So you know that we had an eclipse in North America today and I saw a post about the brothers never actually observing an eclipse before and I had to write this.
-
"I don't get what's the fuss with this moon thing, the damn thing is there all day and night long every day, every year".
Lucifer's fingers rubbed his closed eyes as a sigh left his body, it was always the same thing when it came to his young brothers.
"We do not have a sun, idiot, that's what makes the trick", the yawny voice of the youngest of the seven uttered with a notable tone of annoyance, his eyes were closed but had they been opened, a roll in them would show how much irritant he found his older brother's words.
"I find it romantic". Asmodeus sighed, "Satan told me all about human beliefs in legends and books. It's like a kiss between two lovers separated in time and distance, so they can only see each other once in a lifetime and share a love kiss".
Another sigh and a giggle followed that statement, however, the effect those words had left in the group made them stay quiet ever since they had been informed about the assignment regarding the 2024 solar eclipse up in the human world. Lucifer had been mesmerized for a while, but it was the first one to notice the thoughts going through his brothers' minds.
"No..."
"It should be a great occasion to visit the human world and get to see MC!"
Lucifer sighed once more, as he would usually do when they were around.
"Yes!" The other five shouted.
"And there will be food!"
"Wait, wait... hold on, you're not actually thinking on kissing MC? Are ya? Cus I'm not gonna allow it, no way under my watch".
"You're so predictable as always, loool". Leviathen mocked.
"Im not! I mean if someone had to do it, then it'd have to be the great Mammon, for I was her first ".
"Can you please stop talking about being the first as suggesting intercourse and clarify it's all about a pact and you were the first just because you're the most stupid of us?" Satan rolled his eyes.
"Hey whadayamean by that? Show some respect to your older brother, besides..."
"Stop all of you" the eldest nagged at them. "This is no time to avoid your responsibilities, and certainly it's no time for interrupting MC's daily occupations, furthermore..."
The buzz of a phone interrupted his course of thought, his sharp gaze led him to Mammon, and his body, as it was an automatic response, he took the phone from his grasp despite his complaints, however, he was surprised to see, it had not solved the issue and all his brothers had stopped paying attention to him, as their attention had been drawn by the device in their hands.
Another buzz coming from his pocket finally made him look at the screen of his phone:
 >>> It's crazy, I remember that back in primary school my science book said this year there would be a solar eclipse, and I was like "I'll be more than 20!, That's a long time from here". And the time is here, guys. I'm so excited.
The message had started a discussion with replies from his six brothers, that didn't lack enthusiasm.
>>> I know you cannot be here, yet, I got something for you.
Lucifer pulled up the attached picture and he smiled as in her hand, there were seven pairs of funny glasses that were probably made of cardboard, and each one was in a different colour. His smile grew wider as he saw every pair had a handwritten word in it: their names.
>>> It's some kind of silly souvenir. I'll give them to you once we get to see each other again. I wish you were here.
A feeling of dread and nostalgia struck the eldest and a sigh escaped his lips again, although immediately afterwards he felt a persistent gaze on him.
"Lucifer", his brothers harmonised, and he stopped himself from rolling his eyes at them, just because he knew he could use his pleads to get a double benefit.
"Only if you guarantee that you'll improve your grades".
The six of them nodded in agreement, a tiny accomplice smile bloomed in their faces. That was the first benefit he acknowledged their little trip would bring as consequence.
Only a few seconds after the door had been knocked at, it opened. A shocked expression followed by the brightest of smiles they had ever known welcomed them; a warm embrace was the cherry on top. That was definitely the second benefit he had foreseen.
An unexpected third arose when they were reunited in the local park, all of them surrounding a bench under a tree; the blue sky suddenly was losing brightness, it was as it was getting cloudy, but no clouds were around, it felt different, it was an odd kind of darkness. The birds started flying towards their homes, and they went quiet, the sunlight was soon hidden by the moon. The pretty spring day had turned into night for a moment. Lucifer looked at his brothers, impressed by the phenomena, he also stared at his human and her excited smile.
It was a brief spectacle, but it felt magical; a shiver ran down his spine as the solar ring was drowned in darkness, it sort of reminded him to when he had fallen out of grace but in a better sense, despite being so old, he had never lived such a show of the immensity of nature... everyone, including his six demon brothers, was admiring in awe at the sun being swallowed by the moon, while wearing their black glasses, while a person with a speaker explained the science behind it.
When the sun shone again over their heads, the girl opened up their arms to hug them, a hug which all of them returned.
For some reason they were grateful to be alive in that precise point of time where all they had got to know each other, to spend time with one another, they were all glad to witness the event of the century together.

40 days
The house had gone quiet after a book had been slammed shut with such a force the sound had leaked through the closed door and reached out their ears as a threat, the low groan that followed startled them as though a lightning had struck their chests. In silent agreement the inhabitants of the gloomy manor tiptoed upstairs towards the room where the muffled screams were coming from.
"I am aware of the fact I must do as you say, however on this occasion my final answer is a no".
A deep sigh was audible, and the eavesdroppers could picture the eyes rolling that accompanied such sound.
"Lucifer..." the always friendly yet commanding voice uttered with a slight hue of a plead. "I have no option here, refusing it could lead us to another war, you know. And that's not good for anyone, it won't change anything, it's just a protocol... he promised".
"I know better than trusting father's promises", as usual, the words were expressed with resent, however, this time, pain could also be perceived in his voice.
Silence followed to such statement, they were surprised father was mentioned, and they knew that name could only mean trouble, the curiosity they had been feeling was slowly replaced with the growing concern encroaching their hearts, they held their breaths for some minutes waiting for the conversation to continue.
"You have to do it, Lucifer, I wish I could do something in order to prevent that from happening because I know how much pain it brings to you, but as the next in line for the Devildom's throne I seek for peace between your father and us".
Another sigh, one that made the ones listening on the other side of the door feel sorrow.
"Tempting this new favourite human of his to prove if he'll remain loyal after he makes him go through more suffering than his body and heart can bare sounds souless"
"I have to agree, especially since he claims he's his son, the best one, but I don't have any right to interfere".
"He hasn't changed one bit, and I still don't understand what he wants from us... I used to be his favourite too at some point,  he punished me and my brothers for my lack of obeying due to unfair matters, now he's repeating his actions, maybe he's afraid he'll turn his back at him as I did when he finds out he only cares about power, for his own good I hope he's able to thrive".
"Even if he does..." Diavolo muttered, and then stopped himself.
"Even if he does? What's that supposed to mean?" Lucifer raised an eyebrow, fearing about that man's fate.
"I've heard he's been condemned ever since he was born, he's had plans about his death, which are not pleasant by the way".
Everyone including Lucifer felt a shiver running down their spines.
"There must be another option".
"You know your father better than I do. You have to leave tomorrow and take water with you because these thirty days in the desert will be tough, that guy will be put on a test, and he'll be fastening for the thirty days, at least you won't have to do through that, come to my office tomorrow, I'll hand you the instructions given by the Celestial Realm".
Everyone was in shock after hearing those sentences and five out of the six demons listening, trembled, as they remembered the pain and suffering, they had been forced to face and feared for the fate of the man Diavolo and Lucifer were talking about. They looked at each other, sharing their sorrow, except for Satan who seemed oblivious to it, as he knew the story but had not witnessed it completely. Heavy steps reached the door and it soon opened without notice, the sorrow was replaced by surprise, the now uncovered six demons ran towards their rooms and Diavolo chuckled at the sight, it had not annoyed him, he always found the demon brothers' shenanigans hilarious.
"So... Lucifer has to tempt this guy" Leviathan summarised while his body trembled... "Because father wants to prove if he'll stay by his side even if he tortures him?"
"And Lucifer will have to do the dirty work? How's that fair? Everyone will think he's all evil" Asmodeus stated with a concerned look on his face.
"He's not though?" Satan frowned; he had been trying to retrieve his memories from the celestial war, he had been able to see a bit through Lucifer's eyes, but it was like a blurred picture, where everything he was able to distinguish was blood, "He's a sadist, that's what he does".
"It'll be humiliating for him". Beelzebub sighed and left the rice he was having aside. "Having to fulfill father's orders after being treated the way he was treated and having to pretend everything that's happening it's because of him... that's sad".
The six of them remained silent and thinking and left early to bed, Lucifer didn't leave his office for the rest of the day, and they knew probably they'd find a brief explanation letter about his absence the next morning.
No demon in the House of Lamentation was able to sleep that night, all of them remained quiet within their bedrooms as they were too concerned and didn't want to create additional trouble for their eldest brother, except for Lucifer's archenemy who left the house without being noticed and way earlier than the eldest.
"It has to be him?"
Diavolo nodded, but Satan could see the lack of confidence in his eyes, something that was not usual.
"It's not stated in the instructions, but Michael said it had to be him".
Satan took the sheets of expensive paper covered with golden letters that resumed everything  Lucifer had to do.
"Let me do it, as long as his name is not in the contract it doesn't matter", Diavolo knew Satan had acquired vast knowledge due to the time he spent in the library, and while it was a risky decision, yet Satan was willing to help and it would save Lucifer from the humiliation, so he nodded, "leave before your brother finds out".
It took Satan two days in order to get to the dessert where the appointment was, he knew by then Lucifer was far behind, when he arrived he wrapped himself in a black sheet that covered him from head to toes just leaving his green eyes at sight. He noticed a young man on his knees praying by a huge rock. Satan intentions were not following the instructions as they had been told because while he still hold some kind of resent against Lucifer and he loved to annoy him, he didn't appreciate the Celestial Realm meddling in their affairs, they had been kicked out of it, now why they should obey them? It definitely had nothing to do with the fact he didn't want Lucifer to be humiliated by his father again.
Satan took a second but finally walked towards him.
"So, are you the son of God?" he asked casually, feeling the awkwardness of the situation raising, he could see the other man was nervous and scared, he didn't even dare to look at Satan directly in the eye as he continued praying in silence with his eyes closed, Satan sighed and cleared his throat, he didn't like to be ignored.
"Go away creature of darkness, no matter what you say I won't not listen to your evil words".
Satan sighed and sat by his side, surprisingly he didn't feel anger, even considering he was the avatar of wrath. Seeing that man in such condition made him feel bad. He was nervous, scared and he could see the uncertainty in his face, he was holding on the hope his father would come and rescue him at the very last moment, and he felt sadness knowing what the plans for him were.
"He'll forsake you, you know". He muttered as someone else's memory crossed his mind and his body... a memory of distress and abandonment, it overwhelmed him at a degree he didn't expect until he found a tear rolling down his cheek that he had to cover, he was supposed to be all evil and yet he was now crying because of a stolen memory from Lucifer.
"He won't" the other stated with a trembling voice, he was determined and had hope. Hope was a good thing, he decided no one should be deprived from such sentiment, so Satan just sighed and took the book he had been carrying while the other man kept praying for a couple of hours, after all, even if it was a bit boring, he had asked Diavolo to allow him to go and now he had to at least remain there.
"Do you want some?" It had been hours and Satan was getting rather peckish, he had been prepared for the trip and so, he offered the other man a bit of his beloved apple pie he had taken with him.
"I will not fall into temptation, you demon". Satan frowned and wondered what fastening had to do with anything, he looked tired and hungry.
He shrugged and started eating, since he could not bear it anymore.
"You know, it's very good you're not a cat or you'd very soon be having issues with your liver".
The man looked at him, frowning.
"What's... what's a liver?"
Satan frowned, then he remembered humans were still way behind when it came to science.
"It makes your body works" he explained. "Anyways, do you know cats can only survive a week without food? Still, it's very dangerous because their health condition could be severely damaged".
"I had no idea" the man responded, it was a bit odd a demon was talking to him about cats.
"How's that possible? Are there not cats in your hometown?"
"There are but I have never paid attention to them."
Satan took a hand to his chest and her mouth dropped wide.
"How's that even possible! Cats are beautiful creatures and fascinating, you know they can fall and always land on their feet without suffering any kind of damage, that's quite fascinating"
The interest of the man grew as Satan talked about cats in such a way, he was surprised, and for a considerable amount of time, he forgot it was a demon, and by the time the night fell upon them, he had to accept he was making his staying in that desert more bearable.
"And where's this book conference being held, Diavolo?" Lucifer frowned in suspicion as he crossed his arms over his chest, it had been a month or more since last time Satan had departed, Diavolo had said he had sent him to a book conference because he knew he'd enjoy it, it was only a coincidence the Celestial Realm didn't longer needed Lucifer to go to tempt that poor man, of course.
"In the East" he shrugged, "don't worry the event will end soon".
Lucifer didn't have too much of an option but to wait, he had a lot of work to get done so he committed himself to it, a letter buried in his previous paperwork then appeared in his desk.
It's been forty days, the temptation was supposed to last only thirty, go and pick up your young brother.
- Michael.
Lucifer rolled his eyes but forced Diavolo to disclose the location of Satan, and he picked him up, he saw how the human and his brother exchanged a hug while Satan wished him good luck and the man walked away while the demon looked at him with a saddened expression as he knew what future held for him, he thought he was a nice man and he was also smart even accounting to the fact humans had not discovered anything about their world yet... and by the end his new acquaintance was now also a cat lover due to the information he had shared with him, yet he could feel the pain of everything that was going to happen, he could perceive the same kind of pain Lucifer had once felt... The eldest frowned and Satan gasped as he saw Lucifer, no words were needed, they both began their way home.
"You didn't have to do this". Lucifer spoke in a low voice, always looking at the path that would lead them to the door to the Devildom.
"I did it because I wanted, not because of you". Satan lied.
Lucifer nodded and once they reached out the Devildom he smiled at him.
"Thank you".

Breath before the kiss
Tumblr media
This is inspired by the song Breath before the kiss
Summary: Your first kiss with Lucifer.
Word count: 1 K
Status: Complete.
Warnings: None, pure fluff.
Dark hues were slowly encroaching the sky, as well as the hallways you had walked down that had led you to your last destination, you felt as though shadows crept over you, invading your heart and your breath hitched in anticipation.
This was the last day in the place that you had learnt to call home for a whole year, and despite the darkness you had faced during your stay, you were finding hard to say goodbye to those who had been with you throughout your time there, those who had become family after being enemies and tried to attempt against you. You were finding hard to imagine your foreseeable future without all of them and their noisy activities, but especially, you were finding terrifying the idea of living without the one that was now waiting for you, buried in paperwork and acting oblivious to your arrival.
You noticed the darkness had vanished into the moonlight that leaked through the open window in the other side of the room as soon as you opened the wooden door. The sweet scent you perceived in the environment that contrasted the damp's smell on the hallway, came from the flowers that had bloomed and held on to the outer wall of the House of Lamentation and had been called in your honour since it was the first summer, they had ever shown up in the Devildom. You had believed Lucifer had had them cut, a smile crossed your face when you realised, he had not.
After a few minutes of shared silence, he finally looked up from his work, took his glasses off and had his red eyes fixed on you; he made a gesture, clear enough to be comprehensible; you obeyed and locked the door behind you, you knew what you were going to do there, you knew you needed privacy, after all, you were going to hand him your soul and the other way round, as you had made with his brothers, although this time you wanted more than just a pact. You were leaving, probably forever, this was likely the last chance for you to have a straightforward talk.
As only answer to his question in an unexpected wobbly voice, asking if you had taken care of all your business in the Devildom, you stepped closer to him. You would never tell him, but you perceived a ray of hope in his tired eyes when you did so. You probably were taking too much of a risk, it was a dire situation, and you were not even sure if you were going to survive if you dared to cross the limits of your relationship, if you could call it that; you reminded yourself you would not be able to live any other second if you just left without letting him know what you had to say about your feelings.
His gaze met yours, the fire burning in them and the sight of his soft lips getting wet by his tongue were inviting you to do as you had been dreaming of doing during the last couple of months, when you had noticed your words got stuck in your throat, leaving you speechless and your hands shook for no reason when he looked at you.
You had spent a beyond of suficient amount of time daydreaming of it. You were always braver in your fantasies than you were in real life though. Now that you were actually going to confess, your heart was about to fly away and you thought it was a good thing it was locked up in your rib cage; your hands were leaking, your legs were trembling and if you had tried to talk, no sound would have been emitted. You were scared, even more scared than when you had faced death some months ago, but at the same time some kind of current ran through your spine, prompting you to take action. It was now or never.
You stared at him for some seconds, you could see yourself in his eyes, you could also feel his breath caressing your face, you were so close, it was awkward, since the both of you were expecting the other one to take the first step, he was afraid, maybe it was all a misunderstanding, but he did not want to step back, that much you could tell, and you thought it was a good sign, you just needed a moment of stupid bravery, and you would be done or rather damned, for there would not be way to go back.
You breathed in and closed your eyes; your trembling lips finally met his. Your body reacted in such complicated ways you could not understand, fire and rain were overflowing it. Your cheeks were as red as were his and your stomach twisted.
You expected a sudden burst of anger or shock coming from him, but his eyes let you know he was actually delighted, and he was not surprised but rather relieved, he did not attempt to hide the smile in his face that you were now sharing as he held your face in his, sketching your features, as though he was seeing you for the first time ever.
"I will not be your possession; I won't belong to you". He stated at you with dead eyes, that were suddenly coming back to life as he pronounced his next statement with a smoky voice that made you melt: "You will belong to me".
A grin lighted up his demonic features, giving you the impression, his human and therefore, softer side was showing, the part of him that was actually capable of feeling something besides anger and pride.
It was his turn to kiss you, taking his time on savouring your strawberry lips that tasted as summer, the summer he had seen in films where everyone was having the time of their lives, and it was finally his time to live.
"As of this moment, you are mine". And you somehow, liked that sort of possessiveness, because you knew that even if he said otherwise, he was yours too and no one else's.
He embraced your waist in his arms, igniting the butterflies in your stomach.
"You're going to spend your last night in the Devildom there, together with me, all night long, until the break of dawn. I'm not letting anyone else have you now. You're mine".  He wrapped you in his arms, and you did nothing in order to stop him, that was what you wanted, what your heart longed. Several kisses followed to those, each one tasted different, as though love had shades and you were trying each one of them. Every touch and every kiss made your heartbeat rush and your head spin in the best of ways, there were sparks within your body.
Sleeping by his side felt as dreaming in a forbidden paradise, he encompassed sweetness and seduction in a way you were not able to understand but it had you mesmerised; probably at some point you would pay for it, you did not care, as long as you could embrace him for a bit longer as you were doing right now.
"You should try to sleep, it's almost morning". He mumbled; he was constantly tired but he tried his best to keep his eyes open. "What's the problem?"
He sat back down, taking you with him because you had been lying on his bare chest.
"I'm leaving tomorrow". You replied. "And I don't want to leave you, I can't, no after tonight".
"I cannot leave you either, but you know what? I won't. I will find a way, you will have to trust me, but we'll be together like this again".
You left yourself fall into his arms again, his warm embrace almost making you forget what you were worried about, without words, it let you know he'd come back to you.

The lightning that blinded his eyes struck his chest making him fall backwards. He expected to feel his body crash against the ground at any second, but contrary to his prediction, the air kept leaving his lungs and his stomach remained up in the clouds while his body kept falling without reaching land, his thoughts scattered around his head, overwhelming it to the point of almost losing consciousness; making his heart bounce in his chest, he felt as though a cold hand was grasping it and tearing it out of his body, leaving just pain within him, pain that only grew once he finally reached land, the bones in his tailbone and hips shattering due to the force of the violent collision. And a piercing shriek made the gloomy lands tremble.
He looked around, moved his head desperate to see something, but all he was able to perceive was blackness, it took him an unknown amount of time, since time seemed to be slow and fast all at once, to finally be able to discern fire, embracing him, since it was fire coming from his own body, specifically from his back; what were once white feathers, had been reduced to dust, which also explained the pain coming from that part of his body; he gasped in horror and tried to get rid of those monstruous limbs, every burnt feather was followed by a screech of agony that echoed throughout those dead lands. There were corpses everywhere, all of them stained with blood, and covered with ashes, but what he feared the most was the one of a woman before him; his only sister, Lilith, who he had failed to protect, another howl left his mouth as he crawled to that lifeless body.
The scream startled him; he opened his eyes as he looked around, it had been a disturbing way to wake up and he was now experiencing a headache; he squinted and perceived in the darkness the silhouettes of six people around him, where it should have been seven, all fast asleep, snoring loudly. It was a relief all of them were too tired to hear him, or to notice him; he took his hand to his heart as it was pounding in a concerning way and his forehead sweating, and yet he did not have a clue on how it was possible, but his body was freezing. His fingers were numb, and he was not even able to hold the pen he had been using before nodding off by accident; he had attempted to prevent himself from falling into the lands of sleep since that dreadful memory was harassing him, torturing him every time he closed his eyes.
He sighed and opened the book he had managed to get from the library so he could get some work done. It had been a relief Barbatos had shown up there right in the middle when the demon behind the counter was showing him behaviour linked to senseless hatred.
"I perceive some kind of an angelic accent" the librarian had said "I cannot understand a word, so I cannot help".
The royal bluter had shown up right before Lucifer gave in and left the place, giving the demon a meaningful look that made the other freeze and all of a sudden, he was capable of understanding the first born, because he fulfilled his order in a second.
Lucifer thanked the butler, picked the book up and left the library with humiliation reflected in his red cheeks; his pride had been boosted ever since he had fallen into that place, every little rough action made him feel humiliated or stupid, he had to be right, he had to know more than anyone else, he had to be perfect.
A part of him resented that place where they were strangers, where they knew quite well they were not welcomed, yet, they did not have too much of an option and there was so much to learn: potions, curses, other languages, history... so he was forced to swallow his pride and hatred towards most of the Devildom's population and he made himself study while his brothers slept so he could help them later and make things a bit easier for them, even if he refused to accept it.
It was tough, he was overwhelmed with so much new knowledge, and he was slowly losing it. He was angry and he was hurt, he was slowly falling into a black hole where his existence was meaningless and the idea of eternal sleep promising.
He was a demon now and he had to act like such, and he could perceive his feelings were changing or at least the way he used to sense them... so it was unexpected and he could not help but ask himself why was a tear rolling down his cheek? Was it the permanent pain in his body of the broken bones that were taking centuries to heal as his burnt wings? Was it the hatred against his father always unwilling to talk or to listen who had now forsaken him? Was it the pain in his heart for producing the fall and pain of his brothers? Was it due to the death of her little sister he had been forced to face? Was it the reject of the locals? Was it the annoyed sights given at him as if he was not worth anything or as though he had done something wrong, from those who dared to judge him without even knowing what had happened to him? Was it because he was a far from home in a dark land and he would never get to see the sun ever again? Was it because he was no longer loved or respected?...
It had been beyond a high toll according to his thoughts, he sighed and looked at the sleeping demons, and he realised whatever he felt, it did not matter. There was no way back, he could not give in now, he had brought that fate upon them, and he had to protect them now, no matter what it took, he wiped his tears away and continued reading the book under the dim light of the candle, that would eventually damage his eyes.

Hoping for snow
Tumblr media
This is inspired by Hoping for snow by The vamps.
Summary: Lucifer faces a lonely Christmas eve.
Word count: 2 K
Status: Complete.
Warnings: Angsty, but not too much.
Ice covered the glasses as snowflakes fell over the dark lands before his eyes. Coldness was creeping up on the night as it was slowly clasping his heart, leaving a bitter taste in his lips.
He had longed a bit of privacy in his studio, but he did not expect his bedroom would become some kind of burial chamber due to the embracing silence overflowing it, drowning the distant echoes of the joyful expressions and catchy songs of the other inhabitants of the manor since snow had covered the lands and they had left in order to enjoy the view and the amusements that the white material brought with it; and because now that he had some time alone with himself; his dark thoughts slowly encroached his mind.
A sigh escaped his withered lips; and as an attempt to increase his body's temperature he fired the chimney up, however, as he had noticed over the last days, no heat was able to bring warmth to his body or his heart and he was condemned to crawl throughout the nights with a dead weight in his chest.
The view from outside promised to bring some kind of short redemption to his despondent persona, yet, despite his efforts to avoid it, he found himself staring at the main gate, as though the part missing from his heart would suddenly show up at the entrance, changing the loneliness overflowing him and turning it into the Christmas spirit he was missing; but it was not like that and so, depression grasped his soul and he found irritating and aggravating the joy the others were having.
A distant memory crossed his mind as he closed his eyelids, bringing the noise of the crowds and the aromas of baked food, and mistletoe. A slow waltz that belonged to the nutcracker was being played in the background. He had found a quieter spot behind a white wooden door, where a mid-size christmas tree was standing in a corner, and it'd be a room in complet darkness except for its dim lights and the crackling fireplace. The hubbub of the guests was diminished once the door was closed, although the musicians were still able to impregnate the environment with their skilled movements on the strings.
"Remember, it's... one, two and three".
The cheeks of the recipient of his instructions turned red, as their right hands were intertwined and his left hand rested on her waist, controlling the movements of both of them. She had refused to dance that night because she had said she was not skilled and probably would stain his reputation if they danced in the centre of the dancefloor; he had said it did not matter, yet she was not comfortable and the demon had to find a secret spot, so the two of them could enjoy the evening together.
They both swung and turned around throughout the room, and when the music met an end, their faces were so close, she could not help but feel her bloodstream rush and warm up her face, his playfully eyes sparkled and the grin on his face disappeared when his lips touched hers.
A speck of warmth was brought to his chest at the thought, since this year, a mere thought from afar was all they were, and whilst everyone wished for snow and the holidays to begin, he just wished she could come home.
"What do you mean you won't spend Christmas here at the Devildom?" it came as a shock hearing those words leaving her mouth, in his mind he could not get a grasp of the idea going through her mind. Christmas was supposed to be a date to spend with those who were special... at home.
"I have to go home". His face remained neutral, yet she noticed the change in the sparkle of his eyes, as though light was abandoning them, and he gave her a cold gaze. She thought of rephrasing, explaining that she missed her human family despite seeing the Devildom as home as well, but it was too late, and he was speaking again.
"None of the inhabitants of the Devildom aimed to retain you here, you may go home and do not be concerned, for we'll manage and carry out our normal activities even if a student and member of the student council is away".
His cold voice made her heart froze, no more words were needed to let her know she was not essential and not even required in their... his life. She looked away and nodded at the rough answer and headed for her room. The next day, she vanished into the snowstorm, and no one had known anything about her, and they knew she was home, she had to tell them just because Beel had been starving to death due to the research and the worry and she had to say something, although she asked them with a begging voice not to mention anything to Lucifer.
Lucifer knew well though, she would receive calls and would also exchange messages with his brothers, the angels, even Diavolo and Barbatos, and he was aware Solomon would pay visits to her more often than he would have liked.
He was not looking forward to celebrating Christmas this year, and he had made a business trip and tried to stay away long enough to skip the holiday, however, he had to return home sooner because Diavolo requested him to be present, and now he was drowning in the melancholy of his studio and in his dark thoughts.
"You should call her and apologise". A voice coming from his right shoulder whispered, he frowned and turned around.
"What are you talking about?"
"MC, of course. We all miss her, but I can perceive some kind of special discomfort in you, I'd even say... guilt".
Simeon reflected holding a tray with gingerbread and Lucifer looked away. He sighed.
"I don't need you to tell me what to do". The bitterness in his voice confirmed Simeon's suspicion who only shrugged.
"It was only a piece of advice, but you're right, you don't need advice I can see you don't need it, you're fine". He left Lucifer alone, who once more felt a gulp of regret running down his throat.
He remained dead silent for some minutes; it was hard to believe that it had been months and he had not dared to take the first step on making things right. His gloved fingers tapped over the screen of the phone with a lack of confidence that he found ridiculous. The first attempt failed, as did the second, the third and the fourth. But now that he had made up his mind, he'd not quit his resolution.
"Is everything alright down there?"
"It is".
"Then why would you wake me up in the middle of the night?"She faked a sleepy tone of voice so she would not give away the fact she had been also up and thinking about him.
"I wanted to talk to you".
A sigh coming from the other side of the line hurt his pride, although it was in fact already hurt. He hesitated for a moment, knowing that he had to continue and to say something convincing enough if he wanted another chance.
"And it has to be now? I mean if you were willing to wait months for having this conversation, I don't think it'd hurt to wait a couple of hours". She tried, it was some kind of trial for him, in her mind if he accepted the deal, he would lose everything.
"I was an idiot".
"Are you calling me to state the obvious? I thought you had something more important to say, well then..."
"I'm sorry, MC".
"It's been months, Lucifer, do you think saying sorry will fix anything?"
He held his breath for some seconds, and she thought of hanging up.
"I let my pride get in the way, I acted as an absolute brainless individual, and I'm here begging for your forgiveness".
"You were an idiot, yes". She sighed, making his cheeks blush. "I don't know if the words said on the other side of the line are enough to forgive your stupidity, for the months you were silent as if I was the one blame; I accept I should have chosen other words, or broaden my explanation, but you refused to talk, you left me in darkness for months and now you want to fix this with a phone call".
Her voice was broken; she had obviously suffered due to what had happened too.
"The only reason I'm not kneeling on my knees right in front of you is because I thought you'd have problems with your family if I showed there..."
She sighed once more.
"MC, I was confused because I thought we were family now, after everything we've gone through, yet I have to accept I was an idiot and my words were cruel and did not make any sense, and my silence was a decision I highly regret, sentiment was overflowing my senses and I know it might not be enough reason to grant me your forgiveness... but I miss you... and I love you, endlessly, and nothing will ever change that, and I shall respect your decision of spending your time where you feel the best. And although it's hard, for me, if I must resign from my happiness for you to find yours, I'll gladly accept it".
His deep voice was stained with sorrow that struck her heart.
"Lucifer... the problem is that you don't listen and jump over conclusions, and I wonder if you will ever change. You don't know me better than I do myself".
The words were stolen from his mouth as he found himself speechless and silence turned into an uncomfortable vortex.
"I appreciate your apology, though, good night".
The sound of the broken line left his heart beating fast, and a bitter taste in his lips ran down his heart, he took a seat in front of the window, and sighed while a tear rolled down his cheek, his pride was hurt, but especially his heart. He had not even had the chance to say happy holidays.    He stared at the main entrance of the House of Lamentation, everyone had been waiting for the snow to fall, but he was waiting for her to come home, and his heart shattered at the realisation she would not be there.
As though they were a waterfall, his eyes started leaking and suddenly the picture of the landscape became blurry, the characters became only moving stains in the iced glass, and just a minute later shadows took over them, for blackness was everything he could be aware of.
"Always overworking yourself to the point of exhaustion".
He heard a whispering voice close to his ears, and his eyes opened wide just to realise no one was outside and the woman of his dreams was not walking towards the entrance. Although, he realised there was some kind of change in the environment since some kind of light came from his back, he turned around and found some Christmas decorations spreading light in the darkness.
"You came..." maybe it was the fact he was still asleep, or maybe he had really missed her, but the avatar of pride stood up, wobbled towards her and wrapped his arms around her.
"I made it home... Merry Christmas, Lucifer". She whispered.
And as only answer, he placed his lips into hers. There would be time to reach agreements and ask for forgiveness, for now, the only think that mattered was seeing each other's eyes glowing in the quietness of the night under the Christmas lights.

Beber de tu sangre. (Drinking from your blood)
Tumblr media
This is inspired by this song and you definitely should listen to it: Beber de tu sangre.
Summary: Lucifer is afraid of losing the love of his life.
Warnings: Hurt and angst, although there's some comfort. Depictions of death, distress, depression, anxiety, nightmares and sorrow.
You can also find this work on Ao3 and on Wattpad.
Demons were not the sort of creature that used to die. Certainly, they would get ill sometimes, very often in some cases due to the rebellious nature they embraced that put their well-being at stake frequently, however, almost none of those were serious enough to put their lives at risk.
That was why the doctor could not help but be concerned about the call he had just received a few minutes ago, he remembered the dark voice on the other side of the phone whilst he dashed through the cobblestone streets for the Demon Lord's Castle, where he had been summoned to with such urgency, and to his surprise, even with a threat to his life in between the request coming by Lucifer himself. Whatever the issue was, it was something beyond the abilities of the ruler of the Devildom to handle, and he feared Lord Diavolo's fate was imitating his father's, and his stomach twisted at the idea.
The environment was overflowed with a heavy feeling of distress. The low rank demons walked up and down the halls of the castle as if something was going to happen, something serious, since everyone was busy and yet, the expression read on their faces was sorrow and anguish, but overall, fear. As if they were the ones whose life was inevitably doomed. Furthermore, the dismal darkness the castle's hallways were always drowned in, gave the doctor a terribly feeling of trepidation.
Their expressions and the impression left on him were erased from his mind as soon as he walked in the room he had been asked to come, and he noticed the demon standing by the bed: a night black shadow with gloved hands over his chest, hair as troubled as his mind; fire burning in his eyes, the darkness making those terrible eyes outstand in it, and he knew those eyes could kill, literally.  The demon's teeth stock out his mouth, his tongue licked them, producing a malicious gesture; the description of impatience was complete with his foot tapping as though he was marking the beat of an orchestra playing a funeral march.
The doctor plodded with shaking legs towards the demon, he had motioned over him, indicating him to speed up his pace.
"I assume you're expecting something to happen? What are you waiting for? Waste no more time and comply with your medical obligations!"
The demon urged and the doctor did as he was prompted, feeling a weight on his back, as if Lucifer's shadow was over him.
"What is the problem?" The demon asked, his patience had been consumed by the doctor's fear and slow manners that were reflected in his demeanour.
The doctor took a second to breath, since he had been almost unable to do it before, he wiped the sweat off his forehead and finally cleared his throat before speaking despite the growing tiredness shown in the demon's threatening expression, his own voice at the point of breaking.
"It's- it's" he stuttered; usually, Lucifer enjoyed when people showed how much scared they were of him, but on this occasion, he could not appreciate it when he had a dismal feeling eating him up. His solely expression forced the terrified doctor to continue his explanation, after clearing his throat and breathing in: "It's- nothing serious. It's some kind of poisoning due to something in bad condition she ingested, she'll be fine, I will supply some antibiotic injections and, in a couple of weeks, or so, she'll be completely recovered, after that she'll have to take some vitamins, especially, some vitamin D, the paleness of her skin is due to the lack of it".
Lucifer breathed out in relief and placed his gloved fingers over his eyelids, turning his back to the doctor, who took some minutes more before leaving, since he had applied the first jab to his patient.
"Thank you" the girl whispered, she was tired, but she was grateful for all the attention she was receiving, even if she thought it was not something she was in need of.
"Is she allowed to return home now?" Lucifer had never really agreed to having the girl moving to the Castle, he had only accepted because Diavolo would make his best doctor, and therefore, the most capable in the Devildom, to pay her a visit as soon as possible.
"Yes, but she has to rest. Please, avoid stressful situations and unhealthy food and habits... I guess I'll see her tomorrow at the House of Lamentation for the second injection, is that right?"
Both men nodded in silent agreement, the doctor left in haste, and Lucifer slumped on the chair next to the bed, relieved. He had thought he would lose her for sure after that, after all, her face and limbs had turned completely red and she had had problems with breathing, some fever and he knew damn well humans were fragile; he took her hand in his, she was still weak.
"I told you I was fine".
She whispered; exhaustion drowned her voice. A smile was drawn in her face, and Lucifer tried to mimic it. He did not fool anyone, but she was lacking energy at the moment, and she needed to sleep, so his fake expression went unnoticed.
It was not the first time he felt that sort of fear, a different kind of horror that devoured his senses, and made him tremble. It was fear in anticipation, uncertainty, trepidation... he could not handle it anymore, it was the fear for something that hadn't happened yet, but the time it would happen would come at some point without notice, and he would not be able to do anything to prevent it from happening; the thought of it would eat away at him every day. It would be a shadow in the bright moments shared with the woman he loved, that would haunt him in his sleep. The mere thought of his happiness coming to an end was scarier than anything he had ever experienced, he could even face his fall a second time, he would give anything just to be able to keep her. While he watched her peacefully sleeping, he decided, he had to do something.
-
"Satan, may I borrow the book I asked you about?"
Things had settled once they had returned home, and everybody's concerns had vanished into the air as soon as they saw the colour returning to the girls' cheeks, and the house was being messy and loud as usual once more.
Satan frowned, he had forgotten about it, it was rare Lucifer needed his help, especially because Lucifer could go anywhere and get any book he was in need of... was it an only edition then?
"What would I get in exchange?" The other replied.
Lucifer sighed, but he reminded himself he was willing to risk everything now he had started to put his plan into action.
"I will pay your price, now if you do not mind, I would like to have the book now".
Satan could not refuse such a valuable opportunity and fulfilled the wishes of his older brother, without asking any questions, whatever it was must have been important.
The girl's aftermath was tough; the injections she received were painful, and her daily regular activities had had to be ceased, thus, she found herself in a dispiriting bedroom all day and all night on her own. The brothers were especially busy those days due to the school duties they had to comply with and the upcoming exams, furthermore, autumn was a busy season for the Devildom and the preparations for Diavolo's birthday, Harvest celebrations, and of course, Halloween were taking place. So, as aloof as some of the brothers were, they were forced to contribute to the organisation of those events whether they liked it or not, after all they were the members of the student council.
They would pop up from time to time, though, they would infiltrate through her bedroom's door in silence, trying to pass unnoticed; they would keep her company some minutes before bedtime, before Lucifer's yells turned into threats; it was disappointing, he was the only one who never made an appearance during the fortnight she had been locked up, since he had seemed so concerned about her health before and had promised to keep her safe and sound. She would not say it out loud, but she wished she could feel his embrace, especially when complete darkness invaded her bedroom, the cold struck her fragile bones, and the nightmares harassed her during the nighttime, and she had no one to hold on to in the middle of that oneiric despair.
Days went by like that, and she soon was able to go back to her routine. The doctor had told her, she would be fine as long as she kept watching her habits and taking her vitamins, so she was now as busy as the rest of the members of the house were, getting involved in her academic activities and holiday preparations.
"Where are you going, MC?"  She was rushing through the house with a determined look on her face.
"Lucifer has to approve this transaction; I wish Mammon did not take every opportunity to steal from the family's checking account so I could spend more than 100 grimm without having to ask Lucifer for his signature every time". The young woman rolled her eyes amid of her explanation at Satan, who agreed in silence.
"Nevertheless, I highly doubt he's in his bedroom".
She stopped for a second and sighed.
"Did he leave already? He has not been having breakfast with us, so I haven't had really any chance to see him. I guess I will have to chase him in the classroom, I hope he does not have another urgent meeting with Diavolo today".
Satan nodded and shrugged.
"I'll see you at school then." He stepped away, leaving the girl alone, and she wondered where he was originally going to, but he had left before she could ask anything.
Lucifer's door, stood by the end of the hallway wrapped in perpetual silence; she had been so close, it had been really unfortunate Satan had stopped her before she could get closer to it, a draft of an idea was taking shape in her mind, Satan had shown up just when she was about to get there, was he heading Lucifer's room too? Why had he stopped? She was a member of the "Lucifer, you s*ck" chatroom, and she did not remember any plans on pulling a prank on their eldest brother these days, perhaps Satan was planning something on his own? That would probably be something more dangerous than their average joke.
Vexation was the feeling that embraced her every time she thought of Lucifer over the last weeks, because she felt abandoned by him, as though he was avoiding her, however, she did not appreciate Satan making his life harder than it already was, so that was why she decided to sneak into his bedroom, carefully, just to make sure Satan did not have a bucket of holy water that would shower him as soon as he stepped in, or something even worse.
The door was locked from the inside, she noticed, but she had spent too many nights there and knew a couple of tricks that were of use on this occasion.
She slipped into the room and closed the door when her body was completely inside. She soon stopped hearing the voices and steps of those who were hurrying so they could get on time to the Academy. She looked around, and perceived something she was not fond of; she heeded every detail; the bedroom was overflowed by some kind of darkness she did not like, the windows were closed, and the air was impregnated with some sort of odd smell that reminded her of rotten flesh, it was the kind of odeur produced by rust, a blood-like smell, and she had a tough time trying not to vomit. Definitely, there was something eerie occurring.
"Lucifer?" She whispered; she could feel the queasiness increasing with every step she took.
No answer was given, the windows were closed, and the heavy curtains covered the glasses, she pulled them up so the dim daylight could come across, and she could better see. She was stuck in an uneasy silence; her heartbeat rushed, and some tears were filling her eyes as she approached the bed, fearing about what she was about to find out.
-
"Where's MC?"
Mammon asked, a slight tone of concern painted his voice.
"I did not see her in classes today". Asmodeus realised, the concern in the group was gradually increasing.  "Belphie, you're always the last one to leave the house, where was MC when you left?"
"I saw her chatting with Satan".
"Satan?"
"Yes! I was talking to her, she wanted to see Lucifer, and I tried to prevent her from going into his bedroom".
"Lucifer did not come to classes again though". Beelzebub remembered it wasn't the first time he had not attended.
It was relieving that MC was with Lucifer, right? Even if that meant they could be doing things they rather not think about, it meant she was safe, because Lucifer would do anything to keep her safe, they knew that quite well.
"But Lucifer has not been around these days, I have not seen him like in a week, he's always had too much in his plate, but it looks this is beyond what he can manage, he would never skip lessons." Asmodeus reflected. "What's going on with him?"
"We should return home, just to check everything's fine with the both of them".
"Yeah, I have a bad feeling about this".
The group of six people headed together to the House of Lamentation in silence. They were not the kind of group that used to be quiet, but something was weighing them down, something they could not explain.
The mood that drowned the house infected the hearts of the demons, it somehow, felt bad. It was some kind of loneliness, it felt unsettling, even disturbing. The silence was only broken by the echoes of their steps on the marble floors and a distant noise that reminded them of a restless soul.
"It looks like they're not home, MC is not in her bedroom". Leviathan communicated.
"I think we should then check on Lucifer's room". Asmodeus suggested, and the six of them walked down the dark hallway.
The closer they were, the more worried they became, the drowned noise they had first heard when they entered the house made them shiver.
"Lucifer? May we come in?"
It was too quiet despite the mumble coming from it, and this time they were convinced there was something going on. The noise coming from Lucifer's room was more noticeable than it had been before. And they recognised what it was; it sounded like a lament, and even if they lived in the house of lamentation, they had never heard one like that one.
"Lucifer, we're coming in". Someone screamed from the outside.
No answer was emitted. Beelzebub broke down the door with a single movement and the six of them were now inside. They got frozen at the picture before them.
The girl they had been looking for was over Lucifer's chest, at first, they thought they were both sleeping, and they thought it was cute, they considered leaving them alone, however, before they closed the door, Satan noticed the way the girl was attempting to breath, with several tugs, so instead, he stepped closer and asked Beel to turn the lights on since the only light was coming from the open window . He observed the beings before him, the girl was over Lucifer's chest and her eyes were closed, so were his, she was gasping, as though she was trying to get air within her lungs and her lips trembled due to it. Her face was pale, and her eyes were sealed by crusts.
Satan was not a real detective, but he had read too many books on the topic to be able to make a simple deduction: she had been crying and she had fallen asleep while crying, she was in fact, still crying in her sleep, because her body was slightly trembling.
"MC?" Satan called in a soft voice.
Next, he looked at Lucifer. His skin had always resembled snow due to its paleness, however, on this occasion, his paleness was mortal and his skin was turning purple, as though some kind of disease had entered into his veins and drained his blood. His breathing was hard to perceive, he could almost say he was not breathing, and he had to get even closer to him just to confirm it.
"Lucifer's not breathing" Satan took his wrist in his hand and noticed there was no sign of a pulse.
"What do you mean he is not breathing?" Asmodeus frowned and Mammon immediately came closer to the bed, where the two of them were lying.
"MC? I need you to wake up" Satan shook her body, she had barely opened her eyes, when she closed them again, it could be seen she was exhausted and was being victim of some kind of deep sleep or nightmare that was not allowing her to wake up.
"Satan, let me". Beelzebub easily lifted the girl in his arms and stepped aside so Satan could check on Lucifer while everybody else in the room remained silent with a shocked expression painted in their faces in expectation.
The name was called several times, but no answer was given, the roses of his cheeks were as dry as the lips whose warmth the girl had got to know and had also vanished.
"Satan, what's going on?"
The concern in the voice was now painted with realisation but lacked acknowledgement and they started weeping in unison even before hearing the answer.
"Lucifer's dead".
-
Everything had happened so quickly it all seemed a nightmare far in the past: the arrival of the doctor confirming that the eldest of the seven brothers would not open his crimson eyes ever again. The explanations were not clear, demons were not supposed to die, there were ways to get them killed, but Lucifer did not seem to have any signs of them, of course the possibility of his father interfering was real, Simeon had said something about Lucifer discussing with Michael over the last weeks. But the doctor insisted it looked like stress had literally eaten him up.
It had been a huge shock for everyone, nights in the Devildom had never been darker. The brothers were hopeless; Belphegor was suffering insomnia; Beelzebub had a terrible stomachache that would not allow him to swallow anything and he had lost weight; Asmodeus had broken several mirrors because the only thing he was able to see was a haggard face with red eyes; Satan was speechless, and he felt he was the one to blame, he had hated Lucifer for no reason and now that he was gone he could not tell him how much he actually loved him; Leviathan refused to go out of his room; Mammon tried to contact their father...
Simeon would not accept it was not a joke from Belphegor and Satan, and Diavolo was so confused he ordered Lucifer to make the arrangements needed for the ceremony for his own funeral. Even Barbatos' cold temper was affected, and his efficiency was failing. Luke cried all night, and he was not even able to calm down when Simeon hugged him.
"This must be especially tough for you, MC". Solomon had approached her and passed his arm around her shoulder, in order to bring her some comfort, so she could feel less lonely.
"We had even talked about marriage, you know?" She replied, she was in front of the coffin, but she felt as though she was in a distant land and everything before her was an illusion, a nightmare, and internally she was begging to be woken up.
"Really?" The human frowned. "But Diavolo would not have allowed that, Lucifer knew well that it was not allowed, it would have been a violation of the human world's law".
"I know, and he knew. It was my fault actually, I had a dream, and he was moved by it, lately he had been concerned about something and he told me he'd find a way to make it happen, so the two of us could be together forever".
Solomon did not like how that sounded, he did not like the idea of MC being dragged away from his side, but he felt hatred against the idea of demons breaking human world's rules at their own convenience. Although, it was not something he had to worry about anymore.
"I cannot believe he's not here anymore, that must be a lie, a trick". She burst into tears again, seeking shelter in Solomon's chest, endeavouring to look away from the wooden coffin that was taking from her what she loved the most.
Even accounting for her bids, she did not get to wake up, and she was also unable to release Lucifer from his eternal dream no matter how many caring words she whispered into his ears, and as soon as the fowls announced the break of dawn and the horizon became clearer and the moon hid, the crowd made its way to the Devildom's cemetery.
Under a quiet willow there was a small white marble construction that resembled a palace, it would be Lucifer's new home, it felt as if it was meant to be, but she found her heart was literally broken and pain struck her chest, and she was hauled out of the cemetery since she was unable to leave it. If he was dead as they said, he could not perceive, feel or think, but she did not want him to stay alone there.
The quietness was sepulchral as it was supposed to be, the dead ones were able to sleep to the beat of the foliage dancing to the wind, as perpetual motion. It was an appropriate place to get the rest he had never got while he was alive, even if the price to pay was restless nights for those who had loved him. MC would spend her days on end in the cemetery, eating a sandwich Beel had made for her under the willow, she would take those peculiar orange flowers, the soul flowers he had told her stories about to bring some life to his tombstone. She would also refuse to leave his room during the nights, where his essence was still present on the pillows and blankets, it felt almost as though she was being wrapped by his strong arms; she would indulge herself during the endless nights and would pretend she was being embraced by his muscles, she would whisper loving words into his ears as she would do when he was alive; although this time she was only holding his pillow, the night itself would do the trick, since in the middle of her dreams, she would open his eyes and perceive Lucifer's shadow leaving kisses in her pale skin, and mumbling caring words back to her.
"I know, I missed you too, I feel like I could beg you to let me drink from your blood, so we could be one, yet I am certain there would be no need, you would give me permission, wouldn't you?"
There were no traces left of those dreams, except for some weeps due to the painful memory when the morning came due to the realisation it had only been a dream; an eerie feeling of bitterness and the weakness that Satan explained was completely normal. Time passed by, but she was still caught in that moment of time, where distress was everything she knew.
In addition, she had another reason to be concerned since every time she found herself alone, she felt as though someone was watching her from the distance. It happened in the library, when she was looking for a book, she looked around, but there was no one close; it happened when she was having a shower and saw a shadow on the other side of the door; when she was fixing her hair and felt somebody was behind her, almost getting ready to kill her, but the mirror showed her she was all alone. She was slowly losing her mind and every single sound would startle her. There was a shadow that was taking over her life and she felt less and less motivated to keep going every day.
"Oh, MC, we were worried, why you did not go to RAD today? Are you alright?"
The girl nodded, but her demeanour convinced no one, she looked around as though she expected to see someone, and stared at the moon as if there was no one around her and she was waiting for something to happen; Satan and Belphie shared a glare. The next morning when both of them decided to escort MC to school, they were somehow prepared to see what they had before their eyes when she did not open the door after knocking several times.
A deja-vu crossed her mind as she heard the echoing steps of the doctor hurrying in the distance, she would have felt ashamed if she only had enough forces to do it, she felt as she was going to die anytime soon, and she was scared.
"She is having a blood condition".
"What kind?" Satan frowned when heard the words of the nervous doctor, who knew very well what was going to happen to her, and to him.
"Blood loss".
No one understood how she could lose such a huge amount of blood in a single night. Little they know, it had not occurred in a single night.
The night was quiet but there were screams brought by the wind, that made her heart tuck. There had been a murder somewhere and the victim's screams were brought by the air, travelled in time in the distance, too late for someone to help. The trees tried to warn her about something, the bats danced in the sky celebrating beforehand the victory of the realm of darkness.
She found herself walking down the cemetery in the middle of the night, she was exhausted, and afraid, something or someone was following her once more, she knew she could only find a shelter under Lucifer's tombstone. It was a wolf that looked like a man, that wanted to shatter her body and feed on her, offer her as a sacrifice to the demon lords. The moon had turned into blood, announcing her end and the drops falling on her face were red and thick instead of clear as rain should be, her white clothes were now stained, and a voice she could not recognise kept asking her why she had killed Lucifer. Lucifer's tomb was open, and darkness clasped on to her, dragging her inside the tomb and into an empty coffin that closed once she was inside, trapping her; her screams could not be heard, and she noticed, the screams she had first heard in her bedroom were actually hers and she had been murdered, and no one would be able to get her out of her prison.
"MC, may I come in?" It had been the first time she had had that dream, and without hesitation she had nodded, although she was asleep and did not know she was actually allowing someone to go in, she was lost in a nightmare, and she was not able to find her way back.
The question was the only thing that remained different, since after permission had been granted, it had become a routine, and she did not known that she would spend the night embraced by the cold body she longed so much, while a shadow repeatedly left kisses in her face, descending into her neck where they stopped and became sloppier and turned into something different, since his sharp teeth would drill her soft skin, his hand over her mouth so her moans could not be heard. He felt like some kind of monster because he could see the pain in her gestures, trying to get rid of the feeling even being unconscious; thinking he was the one who was hurting her sent a gulp of guilt to his heart.
Just a few drops every night over the last couple of weeks had brought her to her current situation, and not even the doctor would be able to explain what was happening, even if the eyes of the most dangerous demons in the Devildom were fixed on him, threating him.
The black pitch figure would sneak into the bedroom, take a few seconds to admire the sleepy woman in the bed that used to be his and smile, that picture made everything he had done, worthy. Soon, she would stop suffering forever, and so would he. Although for now, she would have to bear with the nightmares in an oneiric land, the exhaustion and of course, the stabbing pain in her soft skin.
As nights went by, he perceived she was growing paler and paler, weaker and colder and in addition, she was having trouble falling asleep when the nighttime arrived for she was afraid of some nocturnal being, she thought she was only imagining, was chasing her as some kind of murderer, taking her life. That specific night, he could read discomfort in her face , she was dying and he, as confident of his actions as he always was, for the first time since he had made his plan, found himself in need of reassurance, he needed to be sure he was taking the correct course of action, therefore, he allowed her to see and feel that night, he allowed her to wake up and make a decision.
His mouth brushed her skin making her shiver, he removed from her the sedative he naturally produced now. His lips touched hers and she finally woke up, sitting down and rubbing her eyes, she looked at the window; the moonlight was casting shadows over the floor all belonging to the furniture, it was when she noticed a particular shadow that did not fit, and she stared at it in disbelief: the fancy clothes Barbatos had chosen for him in black and red hues for the funeral; the messy hair falling over his forehead and the crimson eyes outstanding in the gloom of the night. She was about to scream, cry and laugh all at once.
"You're dead".  She finally whispered after a couple of minutes of repeated blinks aimed to confirm she was awake; she knew she was in the middle of a dream, there was no other possible explanation, she did not want to hold on to the chance of him being actually alive standing in front of her to stay, that'd a be thought too cruel to live with.
"Oh, MC, how I have longed to be by your side once more. I've defeated death just to be close to you". He mentioned with a giggle.
She knew all along, the monster that was slowing encroaching in her dreams was Lucifer's shadow, but she refused to believe he would harm her in any other way, he had caused her enough pain when he had departed.
"Are you making fun of me?" She was weak, still, she would not allow such offense.
"No lies were told, and no tricks were performed", he stared at her, with a calm expression.
It had not been easy, it was difficult for him to tell how much time had passed when gloom and silence was everything he had had, until distant fragments of echoes of weeps and pleads that resounded throughout the tombstones, had finally reached his ears; death had seduced him, tempted him, the thought of staying there in eternal calm had not sounded like a bad idea, until he had heard the hopeless complaint coming from a sweet voice that made him remember why he had surrendered to death; and then the sound of the wind and the trees beating his tombstone became unbearable, maddening, despairing...
"What are you? Am I dreaming? Was I dreaming and it all ended?... Are you a ghost? You cannot find rest because of me?"
He gave her a sweet smile, and tears rolled down her face, she walked towards him and embraced him, making him feel some heat, because ever since he had died, coldness would clasp him tightly, almost making him freeze. She faced him, caressed his face with her fragile fingers and met her lips with his.
"You really are here".
She kissed him all over his face, she recognised the Lucifer she had got to know, and her heart felt finally some comfort after those months of endless despair.
" I've come to claim what's mine, I've come to get you".
"How dared you abandon me?"
She cried against his chest, and he caressed her hair, no explanation was logical, and silence was better. Then they slowly started to swing. He had missed her, but he had missed life as well, a softly tune in the violin overflowed the nocturnal silence they had been stuck in once he cracked his fingers, the voice of the piano completed the symphony. He intertwined his fingers with hers and waltzed to the tick tack of the deadly Danse macabre, it was relieving for her getting to see two shadows on the floor instead of only her own as in previous nights when she dreamed; she would be dancing dressed in the old-fashioned way, in a long lace black dress, with a gentleman with a top hat behind a white mask covering his face, and every time she took the mask off his face so she could kiss her lover, he would vanish into the moonlight. Now it was different because her lips found their way into his every time she turned around.
Words were no needed when his mouth fiercely attacked hers, stealing kisses, stealing her breath, in an attempt to show her he was real, and he had missed her during the time he had been asleep, he cornered her against a wall when the melody finished; he grasped her hips as though he would prevent her from escaping his embrace and intertwined his lips with hers; she noticed it was the exact moment in her dream when the kisses stopped in her neck and the pleasure changed into pain. And she now found herself trying to push him away due to the sharp pain she was feeling, although his hands would make her to stay in place, where he could feed on her, as he had been doing every night.
His mouth moved mercilessly, sucking her blood and her life, and she was about to black out due to the throbbing pain, Lucifer lifted his head to check on her, she was woken up by the blood dripping from his mouth, falling on her chest; she gasped in horror, when she realised the huge amounts of red liquid were coming from her own body.
"What are you doing?" She asked with a low voice, completely frozen due to the fear running through her veins at the picture of the man with sharp teeth, whose face was covered in her blood, that seemed he was enjoying it as if she was some kind of dessert, as though he was a wild animal that had been starved to death who licked his lips, teeth and fingers in desperation. It was not Lucifer but some kind of monster who had taken his appearance.
"I am making you mine". He replied and took his stained fingertips to her face. "Pease be not afraid".
Taking her blood was a new experience he had not faced before when he was alive and had become an addiction over the last few weeks, her blood was so sweet and revitalizing and would have liked to drown in it, he wanted to own her soul; but despite his arousal, seeing her being scared of him was enough to make him to stop.
"Soon we'll be together in eternity, as we had previously discussed about... unless you changed your mind while I was away".
"No".  She stuttered, she wanted to be with him, but she was afraid of what he was doing, of what was happening, was he even real? The pain felt very real though.  She breathed in and moved her head by the side so he could have access to her neck, and he could finish whatever he was doing, since she trusted him, and she had made up her mind about it. "I want to be with you, take me with you".
He stopped for a second and walked around the room for a couple of minutes.  He opened the window so the wuthering automnal wind would take the pungent smell of blood away and the smell of dew and petrichor would instead fill the room. The moon was shining amidst the flicking clouds in the gloominess of the nocturnal sky and the music of the piano continued to play in order to drown her whimpers.
"I wish there was other way". He took her to the bed, crawled and remained on top of her, taking her face and fixing his eyes on hers, attempting to let her know he loved her very deeply and everything he was doing was something that needed to be done, he knew Diavolo would disagree and get into trouble, and Solomon would start a war when they found out and that was why they would need to elope. "It's going to hurt".
"Just do it before the sunrise comes and I thereby, wake up and refuse to whatever this is". There were tears in her face that he wiped away by kissing one by one, he left another soft kiss in her lips before he moved his mouth to her neck again. She moaned in pain at the kiss that became a bite, and inevitably some tears rolled down her cheeks again, she felt as though being stabbed and losing everything she had. There was some kind of nostalgic feeling flooding her heart, it was melancholy. She was tired, and even his attempts to turn the situation into a seductive game as he had seen in media those nocturnal creatures did, failed, since no kisses or touches would make her body react, no pleasure could overcome the pain of life being drained from her body. She looked at the window, the dim sun of the Devildom was coming out, and she realised, it was going to be the last time she saw it, she cried because of the pain, because she was almost regretting her choice and she was scared, but she knew it was too late. Lucifer's hands were stained with blood as his clothes were, there was some kind of evil beam in his eyes.
"I guarantee the first thing you'll see when you open your eyes, will be me".
She believed in his words, yet she was afraid she would never wake up again, for she had never felt that ill ever before.
"Now sleep, sweetheart, rest in peace, I will see you tonight. I will attend to your funeral and suffer as you suffered because of me, but then, not even death will be able to tear us apart, for our love and bond is stronger than time".
He kissed her lips once more, and left vanishing into the moonlight as she had seen before in her dreams, the only sound left in her despair was the clock announcing the upcoming end.
"MC! MC!" it was the desperate voice of the brothers in unison, they were worried about her; they were suggesting making a transfusion, anything that could heal her, and sobbing, exploding in wrath when the doctor said nothing else could be done.
Then absolute silence and darkness, oblivion.
"I had been waiting for you; I told you, I was going to be here by the time you woke up".
He took her in his arms and kissed her, her fragility would never cease to enchant him; she stared at the horizon and noticed the sun cursed their existence and they would remain in the shadows; she smiled, even if they were damned to live in the darkness, their love was now embraced by eternity.

Tumblr media
The lights had turned down a while ago, the windows were open, and the sound of a light rain had drowned any noises around the house, but not the pictures burning in his brain. Heavens tears were dripping on the windows' glasses, beating them in synchrony with his heart, both the rain and his heart beat, slowly increasing their pace, as he kept wandering in that distant land, more than seven thousand miles away from home and days ago in time.
It had all started on a weekend in May, the nights were clearer, and the heat had reached its maximum. He had been doing some paperwork that had to be submitted that same night, even if it was Saturday. It was hard enough to get to focus on something that dull while the temperature made his cheeks blaze and his brain slow down, but it became harder when he decided to open the windows so he could get a bit of the late spring breeze and then had to contemplate how the other inhabitants of the house looked to be enjoying the weather, playing around, abandoning the house for a night out with the promise of leaving a unforgettable memory for the years to come.
Among the joy radiating from his brothers, as if it was a dark cloud in a clear blue sky, he could perceive a shadow that had a despondent face hidden between colourless fingers.
"Cm'on, MC, let's go to the casino, the drinks are on me".
"Sorry Mammon, but I'm not feeling like going to a casino tonight".
"She'd rather go to the spa with me".
"Or to the collectible merchandise pop up store for the new comedy 'I wished I lived in my Otome game and then it came true and now finally I'm living the life I wanted ' that is only open for limited time with me!"
"Actually, no boys, I think I'll pass tonight, and I'll stay here and wander around the garden, you guys go out and have fun, bring me some souvenirs".
After a few moments of disagreement, the crowd vanished, the breeze had scattered them as though they were tree leaves, leaving only a shadowy figure under the tree, in complete silence and loneliness.
"You should go out and have fun too, MC".
"I did not feel like it".
The man sat down by your side, and looked at the reddish sky, it was the closest you could have to a sunset, you looked at it as well, it was pretty but not as much as the stunning sunsets from the human world; you loved the Devildom and you had learnt to think of it as home, but sometimes you really felt homesick about the human world. His gaze met your glistening eyes.
"May I know the cause of your sorrow?" he asked with a soft voice, despite the fact his usual severity was present, you could tell he was worried, maybe he was afraid that you were not taking care of yourself.
"I'm not sad". You tried and he rolled his eyes at you.
"I presume you are homesick. Perhaps we could arrange that Diavolo allows you to go to the human world for a week, or a couple of weeks if possible, I consider that would solve any problems regarding your mental health".
You panted but nodded.
"Whatever, you'll let me know, right? You should go back to work, it looks like it is very important".
He frowned.
"You certainly do not seem happy with my resolution, but I'm not able to help you further if you do not tell me what the issue is".
"It's nothing, I mean, what could be wrong? I've always loved to spend my Saturday nights alone in the darkness, I mean, that's what you have a boyfriend for, right? That's just the ideal date: being all alone in the garden while he complies with his owner's orders, and that is as well the perfect definition of a boyfriend, the kind of boy who is working in his office all day and night long, and he ends up being so tired it takes him a second to fall asleep, and in addition, he forgets you exist".
You were not that kind of person, but lately everything felt like too much, he was never around when you needed him, and you had started to feel really bad about it, and yes, maybe you were homesick too, you longed for the human world's summertime.
"I beg your pardon?" Lucifer looked at you, he was confused, and he could not believe you were behaving like this and expressing your feelings in such way.
"You never spend time with me anymore! I'm tired of being broken hearted, it is like you take me for granted all the time".
Those words sent a different kind of pain to his chest and a bitter taste to his mouth. Had he been that thoughtless? Had he been so careless? He knew well his six brothers, lower range demons, some of the angels and even Diavolo himself and all members of the student council had fallen for you, and you had chosen him, you were dating him and not the other way round, as much as that expression hurt his pride, he would not care less; and yet, it did not sound like he deserved such honour.
His face remained calm, but his heart was beating faster than ever.
"I apologise about that" he whispered, he was almost wordlessly, he could only reach out for your hand as answer.
"It's ok, I did not mean to throw a hissy fit about that". You said after some moments of silence. "It is not important. Go back to your work, I will listen to your advice, and I will go out and have some fun instead, being locked up here is getting on my nerves".
You let his hand go and rose, then walked towards the house of lamentation, vanished into your bedroom. Lucifer sighed, and returned to his office as well, he left the window open so he could keep an eye at the entrance and at you, he did not think you would dare go out alone despite your words, he was sure you acknowledged how dangerous it was to venture yourself into the blackness of the Devildom streets, but he would like to check in case you did or something else happened.
The hours in front of the monitor had affected his already tired eyes, he blinked several times, he was almost blind. He rubbed his eyes when a cloud in his eyes came to life, and moved around as if it was an actual being. He approached to the window and noticed it was not an effect of the light, but it was his human going out as he had suggested. But why were you dressed like that?
A short sparkling dress indicated what your plans were, Lucifer did not want to think too hard about it. He did not want to be possessive, but it was his true nature, he could not help it, and he would be lying if he said that the mere thought of you being seen by everyone like this did not make his blood boil, or maybe it was the thought of you meeting someone attracted by you who would make you think was a better option than he was. Which was another thought he was not being able to bear, even if they were probably right about it.
"So... are you going out after all?" He had decided to casually interfere, now that he was coming closer his pace was slow, and he was glad you didn't see when he literally ran out of his study so he could get to you before you finally left, his demeanour was calm, but fire flowed through his eyes.
"I am". You said nonchalantly, hanging your bag on your right shoulder, looking at the pocket mirror in your hand, and approving the way you looked. He approved it too, but he did not approve you were going out and all of those demons got to see you too.
"May I know where you are going?"
"You have interest in me all of a sudden?" You teased him, with a tiny smile. You had known what his reaction was going to be all along.
"MC..."
"Asmo said he had changed his plans and he would be in a bar with some of his acquaintances, I felt like dancing, so see you later, have fun with your work".
Lucifer looked astonished at you, his mouth and eyes wide open.
"No" he said, it took him less time than you had expected, it had been a long time since the last time he had talked to you in that way, determination impregnated in his voice.
"Sorry?" You frowned, looked at him in feigned confusion.
"You're not going there".
"And why not? Just because you don't want me to go?" You mocked him.
"Just because you're going somewhere else".
You frowned again, trying to catch your thoughts because you were now clueless about what his words meant, but he did not hesitate, and soon he had you against the closest wall with no way out, his lips so close to your collarbone, you could feel his warm breath in your skin, sending shivers throughout your body, leaving you like a little inoffensive sheep cornered by a wolf; showing you why he was called the avatar of pride and the ruler of the underworld.
" You have five minutes. Pack your things up, we're leaving for a whole week".
A smile was drawn on your lips, lightning up yours and Lucifer's faces as well, there was some kind of complicity between the both of you that made your hearts race, then, you bit your lower lip and nodded after he whispered into your ear "it's an order, attendant".
You did as you had been prompted. You hurried upstairs and got some clothes in your bag, as well as some basic supplies. Soon you had a backpack with you, and you were waiting for Lucifer to knock at your door.
Which he did, sort of. He did not wait for an answer and just entered your room, taking your bag.
"But what about your work? And Diavolo? And everyone else?, they could get worried if we just leave like this".
"They'll have to deal with it".
He took your hand in his and hurried out the house of the lamentation, dragging you along with him.
"You did not even tell me where we're going".
He remained silent, you imagined you were going somewhere near the devildom, but once you saw you were coming closer to the border with the human world, you knew.
"Didn't we need some kind of authorisation from Diavolo to leave the Devildom?"
Lucifer shrouded. He never stopped until you two were walking down the wet pavement, surrounded only by orange buildings whose white mouldings stood out in the gloom of the night.  You were trying to figure out where you were, but nothing gave you the slightest clue about it.
You had no option but to follow the man inside the orange building and then to the single bedroom for two. You looked through the window while he arranged everything related to your stay there. You saw the fancy houses and cars parked outside of them, it was really Lucifer like, you did not have a single clue where you were, until the blue and red flag let you know.
"Is this Mayfair?"
He smiled.
"You wanted to go to a bar, didn't you?"
You did not notice when he got rid of his coat, still wearing his devil every day clothes, he forced you to leave again.
The pub was overflowing with people and loud catchy music, you could get lost in such a crowd at any second, because the lights danced leaving blindness behind.
Fortunately, the so-called avatar of pride never let go of you, and soon you noticed you two were swinging to the beat of the music in the background, he had placed your arms around his shoulders and his hands held you in place with a grasp on your hips.
Your body had captivated him, but once your foreheads were close enough, your eyes stole his complete attention, you could see yourself in them, being unknown in such a crowd was revitalizing, his movements let you know he was enjoying himself more than ever, and you realised how much mistaken his brothers were when they thought Lucifer did not know how to have fun. Maybe it was the fact he had already drunk three glasses of wine, you did not expect him to get drunk off human alcohol, considering that demonous was at least fifth times stronger, but he was proving you wrong.
His always earnest, composed, paper like face, was now cheerful, his sharp teeth stuck out of his lips, as if they were thirsty for blood, your blood. In addition, a distinct gleam was radiating from his eyes, the kind of gleam he had when you were around and you pretended you weren't aware of his gaze, and that he would hide away when he realised you had noticed. This time he was not trying to skulk it, it was in plain sight, as he wanted you to notice. It felt as though he was devouring you using only his eyes, and you could feel your legs shaking, almost making you fall to your knees and hit the floor.
Summer heat impregnated your bodies and your minds, Lucifer's demonic personality stood out on the changing environment surrounding both of you. Your movements had made the two of you get closer. His hands on you lower back, yours in his hair. He would not say it out loud, but you could perceive he was waiting for more, for the next step, but he doubted, because you were sure he did not want to harm you and that was why he would patiently wait, although you were sure, it would not be for so much longer.
It was your turn to take his hand, to take the initiative to let him know it was fine, you got to the silent streets, where you hailed a taxi, what a blessing the taxi had some kind of compartment and the driver was not able to see the kisses you were stealing from your demon, and how he was devouring your mouth in return.
The car stopped and you two hurried your way upstairs to the flat Lucifer had got for you, something burned inside you, you wanted to be closer to him, even closer since you were already closer than ever already, your kisses were preventing you from getting to your bedroom, the avatar or pride was slowly ousting the avatar of lust and taking his place. The door opened as if welcoming the two of you. You did not notice when Lucifer was over you, staring with his lustful eyes at you, as if you were his prey with no way to escape.
You wanted to say something, but your senses were preventing you from thinking, you were not able to remember your actions either, so probably you had managed to say Lucifer's name, because he had also heard a whisper, his name slipping away from someone's lips, he left your neck for a second, leaving the heat behind for a moment, staring at the darkness, something was wrong, something felt odd, he had recognised that voice.
"For hell's sake..."
You let totally go from Lucifer's grasp and stood up.
"It's not fair you thought you could have MC all for yourself!"
"And all the fun". Asmodeus seconded Belphegor.
He rolled his eyes at his brothers, your cheeks reddened, while you were trying to recompose yourself, hoping no one had seen your previous scene.
"Of course, no one would like to invite the otaku shut in along, I had that coming".
Lucifer sighed, took his hand to his forehead and rubbed it in frustration, shutting his eyes close. His plans had been spoiled in the worst of ways.
"What are you doing here?" Lucifer did not try to hide his annoyance. A tiny smile was drawn on Satan's face.
"How did you know we were here?" You finally asked.
Lucifer got his phone out of his pocket and checked it carefully because Satan's gaze suggested he knew something he did not.
"We have an alert when you leave for the human world, you know, and as every time you do it you bring MC with you, we just wanted to check she was fine". Satan replied, the cunning smile never fading.
"So, we should all have a sleepover, since it's too late to go out now".
"Or we could all join Lucifer and MC in their activities, I think they were having fun".
You blushed again, failing at hiding it and your eyes meeting the floor.
"I think the sleepover would be better, there are always snacks in a sleepover". Beel commented. "And human snacks, which is even better".
"I think it sounds like a good idea, the eight of us can have fun that way. I'll just go to put my pajamas on".
You panted once you were alone in your bedroom for the night, even if you pretended a sleepover with all of them was a good idea and you loved all seven of them, you had really been looking forward to spending some time with Lucifer, alone. It tasted as if you had swallowed disappointment. You looked yourself in the mirror and forced yourself to smile.
Throughout the night, Lucifer and you were only able to exchange looks while his brothers were not paying attention, because they would always interfere when you were trying to speak, but with a single blink, he let you know he would find a way. You were trying to focus on the board games, and at the end you managed to have a good time when you were singing karaoke together. None of you knew when you had fallen asleep on the floor.
The morning came sooner than expected, it was summer, school was supposed to be over, so why were they forced to wake up at that time in the morning?
"Lucifer, for g- Diavolo's sake, what do you think you're doing silly? We had a blast last night, I have barely slept, and I need my sleeping beauty".
The demon whose arms were crossed over his chest looked annoyed at them, he was not happy, he was not even joyful, even considering the fact he was getting to punish his brothers, one of the things he enjoyed the most in the world.
"That's the consequence of leaving without authorisation, Diavolo called me when he noticed none of you were at home, and I had to promise him, this would do some kind of good to the Academy in order to cover the expenses, so we're going to the museum, and you'll submit afterwards a detailed report about it. I've booked tickets for the first tour in the morning, so stop complaining; haste your breakfast and hygiene, we're leaving soon". He looked at his watch in his wrist before speaking again: "and that's in fifteen minutes, so hurry up, or you'll never see the sunlight of the human world ever again, I guarantee you".
Lucifer's threats were always serious, his punishments would always be something to remember, the crowd showed disapproval during the next fifteen minutes and during the walk towards the museum that took them about thirty minutes, but Lucifer remained silent, he was concentrating on something the others were not able to tell.
All of them, strolled together along the corridors and through the white marble halls of the museum, the guide explained every single detail in every single painting and sculpture, that outlined human genius from different times and places. There was something about humans, it did not matter where they were from, how they looked like or what language they spoke, they were all the same, just fascinating. All of the demons admired the way they were able to expose their feelings and true colours in those art pieces, it did not take long for them to get lost in the world created by the human's eyes, they soon realised it was as captivating as you were.
A couple of hours passed by in complete calm, Lucifer himself was not able to believe he was having some time in peace, and the weight on his shoulders was slowly vanishing.
"Lucifer?" A whisper broke the silence everyone was in, it felt as though blood had stained the white veil of the wedding dress everyone dreamed of you wearing in their fantasies. "I cannot find MC". Beelzebub raised his voice, he had not been able to help it, fright and confusion were drawn on his face.
Lucifer finally paid attention to him, now the same expression could be read in his face: bewilderment, if he had to describe it. He looked around, looking for those red cheeks he knew so well.
"She does not pick her phone either".
He had been staring at his phone now, he had been thinking of calling you as well, hearing that made him freeze. Even if he knew the human world was safer than the Devildom itself, your whereabouts were always a reason of concern.
"Remain calm, everyone" Although the one who had to take that piece of advice would have to be himself. "I'll go check with the guard, I'm sure she's in another room or in the toilet, stay together, I don't want more disappearances".
Everyone remained quiet and silently agreed to his instruction, Beelzebub suggested the tour guide to give them the lunch break at that moment so they could stay together in a single place. The six brothers sat in the museum's café, they were trying to have lunch but instead they kept staring at the entrance, waiting for Lucifer, they expected to see MC by his side wearing a shy smile.
But that did not happen.
"Now Lucifer is taking an awful amount of time".
"Leave it to me, I'll call him". Mammon suggested after hearing Asmo saying what he was thinking.
"Beel, why is Lucifer's phone in your pocket?" Satan raised an eyebrow in suspicion.
"Oh no, he was so worried he forgot about it. And now if he gets lost, he won't be able to enter the food delivery app, he will starve to death". Everyone could see Beel was really worried about that scenario, he even left his chips by his side for a moment, his face showing worry.
"Let's wait a little longer, and then we'll go back to the flat if they don't show up soon". Satan said and everyone agreed in silence.
It was a shame they were trapped inside when the day outside was so beautiful.
"Are you sure we should be doing this?" You asked a bit worried.
"That's why we escaped from the Devildom in the first place, isn't it? Stop worrying about them and enjoy me instead".
Your cheeks blushed and Lucifer remembered why he had fallen so hard for you, those colours that made you different to anyone else had captivated him. You kept walking together, you were now far away from the museum.
"I know, but they'll be worried, what if they make this bigger than it is?"
"There was no other way, and I would appreciate if you changed the subject, I don't want to think of them at the moment".
You sighed.
"I thought you were the adventurous kind; you know, the girl studying abroad in the Devildom, falling for the bad guy, you should be enjoying this". He snickered at you, and you rolled your eyes at him, but just after a moment, you joined him and laughed, he was somewhat right.
You surmised he was completely right after all, and you should enjoy your little adventure by his side, after all, his brothers had been the ones to show up without permission and without invitation and had spoiled your little time off. You took his hand in yours while you walked down the street after reflecting on this.
The fresh summer breeze was slapping your face, messing with your hair while your eyes fought to stay open, it made you feel at home, at ease, the feeling got stronger when you remembered you were with your lover, as if you were complete, your heart danced, and your blood rushed through your veins to reach it out.
"Fancy some tea? What? We're in London, aren't we?"
"Are you really offering me tea even considering this heat?"
"Would you rather have an ice cream, instead?" Lucifer said and your eyes shone while you nodded in approval. The both of you reached out to the park, it was greener than ever before, and the trees danced to the beat of the wind, Lucifer got you an ice cream that handed to you, and you suggested to sit down in the swings, he looked at you as if you were one more of his childish brothers, but at the end, he gave up, he smiled once you two were slightly moving back and forth, enjoying the good weather and your dessert. The sound of the tree leaves reminded you of a waterfall, the sun warming your body and the sound of people gave you the sort of relaxation, you had been longing for so long.
"Did you leave your phone at the flat as I advised?"
"They'll find it on the bedroom's vanity".
"Good, Satan won't be able to track us down this time".
You shared his devilish smile, knowing you had got your way this time.
"May I try yours?"
Lucifer frowned at you, your smiling face produced some kind of affection to his chest that changed his behaviour every time, it was weird to be seen in public like that, but no one knew him there, he remembered, so he obliged and fed you with his own ice cream.
"Try mine..." you made a grimace when he refused. "Don't make me force you".
"I would like to see you try".
"Sta-"
He groaned, irritated.
"I can do it. There's no need to do that".
He licked your ice cream while you chuckled, perhaps you were actually of the adventurous kind.
"It has a good taste, I think it's almost as sweet as you, although..."
You could not help yourself, seeing his lips move like that, you wished you were the ice cream instead, and therefore, you hurried to steal a kiss from him before he started talking. He blushed, he had not been expecting it, you had caught him off guard, it felt different in comparison to the night before, when you were anonymous, since now everyone around was looking at you two, or at least that's what he thought.
He froze for a second, his pride sheltering him, as if he was in a bubble, a bubble you were breaking with your daring actions, he was completely red, almost out of control when a light split the sky into two, drops falling from the sky started landing on your faces, lowering the temperature, you looked up, definitely there was a huge storm coming.
You did not mind, as long as you could keep holding your beloved one as close as you were now, however, he cared, because he stepped away, and took an umbrella from his coat.
"You didn't bring yours, did you?"
You shook your head. He sighed.
"We should seek shelter before it's too late, we can continue whatever we were doing there".
You stared at the sky, that morning when you looked at yourself in the mirror you had been glad of your choice of clothes, black shorts and black sneakers with a shirt with hues of red, you felt pretty and according to the summer, now that the sky was graying out, you were regretting your choices for the day, perhaps it was not appropriate enough now for the approaching storm. You looked at your bare legs with worry, but then another thought came to your mind, you noticed you had been wearing matching colours and you failed at hiding a smile when you realised it.
You did not want to leave but the grasp of Lucifer's hand made you rose and start walking again down the streets, leaving the natural scenario behind.
"You take it" he forced you to take his transparent umbrella, you looked up and noticed how the drops fell on it, it was a nice umbrella, you could not help but smile while seeing the sky above, crying over you. The calm suddenly changed though, since soon you noticed the light rain turned into a heavy downpour.
"Come here, you're getting wet".  You gestured at the space by your side, under the umbrella.
"I'm fine, you cover yourself".
"I don't want to look after a sick demon when this is supposed to be fun, unless you're doing this because you're too embarrassed to be seen with me in public, which you could openly tell me, I'm not willing to beg for your attention ever again, we can leave things like this right now".
Lucifer took a deep breath, and then after a moment of hesitation, a step closer to you, and then passed his arm around your shoulders, while you kept holding the umbrella.
"If we walk slow enough none of us will be wet".
"And if I keep you this close you won't be cold". He whispered.
You smiled, made him stop in the middle of the street and carefully, placed your arms around his neck, leaving another kiss on his lips. The only thing covering you both was the see-through umbrella and the raindrops falling over it.  Everyone around was looking at you and his cheeks were red as were yours, but you could not care less, you liked it when you made him blush. Even if it was only a side effect of his prideful character.
"You're being very naughty today, aren't you? I think I will have to do something to correct that behaviour". He leaned in and kissed you roughly this time, as if he was trying to demonstrate he could do better than you at being naughty, while he was demonstrating you, he would not care about his perfect image being scratched by you, he had made that decision, even if there was a chance you were encountered by his brothers again showing affection to each other like this. "I missed you, and I promise you, I'll never let work take over my time like this again".
He looked around after leaving you breathless, people had started to pass you by, ignoring you, however he must have seen something, because he stopped. "They found us". He took your hand and simply started to run without giving you any opinion on the matter, the umbrella no longer preventing the water from getting into you, making your body freeze, almost producing pain, and two minutes later your hair and clothes were soaking wet, leaving you tired after that little race. You took the red bus after you had stopped, although you had no idea where it was going to.
"I think we lost them again" Lucifer shook his head, plumping up his hair using his hand. Everything in him was hypnotizing and you could not help but admire his wet hair falling over his forehead, his bright red eyes thinking of something you could not imagine, giving him a mysterious look. You could tell there was some kind of malice in his grimace, he was having fun, he was a damn sadist after all.
"So, who was following us?" You asked trying to get out of your thoughts, trying to remain calm, you looked at the window, attempting to catch a clue of what was happening.
"My brothers, of course".
"How did they find us?"
Lucifer shrugged as if it was no important at all, and then held your hand in silence for the rest of the trip.
Some blocks later across the wet London streets, Lucifer held you by the waist, helping you to descend the bus steps so you would not get wet by stepping into the puddles, as if you could get wetter.
He took you through another narrow hallway, another tall building showing in front of you and covering the sky, and the rain, the only sound that could be heard were your sloppy steps. He led you upstairs, never letting go of your hand, it was silent. You did not stop climbing until you reached out the roof, the wooden door opened before you, leaving the two of you outside, under the no more gray sky, but rather painted in pink and orange hues, due to the fact the sun was coming back.  The view was spectacular, the whole city of London could be appreciated from there, the wind hit your face, reminding you it was not a dream, you were there in flesh and blood.
"I'm glad it was here on time."
You glanced over at the table by the balcony, there was pizza and chips, as well as some drinks, you noticed then you were actually starving.
"Be my guest", he gestured and helped you to have a seat.
You soon were taking a big bite to your pizza slice. The feeling of being chased and your head revolving around was slowly decreasing thanks to the fact you were getting some energy from your meal, and now you were all of a sudden laughing.
"What is it the matter?"
"I cannot believe they followed us all the way here".
"My brothers have always shown some kind of protective affection towards you, it was just logical, although inconvenient, especially when you're trying to have a date".
Your face blushed, and then you stared at your pizza.
"How did you get the food?"
"Beel, he was quite helpful this time... Listen, it might not be the kind of date you were expecting, and I promise you..."
"Stop right there" you cut him off.
"I only wanted to spend some time with you, some quality time with no paperwork just you and I alone, no matter what we're doing, and I am very fond of pizza, so I won".
The fairy lights over your head suddenly turned on, as well as the lights coming from the distant city, you could see the reflection of the sun on the Thames, little ships travelling down its course with their bright flags and lights standing out the growing darkness. It was the phenomena you had been missing, one of the few things that the Devildom could not equal, Lucifer admired the landscape as well, it was likewise, one of his favourite things from the human world, the balance between light and darkness, good and evil, just as it was comprised in its inhabitants.
"I just wanted to make sure you still..." you interrupted yourself, leaving the sentence unfinished, as if you were choosing the correct words to deliver your message.
"I still and I will always love you, MC".
You could not help but smile even wider, you were not able to look at his eyes, you felt like a teenager again, maybe even worse, your legs shook every time you thought of him, your checks reddened when you saw him, and your voice stuttered when you talked to him.  You wanted to tell him you loved him as much, but for some reason you could not get the words out of your mouth.
" I love you too, Lucifer". You finally managed to whisper.
Some fresh music started to sound in the background as if magic had produced it.
"You wanted to dance, didn't you? We've been interrupted every time".
He rose before you could say anything, and dragged you along, soon he had you spinning around the floor, you both laughing because it was something embarrassing (even more embarrassing for the avatar of pride), although you decided he was just enjoying himself as much as you were, which was not usual for him, and you concluded that once in a while, leaving his brothers without surveillance in the middle of the human world creating chaos, was not that bad.
Your body danced to the rhythm of the music for longer than you imagined; his grip on your waist, your hands around his neck, his perfume invading your senses, even standing out the smell of petrichor, the gift that rain had left for you; the sun had totally set when you separated your dreamy eyes from his, and the moon was now shinning over your heads, with its silver light falling over you, casting living shadows over the floor, the stars were sparkling as much as your eyes were. Your hearts were racing, he was not able to take his eyes off you, or his hands, you were both in some kind of trance, you were sure he had managed to cast some sort of spell on you because your brain was not able to command your limbs, they were only controlled by the electricity of his contact.
You did nothing to stop him when his kisses became warmer and more intrusive, or when his hands fought the resistance of the fabric of your clothes; your breath hitched in your chest due to the anticipation with every single kiss and touch, you let yourself fall into his trap of love and seduction, letting the sparks fly in the middle of the fire and the rain. That night, you allowed him to take over your body and soul, you were his prisoner, and you did not want to escape.
The music produced by the scattered raindrops on the glass roof woke you up, it was late, but not that late, the stars were still visible, and the sunlight was barely perceived in the horizon. Everything was quiet, then you remembered who you were with when you felt his warm embrace and soft breath under you.
"Don't leave".  He said, showing some kind of vulnerability he would have hidden if he had been fully awake, that made you heart melt as he had done with your mind and body just a few hours ago, he would not say it out loud, but his heart was completely strung out. "I need your angel eyes".
You snickered and hugged him back. After that night you would not be able to leave him ever again even if you tried. Why had you waited so long to elope?
You softly kissed his lips. It took several minutes for you to get up, none of you wanted to let go the other, but at the end, the responsible side of Lucifer finally showed up. So, you were forced you took a shower, while he took care of making breakfast.
You fixed your appearance in front of the mirror. Lucifer casually walked in to inform you "It's time for breakfast, and then we'll have to leave" and held you from behind and kissed your cheek, then you two stared at each other in the mirror, your faces looked filled with joy and Lucifer particularly, looked as if he had come back to life after being dead for some centuries.
You nodded. Something was wrong with Lucifer today because he was spoiling you too much, the English breakfast before you was not only appetizing to your eyes, but also to your tastebuds.
"The breakfast was amazing". You smiled at him once you had finished.
"I am glad to hear you enjoyed it". He nodded behind his cup of black coffee.
"Thank you". You smiled at him and he, as a natural effect, smiled back at you. "I enjoyed this little trip. Even if it was just a night, instead of the seven days you had promised".
"I apologise about it, I will find a way to compensate it".
You agreed with his statement, you would have liked to stay longer, to do something else, but it was time to go.
The way back on the bus was calm, people was minding their own business and you enjoyed the trip looking at the buildings and the crowds outside.
"Who was following us before we took the bus yesterday?"
Lucifer chuckled and you raised an eyebrow.
"No one was following us, I just sort of felt creative".
You hit his arm and laughed.
"I knew your brothers weren't capable of doing so, they are good boys, you just have to be a bit more patient with them".
"What are you, their lawyer?"
"Please?"
 He sighed.
"Fine, but you'll be responsible for their bad behaviour if you insist on defending them".
You nodded. You knew they would get into trouble often, but it was part of the fun. And most of the times it was nothing serious.
You soon arrived to the Mayfair place where you had first arrived the previous night, a crowd was reunited there and there were some ambulances as well, the street was automatically cosed and Lucifer had to double check it was the correct street, hoping it was the incorrect one, but deep down knowing it was not, he could almost see the scene before his eyes: he could see Mammon starting the problem, Levi and Asmo panicking about it, Beel being too busy eating to notice, Belphie smelling the smoke and deciding it was not worthy enough to wake up, Satan rolling his eyes. Lucifer moved his head in disapproval, sighed in frustration and wasted no time and started to think of an appropriate punishment, whereas you almost fell in his arms when you finally realised the flat and the whole building where you had been staying had been burnt to dust, and it had only taken them a night alone.
"I'm glad you'll get to do the cleaning this time, my little apple-pie". Lucifer whispered into your ear, when you finally met the dusty faces of his six brothers, then he chuckled.
Definitely, you would look for a way to stop acting as their attendant and- what? Lucifer had called you his little apple-pie? For some reason you decided to change your mind. Maybe you could wait a bit longer and keep up with your duties as their attendant.

The way home was as bittersweet as the chemistry that produced those strange feelings inside him towards you because Lucifer was mad at his brothers, and they were fearing for their fate and the punishment Lucifer would give them but there was as well an unobtrusive smile drawn on his lips because of the memories of your previous night together. He was less severe this time, maybe because of what you had told him or maybe for some other reason you were not able to tell, but maybe it was the happiness you two were sharing and weren't able to hide away. With time things settled down, life became what it used to be before your little adventure, although you weren't wretched anymore and every time and then, when Lucifer noticed he was not giving you enough attention he would find a way to have some time alone with you, he would count the days until he could bring you back to him.
"Are you going to sleep or are you going to stare at me all night?" You said, you were not able to sleep because he was not sleeping either and you could feel his red eyes on you even in the dismal darkness.
"Your picture haunts me in the dark while I'm falling asleep, it is not my fault". He sometimes felt like a rag doll, whose pieces belonged to you, and you could manipulate as you wished, and for some odd reason he was fine with it, he had given in, and stopped trying ways to turn it around.
"Oh, shut up, if we want to ride the London eye, we'll have to wake up early". You softly smiled and hugged him, truth be told, you weren't able to escape him anywhere either, not even in your dreams. He kissed your scalp and closed his eyes, you were right.
This was the first day of your second trip together and you could not wait for the adventures to come by Lucifer's side, under the rain in the misty town of London.
- Note: I took the idea of the pet name "apple pie" from some post here on Tumblr because I found it adorable, I just cannot remember who was the user who came up with it, so, if you're the one, let me know to give you credit here :3

The party of death
Ok, but do you remember these stunning cards Obey me! gave us last year? They're so pretty and well I had to write something about them, even if it's short.
(Who knows, maybe I'll write something for Belphie's too?)
Summary: A drabble based on the UR card "Wish upon a soul flower".
Warnings: Comfort, a bit of angst.
Pairing: Lucifer x reader.
You can also find this work on Ao3

A quite peculiar flowery smell overflowed the streets of the Devildom, that were actually darker in that time of the year, since it was the time of the splendor of the autumn in that land, halloween celebrations were over and everybody was supposed to be coming back to their daily activities, yet, that smell encroached on the Devildom giving everyone a feeling of sweet melancholy that nobody was able to explain. No one knew much about it, but you did. Ever since the human exchange student had arrived to the Devildom, some traditions had been adopted, and this was one of them.
The emptiness of the house of lamentation was left behind when your steps took you to the main square of the Devildom, the smells were so familiar your eyes glistened with tears. You soon noticed there were orange flowers everywhere, cempasúchitl, that in the Devildom, ghosts would call soul flowers, but you had first got to know them up in the human world; the flower that looked like the sun, the one with the link to life and death, and was used to honour those who had left; to guide their souls back home, for one night a year they would be allowed to spend time with their loved ones, the ones they had been forced to leave with broken hearts.
You walked down the path surrounded by the petals, the incense was burning, creating a misty environment, its smell mixed with the aroma of the flowers and of the bread that was being displayed in tables, and the hot chocolate that made the denizens bones get warm. You admired the surroundings; it was a beautiful landscape. There were many altars all around the place and even some alegrijes hanging from the buildings.
"Do you fancy some chocolate and pan de muerto, young lady?"
Someone spoke behind you, a huge smile lighted up your face when you noticed it was Lucifer dressed up as a skeleton, with a suit with a traditional flower pattern that also happened to resemble a butterfly, the kind of butterfly that reminded you to your homeplace in the human world; the monarch butterfly that you could see under the blue skies during winter, looking for shelter under the trees. And more orange flowers around his hat.
"I take it you're fond of my attire".
"It's wondrous". He beamed. "All of it".
"Is it as in the human world?" You nodded. "Diavolo asked me to do research on it, I should have asked you, but I wanted to surprise you, and by looking at your face, I can tell the hard work paid off".
You finally took the piece of bread he had offered you and drank from the cup he handed you.
"Scrumptious". You approved; the flavours were on point.
"I have to say this tradition while it's colourful and lively, it's very nostalgic; leaving the food and those things your loved ones enjoyed while they were alive and knowing they're going to stay with you for a whole night so you can be together again..." He stated, then sighed. "No wonder why Diavolo was thrilled by it".
"When I pass away, I'll come to you this night, every year, so make sure to leave a path of flowers for me, so I can find my way home, to you".
He nodded but his eyes glistened, he did not like to remember you were a fragile human who one day would depart, a lump in his throat cut his voice off for a second, so as only answer he wrapped you in his arms and kissed your lips, very softly as though that was your last kiss and he aimed to let you know how much he loved you.
"Hey Lucifer! It's your turn, we want to hear that guitar!"
Diavolo broke your little intimacy moment and Lucifer blushed, reminding you he was flesh and the bones before you were only makeup.
"Come on, we want to listen to you". You cheered and he finally smiled, avoiding the tears roll down his face and taking the guitar he had bought last year during the ghost festival.
Lucifer was the love of your life but hearing him sing one of the traditional songs from your country in your native language in that attire just made you fall harder for him.
A few songs later he returned back to you, and after spending some time with the crowds and eating all the dishes and sweets made of pumpkin and sweet potatoes and getting to paint your face as a skeleton too, he dragged you to a quiet spot where you could see the celebrations from afar and enjoy the environment and the light coming from the candles while your cold hands remained intertwined. The sky was clear and there was some kind of magic in the air.
"I love you, and I will love you forever, MC" he said as he placed his lips on yours once more, reminding you, life was a beautiful thing. "And I will love you beyond death, it won't be able to tear us apart for our hearts are melted into one and I will keep it always safe and you will always be alive in it".
You sheltered in his chest and breathed in, you were sure Lucifer would keep his promise, and so would you.
