Glitch quickly stepped aside as a familiar man came barreling past her. She watched them fly out of the front door of the seedy dive bar, leaving a few heads to turn in his direction briefly before returning to nursing their drinks. Was that-? The young woman looked back at where he came from only to confirm her suspicions when her eyes met with another pair she recognized. To the chagrin of the bartender, she abandoned her apron & serving tray on the bar top, immediately approaching the band.

"You're Jez, right?" Glitch pointed over her shoulder at the front door. "And that was your drummer who flew out of here like a bat out of Hell?" She shook her head as if to rearrange her thoughts, her hand jutting out towards him. "Извини," she apologized. "Glitch. Big fan. Never thought I'd see you guys at this shit hole, like, ever." Her hand is at her hip when free, absentmindedly picking at her frayed corset.

"Is he, uh, coming back, or...?"

"Did --" There was a moment's pause, a faint hitch in his breath as the first of the cuffs were ratcheted into place around his wrist, his gaze shifting between her movements and her face. "Did you know that it is .. technically against the Bureau's code of conduct to use officially, bureau issued restraints for ... " A soft attempt to clear his throat interrupts his thoughts. "For anything other than their intended purpose?" His words were a little more breathy than usual, fingers flexing outwards and relaxing slowly as she snapped the second cuff around his other wrist. "I mean -- I -- I ... won't tell if you won't."

the night they'd shared together had been a fun one, memorable, even, but it was supposed to be just that; one night. it was something they'd both agreed on, and yet... here she was, on the other side of his door's peephole. how the hell had she even gotten his address? did he have a stalker on his hands? flattering, but... concerning. still, he chose to give her the benefit of the doubt, in large part due to how nicely her body was currently filling out that dress -- a dress that would look even better on the floor of his bedroom. or living room, or kitchen, or bathroom... after taking a second to fix his hair, lux tugged open the door, letting his gaze slowly move up and down her body to get a better loo, now that they were face to face. "couldn't resist a round two, huh? typical."

I couldn't help but notice you color your line art sometimes. Do you have any tips on colored line art?

hiii there! thank you for asking!!

just a heads up that i'm notoriously bad at "teaching", and i'm assuming an amount of general knowledge of art programs + layer modes!

i actually don't often "colour" my lineart, at least not in the way a lot of other folks do! i'm used to working as streamlined as possible and developed quick-fire workarounds for most steps during my time in webcomics!

i also have multiple lineart styles! a more textured one with thin lines which i typically use for more polished pieces, and a soft-brush sketch style (inspired by my pal @moonverc3x's lovely lines) that i generally use for less detailed works, though i sometimes get carried away 😅💦

my textured lines don't lend themselves well to those nice and thoughtful coloured lines most folks do. but here's a quick breakdown of my techniques using the soft-brush style!

lines and flats 1) make lineart + flat colour it. my lines are never at 100% opacity, so already some of the colour shows through them anyway! 2) set the lines to multiply mode. because my lines are typically in a colour and not black, this usually works well enough for me, as you can see in the second image! i frequently just call it done here!

hand coloured lines a) if i do want to take the time to colour the lines individually- often things like metals, especially warm golds, require this added detail to really help them pop- i'd just lock the layer opacity and pick a colour that suited and apply where needed. this is fairly standard! b) a second version of the same technique, with higher contrast/more saturation to suit my tastes and a little extra finessing (especially around the eyes). this is very much a "to taste and time/energy" thing! sometimes at this stage i'll add high contrast slaps of colour such as bright purple or blue

my overlay-lines technique a) the second technique that i use is actually very fast and usually gives an okay-enough look. it's what i use for high-speed professional webcomic work (with my textured lines) to give the illusion of individually coloured lines for basically zero effort. so starting with the base lines set to multiply, as seen in (2), then, b) duplicate both the lines and the colours (with shading, if you have it). clip the colours to the duplicated lineart layer, ostensibly "colouring" the copied lines the exact same colour as the colours. set this duplicated layer to overlay, and adjust opacity as needed

you can kinda see that the overlay lines method is not as specific in colour as the hand-picked ones above, and it will suffer from overlap based on where your flats come to underneath the lines. but i find it helps especially when you have high contrast light colours in the work (ie starstruck's face mask) as the lighter colours brighten up the linework in those places significantly.

for highly polished works i would come back and still pick out areas to finesse individually. there's ultimately no quick substitute for spending more time on your work!

there's about a thousand and one other combinations of these effects you can do, such as using the duplicated lines on multiply instead, or further painting over the top, etc etc. but duplicating the colour layer and clipping it to the lineart is one of the techniques i developed that sped up my work process most significantly over the years!

Okay so I am about to be so incredibly normal. I made a little species in high school and have one (1) character of that species named Chester whom I love very much, I decided to create a little, research paper? about them because I have figured out a lot of things except for the Common Name for the species :)

(Feline family, aspid with ancient Greek roots meaning venomous)

The example of the skeletal structure is my own boy, Chester. The skeleton is very feline-like closest to a domestic cat, the only difference being that extra pair of legs with the semi-fused shoulder blades.

Those upper legs, or "Pedipalps," have a lower range of movement than the front legs, making them useless for movement but very good for carrying things. Kits are carried by the scruff, but other items like some types of prey and supplies for building nests in the wild are carried using these legs. Domesticated ones may use them to carry around their toys if preferred.

These Pedipalps are also very powerful and useful for digging out dens in the wild. They will find a suitable area and dig a fully underground home for their pack, always living in groups of 3 or 4.

These creatures have Antennae closest compared to a moth. The antennae are used for scenting the area as their sense of smell in the nose is not that strong, this combined with the "Jacobson's Organ" still gives them a pretty good idea of the smells in the area, though not in the same way a Feline or Canine may detect those smells.

The tip of the tail is made of the same kind of fur/feathering as the antennae, while thought that it coupe also be used for "scenting" it is mostly used as a sensory organ to keep better track of surroundings as they don't have a good sense of hearing. The different shapes also seem to be used for easier communication and signaling between their pack, family, or even strangers encountered nearby.

The single eye in the center is very interesting. It is not the only eye they have. There are six more eyes placed in groups of three on either side of their large eye.

The center eye helps them see in much more detail, maybe being able to see or capture movement that would be lost to other species. While those other eyes help hone in on what they're hunting, making the creature more aware of their surroundings, usually these eyes are closed when the animal is relaxed as they have no need for it unless in a higher stress situation. This same behavior can be observed in those domesticated during play.

The eye is also interesting because it is a form of sexual dimorphism (while not always, is the case for 90% of the population). The males tend to form a much more interesting shape of pupil as they grow older, like a star or heart shape, that don't seem to naturally occur. While the females have more "boring" shapes that you may be able to find in other species of animal, like simple circles or squares. This has no effect on their sight.

Another fun fact about the eye is that Kits will have blue eyes for a few weeks after being born just like kittens do, they eventually grow into their adult color which, if you know what you are doing can be found out before that point. The color of the eye is completely dependent on the color of their blood and organs, like birds of paradise, this is their dash of color to attract mates.

Their hunting style is very comparable to a regular feline. They will stalk their prey before jumping out and killing it. The key difference is that unlike most felines, they do not have retractable claws, only having small points that barely do damage to another, relying entirely on their fangs and venom.

Yes! These guys are venomous! Not any large amount like their name might imply, but enough to paralyze, at most, an animal the size of small rabbit completely. While taking on bigger prey is an issue for one, when hunting in a pack, they can easily take down something much bigger with the combined use of paralyzing venom.

The usual prey they hunt individually. However, are small animals like mice, birds, shrews, and in some places, large insects like tarantulas. Because their mouths are not built for chewing, they will use their fangs to suck the blood out of their prey, like a spider eats bugs or a vampire bat.

Most wild examples live in colder climates, resulting in a much thicker fur and in a lighter color for camouflage, but there are examples of them living in warmer climates, with both a thinner fur type and completely different, and usually darker, coloring. Domesticated animals can come at almost any shape and form now.

The wild one you will notice has camouflaging most similar to wildcats that live in snowy areas, the light coloring allowing her to blend in with the snow.

The Domesticated ones however, you can more closely compare to a domestic tabby cat, with colors ranging from one solid color to markings just like a house cat.

Another thing of note is that you can see more clearly here how the Male and Female Dimorphism with the pupils looks like with the female having a square pupil and the male having a "heart" shaped pupil, while the kit still hasn't developed her eye color or shape, while she is young it will stay round and black, until the color comes in once she's older.

Blitz had been comfortably lounging beside him, entirely captivated by the television's colorful screen. The imp's tail even gave a happy little wag here and there when it didn't seek to coil itself around the owl's leg. A gesture of reassurance, Stolas now understood, and a comfort to them both. Vermillion hues with brilliant white orbs watch him, sweeping along toned, familiar figure.

Fingers wrap loosely around the end of @blitzbuckz 's tail, thumb brushing gently over the flat of its spade. "Blitzy," he calls, seeking to seize his attention, "I. . . would it be alright. . . " Fuck, this was ridiculous. Why was it suddenly so difficult to speak, to ask this of him? Get it together. You've done far nastier things before! "Might I steal a kiss~?"
