This is a really bad take on River and here's my attempt at showing why.

No. Because Rose Tyler didn't get banged up in jail with twelve thousand consecutive life sentences for a murder she was accused of committing. Because Rose Tyler didn't have a promise to keep in helping her husband keep the ruse of his death intact (which is also why she has to leave in the end to go back to Stormcage to keep up appearances).

Because really, if they could, they would rather have the Doctor and River Song, in the TARDIS. Next stop: everywhere.

Am confused with this one because "i will never be the person you think I am"? Wording could be better I think. But this is my take from what I understand of it. They never know what events the other has lived through everytime they meet up. That's why they have diaries, to know what should and should not be mentioned. But to River, the Doctor is the Doctor no matter which face she bumps into. So, not really sure what this sentence is saying. Would love a clarification.

The “I will never be the person you think I am each time we meet because our timelines are not synced” reminds me when I once heard someone say they don’t like River because of how ‘inconsistent’ her character is—One, her and the Doctor are meeting one another out of order, from different points in their timelines. LKH River is different from SiTL River as is TWoRS River from THoRS River. Two, we as viewers (for the first time) are watching from the Doctor’s POV. Like what 15 says, “We’re doing rehab out of order” but instead of rehab, it’s character development/improvement. And three, Moffat uses a lot of subtext. There are gaps and things we don’t get to see, however, they are sometimes implied.

Ohmygosh. I. LOVE. YOU. EMS. Exactly! They take River as a character and compare her to Rose Tyler who we meet from the Doctor's POV and in a linear manner. And then they force River into that same box? River, who has constantly been introduced as a time traveller and meets her spouse out of order (not in the finite sense) and therefore, cannot, at that basic level, be justifiably compared to Rose? Like flaps hands in consternation

An important part of the Doctor and River’s relationship is that River loves the Doctor for WHO THEY ARE, seeing past whatever body they happen to be wearing. She doesn’t care that ten has a different face than the ones she’s kissed — she’s just sad that the person she loves doesn’t KNOW her, which is consistent with episodes with early Eleven! As soon as she realizes who twelve is, they instantly fall into the same natural rhythm she enjoyed with eleven. “So what do you think, by the way?” “Of what?” “My new body.” “Oh, I’ll let you know, I’ve only seen the face.” Meanwhile Rose cares a LOT about the Doctor’s body, associating it with who he is. Forget her asking newly regenerated-ten to change back (that can be attributed to her confusion about regeneration) — her reaction in The Stolen Earth speaks volumes when the Doctor starts to regenerate. “But I came all this way! You can’t!” It would seem to indicate that she doesn't see beneath the face he’s wearing at the time, and she sees his regeneration as an abandonment of her rather than a hardship that he's experiencing.

I think that applies to OPs final point too, hard. “Rose Tyler took one look at him, saw right through the mask, and said that’s it.” I think it’s more that she sees him as a good person after the Time War when he can’t quite believe that he is and wants to travel with him forever because he makes her feel special… especially in the Rose novelization

Also when they say “even tho we barely see each other for a long time” a lot of people make the mistake of thinking their only interactions are the ones we see onscreen. A lot of people forget the wonderful world of Jim the Fish huff XD

Even the Doctor admits she's smarter than him on many stuff. But really what they are are equals. With other beings, the Doctor has to explain so they can catch up. With River, it amazes him how she can keep up with him and can even be a step or two ahead. Really shouldn't like that, kinda do. And of course she acts like she knows everything about him, she's his wife for goodness' sake. What do you think they do on all those dates? Barely see each other for a long time? Pfft. Oh please. Have you seen how the Doctor always steps into her personal space? Have you read the Day of the Doctor novelization where he sought her out for his Zygon problem because she's River and she'd definitely know how to handle this but I'm not gonna tell her I think that? And what about that "and Doctor Song? In prison all her days? Her days, yes. Her nights, well... that's between her and me." And what about that "he came when I called just like he always does"? And of course she knows his name River you know my name. You whispered my name in my ear. There's only one reason I could tell anyone my name. There's only one time I could. Hush. Spoilers."

I don't want to say anything non positive towards another companion, especially someone who helped the Doctor so much after the Time War. But I'm going to say this - comparing Rose Tyler and River Song to each other and reducing them to this and that will never be a good take.

River was raised and trained from birth to kill the Doctor. The Doctor's failures? All the people, events, places that he had failed to save? River had them for bedtime stories. To be able to break through that conditioning and save the one person she was told is a demon, I'd say that's a pretty big thing.

The thing is Rose is someone who met the Doctor and went on adventures with him, saved the world with him, brought him to back to loving life, and loved him (and that's coming from me who still has to go through her era so I acknowledge that it may not be comprehensive).

River is someone who's known the Doctor since birth but as a villian, the destroyer of worlds, the devil himself. She knows of every single way to kill him. But she overcame all that and started taking back control of her life. She chose who she loved and what she did with that love. She studied archeology to piece together the Doctor apart from what has been told to her by Kovarian and Amy and then ended up excelling in that profession and even went on to become a well-respected professor.

Comparing these two without considering that they're two individuals who are fantastic and brilliant and amazing and wonderful in their own way is really unfair to who they are.

truth be told, shouto never wanted children 

he knew how important someone’s childhood meant

shouto honestly couldn’t trust himself not to mess it up :(

so imagine his surprise when he came to fall in love with this little boy, no older than six, he found snooping around a dumpster 

it’s actually kind of funny how they came to be bc shouto was 100% put off by the kid

when they made eye contact, they stared at each other like

before the brat blew him a raspberry and tried to run off 

ofc he caught up to him and, despite the boy’s tantrum, the two went straight to the police

and for some reason, todoroki ended up with him in his condo

the first couple of weeks were terrible 

it seemed like Yuuma hated his guts 

shouto let him have his space and only really pestered him when it was time to do the essentials

at midoriya’s suggestion, he’d try and talk to him about his day or how his therapy sessions went, but it was no use 

the boy would tell him not to worry about it and scurry off 

this happened for some time and honestly, todoroki was at his wit’s end 

until one day, shouto realized that it wasn’t that the child hated him, he just didn’t want to be a burden him

then everything clicked 

mustering up the courage, todoroki one day asked Yuu if he’d like to help him make dinner and the way the kid’s eyes brightened up at the chance to be useful made him a bit sad

but he pushed it away in favor for how the boy blossomed as he showed shouto the right way to stir meat stew and make onion rings

at the end, the red n white hero gave him an honest smile and thanked him for his help

Yuuma looked at him for a long time before bursting into tears 

it was the first time shouto had seen him cry in weeks 

it was also the first time they hugged

from then on, it was almost magical how well they clicked 

the boy was exitable and extroverted, todoroki was quiet and reserved 

they were both stubborn to a fault sometimes and that didn’t bode over well during the few disagreements they had but they brought the best out in each other 

shouto made the kid feel safe and secure, always reminding him that anything he did for him was never burdensome 

Yuuma gave the hero a confidence boost and a chance at another type of love he never knew he wanted 

the first time his son called him dad was when todoroki made the adoption official 

Yuuma shyly asked if it was okay that he called him his father and shouto will not admit to the tears he desperately tried to hide from a teasing midoriya and his siblings (ofc he had them there)

no one knows this but todoroki literally had separation anxiety the first couple of years

his child was just fine being with the babysitter but shouto would spend his work days/nights feeling very tense being away from him 

called/texted the kid all the time, left him encouraging sticky notes in his lunch box, and would hug him for at least 3 min before leaving the house

he’s such a mother hen bye

he’s lucky yuu adores him bc he was lowkey doing a lot LMAO

they have movie nights together and geek over manga like nerds 

yuuma cosplayed as roy mustang once and todoroki has an album of pics from that day alone 

todoroki’s the type to randomly bring his son fruit just because 

yuuma regularly slept in shouto’s bed/futon until around 7th grade

as his son got older, and more popular (w the ladies AND gents hehe) at school, todoroki got a little jealous bc yuuma wanted to spend more time with his friends

he was legit hurt the first time yuu canceled on movie night to go to a sleepover 🥺

todoroki moped over it until midoriya told him to knock it off 💀

it’s a shameful quality of his, but shouto will always lie to get his kid out of the stupid shit he gets himself into only bc yuu plays really funny pranks 

has to keep himself from laughing in front of the principle

he’s a really supportive father and he has his hiccups, but todo tries his very best and his son makes him impossibly proud every day

midoriya was born and bred to be a father

midoriya has two girls that are about a year apart

due to the immense pressure of being with the #1 hero and an unwillingness to be a mother, his then girlfriend at the time suddenly left him, signing over all maternal rights to the hero 

it just crushed izuku 

he spent weeks trying to look for her and to make it work 

he wanted his girls to have a two-parent household, but she went radio silent 

it was a difficult adjustment 

but deku is the most ambitious and resiliant person on the planet so he was devoted to giving them the best lif he could 

and ofc he had the support of all his friends and his mother 

but there were a lot of ups and downs

mostly downs in the first year being a single parent

at the time, his youngest wasn’t even one whiles eldest was almost two 

and izuku worked a lot 

being #1 meant he was the country’s go-to whenever something happened and he missed a lot of stuff he’d never get to redo 

like his youngest, Maia’s, first word which was “bunny”

and the first time his oldest, Naomi, went to the bathroom by herself 

and izuku will never forget the day he came to pick his kids up after being on a week long international mission

when he reached out for them, they looked at him as if they didn’t know who he was 

izuku spent the entire night crying in inko’s arms 

the next morning, he only had to deliver some paperwork, but everyone noticed the usually chipper hero’s sour mood and stayed clear from his path

even bakugo and todoroki felt chills when izuku passed by 

it was tough, but deku was determined 

he started taking up night shifts so he could be there for his girls during the day

he’d pick them up from inko’s right after work and spend the day playing with them 

izuku stayed up on a dangerous amount of caffeine and will power

there were days he literally passed out from exhaustion, but it was worth it to see them through their milestones 

when Naomi went to kindergarten, he couldn’t stop buzzing around w excitement

he just adored listening her ramble on about what she learned and that persisted on even as she grew

like, she’s a genius

she was his doppleganger in intellect and resilience

she’s def a daddy’s girl and although she’s not as empathetic as her father, they’re very close 

naomi is an excellent older sister and stepped up early when izuku couldn’t always be there 

maia is izuku’s match in personality

she’s very sweet, a bit more extroverted, and compassionate

but pls don’t get it twisted, that girl gives the fam a run for their money 

she’s got izuku’s righteousness but heightened 100x and with a lot more anger

the girl’s got quite the mean mug and she got hands highkey

they both do tbh (i mean, izuku is their dad...)

the amount of fights naomi’s had to back her up in is ridiculous 😭

they’re two peas in a pod tho so if you mess w one sister, you mess w both ‼️

regardless of all that, izuku wouldn’t change them for anything 

he’s the type to obnoxiously kiss them on their cheeks before school

they’ll take turns doing each other’s hair

izuku gets pigtails that he proudly wears to work 

deku has a private instagram that is so filled with those two, sometimes ppl forget it’s his

he def has a “girl dad” t-shirt

he calls them his angels 🥺

i see him getting a tattoo of their names on his arm or something

they’re all cry babies so when they get into arguments, it doesnt last long

both girls went to UA to be heroes and izuku’s heart just soars with pride every day 

he also cried an obnoxious amount and for some odd reason, kept popping up for “demonstrative purposes”

they had to have a family talk so they could tell him to stop babying them in the kindest way possible 

and by that i mean, naomi said it bluntly and maia did damage control lmao

overall, izuku loves those girls more than life and they love him just the same 

raising them was a rollercoaster, but he’d do it all over again in a heartbeat

Sero Hanta:

another one that just looks like he’d be an amazing father

sero is one of the few that was actually looking to adopt a kid

he came from a large family and desired connection with a family of his own

he tried a for a while, but it never seemed to happen

until he came about a small girl he met on the off chance of passing by her hospital room when he was getting a quick check up

she was one of the children they saved on a mission and when he saw her curled up on the hospital bed that seemed to swallow her whole, his feet moved on their own

the girl, Keiko, was left injured and an orphan, yet despite her circumstances, she was just a joy to be around 

sero spent the rest of visiting time with her and just knew she was it for him

she was very sick so he’d spend his breaks visiting her at the hospital 

keiko was a huge cellophane fan and it just melted his heart 🥺

she’d have a huge smile on her face, unabashedly showing off her missing front tooth, every time he walked in

they’d spend hours just drawing or talking about their day

when sero shyly brought up the possibility of adopting her, keiko could barely contain herself 

she drew him one of her best pieces as a thank you and sero still has it hanging on his mirror to this day ❤️

keiko’s actually quite the artist so there’s many more up there to keep it company 

the adjustment period went smoother than anticipated

the girl had her moments and hanta was getting used to being a 24/7 parent, but it was like they quickly acted as if they had been blood related their entire lives

they are ride or dies for each other LMAO

they don’t argue

like at all

the worst they ever got was when keiko rushed to help her father on the job when she happened to see him get hurt 

sero yelled at her in panic 

it was so startling that they avoided each other for the time being

but a few hours later, sero went and apologized 

and that was that

keiko had frequent nightmares and sero would sacrfice copious hours of sleep so that he could turn on the projecter and give her a run down about every star in the “sky” before she falls asleep 

he actually bought and named a star after her for her first bday with him

sero pats her head a lot and she hates it

he calls her squirt, sport, kid, and princess if they’re having a soft moment

they have an unholy amount of matching onsies 

the kid was already getting to the stage where she wanted to be independent, but she would let her father pick out her outfits sometimes

only bc he put a lot of effort into doing it 

aka, she caught him crying over cute pintrest pics bc he’s a simp

okay but sero really, isn’t much of a crier, but he’s sentimental asf

every milestone is recorded

every school night, he’s there (she was a good kid, so he all but gloats w pride after every visit w the teachers)

any drawing she makes, he has 

he’ll do anything to be there for his daughter so it really crushed him when he couldn’t go to her high school’s father daughter dance 

sero had a mission he couldnt get out of and he was sorely pissed off about it 

keiko assured her father that it was okay and that it was corny anyways

but he could hear the disappointment in her voice 

he made kirishima go with her anyways bc he didnt want her to miss out on the experience 

and you bet your ass that when she came back home, sero was there in a tux with the living room set up to make it up to her 

it is just as cheesy as you think it is, but they’re cute so who cares 

also the way they both can dance is crazyyyyyy

rhythm isn’t even the word

if there was a competition for best father-daughter dance duo, they would win every time! and i stand by that!

they have at least one viral tiktok dance they did together

sero’s not the emotional type, but the first time keiko had a boyfriend he def made a threat or two to him 

it was actually so scary

TDD Time Travel

The TDD time travel back in time, but they're from 10 years in the future where the Chuuoku is defeated and they've all made up and get along now. Ichiro, Samatoki, Ramuda, and Jakurai are very confused, but hey, they're in the past, so why not do a bit... tweaking. Cue the chaos because the TDD are beyond giving a shit about anything anymore.

(I wrote this a while back and forgot about it. I thought it was funny, so here we are. It's just pure crack.)

Y'know that feeling when you know something's off, but you can't tell something's off, but it just bothers you in the back of your mind, constantly reminding you that something is wrong?

Yeah, well that's how Ramuda felt for all of ten minutes after waking up in an apartment that felt mildly different from the one that he fell asleep in before, but the old man could be petty sometimes, so who knows.

And then he looked in to the mirror and screamed. His reflection screamed alongside him, showing a much, much younger and very different face from the one he saw in the mirror the night before.

What the hell, he thought faintly, and right on cue, his phone (in a case he hadn't had in a long, loooong time) began to vibrate.

Ichiro's morning routine was pretty simple: wake up, brush his teeth, eat breakfast while checking his phone for any messages from his brothers or Rei, and then get ready for work.

Sure, it was kind of lonely sometimes, with Jiro choosing to move away several years back for a job opportunity and Saburo living away in dorms, but hey, at least Rei dropped by every once in a while and Samatoki, Ramuda, and Jakurai were still in Tokyo. Ichiro got his socialization whenever he could, but man, he really empathized with Kannonzaka now. Office jobs were exhausting.

So of course, when he is rudely woken up by the familiar, yet not-quite-so-familiar sounds of Jiro and Saburo's pre-puberty voices arguing, it takes Ichiro a moment to remember if he'd taken any drugs the night before.

As he watches the two from the staircase, he dazedly pinches himself, and yeah, that definitely hurt. So not a dream. As the reality of this strange situations finally starts to hit Ichiro (and an panic attack too, because what the frick is going on???), his phone begins to ring,

Jakurai was well-aware that he wasn't the most attentive person in the morning. Ramuda had more than enough pictures and videos of Jakurai's pre-caffeinated self to prove that.

… Well, Jakurai thinks to himself, this is new. It's embarrassing to admit it, but Jakurai hadn't noticed the switch at first. Maybe his first sign should've been the lack of a hangover or the quietness of his apartment. He'd gone through several hours of paperwork without noticing anything right up until Shishikai started yipping and growling like a particularly annoying puppy that Jakurai realized that, wait a minute, Shishikai got his license revoked nearly 8 years ago.

He spends a good couple of minutes zoned out while Shishikai rants about one thing or another before mumbling out some excuse and starts heading back to his office. If what he thinks has happened is true, then well, Ichiro, Samatoki, and Ramuda may have very well traveled back as well.

As his phone rings, Jakurai sighs again. Maybe Ramuda was right, he really was getting too old for this shit. Maybe he really should've drunk that 6th cup of coffee this morning. (If Jakurai ever saw the Rei he knew in the near future, he was going to kick that man's ass, nearly 60 or not. Hitoya did always say that their bad ideas almost always came from their drinking sessions.)

Samatoki takes one look at Jyuto's significantly younger face and slam's the door in the man's face. Nope. Hell no, whatever was going on, it was way too early to deal with any of this shit.

Even after forcibly being dragged into Jyuto's car via handcuffs, Samatoki stews in his thoughts. Whatever shitty dream this is, Samatoki wants to wake up now. Really, this time of his life may have been one of the highest of highs, but it was also one of the lowest of lows. Samatoki would really prefer to dream of other things.

It's not until he gets a hit of Rio's cooking that he finally comes to term with the fact that somehow, he's in the past. Man, no matter how many years it's been, Rio's cooking is always terrifying, Samatoki grimaces. Jyuto is silently dying besides him, as per usual.

As Samatoki contemplates if he's actually in hell or if Rio's cooking has finally caused him to hallucinate, his phone (which somehow miraculously still has signal for once) begins to ring.

The TDD start a group chat to complain about how stupid the past was.

Jakurai is a little bit less iffy about using his assassin skills in his old age and uses them to deal with some nuisances (Honobono, who? Lmao like fuck was Jakurai going to let anyone hurt his precious people ever again)

Ramuda starts a clone revolution and ropes Amayado in to helping. Well, more like gets Jakurai to get Amayado to help because they were sorta-friends in the future

Ichiro sort-of tries to get along with Rei, but it's a work in progress. He knows that Saburo got along pretty well with the man in the future, but man, Rei sure was a deadbeat dad (Ichiro spends a good while contemplating if he could wring out some child support money from the man)

Samatoki spends time chilling. He can't really rescue Nemu from the clutches of the Chuuoku without possibly hurting her because of the incomplete "perfect microphone"

The changes to their personalities, while miniscule, is more than enough to send their teammates reeling and confused

"You know, I spent like, a good five seconds thinking about it, but no thanks!" Ramuda tells the Chuuoku when they order him to try to mind control Jakurai. "Y'all are kinda stupid though, trying to fuck over that old man, he's sooo vicious, y'know?"

"Sit your fucking ass down, you stupid clown," Samatoki tells Sasara the next time he sees him, "the shits I currently give are nonexistent and if you wanna fight, Ichiro said he'd fight you in my place. What a brat."

"I kinda hate you and you owe me like, 15 years worth of child support," Ichiro informs Rei, "but I'm pretty sure you'd get along with Saburo like a house on fire and that's the only reason I'm not going to stab you. (Don't set a house on fire like you guys did in the future. PLEASE)"

"Ah, yes. Of course I desire to work with you after you tell a clone of my former (and future current) partner to essentially kill himself and then proceed to threaten my son in all but blood," Jakurai deadpans, "I appreciate your interest in my abilities, but please do kindly fuck off."

Omg, yes, thank you for asking, I’m so excited about this one!!!! :D The fic idea appeared to me fully formed as soon as I saw this post by @the-last-dillards about how in a scene cut from “The Wire”, Sisko mentions that he and Curzon were at an embassy on Romulus when Sisko was about Julian's age, and dillards speculated that it would be funny if Sisko and Curzon happened to be there at the same time as Garak was on Romulus posing as a gardener. Most everyone else who saw that post was like "lmao Curzon/Garak <3" and while that is extremely funny too, the Sisko/Garak implications are soooo much more interesting to me personally.

I think Sisko would be an interesting parallel-but-not-quite to Julian. I feel like young Sisko would be similarly bright and passionate and idealistic, which we KNOW is a type Garak is attracted to, but unlike Julian, Sisko would NOT put up with Garak’s bullshit mindgames, he would NOT find Garak inherently charming.

And then there’s Garak, still young, on top of his game, feeling confident and powerful and indestructible (but ultimately just Tain’s pawn... he’s been indoctrinated to love Cardassia unconditionally and hasn’t really had that challenged in any way yet).

They would both find each other extremely grating. Sisko embodies everything Garak hates about the Federation, so Garak would want to take him down a peg, make him sink to Garak’s level. Sisko would be infuriated by Garak’s duplicitous and condescending nature, but maybe Garak also keeps saying things that are juuuust provocative enough that Sisko can’t seem to help arguing back against his points (and Sisko really doesn’t get how that’s somehow turning both of them on...).

So that’s the gist why I’m obsessed with the potential for this pairing during pre-canon in general. Now onto the fic itself! Juuuust in case I never get around to actually writing this, here’s my detailed plan for the romulan embassy siskarak fic:

Sisko and Curzon are on assignment at the Federation embassy on Romulus. The Federation embassy is holding an open house next week. Sisko offers to help cook the food for the event, because he has an idea to incorporate ingredients from other cultures into his jambalaya recipe to Symbolize how cultural exchange can lead to amazing new technological advances and/or art and/or political alliances (or idk, whatever overwrought metaphor an excited young Sisko decides is galaxy brain levels of diplomacy). Curzon's just like “hell yeah, sounds great, kid! go for it!”

So Ensign Sisko (or whatever his rank is at that point idk) asks around at the other embassies nearby for ingredients native to their homeworlds. They give him some recommendations, but he’d have to replicate or import the ingredients. But then he gets to the Cardassian embassy and they have this beeeeautiful garden, overflowing with native Cardassian produce. Sisko asks the gardener there (Garak) if he can possibly use some of the vegetables for his jambalaya of interplanetary diplomacy.

Garak is instantly annoyed by how performative and insipid Sisko’s project is... but Garak knows he has to play nice and hand over the vegetables. He also knows how much he doesn't want sisko rendering these vegetables he's been diligently tending into tasteless inedible garbage that an unrefined Federation or Romulan palate couldn’t possibly even appreciate... So he smiles politely, and offers to show him the proper way to cook it. Tonight. In Sisko’s quarters.

Garak internally justifies this unnecessary dinner date by deciding that it will be a good opportunity to scope out the inside of the Federation embassy. And so what if he’s also getting a little riled up thinking about all the delicious arguments he might have with this headstrong and attractive Starfleet officer? So what if he kind of wants to figure out what he has to say in order break Sisko’s composure? What he can say that would make Sisko, despite his self-satisfied demeanor of peace and acceptance and understanding, angrily slam Garak into the wall hard enough to trigger the pleasurable rush of the implant...?

Meanwhile back in sisko POV... Sisko gladly accepts, actually quite eager to learn more about cooking, and a little curious about this strange Cardassian gardener who seems a little bit interested in him. (He’s not annoyed by Garak yet, because all he’s seen is his mask, his poker face.) Curzon’s taught Sisko everything about diplomacy and how to be a Starfleet officer and how to be a person, and sisko looks up to him in a bit of an unhealthy way. Sisko knows that the easiest way to impress Curzon is to score with an alien. Sisko’s maybe a little curious to see if that’s what Garak is interested in, so that Sisko will have something to brag about with Curzon.

[sidenote: idk where Jennifer is in this timeline (but also the canon timeline of when Curzon and Sisko were off on adventures that included banging twin alien chicks and getting falling-down-drunk together seems inconsistent with the canon timeline of when Sisko and Jennifer met lolll)... anyway, maybe bennifer are on a break bc of the long-distance while he’s on Romulus, and/or bc she maybe doesn’t particularly like the influence Curzon has had on him and they very recently got in a fight about it.]

Okay, so now it’s that night in Sisko’s quarters. For now let’s just gloss right over the (presumably horny as hell) scene about the chopping and stewing and seasoning of the vegetables—during which the arguments (and resulting tensions) between them build and build, from little things like vegetable chopping techniques to the fundamental paradigms of their worldviews and senses of morality—and let’s fast forward directly into the middle of their fight about whether the federation sucks more than the cardassian empire: Garak out of nowhere just starts undoing his shirt while saying something inflammatory questioning the federation’s true commitment to cultural exchange... Garak basically implies that Sisko is a hypocrite who has been arguing for ideals he doesn’t believe in if he doesn’t want to bang Garak RIGHT NOW...

And then they bang, And it’s a mess, and they HATE each other, and it’s really hot. Or at least, that’s the idea. ( @delicatetrashstranger volunteered to help write the E-rated part, for which I am very grateful, lol.) In the end, the weird space jambalaya burns while they are going at it, and everything is ruined and smells terrible, and Sisko doesn’t even WANT to brag about this one to Curzon, because he is not proud of how he let Garak get under his skin. Garak maybe experiences A Consequence of some kind that makes him realize he can’t recklessly throw himself at Federation hotties (like... maybe something Sisko says makes him question a Truth he was certain of, or maybe this fling has jeopardized his assassination plans somehow, or maybe there is a close call where he almost reveals something personal about himself, or almost accidentally leaves behind his underwear, which is where he keeps some of his sci fi Spy Gadgets, lol idk).

>Victor: Oat cakes? Oat cakes. ...Oat cakes. Yes I am 100% leaning heavily into the Victor Loves Oat Cakes thing. Because I also love oat cakes. He can't cook to save his life though. This poor man couldn't even make toast without it ending up either raw or literally turned to charcoal. All of which is highly ironic because he actually had cooking lessons due to ~circumstances of his birth~ - he just never paid any attention.

>Henry: Henry's favorite snack is literally any kind of bread. If Henry gives you his bread, that must mean he really likes you, because Henry would never give his bread away to just anyone. (<casually thinking back to the 'home again' segment where Henry smuggles like half his bread to take back to Victor> heh. gay.) Anyways- As for go to comfort food, rabbit stew - because when he, Victor, Ernest, and Elizabeth were all allowed to spend a weekend essentially camping in the woods, the first meal he cooked on that outing was an improvised rabbit stew. It didn't turn out well the first time, but the memories surrounding it are what made it special - so now even though he's really perfected his recipe and techniques and what he makes is practically unrecognizable to that first attempt, he can't help but feel all warm and fuzzy with the thought of spending the night goofing off with all his best friends. As for if he enjoys cooking, he loves it! It's one of his favorite things to do! He loves the creativity and freedom he finds in cooking for himself, and especially loves seeing others enjoying what he makes.

>Creature/Agape: For most of the AU he would say any sort of wild nuts and berries are his favorite snack because, well, they're just about the only snack he's ever really had access to. Later on he'll agree with Henry that bread is The Best, but is made even better when accompanied with a good goat cheese - so that easily becomes his favorite snack. As for comfort food, really just... Anything anybody cooks for him - the mere gesture of somebody making him food is enough to make him feel so incredibly loved, so it doesn't matter what it is, as long as it's being made with care. When it comes to cooking, he definitely enjoys it! He's not quite on Henry's level, but Henry is a great teacher and he cherishes every moment he gets to spend helping to prepare meals with him.

As for cooking.. Ernest doesn't cook. He's convinced he's no good at it despite really never having tried. This is much to his detriment because when everyone else is gone and all the servants have been laid off, Elizabeth is the only one left to cook - and Elizabeth's cooking is.... Edible, at best.

>Victor: ...Sort of enjoys hugs. Victor is a little iffy about touch being initiated by anyone other than Henry. He prefers to show affection to others by way of compliments (or by clearly-sarcastic insults if it's someone he really trusts), and prefers to have affection shown to him the same way. There are only some exceptions to this rule, all of which include him either initiating physical contact himself or by explicitly stating that it's ok to touch him.

>Henry: Oh Henry loves hugs 🥺 Henry loves giving everyone hugs. You get a hug! You get a hug! Everybody gets a hug!!! Victor is his favorite hugging target obviously. Despite being a generally sharp and pointy object, Victor is surprisingly very huggable - this is probably because he just absolutely melts in Henry's arms. Henry gives hugs to show just about anyone affection tho, and loves getting hugs in return.

>Creature/Agape: How do you say "absolutely fucking touch starved on main" in french? Because yeah. Yeah. That's him. If you hug him he will cry. If you let him hug you he will cry. If you so much as rest your hand on him he will cry. And by cry in every case I mean a mixture of emotions ranging from joyful at the thought the somebody really cares and that they’re not afraid of him/don’t hate him - to mourning the fact that such acts of affection are seen as a rarity and something he’s not worthy of. As for showing or receiving affection, his best ways of showing it are either by giving gifts or by mimicking a person's behavior, or by just telling them he really appreciates them. And as for receiving affection, he'll take all the platonic/familial affection he can possibly get. It doesn't matter what kind.

>Victor: Despite generally not being a very touchy person, his best way to show that he cares without speaking is through touch. Either by taking that person's hand, resting a hand on their shoulder or back, giving them a hug, just... Anything to let them know he's there for them. As for how someone can show him they care? If it's Henry, literally anything will do. Hugs, hand holding, snuggling, gentle little kisses on the cheek or forehead or lips too. If it's anyone else, the best thing they can do is just... Sit with him. Just be there beside him. They don't have to say anything, just exist in his general space and that would be enough. He'll let them know if/when he needs any more reassurance than that.

>Henry: Did I mention Henry loves hugs? Hugs are the go to method for showing somebody he cares. He also loves receiving hugs as signals that somebody else cares. The H in Henry stands for Hugs.

>Creature/Agape: Well ideally he would show he cares by being attentive to their needs - so like, say, if it's Henry he'll give him a hug, if it's Victor he'll just sit with him for a bit (as long as Victor is ok with that). But unfortunately usually he feels like the best way he can show he cares without words is... by disappearing. He still thinks of his presences as being unnerving or a nuisance, so he often feels the best way he can let somebody know he cares is just by... leaving them entirely alone. As for how other show him they care, very few do, but those who do know the best way is through some kind of physical contact.

>Ernest: Growing up with a variety of different kinds of personalities meant that Ernest came to realize very quickly that there is no 'one size fits all' for how to show others he cares. maybe bill and ted’s excellent adventure?? they’re just out living life and aren’t super stressed about school (other than the part where it’s the whole plot) and also really dig their clothes

nah, i stay pretty pale throughout the summer though i do get nice freckles!

there were a couple people i was close to in elementary and middle school i would like to reconnect with

yep!! i have traveled the country quite a bit and was lucky enough to leave the country for the first time this summer!

winter, cause i can go skiing and sit by the fire and drink hot chocolate and cuddle up with blankets and wear jackets all the time

big fan of december, though i like most of fall and the beginning of spring

ehhh not great, we been out here struggling with a lot of stuff

the book is my bullet journal and the first thing written on the page is monday from one of my weekly spreads, which isn’t a very exciting first line
