Translations of Shame: III.iv.6 Res angusta
6 of our translators have just rendered this as Res Angusta. Sensible enough. Now, Gray of the Four-Translator edition has “Res Augusta”, which could be an error, but could also easily be a misprint.
And then there’s Denny, who gives us? “Domestic Matters”? Which is. Again. Not what that says

Flightline: 40 - Bell LLRV/LLTV

Edwards AFB, 1 January 1965
Built by Bell Aerosystems, the 2 Lunar Lander Research Vehicles and 3 Lunar Lander Training Vehicles (collectively nicknamed Flying Bedsteads) were used to develop controls for the Lunar Landers used by the Apollo program, as well as train the pilots for the Landers.
NASA selected Bell as the contractor for the LLRV program based on the company’s experience with VTOL aircraft, and issued a study contract in 1961 to develop a system to simulate landing on the Moon. Bell had also been studying the idea independently, and by February of 1963 the company was awarded a contract worth $3.6 million ($30.5 million today) to produce the LLRVs, with the first two craft expected at Edwards for flight testing within 14 months.
-Line drawing of the LLRV, showing the simplicity of its construction as well as its dimensions. | Illustration: NASA
“Aircraft” only in the most general sense, the LLRVs and LLTVs were a series of truss sections built from aluminum tube. A single GE CF700/TF34 was placed in the center of the vehicle, oriented vertically downward and mounted on a gimbal to keep the axis of thrust centered. The turbofan would lift the LLRV to an appropriate altitude (500 feet or less) , at which point it would be throttled back to simulate the 1/6th gravity of the Moon. two rockets, powered by hydrogen peroxide and throttleable between 100lbf and 500lbf, would be used to slow the craft’s descent rate and provide horizontal movement. Sixteen smaller RCS motors, also powered by H2O2,were mounted in pairs and controlled pitch, roll and yaw. In an emergency, six solid fuel rockets could be used to maintain the 5/6th support if the turbofan failed, allowing a safe landing. Finally, one of the first zero/zero ejection seats was fitted, which could catapult the pilot to safety even from zero altitude and zero speed (hence the name).

Both LLRVs were shipped from Bell’s plant to Edwards in April of 1964, though #2 was shipped in pieces and assembled there to keep costs down. After initial tests on a tilt table, the vehicles were moved to the South Base area of Edwards and flight testing began in October. Test flights were carried out by FRC pilots Joe Walker and Con Mallick, as well as Army helicopter test pilot Jack Kleuver and NASA pilots Joe Algranti and H. E. Ream. After the test series at Edwards, the LLRVs were modified, adding the three-axis hand controllers and throttles of the future LM, as well as a cockpit enclosure (made from Styrofoam to keep weight down) to simulate the view from the LM.

In December of 1966, LLRV #1 was transported to NASA Houston, followed by #2 in January of ‘67, and NASA’s flights began on 27 March 1967, with Neil Armstrong piloting #1 at Ellington AFB. Armstrong, as well as other pilots of the craft, were quick to point out that given the LLRV’s operations envelope, use of the ejection seat was their only option if something went wrong, which was proven on 6 May 1968, when a control failure forced Armstrong to eject at 200 feet.
youtube
A review board found that the fuel for the RCS thrusters had run out, aggravated by high winds on the day of the flight. NASA decided to terminate further flights of the LLRV at this point, as the improved LLTV were due to be shipped to Ellington from Bell. At the time of the accident, LLRV #1 had completed 198 flights accident-free, with #2 completing 6 flights.
In March of 1967, Bell Aerosystems was granted a contract worth $5.9 million ($45.7 M today) to produce three Lunar Lander Training Vehicles, an advanced version of the LLRV used to train the LM pilots. The first vehicle arrived at Ellington in June of 1968, with first flight carried out by JSC’s Aircraft Operations Division (AOD) head Joe Algranti in August. Tests lasted until 8 December, when Algranti lost control of the vehicle and ejected just 3/5th of a second before impact.
youtube
The accident review found that, due to the decision to not test the LLTV in a wind tunnel prior to flight tests, the full capabilities and limitation of the RCS were unknown. The decision was then made to fly LLTV #3 to NASA Langley in a Super Guppy for wind tunnel testing.

Testing on the vehicle lasted from 7 January to 7 February 1968, and determined that the Styrofoam cabin was inducing a yaw at sideslip angles exceeding -2°, which quickly exceeded the RCS’ ability to counteract. NASA took the simple expedient of removing the top of the cabin, which eliminated the yaw. Data from the tests also allowed NASA to build a preliminary flight envelope, though this would have to be checked with test flights, as the LLTV’s engine could not be run in the tunnel. A Flight Readiness Review Board was convened in March of 1969 to review the findings of the accident board, as well as the data from the tunnel tests, and on 30 March approved a resumption of flight tests, which were completed in March of 1969, leaving Neil Armstrong a month to complete his LLTV training prior to the Apollo 11 launch.
After the successful landing of Apollo 11, the remaining LM pilots each took their turn in the LLTV, though #3 was destroyed on 29 January ‘71 after an electrical failure at 200 feet.
youtube
The LLRV and LLTV were invaluable tools in the Moon landing, and were some of the few hardware simulators to get get airborne. Then Chief Astronaut of NASA Deke Slayton said simply: “[There was] no other way to simulate moon landings except by flying the LLRV.”
Unsurprisingly, only two of the craft survived the program:
LLRV #2 is on display at the Armstrong Flight Research Center (FKA NASA Dryden), which is apparently Fort Knox as I cannot find a pic anywhere.
LLTV #2, also known as NASA 952, is hanging in the lobby of the NASA Johnson Space Center:

O DÍZIMO DO SENHOR
A CRIAÇÃO DO DÍZIMO:
A NOVA ALIANÇA - CRISTIANISMO
Analogia: (Dt 14.28-29).

Why I Am EXTREMELY Against Zarkon Getting a Redemption Arc
[CW: Intense salt about Voltron and in-depth discussion of genocide.]
i’m gonna just put it right the fuck out here: LM and JDS had no idea what the FUCK they were doing and i have the numbers to prove it.
so they wanna tell kids to forgive a murderous genocidal tyrant. that’s bad enough. but it makes it even worse that the writers of the show didn’t seem to have any conception of the scope of the crimes they were committing. like……seriously. are they so stupid that they don’t even understand the monstrosity that zarkon has canonically done? let me break it down for you all exactly how bad an atrocity that we’re talking about.
the galra have either killed or enslaved every single sapient species they’ve conquered. this is CANON.
the galra have conquered nearly the entire known universe. this is ALSO CANON.
with a track record like that, i’m going to give you an estimate of how many people zarkon killed or enslaved.
there are at least 100 billion planets in the milky way, 40 billion of which are habitable. there are at least 200 billion galaxies in the universe. let’s pick a real low number and assume each of the 200 billion galaxies in the universe have 10% of their habitable planets inhabited. this makes 4 billion inhabited planets per galaxy * 200 billion galaxies = 800 billion inhabited planets. now, since the galra have conquered almost the entire known universe, let’s say 90% of those inhabited planets have been colonized. that means 720 billion planets, or 7.2 x 10^11 planets, have been conquered.
now, populations vary based on planet to planet. with maxed out efficiency of resource use, some scientists think the earth is capable of carrying 10 billion people, which is probably the amount that other planets can carry and the amount that advanced alien civilizations would be able to approach but not exceed. many planets will have far less people, however, whether due to lower carrying capacity or due to the fact that those civilizations have technology equivalent to preindustrial humanity and thus factors like illness and starvation keep their population numbers low. so, in the end, it would probably average out to 5 billion (5 x 10^9) people per planet.
put that all together and you have 5 x 10^9 * 7.2 x 10^11.
Conservatively, 3.6 x 10^21 or 3,600,000,000,000,000,000,000 people were killed or enslaved by the Galra.
that’s 3.6 sextillion people, exponentially more people than there have ever been humans alive on earth.
we cannot fathom it.
we can’t ask children to fathom it.
I don’t think LM and JDS even TRIED to understand that when they say a species has 1) conquered an entire universe and 2) enslaved and murdered every single sapient species within it, THIS IS THE HORROR THAT THEY ARE IMPLYING. THIS IS THE HORROR THEY WANT //CHILDREN// TO FORGIVE.
because listen. when you say that genocide happened across the universe, the crimes perpetrated would INEVITABLY be on a scale beyond that of the holocaust. beyond that of the holodomor. beyond that of the cultural revolution. beyond what pol pot did to cambodia, beyond what happened in the rwandan genocide--beyond the death tolls of all of humanity’s atrocities throughout the entirety of human history PUT TOGETHER.
and to write that the person in charge of such unfathomable crimes should be forgiven?
should be redeemed?
should get to fight alongside the paladins he killed and tried to kill in some bullshit solidarity because he’s “sorry” and he “didn’t mean it” and he’s obviously a ~better person~ now so he can somehow get a ~second chance?~
i have nothing more to say in reply to that.
It makes me angry beyond words.

Effects of the Zinc Sulphate in a Girl with Chronic Renal Failure-Juniper Publishers
Introduction
End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is associated with numerous complications, which may partly result from excessive amounts of reactive oxygen species and/or decreased antioxidant activity [1]. In children in haemodialysis have been described hipozincemia. Given the diverse array of biologic functions of zinc, it is not surprising that multiple physiological and metabolic functions, such as physical growth, immunocompetence, reproductive function, and neurobehavioral development are all affected by zinc status [2]. When the supply of dietary zinc is insufficient to support these functions, biochemical abnormalities and clinical signs may be developed [3].
Objectives
Inside of a study of evaluation of the effect of administration of zinc sulphate on nutritional status in children with chronic renal failure, we described a girl’s nutritional status.
Material and Methods
The study in 48 children with chronic renal failure was controlled, concurrent, randomized and open (not masked), conducted in two phases: Phase I: Baseline nutritional status diagnosis. Two months: monthly anthropometric assessment (10 indicators) and biochemical analysis (3 indicators). Phase II: Twelve months. For restrictive randomization were assigned to group A (sulphate 30mg Zn/day) or B (15mg Zn/day). Group B was a control group and the dose of 15 mg Zn/day as the minimum daily requirement of zinc. Were followed monthly anthropometric and biochemical analysis in the last month. We obtained serum levels of C-reactive protein (marker of infection), albumin (visceral protein reserve) and serum zinc. Anthropometric assessments of weight (W), height (H), mid-arm circumference (MAC) and triceps skinfold thickness (TSF) were used to develop the indicators: weight for age (W/A), height for age (H/A), weight for height (W/H), nutritional index (IN), body mass index (BMI), mid-arm muscle area (MAMA) or lean mass (LM), fat mass (FM) and growth rate (GR). To diagnoses zinc deficiency we use serum zinc > 70 μg/dl. The statistics test used was the nonparametric test of Wilcoxon signed ranks [4].
Results
From the 13 indicators of nutrition, we obtained an average of 0.78% of obese, a 36.45% of normal and a 59.64% of malnourished children in the first evaluation. After oral administration of zinc remained half of 1.04% of obesity, eutrophication of a 27.06% of normal and 43.49% of malnutrition. There were 25% and 20.84% of hipozincemia in the first and second biochemical evaluation, respectively. With 30 mg/day of zinc sulphate, there was a significant change in the nutritional index (p=0.025), the body mass index (p=0.009) and in arm circumference (p=0.041). This increase in body mass was significant in the age group under 14 years, with doses of 30 mg/day, evidenced through the body mass index (p=0.26) and the arm circumference (p=0.039).
One girl who was 10 years old, which have renal failure by chronic interstitial nephritis with chronic malnutrition and osteodystrophy. She could not walk when she started the study she needed to help from her family to move around the house, hospital and other places. When she started she was W/A -3.6, H/A -4.9, W/H -2.1, BMI -1.6, MAMA -2, LM<5 percentile, FM<5 percentile and GR -3.9. Also, slow albumin, high PCR and normal serum zinc. She entered in the group A and take sulphate 30mg Zn/day pills for eleven month. Then she finished with W/A -3.6, H/A -5.8, W/H -1.7, BMI -1.4, MAMA -2.2, LM <5 percentile, FM < 5 percentile and GR -5.3, and slow albumin, normal PCR and zinc deficiency. We can see that she improve W/H, BMI and PCR. However, the best improve was in the end of the study, she can walk alone by herself.
Discussion
Zinc is an essential metal for human body and it is necessary for grow and development of children from pregnant women since adult inclusive ancient. It is possible because zinc is a dietary essential trace element, is primarily an intracellular metal involved in numerous metabolic processes, i.e., as a catalyst, structural element, or regulatory ion. With zinc deficiency, multiple nonspecific general shifts in metabolism and function occur, including reductions in growth, increased infections, and the appearance of skin lesions [5]. In low-income countries like Peru, where zinc intakes are inadequate, these functional disturbances are often associated with impaired growth, increase risk of child morbidity and mortality and preterm births.
All cells appear to have a small zinc reserve “stored” in lysosomes [6,13]. However, some tissues, possibly bone, may have labile zinc pools than can be redistributed to maintain zincdependent functions in other tissues [7,13]. Bone contains ~30% of total body, zinc, that is, ~700mg total or 66μg/g body weight, with some differences due to sex (8, Bond). Studies showed that bone zinc, as well as liver zinc, is mobilized when animals are fed a zinc-deficient diet [9,13]. Because the total content of zinc in bone is 3-fold higher than that of all soft tissues combined, a decrease in bone zinc concentration would indicate a major release of endogenous zinc compared with that from other tissues. Thus, bone zinc may provide a “back-up” source of zinc for other tissues with a vital zinc requirement when the dietary supply is inadequate (10, bond). Nevertheless, there are important biological roles for zinc in bone [13].
The change of a child with renal failure in dialysis who cannot walk alone without modification her treatment with an exception of 30mg/day of sulphate zinc supply. After eleven months she can walk by herself could be, explain for the zinc function in all bone of the body via zinc’s active role in collagen formation in the epitheses, zinc ions promoters of bone remodelling by osteoblast proliferation [11,13], and they contribute to extracellular matrix calcification through the synthesis of matrix proteins in osteoblast [12,13]. Zinc deficiency finally could be explain because patients with renal failure can need supply for more time.
Conclusion
For the nutritional index, the BMI and MAC, oral administration of 30mg / day of zinc sulphate resulted in an increased significant change in deposit mass compared with the group that received only 15mg/day. The mass increase was significant on body mass index and mid-arm circumference, in the age group under 14 who received 30mg/day of zinc sulphate. It was the same in our patient; because she improve her BMI and W/H despite that, she finished with hypozincemia.
The administration of zinc sulphate did not significantly improve the final height or serum zinc. It is recommended seeing the zinc as one of the essential micronutrient supplementation in patients with chronic renal failure and for studies of zinc deficiency in the development of other chronic diseases in which malnutrition is present. However, a biomarker of changes in bone zinc is not available at this time. Researchers are needed to better understand links between bone zinc, diet zinc, and overall zinc homeostasis [13].

How To Pick BIG MOVERS 🚀 - The Importance of ADR & How To Use It.
What is ADR and ATR:
The ADR of a stock is calculated using the daily lows and daily highs over a certain period of time to give you an average “Average daily range” for that specific stock. This is usual set at either 10 or 20 days, I personally use the 20 day average for a more accurate representation. This is shown via a percentage basis.
The ATR is the same calculation except it’s shown on a dollar basis.
Below are two examples:
$SOFI – Sofi Technologies
ADR = 5.4%
ATR = $0.89
https://preview.redd.it/anppf1h0g6u71.png?width=2151&format=png&auto=webp&s=2810d45dbc2e23f1de4a8a71e6194ab65d5efeca
So in this example the average daily range, the difference between high and lows on $SOFI is 5.4% and/or 89 cents.
2. $AAPL – Apple Inc
ADR = 1.8%
ATR = $2.74
https://preview.redd.it/z22clw21g6u71.png?width=2151&format=png&auto=webp&s=a22b1e8a1bd62910b3adabe4241d1ab6c7da232c
So in this example the average daily range, the difference between high and lows on $AAPL is 1.8% and/or $2.74 cents.
Why is the ADR important?
As traders it’s our job to find stocks which have the potential to make strong moves over a relatively short period of time. To do this we need to focus on names which have the characteristics to make a strong move which can therefore represent a strong gain.
In examples 1 & 2 lets take a hypothetical scenario. Let’s assume both names are set up for a breakout and both names have received news of equal weight. our plan for the trade is to buy an opening drive move (buy an opening rip).
In both positions we purchase $10,000 worth of stock and risk the low of that opening drive.
Due to the news catalyst both stocks move 2x their normal range due to an increase in volume and attention (very common).
The results:
SOFI with an ADR of 5.4% therefore moves 10.8% leaving us with a gain of $1,080
AAPL with an ADR of 1.8% therefore moves 3.6% leaving us with a gain of $360
Both stocks made the same equivalent move (2 times their daily average) yet example 1 was always the better pick due to it’s potential to provide a far more significant gain. During a swing trade which you may be positioned in for days/weeks the name with the higher ADR is far more likely to provide you with a much better return. Meaning your investment/capital is put to work in a far stronger position.
However it’s not simply a case of the higher the better as fundamentals and technicals matter. Some stocks will have a high ADR because they are pumped and dumped on a regular basis. To showcase this let’s take a look at two names with similar ADRs.
$SI – Silvergate Corporation. This company has strong fundamentals with good growth and a healthy balance sheet. The daily chart is also clean with a strong daily formation building into all time highs. It has an ADR of 8%. It respects both the 200 and 10ma showing the ability to make large and clean moves.
https://preview.redd.it/el3lsgg2g6u71.png?width=2178&format=png&auto=webp&s=5f56c34ed87b56a9605828ff9b1468be6eccba0b
LM funding . This company has literally no revenue and no growth over the past two years. The daily chart also shows nothing but pump and dumps on a regular basis. This name has a 10.47% ADR.
https://preview.redd.it/4pj9xg73g6u71.png?width=2151&format=png&auto=webp&s=28c9496e9c2dfc502ae4bed33df45ca99a7a68c6
As you can see, the second example only has a high ADR from high aggressive pumps which are immediately sold into. The graph showcases the previous 2 years of movement. These are the exact names you want to avoid unless you’re a day trader with a short bias.
Avoiding Bad Plays:
One of the large misconceptions with beginner traders are that penny stocks provide a better chance of large percentage/monetary gains. More often that not this couldn’t be any further from the truth. For this example we’re going to compare two speculative names to keep things fair. Both names have almost no revenue and are therefore considered as speculative plays.
$NNDM – Nano Dimension. This was and is one of the most watched penny stocks across social media and amateur traders. With Cathie woods ark Invest taking a position last year and the hype around 3d Printing. Now I’m not here to discuss whether it’s a good company or not, we’re hear to talk trading.
https://preview.redd.it/nhumc9e4g6u71.png?width=2151&format=png&auto=webp&s=1edc9f7a851cdc57af2328d964cf5290d59bbaa6
Since early February 2021 this stock has been in a downtrend with any moves higher being aggressively sold into. The volume has decreased on a weekly and daily basis which tells us there’s very little attention on the name and therefore it’s very unlikely we’ll see any worthwhile movement soon. There is also currently no hype in or surrounding the sector. It’s current stock price is $5.60 and has an ADR of 4.47%
Lithium America. Another speculation name which has received quite a lot of attention across social media and amateur traders, however there’s a huge difference. Firstly the chart isn’t trending lower but the complete opposite as it attempts to break into all time highs. Secondly the volume is increasing which shows attention to the name is increasing and therefore a big move is likely (one has recently happened, we traded it). Thirdly there is a large amount of hype in the sector with similar names also being bought and gaining attention. The current price of this stock is $25.43 and the ADR on this stock is 6.73%
https://preview.redd.it/vtzmek86g6u71.png?width=2151&format=png&auto=webp&s=c6b24530c5cbc8aee62c5ddd56d64a8bf42aec5a
So in this example we have two speculative stocks both with little to no revenue. However the Penny stock NNDM has a downtrending chart, no hype, no volume and therefore almost no chance of breaking out.Lithium America on the other hand has a very strong chart, lots of volume, increase hype and therefore a great chance of breaking out.
It’s irrelevant if you have $500 to invest or $500,000 as Lithium America in this example on any given day will provide a larger move and better return than NNDM. Not to mention that the likelihood of the move happening on Lithium America is far greater due to the points outlined.
Using ADR to determine entry.
The ADR can also be used to avoid bad entries using the simple mathematics and change of probability. If you’re looking to get into a name which has had no news, no increase in volume and isn’t set to breakout then you’ll want to avoid entering if it’s already close to 1 ADR.
Based on averages and the law of probability it’s extremely likely that in that scenario you’ll be entering at the high of the day.
The opposite to this is a strong name that’s holding its trend is reaching 1 ADR to the downside. If all other factors look good then the law of probability states you’re likely buying at the low of the day.
On aggressive breakouts and large catalysts such as earnings we can use the ADR to determine where we take profits or when we may avoid a late entry.
It's not uncommon for large catalysts like a big earnings beat to provide 3-5 ADR's on the first day. You can therefore once again use the data to determine the probability of continuation and a good/bad entry.
In Summary:
We use ADR to filter out the names which have the potential to provide us with a significant move. However they must also have a clean technical chart with some form of growth and/or growth potential. The ADR is the key number to go by
Ideally you want to see a minimum of 3% ADR and ideally something within the 5-10% range.
