Lizzie and Cleo are gym leaders.

Lizzie is known for how friendly her Pokémon are. They're all good friends, and they all love her. She calls them her children, sometimes. Treats them like her children too.

Cleo is known for the strength of her Pokémon. Even their basic Pokémon (unevolved, for those of you who haven't seen a tcg card /nm) are ridiculously strong.

They find themselves meeting up after their battles, very quickly becoming friends, and then very quickly becoming more too. But that's only for them to know.

No one would suspect anything if Cleo shows up at Lizzie's gym, or Lizzie shows up at Cleo's gym. They're great friends, anyway. No one would really care if they had to battle Lizzie instead of Cleo, or Cleo instead of Lizzie. (Lizzie with Cleo's Pokémon and vice versa) They're both nice, and they know how to switch between battling with level 50s (i think that's roughly what the last gym is, I've never finished a game 🥲) and level 10s.

If it eventually gets out that they're together... Well, that's for them to decide. Maybe they'll take that risk, maybe they won't. They'll cross that bridge when they get to it.

Right now? They're both enjoying how much they can get away with. Why people see gym leaders as some kind of authority figure is a mystery to them. They could probably be caught kissing and still be able to brush it off with some flimsy excuse!

When their relationship becomes public, maybe they can become a double battle duo? That would be a fun way to mix up their gym battles!

Hi!!! I keep re reading your pics of the superhero au and I wanted to know more stuff if your okay with it. Could we get more about Joel's powers? It seems he was pretty strong back in his hay day, but what was he capable of that made them force him into retirement so early?

Of course I'm okay with it! I'm happy to talk more about it! :-D

For anyone who sees this and is unfamiliar, V's referencing my "Even Ice Walls Fall Down" fic! (And subsequent one-shots filling out the universe a little)

So, Joel/Lore!

He is one of the strongest superpowered people to have ever popped up in the city. Tango/Deepfrost is, like, literally an extremely close second (if not tied, but since their powers are so different, the ranking is subjective).

Joel has three powers, which is part of what makes him so powerful. 1) He can fly (Superman style) 2) He can shoot lightning from his hands 3) He's invulnerable to, like, almost everything

Joel's invulnerability comes with the side effects of insanely high stamina and strength, considering he can't injure himself by overdoing it

He manifested when he was 19 and as of the time of the main AU, he's 31, so he's had his powers for... 12 years (did I math that right? i think so. it's late) and in that time, the only time he feels pain is when Jimmy's super strength overpowers his invulnerability's limit. It does have a limit. All of their powers have limits (except maybe Grian's... but Grian is a god pretending to be a mortal, not an actual superpowered human so he doesn't count). Because, yeah, Jimmy really is that strong

Now, because Joel manifested his powers at 19, he couldn't get hurt while he was a reckless 20-something. So he was extra reckless, especially when it came to being Lore. The division as we know it in the AU was nowhere near as structured as it is by the time Jimmy gets there, and no one was really regulating the superheroes. There weren't many of them, and they had no handler or supervisor or person trying to make sure they all behave

And Joel's invulnerability made him... destructive. Not always through his own actions

Because, see, when Joel was first starting out, Doc was still in the city. He had not yet left and taken over a country and established a Perimeter around it. And Doc had a lot of beef with Joel. Partially because Joel was an arrogant early-20's idiot (affectionate) and Doc wanted to knock him down a couple pegs (and Joel definitely egged him on and mocked with little singsong "You can't get me!" type childish taunts)

Doc also really wanted to see what the limit of Joel's invulnerability was, and so he kept making bigger and stronger inventions to try and even just barely break Joel's skin. And those bigger, stronger inventions were starting to do a lot of structural damage to the city. Because Doc was throwing absolutely massive weapons at Joel and Joel's lightning isn't exactly safe for normal people to be around either. He can control the voltage of his bolts and the more frustrated he gets, the stronger his lightning becomes as a defense mechanism. Which was very dangerous.

And let me be clear on something: Joel did not want to retire from being a superhero active in the field. He loved it. He loved the praise and the fans and the validation and the pride of a job well done

But Lizzie was going to run for mayor and they were married at that point and the constant destruction of Lore and Doc's fights were going to be hard on her campaign (because who wants a mayor whose husband keeps damaging her city? etc.)

For clarification here: people knew Lore and Lizzie were married or at least romantically involved in some way (because there were many pictures snapped of Joel dipping Lizzie for a kiss after particularly brutal fights), but didn't know at that time that Lore's real name was Joel.

So anyway, since Lizzie wanted to run for mayor and Joel's superheroing was going to jeopardize her campaign, he hung up his cape (figuratively? IDK. Maybe his super suit had a cape. Haven't thought about it). Because he loves his wife more than he loves being Lore.

I wouldn't necessarily say he was "forced" into retirement. He didn't want to retire, but he also knew it was the best course of action for the city's safety. To trust the city and its citizens to the other heroes who didn't destroy as much

And Joel is, at the moment, the only hero in the division with a public civilian identity. I think when Lizzie was campaigning for mayor and he retired from hero life, that was when he revealed to the city that his name is Joel.

After Lizzie won the mayor election, Joel settled into his position at the head of the superhero division and shaped it into how we see it today in the main timeline of the AU. He became the heroes' handler/supervisor, he trains new heroes when their powers are similar enough (he did not train Deepfrost, though. He was 20 when Tango manifested and they didn't get along terribly well. Their personalities were both strong and clashed). He handles logistics and dispatch. He's got other people helping him, but he's at the top. He wasn't the only one who made the decision to have heroes register their secret identities with the division, but he and Lizzie were the ones to approve it

Joel was 24 and barely into his role as the head of the superhero division (he was not in the field for very long) when Tango left/was kicked out of the division - and the two had a rather violent final encounter at the division building. The reason Tango even held his own as long as he did against Joel's invulnerability during their altercation is the fact that Tango is a genius, a gifted strategist, really nimble, fast, very tricky, very slippery (as Jimmy/Sheriff would attest in a heartbeat), and quick on the draw with his powers. Tango's darkness actually trumps the light given off by Joel's lightning (meaning even if Joel shot a bolt of lightning through Tango's cloud of darkness, he wouldn't be able to see anything), and that definitely saved him from getting fried hard to shoot what you can't see and Tango can control how the darkness moves

So yeah! TL;DR, Joel's powers and his mutual hatred with Doc probably could have destroyed the whole city and he decided it was best for him to stay out of the field after Lizzie wanted to run for mayor

Somewhere between when Tango left the division and the beginning of "Even Ice Walls Fall Down," Joel mellowed out somewhat - and matured a lot. That said, if Deepfrost ever went back to the division, Joel and him would still probably throw hands on sight

Since I'm taking for fucking ever to get the next chapter of Closed Position finished, I'll give y'all another little teaser for WIP Wednesday.

Dieter's POV As soon as Kat walked into the bedroom, she paused. Her eyes caught sight of the purple happy stick in my hand almost immediately. My brows arched up at her as I fought a smile. 

“Where did you find that?” she asked nervously.

I tried not to laugh, “Under your pillow.” 

She looked horrified, “And you just picked it up without knowing whose it is or if it’s clean?” 

I shrugged, “I mean, it looks clean. I just assumed it was yours.” 

She shook her head as her cheeks tinged red, “Nope. Don’t know where that came from.” 

I clicked my tongue, “So, you’re telling me you’ve been sleeping with someone else's vibrator under your pillow all week and didn’t notice?” 

She stared at me with wide eyes, seeming unable to respond. 

“It’s OK, I know you were not doing yoga yesterday…If it makes you feel better, I beat off in the shower before I went and got us breakfast.” 

I tried my best to maintain a serious face as her lips twitched upward. I knew that would get her. 

“It doesn’t bother you…that I have one of those?” she asked quietly. 

My brows furrowed, “Of course not…why would it? Hell, I have a few myself.” 

I could see the tension leave her body, now realizing for the first time that she thought I would be upset over it. That fucking asshole.

I'm sure you can guess where this scene is going. 👀😂

Yeah...so...this chapter is going to be complete filth. However, we do learn some new things and get lots of bonding between these two. Kat gets a new nickname. You know how much she loves those. Anyone want to take a guess at what it will be? We also get the SNL monologue! That'll be fun because you know Dieter is not sticking to the script. He's a fucking menace.

I know you want to yell at me for the edging. It's ok, I understand. Yell away. 🤣

No ETA on the chapter yet, but I'm still slowly plugging away during my down time. I'll probably end up surprise dropping it on y'all without warning. 😏

Through his adult life, Buck has developed a certain taste for his personal decor and style. It’s rather minimalist, but it works for him. Still, he finds he enjoys adding these gifts of support and love from his family.

And another little something from the vault 🤭 this one I wrote when Charles had some issues with his car last season and he couldn’t drive in FP1? FP2? I honestly don’t know, but it was during a time where he had quite often some issues here and there with his car and I thought about how Lizzie would want to calm his nerves, be there for him, distract him maybe…

The door opened and I hastily pulled my fireproofs over my head, smoothing the fabric down.

"I just met Lizzie…" Andrea said as he walked in, closing the door.

"Yeah, she was here…" I said happily and looked for my boots.

"She cheered you up a little?" he asked and I had to chuckle.

"That she did…" I picked up one boot from under the sofa as Andrea handed me the second one.

"That’s good." he smiled, sitting down on my sofa, happy that my bad mood was gone, and oh how far gone it was.

"Oh yes, more than good!" I almost cheered and sat down on the chair, slipping in my boots "So damn good…" I whispered underneath my breath but Andrea caught it, cocking an eyebrow.

He watched me lacing up my boots, whistling happily. Thinking about how Lizzie practically melted away under my touch just moments ago, how I slowly picked her apart. All the little sounds she made, the taste of her skin intoxicating my senses.

"Charles?" Andrea interrupted my train of thoughts.

"Hmm?" I looked up, grinning like crazy, I couldn’t contain the giddiness.

"You’re really happy? Like… awfully happy?" he said and my grin only got wider, I even blushed a little.

"I mean… what’s there not to be happy about, right?" I chuckled, taking off my watch.

"Did you… in here? Like… did you do… it? Here?" Andrea‘s eyes widened, too stunned to speak properly.

"Umm? I don’t know what you’re talking about?" I said with the biggest grin, looking at the sofa, relishing in the memory.

Andrea followed my look and jumped off of it.

"On there? I’m never sitting on that again!" he exclaimed and I laughed, picking up my cap and opening the door.

"There are so many spots where you no longer can sit down then anymore… here… at home…" I laughed and left a shell shocked Andrea behind, walking outside before I turned around one last time "My car…"

"Your-… which one?" Andrea’s eyes widened.

"All of them."

David wanted to, but his heart and his body had waged a war over the placement of Patrick in his mind. Patrick didn’t belong there. David would never see him again. Thoughts of him should’ve escaped his mind hours ago. David had forgotten others that he’d spent much more time with the moment they parted, but somehow thoughts of this straight, drunk boy refused to leave. His warm eyes and stupid upside-down smile were like a magnet to every thought running through David’s mind. 

They were close in proximity. As soon as David got back to New York, he’d forget all about the gorgeous, horribly dressed frat boy with eyes as warm as honey.

Gem hates soulmates, she's decided. Just look what happened to Scott and Pearl! They were best friends, and now they won't even talk to each other! It's so awkward when your best friend and your sister can't stand each other.

Lizzie has never really cared who her soulmate is. Sure, why would she? If Joel isn't hers, there's no reason to go looking for whoever they are. (he is, but they're a different kind of soulmates.)

Until they meet each other. Lizzie trips. Gem feels a sharp sting in her hands, followed by a small graze. She helps Lizzie up, hoping she didn't notice. They can't be soulmates. They can't be.

Oh, who is she kidding, of course they are! Later on, Gem walks into a wall (don't judge her. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going.) and Lizzie realises.

It's an awkward dance for a while, neither of them knowing if the other knows, and neither of them telling either.

Until one day, seemingly out of nowhere, Lizzie asks Gem if she knows who her soulmate is. She panics. She lies. Badly. Lizzie laughs.

"Of course you do." She laughs as she kisses her.

Maybe they do care about soulmates. Maybe they're not awful.

Their relationship isn't 'traditional' but it's so much better that way. Gem adores Lizzie and Joel's relationship - they're so cute together! She and Joel get along well too, despite not dating each other. Lizzie takes pride in getting to be squashed between her two partners - whether it's movie night or cuddling in bed.

Maybe this whole soulmate thing can be nice, as long as you're willing to put the effort in too.

do you make your bed?

Usually! Especially when I leave the house in the morning, because then I'll remember.

If I stay the whole day at home though... at some point I'll look at my bed and see a crumpled mess of sheets

what's your favourite number?

7! my birthday and I feel, overall a lucky number. Plus idk, I can't explain why but it just *feels* right

what is your job?

I'm a copy editor! Started as an editorial assistant, but now that I've graduated and have more hours at the office (a very nice 32 hours, four days a week) I'm taking on more responsibilities and leading my own projects which is very fun

and I can now honestly say that if I was a Barbie, my job would be books (because it is! which is still wild)

if you could go back to school, would you?

Whenever I started freaking out about graduating at work, everyone said that I can still go back to school whenever.

However, since literally JUST got out of those trenches, I don't think I'll be going back any time soon

can you parallel park?

I can't even drive (I'm going to start lessons soon though)

a job you had that would surprise people?

I mean aside from being an editor? I think my internship in Acquisitions (still publishing but like, buying the books and stuff) was really cool! Especially the whole getting to read manuscripts from famous authors beforehand

The universe is too big for them not to be real

Nope and I tried once, had a panic attack so . automat it is

what's your guilty pleasure?

Fanfic, young royals, reading trashy books I know are going to be bad

Two! Both on my right arm, one a floral one and one bottle with a moon in it

Definitely pop. I used to be more a musical theatre girlie and I still love the theatre but I don't listen to it as much now

And especially sad pop (Lizzy McAlpine, Gracie Abrams, etc).... sign me up

Changes every day but I think today's is yellow

I love them! I'm not allowed to buy them as much cause they're expensive but yes, love them

I played volleyball for 11 years (from age 7 till 18) so definitely that haha

do you talk to yourself?

All the time :) I've gotten used to it by now (even though I'm very annoying)

what movies do you adore?

There are some that I rewatch yearly, like Love, Actually, The Polar Express and A Muppet Christmas Carol, and I love them every year

Other movies that I adore are definitely like, sweet, easy movies with a little bit of a tearjerker. Nora Ephron is a gem, even if You've Got Mail is a bit creepy, and literally anything queer I'll watch.
