For this assignment I was excited to create a timeline of the weather in Miami by creating an object with multiple photos, I feel like it didn't go so well since when I took the photos the weather was only cloudy Besides, when uploading the photos it took me a lot to make sure each photo matched.

ABOUT ME

I think this is the hardest question for me to answer. I remember being asked this when I was maybe 17, and being completely dumbfounded at what the answer really was. 

I always answered the “about me” question so superficially on all my social media outlets and on the first days of school when I would have to introduce myself to a room full of complete strangers. Honestly, I believe the superficial answers are encouraged. We are given examples of how to answer that question. “Tell us your favorite color, tell us your favorite animal” so, the answer to those questions became enough for my identity.

“Hi, I’m Lizmarie. I like pink and I love elephants.” 

I never sought to dig deeper. But Sonia, my mentor, in her wisdom asked me to answer that question without the superficial answers. “Lizzy, who are you? Not kind, sweet, funny Lizmarie. So, who are you really?” I’d be lying if I said my journey to figuring out my identity started then, because it really didn’t. I looked at her, didn’t know what to say, and went on with my life. 

I thought I could get by through life with the answer I had formulated up until then.  Though that moment would always come to mind, I tried to pay no attention to it. 

So here I am, 17 years old, and all I know about me is I like pink, elephants, am generally a good person to be around, and my past. I fell into the trap of I am what I’ve been through and what I like. It’s taken me 26 years to start really tapping into who I really am. 

If I were to answer the question of who I am through the mind of 19-25 year old me I’d be telling you this:

Hi, I’m Lizmarie. I love my dog, elephants, and teal. I am a United States Navy Corpsman. I am a divorcee. I am a statistic. 

That’s so dark when it is read out loud. But more importantly it doesn’t tell you who I really am. It tells you things about me. Things I've been through. Things I’ve done. But the story of hope and redemption told by my journey, when that is brought to life, that is what tells you who I am. I am redeemed, I am loved, I am a daughter of God. 

That is an identity I will gladly take for the rest of my life.

La niña Lizmary Montiel de tres años de edad, murió ahogada en un pozo del sector El Cují, municipio Mara, estado Zulia. Según diarios regionales, el cadáver fue encontrado por sus familiares, quienes habían emprendido la búsqueda al perderla de vista.
