I PRESENT YOU ALL, SAM AND MAX: THE PLUSH AU
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sam and max are at most 2 feet tall in this by the way
Much important needed info about the au down here :)) (be prepared to read)
So
Geek is a 8 year old kid who invents things in their bedroom, one day, Geek invents a device that makes toys come to life! What better toys to use this device on than all of the toys in Geeks room?
So they do just that, Geek brings all of their favorite toys to life, especially their favorite stuffed animals, Sam and Max. This universe’s Sam and Max are adorable little stuffies, who go on many adventures with the mini time traveling elevator that Geek built themself.
In Geeks bedroom, the neighborhood we all know and love resides, or in this case, a collection of wacky little toys and doohickeys that Geek has collected over the years. The whole cast of characters we all love are reduced to tiny little toys, who all have the smarts of an 8 year old. (Think of a Winnie the Pooh)
Think of this being the most wholesome of the AUs that I’ve made, because plushie Sam and Max just love being the purest of little babies. The only catch to this AU is that all the toys need to keep their sentience secret from geeks unknown parents, but that’s an easy thing to do.
The toys that everyone is: Sybil is a small figure who comes with a dollhouse similar to her shop in the games. Girl Stinky and Grandpa Stinky live in the carry-along diner. Bosco is a ripoff Lego figure who resides in a no-instruction built inconvenience store. Momma Bosco is a brand new barbie doll who Bosco claims is his mother. Flint paper is a beat up action figure who Sam and Max still swoon over. The commissioner is a half torn trading card. Superball is either an armyman toy or an agent action figure. Sammunmak is a (Not historically accurate) kids book about ancient Egypt. Abe Lincoln is a poorly made sculpture project made by Geek for school. And many more toys that I haven’t thought of yet!!

Note
I had coffee my thoughts are all over the place it's not gonna make sense and I'm probably gonna change my mind about some of the things I said later but here's my ramble.
I'm so mad right now. There's so many things that piss me off with Peter B. I keep thinking about all the mess he keeps pulling throughout the first and the second movie. The fact that he betrayed Miles not once but twice BUT THREE TIMES (typing Miles up in ITSV, not telling him about the Spider Society or that he was an anomaly, CALLING HQ ON HIM BECAUSE HE WANTED TO SAVE HIS FATHER. Technically that's 4 but moving on.)
He refuses to acknowledge Miles as a fellow spider(which is probably why he didn't feel bad about finding Miles was an anomaly now he has a reason to not take Miles seriously.) And he keeps trying to insert himself into a mentor role when he's yet to do a whole lot of mentoring. What also throws me here is how he had the audacity to say the trauma builds character while being a mentor to help guide Miles into becoming Spiderman so Miles' could avoid the mistakes that Peter made.
I WILL NEVER BE OVER THAT CHAIR SCENE IN ITSV. How is it you as a grown man. A grown white man no less took a black teenage boy who you viewed as so much of a liability that you had to tie him up. And I know multiple people have talked about everything that's wrong with this scene but there's still something so haunting about watching him just nonchalantly be tied up kicking and screaming about how he wants to be let go that bothers me so much. And I find it hard to believe that this was just a scene we're supposed to just move on from. Did they do this on purpose? Was this supposed to showcase something about Peter's character that I'm not picking up on? Because I find it so hard to believe that the writers who made sure to explicitly show how Gwen's Peter is Christian because he later turns into a lizard wouldn't understand the implications of this scene.
I also don't think he's a strategic as he thinks he is. What do you think was going to happen when you forcefully tied this boy to a chair? You thought he was going to sit still? Also would you think the boy who's trying to save his father was going to do? Actually listen to your words? Sit back and be like, oh you're right I should just let my father die. (This is me going off my reasoning that he didn't plan out that one scene in ATSV. I think that he thought that because he's Miles' "mentor" he could get through to him in a way others can't. Which pretentious much?) His actions do more harm than good and it just works out for him somehow. (For instance Miles saving them in ITSV because he came late.)
These are my thoughts do with this what you will. All the stars decided to align today ig because I haven't been able to come up with coherent thoughts like this in a minute.
(I really need to rewatch itsv. So if there's anything here that I'm wrong about regarding itsv it's been like 5 years since I've seen it.)
I GET THISS SOOO HARD (I waited until I had coffee to answer this lol)
BUT YESSSSS Because like I can understanding giving Peter the benefit of the doubt, it makes plausible sense for a movie to have a certain amount of wiggle room plot wise.
But with writers who clearly understood punk enough to accurately show it in Hobie's arc, repeatedly put in the work to respect Cockney and Puerto Rican culture, who wrote every one of Hobie's lines with PERCISION - would just overlook the glaring hole in their story that is Peter.
Because we as a viewer are continually told we SHOULD look up to him and we SHOULD trust him - but in doing so they accidentally make him the exact opposite. Like.. It doesn't make sense to me.
The Focus on Jess & The Absence of Peter:
aka GODDAMN I hate Peter B. Parker [yet another rant about 'bad' writing, plotholes, and Peter not showing up for Miles or Gwen.
For example,
Jess is Gwen's mentor, and we see her mentor style is extremely different from Peter's and that's suppose to be a contrasting dynamic between them and the relationship between Miles and Peter. Okay, makes sense.
But by NOT having Peter be Gwen's mentor, the writers are implying that he didn't step up as an emotional mentor when all this given - HE SHOULD. Because he's the only adult that she knows, and she a freshly homeless teen who needs to be around people she trusts, rather than working at a society with an auditorium of adults.
But by trying to show off how much we should judge Jess, the writers have inadvertently given us a Peter who just..didn't take responsibility. That's what they're implying - that Hobie and Jess were the ones who came to get aid. And we're suppose to look the other way. I... can't do that, sir.
"Look at how mean Jess is, why not blame her-" Jess is doing her job. Where's the adult she actually knows and trusts. Can we get some dialogue about what he did for her? Or did he just do nothing?
Did they just forget to include that, or did Peter just forget to help?
For me, that's two points in the bucket. Not housing Gwen, and not being her mentor. He could've done one, the other or both.
But because he didn't, we're left asking "What WAS he doing in the Society?"
Missions, I assume. Cause he wasn't mentoring her, so he must have been off putting in legit work for Miguel, I assume.
If we're looking at the characters as full-rounded - which I would hope they are considering the depth of Gwen, Miles and Hobie, it's not a large jump to ask 'How involved was Peter in Gwen's time at the Society? Why is he not her mentor, or why is she not living with him?"
Gwen..should be staying with him. If you're an adult who knows a teen and they become homeless, and it is within your means - yeah, I do think it's a moral obligation to open your home to them, at least temporarily. If you care about them. But that aside, let's extend the benefit of the doubt. Maybe Gwen didn't want to see him.
But then the ratting Miles out thing. This, I can't get around-
Some may say that it was simply for plot development and that Lyla spoke suddenly as a mistake on her part.
And I gotta call bullshit.
Firstly, because this is the same movie where we're shown Hobie stealing parts prior to learning what the parts are for. The same film that literally animated a fight accurately to Bushwick down to the very street. Let's cut it some slack here.
And moreso - I could understand the justification that it was a mistake on Lyla's part.
If Lyla was human. She's not.
She's an AI, and a very sophisticated one at that. Lyla runs on protocol, because that's AI's do. She's made to do things the way that is mathematically most effective, based on her analysis and her code.
It's easy to see Lyla as just an avatar, and a comedic one at that - but Lyla is literally one of - if not the - smartest 'person' in the multiverse. She's the only one who can track Spot in real time. If Jess and Miguel need aid on a mission or with Spot, they call Lyla. And she's handled every Society mission prior to the chase.
Her speaking out of turn suddenly and giving Peter away is an understandable plot mistake, if she was subjected to human mistakes.
So far, Lyla isn't. It doesn't make sense, based on what Lyla is.
I think Lyla would know better than to give Peter away suddenly by detecting Miles' presence and still speaking out loud.
A lot ask 'What motive does Peter have for ratting Miles out?', but we also should also ask "What motive does Lyla have for ratting herself out?'
It's her goal to find Miles no matter what. She doesn't care, she kinda can't - she's an AI. She just has to find him and send Miles' location to Miguel. Her objective.
So her locating Peter without his knowledge and then giving herself away to him doesn't make sense - especially if Lyla knew Miles was that close, from a human standpoint and definitely from the standpoint of the most sophisticated AI in existence.
So I was under the assumption that - like you mentioned now, that before when he gets Miles alone, he may genuinely be trying to convince him still, but by the time they get into that space, I think that's around the time that it becomes a 'Okay, let's just get Miles back to HQ and talk about this' situation.
He genuinely ratted Miles out. In my eyes.
Because at this point, Miguel hasn't assaulted Miles. That comes later. So realistically speaking, his goal was probably to calm Miles down, and get him back to HQ however he could, and talk to him there.
Peter could've helped WAYYYY earlier.
People give Peter credit like 'Oh but he came over to Miles' side at the end-'
NO. YOU DO NOT GET A COOKIE.
Peter could've helped SO much earlier, and if anything, he was THE ONLY ONE in a position of helping.
Gwen can't do anything, like they physically restrain her when she tries to. And there's no point after they come to HQ that Gwen has the chance to turn around and help Peter.
Gwen doesn't get that chance. Peter DOES.
Had Peter helped Miles HERE, IMMEDIATELY, Miles would've gotten away without being assaulted by Peter.
If Peter had turned around and changed course in this moment, Miles would have been better off.
Fuck Peter B. Fuckkkkk hiiiimmmmm. NAWWWWWW
Tumblr media
If Peter had let him go here, or helped him escape - Miles wouldn't have been taking hits up on that train. That's crazzzy.
But he wasn't trying to help Miles escape. If he wanted to, he would've. He could've just said "Matter of fact Miles, I think setting the WHOLE Society on you is a bizarre move and you should probably get out of here until Miguel can calm down and I can talk to him."
But he was like 'Nah, hold my baby. Matter of fact lemme tell you story in this pivotal moment when you're actively in danger. Here, look at me. What do you mean - I'm not stalling? I didn't rat him out on purpose.
Like either you did. And even if you didn't you didn't help him when you were literally the only person in the universe who could. In fact, he got away slower because of you. Lovely.
Tumblr media
Peter is a grown man. He's not an idiot.
He knows Miles is in active danger. Why would an adult turn the conversation in that direction - about his baby - KNOWING Miles has no time.
As soon as Miles got his hands on MayDay, Peter is trying to change the conversation. Suddenly he's joking and laughing.
Even though Miles is freaking out. Why is Peter joking? He knows this isn't a joking situation. But here he is wasting Miles time, either accidentally or intentionally.
Because that'd be some good ass stalling.
There was nothing stopping Peter from helping him leave. But Peter was still on The Society's side, so he didn't. If he was on Miles' side, he would've helped him. He should've, but he was still for Miguel, because at this point Miguel hadn't assaulted Peter yet.
Congrats, Peter. Big L. Humbling Reality Spider-man everyone.
Like combine all this. AND THEN THE SCENE IN ITSV.
LITERALLY AND PHYSICALLY PETER IS ALWAYS HOLDING MILES BACK.
You cannot expect me to believe that the writers of a movie I can write 10k+ words about, just so happened to leave these two glaring plot holes for ONE character.
That I'm just suppose to ignore that Peter restrained Miles, a black boy, in ITSV. That he betrayed Miles for months, wasn't very active in Gwen's time at the Society, and he actively hinders Miles escape - if not actively ratting him out.
It baffles my mind.
It doesn't make sense, that these writers can write Hobie, Jessica, Miguel, Officer Stacy, Rio, and Jeff as fully rounded, well-thought characters. But for some reason, when it comes SPECIFICALLY to Peter B. - they just forget how to write. They just stop thinking about him the second they don't look at him.
IN BOTH MOVIES?
I don't buy it.
To have every other character be thoroughly thought through but have one of, if not these most iconic character full of plot holes...
I think the likely answer is they wrote him that way on purpose and he's just a bad person.
I'm sorry, and I'm laughing while writing this but like.
Either Peter is the ONE singular character who has a series of emotional plotholes - or he's just a bad mentor. It's one or the other. And it's open to interpretation.
But I wanna cut the writers some slack and say, No - they thought it through. And No, Lyla did not just randomly speak out of turn, he contacted her first off-screen before she replied to him.
And by waiting till the very end to come around, waiting until the person who looks up to you is deeply wounded to finally turn around - that's the same arc Officer Stacy goes through.
And we're not supposed to clap for him. It's lovely, but he doesn't get an award. And neither does Peter, not at all.
Maybe if had helped Miles escape in that moment. Maybe if he was Gwen's mentor or he housed her.
But as far as we know he spent those months of Gwen in the Society doing fuck all. We've seen no sign of his contribution anywhere.
And in a story about mentorship, that says something.
Anyway. This is long. Again fiosfgihrgirturetuier I'm SORRY
Once again, Fuck Peter B. All my Hobies hate Peter B. (not a typo)
He's worse than Jess.
And he's not worse than Miguel but I like Miguel more and it's not because of the ass that's just a bonus Miguel is cool (but also very wrong. but like personality wise we're cool).
Ummm I feel like I got off track here. Oh well!!

; okay I already sent an ask like a week ago or smth so sorry if this is like- so soon lol. But those answers were really helpful ( /gen ) and I've done more thinking ( a painful amount of thinking istg /lh ) and also found / joined some other groups, blogs, etc .. I also had some experiences that changed some thoughts on my identity lol. But enough rambling I do have a couple more questions but yh !! Sorry if I'm being terribly annoying haha :'] ( hoping I use all these terms right !! I've seen them used loads but yk, haven't used them much myself hssbsvsus )
; 1. can one be, say, a fox therian but also felinehearted / cathearted in some way ?? ( as in identifying as a fox but identifying with cats / felines, if I've got those terms right ) Would those be " contradictory " or is there yk a separate more specific term for it ??
; 2. would being hamsterhearted but not being a hamster therian per say be alright ?? I haven't seen anything against it, but I still want to ask an clarify yk .. !!
; 3. going off the last one, I usually only see therians identifying as cats, dogs, wolves and maybe foxes ( nothing wrong w that ofc !! ) and never really things like insects, rodents or sea creatures ?? Is there any specific reason for this or is it more of like .. It's js hard to see yourself in animals like such, or ppl don't even consider them bc yk- oh tail I'm definitely a dog and not like a blue tongued lizard or wtv yk ? Other animals js aren't immediately thought about .. Idk I'm curious !! /nm
; 4. Is fictionkin / hearted a commonly disliked term or like, js debated lots ?? I've js seen a lot of discourse on it, and some therian and otherkin spaces rejecting them, whereas others accepting ?? Obviously this is discourse I'm used to being nuerodivergent and queer, etc, and constantly being invalidated, etc .. and I'm still making my own decision on this, but it's still like yk " oh wow " to see lots of ppl hating on a term I was gonna identify w ?? So what's the kinda common stance on the terms ?? /nm ( should I not publicly display being / questioning being fictionhearted ykwim .. :'] )
; 5. another thing related to the hamsterhearted thing ( sorry ), is it " normal " or common to feel like .. Idk like the animal is family to you ?? Not even js " yh they're a part of the family " in a pet way but like, IF I was a hamster therian they'd be my siblings yk ?? And I relate to them lots and how they are, and I feel contested w them yk .. So yh, is that a common feeling w being otherhearted ig ??
; so I think the terms I'm gonna use are fox therian, feline hearted and hamsterhearted .. Yh I like those terms .. Like I'm comfortable w them and they feel right for me. Js wanted to say that as a way to idk, say it and mean it lol. :] /pos ( I'm so sorry this ended up being another really long ask HSUSVSH </3 )
Hey, it's not annoying at all :) Also sorry for the late reply!!
You can be any mix of 'kin and 'hearted! It's not contradictory at all. But I think foxes and cats actually makes a lot of sense because they are pretty similar animals in some weird ways, like in their behaviors.
Hearttypes are an entirely separate thing from kintypes. If you are hamsterkin you don't really need to specify you are also hamsterhearted (I mean, you can if you want!) because it's kind of a given that you would feel a deep connection to the animal you identify as! Of course not everyone feels that deeply about their kintype but most do.
Pretty much exactly that. It's easier for us as (biological) humans to connect with animals that are similar to us (particularly other social mammals) or that are engrained in our culture. It's easier to see similarities in them. But I have met a ton of odd critters out there! I've met skunks, sea slugs, spiders, and all sorts of niche mythological creature-kin! They're not as common and maybe not as vocal about it, but they definitely exist.
...Are there people STILL claiming fictionkin isn't a real identity?? Lol. I'd recommend staying far away from those people. I haven't encountered gatekeepers like that in a long time. It's possible they are sticking to a very outdated, closed mindset or learning that from older people in the community. But no, it's not a common thing in my experience, unless the people it's coming from are KFF (kin-for-fun AKA "kinnies" who are misinformed and think kinning is just really liking a character and think if you actually identify as a character you're delusional). I think you're generally fine to be open about being fictionkin/questioning it. No one should be targetting you for just talking about it on Tumblr at least.
I think that is fairly common! It makes sense to see pets that are your kintype/hearttype as family. I felt that way with my dogs too :)
I'm glad you're getting comfortable with your identity! Good luck friend :)

Hello again froggy anon! Your style sounds so cool!
I decided to pair you up with…
Tumblr media
Lester Sinclair!
This man took one look at you and swooned I swear
You two definitely have an animal interest together! Going around and finding frogs, lizards, stray cats, really anything and showing it to each other! (And also probably at some point trying to keep the animals you guys find- including a possum at one point-)
He can be pretty hyper and crazy too, but you definitely take the cake! He finds it absolutely adorable and likes to strike up conversations about your interests and hobbies to see you get excited and gush about them
Lester isn’t very social himself either. He can talk to people if needed! (I mean- man literally drives people into town for his brothers to kill them) So if you don’t wanna talk to someone that’s perfectly fine! He’s happy to be the social shield for you :)
NAP. CUDDLES. TOGETHER.
Definitely asks you to draw him about a million times every day-
Also tries to sneak peaks at what you’re writing
He absolutely loves your scar and often finds himself tracing it mindlessly as you two cuddle
100% would boop your nose, 10/10 very boopable
Y’all are the couple that goes all out for Halloween. So what if Ambrose is is just the two of you plus Bo and Vincent? Y’all are decorating the entire town and they can’t stop you. *cue the two of you blasting Halloween noises from Lester’s truck*

I NEED TO ADD ONTO THIS- The topic of eugenics is A HUGEEEEEE thing tk bring up. Because its true- its THERE! We see it in the third episode, in the first ten minutes where we’re introduced to hybrids. Around the first five minutes, before Laserhawk enters the scene, we have a CEO AnimeTwinkElonMusk interact with his workers. He laughs at his worker for asking for a break and clearly forces him to work regardless of the troubles he faces, but most importantly, he says: “I made by a man and a woman, I wasn’t manufactured in a lab for a specific operational function like you.”
You know what that means? It means that they are intentionally creating hybrids and breeding them in labs to use as SLAVES for certain JOBS! Whether is be construction, making lizard juice, dairy, etc… they’re intentionally making species to abuse for specific categories of whatever slave labour they’re intended for. Crazy how art is used to mimic to real life.
But moving on-
We must bring up bullfrog again!! Because as we can tell he is clearly not a human. He fits the better description of a hybrid. Not here’s what I think happened:
To recap… These hybrids are being abused, right? So Eden has certain species doing certain jobs. We can see the pattern. Bullfrog, he is an assassin. He is also a hybrid, meant to be an assassin.
Around the end of the same episode I mentioned he does a little yapping, and says “I am the last of my kind,” which if my theory of his self being made for labour like other hybrids, implies that they originally created assassin hybrids to kill. But if these hybrids are abused, and they know how to FIGHT, obviously they’re going to retaliate and go against their abusers. Because this happened they stopped making hybrids like bullfrog.
I hope ya’ll see what i’m doing with this
Tumblr media
Idk why the images are tickling my asshole rn so ig ya’ll gonna have to try to process this unorganized ramble 😭
Actually wait something else that supports my "Sarah's story is a parallel to Bullfrog's story" theory and my "Bullfrog's mother was an assassin" theory
Sarah looks nothing like Sam
From what I've gathered regarding Splinter cell lore is that , despite being important to the main character and mother of his child, Regan Burns never had a physical appearance in any games, her physical appearance is left more or less blank
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In most media , Sarah is a white woman with dark hair while in CLH Sarah is a brown woman with silver hair
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However in both games and CLH, Sam is a white man with dark hair
While Sam in CLH isn’t an exact copy of his video game counterpart, Sam and Sarah in the splinter cell series do have a much stronger family resemblance to each other than that of their counterparts in the remixed universe
That’s….. weird, right? Like , it’s an odd creative choice to have Sarah be so drastically different to her game version that even her race is different while Sam , her father, still resembles the character he’s originally remixed from
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While concept art did explore other options regarding her hair eye, and skin colour, including pale skin and dark hair like her game version, Sarah having pale hair specifically seemed like a design element the crew felt strongly towards and wanted to use
Yes the Warden being Sarah Fisher, the daughter of Sam Fisher, is meant as a plot twist. HOWEVER, we don’t learn about Sam’s existence until Sarah explains her backstory , meaning the crew could’ve given Sam some traits to better reflect his blood connection to his daughter in this universe
Sarah’s lack of physical resemblance to her father may have some narrative symbolism to it, the most obvious being how drastically different she and her father’s morals are. However, I also think it ties back to my theory that Regan was a Templar and was the one who gave Sarah her beliefs in life that lead to her behaviour in the show proper
Sarah didn’t just inherited Regan’s Templar status and beliefs , Sarah also physically resembles her mother more than her father
I know this is completely random to bring up, but I’m making a Kingdom Hearts reference
Tumblr media
Specifically, Xehanort, a villain whose prominent features is his silver hair and gold eyes combo
Now obviously Ubisoft has no rights to use anything Kingdom hearts related , and so I seriously doubt we’ll see a flashback of Sam making out with a Xehanorted Regan in season two (don’t ask what Xehanorted is if you never played KH, it’s hard to explain)
The reason I’m bringing him up is to point out that while Captain Laserhawk is a show about video games, it’s specifically an anime show about video games
I can’t find anything regarding his opinion on the KH franchise itself, though Adi did talk about how Rodger Rabbit was an inspiration for CLH, another massive crossover story owned by Disney. Considering how he likes to tip his toes into all sorts of geeky stuff, it’s unlikely he hasn’t encountered the Kingdom Hearts franchise
I think the Templars may be inspired by Xehanort to a degree
A majority of the human characters (both who have a narrative role and background role) shown in the CLH universe thus far have natural hair and eye colours
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While there’s outliners such as Pagan Min and Mute having pink hair, those two are easily explained by the existence of hair dye
Tumblr media
Sarah however, was born with gold eyes and silver hair
Tumblr media
While I don’t think every member of the board of directors/templar order have a sun kissed complexion under those masks like Sarah does, I do think it’s likely that gold eyes and silver hair is a common trait they share under those masks
And we know from the manga that Eden is practicing some form of eugenics with how they specifically took Dolph from his own mother for having good genetics, it’s likely that the board keeps heavy tabs on people that have Templar DNA within them
“Okay so how does Bullfrog’s mother fit into this-“ you notice how Bullfrog is one of the more feminine looking male characters in the show?
Tumblr media
It may have just been me who originally mistook him for being a girl before the show actually came out, but I don’t think it’s an accident that he has feminine/softer leaning design elements. It’s even pointed out by the crew they specifically designed Bullfrog to be cute , you can even see that reflected throughout Bullfrog’s concept art
So since Sarah parallels Bullfrog, and she both took her mother’s ideals and inherited most of her physical traits from her, than it’s likely Bullfrog not only took after his mother in her beliefs, but also has a very strong resemblance to his mother
Basically, Bullfrog’s mama was a cute assassin milf

smile!! :) | oc rambling under the cut lmao
anyone who looks at my character page will see that mitsu's surname is malaguld, which - for the unaware - is a xaela tribe known for taking in raen who've been cast out of their families and whatnot. this is pretty much what happened with mitsu.
her mother's side has dragons blood in it somewhere, and occasionally it'll manifest as a second set of horns and/or unusually sharp teeth. having one trait was seen as unfortunate, but tolerable. to have both was considered a curse and you had to go.
these traits could appear in anyone at any age, and no matter how young or old you were, the moment it became known you possessed both you were immediately cast out and wiped from family records. mitsu was born with sharp teeth. the horns started growing in on her tenth birthday.
she begged and pleaded with her father as he carried her blindfolded to the desert. she'd file the horns down, she cried. no one would know. she'd pull each tooth out if it meant she could stay. it all fell on deaf ears however, as he returned home without her.
mitsu was a frail and sickly girl by default, so she was convinced she was going to die. to cut a long story short, she was found by a member of the malaguld tribe and nursed back to health. she stayed with them and took their name out of respect. now she's a dragoon WoL!
bonus: growing up she got into the habit of hiding her mouth behind her hand or sleeves when she laughs or smiles because she believes people would find her ugly or scary bc of her teeth. she doesn't do it as often these days, but she still worries about what people think of her.

Vulture Slayer
Mushroom
Eggtooth
Hanging Lichen
Hi so uhm. A few lil things lol
The clans live throughout the alcoves in the sides of an old iterator's can, high enough that the rain is only a threat in the more open areas. Some of them inhabit the abandoned city on top, but due to the multitude of vultures and the lack of easy prey, the clans opt to not go up there too often.
SaintClan is peaceful, and doesn't use spears. The rest of the clans dont take advantage of them for this because SaintClan helps all of their neighbours with illness and injury.
Incurring the wrath of SaintClan has summoned famine, plague and ferocious predators into the camps of the other clans before, so they've decided that as long as SaintClan remains the kind and peaceful neighbours they are currently, there's no good reason to attack them.
The Outlaws are basically a band of loners who live in the abandoned city atop the old iterator the clans live in. They showed up one day, and took up residence there, before beginning to show up to monthly meetings.
SlayerClan dislikes how they've let a band of rogues take up the old city and WanderClan thinks that letting the Outlaws live near them will put the clan's relationship with the scavenger tribes at risk, while SurvivorClan and ScholarClan believe that their new neighbours are a boon to the clan's trading industry as the unusual slugcats can make exotic items much faster than any natural source, leading to better trading materials and better weapons for hunting.
SaintClan has made peace with the Outlaws, simply informing them that if they are ever struck by illness or excessive injury they can ask them for help.
Setting Flame and Dew are actually Siblings, Dew was given over to SurvivorClan as payment for an attack from WanderClan causing a young pup to die after running too far from camp to get away from the attack and then getting snatched by a lizard. The two have strengthened the two clan's alliance in their leadership.
Vulture Slayer was originally in SlayerClan, and was a rather respected warrior. However, she ended up falling in love with an Outlaw and getting exiled for it. She was welcomed into SurvivorClan's ranks, and found a true passion of hers; Healing. She ended up becoming the clan's loyal healer, with her new mate eventually joining SurvivorClan with her as an Ambassador for the Outlaws.
Ghost is Albino, and was named after both their unique lack of patterning and red eyes, and how they are nearly silent whilst moving.
Hanging Lichen was born with one eye, and grows a variety of different plants out of pores on their back. They even have some wormgrass growing in them!
Mushroom and Eggtooth are the youngest slugcats to have roles as important as theirs. Eggtooth is still a pup, but is stunted and grows slower than normal pups their age.
Mushroom couldn't focus well enough to fight or hunt well, so they asked to see if they could become a doctor. They ended up being unsure of themselves at first, before meeting eggtooth and becoming rather good friends with them. Their friendship encouraged Mushroom to continue learning how to be a doctor.
I might like. Design the iterator these guys live in or whatever but like yea have these ramblings to hold u over for now ig

Reagan x GN!reader headcanons: Reagan + touch
Warnings: none really, brief mention of touch aversion and canon-typical content. SFW!
Content: physical contact preferences focusing on Reagan and involving you! Domestic and sfw
• starting off, she’s not prone nor used to physical contact. I mean just the issue with hugs alone.
• But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t like it nor enjoy it! The more time she spends around you and with you, the more comfortable she becomes. Akin to her aversion to hugs, literally decking Brett, then later on being the first to hug him after the nostalgia max event.
• It’s a long process for her, because she’s subconsciously unlearning trauma and her aversion to contact from Bear-o + her father.
• Reagan will absolutely have her tendencies and aversion to touch, there will be moments where she doesn’t want to be touched whatsoever and that’s fine! In other moments she wants to be clinging to you like a koala. Very broad spectrum regarding her physical contact limits and what she wants or does not want at times.
• You’re not sure if you regret introducing her to affectionate physical contact in certain moments when she will grasp onto you like a lifeline while cuddling. She’s essentially cling wrap now, your end times are now ig
• Reagan is a cat. Wants affection when she wants it and will throw a fit when she doesn’t get it + when she doesn’t want affection she goes off and hermits up (usually in the lab or nearby you but not touching).
• She does love holding your hands and fiddling with them. I’d like to think she stims with how she’s neurodivergent and playing with your hands helps her focus or calm down.
• I can see her rambling to you while sitting on her couch in her home, just watching tv or listening to it in the background as she talks about her work and some intricate information your brain cannot actually process, but all the while she’s fiddling with your hands, her calloused finger tips brushing your knuckles or her thumb swiping absentminded swirls on the underside of your hand, and you can’t hear a word she says because you’re fully focused on her hands holding yours and the way she finds comfort in it, comfort in you, and seeks it out.
• Stfu I’m not crying
• Her hands are the most restless part about her, constantly working on something, but as you hang out more and date longer she doesn’t just gravitate towards your hands but other spots, like the curve of your waist or the ridges of your spine. She’ll dot her fingertips across the scars she finds or the bumps and dips of your body. She also will grab onto the fabric of your clothing. Like if the two of you are standing and talking she’ll hold onto your sleeve or cuff, maybe the edge of your pants or skirt around mid thigh. (She’s not above grab ass let’s be honest but not where her coworkers will see)
• She definitely likes to curl up on you, like a lizard on a warm rock, especially after long days. Reagan will plant her head in the crook of your neck, plopping her body atop yours and splay out before curling her limbs around your body, trapping you for a shared nap you gladly partake in.
• Sensory wise, Reagan runs a bit cold to the touch which is why she seeks out the warmth you provide. Mornings are difficult enough to get her out of bed, but with you? It’s 10x more difficult with how she doesn’t want to leave bed nor leave you with how warm and soft and pliant you are-
• You’re cursed as her heating pad + body pillow + stim toy and you could not possibly be happier.

there's a limit on how much you can be an isekai intellectual...
a bunch of analyses have been popping up before me all day so i wanted to throw my hat into the ring. all love to ppl who are exercising their creative minds + ppl like geoff here who just talk about these things because of fan interest but i feel like there reaches a point where exploring the "types" of isekai is pointless? i've seen ppl list out the different types of villainess revenge isekai or fantasy mmorpg isekai but eh why fit them all into separate boxes like that?
i think it's easier to think of isekai as a "type" (genre) of itself with only two categories: 1) a focus on isekai (lit. another world) 2) tensei (lit. to be reborn). this allows for a variety of applications and thus tropes that ppl see so many trends of!
with isekai - in another world
you see everything from:
pure fantasy (inuyasha, digimon wait maybe not the best example but in my childhood mind i count digimon as pure fantasy, fushigi yugi)
mmorpg inspired fantasy/adventure (.hack//legend of twilight, sao ugh, log horizon, overlord (LOVE OVERLORD!)
otome game-esque worlds >>> this is where it gets complicated with "villainess routes" since i admit there are multiple villainess tropes but this is why it's nice to not think of this as a "sub-type/genre" bc it frees you from those complications! (the saint's magic power is omnipotent, the white cat's revenge as plotted from the dragon king's lap soso cute!, the savior's book cafe in another world, i'm a villainous daughter so i'm going to keep the last boss wait i can't remember if she's reborn in this one lmaooo see this is why rules make everything hard)
with tensei storylines - being reincarnated/reborn in another world as *insert character/role*
you see...
the same tropes!!
pure fantasy (a returner's magic should be special, reminiscence adonis, the lady and the beast, light and shadow, i can't think of a manga off the top of my head for this ah)
mmorpg inspired fantasy/adventure (so i'm a spider so what i stan kumoko so hard, her majesty's swarm, can't name another off the top of my head ah i hate lists shorter than two things...)
self-insert based games/novels (fiance's observation log of a self-proclaimed villainess, who made me a princess, death is the only ending for the villainess, the villainess wants to marry a commoner, honestly games vs novels are different applications but i'm not in the headspace to try to remember a bunch of both lol)
*insert line break to give random ppl a break from scrolling but tl; dr just enjoy things for what they are no need to micro analyze*
similar variations occur in both genres (if ppl want to be super technical i guess i'm arguing that isekai itself is a massive genre that has the "another world" subgenre and "reincarnation" subgenre tl; dr) so i think it's honestly a huge pain to try to separate all these trends into so many different types of stories. for me personally it's easier to not get overwhelmed by this gigantic umbrella of "isekai" that spans light novels, manhwa, manga, and mobile games by just stripping each story down into its trademark tropes (aka character archetypes, story structures) and slapping "oh this is a person going to a world that's not ours" and "this person gets reborn as blank in another world". none of this "omg this power fantasy is such a this kind of isekai moment" or "there are 14 different types of villainess revenge stories and this series fits into this" bc AH labels! limitations! circle-jerks via ppl trying to compartmentalize everything and sound smart for leaving a comment on story analysis instead of ooh-ahhing over a character's face! dividing things into light novel manga vs manga vs korean manhwa ft. female characters!
the last bit is mainly why i feel frustrated by ppl's insistence to group everything?
the video linked at the beginning of the post (honestly good video essay, i enjoyed it, i just kept thinking in my head the whole time "marimo these are tropes do not take the genre talk literally") has a baby comment thread talking about "korean isekai manhwas" as a genre featuring nothing but reincarnated villainess' and i can't.
like i cannot acknowledge that as a genre of any sort. the energy i felt reading through some of those insights takes me back to 2012 when all yt americans discovered k-pop and deemed all korean music k-pop from then on! (ppl still do this now, yes you are seen and don't talk to me pls i don't like you. k-pop is korean pop music and nothing less and nothing more. take a few seconds and try to parse apart aspects of korean culture instead of slamming everything into a monolithic label that has the letter k and a hyphen.) it feels so odd to see a bunch of young ppl on ig and tiktok acknowledge korean media that happens to be in the form of a webtoon as "oh stories all about young girls becoming villains in stories they made/played" bc it feels so reductive u.u
(positionality disclaimer that i'm praying isn't actually necessary: i am a 3rd-generation korean of japanese descent do not fite me i am exhausted irl of ppl asking for validation/verification bc massive shove off.)
breaking news! korean manhwa...is just as multifaceted as japanese manga...bc how can comics as an art-form not have multiple genres...huh such a shocker?!?! same likely applies to media in other parts of the world like chinese manhwa and french comics--not my place to explain either of those i just know those industries exist bc of wakfu and donghua shows by Tencent.
at the end of the day it's not like analyzing any kind of isekai is wrong--absolutely not!! i think it can be super fun to think about how isekai elements complicate a story (MCs trying to go back home, ppl from the og world, reincarnation plot-twists) or maybe even bash a series for including some kind of other world element when they could have just written a super fun fantasy.
insert marimo's brief ramble that hey you can get sick of truck-kun's hitting disillusioned guys who happen to be super duper smart or girls who happen to be master chefs/craftsmen but transporting a fully-grown being into a fantasy setting is the ultimate cheat code for making mundane modern technology seem cool and overpowered, and being reincarnated as a fully grown person in a world with a pre-made story/game set-up completely bypasses the need for an author to slowly flesh out world-building in a natural progression so isekai is actually a really smart writing tool it's just that there are some series where the author didn't use it well at all and it's cheesy or clearly isekai was misused as a vehicle for character/story development and it was pointless *DEEP BREATH OUT*
in this essay i will argue...lol i am such a culture studies major!! if i were an english major i would be talking all about writing but here i am having a side-tangent about world-building via someone being reborn wow i love this for me (don't get me started on when an author has someone reincarnate as a baby and the story is mostly them having warm fluffy moments with their family--typically father figures--and getting lots of powers i could and would and probably will rant about east asian toxicity)
but anyway am i crazy????? like yes for being passionate about the technical use of a word like genre (i am a scorpio rising let me be fussy pls) but i don't think it's a lot to ask for ppl to not unironically see "villainess revenge isekai" as the definition of korean manhwa.
idk as someone who resonates with why japanese isekai is so popular domestically + why a lot of korean manhwa feat. the same tropes (it's not for great reasons lads it's actually depressing tbh) i'm just starting to feel kind of pained by the generalization and need to separate "cute japanese girl in an otome game"/"japanese boy finds a harem in another world" from "korean girl dies and comes back as a villainess" bc they are just! applications to the same story device!!
recommendations for any who makes it this far down below <3
// also gladly recommend any of the examples i've listed in the above rant as i've read/watched all of them and adore them v much! //
save me princess
super refreshing fantasy manhwa ft. a princess and her ex-boyfriend having to save the world!
the beginning after the end
an AMERICAN web novel turned into a comic (but see it being not korean/japanese doesn't really matter when you just consider isekai as a genre...isn't it nice to not overthink it?) ft. a super-powerful wizard king reincarnated into another world and starting from scratch--gives mushoku tensei vibes but huge twists!
the reason why raeliana ended up at the duke's mansion
love love LOVE this story--read the title and you'll learn how this girl reincarnated as the character raeliana in a book gets married to a duke!
trash of the count's family
such a good novel!! a guy gets reborn as a lazy oaf and he takes the hero of the story under his wing...plot twists come up later on!
this time i will definitely be happy!
v good and refreshing for a shorter series! she's been reborn 3 times and remembers every time the hero's stabbed her in the back, and now she just wants to break up with him!
silver diamond
older manga but v good adventure w intrigue! a boy who loves plants get sucked into a desert world with demonic lizards and a mysterious bodyguard by his side. shonen-ai not BL but wonderful vibes nonetheless + great side characters!
the princess imprints a traitor
adore everything in this from the world (not in that way this society makes me so angry) to the machinations at play and the dynamic between the fl and ml

jgriohagorhbiorghfvhgifvoghf ano really tho this is a gonna be a rambling weird gender shit post i just wanted to have a stupid name ghriohaguohguovhoge ok under the cut if you wanna read if not just move along bye lol
ok disclaimer on gender swap/genderbends, stuff like that
personally i am the person on the right of this post that doesn’t mind rule 63 of the internet its a good post that explains how some ppl may be ok with this trope and some are not
also more nuanced post explaining how genderswap/genderbends can be transphobic if not done well, etc.
anyways!
ive realized that in hindsight maybe i shouldve realized that i was not cis sooner bc i was always drawn to female/afab characters that crossdressed or hid their gender such as:
haruhi from ouran
mulan
haru from aoharu x kikanjuu that really edgy anime about some japanese ppl who have local bb gun tournaments in the woods, etc.
jackie faber, a girl who for various reasons disguises herself as a boy and sneaks onto a british navy ship
also altho it was minor and she wasn’t doing it in real life, moriko morioka from mmo junkie played her mmo with a male avatar
also not cross dressing or anything, but i was very interested by gender bends of characters and especially love the fiona and cake episodes of adventure time
alex dragalia lost (she doesn’t hide her gender or crossdress or anything, but she is very androgynous and i love her)
i guess that, much like how i never referred to myself with feminine terms or with she/her pronouns when thinking of myself, on some subconsciousness level,  related to/with or wanted to be like them in the way that they were able to physically pass as male or be at least gender ambiguous. in hindsight, i probably was experiencing some major gender envy or something.
anywyas uwuwuuwuwuwuwu i wish that shapeshifting or devil fruit powers like iva’s (instant magical hrt via control of hormones) were real so i (and all other trans/gnc ppl can just instantly get the types of bodies that we want and can just change them any time or day and stuff like uuu that’d be so cool
maybe thats also why sci-fi things like altered carbon and ghost in the shell also appeal to me. like. if you have enough money, just. make your own android body and put your brain in it. discard your former useless flesh prison.
anyways ill probs make some meme with more recent characters that are like. gender envy. to me lol. more recently its just. like. androgynous boys. lol. like. mascula, summer norwin, vice, and delphi from dragalia lost. albedo from genshin. just. short king representation. love to see it lol.
(ironically, despite being a short person irl and i guess wanting to look like a short androgynous monarch of some kind, my ffxiv avatar is just. tall. tall man. tall lizard au ra manly man. fjrhiaoghreogiheriogheiohfg lol i couldve picked an average or slightly smaller than average cat man avatar but no. i want to be tall. playing ffxiv and having basically all the other scions look up to me in cutscenes bc they’re all not male au ra and im literally the physically tallest person in the room (other than urianger ig lol) gives me some small joy in my heart daily lololol)

Putting the GR live recaps under a cut. Meant to do this last night but I can’t ever do it correctly from my phone.  Thank you to the brave people who took some anti-nausea meds and powered through the Gavin Rossdale Is A Dirty Liar Show ... brought to you by Gavin Rossdale.  You deserve medals.
Anonymous said: GR brought King & Apollo in at the end of his live to say hello and to promote King's band. I'm sure when he posts the live on IG he'll use them as the thumbnail.
Anonymous said: GR is having a doozy of a live. When answering questions, he mentioned Gwen like 3 times and talked about divorce. I can't even process it all as he is rambling and seems a bit drunk. He's drank like 2 beers already and forgot how to play his own songs and is asking his band mates for the chords. I guess parenting responsibilities are getting to him so he had to escape and fill his ego with his 300 fans building him up and telling him he's the greatest.
Anonymous said: Someone commented on GR's IG live about missing him and Gwen and he read it and said something along the lines of "yeah, me too" and "it's sad". He also said divorce is both parties fault and it's always 50/50 and sometimes 70/30. He said her name like 3 times. He's not happy about the stories of why the divorce happened and doesn't find it anyone's business. He said he lost friends post divorce, but said they were never friends in the first place if they choose one side or the other. Pathetic.
Anonymous said: Oh jeez. On GR's IG live he talked about the lizards death and said one one of the boys left a 4.5 ft python in the yard and they lost it. What a great father. Now a fucking python is probably roaming the neighborhood.

@thepansecretagent You really want one? I’ll give one!!
I’m gonna ramble about an aspect of biology and evolutionary studies that I find really interesting: vestigial structures!
Vestigial Structures :  various cells, tissues, and organs in a body which no longer serve a function
Basically something that isn’t necessary, doesn’t have a purpose, but is still part of an organism’s anatomy for whatever reason-
These are often cited as evidence for evolution. This is because they show parts of organisms that used to be necessary, but aren’t anymore because of changes in condition. Evolution isn’t a perfect process, there isn’t any logic to it, so sometimes bits like these stay. They can help point to common ancestors between species as well!
Here are some of my favorites :D
Human
Coccyx: more commonly known as the tailbone. It consists of a bunch of fused vertebrae at the base of the pelvis. Why the hell do we have tailbones but no tails? Our ancestors did! Those fused vertebrae likely formed a large, prehensile tail used for grabbing branches and assisting with balance. As we stopped living in trees, the tails didn’t really have a purpose anymore- and so it was lost. Modern monkeys still have these tails, as their lives are primarily spent in trees, but modern great apes do not, as they live a less arboreal lifestyle. The loss of the tail signifies the transition into bipedalism :]
Wisdom Teeth: here’s an example of a vestigial that is not only unnecessary, it’s (in many cases) straight up harmful! Ouch! Human skulls used to be larger than they are, so we’d obviously need more teeth to fill up those big ol’ jaws of ours. We also needed those back teeth more because human predecessors ate tougher diets. Our food is way softer, mostly thanks to cooking developments and other food processing. What sucks about wisdom teeth is, even though there isn’t space in our modern shrunk down skulls, they still like to grow in where they don’t belong. Most people have to have those teeth taken out because they cause awful pain and can mess up your other toofers :[ overall, these suck and are completely pointless now, but they give us info about the lifestyles, diet, and anatomy of human ancestors, so ya know... give and take ig.
Goosebumps: ya know when you’re cold and the hair on your arms sticks up, your skin gets all bumpy, and it feels weird as hell? You can thank some vestigial muscles for that! When humans were hairier and had thick, furry coats, this helped trap more air in the fur and keep us warm- sadly, since we’ve lost our coats over time, this doesn’t keep us warm anymore :/ I mostly think this one is funny for some reason dwibcsbk
Vestigial Limbs!
Snakes: dude this has given us so much info about the evolution of species and the order and stuff. It had been assumed for a looooonnng time that snakes gave rise to lizards, and that lizards evolved limbs from there. But no! We were fooled! Lots of snakes have vestigial bones where a lizard’s legs would go! They’re super similar, too. That’s not the only vestigial structure snakes have. They have a vestigial lung- they only use one lung, but there’s another one there, suggesting that they evolved from two-lunged, four-legged creatures; not the other way around :}
Whales: yeah. Whales probably came from a four legged ancestor- imagine a modern whale with legs?? That’s so funny to me- Anyways, whale ancestors were kinda like hippos, we think, and their limbs were used for swimming. Over time, the front ones morphed into fins, and the back ones were lost entirely! But there are still bones where the hind legs used to be, detached from the main skeleton.
Miscellaneous?
Useless Eyeballs: Lots of blind fish, salamanders, and similar creatures that live in caves have eyeballs. They don’t use them at all, they don’t need to, but they gottem!
Useless Wings: lots of flightless birds have wings for literally no reason- I think it’s gotta be annoying to have these big thingys haning off you that you can’t even use, but that could just be me idk
so anyways. vestigial structures cool. sorry if this got incoherent by the end, i’m just havin a good time :]
which sanders side are you but it's my own personal interpretation of the characters
here u go have a uquiz
idk what else to say lmao
feel free to rb with your results if u want
if it’s inaccurate,, sorry-
