Most notable things for this pic are that Luz is Raine and Eda’s daughter. More explanation in the actual fic but, by this point, she’s started going my her birth name more often and some of her friends and family have taken to calling her Mel.

Hunter is obviously not the Golden Guard in this fic either. He’s Liz’s cousin and was ‘surprise adopted’ by Darius and Lilith as a baby and raised as their son, Evan. He knows he’s adopted but doesn’t exactly know everything about his ‘birth parents’…Yet… His hair cut is more or less the same as in the show but sometimes he’ll grow the top out a little so he can put it in a ponytail kind of like Soka’s. He likes it when his parents play with his hair.

The two were just goofing around while at the night market with Raine and Eda and stumbled upon something they shouldn’t have.

the titans as a race were some type of god long ago and they made the demon realms as a place kinda like the ruins or abyss

the boiling isles are a knotted gravesfield that sunk into the demon realm after the titans death cause “titan power” to pool there

Luz is not a practitioner but actually just an aware and the glyphs are channeling the titans energy instead of drawing on her Self or whatever

If we wanna get super fucked up we can say Eda is playing the long con and is gonna like steal Liz’s bones or some messed up shit.

Ooo or we could go even further and scrap the knotted gravesfeild and just say that Eda is a fae and the boiling isles are just a fae trick à la that one witch hunter who got kidnapped and stuck in fake fairy fantasy land

With that last one you could strike a good place vibe and have Eda eventually take a liking to luz after a while and try to actually help her escape

Maybe amity is a super young fae who also cares for luz because she hasn’t been taught anything else and helps with her escape attempt

Oh shit you could also do hunter as a human who’s been in fae land all is life and thinks he’s a fairy and fights luz only to join her later

Wow that all just sorta started flowing once I put down the first ideas but that’s all I have right now. Idk maybe all out some more down later

the good news is that at last my Tomb of Horrors campaign has ended

we defeated the demilich by putting it inside a wall of fire inside a wall of force (so, we cooked it in an oven) (it was super effective)

the bad news is that, uh, we had all picked up various weapons and treasure during our time in the dungeon, and so when the actual lich showed up a few minutes later, it basically took control over us through the various items aaaand now we’re all minions of his

this means that, now that we are playing Tomb of Annihilation, our new characters are at some point going to have to fight our old characters

this means i’m going to have to fight jyn!! ;_;

Alexander Gideon Lightwood (Shadowhunters TV) - Alexander, my beloved, there is little better than his sarcastic lines. Best dismissal ever: I have a wedding to plan.

Dr. Reid Oliver and Luke Snyder (Guidling Light) - One of my favorite enemies to lovers ships of all time. These two had the best snark banter of anyone ever. Also, Guiding Light ended on September 3rd, 2010. Whatever happened after that episode is factually untrue. ;)

OMG rogue!jyn almost died at D&D today ;_;

If you’ve been following along with this since it started back in October, you might recall this run of Tomb of Horrors was only supposed to last one day, on Halloween, and my party has managed to stretch it out for what -- half a year? Oh gosh. 

Last time, which was about a month ago (admittedly we only meet about once a month), we finally stumbled on “the columned hall” (there’s a poem-warning we received at the entrance of the tomb that has various landmarks in it, and the columned hall is supposedly one near the end, if we’re interpreting it correctly). We were pretty hopeful that today would be the last session.

Nope.

(Of course not.)

Instead of finding the main villain, we opened a sarcophagus and had to fight a mummy.

Most of the party were fighting some animated swords and shields when our bard ran off to do her own exploring. In the process, she removed a blue gem from the forehead of a mummy that our druid had previously discovered (and abandoned to help with the fight). Once the gem was removed, the mummy woke up, disappeared, and ... hell broke lose.

The columned hall was 110 x 110 feet, and, as the name suggests, was filled with wide columns, maybe 3 feet in diameter. They pulsated with yellow light as sand spilled from their bases. The sand swirled everywhere, rose up 50 feet towards the ceiling, and divided into two main streams that flowed towards two corners of the ceiling, where two wide-mouthed statues sucked it away.

So we pretty much jumped straight from one battle to another.

From the corridor with the swords and shields, Jyn looked back into the hall to see nothing but sand, flashing light, and two of her comrades engaged in battle with... something. She hurried forward and saw the mummy. With no time to sheath her swords* and draw her crossbow, she rushed to aid our bard. But her slash did nothing (rolled an 18 for a 26 attack, and even though it hit the DM didn’t even bother asking me to roll damage). The wrappings that ripped mended themselves. But she couldn’t abandon the bard, so Jyn remained flanking.**

Turns out: the mummy was completely resistant to non-magic items. Rogue!Jyn has no magic and no magic items! (This is partly due to the fact that even though we built our characters at level 10, I neglected to “go shopping” ahead of time and make sure I was stocked appropriately, as a level 10 adventurer should be. And partly because my DM failed to mention this was an option and also partly because most campaigns I’ve ever participated in never actually reach level 10, so heck if I knew this would be a Thing I should prepare for but no I’m not bitter at all nope.)

And then the mummy turned and performed Dreadful Glare. I rolled a 3 (my rolls were *shit* today, except when we were fighting animated swords and shields, but you know, that was an important battle). So not only was Jyn “frightened,” but also paralyzed. Greeeat. So the mummy attacked paralyzed!Jyn and of course, she went unconscious (my HP was at 39 out of 73 when I started this fight -- our whole party is sorely in need of a long rest but hadn’t had an opportunity recently).

Is the mummy done yet?

Nope. Of course not.

It shoves Jyn into the stream of rising sand, and her limp body flows along with the stream -- straight towards the mouth of one of the raised statues.

CUE PANIC.

“Well Jyn does die in the movie,” someone says, I think it was the guy playing our paladin.

“SHE DIES IN CASSIAN’S ARMS AND CASSIAN IS NOT HERE SHE CANNOT DIE NOW” i say, totally calm and rational

...i honestly don’t remember exactly what he said in response except the words “platonic friend zone” 

ok so like. my DM would have been very unhappy (since we had already started half an hour late and u know we were in the middle of a big battle) if i had launched into a long lecture about how (a) cassian and jyn are not platonic at all and (b) the whole concept of friend zoning is total bullshit

so with all the restraint i could muster i simply said NO.

fortunately at that time, said paladin swung the magical flail (that had been obtained as a result of previous battle) and decapitated the mummy.

(i guess i can’t be too mad.)

also fortunately, our valor bard returned from the sidequest he’d gone on (yea... we’re not exactly a particularly, um, unified party? there’s maybe a collection of 2 of us -- the druid and jyn -- that are like ‘let’s just go straight through this thing so we can get the heck out of here’ the rest of the group just kinda does stuff, occasionally helpful, occasionally NOT)

yea so the valor bard showed up, dimension door’d up to Jyn and whipped out his immovable rod, and stopped her from getting sucked into the statue. Then he healed her with a potion and All Was Fine.

Time for that freaking long rest.

*I would have rather given Jyn clubs to mimic her truncheons, but swords do more damage and I knew that’d be helpful. She does have Dual Wielding as feat, main weapon is a rapier, then shortsword. She also has a club, a light crossbow, and a hand crossbow. One of my favorite things is having a magic user cast light on a crossbow bolt and shooting it down a dark corridor. Pew pew!

**Okay technically I don’t think flanking exists in 5e? But anyways, Jyn stayed in position so the bard could continue to get advantage. The rest of our party was using ranged attacks.

adventures of rogue!jyn - update

well i was really hoping to post tonight that we had defeated the lich and we were done with this damn dungeon

that did not happen

as it turns out, what we thought was the lich and the final baddie was very much Not a Lich At All

the last five minutes of our previous session it was described as like, a skeletal being with faces in its chest and a crown and so were like ‘oh lich’

but uh, no, that was incorrect

it was a devourer, and actually our party defeated it super easily so jyn only got one shot at it before it went down (started out far away and around 2 corners bc two of the party members are the charge forward variety)

on the other hand, Jyn DID find an 8-foot tall humanoid skeleton and chopped it’s head off in a pretty epic move so that was pretty satisfying (srsly the thrill of the DM saying ‘how do you want to do this?’ i can’t even)

but we still have no idea how much we have left in this dungeon and are a little miffed as to how far along we are

i’m thinking of doing a write-up of the adventures of rogue!jyn so that’s a future possibility

so back in October, I mentioned I was playing Jyn as a rogue in a Tomb of Horrors D&D campaign (and Leia as a bard, but Jyn hasn’t died yet, so I haven’t had to switch yet). What was supposed to be a one-shot campaign has taken us 4 sessions, but we just got to the final room (I think? I mean, there’s a lich there) and we’re scheduled to play next Sunday, so.

Jyn got to destroy a swarm of snakes & take down a bodak today, so she’s feeling pretty good.

Great News: He's planning an October-themed one-shot dungeon crawl!

Better News: I'm gonna be a rogue! this is super exciting because our other campaign is missing a rogue and our current trap-finding strategy is "walk around and see what happens" and I've had enough, enough I tell you!

Best News: ME: "i'm calling dibs on the rogue! omg what if i just make jyn! she's a rogue!! get it!! haha i'm totally joking right" DM: "You can be Jyn!"

so good news: my DM said to bring our new characters for our next campaign to the next session because we are almost done with Tomb of Horrors!!!!!

but bad news: this means i will no longer be playing with jyn! and also it’s highly likely that we’re all gonna die because combat encounters usually take forever and he’s only budgeting like an hour or two for us to find acererak’s lair and fight him???? sooooo that does not bode well for us
