Happy New Year everyone! I have once again read a lot of fics in 2022 and want to share my favorites. I’m only reccing complete fics as usual, although I’m reading a lot of amazing WIPs. Maybe at some point I’ll do a special WIPs rec list?

Having a crush on Shouyou has some particular effects on Atsumu's life, like making him act without thinking, causing his heart to flutter when he sees him, and forcing him to make a fool of himself as he tries to impress him.

It's a combination of all three that have Atsumu on an ice rink, pretending to know what he's doing, when he doesn't have a single clue.

He's not entirely sure, but it's been driving him up the wall! Perhaps his trip to spend a weekend with Atsumu in Hirakata will lead to some answers. At least he has a helpful friend group backing him up! Well... somewhat helpful. Alternatively: Pining, Third-Year Hinata has the hots for Rookie Atsumu, and it's becoming a problem.

Title: Disequilibrium Author: bokubroya (liarielle) Pairing: None Rating: Teen Word Count: 15,200 Summary: “I received a call from Hinata’s father,” he begins, finally looking up at the rest of them. “For the time being, Hinata will not be returning to practice. His father didn’t provide many details, not yet at least. He did say that it’s not because of his injuries, Hinata has fully recovered. He also…” Takeda-sensei trails off then, his mouth pressing into a firm line. “Take-chan?” Tanaka is the first one brave enough to speak up. “What’s wrong?” Takeda-sensei takes a deep breath and squares his shoulders back, meeting their eyes. “He said that he can’t guarantee that Hinata will be coming back.” ----- Or, what if, after Hinata and Kageyama fight, Hinata questions whether he should continue playing with Karasuno?

12 - what's a character you view in a different way than most of the fandom? how do you view them?

well, I've talked about France when I was asked this before, so I'm gonna say Russia now. I don't think mine is a very original take since the fandom as whole has more or less been able to shake off the early fandom view of Russia as that weird insane character prone to extreme violence and have embraced the Tired Old Man version of him and I have been enjoying that far more. I think the people that dislike Russia the character because of Russia the country, especially now in the context of the war, are more than valid. But I also think it's important to disassociate hetalia characters from their governments (past and present) and instead align them with their peoples and culture. A nuanced take is always better than labeling a character good or evil.

Title: An incredibly awkward date

Pairing: Jude/Alvin, Aruju (that’s the name right?)

Summery: Alvin asked Jude on a date however Jude didn’t think he meant romantically 

Note: .I honestly had no idea what I was doing but I went for a canon verse awkward date so I hope that’s fine with you (I prefer canon over AUs) I am  not very accustomed with this pairing so my apologies if it is awkward and or weird

Jude doesn’t know how to react when Alvin suddenly asks him on a ‘date’ he didn’t object to the idea however he’s surprised by the er… Nature he is asked in.

“Alvin you don’t seem very trustworthy avoiding my eyes like that.”

“I’m avoiding your eyes because it’s embarrassing!”

Jude gives Alvin a disbelieving look. “Considering how shameless you usually are this is kinda…weird.”

No longer flustered Alvin looks to Jude and makes an offended gasp. Jude nearly rolls his eyes from the obvious fakeness. “What 'shameless?’ I am the definition of gentleman.”

Jude can’t stop his laugh after that retort. “Yeah right. Anyway you wanted to go on a date right? Let’s go.”

Alvin lets out a defeated sigh and drops his shoulders. “You make it sound like nothing.”

Jude tilts his head. He honestly doesn’t know why the older man is making such a big deal out of it; it wasn’t like they hadn’t already eaten out many times before.

The walk there is mostly normal except the fact that Alvin for some reason refuses to look at him. Jude considers calling him out on it but it isn’t like he’s particularly starving for Alvin’s attention so he doesn’t bother.

However once there Jude’s patience are just about worn when Alvin stares at him for ten seconds, blushes, then quickly looks away.

“Alvin, seriously, what is wrong with you?”

Reluctantly Alvin looks back at him. “We’re on a date Jude.”

“I know that but why are you- oh!?”

Oh…

Jude realizes it and suddenly his face feels hot and he really doesn’t want to look at Alvin either.

Jude covers his face, “Oh my god…” He moans. He’s embarrassed and he kinda doesn’t want to be there anymore. He wants to go home curl up on his bed and pretend this never happened.

He peeks through his fingers and sees Alvin grinning.

This bastard!

“Why are you grinning?”

“You being embarrassed makes me feel better”

Jude groans. He wants to punch him really hard at the moment. “Yes because the guy who was so vague his date didn’t know they were going on a romantic date is so amazing.”

Alvin makes a sound as if he was actually punched. “Cold Jude.” Jude ignores him, and Alvin says more. Sounding more serious. “But Jude you seriously didn’t suspect that I was asking you on a real date.”

“Considering how much you tease me I don’t see why I should trust anything you say.”

“Ouch a bit far don’t you think?”

Jude crosses his arms. “No not far enough if you ask me.”

Alvin sighs then stands up. “I’ll go then.”

Jude reaches out and grabs Alvin’s wrist. He really thinks I’m mad? “Alvin sit back down.” Jude stares at him until he eventually sits back down and Jude smiles when he does.

“You… Want me stay?”

Jude groans. “Of course. I never said I didn’t want to date you.”

“Wait so you mean.”

Jude blushes and looks away. Ah this is embarrassing. Jude seriously wants to run away but- “I mean lets finish this date…”

Alvin hesitates. “Romantically?” He tests. Hoping that’s what he meant, and not just finish eating and then pretend nothing ever happened.

“Yes romantically,” Jude mumbles. Too flustered to speak loudly..

Of course even though they agreed to that all that followed was them eating and awkwardly glancing at each other while making irrelevant small talk.

Once they finish eating they decide to leave and part ways to try and think on what happened, but before hand they talk before saying their goodbyes to each other

“So see you around?” Alvin guesses.

Stop being so awkward!

“Uh… yeah I guess.” Jude answers.

Alvin starts to walk away. This is terrible. Jude doesn’t want to let him walk away. He wants to stop him for some reason.

Before he can think on it anymore he’s already carrying himself towards Alvin’s direction and reaching out and grabbing his arm pulling him down to place a quick peck on Alvin’s cheek.

Alvin looks at Jude and blinks.

“Uh…” Jude glances side to side before finally clinching his fist and running away while shouting “S-See you tomorrow!”

Alvin scratches cheek while watching Jude run off.

“This all started as a disaster, but I guess it turned out okay in the end.” He shrugs his shoulders then keeps on his way home with a satisfied grin on his face

And do you know of/have you written any meta on it? I'd be so so so interested. Also, adding my appreciation of how you rebutted OP there.

I haven’t seen or written any meta on it, but honestly I’ve been wanting to write one about it for a while now, so if you’d like I could make one later this week. And yeah, that skit is definitely one of the scenes I wish to discuss, but not the only one.

Today I’m far too tired to write anything serious though, as I haven’t slept properly for two days thanks to E3 conferences and an illness, but after I’ve rested it would  be nice to write one if you don’t mind waiting for a couple of days :’>

When you return to Nia Khera after Jude decides to go with Milla (and meet back up w/ Alvin to pay him), Alvin looks disappointed that Jude has decided to go with Milla. Why do you think this is?

Koo let me know about all the hard work you guys put in to making sure I got some love in China (that sounds… too sexual. But I can’t seem to think of another way to put it SO…)(lmao too sexual, because a little bit sexual or medium amounts sexual is a-okay) and this is like another overwhelming wave of emotion hitting me.

First, let me tell you, I got the package at the school (obviously, because my apartment doesn’t have a mailbox) and the teachers stayed a half hour into their lunch hour watching me up wrap everything. And they were mad jealous. Both foreign teachers kept muttering, “our friends would never do this for us” and I kept chirping, “that’s because I have the bestest friends, losers”.

When I first opened it, all I saw was a mass of letters, and that’s what I thought the package was. Honestly, a collection of letters from you guys was more than enough. Cue first bit of crying. Then I started reading Koo’s letter explaining everything and I started tearing up again. Then, because the foreigners here have gotten used to suffering, I was persuaded to open everything in front of them and boast (okay, last part was all me, but, really, really, really you guys).

I managed to keep up the lovefest during the day by reading everyone’s letter in turn during the breaks, which turned out to be a bit of a problem, because that made it especially difficult to put on my bitchface before class (and maintain it during. Radiating happiness made the students were quite concerned about their own welfare. As they should be). I put the letters with my growing collection on my desk that I look through periodically when China gets to be too much (so like every second of every day).

I was going to write individual letters, but I highly doubt they’ll get to you before I come home (JUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), so I’m thinking I’ll save the last bit of my postage for Beijing postcards? Ah, I’ll have to remember to review mailing addresses, because I’ve discovered that some people have ventured out into unknown parts of Canada (aka, the Maritimes). But I’m really going to try hard to send everyone a responding message via the internets before I leave here. I have 2-3 trips planned before I leave and only five weekends left. Plus, the schedule for this month is all ‘screw the foreigners who are leaving’ which is great. Just great. :’D

Ah fuck, I’m crying again.

I really can’t put into words how touched I am (again with the sexual phrasing. Guess what isn’t happening in China)(tmi)(aw fuck I already told you I’m crying, it’s like we’re all already married)(harem wives for life). I really don’t know what to say in face of all this kindness and generosity and love. The only words that are coming to me is that this means a lot. A lot a lot. More than I can put down on a page. And that is some truly shitty writing.
