Yesterday and Today. You close your eyes to end one day, fall asleep, and if you're lucky, you drift off into a far off place of magic in your dreams. When you open your eyes again, everything is different. Except not. You stand in the same place you stood yesterday morning, take in the view of the same tree, same yard, same house. But the air is colder, and someone is draping a white blanket of snow upon the bit of spring that had begun to stir. It makes me think of Pema Chodron's quote "You are the sky. Everything else – it’s just the weather." Except maybe we are the earth as well? Maybe are ground and rock and roots and growth. We weather the seasons. We turn our faces toward the sun and we stretch for the light. We grow between the cracks of a changing world, and with our blooms we delight those who slow down enough to see us. I have absolutely no idea what the weather will bring tomorrow, a week from now, or months from now, but I will still be me and you will still be you. And I see you. Trying to find the light and warmth. Trying to grow. Trying to keep up with the changes. We all are. In the meantime, we will do our best to shake off the snow and await the eventual arrival of spring without interruption. There will be rain showers and storms, of that I'm sure - but we'll get through those, too. Is it just me, or is there something a bit magical about the springtime morning light? I suppose it could be from the fact that it accompanies the first few sips of coffee, but no... that's not it. It's the way it reaches low and far across the earth, illuminating all of the new growth, buds, and blossoms. And you know that if you stood right there in the midst of the day of sunshine, you'd feel the warmth of the light falling upon you. You'd close your eyes, feel the sun warming the parts that have been hidden in the shadows for the long, long, night. And you, too, would be illuminated. Yep. A little love for my #littleclosetwindow fans. It's been a while. I know. She's still there, offering beautiful views. Most days, though, I miss the good morning light and get home it's gone again. A delay in the start to by day revealed a beautiful ice-covered scene. Well... beautiful from the inside at least. Grateful that the sun melted away the cold hard ice during the day. Sometimes, you just need a shift in perspective to help you see the overlooked things in your life. Sometimes you need to examine the same thing from a million different angels to make sense of a thing. And sometimes, your perspective shifts when you are weighted down by life as it unfolds. Shift. Shift. Shift. When your heart is a bit heavier than usual, when fog has veiled the view in the distance, and clouds keep the sun from showering us with her warm delicious glow, you find yourself a dipping a little lower than usual. Do not fret. Just turn your face upwards and wait for the sun to break through. The world still turns, and she is still there. Steadfast and persistent. The things beyond the view from the little closet window are waiting with you, for one day soon... the sun's light will wipe away the cloudy skies. Getting lost in thoughts of those sunnier days.
