What are some of your favourite character dynamics to read about? Do you follow tropes much, or do you prefer a more individual/circumstantial approach?
Oooh!! Thatβs a good question!!
Honestly I think itβs a bit of both. I definitely have tropes Iβm more attached too but any can be great, it just depends on who is writing them.
When it comes to gay male fiction my tastes tend to be more varied. But Iβm riding high on that werewolf train at the moment lololol.
When itβs just a fun romance and one Iβm turning my brain off to , and because Iβm lonely and mentally ill lol, I really enjoy the trauma comfort type of romances. Where one or both of the characters REALLY go through it and get love and comfort from their love interest.
I also feel like the only stories I donβt have any issue with instant love being in are werewolf romances. Because there is just this like universal lore in modern werewolf romances involving soul mates. But for everything else I really love a good slow burn. But again there are times were itβs pretty quick and still done well!
I feel like I have a much stronger pull to historical lesbian fiction. Especially if itβs in like a small town, a small property, has farmers or cowboys in it. Those are my go to ideas for lesbian fiction. I canβt get enough of it!!
I just love my characters to be in love. I know some people really like the will they wonβt they , on again off again, always bickering relationships, but I just love seeing two characters completely infatuated with each other and at least finish in a stable relationship. Though I totally respect people enjoying the other stuff too! I can see how it would be fun to read.
I also like when typically strong characters are sweet and kind and vulnerable.
Also masculine women!! I love reading about masculine women. Obviously I like reading about neutral and feminine women too! But masculine women have a special little place in my heart π₯Ίπ
When it comes to more literary fiction I love to just jump fully into sadness. I like to feel all my raw emotions and just wallow in them with pretty purple prose and relatable characters.
I donβt know what this says about me either lol, but if I book is significantly gay, it already has a large part of my attention. I donβt like how gay has become a genre β¦β¦ but also I kind of treat it like that myself because I just look for gay stuff most of the time lololol.
Thank you for the fun question!! I hope you have a wonderful day βΊοΈπ
