Really excited to see what’s gonna happen in Realm of X. Illyana’s been a little directionless since she gave up Limbo, and I want to see her grappling with all the changes she’s gone through lately.

I will keep saying that Scott is a brother figure to Illyana not father figure‼️ Father, that's magneto. But Scott very obviously fills up Piotr's place because he didn't really know illyana as "the little snowflake" and so doesn't hold any judgment or standards towards her.

Colossus

Atticus and Colossus get along decently well. Initially Piotr was uncomfortable with his little snowflake dating, and was very willing to remind Atticus that if he didn't anything to hurt Illyana he would seriously hurt him.

They got over it eventually, and while they aren't besties or anything, they do look after each other in the way in-laws usually do. Notably, Atticus was one of the big supporters of getting Illyana to patch up her relationship with her brother after she tricked him into becoming the Juggernaut, and Piotr has a lot of left-over gratitude for it.

Magneto

Oh boy.

Atticus basically worshiped Magneto during his stint as headmaster of Xavier's School. After Atticus' mother was killed, while the other X-Men were telling him to relax or let it go, Erik came and told Atticus that his anger and hurt were real and important and mattered, and that while he couldn't go on a rampage and attack the Avengers, he could use the rage he felt for the good of Mutant-kind.

In Magneto Atticus found someone who understood just how unfair the world was to people who didn't deserve it, and found someone who was confident enough to take action to change things, a trait that a younger Atticus just didn't have. Even at 30, a lot of the way Atticus approaches mutant issues, heroics, and the other parts of his truly insane life is based on what he'd learned from Magneto at age 15, even if it occasionally makes him sound like a monster.

Unlike Storm, who had (and remains) a major adoptive familial role in Atticus' life, Erik has lost some of that luster. Atticus was openly judgemental and dismissive of Erik's actions during AvX and as part of Scott's revolutionary team, and took that disappointment to his grave when he died. Erik, justifiably, was upset that he had lost another of his New Mutants, and that they had died partially cursing his name.

On Krakoa Atticus melded these two visions of the man into one whole. He still looked up to Magneto, the man Erik was and could be, but is also aware that Erik the actual person is a deadbeat dad, a stubborn fool and is frequently willing to allow Xavier (a person Atticus likes far less) to manipulate and lie his way through governing a nation. Perhaps as he gets older Atticus has started to see plenty of Erik in himself as well.

Bonus thing: Atticus still finds himself mimicking Magneto's poses when he uses his powers. Can't teach and old dog new tricks, I suppose.

Illyana slammed the door shut to her room. A frustrated groan came out of mouth, flopping haphazardly on the bed. Lockheed made a noise at being disturbed but quieting down when he noticed that young Russia mutant was upset.

"Lockheed. You know how Piotr and I made up, or at least are trying to make up? Well that's all going to дерьмо."

Sitting up, she reached out and gave the little purple fire breather a pat on the head. The most recent mission involved a lot of Limbo and Piotr, the metal giant with a big heart, was starting to ask questions. Honestly she can't really blame him, she never said anything really about what happened there. What she went through and...and now there's questions dredging up terrible memories.

"Lock' I just don't know what to say. I get frustrated at him prying but I know I have to say so-"

She looked up startled as a couple of light bangs on the door rang out. She knows that knock anywhere. The same one alerted her when she was younger that she was not completely in trouble but her brother wanted to 'talk' things out.

Gritted teeth and clenched fists. Illyana chucked a pillow at the door. Yeah she could do some spell work to really make him go away, but she wasn't really angry at him. Right?

"Snowflake? I know you are there. I asked and Dani said you teleported here. Пожалуйста, впусти меня. Мы должны поговорить."

Silence. It felt like forever. Too long, too reminiscent of that place. Silent feet and cold fingers. The door is open revealing her brother in - in normal clothes for once. Annoyed huff was a that was given but there was a motion that he could step in. Ducking below the door frame, Piotr closed the door behind him and stood there awkwardly.

"May I sit?"

And there was a chair. He sat down and waited patiently. He was always patient with her. It was annoying. She wasn't a baby anymore.

"Snowflake I -"

"Stop. Я не хочу это слышать. Don't talk.

Do you know how painful it is to have you questioning things about Limbo?! Do you know what happened, what I went through?!"

She turned to look away from him. Tears hot in her eyes, streaming down her face.

"Let me tell you since you're so curious. It was hell, mind the pun. Do you know what Belasco did? He forced me to suffer. Day in and day out, I was made to kill those who lived in Limbo. I didn't also hate them, but I grew to see them as mere puppets. Just. Like. Him."

The wall seemed more interesting than whatever face her brother was making. All those years, but really minutes to everyone else, just slamming to the forefront of her mind.

"The spells. The torture. The 'learning'. I made a dead doll of you when I first was there. Had you read to me, just to feel normal. Sym...he - he was the worst. He was the real monster. Belasco just wanted a successor. Sym wanted an eternal bitch."

Finally she turned. Her cold Rasputin blues stared deeply at him. Matching but different. Very different now. She flexed her hand, soul sword appearing. Darkchylde taking form... reserved but ever present.

"It's so much worse. Words can't explain the pain and loneliness I went through."

Piotr reached out. Fingers barely brushing her arm, before she backed up.

"Snow- Illyana I didn't know. I tried - "

"YOU WEREN'T THERE. YOU DIDN'T SAVE ME.

I-I... survived on my own. I killed those men. 18 of them by myself to save myself. I am here because of me. Not you me. I know you are here and we are trying to grow closer again, but don't. Don't. Ever ask about Limbo again."

With that she snapped her fingers. The door to her room opened and Darkchylde was gone.

"Go. I just need time. I need time, again."

He leaves. And she's left there. Standing and staring. Lockheed who was quiet, flew to rest on her shoulder. Standing there, a year slips down her cheek. She remembers the cold halls of Limbo and its screams.

Illyana is already nicknamed "snowflake" in that comic, which for a Russian must sound like an Andalusian girl being called “my olivilla” [shrubby germander, an unremarkably common flowering plant in the region] or a Mexican girl “my frijolita” [little bean].

Illyana is lashing out at Colossus here because he refused to see that she was broken and needed help, and all he was doing was pretending she was still his innocent little snowflake. As harsh as what she did is, it was a giant plea for help, for actual compassion and acceptance instead of denial, and he wasn't capable of understanding at the time.

It was supposed to be an easy job, in and out, just like any other assignment. Suppressed shots of her glock rang out in the tiny abode. A child wailed from the next room loud enough to curdle her blood. 𝘚𝘩𝘪𝘵. The Widow thought. She hadn't checked on the kid a second time; when she arrived, she peered into the modest bedroom and saw her asleep in her bed. So she must have been awake the entire time.⠀⠀

"Мама! Папа!" 𝘔𝘢𝘮𝘢! 𝘗𝘢𝘱𝘢! The girl yells from her bed, her voice trembling. ⠀⠀

The Widow was silent, peering over the now-deceased farmers, watching their blood drip to the scattered Polaroid pictures below. They had tried to show her the pictures of their children and family gatherings; they even offered what little money they had so their assailant wouldn't kill them. But, in the end, the farmers were just another splotch of red in her ledger. ⠀⠀

That same red has trickled down over the pictures. She squats, looking over one in particular; blood had dripped heavily on it, but she could still see the smiling little girl in the white dress. The description below was still legible: Our little snowflake - December 24th, 2004. The Widow felt the sting of tears threaten to escape, but she did not allow herself to cry. Instead, she wiped the blood off the picture with a discarded cloth, folded it, and stuck it in the pocket of her shirt. ⠀⠀

She moved carefully through the hallway towards the girl's bedroom. This was stupid, highly out of protocol, and could fuck up the entire mission, but it was necessary. She just killed her parents, after all, and for what? Mother Russia. Green eyes spot the girl cowering in the corner of her room, hugging a floppy-eared gray rabbit. She tries to scamper back but realizes she can't go any further. She squeezes her eyes shut, trying to wish the red-headed woman away from her home.

The girl and the Widow sit talking about farm life, her toys, and her big superhero brother for the next ten minutes. All traces of fear leave the girl and are replaced with innocent naivety. Deep down, Natasha hoped the Madame had not planned to take her in. When her earpiece beeped, she knew it was time to go; clean-up and retrieval had arrived. ⠀⠀

Natasha brushed a strand of blonde hair from Illyana's brow. "Сейчас я должен идти. Я надеюсь увидеть тебя снова." 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘸. 𝘐 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯.⠀⠀

Inside its tinted windows and under the night's dark sky, she ushered the driver out and wept. Illyana didn't know that 'Miss Natasha' herself had been the one to kill her mama and papa. She didn't know how hard it was not just to take the young girl and run to spare her from whatever the government had planned. But it was an assignment, and the assignment must be completed no matter the emotions of the Widow.

Krampus au

N/A: Something short if we´re lucky and based on the idea Krampus punishes those who do or want to do wrong. Here, Logan wanted to kill Scott to get Jean as his lust for the woman went cray cray and well, it is time for Kitty to save his ass...again.

Is not often Kitty has time to enjoy the flowers, so to speak, and breaks like this-where nothing ever seems to happen and time moves slower- prove to Kittu that something big will happen. Lockheed was munching on a slice of pizza when Jubilee enters the office with a certain urgency in her face. And that expression alone proves to Kitty something big did happen and once again she must deal with it.

"Kitty, did...did Logan ever enter in contact with you?" Jubilee asked not beating the bushes and Kitty frowns for a moment and tries to recall the last time Logan called. Nothing comes to mind and she shakes her head as Lockheed is eating another big slice of pizza.

"Oh God!" she said in a nervous tone as her hands are moving in a pattern matching the tone as well. "Look, I was trying to see if he was alright and no one in the X-men saw him. No one in the Avengers saw him and ...I have no idea where he is" Jubilee confessed the last part feeling a bit of fear.

"Yeah, is not exactly his thing to worry everyone...let´s think the options, maybe he meets an old friend, and yes I´m using the term loosely here and is catching up with a said friend" Kitty quote and unquote her fingers on the word friend. Jubilee shakes her head now.

"No, it feels as if he dropped from the face of Earth...and if even the Avengers don´t know where he is...then...I doubt he´s catching up with a friend" Jubilee´s reply did make Kitty worry more.

"When was the last time you saw Logan?" Kitty asked not liking this question and having a feeling the answer will not be great, and once again, she´s correct on her gut feeling as Jubilee sighs in defeat.

"On Scott and Jean´s marriage..." Jubilee won´t give any unnecessary detail but this phrase does make Kitty shiver a little in cringe as she recalled Logan on that day and the man was anything but subtle on his "infatuation" for Jean Grey.

"Ok, I´ll take a look. Do you have the Alpha fight´s contact?" Kitty asked as she knows Logan sometimes likes to be true to his Canadian roots and be with other Canadians.

"Cap Canada? Yeah, not as nice as the country portrayed to be ...but, the man also has no idea where Logan is..." Jubilee replied not happy with the situation as to be expected. "me, Laura, and Chamber are worried Logan did something beyond his usual stupidity...You think Cap Canada is covering whatever happened?"

Kitty nods for a moment. "It wouldn´t be the first time and Cap Canada knows Logan longer than us"

Logan has two houses. One in the US and one in Canada, and both are identical to the point is almost an intentional joke. Almost. She´s visiting the one located in the US and noticed a few things on her arrival. First, the house looks completely wrecked from inside and outside, second, there´s no light in the house and third, his house has a concerning number of Jean Grey´s photos.

A flashlight and Lockheed on her shoulder make the situation less dire if only a little bit. The cabin truly looks wrecked and she notices how something gets inside and...take someone out. Sabertooth wouldn´t ever be this clean "It would have more blood here...instead of shatter glass" she mutters to herself.

She notices a photo of Jean where Scott should have been, instead, his part was cut by what Kitty use was claws. "again, it was not discreet" she mutters and has a concerning picture in her mind about Logan´s mental state.

She ponders if she should call to the Summers warning about the potential threat of Logan went after the couple-and this is a strong possibility given the number of Jean´s pictures- but for some reason decided against. "They´re in the honeymoon...and maybe Logan didn´t went...for this route" Kitty is speaking with Lockheed hoping to convince her more than her dragon companion.

Lockheed flies in direction of the broken window and points to Kitty the footprints. "Good job, Lockheed, maybe Logan didn´t go for that route after all" she responds pleased and Lockheed is not sharing the enthusiasm.

The footprints are strange. It only appears in one location-and Kitty search for more, but, without any success- and it seems whatever took Logan has a feet with 2 toes.

A snap was heard as Kitty took a photo of this footprint. "Ok, you think another Canadian Lovecraftian took him...again?" Kitty asked her friend who mutters in his dragon´s language and proves his lack of interest in Logan´s well being. "Yeah, you two never saw eye to eye"

Kitty shows the footprint to Illyana Rasputin and Jubilee - Illyana is on her hell witch´s mood and embraces all her demon side and dark powers as well ignoring her brother's complaint about her to return to be a snowflake- and both have a different reaction to this.

"So...a crypt took Logan, is that what you think? It wouldn´t be the first time..." Jubilee states reviving a few stories about Logan and the crypts in his life.

Yana stares at the image for a moment. "Wait, you said he had tons of images of Jean Grey? The woman he lust?" Yana asked as if she´s seeing a missing piece no one can see and this worries Jubilee and Kitty who nods as well...Logan was never subtle in his crush for Jean.

"And so to be clear...it was completely one-sided?" she asked again with a serious tone.

Jubilee and Kitty exchanges looks. Was one-sided? It certainly looks like it was, but, if Jean did 180 degrees and suddenly went to live with Logan...would be a plot twist no one could ever imagine.

"Look" Jubilee states trying to be as kind to the memory of her father figure as possible. "his crush on Jean was one-sided as it can get and I doubt a woman who married her fiance and is in honeymoon would suddenly change her mind and want another man...is Jean Grey, you remember how she was to pick a wedding dress? Yes, I doubt she is with Logan...I doubt she even knows or care Logan carries a torch for her" Jubilee completes.

"I think she knows...I think she knows and doesn´t care...Thought if she ignored him enough...maybe he would move on...and now, I´m not so sure if that was the best idea" Kitty interjected.

"It does not matter...it really doesn´t...Logan was taken by a Krampus"

"WHAT?"

"Creatures that punish the wick...originally, they´re from Germany and Austria, but, nothing prevents them to going after anyone who commits crimes and Logan...must have committed a serious crime if Krampus arrives here"

"And...what we do?"

"Well...if you want to save Logan...how well, do you, Kitty, handle the cold?" and this is a question that makes Jubilee makes tons of questions and rightfully so.

"Why Kitty?"

Yana blinks and explains. "I´m banned from entering his realm. No mortal can enter in his realm without being a victim and Kitty is the one who can enter because she can phase through dimensions" Yana explains and Jubilee sighs in defeat this explanation does make sense.

"And how do I get out?"

"Phashing...but the problem here is not to get in or get out....the problem is if Krampus will let you even see Logan"

Jubilee is not one to sit on any mission. "Look, if you can´t go...do you know someone that can open a portal for us or something? I don´t want to ''not'' rescue Logan...and I hate to feel useless...plus, if Kitty will face a Krampus, whatever that thing is, she´ll need firepower" Jubilee proves her point by letting her hands glow with her mutation.

"Krampus´s home is awfully cold, literally cold. I could try to make a portal...but then the portal would accept only 3 people. You, Kitty and Logan, and even that will still be too risky"

"I don´t care...I´m in"

"As Jubilee said. I´ll need all the firepower I can get"

"And all the luck too"

Yana is true to her word and created a portal for Krampus´s address and it was just like Yana predicted to be. "So...he torture people here? in this cozy and nice place?" Jubilee asked in a derived tone. "I can´t believe" she concludes in pure sarcasm.

"Yeah...and it seems he´s a fan of cliches because of the creepy looking mountain appears to be looking at them. Yana said he only punishes the wicked and leaves the innocent in peace, so, Kitty and Jubilee have a chance. Small as it can be is still a chance.

A number of glowing golden eyes watched her for a minute and then vanish like it was never there. "Man, why Logan couldn´t move on like a normal person" Kitty chided his poor choices and Jubilee is not defending the man this time.

Locate Logan, once climbing this creepy and cartoonish mountain, was not a daunting task. The man is tied up by chains and shackles and is conscious enough to see Kitty and Jubilee coming to his way. "NO, he´s behind you!"

And Kitty appears to be prepared as she used the soulsword and faces the Krampus as Jubilee goes to Logan in the hopes of freeing him. The Krampus is a blue man-with horns, his fur is noticeable, his golden eyes are full of mischief and his tail makes it present to Kitty- who is amused at her attempt.

"Ah, Kitty Pryde and Jubilee Lee. Here to steal my criminal?" The Krampus states. "have they told you what he planned to do? Kill an innocent man and take the woman as his prize" and this makes Jubilee stop and look at Logan with total disappointment.

Kitty can´t hide her feelings too. "We´re not here to steal anything...we´re here to make a deal with you, Krampus"

The Krampus looks amused. "Kurt, my name is Kurt...call me Kurt would be like me calling you human"

"No one mentioned...ok, hi, Kurt...we´re here..." and Kurt waves off his hand.

"To make a deal...sure, sure. What you and your friend can offer to make me want to let Logan go?"

"Work for you until his sentence is clean" Kitty speaks as Jubilee sighs and nods not happy with any of this and makes Logan be aware of their feelings. The man, for once, looks ashamed for himself.

"Oh...that is new. The council always says for me to take more deals" Kurt mutters to himself. "I take Magik explains how I work, right?" the two women nod. "excellent" his now good mood and chipper tone are a bit unsettling. "is a deal. You two work for me for a year and after that...I release Logan...a deal is a deal and is sacred for my kind"

The man- she has a hard time calling Kurt IT if he acts and looks so humane-smiles and shakes her hand. The deal is sealed and really, Kitty and Jubilee have things to say to Logan.

{ Backstory }

At six years of age, Illyana was separated from her brothers and fellow X-Men by the Demon Sorceror himself, Belasco, who trapped her in Limbo to be his apprentice after Kitty could no longer hold on to Illyana’s arm, releasing her to Belasco who transformed her soul into a Bloodstone, grooming her for great power at his side by claiming that he loved her while also sending his loyal demon companion, S’ym, to torture her (whom she eventually bests and forces to become her loyal servant). Rescued by alternate versions of Storm and Kitty (Cat), Illyana was taught to control her magic for good by Storm and instructed in combat by Cat. 

After defeating Belasco, Illyana returned to Earth mere seconds after Kitty released her, aging seven years in her captivity, now the same age as Kitty who became her closest friend and roommate at the Charles Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. She eventually joined the New Mutants to train in the Danger Room where she learned her powers are weakened on Earth, choosing to expand her abilities through practice under the tutelage of individuals such as Charles Xavier and Doctor Strange.

Eventually, she returned to Demonic Limbo, or “Otherplace,” to claim her rightful place as Sorceress Supreme, becoming an entity to oversee the demons and ensure balance.

In search of Kitty and Piotr, Illyana tracked them through Limbo to New York City, becoming ensnared by the power of the Infinity Stones, damning her to yet another prison. 

Over the years, the temporary deaths of her friends and family sent her spiraling in and out of her accursed demon-form, wreaking havoc wherever she lay her wrath. She swore this place, the innocent people within the dome would never be burdened by her true-form. Taking inspiration from Ororo, Illyana now tends to her own personal community garden, inviting anyone and everyone to gather what they need. She also offers assistance in the magical realm, small spells available to those who ask kindly for the help of the local witch. Just visit her in her long-worn apartment building, now reduced to a two-story, four-room corner of it’s former-self. Before she’d arrived, it had been a concrete slab, now teeming with extraordinary life, vines and flowers draped from the bare-bones.

She still frets over what will happen in Limbo without her watchful eyes, but she hopes her power has frightened the demons into enough submission, never daring to challenge her, staving them from terrorizing the rest of the Universe.

1: Who spends almost all their money on the other?Probably Colossus, though they both end up pooling their money together a lot of the time to buy Venom a lot of chocolate delicacies to keep him happy. Nina usually spends a good chunk on surprising Piotr with art supplies which end up costing a pretty penny, while he swears up and down that he has to be the gentleman and pay for their dinner dates despite her being stubborn and wanting to help. 2: Who sleeps in the other’s lap?Nina usually, but it depends on the time. Colossus is far too large to sit in her lap (despite her brave offerings), but catch him trying to stay up late at night with Nina sitting in his lap and he'll end up resting his head against hers as he finally gives in to rest. Nina on the other hand will often curl up against him while he's reading in the daytime and rest her head against his chest so she can listen to his heartbeat (she always gets a giggle out of it because it beats a little faster when he realizes this).3: Who walks around the house half-naked and who yells at them to put on some clothes?You guessed Nina and you were RIGHT. She's shy about her ink covered hands and some battle scars but that won't stop her from revealing the goods under the clothes (especially on hot summer days). She usually relies on Venom to transform into her clothes so on days that she's no longer his host or she's running late and forgets Colossus is ready to scoop her up and drag her back into their room or home to make her put on some clothes (but not before she tempts him back to bed for some fun).4: Which one tells the other not to stay up all night and which one stays up all night anyway?Nina is very much the night owl in the relationship while Colossus is the old man and calls her before bed to tell her not to stay up too late. This unfortunately goes in one ear and out the other as the night is when she fights crime the most and also when she works on her college studies because she procrastinates until the very last minute. On nights that she's working extra hard he'll often wake up to find her passed out on the couch to which he gently wakes her up with coffee and a kiss so she's not completely dead during the daytime.5: Which one tries to make food for the other but burns it all by accident and which one tells them that it’s okay and makes them both cookies?Colossus is definitely the better cook of the two, but damn if Nina doesn't try. With two parents who often cooked their meals together Nina likes to think she can do the same but usually ends up messing up burning the dish because she gets distracted by one thing or another (ie Wade calling to dish the deets on his latest murder fest). This results in Colossus usually shaking his head and preparing a nice dish for them instead if he's got the time. If not they usually settle for takeout somewhere and laugh over it.6: Which one reads OTP prompts and says “Oh that’s us!” and which one goes “Eh, not really”?Colossus doesn't usually spend a lot of time on the internet so when Nina sends him one and goes 'This is us!' he usually has to have to explain it so it makes sense sdsjgksk7: Which one constantly wears the other’s clothes?Nina, hands down. Even though the size difference is LORGE she loves wearing his hoodies out and his shirts to bed. Colossus never complains though, because seeing her in his clothes turns him into the goofiest little lovebug because she looks so darn cute in them. As a result his wardrobe suffers quite a bit because of this. He tried to turn the tables once by wearing one of her shirts and needless to say Nina calling him the Hulk for a short while after was entirely justified. 8: Which one spends all day running errands and which one says “You remembered [thing], right?”Nina will usually run errands for Colossus due to his hectic schedule at the mansion (and inability NOT to take forever when reading the nutrient labels), which he appreciates but often has to send her reminders because she's so forgetful when in a hurry. In the end she still manages to forget SOMETHING and they end up taking a more leisure trip later on to retrieve the items.9: Which one drives the car and which one gives them directions?Due to Colossus' size he's usually forced into the passenger or backseat, so Nina is the driver most of the time. They tend to bicker when she's at the wheel because she goes a little too fast and he's worried she'll get pulled over, but also because Colossus will slip into Russian if he doesn't know the proper english term for some signals which leads to chaos. He tries his best though and she appreciates his navigation for that.10: Which one does the posing while the other one draws?They both take usually take turns since they enjoy drawing and painting, Nina a little more though due to her class projects. He's usually a bit shy about the whole thing because Nina has a permanent mischevious smile on her face when he's posing. Colossus often rolls his eyes and chuckles when she poses for him because every time he looks back she's making a new pose/face to surprise him with.11: If they were about to rob a museum, which one does backflips through lasers and which one is strolling behind with a bag of chips?Nina's definitely the one to be a super sleuth through the lasers while Colossus waits in the wings because he's 100% not for this idea and was dragged along to be the brawn if need be.Let's be real though she absolutely trips the wire after being smug and saying they wouldn't have any issues pop up during the heist.12: Which one of your OTP overdoes it on the alcohol and which one makes the other stop drinking?Due to being Venoms host Nina has an incredible alcohol tolerance so she can outdrink a fair number of her peers, including Colossus. She usually has to stop him from drinking too much at the end of the night because he turns into a big loveable lush that is hard to control (though it'd be a lie to say she didn't love the PDA he gives while sloshed). By the time the morning rolls around Colossus swears off drinking for a long time while Nina spends the morning showering him in water, aspirin and a big greasy breakfast to help soak up the booze while recounting all the crazy night events.13: Which one likes to surprise the other with a lot of small random gifts?They both do! Colossus usually buys some type of flower or fancy chocolate for Nina when he's out and about, or a trinket from wherever his last mission takes him while Nina usually scours old record stores to look for Neil Diamond vinyls or paintbrushes while out restocking her own inventory. They both usually try to surprise one another with coffee at least once a week and eventually decided to make it a usual thing so they could have a small date on the go.14: Which one keeps accidentally using the other’s last name instead of their own?They usually don't have an issue using the other's name unless its something like one of them being in the hospital and needing spouse visitation. Nina will sometimes tease Colossus by calling herself 'one of the Rasputins' as a joke but it just makes Colossus want it to become a reality even more every time she does.15: Which one screams about the spider and which one brings the spider outside?Colossus usually is the hero of the day and will take the spider outside while Nina screams blood murder and will launch herself against the wall in an attempt to get away from it. Piotr usually is quick to call out the irony in her being scared because she has spider senses due to Venom sdgjskjs16: Which one gives the other their jacket?Colossus. Nina hates being cold so he always ends up wearing one on their outtings just in case she starts feeling chilly. This usually gives him a good laugh because she disappears in his jackets due to how much bigger he is.17: Who keeps getting threatened by the other’s overprotective older sibling?Illyana often goes between being Colossus' little snowflake and debating on whether to sell his soul for a cornchip and Nina's 'sister' is a retired assassin who would gladly go out of retirement if someone even looked at her the wrong way, so I would say Ania.18: Who’s the first one to admit they have feelings for the other?OHO BOY. The setup for this is going to be an absolute hoot, all I will say is that it's Nina and she does it after Venom gets fed up with her pining over him so hard that he literally does the big 'Fuck It' moment. She's had feelings for him since she first saw him at an interview after Russell is taken in for the Ice Box so it's been a long time coming. Colossus on the other hand only realizes his feelings after she almost dies and it grows into this big ugly crush. She laughs at something? There's that familiar knot in his stomach. A smile? His feet suddenly don't work so well. And literally everyone BUT Nina notices how strange he's beginning to act kgfjkdgd19: How good would your OTP be at parenting?Definitely a bit rocky at first but power parents fo sho. Nina is high key nervous about being a parent because she's not very fond of children, but Colossus reassures her that they can overcome anything together and dotes on her constantly to make sure she's comfortable. They work together to make sure the baby room is painted with little animal murals and spend nights singing russian and french lullabies to her belly before bed.When the baby actually arrives? Nina turns into a full momma bear and would gladly kill everyone in the room and then herself if anything happened to their child. Colossus is the proudest papa in the world and basically turns into Hughes from FMA where he carries a dozen photos of their child in his wallet to dish out whenever someone even looks in his general direction. All in all they work hard to help one another out to make sure they're not both zombies but also that their little detka is happy and healthy.20: Which one types with perfect grammar and which one types using numbers as letters?Although he's usually proper with his english vocally, Colossus is definitely the one to type with numbers as letters and shortens what he can when texting because he struggles to use anything that isn't a beeper. Nina suffers greatly because of this.21: Who gets attacked by a bully and who protects them?Nina is usually the one getting bullied by bigger/stronger enemies on missions and Colossus is always quick to come to her side to protect her. He usually teases that HE should be named Knight instead of her because of this, but she's quick to get up and repay the favor to him for his heroic efforts. There ARE some instances where the tables are turned though and she's able to save Colossus from bullies, and she usually demands a 'victory kiss' in repayment after pbppbt.22: Who makes the bad puns and who makes a pained smile every time the other makes a pun?Colossus is definitely the one to make the bad puns while Nina attempts to smile at it and fails every time. But she tries, good god does she try.23: Who comes home from work to see that the other one bought a puppy?Colossus pbpbpt. He comes home to a lot of little surprises and is often thinking 'what will I come home to today' because of this, so he's pleasantly surprised when he comes home one day and a puppies head pops out of Ninas hoodie to greet him at the door. 24: Which one gives the other a piggyback ride when they’re tired?Colossus sjdgks Piggybacks aren't uncommon between the two. Nina uses her spider grip to climb up his back on many occasions and sit on his shoulders, especially during briefings before missions and after the more difficult missions. While he thinks it's a bit silly Colossus doesn't mind because he enjoys feeling her wrap her arms wrapped around him.25: Which one competes in some sort of activity and which one does the overzealous cheering?Nina is usually the overzealous cheerer when it comes to Colossus getting into fights on missions that they're on together. Showdown between Colossus and Juggernaut? You bet she's on the sidelines rooting for him to kick him in the balls. He says he doesn't mind it but it DOES make him very bashful after.26: Who takes a selfie when the other one falls asleep on their shoulder?Nina. She's big on taking photos as mementos and this situation is no different and loves catching little moments like him sleeping or painting unawares to look at later when they're far away from one another. 27: Which one would give the other a makeover if they asked?Nina. Colossus has a fairly bland wardrobe so getting a request like that isn't farfetched for her, and although he hates going shopping for new clothes (hence the scarce variety) he trusts her to pick a few good outfits for future date nights and the like, which she definitely does no problem along with some ~special~ intimates that he has to model off for her later in the night.28: Which one owns a pet that the other is absolutely terrified of?HEHEHE. Venom technically isn't a pet but Nina often coddles him like one and Colossus is absolutely mortified by him for a very long time. Between finding out that he enjoys eating people and seeing the level of madness he can create when paired with the wrong host he thinks that the sassy little symbiote is a ticking time bomb with Nina until they bond over how much they both care for her. He eventually realizes he's not SO bad and sneaks chocolate to him at night when Nina is sleeping to keep him content.29: Which one holds the umbrella over both of them when it rains?Colossus. Nina tried once but she was much too short for her attempts and they both got soaked in the process. Now Colossus keeps her close in one arm while holding the umbrella in the other.30: If your OTP went on vacation, where would they go and what would they do? Who would take the pictures?It's a toss-up! They both have their own designated places they want to take the other. Colossus wants to take Nina to Russia to visit his homeland while Nina wants to take Colossus to Paris to introduce him to her French relatives and childhood. Since Colossus' family farm is in ruins due to his family passing, they pay their respects and then go sight-seeing around Moscow and the local art museums.In Paris they would visit her grandmother and relatives who instantly go nuts over Piotr like he was one of their own and they give them a grand tour of the area and special sights. Piotr definitely surprises her (because we all know he would pull this type of thing) and splurges to get a hotel room that overlooks the city and Eiffel Tower because she wants to be extra romantic and boy howdy does it w o r k. They would probably both take pictures. Nina would take most of the scenic pictures and catching Piotr admiring the artwork while Piotr would be in charge of taking selfies because of how tall he is sgjdskgs

Now that I’m home I can actually ramble about tattoo artist au, and the most important part of this au is that Piotr lets his loved ones and close friends design a tattoo for him and if they’re capable he’ll even let them tattoo it on him. The first tattoo from a loved one was from his little sister Illyana-- she drew him a snowflake so that while they where apart his little snowflake would always be with him.

When Illyana and Atticus got together back at Xavier's, she absolutely refused to acknowledge it or tell anyone else about it (except Kitty, who worked it out through sheer intuition).

This means that for months, the other New Mutants would find Illyana "lost" conveniently near Atticus' room. It got even more 'convenient' when he'd get sick or injured, since she'd be parked outside all night, but still adamantly declare she was only "making sure the idiot wasn't dead".

The other New Mutants (and Piotr) only found out when Illyana got upset that he was talking to someone else and threatened them with a swift trip to limbo of they ever talked to her boyfriend again. The others have never let her live it down, and Piotr spent the rest of that week glaring at Atticus (including a strongly worded letter where he threatened to split Atticus in two if he made Piotr's little snowflake upset).

I hope you will understand why I must do this. I have battled living islands. I have fought Sentinels whose sole purpose was to kill mutants. I have helped to save the universe, more than once. I have done all this and more and yet the hardest thing I have ever done was watch helplessly as my sister's life was taken by the Legacy Virus. Someday, there may be a cure that does not require a sacrifice. Someday, the violence will end. Someday... children like Illyana will not be victims of a war they are not a part of. But I cannot stand by for even one hour knowing somewhere, someone else's little sister is dying from this disease. Snowflake. I am coming home.

Snowflake Challenge, Day 8

In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

For this one, I’m going old school. It’s not a current fandom for me, in that I don’t write for it, and I’m so lost on what’s current in comics that I don’t read for it. But in the 80s, when I was growing up, I was a complete Marvel fangirl, and more importantly, I was an X-Men fangirl.

I read comics as a teenager, but I started with the indies. I read Elfquest and Cerebus, and I thought I was somehow beyond the four color worlds of Marvel and DC. But a friend convinced me to try Alpha Flight, and that started to pull me in. Then I read X-Men Annual 7.

Basically, the premise of this annual (and I’m pretty sure it was #7, and I say that as someone with the worst swiss cheese memory ever), was that the team was dealing with an alien on a scavenger hunt. So it’s funny, and off-kilter, and a little silly, and they’re chasing after this alien.

And there’s this scene with Kitty Pryde. She phases through a couples’ bedroom (while they’re in bed) and she essentially apologizes and tells the whole story as she does so. And these word balloons are EPIC. There are no spaces, and so many words, implying in text that Kitty is that teenager girl who is blurting everything out in one long rush while she’s trying to get somewhere and do something, and she’s all embarrassed but excited at the same time.

I may have fallen a little in love.

I wanted to know her. To be her. In so many ways--as a smart kid who often felt alienated by those around me--I felt like I was her. This scene--this one scene that etched itself on my mind--endeared me to the X-Men so thoroughly that I decided to collect everything from Kitty’s first appearance onward.

Because of that scene, I found something that helped me get through high school. I found a character to identify with, to love. Someone who was smart, and confused about life, and felt a little awkward. Because of Kitty, I also found Illyana, and then the New Mutants, and it all made high school better. Because of Kitty, I found the crossover with the Teen Titans, and then I found Gar (honestly, Gar and Kitty chattering at each other was the best ever). 

But it’s all because of this one, wonderful scene, where in my fifteen year old mine, that creator GOT me. I was understood, and I was there on paper, and it felt good.
