went to the park at 5 am to see the sunrise

but it's the city, so no visible horizon = no sunrise

I caught some precious birds on camera, but apparently it malfunctioned because no quality videos on it :(

A couple weeks ago I found a male red breasted grossbeak hopping along my yard with an injured wing, we watched him for a week climbing up smaller trees and bushes for the night so he wouldn't have to worry about predators, and he actually recovered very well! He had a female grossbeak that seemed very buddy buddy with him the whole time and he's been flying really well (although I can always spot him because he still has trouble being precise in his landings)

Today while observing the red breasted grossbeaks i noticed the underside of the female that liked to hang out with the previously injured males wing was red, and it seemed odd to me because I had never noticed that before. Turns out upon closer inspection that this is an example of gynadromorphism! I haven't caught a picture just yet but Google dosent dissapoint

currently in the process of thinking about emmanuel making snow angels. about emmanuel standing outside in one spot in a dark coat with arms stretched outward in front of himself so he can watch as snowflakes fall upon them and show off their wonderful shapes. about emmanuel with his tea that puts steam in his face when he opens his thermos. about emmanuel going for long walks in the snow and returning home with little ice crystals frozen to his hair.

That’s hilarious because I was researching this very recently. THESE DUMBASS MOTHERFUCKERS CANT WALK, HOP, OR BOUNCE LOL EVERYONE POINT AND LAUGH. They use their legs to perch… and that’s it. Their feet are usually tucked away in their wings for better aerodynamics. But there’s a redemption arc! Unlike other birds, they can’t use their legs to push off into flight, so they use the sheer power of the wings to launch, which is actually kinda cool.

guys ive been trying to get into birds lately. bc I wanna learn what the common birds I see outside in the yard are right. i even checked out 2 books from the library abt them (even tho google has so far been the best resource sdhkfjkh im TRYING) and GUESS WHAT. I went outside to sit and watch them and instead of JUST BIRDS i saw two lil chipmunks AND. a BNUNY!!! (i've been seeing this bunny for a While when ive been walking my dog, but I always have seen it at night and could never get a decent picture before now)
