Lol, I've been having so much fun just telling Bard to do LF and Varys convos!
Littlefinger: Did you see that episode of Friends where Ross and Rachel were on a break?
Varys: Yes.
Littlefinger: What did you think?
Varys: I thought it was ridiculous.
Littlefinger: I know, right? How can you be on a break and still sleep with someone else?
Varys: I don't know. Maybe they have a different definition of "break" than I do.
Littlefinger: Or maybe they're just terrible people.
Varys: Maybe.
Littlefinger: I mean, come on. They've been dating for years, and they can't even go a few hours without sleeping with other people?
Varys: It's pretty pathetic.
Littlefinger: It really is.
Varys: I don't know how they're going to come back from this.
Littlefinger: Me neither. But I'm sure it's going to be entertaining.
Varys: I'm sure it will.
Littlefinger and Varys laugh.

hiii i love asoiaf too but can i ask how you deal with grrms weird writing of unnecessarily pedophilic relationships (also saying that drogo and dany was consenual???)
they are part of the explorations of misogyny inherent in the feudal/progenitor system. when it comes to GRRM saying Dany/Drogo is consensual, I see people say he said that but I haven’t seen when or where he said this. That’s not to say he didn’t, but I do wonder the context. I could imagine he isn’t saying “consensual” from a feminist understanding, rather a casual understanding of the word (like most people), that Dany is making a choice to survive her circumstances and finds agency within that life, and believes she loves Drogo. Perhaps that’s a charitable read, but I don’t find GRRM is unaware of Dany’s situation from the text itself. It is constantly framed around the idea that Dany was a slave and sold as a slave, it isn’t until Dany learns the power balance has switched between her and Viserys (her first sexual predator) that she “decides” to be in love with Drogo and “enjoy” sex with him. We learn her story from her point of view, but GRRM does employ an omniscient narrator at times to juxtapose the perceptions of the characters with the reality. For example, Dany thinks she’s “like a child” “as if she was a child” a lot once she decides to not be a slave (she still is, but she’s deciding to not perceive it that way), but GRRM reminds us when she becomes pregnant that “It was her fourteenth name day.” I think these writing choices are intentional, because GRRM is not interested in moralizing within the text. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a moral POV, but he doesn’t want to write this story in a way that tells you the reader what you should think. I think he trusts that the reader should see thinks like Castor’s Keep, Jamie and Cersei’s relationship, Jorah’s obsessions with Dany and Litterfinger’s obsessions with Sansa, Tyrion’s “whoring” and murders…etc. as immoral, so he doesn’t want to pontificate about it. He’s much more interested in the fact that all these characters are still human.
Ultimately, both Viserys and Drogo die from their machismo, and Dany gets to flourish without them and not until then. It isn’t until her next marriage, a very political one, that her power is in threat again. Take this story in concert with the fact that women in Westeros are treated as political property to be married off (which is based on, you know, history), perhaps GRRM is saying something about women and marriage. Maybe :)

#64: “Talk to me.”
Pairing: SanSan
Rating: T
Warning: description of injury
If there was one thing Sandor hated feeling above all else, it was impotence. Not being able to do something was a horrible feeling and one he didn’t handle well. Before, back in Kings Landing, when he was forced to sit back and watch as a sweet, innocent girl was beaten and humiliated, he’d turned to wine and anger to help deal with it.
It had been a long while since he’d tasted wine and anger now took longer to overwhelm him. When he’d heard of Litterfinger taking over in the Vale and his wife’s mysterious death and the sudden appearance of a beloved bastard daughter that no one had ever heard of before, something rang suspicious to him. Given what the Elder Brother had told him of the big blond lady knight and hearing of the so-called bastards age, something in his gut told him it was something worth checking out.
Sansa Stark was easy enough to recognize even with her brown hair and fake name. He was as equally recognizable to her as she was to him. Together they planned to over throw Baelish with his own lies and deceit. After, with Baelish’s head no longer attached to his shoulders, they started North with the support of the Knights of the Vale. It was on the road that it happened. Sansa wasn’t the best of riders, and with the ice and snow, her horse lost it’s footing. She’d gone down, the horse falling to its side and crushing her leg. Camp had been hastily set up and Sandor carried a still crying Sansa into the maester’s tent. After laying her on the cot, he stepped back to let the maester do his work, which would involve forcing her out of place hip back into place.
“Ser, will you hold her hands and keep her still?” the maester asked and Sandor didn’t even spare the breath to tell him he was no Ser. He just crouched down next to Sansa and gathered up her hands in his, leaning his upper body over hers so that she couldn’t see what the maester was doing and also to help keep her steady. The sight of her pretty face drawn in pain, of tears streaking down her cheeks while she writhed under him made him feel more helpless and impotent than he’d ever felt.
“What can I do, little bird?” he asked loudly, not looking back as the maester lifted her skirts so that he could reach her leg.
“Talk to me.” She panted, blue eyes opened wide and her hands gripping his tightly. “Please, just…” she stopped to cry out when the maester moved her leg in a painful way. “Talk to me. Take my mind off it.”
Sandor froze for a moment, not knowing what to talk about at all. But if this was something he could do to help her, no matter how small, he would damn well try.
“Winterfell.” He said the first thing that came to mind. “We’re going to take back Winterfell.”
At that Sansa nodded, sweat forming on her brow despite the cold. “Home.”
“Yes, girl. I’m going to take you home and kill every man who tries to stand in our way. I’ll empty out every Bolton bastard and Ironborn cunt that doesn’t belong there.”
A laugh bubbled up from her throat, but it was quickly cut off by a shout of pain as the maester started jerking more incessantly on her leg.
“And we’ll find your wolf of a sister and together the two of you will run the North and do a damn fine job of it.”
“Arya.” Sansa whispered the name, eyes closing as she breathed deeply through her nose. “What else?”
“You’ll be the perfect lady you were always meant to be and you can sit in overstuffed chairs and sleep in warm feather beds and you will be your own woman. No one will ever hold sway over you again.”
“This is going to be the worst part.” The maester warned and Sandor glanced back to see that he had Sansa’s ankle lifted onto his shoulder with her knee bent. He knew what was coming. He was going to use his own body weight to shove her leg forward and then slam it to the side so the ball of her hip snapped back into the pocket it was supposed to be in.
Sansa’s eyes flew open wide and she clutched at his hands so tightly he could no longer feel the tips of his fingers. She was starting to hyperventilate, but Sandor shifted more onto her chest so that he filled her vision.
“Listen, listen to me. We’re going to get you home and I’ll keep you safe for the rest of your life. You’ll never have to ride a horse or leave your home or fight off unwanted advances again. I’ll make sure you have lemon cakes every day and…”
The maester dropped forward and Sansa sucked in a deep breath, then screamed out in pain as he slammed her leg to the side. Even above that noise, Sandor heard the pop of her hip going back into socket.
“There.” He grasped her chin and brought her face back round to look at him. “It’s over, little bird. It’s over now.”
Sansa, still panting and with tears streaming down her temples, nodded. “What else?”
“Nothing.” He assured her. “It’s done. Something for the pain, perhaps, and it’ll be sore but we’re done.”
“No.” she shook her head, eyes blinking heavily. “What else will happen when we get to Winterfell? Will you stay and share those lemon cakes with me?”
Sandor chuckled a little. Poor girl was a bit delirious with pain.
“I don’t like lemon cakes.” He told her. “But I will stay, for as long as you need me to.”
The maester interrupted before Sansa spoke and came around with a glass of milky water. “Here, My Lady.” He passed her the glass and Sandor was forced to put a more respectable distance between them. Sansa took the glass and drained it with a wince at the taste. Sandor took the glass from her and the maester instructed her to keep as still as she could for a while and then left them.
“Sandor.” She whispered his name with a bit of a slur, a hand flopping out to the side. Sandor stepped closer and went to his good knee beside her.
“I’m here.”
“I want you to stay.” She blinked glazed eyes at him before they shut and she didn’t open them again. “Forever.” She breathed the last word and Sandor didn’t think she really knew what she was saying. But he would stay, until she asked him to go. And he would continue doing whatever he could to make things easier on her.

I think the thing that is so relatable about Ned is his experience is that of an autistic person dealing with nerotypicals.
so when Ned tells Litterfinger he has men he can trust and Littlefinger is all "you shouldn't." it's bc Littlefinger lives in the nerotypical world where you say things with hidden meanings and you play mind games but the culture of the North is literally just saying what you mean.

As I read a Clash of Kings, I realize that the most powerful thing about this book is gaining access to Arya's psychology. She starts out homeless in King's Landing & you get a first hand account of what life is in the starving capital during war & politically unstable times.
You see her travel by road through Riverlands which were raided, destroyed & burnt, innocents caught in the crossfire of Stark-Lannister drama just because Catelyn got played by Litterfinger & kidnaps Tyrion & Tywin was too ruthless & played dirty by raiding the Riverlands to scatter their forces. It's so easy to get caught up in the drama of these lords that it's difficult to imagine that the lives of common people were destroyed to the limit that they started missing the Mad King! Simply because during his reign there was no war. It's heartbreaking to watch a child's innocent perception tainted, how she starts calling herself a sheep and agonies herself about deluding herself about being a wolf or a warrior.
Worst of all, is when she ends up in a concentration camp like situation. Her mental state when prisoners are dehumanised & picked one at a time randomly to die. The aftermath of being treated like an abused slave who gets beat up & threatened daily gets to her to the point that she starts calling herself a scared little mouse. You really get a sense of why she gives the names of the two people most abusive to her & later realizes that she could have named someone important like Tywin or Joffery to be killed when she has only one name left.
All of this is what enriched the experience for me while reading the book compared to S02 where "Who should win the game of thrones" seemed like a game where the cost of war just wasn't real enough. Seriously at this point I'm rooting for no King, not even a little bit! Arya is hands down the MVP for this book & I'm glad this arc made this game of highborns so much more real. It's really heartbreaking but I love how deeply I got to understand my lil gal!

Game Of Thrones 7x04 spoilers
Omg... I think this is the best episode so far. We have reunions, hugs and armies and dragons and wow, I love it!
Spoilers under the cut [from my twitter with explanations]
Bran scaring Littlefinger with only "chaos is a ladder" - yeah the Litterfinger tries to bribe Bran with his valyrian steel dagger but Bran couldn’t care less. Even tho it’s the one that they tried to kill Bran with. go figure.
Ice zombie? Please. Bran is the most zombiest of them all. - seriously, he’s so cold. Meera came to say goodbye to him bc she was leaving to be reunited with her family before White Walkers come... And Bran was like ‘yes. thank you’ and nada. So freaking cold.
Arya the walking version of "like a boss" Stark - i have no idea why i was surprised that the guards didn’t want to let her pass (why they let bran episdoe earlier???) but finally they did but she was left them quite quickly. they went to Sana to tell her that someone claimed to by Arya and repeated what she said and Sansa knew where she went... Stark sisters are breaking my heart.
WHY SANSA AND ARYA REUNION MUST BE SO DARK I CAN'T SEE SHIT AND I'M ALREADY CRYING - Arya went to see their father’s statue. they joked and it was awkward but we got two hugs and it was beautiful.
seriously someone send a raven to jon to let him know THAT HE'S FAVOURITE LITTLE SISTER CAME BACK HOME
I'll bet that while Arya talks about her list Sansa thinks how fucked up it is that Jon is the most normal of her sibiligs and he died. #GoT - yup. her little brother is a three-eyed raven... her sistser has a list with names of people she wants to kill??? wtf... how jon is normal one, he was brought back to life, lol
ohhhh i didn’t tweet about it but there was Bran and Arya’s reunion and it was still awkward, but it left Sansa reaffirming the weirdness of their younger sibilings and it left Arya with valyrian steel dagger
Brienne seeing the Stark's girls... Home. With their brother... I'm not crying, you crying
Can you believe that my daughter Arya Stark is the best swordsperson in all Seven Kingdoms? - she interrupted Brienne and Pod’s lesson. Persuade her to fight with her and it was amazing! Also Sana and Littlefinger watched and while Sansa was a bit unsure/confused, I think Littlefinger realized he needs to watch out for Arya but he also looked like he had some another evil plan
FROM ALL THE REUNIONS I WANTED I WAS NO EXPECTING SNOW AND GREYJOY REUNION KILLLL MEEE - Still mad Jon didn’t punch Theon, but fiiiine
I missed Bronn
The Dothraki army riding to kill Lannister's? Yes. Please! just don't kill Jaimie nor Bronn, ok? thanks
OMG DRAGNONS DRAGONS DANY IS ON THE DRAGON IM CRYING - the whole scene of Dothraki and then Dany coming is a masterpiece
You know it's all going shitty when Bronn leaves the gold
Bronn I love you but you fucker don't you dare kill my dragons - Lannisters had that big ass machine to kill the dragon :/
okay but like... how they all got to Highgarden but Jon still have no raven from Winterfell?? - Tyrion was watching the battle from afar
JAIME YOU FUCKING IDIOT THAT'S WHY EVERYONE THINKS YOU ARE THE STUPIDEST LANNISTER - yeah, so Dany and her dragon landed and she tried to take out the arrow from it’s side, Jaime took it chance and tried to kill Dany. The Dragon turned just in time to burn him but Bronn tackled him into water
THE END

Litterfinger deserved a better executed death
lol. anyway... I believe the bullshit sister stark bowl was being played straight by Sansa and Arya (aka Arya really did threaten Sansa for realsies and not for show) until Littlefinger finally played his last game with Sansa and she pieces together Littlefinger’s motives.
While I like the poetic justice to all of the remaining Starks doing it, the journey to that moment matters—hell it is essential or that moment just feels cheap and unearned. I think Littlefinger should have died earlier in the season—at least without notice or little to no notice. Drawing it out made it out, in the convoluted manner just made us relieved the storyline was over—not vindicated.
The writers were so focused on misdirecting the audience to the detriment of its characters instead of working to misdirect Littlefinger. Littlefinger should have felt he was winning or had won (maybe Sansa had just consented to marriage or the siblings appeared to be fighting<----we needed to see Littlefinger seeing them fight!) only for him to be killed at the moment when all his dreams seem to come true.
Think of it him dressing for his wedding to Sansa, but instead of a wedding he finds a court in front of the wierwood tree. Idk, just one of several ideas.
What are your headcanons? How would you have rewritten his death to be more satisfying?

I thought Littlefinger being accused was gonna play out like his betrayal to Ned. Imagine it... Litterfinger tries to walk out in mock indignation and Arya comes up behind him and puts the valyrian dagger to his throat...SHIT.
