work and play and pixie dust combined in an epic night of celebration at the new @bushwickstarr last week.

and in the theme of that combo, we shared a few songs from @litpic, @kellytieger and my musical *Animal Magnetism*, featuring performances by the incomparable #jonathangroff and vocal genius @therealkuhoo (getting to sing with both of them sent me over the edge im unwell). directed and cultivated by @machellovesyou 💕 who - might i add - is the associate artistic director of the starr and made this epic evening happen.

it was cupfilling AF to share work within a community that’s watered my heart over the past decade. ive seen some of my absolute favorite shows at the starr by composers whose work i return to over and over (looking at you @jamesandjerome @hcarbornauts @davemalloy) and it was honestly surreal to sing songs weve tracked in kitchens and closets in such a beautiful new space.

this summer has been equal parts precious, challenging, fulfilling, restorative, enervating, and humbling but truly above all deeply rewarding.

i spent, cumulatively, about 1.5 months upstate with my collaborators @litpic & @kellytieger along with their family and not to be dramatic or anything but its changed my life working / playing / creating / living up there. last week, we gathered the whole gang to check if our story ducks were quacking in a row as we hoped they would and now we are off the races with our… ducks. 🦆 (henry vibes)

major ups to @machellovesyou & #jonathangroff for being who you are and infusing the last stint of this writing session with energy and clarity. and tree-climbing.

its a wild thing to see people you love collaborating with each other. and another thing to meet their kids and collaborate on a magnet castle with them and also make up songs. its really everywhere, play. thanks for welcoming me into your world(s) fam, and building new ones with me 💕

This is the color I have the most of, so this picture turned out really well. 🖤 Most of these ended up being series books that were all the same color, obviously. But I like that some of the titles are colored when the covers aren't. It makes it just a little more interesting, I think.
