I really enjoyed this episode except for the part when Jack and Sophie went full on villain mode but if the narrative made sense all of the time it wouldn't be LITG, right?

I've seen you play litg too. Opinions on this season?

Oh-ho, buckle up. I have opinions and I'm bad at summarizing.

Warning: I only play wlw routes in LITG, so I may be missing some cool things about the game, who knows.

First off, I like Lisbeth as a character. And Eisha seems sweet, too, but I'm a faithful woman. That said, I wish Ava was an option. They owe me after robbing me of a Estelle route, hahaha. C'mon fusebox, rivals-to-lovers when??? Because, let's be real, Gabi was gorgeous but, as everyone in Season 5, utterly insufferable and poorly written.

Anyway, there's still the same old problems that come with this game in general and wlw routes in particular:

We're already at the point were dialogue and scenes are merged no matter who it is that you choose. Exhibit A: "I didn't let you finish. It's the last time I do that today." Or whatever it was. Exhibit B: "It's you, it's always been you. You must know that." Both good but the same for everyone.

If you choose to be interested in just Lisbeth you're still forced to string along a guy that you "like the most". Despite saying openly that you like her you're still treated as if you're doing something wrong by having any kind of romantic interaction with her. Why do we have to sneak off at all when I said that I was twisting with a casa boy out of strategy? Let's see how movie night plays because I swear if I'm accused of cheating for having kissed her in casa I'm losing it. I was dumped! I was single! Cheating on whom?!

There's also this curious thing with the female LIs, that I think should be done with all LIs. If you reject them once, it's over XDDD Practically the only choice that gets acknowledged. But seriously, sometimes I'm even hesitant of not choosing a single option that hints that MC is interested in a woman because I fear it'll lock me out of her route. If you compare that to the men, who you can reject over and over again in increasingly rude ways without them ever leaving you alone... Yeah, guess that's Fusebox.

Also, this season was supposed to be all about branching (which, mind you, is the least an interactive story should offer) and your choices, and how compatible you are with the other islanders but... Nothing really matters. Even the emojis stopped popping out. It's so disheartening. The rotten cherry on top was that one compatibility challenge where not only did our choices not matter, they didn't even bother to show us the results at all. Like, WTF?

I also think, though this is probably an unpopular opinion, that there are too many sex scenes and they feel out of place. They feel way too rushed and aren't really good, either. Whether you take the initiative or the LI does, it's the exact same description; the props box should be forbidden considering whatever you choose to use barely participates anyway. I haven't seen any screenshots from the sex scenes with the male LIs, but I'm also pretty sure they're all the same that the ones you get with Lisbeth, and obviously written with the boys in mind. Because the shower sex scene? XDDD Are you telling me Lisbeth, SHE, is holding BOTH MC's hands up against the glass, MC has a leg around her and they're both getting off at the same time? Perhaps not impossible, but let me tell you, if I had one leg around another woman's hips, it'd be very hard for us to grind against each other while we're both standing. Plus, safety hazard. With just one leg for leverage you're bound to slip LOL And with our hands out of the equation... I don't see the sight.

Back to the romance itself, I feel like I hardly know Lisbeth beyond what she does for work. Maybe with the men it doesn't feel so strange because you get to go on dates and to pair up with them for challenges, but for Lisbeth's route it's like you get two lines of dialogue if you choose premium choices and then either shove your tongue down her throat or have the scene end early.

I keep thinking back to Angie's route, in which you get a sense of her strengths and weaknesses little by little throughout conversations without them being spelled out (she's protective and caring, but also judgemental and blunt), and a lot of details about her life away from the show: her bond with her sisters, her tense relationship with her father, her dramatic ex stories, why she chose to be a paramedic instead of a doctor, how she winds down when she's stressed... She's just fleshed out in a way that other seasons don't allow.

When I compare that to Lisbeth's route I'm like, what happened here? How is it that I know nothing about my main (and only) LI but still can sleep with her three, four, whatever times? Personality-wise, all I know is that she's outspoken without coming across as a bitch, and that she has some witty moments. I still laugh when I remember the silver spoon comment at the beginning of the season. Still, not knowing that much about her makes certain things feel very rushed. Like, when she says how close to MC she feels. Why? How?

I believe that's mostly how the game itself is but I really wish they would let us actually talk with other contestants for something other than gossip (that you have to pay for). All conversations are about what other islanders are up to, gossip, jealousy or kinks. Even when you can choose to do something interesting it's just underwhelming.

Like, I'm forced to go on a date with Tristan, of all motherfucking people and I can't even grab Lisbeth for a moment to tell her not to worry? I have to make do with a half-assed "my head won't turn" in front of whoever happens to be in the dressing room?

Dont' get me wrong, it's not the worst season ever, and some volumes were actually entertaining. Especially the first ones, when people seemed to have a distinct personality. It's just... My honest opinion? If this was the debut season of a new game, if I wasn't fond of LITG because of the memories that I have after playing it for years, since it first came out, I wouldn't be playing it at all. And that can be said for every single season starting on Season 5.

i started playing season 6, and i've got shit to say for the half of dozen people that are still following me in this cobweb infested blog (i apologize, i'll be explaining what's happening on a different post)

i'm only on day 2 of the season, right when it's announced that roberto is coming (which is so disappointing to me that he isn't brazilian but portuguese, like... WHEN ARE WE GETTING A GOOD BRAZILIAN CHARACTER????)

anyway, here are my thoughts:

WRITING:

i actually didn't see much of a problem with it so far. it feels on par with similar conversations we had in the past, except this time we're getting to know them a little deeper than, say, season 3.

knowing bella's family situation or roberto's is kind of refreshing because we barely learned bobby had a sister on a throwaway scene on s2, so... yeah, it's ok.

i like how they express themselves because as an litg player, i'm used to some eloquence, but as someone who sometimes watches the show i HAVE to suspend my disbelief since i know islanders from the show are just... NOT GOOD AT EXPRESSING THEMSELVES, to say the least.

i like the conversations we had so far, it felt fluid and fun, but then again i've only coupled up with jamal, because obviousoly i did, who would i go for, fucking ryan? WAKE UP.

the challenges piled up but because of how many dialogues we had in this little time i think it worked pretty well.

CHARACTERS:

grace - girl, it's been a day and ozzy is not even that hot. HAVE YOU SEEN YOURSELF? he's punching, not you. chill. (and i hate they're giving the intensity they gave hope here, feels bitterly familiar and they better fucking knock it off).

bella - FINALLY a girl i like who's available and slutty (affectionate) since the beginning. i absolutely think bella might be right there with talia when it comes to arc as an LI, but we'll see. if anyone dares stealing her or if fusebox even make the slight suggestion of a slowburn i'm burning their HQ idc

ivy - alright i see you bootleg marisol, but i don't give a shit, you're annoying, die in a hole.

amelia - i think she's putting a front and deflecting the negative attention to ivy but that's just me. also, the twist of the public choosing who she should couple up with before she could tell us is extremely dumb and unnecessary, but also a reason for her to say a different name later, maintaining her image of good sister. i don't trust her, i WILL step on her head to the finale, die in a pit you're also annoying.

jamal - i like the attention but everything with moderation gives me way more tingles than a crybaby that can't stop talking about how he wants to be with me again. we were coupled up for a few hours and only had one conversation, chill bitch. it's giving ted mosby and every himym fan knows how bad that is. i'm not sure if every guy that the public chooses to be with amelia on night 1 acts the same, but i'm slightly turned off. it's too much boy, calm down, i'm here to be a slut, calm down.

ryan - get a haircut or let it grow because looking twelve and the coolest lesbian at the same time is not the look for you. its giving hipster with a chemistry kit at the local café.. also, either you're the douchey musician or a bad poet, you can't be both, PICK A STRUGGLE.

lewie - the impersonation of being stuck in traffic. i don't care for you, die in the same hole as ivy and amelia.

ozzy - fucking pulling the noah, man. i've seen this before and i'm not interested. stop being such a coward and tell grace how you feel. i know for a fact you're gonna be drama and it's because you refuse to be honest. it's so embarrassing, bestie.

roberto - HOT. i only saw the preview but i'm excited.

PACING

it's great. i think it was kind of weird how fast and furious it was with some previous seasons (remember the last season i played was 3 and half of 4 {it was soooo tedious i gave up half way through}) but i think so far it's ok. it definitely has better cliffhangers than other times when they thought they tried their darnedest.

OBSERVATIONS WITH SCREENSHOTS:

there's no fucking way they thought these were worth diamonds. and 22 diamonds for that frufru purple shit??? it looks like something who doesn't sew would put together with a hot glue gun, stop.

ivy i might kill you like they kill one of those vampires at the end of the twilight saga, by opening your mouth so wide it cracks off your skull. SHUT - UP.

and amelia... you're irrelevant, get out.

BUDDY, YOU'RE THE MOUTHPIECE OF THE GROUP NOW, HOLY SHIT. grace has me on my knees, i can't.-

i'll give ryan some cool points because 1, he burned ivy in front of everyone, and 2, he admitted and owned up to it. good for you, bestie, good luck when you take a trip to the hair salon and get rid of that... hair. also, STOP SKIPPING LEG DAY BUDDY. from the waist up it's giving "abs, hot, i go to the gym", from the waist down is giving "i'm twelve and there's a reason i go to the beach in pants".

bella and grace looking naked and glamorous but feeling threatened by this ugly ass dress is the funniest joke in the writing so far. truly. i've had mermaid costumes at 4 years of age less embarrassing than this atrocity. stop lying, bella and grace, YOU'RE BOTH NAKED AND PERFECT.

and that's what i have to say so far. i'll continue playing this season until they inevitably fuck up. i'm not being pessimistic, i'm just... well, i guess i am. but i have no reason to believe otherwise.

also, i keep forgetting ozzy is here even though it's been a day. idk why.

anyways, i'll come back with more litg brain rot in a bit.

okok finally caught up on litg s9

gonna try to summarize this neatly bc my game didn't save properly and I played volume 10 twice and sped through volume 11

Zeph is hot and thats a problem for me bc I'm so annoyed at the lack of branching and consequences in this game it has manifested into me making up story for fusebox about MC being upset that Stefan keeps acting like nothing is wrong when I personally am still upset casa amor got Chen dumped (ok that was my fault technically but only bc I wanted him to come back to drama). So now I'm like MC should have a summer fling with Zeph, why not

they're so wishy washy about how Kelly and Finn broke up and it just all feels like hearsay all the time. at the end of volume 11 they seem to decide Kelly thought it was all done pretty respectfully but her comments in volume 10 about movie night seem to disagree??? just asking for a little bit of consistency since I gotta track other people's drama other than my own

also so sorry to kelly who is actually interested in zeph and I am less so interested in him and more just annoyed at the bad writing for stefan

the writing has always been stilted and/or cringe but for some reason I notice it especially with Zeph, like it does feel like his dialogue was written by AI unfortunately. And it puts me off his character a lot, except, again, he's hot and so maybe I'm just like hey don't hurt your pretty head trying to think up romantic scenarios, Zeph. Something odd about him too is he doesn't mention any previous connection to Love Island, and I know he's a new character, but at least Henri and Chen talked about their last times on the show.

I'd like to apologize

I don't know what surprise we're getting next volume but for my own storyline I kinda want the guy dumped post casa to come back. like I'd go back to Chen easy. but this is my delusional ass still just hoping we get drama from casa bc they dropped the ball on it again this season. Curious about talent show but considering how they fucked up Mr Love Island I have little hope.

I forgot this meant we'd have to deal with eddie. hes there like Johnny/Nicolas to the point where I almost prefer if it was one of them around but at least his chaos run makes more sense than johnny/Nicolas just randomly deciding to stir shit out of nowhere after leading MC on and the game forcing us to couple with them.

said this before but if eddie was gonna show up for heart rate challenge why didn't he do a little dance? is it because he sucks as a bombshell??? YEAH. It makes so much more sense to switch him and Zeph, like yeah that would mean we have less time with zeph and more with Eddie, but Zeph could put on a good heart rate challenge performance and Eddie could be way more catty and start shit during movie night than Zeph who wanted to play nice.

I'm so sad to say goodbye to Finn because it felt like he didn't get a good chance (unless MC is pursuing him I guess). but compared to Hamish, who, even if he got dumped here, would've had a lifelong friendship with MC and Natasha and had multiple chances to couple with people, it feels sad to see him go without a good ending. I mean I guess he's got closure with Kat and Kelly, but he felt always stuck in those couples whereas Hamish tried to explore connections with Natasha, Uma, and Melissa. I just think we should've let him punch Eddie in the face after eddie was so mean to Kat and MC.

I've decided to watch the hamish route vicariously through yall and I'll go for wither zeph or Stefan unless something else wild happens until the finale. so yall better tell me what happens it was such a hard decision when the game narrowed it down 🥺

I also think it would be great if we had chats with characters to decide who we're sticking with. like this season aside from maybe the beginning henri/chen/MC/Melissa thing, it feels like one of the other girls always asks you "who do you want to be chosen by" and then you tell her and that person picks you, but then you never address it or outright reject the other person face to face. it's always just like two sentences or just "a sad look" or a gem scene I'm not paying for.

one positive thing I've seen this last volume though is the mini date with your LI before Zeph's date. like its one of the better scenes they've written that isn't just someone outright saying I like you or just chatting. like its fun, and the only other moment I can think of that's similar that doesn't cost gems is the Hamish eavsdropping scene. now if only this was also tailored to your LI because as someone coupled with Stefan, low key unexpected, but imagine if I had picked Henri??

also a lot more choices this volume were worth 10 gems I think

that being said the amount they're asking for in the heart rate challenge is crazy for literally one scene because MC's outfit is like 14+ gems, then you van go for am extra 10 to see your male LI's outfit, and then another extra 10 for the female LI outfit. and this hardly changes the gameplay or gives you more info 🙃

thoughts on todays volume! we're not even halfway through the season and i'm already over it . i'm lowkey struggling to write these posts 😭

first up is excess baggage, where we get another glimpse into our forced backstory: MC didn't go to her season's afterparty, and later on it's revealed that finn was the host (i'm just like, why the hell has he been a host twice? what was he even doing in love island australia? but FB is putting zero thought into writing these seasons, so i should just put zero thought into analysing them)

like i've said before, it wouldn't be a LITG challenge without some bullshit. they decided to make finn's baggage "saying that MC is the sexiest love island star," that's great for people romancing him, but i was just grossed out 🫠 unfortunately it only gets worse from here

melissa and henri got dumped . at least it wasn't natasha or kelly, though kelly suddenly no longer cares about my MC, so it seems like that chat with melissa did lock in one wlw LI

kelly and finn get everyone together to play one of those guessing games, idk what it's actually called. but more importantly, tf is wrong with these people ? you weren't thinking that MC would be tired of everyone and their mother constantly bringing up the guy she was with for two weeks? at this point i wouldn't be surprised if they revealed that MC and stefan were engaged or some shit

side note, lyle's evening outfit looks beyond ridiculous but i kinda love that (tbh it looks like some shit tyler the creator would wear)

The Islanders take part in a Raunchy Challenge. This afternoon both villas will complete a series of saucy challenges. The Villa that has the most points at the end will win the party tonight. Doubts are rising as the Casa Amor boys and girls lay it on factor 50 with the original Islanders. Tensions begin to rise as loyalties are put to the test.

A little teaser:

Narrator, Iain Stirling: "The boys have been getting to know the new girls and  things are looking innocent enough now, but mark my words,�� it won’t be long before 24 Islanders are having text! I think it’s time to turn things up a notch."

[VILLA] Bobby walks to the kitchen steps and yells out to the others spread out across the garden. “I’ve got a text!” His voice was full of excitement, and his eyes sparkled with anticipation.

From the daybeds, Chloe’s eyes widened. “Shut the fuck up!”

[CASA AMOR] Grace read out the first part of the text. “Islanders, prepare for the competition to heat up as you go head to head  with the other Villa in a series of mini-challenges...”

The other Islanders in Casa Amor cheer.

[VILLA] His eyes lit up, and a wide grin spread across his face. Bobby finished reading out the rest of the text. “... The winning Villa will be treated to a cocktail party this evening. #turninguptheheat #allvillanofiller #villavsvilla”

The Islanders whoop and cheer. Jakub turned to Gary, his expression serious. “Hey, Gary, we can’t lose.”

“Why are you telling me? I don’t ever lose.” Gary’s tone was cocky, and he gave Jakub a confident nod.

“Boys, we lost last fucking night.” Lucas’s voice was low and intense, a reminder of their recent defeat.

Siobhan, her curiosity piqued, asked, “What’s it going to be about? Getting racy and kissing quick?”

Jakub grinned, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. “Just, yeah, getting a little bit… A little bit kissy, and a little bit... Naughty.”

In the Beach Hut, Gary: “We have got a challenge coming up and we are competing against the other Villa. Let’s hope we can pull it off. All the OG’s and all the new girls are gonna put their effort in and we’re gonna flipping make sure we get some alcohol and some music tonight.”

The group gathered on the lawn excitedly awaiting the first challenge. “Well, we’re here now, guys, what’s the plan?” Emily looks around at the group.

“Well, er…” Bobby scratches his head, a serious expression crossing his face for a moment before he breaks into a smile. “Win, at all costs!”

“I’m not sure the girls in Casa Amor are gonna be able to keep up with us.” Siobhan shoots Jakub a wink and a smile.

Jakub winks back. “I second that.” Emily rolls her eyes.

[CASA AMOR] “This waiting is doing my head in!” Lottie whined, her voice rising in frustration, as she tapped her stiletto nails together.

“I wonder what we’ll have to do,” Hope asked, as her brown eyes darted around nervously.

“I really hope it isn't something like making a cocktail using only our mouths…” Arjun winced, his face scrunching up at the thought, his tone half-joking but clearly worried.

Hope shuddered, her nose wrinkling in disgust. “That'd be so grim…”

Marisol laughed. “I'd do it if that's what got our villa the party.”

BH Grace: “In this environment, everyone’s like, ‘We gotta win,’ And when you’re thinking there’s a new group of girls back with our guys back at the Villa, like, I’m not gonna let them win.”

[VILLA] Bobby’s phone buzzes. “Oh, that’s me! The next challenge is… The first two islanders to share a kiss underwater! Go!"

“… Underwater!” Ibrahim smiled. “Sick!” He stands up. “Don’t worry, I’ve got this!” He gets a running start and cannonballs into the pool with a mighty splash.

“I’m claiming that one.” Shannon smiled and takes a running leap into the pool as the other Islanders cheer her on.

Jakub informs them, “Go under water. Quick, kiss, kiss.”

Shannon puts her arms around Ibrahim and pulls him towards her as they dip under the water. Their lips meet in a quick underwater kiss. They rise up to the surface laughing and smiling.

ALL: CLAPPING AND CHEERING

“Best underwater kiss I’ve ever had.” Ibrahim’s voice is amused and pleased, his eyes twinkling with satisfaction.

Shannon’s voice is determined, a playful glint in her eye as she declares her intention: “I am not losing that party.”

[CASA AMOR] A phone pings. Elijah’s voice is excited. “I have the next challenge! The first islanders to have an underwater kiss! Go!"

There was a flash of movement where Chelsea was sitting as she races over to Elijah, grabs him by the hand, and pulls him into the pool.

“Ah! What…” Elijah’s voice is startled. Before he can say another word, Chelsea pulls him under the surface. You and the rest of the Islanders look over the edge and see the two of them share an awkward, but underwater, kiss. As they pull apart, Chelsea opens her eyes and smiles at Elijah. He smiles back, then they burst through the surface of the water to cheering.

Priya smiled as Elijah climbed out of the pool. “Look at his muscles glisten!” The girls all smile knowingly enjoying the view.

TEXT ALERT

"Casa Amor won!" Grace screamed and jumped up cheering. The group all jump up and erupt into cheers and hugs.

[VILLA] In the Beach Hut, Bobby: “The other villa has no chance. We are gonna collect the W! (He makes W with both fingers.)

TEXT ALERT

Gary looks down at his phone. “Righty-ho. Here we go.” His shoulders slumped slightly as he read it. “Oh. Casa Amor won.”

ALL: GROANING

“What?” Shannon’s voice rises in protest. “Casa Amor was fastest?”

“No fucking way.” Ibrahim’s expression is one of disbelief. “I was in that pool rapid though.”

“They will be gassed right now.” Gary's tone is resigned as he shakes his head.

“Course they will.” Bobby nods grimly. “No ifs, no buts, no coconuts.”

[CASA AMOR] THE GIRLS CHANT: “No ifs, no buts, no coconuts, we’re gonna win.”

BH Grace: “I was like I want the boys to be down for the rest of the day. Just like sad.” She giggles. “I’m so mean, but I was like I don’t want them to have any fun with the other girls there. So we have to win this.”

[VILLA] “If we lost, I wonder which of the girls was so fast?” Gary's voice tinged with concern, his eyebrows furrowed as he worried it might be a certain pretty brunette. She is so competitive and she hates losing.

Bobby wonders also. “Yeah, it’s hard to work out which one it was.” 

Lucas shrugged nonchalantly. “Could’ve been any of them really.”

I still think its bizarre were sitting here having a normal convo when she literally tried to kiss Lewie last night but whatevs... EEK she noticed Ozzy was super flirty with us during our chat.
