i know abigail said she was turned when she and her father came to america as pilgrims. BUT. if he is dracula ( he’s heavily implied to be and the movie is a reimagining of dracula’s daughter ) and she is his biological child, that doesn’t make sense. he said he has had many names over the years so that is ENOUGH confirmation for me. as dracula, he would be much older than two centuries. she would also have to be much older too. so, she is at least five centuries old like he would be, so she was TURNED long before they came to america. she has been stuck as a fourteen year old for five hundred years. that sounds like hell. she can’t even legally DRIVE.
#& what the hap is fuckening ( ooc )#she’s a really old asf vampire and sometimes people don’t take her seriously#excuse me she’s the daughter of dracula YOU SHOULD TAKE HER SERIOUSLY#also she is hiding a romanian accent and that’s her native language#she misses the old country#literally have so much lore for her and my dracula#who are seperate but also NOT!#she is most definitely canon for my dracula his precious little meow meow he’s more attentive than kristof lazar version of him#abigail spoilers

Sometimes I see the way media handles female characters and I'm just like, "Oh my god, that's so cool. I don't even want you to change that. I just want you to notice how cool that is. Why aren't you doing something with this amazing thing you wrote? It's so fucking cool."
When I seize control of the Castlevania franchise in a bloody coup, the first thing I'm doing is giving this woman her due.
So. Like. The plot of Castlevania is that the Belmont clan is a long family bloodline of vampire hunters who slay a variety of monsters and routinely kill Dracula every time he shows up. The key to their success is the powerful weapon Vampire Killer, an ultra-sanctified super-weapon that cuts the undead to ribbons so hard the crucifix gets jealous.
(Actually, no, crucifix is OP in Castlevania if used well, but I digress.)
Point is, Castlevania once went into detail about the origins of the Vampire Killer. And its origin was this woman. Sara Trantoul, a young woman afflicted with vampirism who decided that, instead of becoming a vampire, she was going to do some alchemy shit to transmute her very soul into the holiest goddamn weapon in the history of sacred artifacts that lethally fucks up every vampire it comes into contact with.
This woman is to the Belmont bloodline what Raava is to the Avatar. What Fi is to the Master Sword. The key to their ability to slay monsters and fight Dracula comes from a teenage alchemist's undying, eternal determination to get his ass. (Well, to get the ass of the vampire whose powers he stole but same deal really.)
In the games, she basically stops being a factor after the one that introduced her. She's a footnote in the canon of Castlevania, far less important than the whip.
But. Like. Her soul is literally in the whip. I've always imagined Sara as, like, the spirit guide and mentor figure and advisor and shit to every Belmont. Like when the whip is officially passed down, your first challenge is to take it and commune with Sara for the first time, the way the Avatar communes with their past lives.
And then she's with the Belmont in spirit. She knows everything. Can name all of the various creatures they might fight. Encyclopedic understanding of the lore. Trades barbs with Death, who (along with Dracula) is one of the few creatures that can see her. Friendly banters with Alucard about her latest Belmont.
Even if your parents were slaughtered as a child and it was all they could do to get you to safety and there's nobody to teach you how to be a Belmont, as long as you have The Whip, there's still Sara.
This character has so much potential to be such a cool piece of the narrative puzzle. It's already there. All she needs is presence.

Finished S1 of Castlevania Nocturne! I gotta say, that one vampire wife of the Marquis who kept his head around was the funniest character in the entire show so far.
In all seriousness, Alucard!!! I was wondering when he'd show up and by the time he did, I'd completely forgotten and thought it was Olrox who saved Richter from Drolta! Speaking of Drolta, she dresses very similar to the Succubus from Symphony of the Night, and even has a similar attack where she spreads out her wings, and sharp tendrils emerge from them; Plus with Alucard being the one to kill her, I'm just gonna treat her as the Succubus. RIP Queen you were a good one.
Does anyone else think Emmanuel is Shaft? He looks like Shaft, he's an evil priest, he's working for an evil vampire, him being human makes him necessary to pull souls from hell. That forgemaster contraption kinda reminds me of that weird orb-thing his ghost fights with in Symphony of the Night...
Speaking of that! Olrox muses on the demon that Emmanuel made a deal with to create that machine, and because of its creator, it's indestructible. Could this be pointing towards Galamoth as the final enemy of the show; He's the hardest boss of Symphony of the Night, Alucard has just shown up, and the two technically fought in... Kid Dracula. Where he was also the final boss for Alucard. The demon might just be Death, but then he's described as an elemental spirit.
I'm also curious as to how Edouard's story will turn out! Between him and Jacques and the Night Creature with a suspicious amount of mouths (as Bathory noted), the show seems to be going back to the whole idea of Night Creatures remembering their humanity and being rehabilitated. Which just begs the question of what happened to Isaac's kingdom of Styria, meant to be a place for Night Creatures to heal? Will we see that come back for Edouard? Isaac was once a slave himself, just as Annette was, so seeing all three come together would be wonderful! It's poetic, as Night Creatures are literally dehumanized slaves, so seeing Isaac, as well as Edouard (someone who helped liberate slaves) resonate with them works.
I wonder if we'll see the Moth Princess from Bloodlines; She's the penultimate boss, and Bathory had her starring role in that game. She looks human enough, but she's probably a vampire, so it'd be easy to adapt her as another lieutenant, especially in the wake of Drolta's death.
DAYUM Olrox and Mizrak! Firstly I'm glad they made Olrox turn into a green reptile monster like in the games... I was joking about the more comfortable place to meet being a bed, but holy shit it actually happened. I love all the references to Olrox's game lore, like his skulls and floating around... Here's hoping we get to see him dramatically unfold his legs in a chair, and then stand up!
I had a lot of fun; Richter was great, Maria was adorable and she is my precious child and I love her so much!!! I love her turtle and I hope we get to see her summon a whole-ass dragon as her most powerful spell, something like that.
I wonder how Emmanuel will go from here, if he's meant to be Shaft; Will he dive into full villainy, or will he be like Isaac, in that his show counterpart will have a happier ending? As Tera said, Emmanuel got his ram; Could it lead to him developing a messiah complex, thinking God rewarded him for his faith? Or will he know better? If he's Shaft, I better see him throw some... *snrk*... balls.
And did anyone else find the Night Creatures in this season to be particularly horny? Like that one moth girl who looks like a monsterfucker's OC, I mean I'm not complaining! Is this just a creative decision by the animators or does Emmanuel have anything he wants to share with the class... It all started with Abel it seems.
AND JUSTE!!! I managed to guess it; The white hair always made me wonder how Juste might be adapted, hypothetically, so it seems the show just portrays him as an old man for that! When he took Richter's whip, I had my suspicions and made the hair connection, it was wonderful... And they referenced Lydie and Maxim!!! Unfortunately it was yet another tragic ending for a Belmont... Man, what happened to the previous season's ending suggesting a happier route, only for us to go back to a "Last of the Belmonts" situation??? At least we got a Sypha shout out!
One more thing I just remembered; Annette's favorite color is Green. I believe that's a reference to her sometimes being depicted with a green dress in the source material? And in-universe, might reference Edouard... I love the connection between Annette's manipulation of metal, and her whole thing of banishing the demonic machine; Here's hoping she gets to pull it off!
All in all, I'm excited to see how things go in the second season! Which will really suck waiting for, but that's the price for quality I'm afraid. Ethical quality at least. But I gotta wait, what other choice do I have? Here's looking forward to how Alucard interacts with yet another Belmont... When Richter almost drank, I could just SEE him become Trevor again and I bet Alucard felt a chill down his spine for some reason.

Any hcs you have? Any club penguin character this time!
Good morning gang (even thought it's noon as of posting this), welcome to episode 2 of ramblingfestation! I'm your host, G Billy, and im your co-host, G Billy-
I mentioned this like a while back but my hcs outside of the pb are kinda lacking i think so I'm sorry if this isn't going to be as juicy as the previous hc dump.
Here goes!:
Aunt Arctic has 2 sisters! with her being the middle child.
Sam/Shadow Guy is colorblind, specifically, he has protanopia (literally JUST searched up the term), it means that he can see only shades of blue and yellow (can't perceive the color red).
Not much of a hc but it might be fun to know, in my design for Shadow Guy, if you look closely, you'll see that one of his pupils is whited-out (just an outline). This, and the poof of spiky feathers he has on his head are a nod to him getting zapped by the toaster that gave him his powers (quick note: my clubp lore knowledge doesn't go very far, just fyi)
I've already stated this hc before but I might aswell also mention it here, Amy/Gamma Gal is a cane user! Never stops her from kicking ass though!
This one has something to do ab my design for the character again: Agent(PR) uses hair gel to style the feathers on their head. They try to make them as neat and cool-agent-looking as possible, but they always end up looking silly and dopey. Same applies to Agent in the normal club penguin universe, but they're more successful in their attempts. Ig that's how I differentiate them, personality wise, PR Agent ends up more towards the silly side while ClubP Agent ends up on a lil more towards the serious-ish one, if that makes any sense.
Idk much about Dj Maxx but I roll with the idea that he's a ghost. He and Dj Cadence are roommates (no, you may NOT quote the vine)! Though Cadence is the only one who leaves the igloo, Maxx just kinda chills in there. No one knows about his existence there except for Cadence, the PB and maybe other ghosts like Skip.
Speaking of Skip the Bellhop, bro HATES the sunlight. Whenever he hangs out with Jeff (SKEFF IS REAAAAL) during the summer, he has like a victorian ass umbrella with him to protect himself, aswell as some fancy ass shades (dracula fuckin ass).
The Penguin Band all live in the same igloo (you may now quote the vine)!
I was going to save this for a possible future post but Stompin' Bob has a lotta siblings. 1 older sister and 2 younger twins (boy and girl).
I think that's going to be it for today, I don't wanna overdo myself and explode cuz I've never rlly rambled like this online.
Hope u guys liked it!
#im not tagging these hcdumps yet cuz im nervous#stay tuned for more evil sheldon adventures!!! /ref

An unorganized rant about monster high, generation three,
This is mostly about character powers.
Monster high G1 has never had any solid or concrete lore. The main premise has always been, the fashionable teenage children of the universal monsters. It also includes a lot of superstition type characters, and characters from Greek mythology. From what I remember the parents didn't play a big role in generation ones main content. Maybe Dracula and Cleo's father the mummy. Monster high also established that there's pretty much an alternative universe where things are monster pun variants of the real world. Most characters are presumed to be immortal-ish, or they live very long lives. They don't get into how age works and they expect viewers to suspend their disbelief for alot of things. they use your base knowledge of these famous monsters, but they don't really expand on them that much. The stories are more dramatic and don't involve much much lore building. Since they established the monster world as a parody of the real world, it gives the ghouls more places to go, and they don't have to be tied to actual prominent locations present in the media they reference. (For instance deuce won't need to go to Hesperides or Greece and Frankie doesn't have to the Bavarian alps or something idk, does that make sense?😭 Draculaura doesn't need to visit Transylvania). The movies also showcase alot of different characters and locations. It makes the monster world feel more alive. What also helps is the illusion of other schools. I often see monster high as a public school, and things like the werewolf school, and vampire schools feel like private schools. I think it helps convey monster highs messaging of being unique. Good allegories for anti racism, anti homophobia, anti ablism. Since you see how the outside world looks compared MH.
Monster high Generation 3 is striving to have more lore and world/character building. Characters now have abilities that tie into their origins. Frankie stein has electric powers, and they can exchange their body parts for helpful tools. Clawdeen has super speed, strength, smell, and hearing. Draculaura has hypnosis (it's a vampire trait I believe), transformation into a bat, and she has literal magic spells. Almost every character has a new ability that links to their monster origins. I think this is a cool concept, I'm always down for a more monstrous approach, but for some characters it feels very gimmicky and not realistic for the setting. -lets take cleo- she is a mummy monster, and mummies often get some organs removed when they are getting mummified. Cleo has nearly all of her internal organs removed. And not only that, she keeps them on her 24/7. Typically mummies only have their stomach, lung, and liver taken out. And maybe their intestines. And they're put in jars and held within the tomb. Cleo keeps her organs on her 24/7 because she literally cannot live without them, which in my opinion defeats the purpose of her being an undead mummy. The organs are used as plot devices to cause conflict in some episodes. Oh no Cleos inner ear, conveniently rolls away so she loses balance and trips and falls and almost gets caught by humans!! Oh no Cleos heart needs to be given up for this special necklace! But she will be rendered emotionless 😫😫!! There's never really any advantage to her having all of her organs removed, even though she is proud of it. It's not something that I think adds to her character and I think she would be the same without it. (Maybe if it was a fun fact in the BG they could be cute, but for plot purposes it seems weak). Characters like heath, Abby and Lagoona now have elemental powers. Abby and Heath had them In G1, but it was more of a byproduct of their monster types. Not necessarily something they used super actively. Abby was a yeti first, before she was an ice element. Now I'm G3 I'm willing to argue that she's more of a snow man than she is a yeti. While she lives in the Himalayan mountains, she wears no fur or yeti looking attire. Her outfit consists of snow patterned pants and a snow T-shirt, matching her ice earrings and ice...sandals???? I would understand, shes an ice monster, so she doesn't get that affected by the cold temperatures. Therefore she doesn't need to wear big fur coats... But they don't explain it like that at all. Her mother still sports a white fur look while abby is more purplish. It's a tad nitpicky, but she just doesn't come across as a yeti to me. She's an ice element. Lagoona is the same way. Her looks have already convinced me that she's a sea creature, I don't think she needs to have water bending powers. Deuce also irks me with his powers. If you see his eyeballs, you will turn to stone. So he is supposed to be wearing sunglasses to cover up his eyes, except in this generation, his sunglasses are literally just tinted glasses. If that. You can see his eyes clearly. But they still treat his powers the same. So it's just silly to me but when characters are like "oh no his eyes are showing!!! Put his sunglasses on!!! And he puts them on, and you still see his eyes 😭. I have not the slightest clue as to why they designed them this way.
Since the characters now have fancy special powers, the writers often have to include them into every episode. So the episodes often feel bloated with unnecessary conflicts and shenanigans that don't further the plot in most cases. I feel like it takes away from the actual overarching story they are trying to tell. High stake events like clawdeen figuring out things about her mother, are often drowned out and fall flat because compared to every other episode it's nothing crazy. They just got done surviving an attack from a giant plant monster and the whole school almost being destroyed or something, clawdeen learning information about her mother is often pushed to the side. This made it hard to believe how serious her mothers disappearance was. This phenomenon happens with every character. One episode draculaura is freely using magic the next it's super high stakes about her being expelled, just to have the episode after that feature magic again with no remorse 😭. With the constant shenanigans, magic is the least of the schools worries at this point. They also have midterms, which is something to hone in on certain characters powers and abilities, but there’s no build up to midterms. It just happens one episode. I wish we got to see the characters struggle throughout the season, maybe clawdeen especially. If they have to have her human form, let her transformation be unstable for a few episodes, maybe the moon tailsmen doesn’t really enhance her powers unless used correctly, so she has to actually learn and adapt to these new werewolf powers. Instead she’s just the BEST werewolf and there’s no doubt she will win any battle. Her human form isn’t something that puts her at a disadvantage at all.
I believe Frankie is probably the most conveniently used character during the whole season. Frankie is pretty much cogsworth from fallout. They have just the right tool for the right time. I used to think Frankie having different people in their head was cool, but the more it’s used the more I’m like “doesn’t Frankie get tired of this?” Every episode Frankie is going to electric shock themselves or their friends, they’re going to need to tear themselves apart to save someone, they’re going to literally break apart at other points. It looks like it would get exhausting. If I remember correctly, G1 Frankie only really lost her hands and maybe a leg on specific occasions, but it wasn’t something she did willingly often. Sometimes she would remove her hands to help others. Also I don’t remember her having many electric shock moments, not ones that she wanted to happen anyways. You could make a shallow argument that in G1 her hands falling off and electricity issues were more of a (disability), where in G3 it’s an asset to Frankie’s character, one that I just can’t suspend my disbelief to be like “yeah they totally aren’t bothered by this 24/7”. In my opinion it would make more sense if Frankie was just a robot in this generation. They hardly feel like a franken monster anymore.
Draculaura and her infamous witch powers…it just feels like a strange writing decision in my opinion. I think they couldn’t think of some vampire powers, so she matches with everyone else, so they made her a witch so she can do spells. And I’ll assume they made it forbidden for maybe a sense of taboo, but it just doesn’t make sense at all. She practically does witchcraft out in the open multiple times, and no one ever cares. And her spells are never anything that I think are too spectacular, casual levitating spell when needed, convenient teleporting spell. It doesn’t add to her character at all. Maybe I have G1 brain rot, but I liked her forbidden romance in G1. It was simple and cute. And her character was such a sweetheart and a cutie pie. She doesn’t need enhanced vampire powers because her actual personality speaks for itself. In G3 draculaura is defined by everything around her, but what’s her actual personality without those things?
Overall I kind of miss the casual approach to the characters abilities in G1. I like the idea of them in G3, but the execution just doesn’t land in my opinion. The constant fight scenes drag the episodes, paired with the rushed heavy handed messaging and you have very little character development.

Hello, friend! I just stepped into Hellsing this past weekend and through my scrolling for blogs to follow, I came across yours. I found you through your posts about your OC. Based on what I've already read from you, you seem like a highly thoughtful, kind and knowledgeable person, and I've got every intention of reading your stories and commenting on them!
If it pleases you, I'd like to ask you some questions about Hellsing and your relationship to it.
1. What first drew you to the series? And is it best to follow the manga, anime, or OVA in terms of interpreting the story?
2. If it was up to you, what would you change about the story?
3. What's your take on the overall dynamic between Alucard, Integra and Seras?
4. I see the story takes quite a few artistic liberties with the lore from Dracula by Bram Stoker. Why do you suppose Alucard tried to turn Mina? Do you suppose it was for similar reasons as those for why he turned Seras?
5. I've been doing my share of research into vampire lore as of late and have come to learn that the lore Bram Stoker borrowed from for and added to through his novel contains antisemitic undertones. As a Jewish individual and a fan of the Hellsing series, how do you navigate this? (Disclaimer: I am not Jewish, which is why I did not recognize this myself until recently.)
Thanks so much for your time and attention. Happy Holidays!
First of all, oh my gosh thank you so much for the kind words! This ask made my whole day - I hope you enjoy my works, I feel like you can physically see my sense of writing develop over time but I put a shitload of heart and soul into them so I hope it shows. <3 As for your questions, I'm going to get into some major spoilers, so reader be warned beneath the Read More.
I think the general aesthetic was what drew me to the series at first. The dark, edgy and mysterious elements blended with pulpy action hero shit and campy horror form a really unique beast in terms of art, storytelling, everything. I saw someone refer to Hellsing's approach as "aesthetic maximalism" and tbh that is everything I love about it - all this, plus the surprisingly heartfelt messages about war, trauma and being human kept me coming back for more. As for which version is best to follow, I personally lean towards the manga as the main reference point, but Hirano was plenty involved (to my knowledge) with Ultimate's development since it's the adaptation that's faithful to the manga. The Gonzo 2001 anime has some fun ideas and cool moments but it's basically fanfic, including some major changes to the characters from their original versions (Integra is outright cruel at times in 2001 and way more dogmatic, Alucard is more brooding and mysterious, and Seras has more to do and feels more mature but her personality got flattened). Oh, that and BDSM as a narrative device. Love that shit.
I would make a couple of changes, personally. First and foremost, I would make it a little clearer why Alucard decided to shoot Seras before then turning her. It's never explained if he did this out of selfish desire to have a companion, or if there's some other reason - from our perspective it seems like he really did just murder Seras to make her his pet. It seems totally plausible for him to have shot the vampire holding her hostage without hurting Seras. Right now, it basically looks like a glorified abduction. However, this kind of clashes with how their dynamic develops over time, and that's clearly not the kind of relationship that's meant to be portrayed between them, as they do have a certain sort of genuine affection for one another, but it isn't delved into as much as I would like. I think making it clear one way or another would dispel the uncertainty. I would also expand on Millennium's origins and personal motivations more, and at least make the references to their crimes against Jews more overt. Beyond that, there is little I would change.
BDSM polycule. No. Literally. I don't even mean this to say that they are canonically a throuple - that misses the mark. BDSM is often sexual, but it does not need to be (plenty of dynamics exist where a dominant and submissive engage in a power exchange without ever touching one another for mutual benefit). The characters call those who direct their actions 'Master' for a reason, and it's because Hellsing is rife with themes of dominance versus submission, and how the act of bending to someone else's will is not necessarily a bad, damning thing that makes you weak. Alucard knows he is not a moral person, so he gladly allows Integra to give him orders on who to kill, who to destroy, and so on. Seras is a fearful person who has long struggled to feel a sense of agency in her life, and lacked authority figures to guide her growth. Alucard and Integra both provide her that push - and it's scary, and it hurts, and she puts up a fight all the while because she's frightened and uncertain of herself. Everyone likes to act as though Alucard hated her for this, but that seriously misses the mark. Especially in the manga, Alucard is surprisingly patient with her refusal to grow, telling her to take her time as she adapts to being a vampire. But at no point do either parties let Seras forget - growth is not optional. Eventually, she will have to accept what she is. And she ends up finding solace, belonging, and fulfillment in her service to others in this way.
I doubt it was for these reasons. Personally, I think Alucard’s affiliation with and interest in Mina Harker is often overstated by the fandom - of Dracula the novel, and of Hellsing. I view what he did to Mina as a cruel, strategic crime of opportunity, a means of striking at the heart of the team of vampire hunters that were pursuing him. That, and a means of keeping an eye on them. Nothing more, nothing less.
Aaahh that's a spicy meatball. So first and foremost I think it is important to note that a great deal of tropes in literature from the Eurosphere have some level of antisemitism baked into them. As one of the oldest forms of bigotry, it's just a fact of life. If you're Jewish and engaging with media whatsoever, you run into it. It just happens. Now, having said that, I would say two things. One, Alucard is far tamer in appearance than Dracula is in the novel. No small beady eyes, no retracted hairline of messy-fluffy hair, and while he does have an aquiline nose, it isn't this grotesque-looking oversized Zeppelin of a thing as most antisemitic caricatures would portray. That, and his negative personality traits are more than of a general brute, rather than this small-minded, vindictive, greedy miser. Having said that, he does still use seduction as a weapon, he does drink blood (blood libel), and so on. That in mind, I think where I fall is that you cannot divorce the vampire from its origins as an antisemitic trope, but you can point to the elements of the trope that aren't necessarily anti-Jewish in nature as well as say that Alucard is departed enough from these roots to be largely divorced from them. Largely, keyword. The other part to this is that antisemites in Hellsing are consistently portrayed as the villains. Indeed, it is perhaps the only usage of the Nazi Vampire trope that I think does it justice. By having the bigots that would normally insist that Jews are blood-drinking monsters be the actual monstrous enemies who kill and plunder just because it's fun for them (and that they did this as humans long before they turned to boot), it gives the impression of commentary on how Jews are often scapegoated for the crimes of actual bad actors, in the same way that Jews get blamed for the economy being bad instead of the rich corporate oil barons who sit in their ivory tower ruining shit for everyone else. That, and general commentary on warfare. Warmongers gorging themselves on the blood of innocent people that their conflicts spill is a classic allegory of the vampire - hell, for that matter, think of how many Confederate vampires there are in fiction. It isn't a coincidence (and come on, we've all seen the thumbnail for that one YouTube video essay on this, LOL). Beyond this, I also want to draw attention to two things: Tubalcain Alhambra's name, and the Captain's death. First off, the fact that Hirano named the Brazilian collaborator with the Nazis after the Alhambra Decree, a watershed moment in European antisemitism which expelled, forcibly converted or murdered all of Iberia's Jews (Sephardim), boggles my mind and to this day I think it's the coolest fucking detail about Hellsing. It links the bad guys both with religious persecution and with violent antisemitism in an unmistakable way. That, and his name, Tubalcain, being named after the son of Cain. It's all very pointed.
Second, the fact that the Captain gives Seras the tools needed to kill him and it's a silver tooth? That Pip specifies comes from a death camp victim and makes it crystal clear for narrative purposes that it represents the crimes of the Nazis coming back to bite them? That's powerful, to me, IMO. It, too, links Millennium with their antisemitic crimes against humanity in a way that you really cannot make excuses for. I've spoken about this with fellow Jewish Hellsing fans, mind you, and my take is more charitable than most. If you want to be specific with it, the widely agreed-on way to properly discuss Nazism is to show point blank that their victims were primarily Jews, first and foremost - and in that, Hellsing falls short, as there isn't a single Jewish character in the series, named or otherwise (which is a gap I wanted to fill through my fanfiction). Having said that, I personally think that as far as depictions of Nazis in anime goes, it's one of the better ones out there - but it isn't perfect, and the style Hellsing is written in (it's basically opera, after all, Bertolt Brecht forgive me) kind of made that a forgone conclusion. Make of that what you will.
Thanks for the questions!!!

------so the plan , as i've thought about it during work , is eventually to have a blog for each muse in morgan's universe . i need to name the universe officially but it will include some affiliated characters from pals that have shown an interest and either want to make their own muse off of the lore , or have a verse for it .
morgan and lee will have their own carrd because they're already made . everyone else will be on a compendium sort of carrd which will have individual information based off of the actual muse themselves . each blog will be a solo blog because i know if i made a multi muse i'd see tumblr just choose to interact with the man - presenting muses because dick - chasing and that would piss me off . i love ships as much as the next person , but all of these muses are literally years old and deserve a chance at being written with .
currently slated as muses to be created are :
clarity hollis - a vampire mercenary , and her brother will be a guest on her blog
esmé everhart - a human gun runner , kingpin of the black market . his mother was a witch , and a good portion of his clientele are preternatural creatures
rider lorne - a witch ( specializing in necromancy and blood magic ) who runs an occult shop
lucien bello - an incubus who owns a no - touch gentleman's club , which doubles as a front for his black market fencing business
aleera "anaís valdez" - a upir , one of the former brides of dracula
moira osbourne - a shapeshifter who believes she is the reincarnation of muninn
aymeric xandros - a lamia , basilisk variant , whose a rather successful architect
letha righton - a changeling hunter who has no idea she's actually a fae
these muses will come slowly and over time and i plan on rotating through who i write pending who i have energy and muse for . currently only lee and morgan have blogs .
lastly , you can spot affiliated muses speckled throughout and i'll give them shout outs as they prop up more and more . currently we have @wyrdfractures with silas hale ( muse ) , @thirt13n with sylvi karsten ( verse ) , @medicbled with gloria de lima ( verse ) , and @intombed is currently making a muse .
I AM NOT ABANDONING MORGAN . i am working on things behind the scenes and shuffling around on my end . lee has more muse in my head currently but this is how it's gonna roll with a rotation of muses as i work to establish them . threads will be responded to !

characters of Dracula minecraft playstyles. Imagine for this they have a minecraft server.
Jonathan A cottagecore builder, might make some larger builds but nothing too crazy, a lot of the resources he uses are from Mina, always sleeps at night. He also likes exploring a lot, but never wanders too far him his base. Also i don’t mean any of this in a ‘coward’ way I just dont think he gets that into the game.
Mina That girl is GRINDING. No automated farms either, she is in the mines gathering resources, she is in the neither trading with piglings, in the villages maxxing out villagers, has a massive multie layered farm for all the crops, full enchanted netherite, she is stock piling everything. She also builds really cool stuff, usally sticks to smaller builds though no mega builds or anything too over the top. Might make some sort of lore to her builds. Her and Jonathan probably have a server that is just for the two of them outside of the main server.
Lucy Literally my play style, goes crazy with flowers, builds really beautiful gardens and cottages, i think we would differ at wood types though, she probably would light lighter colours like birch and oak whereas i prefer spruce and dark oak. Doesn’t play much outside of servers/with others.
Arthur I couldn’t imagine him getting really into it, might log on once or twice to hang out, but he is hyping Lucy up 100% she shows him her builds and he is like ‘that is impeccable, very beautiful. Are those lilly of the vallies? Where did you find them?’ might gather some flowers for her.
Seward He would love redstone, probably is super confused by it so he uses tutorials for everything but i could imagine him making a few farms and smaller neat little redstone contraptions but nothing over the top. Probably mostly plays by himself, joined the server on day one and now barely plays on it.
Quincey Also couldn't see him really getting into minecraft. Might build a little farm or ranch. Might have a few running bits with people on the server, mostly logs on to see other peoples builds and to help out when needed.
Van Helsing Making all sorts of stuff, not as grindy as Mina, more so the type of player where if you say ‘does anyone have x?’ in the GC they will go ‘yep i do’ every time. i think he also would get really into the villagers, gives them stories and name and everthing. Maybe will create some drama.
Dracula Probably builds a base in a place literally no one knows how to find. Probably collects rare items in the games. No one knows how he got on the server and he isnt griefing bases so everyone just goes along with it. Probably steals small useless items from people.

Tedward 'Teddy' Lobo/Marya 'Draculaura' Zaleska fanfic coming soon
Yep, I am indeed writing a modern Universal Monsters fanfic where our favorite Lobo babygirl makes friends with Dracula's daughter! 🐺💜🧛♀️ I wonder how many people remember Dracula had a daughter long before Monster High and Hotel Transylvania existed? 🤔 Well if you're a lore reader, I really recommend you read some articles about the very interesting lore and influence behind the 1931 film Dracula's Daughter below. ↓
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
But anyways, what is the plot of this fanfiction?
Bellafrancesca confirms that her son, Tedward Lobo will finally earn the Lobo empire inheritance and her trust and respect — Under two conditions: 1. He'll have to go to the legendary Count Dracula's almost abandoned castle (Dracula and Robert left, not the remaining servants. The family there formerly serving as Dracula's servants instead take his departing as an opportunity to become the next powerful empire) in Transylvania, Romania and find the Count's daughter preserved in her coffin in the basement to be placed under a sleeping curse for many years after her death and take her in to become the Lobo's new ultimate weapon for world domination. And 2. He'll have to marry the heir of the new rival crime lord in the same castle in order for the Lobos to become much more bigger and powerful to take over the world better. Will Teddy have what it takes to complete these seemingly simple two tasks to get what he wanted since childhood once and for all, or will his hidden humanity and sympathy towards the suffering Transylvanian Sleeping Beauty show him what matters more in life?
Contains: Teddy/Marya, elements of what makes Teddy/Marya the dark rival to Robert/Rebecca, and foresights that make Teddy's circumstances during the events of the movie more heartbreaking than it already is. Oh and some OCs. 😉
Made from Heroine Creator by AzaleasDolls (Ignore the "Best of Adult Swim" tab, I'm using FlashPoint since the program was made at the time Flash was dying XD)
In my Renfield world headcanon, since Renfield looks alot different then he used to when he started becoming Dracula's servant, Marya would've looked different in the modern day too. One of the noticeable differences is she has her hair pulled down more often and when her hair is down, it's alot longer. Like knee length, longer bangs, flows from even a slight breeze easily and as I would describe it "Has many partings like spider legs, but thin and silky as a spider web." I basically think of it like how Cati-Art beautifully draws Kikyo's hair~ ↓
Fanart by Cati-Art
I also headcanon that modern Marya often wear blues, purples and small parts of pinks. Galaxy colors basically. Like vampires are associated with bats and bat basically sky puppies after all. CX The colors contrasts well with Teddy's reds and blacks too XD My other sky aesthetic heacanon is when Marya eats a bug, her eyes glows pink. But her eyes aren't the only ones glowing, so does her royal blue dress, purple cape, reddish-pink jewelry and even her black hair glows purple with blue streaks like Starlight Glimmer. Literally glowing in the dark. Maybe a light in the darkness metaphor. (RIP CGI budget 💀 Perhaps vampires really do sparkle all along XD)
Another headcanon of mine is in the human world, she goes by her birth name Marya Zaleska. But in the monster world, she goes by Draculaura. The reason for the name isn't just for Monster High reasons, but it's because the name Laura is derived from the Roman laurel, a symbol of victory, peace, fame, success, and prosperity. Draculaura does crave for peace in her life without having to cave in to her vampirism. It's true she sadly didn't succeed in the end of the film, but if Teddy can be revived and given another chance for a better life in post-movie fanfics, so can she. She really should anyways since vampires don't stay dead no matter how they're killed. 😂 And she could use a new modern spinoff show, and so does the Lobos because they are such an entertaining crime family with potential for depth exploration of character and history, so why not I make a spinoff show for both characters in a form of a fanfiction where Draculaura works alongside Tedward and his family members since they found her coffin, awakened her from her long sleep and took her in as their new Lobo pack member who has the power to help them with world domination.
But since Marya herself doesn't like living with her vampirism curse nor wanting to take over the world with darkness and terror, and prefers to live more like a normal human like she had wanted to for a long time, she instead has him use her magical rings for his guns so they shoot pink magic bullets (And those bullets travel further, faster, don't require reloading every 10 bullets shot as it is magic, and they hit harder where hitting a person would literally explode into pieces and blood would spatter everywhere >:D), feeds him a bug to advance his powers, remove his silver amulet to reveal his true werewolf identity, (idk if you noticed, but it just occurred to me that Teddy wears a small, thin bracelet on his less tattooed wrist and it looks silverish. Perhaps that could be a werewolf curse suppressing amulet too? It could very well look like one… 🤔) or all of the above lol.
Notice the silver bracelet on the right? The detail makes me curious... 🤔
Oh yes, I'm talking about the magical ring on the left. Marya uses it to hypnotize her victims. But since this is my story, Imma have fun an utilize her ring for other purposes as it is magical. If I put that ring in a gun and shoot up to the sky, it comes out and booms like a pretty firework! :D
This not only encourages him to fight for world domination himself instead of using another sentiment being as a weapon to do the dirty work for him, but it also boosts his energy and self-esteem immensely without cocaine required, and he has a reason to come home, eat his dinner more than normal and enthusiastically brag to his family about his awesome monster hunt today, how powerful he was, how he instilled fear into even supposedly scarier supernatural monsters, how awesome his new vampire friend is at helping him be the man he had always wanted to be and maybe finally gain the strength and respect from his own family once and for all. …Right…?
Tune in to find out. 😈
Seriously though, I find it interesting that Teddy was eager to join Dracula and introduce him to his mom like he just met his longtime idol even thought the guy has the ability to drain out his blood within seconds if he decides Teddy is food. Makes me wonder if it wasn't the first time he heard of or met a vampire before and knows how to not push the wrong buttons! 😂

Do you think part of the reason for Hector's treatment in NFCV was because the writers did understand Hector was a parallel to Dracula, but N!Dracula is "uwu sympathetic <3 husband ignoring my last wishes and beliefs!" so of course Hector can't have same storyline as the games?
You're giving too much credit to Warren Ellis lmao. dude wanted to name Godbrand "Mathias Cronqvist" become somehow he missed that it was Dracula's human name, and you think he understood, or even cared about, Hector's narrative significance?
I can believe that the original plan for him was to slowly become the Hector we see in CoD, in the same way Alucard was meant to be perceived as younger than his SoTN self. That makes sense, in theory. While the real Hector would never consider culling as a good compromise, N!Hector displays some morals and doubts as early as episode 2: "All I'm saying is that our goals can be met without gleefully paddling in the blood of children." You can already see the contrast between him and N!Isaac, who is 100% loyal and ready to throw hands at anyone who dares to question Dracula: "No, no, no! Dracula will decide, not you. Threaten me all you like, I will die for him, if I don't kill you first. You do not question my loyalty." So this checks.
(also this is the mother of nitpicks but i hate how N!Isaac just calls Dracula by name. It's "Lord Dracula", asshole, at least be consistent with your bootlicking.)
Carmilla's inclusion threw everything off. She turned a perfectly good story of Hector slowly coming to terms with his own humanity and choosing to flee rather than become a weapon of mad slaughter, into a shitty GoT ripoff where she basically played politics and manipulations by taking advantage of the Lord's weakness to further her own agenda. And she used Hector's doubts to turn him on her side, stripping him of his agency. And then she humiliated him because look at the stronk kween as she beats the absolute shit of this weak, helpless, defenseless man. And after that, Hector derailed too much to even approach his original storyline: Ellis was too busy jerking off to his mommy fetish to care about an actual character arc, and the Deats allowed it because uhhhhh kojima already brought the horny we're just continuing her work :V
(Dracula doesn't look good either, btw, as he simply let Carmilla go after she humiliated him in front of the court and did what she wanted out of apathy because muh depression. Same for Isaac, who understood that making Carmilla happy would not be beneficial to them but went along with it because "she will stop causing mischief". No wonder Carmilla thinks all men are idiots :V oh but Hector, the only one who actually cared about unifying the squabbling generals, is the one called "a simple creature". fuck you.)
Speaking of which, it doesn't help that, as early as S2, Hector was seen in-universe as the weak link of the court. Dracula and Isaac have zero respect for him and constantly question his intelligence, a complete 180° from canon where Hector was Dracula's special babyboy favorite and Isaac was torn between respect and resentment. My questions about what the hell is he even doing there aside, I honestly don't know what was the point of that: I can see a parallel with Lenore later on, who also seems to not be very respected by her besties despite her alleged cunning, but since I doubt Lenore was in the plans, I can only see that as Ellis deciding to weaken Hector's character for... shit and giggles?
That being said. It sure is interesting how Dracula was treated as a poor grieving husband who totally deserved his happy ending with his happy wife, Isaac was given a whole speech about How Much He Has Changed and how super cool and badass and awesome he has become, while Hector, after being literally dehumanized and raped, only "evolved" by... deciding he had to bring Dracula back. And he was stopped by the ever so wise Isaac. Oh but who gives a shit about Curse of Darkness and its lore, it's just an aggressively mid PS2 game, totally irrelevant, we can mangle it as much as we want who cares about the stupid games they're old anyway hahahahahhahahaa

I'm sobbing why does my dash have to be filled with reminders about Phantom Blood.
So, the thing about... actually crossing over Dracula and Phantom Blood is. It's complicated. So, Araki looked at vampire lore and said "this ain't gonna do it for me. not sexy enough. not enough gore. where are the man-dogs?"
Religious iconography doesn't kill vampires (it makes an honest effort. Dio gets impaled by a statue of Venus but he lives unfortunately). They use breathing martial arts to harness the power of the sun (which Bram doesn't even explicitly say harms vampires. what the fuck Bram, toss me a bone). AND EVEN THEN! I swear to god, ninety percent of the time Hamon doesn't even work against vampires because all of the highly trained Hamon masters get fuckin' decimated by a guy who turned into a vampire last week.
I feel like maybe crossovering the plots would be weird... but to have the characters interact would be interesting. And I'm not just saying this because I've spent too much of my life working on Phantom Blood rewrites. I love these characters, I hate what happened to them. Jonathan Joestar dies at twenty-one. Unfair, illegal.
But so, since I keep thinking about this and I've already posted nonsense about crossovers, I might as well dip my toes.
Warning that I don't go deep enough into Jojo lore to make this comprehensible to non-Jojo fans.
Okay so, Phantom Blood takes place from 1880-1889. So, not really a viable time to crossover with Dracula. I know some are more fast and loose about crossovers, but I'm the guy who gets mad at people who think Frankenstein was set in Victorian times. I'm insufferable is what I'm saying. The earliest you might place Dracula is 1890 since that's 7 years before the publication, but some people go with a later date (for context reasons? shit about New Women and stuff) or even 1897.
But whatever. I guess... you can lie about things to make a crossover work... but you can't change the timeline of Jojo's bc Araki is an author that actually tells you what fucking year it is in his manga which makes him a god in my eyes.
So, probably the best way to connect the Joestars to the Crew of Light initially is that Jonathan Joestar is nobility. Perhaps the Joestars have met the Holmwoods? Jojo and Arthur could bond over having no mom? And later, their dads dying at a very inopportune time? And their wedding plans being ruined?
Dio Brando was a lawyer (or still in university to become one?) but I don't think he would have gone into property law?? I think canonically, he planned to be corrupt and take bribes from criminals, but I've seen fanfics that hint at crossover potential just being Harker and Dio knowing each other because of their lawyering. I think that's neat. Dio thinks this man (with the same damn name as his stepbrother) is so insufferable. And Harker doesn't even have the excuse of being rich or having a stable family, he's literally also a poor orphan, it vexes Dio so much, "stop being so happy you're not allowed, you're supposed to be bitter like me".
Erina Pendleton is the daughter of a doctor and later gets into medicine herself to nurse Jojo back to health after his first... well his first BIG LETHAL fight with Dio. Her father could know Van Helsing? Or Seward's parents? I assume Seward's father would also be a doctor but I dunno. You know he got that asylum through nepotism. Anyway, bullies call Erina's father a quack, so maybe he could indulge in theories about vampirism like Van Helsing? We see nothing of him, but he gets sponsored to do some medical research in India. It seems like big deal research to me, but I wouldn't know. It wasn't plot relevant, it's just the explanation for why Erina is gone for the seven-year time skip.
Also. isn't it funny that Phantom Blood and Dracula both have a seven-year time skip?
But here's the big issue I keep slamming into like a fly knocking against a glass window. Phantom Blood takes place in Liverpool where the Joestar estate is. I mean, there's also some cavorting in London, and Dio is from London, but the characters all spend the majority of their time in Liverpool. Maybe I'm just... I'm thinking too deeply. After all, most of the locations in Phantom Blood are made up. And England is just so small.
Mixing the vampire lore would be the hardest. Vampires are OP in Phantom Blood, and I refuse to give Dracula that much power. Vampires don't even... use their teeth here. I guess the sharp teeth are just for se-- *gets shot* They just stick their fingers into your skin like silly straws and suck it out that way. And they are created either by wearing the Stone Mask or by feeding vampire blood to someone/just spilling vampire blood on a corpse.
There's not really themes to the vampires in Jojo's. Dio and Jonathan themselves represent duality, but like... vampire are not Un-Dead in Phantom Blood. They're just... hyper-evolved humans? How the Stone Mask works is that it pierces specific areas of the brain to crack some evolutionary code and give you cool powers at the cost of not being able to walk about in the sunlight. People who are turned using blood tend to become ravenous monsters or have to serve the vampire whose blood turned them, but those turned with the mask retain free will.
Dio can fucking... make his blood so cold that he can trap people's entire bodies in ice. He gets sliced in half with a cool sword and walks it off. His entire body is destroyed by Hamon but he cuts off his own head and places it on Jonathan's body. It's fucking wild, and I refuse to give Dracula that power. Also, anyone who turns into a vampire turns young immediately, no need to drink blood. I honestly still don't know why Jojo vampires even drink blood. I think it's just to be edgy. Nothing can kill these fucking cockroaches except stands and Hamon... and sometimes the vampires have stands... and sometimes the vampires have Hamon. And that's illegal, but it's happened more than once.
I'VE GONE ON A TANGENT.
THE GIST OF IT IS MAYBE JUST-- WOULDN'T IT BE COOL IF, ON TOP OF HIS KHUKURI, JONATHAN COULD BREATHE ON DRACULA AND KILL HIM IN AN INSTANT??
There, I said it.

Okay than, I’ll shoot my shot;
How would Alucard react to or treat an Empath?
My OC, Angel, is a witch and an Empath. An Empath is someone who can fully interpret the emotions, moods, and temperaments of others without reading apparent symptoms, allowing them to understand introverts or discover one emotion is actually hiding another. Some users may learn to read emotional imprints left into environment or objects. Usually over time, an Empath's power grows to the point that they can manipulate emotions in others, and possibly use them to empower themselves.
Angel is an eccentric, emotional, kind, and ‘too smart for her own good’ intelligent black teenage girl and confesses to being kind of crazy. And by her own admission, has a soft spot for monsters. Angel speaks her mind, even if it may sound crazy or strange to others, with her signature Mona Lisa smile followed by her usual series of airy giggles and is a very touchy feely person when she gets comfortable with someone, which is often when she first meets them due to her deep understanding of people.
She has ‘Hellsing: Abridged’ mixed with ‘Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt’ dub humor and is always wearing her Mona Lisa smile and is always giggling about something. She is loosely based off of Delirium from ‘The Sandman’ and Winter from the ‘Lunar Chronicles.’
In my slowly - very slowly - progressing story, Angel figures out that Alucard is or was Count Dracula when they first met and even pointed it out by playfully calling him ‘Count Dracula’ and wasn’t shy about teasing him in good fun.
~ When she starts getting comfortable around him, she would lean against him or causally play with his gorgeous hair or steal his hat and sunglasses and wear them on herself.
~ Angel is very much a modern teen and teases Alucard about being an old man and even calls him a ‘boomer’ when he remakes on certain modern things such as Angel’s eccentric sense of fashion or her technology or her unorthodox way of doing things.
~ She calls his little late night walks his ‘eldritch zoomies.’
~ She refers to the medical blood packs he’s always sucking on his ‘caprisuns.’
~ She also gave him the nickname ‘Al’ and called him ‘Allie’ when he’s being particularly snowflaky. Or if he’s being an asshole she’ll call him the ‘Crimson Fucker’ (shoutout Team Fourstar!).
Because she is an Empath, she knows what goes on beneath what Alucard chooses to show to others and brings up his troubles only when they are alone and knows his internal struggles and mechanisms. And due to her abilities, and only under certain circumstances, Angel can blanket her presence around Alucard as a way of calming him down like a heated weighted blanket.
Despite her love for the modern age she was born into, Angel is a bit of an old soul though, she loves the vintage jazz vinyl records that she inherited from her mother and due to the resources she has access to due to her family and her being a witch, can talk about certain archaic and ancient historical subjects for hours, usually about certain things that she shouldn’t know or that most people would understand.
Basically, they’re two chaotic peas in a pod and have a very strange relationship.
As you can see, it’s a lot but i this is the compacted version but I just needed to geek out about my OC to someone and get your opinion since you’re a bloody genius when it comes to having a deeper understanding of Alucard and Hellsing lore in general.
Thank you for your compliments! I'm glad my thoughts resonate!
Your character is really interesting, and she has a lot in common with mine so I do have some thoughts for you regarding someone with clairsentient abilities. So if we figure it exists in a literal sense in the Hellsing verse, I think he would steer clear of her as soon as he learned she was an Empath, while acting as casually as he can of course. Being close enough to touch him would not be comfortable for him. He works very hard to conceal all those pesky thoughts and feelings so nobody knows they exist. I also believe it would be very difficult to get a read on Alucard himself, because he is a hive of consciousnesses and their memories and feelings. I think it would take an empath a duration of time with enough interaction with him to start to pick out a pattern of the feelings that came up when they were near each other, and narrow down what seemed the most likely to be Alucard's own feelings.
He'd probably react in anger the first time she brought up his feelings on a matter, and would probably be rude for a while. The strongest feeling he would be radiating would be, I think, that of a wolf cornered by a hunter.
I think initially he'd be very firm about not talking about anything she gets from him that isn't a conscious, verbal sharing of information. Not to him, or especially anyone else. Eventually, once that boundary has been respected, he'd start to open up to her. But I think he would hate the idea of having his feelings manipulated and I don't see him letting up on that. I love the idea of your oc earning his trust so he can have somebody just to hang out and just be himself with. He'd be the coolest best friend. And you can bet if he trusts her that much, he'd go to war for her. He loves jazz music! He'll share old records of his from the first half of the 20th century. He loved American music, and he would tell her about all the legendary black artists that gave us the evolution of music into what we know it to be now. Of course he gushes about Screamin' Jay Hawkins. My OC is an anthropologist and specializes in occult and mysticism! So our characters have in common that they can talk about such things with Alucard, and I think Alucard would really enjoy being able to talk about things from history without having to give context to everything or explain what he was talking about. I have a headcanon that he would text both oc's with a random picture and tell them to blazon it as Heraldry. They text each other back and forth doing this when they're bored. Or whenever they see something weird.
#this was fun because Alva is clairsentient especially by means of touch#so i had plenty of thoughts to pull from#thanks for the ask!#alucard hc#oc

What is some good vampire media i. Like just came to the realization that I don’t know much. Finishing Dracula and watching the movie soon, watched the Netflix castlevania and i wanna watch iwtv soon (both of them)! I ask because I trust ur taste :-]
AH Hi! Feeling very honored that you trust my taste aha
I hope you enjoy Interviw with The Vampire and whichever Dracula movie youre watching! There is certainly no shortage of Dracula movies out there for one, both actual attempts at adapting the book and otherwise. There is literally (at least) one for every year from 1969-1979 lol so if you dig 70s stuff that’s certainly something to explore.
Obviously there’s vampire stuff out there in a range of aesthetics and subgenres, so I’m gonna try to cover a little variety of vibes off the top of my head, and hopefully one of these things is in your preferred flavor of vampire :)
unorganized list with brief synonsis’ under the cut
As for serious vampire series the only thing that comes to mind rn are some anime/manga. Vampire Hunter D is a light novel series with two anime film adaptations. The newer one, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (2000) is like an all-time favorite animated movie for mine. D is an angsty half-vampire vampire hunter, and it’s also set in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi/fantasy world. Really good mix of more traditional vampire lore with science fiction elements. Vampirism is implied to be the effects of a plague that swept earth as well as like a magical affliction in this.
Trinity Blood is a similar post-apocalyptic hard sci-fi/fantasy mix. Leaning more on the gothic fantasy side. It’s set in a world where we’ve gone back to the Catholic church being the dominate like governing force, so the main character Abel is (again an angsty half-vampire vampire hunter) a funny little priest man. The vampires are like really demon/angel vibes in this, but are also implied to be the result of intermingling with an alien species that humanity fought pre-apocalypse, if I remember correctly. I havn’t read or watched any of this since high school so it might suck now lol
The Hellsing manga/Hellsing Ultimate OVA. An all time fav of mine, but I also havnt reread any since high school so, again, it may suck now lol. This one is more modern than anything traditional fantasy. It’s set in the 90s and centered around Abraham Van Helsing’s (great?) granddaughter, Integra, running a vampire-hunting organization, with thee Dracula now calling himself Alucard (lol) as her weird devoted man-slave. The villains are undead nazis who have come back to take over the world after scientifically achieving vampirism in the pursuit of immortality. So it’s basically like Dracula and his cool lesbian boss fight vampire nazis … with guns. It’s good stupid fun. And Alucard is a really good example of vampire character who is both a gleeful killing machine and a miserable “I regret the loss of my humanity and the fact that I can never die” poor little meow meow type.
And in non-serious and non-anime (lol) there’s also the What We Do in The Shadows TV show which I’ve seen best described as “what if vampires were gay and stupid”, pokes good fun a lot of common vampire media tropes. And the characters are great. The 2014 movie is the same premise, but different characters.
Some other movies I might recommend are Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1974) cheesy 70s movie but has some really great exploration of lesser-discussed vampire lore; the main vampire antagonist doesn’t drink blood but drains youth with a kiss, can have their hypnotic power projected back at them with a reflected surface, and causes dead animals to come back to life when passing over them in the ground, etc. It’s also got fantasic sword fighting scenes, and really fun characters. Kronos in particular is definitely supposed to be a mysterious badass type, but he really just comes off as a socially awkward loveable weirdo. He’s super strange and he smokes weed lol. Set in like a mid-19th century fantasy germanic country.
Lost Boys (1987) or Blade (1998) for more edgy modern vampires. Both movies are stupid. Lost Boys is fun for the vamp characters which are southern Californian teenage biker gang members (gay). and Blade is fun because it’s just so bad it’s good, it’s a movie to be watched for laughs, with vampires who are just like goths that go to blood raves and sit around in suits in fancy rooms. Blade himself is also another angsty half-vampire vampire hunter (I’m realizing I’m fond of this type of character lol).
And finally if you’re looking for something more similar to the Dracula novel, I think I can only recommend Le Fanu’s Carmilla. Older and shorter than Dracula and perhaps a little less exciting, but a solid classic in vampire literature (and lesbian literature), and has a lot of its own adaptations ranging from serious to silly as well.
#I confess I actually havnt seen the netflix Castlevania! I should change that. I saw maybe like two and half random episodes in college#also integra van helsing is not canonically a lesbian btw. but she is in my heart <3#ANYWAY. this is by no means an exhaustive list of vamp stuff I've seen/read and would recommend. so do feel free to let me know if there's#a specific vibe/era/subgenre you're seeking and I can totally give you more :)#asks

I know I sent you the post I made but like I can't not talk more about this because I need to be feral:
I don't have these but the moment you unlock the equipment index thing you can view everything even if you don't have them. descriptions and all. So I started looking at stuff to see if anything like corresponded to specific characters and/or had Lore and like the super epic shxt is like weird in general and I'm not far enough into the game to be able to know if it's like. Got an obvious explanation yet or not.
Whatever's going on here though like. The description is like 100% confirming I think that there are just more "traditional" cookie-vampires.
"a certain count with a penchant for fresh strawberry jam" "lives alone in a secluded castle" "dwelling in the shadows" This is so obviously A VAMPIRE and nothing related to Vampire Cookie. Fudging.. (Thinking back once again to Devil Cookie's "Count Dracula" costume in Ovenbreak which. Now that I think about it didn't that also kinda confirm or at least imply something like this- like obviously that was a silly Halloween costume based on a real-life novel but still-)
Like. Yeah this is 100% A Vampire AND VAMPIRE COOKIE IS RELATED TO THAT SHXT ONE WAY OR ANOTHER it's baked into the design.
Like. I have so much on my brain rn because of this I don't know how to put it all into words I spent like an hour I think writing this ask I didn't keep track idk I just kept writing deleting rewriting trying to condense my thoughts down-
it boosts dark. Alchemist is dark. To our knowledge she isn't also a vampire but like her literal goddamn brother is one and when the other dark characters are Dark Choco (has an evil cursed sword, is that same element in CRK, generally edgy/brooding) and Werewolf (literal werewolf/supernatural creature, also edgy/brooding), like. Outside of "sometimes unhinged/unethical experiments" and "contrasts Wizard being Light" then I think "her brother is a Vampire" is as good of a reason as any but like- the connection with the element idk I just-
Alchemist comes home one day wearing these djdjdjdkdkdd-
I can't contain all of my brainrot in words can you like. I just. I hope this means Something like the sheer implication that cookie vampires exist more than just Vampire Cookie himself and that they do in fact drink blood/strawberry jam it's like. The fact Vampire isn't in the game at launch when he's always been like a staple character for this series feels kinda ominous like it feels like SOMETHING is just. Idk being planned i guess?- I mean he wasn't in puzzle world but puzzle world is like. People don't rally talk about that game y'know-
You get what I mean right? Is it just me? I haven't exactly been in this fandom as long as some others, just like two or three years now I think, so maybe I'm missing something but. Like. I just have a feeling in my gut that SOMETHING's gonna happen and I don't know exactly WHAT it is but-
OMG HELP I ONLY SAW THIS AS I TAKE MY BREAK GRAHHHHHH
umm i dont want to respond much but lime. SOMETHING better happen omg.
#also I was going to joke “alchemist lives alone in the cave?? or near it?? given how vamp isnt at all in chapter 4-5 whats if its her/j”#but then you contemplated it grrr!!!

a dracula book review.
ok team yk what this world really, really, really needs. from me specifically.
A DRACULA BOOK REVIEW
dun dun dun. we will be looking into bram stoker’s original 1897 edition which I vaguely pirated online but it is ok!! because copyright is over (if u wanna read use this link here: https://www.bramstoker.org/pdf/novels/05dracula.pdf)
so on one hand Dracula is an icon. but on the other hand the novel was written by an Englishman in the 19th century. I went into this thing not knowing what to think and honestly idk what I expected but it was mid. that is my claim and my thesis. the characters are like grain crackers without cheese. the plot is okay and vaguely interesting but not enough to carry the mounds of dialogue and description that you sloooooooooooog through. but if it helps Dracula is kinda hot. (disclaimer: this opinion depends on your taste)
the beginning has all of the trappings of gothic horror. man goes to creepy abandoned house. man meets creepy suspicious guy. creepy suspicious guy is creepy and suspicious. boohoo yadda yadda. the protagonist figures out that Dracula is very sus within the first few weeks, since man is less subtle than the worst amongus imposter. at this point we’re like fifty pages in and I’m fearing spending the next three hundred pages reading about Dracula and the protag running around in circles. luckily that doesn’t happen and the plot actually moves out of dracula’s castle at a pretty quick pace. this is commendable: the antagonist is quickly introduced in an interesting manner and after this little tutorial we have enough knowledge to confirm that Dracula is the bad guy. this was likely pretty important for first-time Dracula readers back in 1897, when vampires were less mainstream and you couldn’t identify one by his elongated fangs and how he literally goes “When the Count saw my [bleeding] face, his eyes blazed with a sort of demoniac fury, and he suddenly made a grab at my throat.” again, man is unsubtle.
as a quick aside there are some interpretations of Dracula as embodying “transgressive but compelling sexuality” (from Jeffrey Jerome Cohen’s monster culture (seven theses) if anyone is curious) which I find hilarious and can definitely make a reading more interesting. you’re welcome.
ok now that the intro is over we get acquainted with the rest of the characters and let me tell you they are dryyyyyyyyy. to make my point I will now rank them from most to least uninteresting.
Arthur Holmwood: man is literally just there to mourn his fiancée and act as a big strong man to increase the anti-Dracula attack force. only thing he brings to the plot is 1. money 2. he is attached to his fiancée I guess. 3/10.
Jonathan Harker: our MC who is vaguely an audience insert and as per such reacts averagely to anything. his character does almost nothing surprising. you see a lot of the story (especially the beginning) through his eyes so you do get familiar with him in that way but he is an utter milquetoast. 3.5/10
Quincey Morris: an unmarried American version of Arthur. he is kinda cooler in that he has a personality. “American” isn’t much of a personality but Arthur doesn’t seem to have one at all so he wins. 3.5/10
Lucy Westenra: ok she is not boring (if only because of all the stuff that happens to her) but she is so goddamn annoying. she seems like a little doll who doesn’t do anything despite everything occurring and can only wait for people to rescue her which is infuriating at best. does not pass the sexy lamp test. 4/10
Dracula: weird evil man who has weird evil motives. his lack of nuance is a shame since the novel does mention interesting lore about him like how he lives on “the ground fought over for centuries by the Wallachian, the Saxon, and the Turk” and how “In some faculties of mind he has been, and is, only a child.” but it's not explored and in the end he’s just a villain who kills because he needs to kill to survive. a shame. 5/10
John Seward: ok he actually has like. unique feelings about what is happening. his romantic interest for Lucy v. not being able to marry her v. his distaste for vampires is kinda entertaining, or at least more entertaining than whatever Arthur has going on. he makes some unique actions (for instance, calling Van Helsing) that make him seem more reliable 6/10
Mina nee Murray Harker:
she is cool but severely undermined by how sexist the book is. 6.5/10
Abraham Van Helsing: ok he is cool if only because he has all the puzzle pieces (apparently) and actually seems to know what’s going on but it has to be acknowledged that his reluctance to explain what he knows screws people over. 1/10 teammate 6.5/10
Renfield: his personality is nothing to write home about but what happens to him is the most interesting thing by far. 7/10
u need to spend a lot of time with these characters since the story is told from their perspectives. the storytelling method is also really interesting—it’s told in first-person via the characters’ journals, audio recordings, and diaries, which is admittedly clever. the method that a character uses to record their thoughts is also indicative of their personality and profession. Mina uses a typewriter since she wants to be a secretary. I really like this aspect of Dracula. unfortunately, the plot and characters are still something you have to trudge through. the plot itself is a typical adventure gung-ho “let’s go defeat the villain” type beat, which isn’t particularly inspiring. Dracula’s supernatural abilities also seem utterly random, which makes the mystery of “what does Dracula do??” significantly less interesting since turning into a tornado and sucking blood doesn’t seem to be related at all. why bother predicting this character’s powers if they’re completely absurd? a shounen battle anime could do better (Naruto-excluded).
TL;DR: Dracula is mid. it is 357 pages of dried bread characters, an average plot, and not even that terrifying gothic horror. read it if you want, it’s a classic, but honestly it’s not really worth it. #sorrydraculafans

@huntmom asked: "You're safe here. You can rest now." from the escaping imminent danger meme forever ago yikes i'm sorry
her eyelids were heavy, but her heart was still pounding. it had probably been over an hour since jody had saved her ass, but time hadn't taken away any of the terror that had consumed her in the moments before she heard the dull thud of the vampire's head hitting the ground mere inches from her feet. six months, jessica had been back for six months and while she had honed in on her fighting skills, she had realized tonight that no matter how good she got at fighting the monsters superior strength and speed would overshadow her in an instant when coupled with the unanticipated. this time, she had underestimated the size of the nest and was ambushed by two vampires that had been infuriated to walk in on their three coven mates dead at her hands. she had already picked off another three of them when she'd caught them alone within the last couple of days. two in the park, another in the alleyway behind the bar, and a final one she had followed back to the nest. she hadn't seen the two that had ambushed her at all in her surveillance of the nest to prepare for a more targeted attack as she wasn't too sure what size to expect when it came to a group of vampires.
being bitten wasn't enough to turn her, the woman had assured her after offering to take her back to her place to bandage jess up. there was some inconsistent lore on that and jessica had been panicking since the moment she felt the tear of her flesh by the mouthful of terrifyingly sharp teeth of the large male vampire. nothing like the two dracula fangs that were commercialized in movies and halloween costumes. ❝ i think i'm still too wired to relax... and i don't want to put you out. ❞ she trusted jody and not only because she had quite literally saved her life, but the woman put off the most calming and helpful energy. something about her made jess yearn for an interaction with her mother past watching her from a distance to ensure that she was safe and enjoying some of her life, but that could expose her family to the dangers of all of this. she hadn't had any interactions with anyone that passed surface level since her resurrection. six long months of being torn between wanting to avoid dragging anyone else into this and the ever-growing suffocation of isolation. the latter having enough of an effect on her that she had agreed to lay on the woman's couch, not quite enoguh to stop the refusal of the offer to a spare bedroom.
❝ do you think there's more of them? they'll have my scent. and yours. ❞ the fear of demons coming after her to grab her and use her against sam always weighed heavy on her mind. this was a main motivation behind how she'd kept to herself. now jody might have some vengeful vampires coming for her head on top of that. the already forming tidal wave of guilt was starting to form, her throat tightened nearly making jessica feel breathless, and there wasn't the slightest sign of trouble or anyone tailing her since she had come back. that was the most confusing part. tears started to sting in her eyes, but she pressed them shut and tried to reign it back, no need to break down in front of the stranger; she had already done so much for her. ❝ they could always be arrogant enough to come after us, despite finding five corpses left behind in their nest. ❞
