I'm sure I won't be the first to point this out but I really admire the way Halsey was able to create songs which were explicitly inspired by certain artists without ever once losing the ineffable essence that makes her art hers. I'm not on instagram so I missed the whole parade of influences thing - I got that the gist of the album would be this sort of muddle of identities and eras but didn't know each song would have a specific influence. Listening to the album without the full context, I appreciated the scope of its diversity but I never once felt like anything was a copy or an inauthentic expression. It felt strangely cohesive in its chaos and most of all it was, quintessentially, a Halsey album. It's fascinating how, in leaning so hard into this idea of impersonation, they actually proved more than ever what an incredibly distinctive artist (and human being) they are.

3 ☾ Party / Denki Kaminari !!
Tumblr media
DAY THREE OF FLUFFTOBER!
Summary
- "You new around here?" "I'm in your math class."
flufftober masterlist!
Tumblr media
Parties were never your thing. You'd much rather spend your time lost in the library, trying your hardest not to fail and lose your scholarships to attend the prestigious U.A. Academy. But this time you were dragged by your close friend Mina Ashido to Yaoyorozu's house party. With a heavy sigh, you walked over to the corner because Mina split from you the second you entered the house. You sat on the couch separated from everyone else. There were a few faces you recognized, but you weren't close enough with anyone to actually talk to them. So you sat in silence and brushed your fingers through Yaoyorozu's cat's fur.
"I shouldn't have come, pretty girl," You cooed to the feline. "Mina is too much of a butterfly to stay and talk to me. Plus, she deserves to have fun." You had a soft smile on your face as you thought about your friend.
A boy with striking blonde hair approached you, he had a red solo cup in his hand and a bright grin on his face. "Hey! You new around here?"
You squint your eyes at the blonde, "I'm in your math class."
Immediately his face drops and flushes in embarrassment. "Oh," He rubbed his neck nervously. "Sorry, the lighting is weird. I just didn't recognize you!"
You hummed and continued petting the cat. "it's okay. I don't talk a lot so I don't blame you for not remembering me."
Kaminari's eyes sparkled and he sat beside you, "Well, I love talking! We should talk!" You looked at him reproachfully before a small, indiscernible smile crossed your face for a second.
'I must look really lonely,' you mused in your head. "Okay, what should we talk about?" Kaminari placed a finger to his chin in thought. He had set his cup down (but still in sight) and his other hand trailed through the cat's fur along with you. "Why don't you tell me about yourself?" You offered.
"You'd wanna listen to that?" He asked in astonishment, surprised you-- who was basically a stranger-- would want to listen to him. You nodded passively and gestured for him to start.
20 minutes later, you could recite his favorite things, childhood stories, and interests. Every word he said was soaked into your brain like it was the most important thing in the world. "You're nice to talk to," he said with sincerity.
The party lights shined on his face in a beautiful array of colors. They illuminated the boyish grin plastered on his lips and his charming yellow eyes, which were locked on your own. You couldn't bring yourself to look away. "Well, you're nice to listen to," You replied as smoothly as you could.
His grin widened, "I'm glad you think so. We should hang out again sometime. You know, alone, together, not at a party."
Immediately, almost eagerly, you nodded. "Oh yeah, for sure! Like a date, maybe?"
Kaminari chuckled, "Yeah, like a date. I'll talk your ear off again."
You smiled, "I'd really like that."

Writing Prompt 1 - "But i love you"
Bill and Ford are snuggling together on the couch while the genius rambles about his new anomaly discovery that he's now documenting in his Journal. He discovered that the anomaly is usually found in Scotland and now the researcher wonders about whenever he'll be able to study creatures outside the confines of Gravity Falls. Ford then decides to confront his triangular husband about this,although he wasn't expecting his reaction. "Bill,i'm just wondering.. can i travel outside of Oregon by myself one day?. I want to see other anomalies besides the ones i find in Gravity Falls similarly to the selkie i just told you about. I won't be gone for long though as i wouldn't be able to stand being away from you for a while,my dear muse-." Ford says but then the triangle chimes before he could finish.
"NO! YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME!." Bill exclaims as flames appear from his hands after he made it very clear that he won't let his genius abandon him. "B-But it will only be for a few weeks or months-." Ford splutters, getting a bit scared of his husband's change in behavior as he tries to reach his hands toward the isosceles in order to calm him down only for Bill to scald his wrist with his flaming palm before he could finish his sentence as he groaned in pain.
"Listen here,Fordsy. You,CANNOT leave my sight no matter what. I need you. I'll be lonely and sad without you. Please." Bill remarks as he tried to look as pathetic as possible with his pleading eye,pulling the guilt tripping card in order to get the genius to stay. Ford looks at him in disbelief over his feigned pitiful stare,not having any of the isosceles' attempts to keep him from pursuing his desires. He then roughly takes his hand away from Bill's flaming hand as he blows on the scorching wound before glaring at his husband.
"You can't keep me here forever,Bill. I have dreams,i have my own wants and desires. I'm not just some pet that will stay here and sit pretty for you. I'm a person. You can't control me. Heh. Honestly,i thought that since you're my husband,you'd support me. But you're just like everyone else,fake and HOLLOW!." Ford yells as he laughs bitterly from discovering that his dear husband is just as shallow as everyone else in the Perfect World,Bill feels his rage growing by the minute but then he realizes that getting angrier would just lead his genius further away from him.
So he decides to act calmer and try to appeal to the man's love for him instead. "But i love you,Fordsy. You can't leave,when i'm the only one who'll take care of you out there." Bill says as he feels himself become more peaceful after burying his anger,the fire from his hands dissipating as well while hiding his desperate desire to keep Ford to himself.
"You may claim to love me,but all you want is control. You don't really love me as your husband,you love me as a dumb PET." Ford replied bitterly as he then gets up from the couch and walks away as he turned his back on his triangular husband,taking his ring off as he doesn't view the isosceles as his husband anymore after seeing that said husband just thinks of him as a plaything with his desire to control him as well as the fact that he never lets him go out of state unless it's on HIS terms meaning that he won't ever be able to leave except for when Bill himself warrants it. Bill then starts panicking as he saw the man try to leave and walk away from him,not knowing what to do except for desperately plead for him to not go. "W-Wait!. Stop!. I-I'll go with you!. Don't leave me!." Bill exclaims as he started to tear up,big fat tears coming out of his eye as he saw his beloved leave. Then he had an idea,an awful wonderful idea. He just needed to erase his memory of the argument again like he did when he claimed the man as his husband before creating the Perfect World. The triangle then floats over to Ford as he attempts to touch his forehead,with the genius resisting his grip as he tried to move away from his former muse only for him to stop once Bill has gotten ahold of his mind. "Don't touch me!-." Ford shouts but then he gets put into a disoriented daze as he calms down from the triangle slowly erasing his memory of the argument as his furious expression changes into a tranquil bliss. "There you go.. That's it. Just let your dear husband take care of this." Bill remarks as he then grabs the memory of their argument from the man's mind which is in the form of a physical photographic representation of it,burning it in his hand as he completely erased the memory from Ford's mind. Ford then goes limp like a ragdoll after Bill lets go of him,as he feels quite relaxed and tired all of a sudden after his husband touched his head. "My dear muse.. i'm sleepy. I think i need some rest.." Ford says groggily as he then almost falls from how tired he is but the triangle catches him before he hurt himself. "Okay. Let's get you to bed,sweetheart." Bill replied as he grinned while carrying the man to the bedroom so he could get some rest,knowing that his plan to make his genius stay worked.

Cause Baby You're My Muse [Chapter 46]
Tumblr media
Genre: Romance, Idol!AU, Music, Slight angst
Pairing: Mingi x Reader (y/n)
Characters: Producer!Reader, IdolLyricist!Mingi, IdolProducer!Hongjoong, Idol!Seonghwa, Idol!Yunho, Idol!Wooyoung, Idol!San, Idol!Yeosang, Idol!Jongho, cameo(s) by other celebrities
Summary: You always preferred producing underground, having an unknown face and governed by your own rules. But when you start freelancing for idol groups, you say goodbye to your lone wolf lifestyle as you learn to work with idol producers and lyricists.
Word count: 3.2K
After meeting with CEO Kim and the legal team at KQ, then going to th police station to give your statement, you entered your apartment with an exhausted sigh. You were tired and drained, you couldn't even unpack your luggage.
'I'll work from home for the next 3 days. - Indigo'
'I think that's a good idea. You should really rest, Indigo. You were working even when we were there. There's no need to rush back to work. - Eden'
You were grateful that Eden was there with you the entire time through everything today, supporting you and accompanying you since none of the Ateez boys were there. He truly cared for you, not just as a senior but as a friend as well.
'I'm home. Going to sleep after to take the day off just like I promised. - Baby'
You sent Mingi a text and left your phone to go shower since you wanted to sleep. Leaning against the wall of the shower, you thought about the events of the day.
Maybe you didn't want to sleep. After your shower, you unpacked your bags and unpacked the miscellaneous boxes from your move.
'We're having a short break now. I already miss you, I'll see you tomorrow. Sleep well, baby. - Mings'
Getting changed into a fresh set of outing clothes, you check the train schedule on your phone before leaving the house. You've never taken this train to late before but you knew your heart needed it.
"One ticket, please." You went to the counter.
"Good evening, ahjumma." You greeted as you walked up the steps to the orphanage. She cast you a glance but gave an acknowledging nod. Digging around your bag, you took the envelope of money out and handed it to her. As she looked at the contents, you walked past her and headed inside.
"There's extra dinner in the kitchen." You heard her say as you removed your shoes to go in. Some children were watching a movie on the large projector but Haneul wasn't there.
"Hey there. Do you know where Haneul is?" You asked one of the older looking children.
"Her room." He replied. You went upstairs, leaning against the door as you saw Haneul on her bed, drawing with her crayons.
"Baby." You called out.
"Unnie!" Haneul yelled and jumped off the bed, running towards you. You scooped her up in your arms, spinning around while she laughed. You needed this, you needed to see her.
"You're home. I missed you." She giggled as you set her back down. You hugged her properly.
"I missed you too, baby. So much." You whispered. Haneul was a constant in your life, your touch of normalcy. With everything happening, the threats keeping you away from her, you felt yourself losing that normalcy.
"Did you buy me any presents?" Haneul asked. You pulled away, placing a hand on her head. Of course, she was only a kid, all she thought about were gifts.
"I got you this." You got the stuffed giraffe out for her.
"This is like princess oppa!" She giggled, hugging the giraffe to her chest. You forgot she called Mingi 'big princess'.
"I miss princess oppa and bear oppa." She pouted, shoulders deflating as she remembered the boys. You smiled softly and reached out to stroke her hair.
"He misses you too. All the oppas do." You comforted.
You sat on Haneul's small bed with her perched in your lap. You listened intently as she excitedly showed you all the drawings that she did, including the ones that she wanted to give to boys when she saw them again. She also told you all the things that she has been doing in school.
"You won first place?! That's my girl!" You smiled excitedly as she showed you the ribbon she won during her school's sports meet. Your praise only made her smile grow.
"I want to show oppas!" She jumped up and down.
"You do? I'm sure they will be happy." The time difference wasn't major so you texted the boys if they were available for a quick video call with her.
'For the little bear, we are always available. - Jongho'
'Aww look at the maknae. The kiddo's got you wrapped around her finger. - Wooyoung'
'As if you aren't a sucker for her. - Jongho'
You dialled Jongho's number and it only took a few rings for him to pick up. All the boys tried to squeeze close to him to see the screen but Jongho, not one for skinship, squirmed uncomfortably. He pushed them away.
"But I can't see!" San whined. You sighed and handed the phone to Haneul. She waved shyly to them.
"I won a ribbon! Because... I ran very super fast!" She excitedly showed them.
"WOWWWWW!" The chorus of loud awes and praises were heard on the other end. You couldn't help but laugh as Haneul soaked up all the love from the 8 boys.
"That's amazing! What a pretty ribbon." Yeosang had his face right in front to see the ribbon properly.
"Good job, little bear. I'll give you a prize when I get back to Korea." Jongho promised. Haneul's eyes lit up as she looked at you.
"Jongho, you don't have to..."
"I know I don't have to. But I want to, Indigo. She deserves a present for doing well." Jongho chuckled. You prompted Haneul to say thank you to him.
"Yay, present! Thank you, bear oppa! I love you the most!" Haneul opened pandora's box with that one innocent statement. Because the other 7 protested loudly, all competitively trying to offer presents and bribes to the 5 year old. You face palmed, shaking your head as they tried to be the one Haneul loves the most.
"Okay, I'm taking this back. You're all being too loud, you're scaring the poor girl." You frowned, scolding them. Haneul curiously peeked over the top of the screen before crawling back into your lap.
"We're both princesses right? So we're best friends." Mingi was still trying despite what you said.
"Look who suddenly likes the princess nickname." You rolled your eyes. Yunho snickered, he was the originator after all.
"I love all the oppas." She scratched her head.
"You can love whoever you want, baby. If you want to love bear oppa the most, you can too. Or you can not love any of them." You told her, kissing her temple.
"Hey!"
"Don't encourage her!" More protests came from the boys after hearing what you said. Since you selfishly wanted to spend more time with Haneul before bed time, you hung up with the boys, promising Mingi to call him later.
"But I can't go home with you today?" Haneul pouted as she held onto your sleeve.
"I'm sorry, baby. Not today. Soon, I promise." You shook your head.
"Okay but next time, can we stay with the oppas?" She asked hopefully. It made you soft seeing how much Haneul really adored being with the boys.
"Only if they're not busy." You lightly pinched her cheek. She nodded and pinky promised with you.
"Let's sit together before I go, alright?" You held your hand out. She slipped her hand into yours and followed you out.
You didn't want to leave her just yet so while the other kids were put to bed, you sat in the kitchen with Haneul in your lap as you ate the food that ahjumma left you for dinner. Haneul was more than willing to stay up with you. She hugged the stuffed giraffe, deciding to name it 'Mingming', named after Mingi.
"Are you hungry? Want some?" You held a spoon out to Haneul. She shook her head. You wanted to eat slowly but you knew ahjumma was waiting for you to leave to lock up the place.
"I already brushed my teeth." She said, frowning slightly as she focused on fiddling with Mingming.
"As you should." You patted her head.
"I'm full." You moved Haneul off your lap as you gathered the dishes and brought them to the sink to wash. As you washed the dishes, you felt Haneul lean against your leg.
"You need something, baby?" You stopped to look down at her.
"No, I just want to be with you." She replied, kicking her feet around. You hummed and finished doing the dishes, putting them on the drying rack.
"I'll tuck you in before I go." You said to Haneul. She pouted, unhappy that you were leaving. But she didn't say anything, obediently holding your hand as you walked back upstairs with her. You tucked her under the covers, making sure she was hugging her toys.
"I love you so much." You whispered and kissed your forehead. She held onto your hand.
"Please don't go..." She said sadly.
"I'll take you home with me soon, hmm? I promise. But I'll be here until you fall asleep." You gave her another kiss. Sitting at the edge of the bed, you patted her back.
You watched Haneul try to fight off the sleep but she was too tired, eventually falling asleep.
"Goodnight, baby. I love you more than you know." You said softly. Casting her one last glance, you left the orphanage.
"Sorry for keeping you up, ahjumma. I'll be on my way now, goodnight." You bowed to the lady who was watching television. Quickly, you wore your shoes and left.
"It's never been this hard..." You sighed and looked up to stop your tears from falling. Taking a deep breath, you wore your mask and pulled your hoodie up before making your way to the train station to take the late night train home. You listened to music to try and distract yourself.
'Hey, Indigo. Are you free to talk now? - Jongho'
'Jongho. Yes, I am. I'm on the train, coming back from Haneul... Honestly, I could use the distraction. - Indigo'
'Are you alright? - Jongho'
'I am, don't worry. Today just felt a little harder leaving her than usual. I guess I haven't seen her in such a long time that I wished I had more time to spend with her. - Indigo'
'I understand, that's normal. It's harder that you can't bring her to stay with you like you usually do. - Jongho'
'It is all for her safety. I'd rather her be angry with me than to selfishly put her in harm's way. - Indigo'
'Speaking of, I wanted to ask how the progress of the meeting with the authorities and the KQ legal team went. If you don't mind me asking. - Jongho'
'I don't mind at all. So I went to KQ first, I met with them and the CEO, they walked me through the process. Pressing charges for assault and harrassment against Seyoon. Just in case Seyoon wants to take the case to court and fight it, what the plan is. - Indigo'
'Alright. - Jongho'
'And I'll have to be there is Seyoon decides to press charges against Mingi for assault too. After that, Eden followed me to the police station to give my statement. - Indigo'
'I don't mean to scare you, Indigo. But... do you think Seyoon has to do with the threats you've been receiving? - Jongho'
'I... I never thought about that. - Indigo'
'It's just a speculation. Since he tried de-masking you. Did he make any pass or mention being suspicious about you and Mingi hyung at all? - Jongho'
'No. Yes, de-masking me was one thing. But he seemed like he was just a bad case of toxic narcissim in the way he wanted me to accept his apology and then apologise to him. - Indigo'
'I see. Let's hope this was an isolated incident then. I'm glad that you agreed to pressing charges against Seyoon and that he is rightfully dealt with by the authorities. But at the same time, that means the person sending death threats is still out there and they are working in our company. - Jongho'
'I'll be okay, Jongho. - Indigo'
'I hate this. It feels like we're sitting around and waiting for things to worsen before we're able to take action. - Jongho'
'This is your safety at stake. I'm sure Seonghwa hyung feels the same way as me. - Jongho'
'But we don't exactly have a choice, I barely know the KQ staff enough to suspect anyone. There haven't been any clues that point to a particular person. - Indigo'
'That's true. We'll discuss this more when we get back. Have a safe trip home. And let us know when you arrive home. - Jongho'
'I will. Thanks, Jongho. - Indigo'
Thankfully, the online back and forth between you and Jongho took up most of the long train ride. From the train station, you took a short bus ride back home. Since you had dinner, you didn't need to try and find an open restaurant to get food.
'I'm finally home. You've all worked hard with the last day of filming. Sleep early and have a safe flight tomorrow, boys. I'll see you guys at the office building. - Indigo'
'Thank you! ^^ - Yunho'
'I miss my bed, this hotel bed isn't good. I think I'll sleep for 2 days when I get home. - Yeosang'
'Yes, we've all worked hard. I love filming and performing but I can't wait to see you again tomorrow. I miss you too much :( - Wooyoung'
'Hey, that's for me to say to her. - Mings'
You chuckled as you went to take a quick shower and do another load of laundry from the trip. After your shower, you sat at your work desk. You wondered if you should call Mingi, he might be packing or asleep since their flight home was rather early. But your question was answered when Mingi called you.
"Hi, baby." Mingi smiled. You propped the phone up in the small phone stand Seonghwa got you. You smiled softly, waving to him. Looks like he also just got out of the shower.
"Are you all packed?" You asked, eyes going between Mingi's face and your monitor screen.
"Mhmm, more or less... It's late, baby. You've had a long day and you're still working?" Mingi raised an eyebrow.
"I couldn't sleep so I thought I might as well catch up on some work. Plus with everything that's going on, work takes my mind off things." You shrugged.
"Alright. But try to get some sleep later, please?" Mingi
"I will. You should sleep too, you have an early flight, Mings." You chuckled. He let out a loud groan.
"Ugh... Nevermind, I'll sleep on the plane. I'd rather stay up to talk to you." He grabbed a pillow to prop the phone up as he got comfortable under the covers. You chewed on your bottom lip, you wanted to be there with Mingi now, warm under the covers.
"I wish you were here, Mings." You sighed.
"I wish I was there with you too, baby. But we'll see each other soon. And we live in the same building so it'll be easier for me to go to you." He chuckled.
"Do you feel better seeing Haneul?" He asked.
"I did. I think I've been away from her for too long... It was nice to just spend time with her again, even if it was for a short amount of time." You smiled at the thought of Haneul.
"That's good. You've been working so hard, baby. I'm glad you have Haneul there to make you feel better." Mingi smiled.
"I have you and Haneul. And the other Ateez boys too." You smiled softly.
"That's right, baby. We'll all always be here. You're never alone." Mingi said. He didn't notice how your smile faltered slightly as you were looking up at your computer screen. After chatting with Mingi, you hung up, wanting him to get some sleep before the flight. Of course he refused.
"I told you I can sleep on the plane. I want to talk to you and spend time with you now." Mingi argued.
"But you still have to look somewhat awake when all the media take pictures and videos of you, Mings. I'll see you tomorrow when you come home." You chuckled.
"I like the sound of that." He grinned. You raised an inquisitive eyebrow at him.
'Wherever you are, that's my home." He explained.
"Cheeseball." You rolled your eyes. Mingi laughed and leaned forward, as if giving you a kiss. You smiled softly, really wishing he was here to give you a real one.
"Promise me you'll go to sleep in a bit?" He gave you a look. You nodded, holding your pinky up as a pinky promise to him.
"I love you, baby. Goodnight." With a triumphant smile, Mingi bid you goodbye and hung up.
You continued working after that, only stopping when you were done with a section of beat. But you did want to stick to your promise with Mingi and sleep so you got up and turned the system off. When you left your studio to make yourself a coffee, you saw the sun rising.
"Sunrise already?" You scratched your head before checking the time on your phone. When you work, you really do lose track of time. You made a coffee and brought it to your bedroom.
It was around 10 am when your doorbell rang. It was unusual since no one really comes to visit you without you knowing.
"Coming." You yawned, going to the door. You checked the peephole and grew surprised.
"Omonim! What brings you here? Let me help you." You scrambled to help Mingi's mother carry some of her bags into your house. She had 3 big bags with her.
"Sorry for popping by out of the blue. Were you sleeping?" She asked.
"Just snoozing." You lied. You went to grab a hair tie from your room to put your hair up into a bun. Mrs Song began unpacking the bags that she had brought, it was all food items.
"I'll be sure to hand them over to Mingi when he comes home." You bowed gratefully.
"Hand them to Mingi? Silly girl, these are for you! I know you've been busy with moving and work so these food should just make sure that you don't go hungry. All you have to do is heat it up. I'm restocking your kimchi and side dishes stash too." She chuckled. You helped her put the cold stuff into the fridge.
"Really? Thank you so much for doing this, omonim. You didn't need to." You bowed repeatedly, not expecting her to do this for you at all. You were touched.
"I know but I wanted to. We're family, (y/n) ah." She smiled softly. You wrapped your arms around her to hug her tightly.
"I'll put these away. In the mean time, can I get you a coffee? Tea?" You offered.
"Coffee would do." She said. You nodded and brewed her a coffee. She sat on the bar stool with her coffee, watching you put all the food she brought into the fridge, ensuring things were neat and tidy.
"It's nice to talk like this without Mingi hovering over your shoulder. The way he sticks to you remind me of how he used to stick to me." She giggled.
"He's protective. And I'm thankful that he cares more about me than I do of my own self." You chuckled.
"We all care about you, (y/n) ah." She reached over to hold your hand.

Case 1 - The missing precious thing
[AO3 VERSION HERE!!]
It wasn’t the first time Ken had been called by Koushiro to do some digimon-related affairs. This was mostly sort of a part-time job, either investigating a digimon case and collecting data… Or simply small tasks like escorting digimon who got lost in the human world back to the Digital World. And some battles caused by misunderstandings between humans and digimon, of course.
He had been doing this since he changed sides, and turned back into his true self. The Dark Seed in his neck was just there dormant… Yet, being the reminder to never be taunted by the dark forces again.
“Let’s see…” Ken mused, reciting what Meramon had told him, “He lost an important ‘thing’ and can't find it…”
“Argh!” Daisuke growled in distress, “We’re not goin’ to find that ‘thing’!! WE LOOKED EVERYWHERE IN THIS PLACE!”
Currently, Wormmon and V-mon were searching in silence, just listening to their partners.
“Easy, Daisuke,” Then V-mon looked at the boys, “I think the ‘thing’ is…”
“Hmm…”
“Hey Ken, stop ‘hmm’ at us!” Daisuke complained, looking into the bushes, “Now help us to search! You’re just standing right there doing NOTHING and leavin’ all the hard work for us!”
“Actually… I know where this ‘thing’ is,” Ken responded with a deadpan face.
“YOU KNOW WHERE IT IS!?” Wormmon, V-mon and Daisuke exclaimed together loudly.
“Yes,” the boy nodded, “Let’s go back.”
“????????”
They returned to the place they were before, the one where Meramon was waiting for them. Ken stood in front of Meramon and cleaned his throat.
“Did you find my precious ‘thing’?” Meramon asked, frowning.
“Yes,” Ken replied with a nod, and then looked behind Meramon. Something shining a few meters away from the digimon was spotted by the boy. The other three looked in the same direction when Ken pointed at it, “It’s right there.”
“W-WHA-WHA-WHA-WHAT!?”
“OH! IT’S IT! MY PRECIOUS PASTA FORK! THANK YOU, CHOSEN CHILDREN!!” Meramon smiled with a glee, and went to pick his precious treasure.
“HOW?! WE LOOKED EVERYWHERE AND IT WAS THERE ALL THIS WHOLE TIME!?” Daisuke hissed, then gave a glare to Ken, “AND YOU DID NOT TELL US BEFORE!?”
“Meramon only said ‘precious thing’, remember? So we didn’t know what it was”  Wormmon replied.
“We’re next to an Italian Restaurant in the Digital World,” Ken started, “so I wondered if it was the lone fork behind Meramon.”
“Next time I need action!” V-mon pouted, “Finding lost things is boring! I’m a man of action, I want to fight bad guys!!”
“Y’know… I like how things are a little peaceful lately” Daisuke commented, “I can come here and enjoy life a little… And then get an S.O.S. call to stop some misunderstanding between a Monochromon and a Pagumon.”
“Case solved, let’s go home” Ken walked back to the Digital Gate, holding Wormmon in his arms. Daisuke and V-mon went right after them.
It’s 6 years after their final showdown against Vamdemon. Daisuke, Takeru and Hikari were attending the same high school, while Miyako and Ken attended other two schools respectively, and Iori was at the final grade of the iconic yet nostalgic Odaiba Jr. High School. Despite them not going to the same school anymore, all six kept together and their bonds became stronger year by year.
The group gathers at a karaoke room when they need to discuss stuff, or get orders from Koushiro or any other senior.
It was one of those days when…
“EVERYONE!” Daisuke slammed his hands on the table from their usual karaoke room, calling everyone’s attention to him and V-mon, “I’VE BEEN WONDERING IF Y’ALL DON’T WANNA FORM A SPECIAL UNIT-OR-CLUB WITH ME!”
“A… Special unit-or-club?” They all repeated, except for V-mon who was already mimicking Daisuke’s moves.
“Yeah!” V-mon nodded, “A special unit!”
“For what?” Miyako raised an eyebrow, “Where did you get this idea? Aren’t we already some kind of one?”
“Uh…”
“No, it’s not like that!” Daisuke interrupted V-mon, “I really mean embracing your detective inside ourselves!! Helping people! Like in these TV shows I was watch--”
“You’re trying to make us solve mysteries and murder cases now…” Tailmon sighed, “How many of those fictional stories had you watched…”
“... Just a tokusatsu series, D※k※ranger…” Daisuke wavered a little, touching his index fingers together.
“I see” Takeru nodded sagely, “This is why you have a D※k※Red keychain on your school briefcase…”
“Anyway, please let’s form one!” Daisuke begged them with a bow, slamming his head on the table, “O-OUCH!” V-mon also did the same, but in silence.
“Hmm…” Ken, Hikari and Iori were thoughtful, as if they were analyzing the idea.
“I say let’s do it” Takeru broke the silence and grinned, “Miyako-san said we’re already doing it but maybe we could make it a little more fancy.”
“Fancy?” Hawkmon repeated “Could you define ‘fancy’ in this scenario, please?”
“Matching uniforms”
“We’re not a fictional show though,” Tailmon said.
“But it would be fun, dagya… Right Iori?”
“Matching outfits…” Iori mused in a whisper, and a very terrifying image popped in his head. He just muttered, “No matching outfits, please.”
“But if you’re going to have color codes, maybe you should decide which color Ken is!” Patamon shrugged, “His digivice is black and gray, but his crest is purple-pink, his Digimental is pink, his digivice when Jogress activated is green and blue. Pick one color please?”
“Oh? And how about Takeru-san?” Wormmon squinted his eyes at Patamon, “His crest is yellow, but his digivice is green, and his digimental is orange!”
“HEY, STOP RIGHT THERE!” Daisuke interrupted everyone by screaming on the karaoke room’s microphone, then talked normally “No matching outfits, no color codes. Just let’s form a squadron specialized in solving mysteries! Digimon mysteries! That’s all.”
“So… Investigating digimon cases…” Hikari finally spoke.
“Yep. You can wear what you want to, any color you want to. That’s not a cosplay group.”
“If that’s so… I agree with the idea” Hikari smiled, “How about you, Miyako-san?”
“Hmm… I don’t get why we need to ‘form’ a squad when we’re already one… But let’s do it.”
“Three ‘yes’ so far, does anyone disagree?” V-mon asked the others.
“Well, If Miyako-san/Hikari say so…” Hawkmon and Tailmon said together.
“I’m in!” Patamon raised his paw, then looked at Armadimon and Wormmon “What’s your votes?”
“Seems fun so I’m in!” Armadimon answered with a cheerful voice, “Iori, let’s do it together right, dagya?”
“… Yes, I’d like to try it.”
“Soo, Ken and Wormmon?” Daisuke was grinning, “Everyone agreed, will you two join us too?”
“...”
Ken and Wormmon being in silence was completely tense, it made everything anticlimactic compared to the previous times they gathered in that booth, oh no… Would they decline!?
“...”
“Uh, Ken you’re not in… right?” Daisuke frowned, “It’s okay I don’t wanna force anyone to--”
“We’re in.”
“--!? W-wha--Really??”
“This could be a good experience for everyone, I think…” Wormmon said shyly.
“ALRIGHT!” So, let’s pick a name! We’re 02 Team from now on!”
“But… Why 02 Team?” Patamon asked.
“Maybe it’s because all of us met in the year of 2002?” Hawkmon tried a wild guess.
“Oh maybe there’s more than one unit, dagya”
“Uh… No, I… I thought of it being a cool name…” Daisuke blinked.
That’s Daisuke for you… And thus, they formed the first Digimon Special Cases Unit from the Chosen Children Network.

Tumblr media
“What do you want here, Loki?” you huff, annoyed as Loki Laufeyson stands in front of your door. “I thought your brother made sure all of you know it’s forbidden to come to my house. What is it? Did Fandral forget his balls at my house or something?”
“I told you,” he pokes his head inside your house, “I’ll come back for the book. Can I come in? My brother and the gang are out at a bar to find willing omegas to suck dick or something. I’m yearning for better entertainment tonight.”
“Loki,” sighing deeply you look at the flowers and the bottle of wine in his hands. “This won’t end in me kicking your ass out as you tried to feel me up. Right?”
“Darling, as much as I like your cockiness and your style,” he grins now, “I don’t want to know what you are hiding underneath your sweatpants and shirt, Y/N.”
“It’s Saturday and I’m not in the mood to go out to meet more selfish and rude alphas. So, what will it be, Loki? Can you act like a decent person or do I need to get my baseball bat?”
“I only want to read in silence and have a glass of wine. Maybe talk about my awful brother and his manners. Or rather the lack of manners,” you chuckle as Loki starts nagging about his brother.
“Fine, come in,” you open the door wider to let Loki in. “Can you believe he called me a sensitive cunt only as I told him he cannot act like a brute all the time? He threw beer bottles onto your carpet and ate your food. He’s such an…”
“Alpha?” you offer. “You see, that’s why I liked Fandral, or rather the person he pretended to be. I thought he was a nice alpha, a kind one. This was before he offered me to your brother, of course.”
“Thor wouldn’t have done this,” Loki says. “You know that, right? My brother is a brute, but he would never force a girl to do anything she doesn’t want to do.”
“Sure,” you walk back inside your living room to pick up your book and read about better relationships than the few you had in real life. “They are all the same. Selfish knot heads.”
Tumblr media
Five weeks later you sit in your living room and talk about books with Loki. He became a constant in your life. Honestly, he’s more than that. Loki became a friend. Someone to talk to and vent about shitty alpha behavior.
“Last week Thor brought that omega home again. Jane Foster,” Loki huffs. “She believes she’s better than us. I wanted to talk about the latest book she read, and she sneered at me. Do you know what she said?”
“No,” you lean forward to listen to Loki’s story. It’s not as if you are interested in his brother’s love life. Not at all. At least you try to tell yourself so... “Tell me.”
“She said that I wouldn’t understand the complexity of the book she read,” he huffs. “Uptight bitch!”
“In other words, she read a smutty book for lonely bitches and wasn’t woman enough to admit her sins,” you chuckle, making Loki smile. “You’re right. She’s a bitch.”
“The worst is, she makes squeaking sounds when they…you know. Thor is always grumpy the morning after. I think she doesn’t let him put it inside or something,” now you grin like the devil after he got yet another soul.
“Loki stop,” you giggle and snort. “We should talk about the books, not your brother’s tragic love life.”
“You look like an angel,” Loki muses, “but you are the devil in disguise. My brother would be so much tamer with you by his side. You’re the perfect omega to tame this wild beast.”
“In his dreams…”
Tumblr media
“What next?” you hum to yourself while checking on your grocery list. “Watermelon. Water. Check. Cucumber and chicken. Sugar and milk. Check.”
“Watch your step,” someone snarls in your direction. The alpha glares at you when you accidentally bump your shopping cart into his cart. “Stupid omega bitch.”
“Whoa…what crawled up your ass?” you growl back. “It was an accident, and nothing happened. I’m sorry for running your precious shopping cart over and that I hurt your soft body.”
“Do you want me to hurt your soft body?” the alpha grits his teeth. “I’m very good at breaking bones and ripping sweet little things like you apart.”
“Really?” you cock your head to look the unfriendly and aggressive alpha up and down. “What do you want to do? Kill me for accidentally bumping into an empty shopping cart?”
“Exactly.”
“You should know that attacking an omega that is much smaller than you doesn’t make you look tough. It makes you look like a pathetic excuse of an alpha. Alphas should protect the weaker ones, not threaten them.”
“Watch your tongue you,” he threatens but you don’t even flinch. You get your pepper spray out of your bag to give him something to remember for the next time he threatens to attack an omega. “Ouch…no! Why did you do this?”
“Seriously? You threatened to break my bones seconds ago. I had to defend myself. Fucking alpha asshole.”
“Do you know who I am?” the alpha blindly grasps you with one hand while he furiously wipes his eyes with the other. “I’m going to kill you.”
“Yeah. Sure.”
“For fuck’s sake,” you hear a familiar voice bark. “In what kind of trouble did you get yourself into this time.” Thor roughly grabs your arm to drag you away from the still whining alpha. “Do you have the slightest idea who that guy is?”
“No, and I don’t care. He threatened me. Now let go of me, ruffian,” you wiggle in Thor’s tight grip to get back to the other alpha. “You’re hurting me! Do you want some pepper spray too?”
“Crazy little omega,” he growls now while dragging you away. “That’s the leader of Hydra. One of the most dangerous biker gangs. If he orders your death, you are dead in the blink of an eye.”
“He’s not just some poser,” you whine as Thor pushes you toward his bike. “Hey, wait. Where are we going?”
“You don’t want him to find out who you are, right?” Thor points at his bike. “Leave your car behind. They don’t know it’s yours. I’ll tell Sif to get it later. Now come with me.”
“Why would I come with you?” crossing your arms over your chest you glare at Thor. “You are no better than that asshat.”
“I won’t kill or hurt you,” Thor retorts, voice low and dangerous now. “I may or may not spank your ass raw if you don’t get on my bike and shut up for once. No wonder Fandral wanted to get rid of you.”
“You’re such an ass.”
“And you are an annoyingly small and crazy omega. I won’t tell you again,” he swings one leg over his bike, “get on my bike and hold tight. We gotta get the fuck out of here…”
Tumblr media
“What the fuck?” Bucky watches you hastily hop off Thor’s bike. You throw insults at him, telling him he drove like a lunatic and that he broke at least two laws. “What is Y/N doing here?”
“Oh, ask her yourself,” Thor points at you standing next to his bike. “Our genius over there, sprayed pepper spray into Brock Rumlow’s face.”
“OH SHIT DOLL,” Steve laughs loudly as you give him a bitch face. “I knew you are hiding balls underneath your summer dresses.”
“This doesn’t answer my question. Why did you bring her here?” Bucky asks. “I like Y/N, but you put us all in danger by bringing her here. Rumlow will be out for blood if he gets to know that you protected the girl attacking him!”
“He would’ve hurt her, Bucky. What else could I do but to bring her here?” Thor hates to answer stupid questions. He’d rather fulfill his promise and bend you over his bike to spank your ass raw.
“Call the cops for example,” you put your hands on your hips. “Now I got no groceries, and my fucking car still stands in front of the grocery store.” You throw your hands up. “Why didn’t you let me handle this.”
“Let you handle this,” Thor has enough. He wraps his huge hand around your throat and pushes you against his bike. “See,” you claw at his hand, trying to get it off your throat, “that’s what would’ve happened if I left you there, all alone. Brock Rumlow would’ve bent you over his bike and taken what he wanted from you.”
“And disposed your body afterward,” Sif adds. “I know you are a tough omega, but you are still an omega. Don’t mess with Rumlow and his gang.”
“Let the fuck go off her,” Loki barks at his brother as he storms out of the clubhouse and toward you and Thor. “What’s wrong with all of you? She’s not some fucking toy you can play with. Thor, get off her.”
“She fucked with Brock Rumlow. I bet his minions already search for her all over town. If they saw my bike, we are in deep shit,” Thor snarls as you look up at him with wide and fearful eyes. “Fuck. She should stay the night. One of you must bunker on the couch tonight.”
“No!” all of them grumble under their breath. “If you want her to stay here, she’ll stay in your room, Thor.”
“What? NO!” he finally releases your throat, almost looking guilty as you cough and rub your sore throat. “I don’t like that omega.”
Tumblr media
Two hours later, …
“I want to go home,” you glare up at Thor as he shoved you into his bedroom and refuses to let you leave. “I dare you to get close to me! I still got my pepper spray.”
“Listen, we don’t like each other. Honestly, I hate everything about you,” you whine at Thor’s words. He rejected you for a second time and it hurts your omega deeply. “You’re the last omega I want inside my bedroom, but Rumlow knows who you are now. Your car is…let’s say it won’t drive for a while.”
“How did he find out who I am?” wrapping your arms around yourself you sniffle. “Did you tell him? Is it that? I called you a dirty biker and wanted you to leave my house and this is what you do?”
“This doesn’t make sense, little one,” he cups the back of your neck to get a good look at your throat. You wince as there are bruises around your throat and your skin is tender from his rough treatment. “Does it hurt?”
“Why do you care, ruffian? You almost choked me to death and now you act as if you care,” Thor huffs at your words. “Just leave me alone!”
“I wanted you to realize these people are dangerous. Rumlow is a monster,” the alpha mumbles while brushing his thumb over your sore throat. “Sif and Bucky are on their way to your house to get a few of your things for the night.”
“I need to go home and-“ Thor dips his head to look you deep in the eyes. “What?” You believe he wants to kiss you, but he bumps his nose against yours, huffing.
“I don’t care what you want. You barked up the wrong tree and now you must pay for it. You’re lucky if you don’t end up six feet under,” Thor growls low in his throat, making you whimper. “You’ll stay here tonight.”
“Like hell! You’re not my alpha!”
“Why would I want to claim someone like you,” he breathes in your neck now, lips and teeth inches from your mating gland. “You’re not going to wear my mark.” Thor sniffs at your neck, teeth gritted as he fights the urge to lick your skin. “Sleep. I don’t want to hear from you for a few hours.”
“As if I wanted to talk to you,” you growl. “I’m going to sleep in Loki’s room, ruffian. I can’t bear your stink…”
“What? No-“ Thor must watch you storm out of his room. You slam the door shut, making him growl as he didn’t expect you to leave his room. “OMEGA!!”

Spellbound | Eddie Munson
[also on wattpad @TheHotWeasley]
Tumblr media
Track Four: I Wanna Be Adored
Description: Melanie has ignored Eddie’s musings for the past week, but when he sees her outside before school, she caves in to share a cigarette with him. Things are going well until Jason shows up, like always.
Warnings: Strong Language, Bullying by stupid douche Jason Carver and his goons.
"𝖄𝖔𝖚 𝖆𝖉𝖔𝖗𝖊 𝖒𝖊 𝕴 𝖜𝖆𝖓𝖓𝖆, 𝕴 𝖜𝖆𝖓𝖓𝖆 𝕴 𝖜𝖆𝖓𝖓𝖆 𝖇𝖊 𝖆𝖉𝖔𝖗𝖊𝖉." - 𝕴 𝖂𝖆𝖓𝖓𝖆 𝕭𝖊 𝕬𝖉𝖔𝖗𝖊𝖉, 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕾𝖙𝖔𝖓𝖊 𝕽𝖔𝖘𝖊𝖘
I did not see him the next day. I lied. I didn't see Eddie Munson for a week after we went to the Music Store. At least, that's how I wanted it to be.
It became incredibly clear that all he wanted to do was get in my "freak" pants, and I told myself I was not down with that. Eddie found every opportunity he could to stop me in my tracks and try to talk to me. At my locker, he would surprise me with some sort of goofy face as I slammed the door shut. I would walk past him every time to go hide in the nearby bathroom. He wouldn't follow me, but he would try to talk to me.
"Listen, Mel, I just wanted-"
I would usually cut him off by putting on my headphones and drowning in The Smiths or The Cure. I would usually have to camp in the bathroom for awhile, he waited for me longer and longer each day. All I could do is walk by. It gave me a lot of time to think.
Was he using all of this time just to get in my pants? I really wasn't all that fantastic. I'm taller than most girls, not as skinny, and my skin looks like a god damn sheet of paper. Or did that just turn him on more? Listen, I wasn't exactly against having sex with him. It just annoyed me that I wasn't being wooed.
I'm a hopeless romantic. I want to be swept off of my feet. Maybe Eddie's trying to do that now. Maybe I'm ruining everything by ignoring him. But, I needed to make sure that he actually wanted to know me. Not just need me in a physical way, but in an emotional way. I'm a Scorpio for fucks sake, I want to mesh my soul with someone.
Even though I tried to ignore him, he was all I ever thought about. That pissed me off. I just wanted to forget him and be alone. God, being alone can get boring. I felt the good old lonely feeling grabbing my shoulder, tugging me towards some sort of happiness. I was caught between dread and excitement. He's pining over me. Me. Melanie. The one that people spit on and call names. I had a boy who cared about me.
I smiled to myself as I sat up on a small hill to the side of the school. It was in sight of people walking in, the only other people who would hang out here were the stoners. Eddie shows up every other day, I've noticed. I've learned a lot about Eddie. I know he's 19, maybe 20. I know he was supposed to graduate two years ago, but failed. And failed again. I know how kind he can be to the people up on this hill. I also know how the normal folks of Hawkins feel about him. They refer to him as "The scary metal head druggie." He wasn't scary at all, I discovered. Eddie Munson was a kind and goofy soul, clearly hurt by the cards he had been dealt in life.
I sighed, I was always here a half hour before school even was supposed to start. I like to watch the sun rise each morning. I pull my pack of cigarettes out of my bag, and dig for my lighter. As I light the cigarette and deeply inhale, I am still thinking of Eddie Munson. He comes to this spot on Monday's. Unfortunately, that's today.
The stoners quietly piled into the grassy area, laying down blankets and saying their hellos. I kept my headphones on. I had tried to join them, but I'm really not into getting high before eight in the morning. I was a total recluse. I noticed my leg beginning to shake as it got closer to the time Eddie shows up.
I took a deep breath as I watched his old van fly into the parking lot, nearly hitting one of the jocks, Chance. I chuckled to myself. His car was the loudest in the parking lot, and to my surprise, he was listening to Quiet Riot. I blushed. There's no way he was listening to them for me, right? I thought he said they were just okay. Fuck, why do I care so much?
Eddie was wearing his usual outfit, and it looked just as sexy on him as every other day. The beat up leather jacket topped with the jean vest... He made my heart beat just as fast as last week. I watched him hop out of the van, trying to fix his floppy hair in the side mirror. As he turned to look up the hill, his eyes immediately caught mine. Even from this distance, I felt myself falling for him all over again. He waved his arms aggressively towards me. I pursed my lips to stop myself from laughing, and took another drag of my cigarette. Then, I waved back. Something told me I had to start letting go. That silly little wave he gave and his response to me waving back was everything I needed to tell myself that he's not at all what people think. I watched his face light up at my small wave back, as he began to fist pump the air.
"FUCK YEAH!" I heard him bellow from below. My lips curled into a cheesy smile at him. He was just so ridiculous. I covered my face with my hands as he drew attention from everyone. When I looked back, I saw Eddie sprinting up the hill towards me. I wasn't nervous this time. I was eager to hear his response.
"Do... you know... how long I have been waiting to get acknowledgment of my existence from you? You had me going crazy, Mels!" Eddie spoke through jagged breaths from his sprinting.
I blushed at the nickname he had given me. No one had ever bothered to give me a nickname. Not even my parents did. They just called me "kid". Even though I turned 18 before school even started. I noticed how big I was smiling due to Eddie's response of a raised eyebrow.
"What's got you in such a good mood today? I am dying to know why you've been ignoring me!" He pestered, placing his hands on his hips.
"I'm wondering if I should just turn this up even more so I don't have to hear your screeching voice so early in my morning." I joked, slowly removing my headphones with caution. Eddie's eyes widened in surprise.
"It's lovely to hear your voice again, m'lady." He bowed, and slowly got down on both knees, praising me. He brought his hands up in prayer.
"Thank you, whoever may be listening, for letting Melanie finally come to her senses and talk to a super cool dude like me. Much appreciated, man." Eddie joked, pointing a finger up to the sky.
I chuckled at his grandiose gestures. I pulled my knees up to my chest and sighed. Eddie slowly crawled next to me, and imitated my sigh. I pushed his shoulder. I took another drag of my abandoned cigarette, and glanced at Eddie, who was giving me the most adorable puppy dog eyes I have ever seen.
"Care to share?" He smirked, and I rolled my eyes, handing him one of my cigarettes.
"Oh and uh, can you light mine? I left my lighter in the van." Eddie asked.
I knew he was lying. He always kept at least two lighters in his denim vest for his customers. He just wanted me to do it. Why did that turn me on a little bit?
"Yeah, sure." I muttered, pushing a piece of hair behind my ear. I was getting more and more flustered by the minute. I tried to flick my zippo open, but my hands slipped. I chuckled awkwardly. I tried to flick it open again, and failed. I felt my face heat up.
"Sorry, I am such a fucking klutz today." I groaned. Eddie smiled up at me,
"No worries, sweetheart." He batted his eyelashes at me, then placed the cigarette on his lips.
"Do you seriously just... flirt with everyone? All the time?" I asked, finally lighting his cigarette, thankfully not setting anything else on fire.
"Nope," He sighed, taking a long drag, "just you."
I took another drag before I could blush too hard, and looked away from him as a smile crept up on my lips. Eddie tapped my thigh, and I felt a shock spread through my entire leg. I spun around to look at him, smirking at me.
"Melanie..." He sang my name like a melody. I hoped that he couldn't hear my heart beating out of my chest.
"Eddie..." I responded, putting out my cigarette under my boot.
"I just need to say-"
He was stopped by Jason Carver and the other jock goons. Jason snatched Eddie's cigarette from his mouth and threw it into the grass.
"What the hell, man?" Eddie furrowed his eyebrows.
"What are you doing trying to run over my friends , freak?" Jason challenged.
"Oh, that? Chance clearly came outta nowhere." Eddie responded, getting to his feet. I stood up with him.
"Listen, Jason, is it? Just go back inside where you belong and us freaks can stay out here. That way, nobody has to be an asshole and we can both live our fucking lives, okay?" I tried to reason. Jason and his friends just laughed at me.
"I know what you are. I see that star on your neck. I don't want you flaunting your love of... Satan... in my town. Take it off." Jason demanded.
I chuckled, and turned to Eddie, but heard his feet sprinting through the woods. I felt my heart sink. How could he just leave me with these guys? I get it, they're trouble, but really?
"No." I stated, crossing my arms.
"Take it off, freak!" Snapback chimed in, and reached towards my throat. Stunned, I reached into my pocket for my swiss army knife, just in case.
"It isn't a Satan symbol, anyway. It's a pentagram. It represents-"
"Listen, I don't care what freaky shit you're into. Just keep it out of my face." Jason stated, stepping closer to me.
"Well, I'm not taking it off. That's not a decision you can make for me, Jason." I warned, staring daggers into all of them.
"Sure we can." Snapback laughs, grabbing a my necklace. I try to wrestle out of his grasp, but he yanks at my throat, ripping my necklace off. Snapback tosses it into the woods and high fives one of the other goons. Jason turns to me with a threatening look, and I feel my eyes start to sting with tears.
"Wear shit like that again, I'll get you kicked out of here. It's just not safe. Take all that shit off your face too. This is a good town, and I don't want freaks like you poisoning it." Jason snaps, then turns to storm away. A few tears escape my eyes as they run down the hill. I sniffle, and wipe my nose with my sleeve. I try to swallow my sobs as I run into the woods in search of my mother's necklace.

May I request a Childe X Reader fanfic where the reader has been pushing herself too hard lately and so Childe has to forcefully get her to rest? ty
By my side [Childe x Reader]//Genshin Impact
Tumblr media
Synopsis: You were an artist and he was an adventurer. Two people from vast backgrounds and Childe just wants to spend some time of his busy life with you. However, things didn't really go his way...at first.
(Childe x F!reader. Its all fluff)
(A/n): Perfect request anon. I too, would like to have a Childe in my life. Been getting 5-6 hours of sleep on average 😃😁. Yeah kind tossed some extra ideas with artist s/o, its a perfect reason for anyone to be busy.
============================
Once recieving the permission to take a week off from his diplomatic duties, the first thing Childe thought of was none other than his lovely significant other.
The harbinger knew quite well what lays ahead of his ventures to Liyue. During his quest for the archon's gnosis, he encountered many interesting events, such as meeting the rumoured traveller hailing from afar and a broke yet courteous man who turned out to be the ultimate ruler of this very country he walks upon then there was the battle against a dead god until he revived it using the sigil of permission. All of them were great additions to his story as Ajax the hero, something he always wanted to pursue since childhood. In which, also gave him something nice to write about when preparing letters for his siblings living back home. But little did the harbinger know that he'll one day bump into the heroine. A little too soon. Through your little art shop, he met you, a sweet and audacious woman with plenty of humour. That was how it all began.
While he strides down the streets between Liyue's exquisite buildings, Childe suddenly stops in his tracks and looks up to the sky. There, was painted a scenery of an evening dusk, sun rays relfected across until red and orange hues cast a river stream that led to the ends of the world. He watched the birds follow that streak like it was a path made for them to fly towards. A new adventure. You would have loved to captured this in your pictures.
And then he wonders, what might you be painting right now?
"Hey babe, I'm home~"
In a sing-song voice he calls out to you by your nick-name. You knew that Childe was an active member of the Fatui and that his time was limited, hence he made sure to write to you as well. Of course long distant relationships only makes the waiting more anticipated. When he does pay a visit, you'd run straight into his open arms, leaping off your feet to engulf him in one enourmous embrace. Then his hands will hold against your waist as he spins your round and around in the air, stealing the laughter out of your lungs before planting you back on the floor. Sometimes Childe would consider that being far away wasn't be such a bad idea as long as he was able to experience this, the harder the battle, the sweeter the victory. However...
"That's great."
He was met by a response similar to the wintry grace of Snezhnaya.
Huh?
All the fantasies he had from earlier shatters in the background as he stands there frozen. You didn't even spare a glance to the entrance, eyes still glued to the large canvas displayed at your front, too busy to even care. Childe clicks his tongue between the awkward silence with an uncertain expression. When there was no signs of initiation on your part, he shuffled his way to where you were and observes from behind.
"Well you're particularly quiet today," he muses to himself, placing a hand over his hip, "I guess that painting of yours must be really important then."
It was obvious that he was trying to nudge you into his favour. Something that you've found endearing was how quickly your boyfriend can be when he's in a needy state. So you quickly twisted over to peck him on the cheek before going back to work.
"That's better," Childe satisfiedly grins, "So who is this project for?"
"It's a commission requested by a wealthy family serving the Qixing. They're really influential in terms of the market and can really give me a competitive edge. I have to get it done in five days."
His tone flactuates as he squints his eyes, "Five days you say," he disliked the news of your schedule taking over his own, Childe only managed to take a week off and after that, he'll be away for quite some time, "Why don't you take a break? From the looks of your progress, it seems to me that you've been working on it for hours. I've got plenty of interesting stories to tell and you know, nothing can compare to sharing a warm meal within your company," he leans down to your ear level, "How does that sound?"
Several seconds went by as he waits for some sort of reaction, "Oh. Right," you blurted out and the harbinger only smiles, "I made some food earlier this morning. You can go help yourself if you're hungry."
Today was not his day.
Childe pulls out the wooden chair and slumps into the seat, a defeated huff escaping his mouth as he stared at the crystal shrimp placed on the table. It was hastily wrapped by plastic, most likely cold for a while, just like the romantic evening he had planned in his head. Normally you'll be sitting on the otherside while listening to the many tales he went through along the way. Although painting was your passion, it was undeniable that you also enjoyed his kind of lifestyle if you ever had the choice. He was rather surprised on how someone ambitious like him would end up with such a simplistic person but quickly accepted it as life was meant to be unpredictable, just the way he likes it. As Childe entertains you with his stories, he'll listen to your giggles amidst eating the homecooked meals that you both prepared together.
"I wonder if she ate already," he mumbled to his lone self. You most likely did but Childe knows you well. Artists are obsessed and they can go as far as to neglecting their own health for the sake of their masterpieces. Hence, he made sure to remind you to eat properly through the letters he wrote to you.
The harbinger takes a quick glance around the kitchen. It was a mess. The cupboards were slightly opened, metal pots were still displayed on the stone stove and the stench coming from the sink....
Childe pushes himsel up to see what was the cause.
Not even the dishes were washed.
Running his fingers through his bangs, he sighs wearily, "Old habits die hard huh?" And above all else, when artists are obsessed they also forget how disorganized they can become. Childe begins to roll up his sleeves before taking off his gloves. At times like this he'll have to pitch in and take care of it for you, "Looks like I'll be here for a while."
Throughout three sunsets and three moonrises, Childe had no option but to observe you from afar, minus the few attempts he made to regain your attention again. How you would go to bed much later than him, waking up before he opens his eyes and the effort he put into making your food only left with too many leftovers. It wasn't that you were unappreciative, instead, your mind had become too focused that your body was considered a second priority. Like anyone else, Childe genuinely thought you possessed great talent and supports you wholeheartedly. He loved it when you painted pictures just for him as if they were scenes coming out of his hero story, reminded by his adventures, capturing every detail. However he also needed to learn how to deal with this stubborn side of yours.
"Hey babe, I just finished preparing our dinner. Don't you smell that? Such a rich aroma, you should go eat."
"I'm busy."
Your diet were just small bites, the rest being substituted by coffee. Childe could clearly tell that you weren't getting enough sleep either as there were dark circles forming underneath your eyes and slowly, he was starting to become a little irritated.
Three hours passed midnight but you were still awake in the same place doing the same thing. Childe leans against the doorframe with arms folded, already changed into his sleeping clothes. He clears his throat to break the silence, "Ahem."
Your wrist hangs in mid air by the sound of a strange visitor, it was your boyfriend. Gaze in a daze, you lazily turned your head, "What time is it?"
"Way passed the sleeping hours as you can see," he points with his thumb at the table clock in a half-hearted manner, "You should already be in bed by now and don't think you can coax yourself out of the situation this time," his eyes parted in slits as he added with a smile, "Otherwise I might just have to force you myself."
You shook your head, "Give me one more hour? There's some finishing touches I really want to add so," clasping your hands together, you beamed sweetly, "Pretty please? I'll finish up soon."
"Oh really?" Childe challenges, head tossed back like he was interrogating you instead, "I believe that was also what you told me yesterday. And the day before? Adding up all of those days that would be.....four in total?" He deliberately counts upon his fingers before facing you again, this time his expression was slightly more serious, "As much as I find your determination remarkable, there are moments when you need to consider a sufficient amount of rest and this just isn't going to cut it."
"Four days already?!" You exclaimed, "Jeez, I don't even know if I'm halfway done."
Pressing his lips together, Childe glares in an acutely deadpanned countenance, it was also his time too, "Can't you ask this commissioner to extend your due date to next week? In your case, mora shouldn't be the issue since, well...you're dating me anyways."
It's true. Childe was the main reason why you didn't have to live as a starving artist. He had all your expenses fully covered from the marketing aspect to your residence, you simply chose to work out of pure will.
"I don't want to always rely on you so much," you confessed, "This commissioner could turn my whole career around. If I'm able to gain his favour, maybe I'll get promoted to a court painter for the Qixing! Who knows when there will ever be a chance like this again," pumping your fists, you spoke purposefully, "I'll pull an all nighters if I have to!"
Childe brings his hand to his forehead, you looked as if you were nearly about to collapse and yet still considering the option of an all-nighters? The harbinger should've detained you days prior before.
"Hm? Childe, what's wrong?" He suddenly falls deadly quiet and you watched him walk closer towards you, "What are--"
Hooking an arm behind your knees and the other at your back, your boyfriend lifts you up in one full swoop as he tossed you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
"Guess we'll have to do things the hard way," he remarks cheerfully.
"W-Wait," you flailed your arms and kicked your legs but to no avail. Childe was an experienced combatant indeed, "Put me down! I have work to do."
Your protests fall upon deaf ears as the harbinger carries you to your room. You were oddly lighter than the last time he carried you, the strength less vigor than before, it was obvious that your body was in need of relaxation. He suddenly thinks there was a possibility that you would maintain this habit while he was absent.
I should probably visit more often.
Using his free leg to nudge the door open, he places you upon the shared bed in a gentle manner. You winced at the impact of the soft sheets, surprised by how much it affect you.
"There we go. All done. Man, you really are a stubborn one, aren't you. Makes me a little worried since I can't spoil you all the time."
He quickly invited himself to the empty space on your bedside and wrapped his arms around your figure, pulling you close and feeling you whole. Childe made sure there was no escape once putting his chin above your hairline so that you could feel his warmth as much as possible.
"This is--" you stuttered. His tactic was enough to make your limbs soften and you could almost hear him smirk into the distance, "This is cheating..."
"You think so?" He comments as if pledging innocence, "I don't know babe. Where I come from those who take the initiative are the ones who end up claiming the prize," pulling back, Childe takes the opportunity to observe your pouty face, "I don't make the rules. It's just how it goes."
You wanted to argue back but he suddenly took the bedsheets and covered both of your bodies with, completely trapping you with his presence. He snuggles into you further as if you were a bear made of linen and you felt the drowsiness taking over your mind. The way he gently pats down the back of your head was enough to instantly lull you into a deep sleep.
"Cheater," you mumbled.
He laughs softly, the rumbles emitting through his chest, "I love you too babe."
Even after you've let go of your resistance, Childe continues his actions until he was sure that you were resting. He had been longing to touch you like this since living a chaotic life only made peaceful moments much sweeter, "You're such a hard-worker you know that? I'm proud of you but you have to know when to call it a day," he whispers, "If not, how can I go on trips while knowing that you're still refusing to eat properly?"
You closed your eyes and said nothing in return. All your senses were too cloudy to come up with a reassuring response. Childe listens to the way your breath evens as you intake his scent during the process. It smelled like the soap you used in the showers, lotus leaves mixed with his own unique musk. You could only focus on him. His comforting embrace. His slightly accelerating heartbeat because you were together with him.
Letting out one final yawn, you succumbed to his spell and allowed your energy to drift away.
The corners of his lips tug upwards, "Sleep well princess."
Childe reaches over to your desk drawer and shuts off the alarm clock before turning over to face you again. He couldn't fall asleep immediately, not when he had to consider taking care of the commissioner who gave you an impossible deadline. But that will be saved for another day, for now, he observes in silent serenity.
If he were to quit his job for a year, what would his life be like?
Peaceful. Something opposite of what he was living right now. Something similar to the life he had back home. As you arrange the many paintings in your little home, he'll offer to help you among the places you couldn't reach. Without a doubt, Childe was far taller in comparison. Taking strolls into the streets and trying the new dishes the merchants came up with. Then in the evenings, you'll both go to dinner dates while listening to the storyteller revealing the rumours of the legendary Tianquan Qixing. Although Childe loved the adventurous life he led, he had to admit that your domesticity and family-bringing atmosphere was a tempting idea.
Maybe one day.
He lightly takes a strand that had fallen over your nose and tucked it smoothly behind your ear. The soft snores coming out of your parted lips caused his gaze to melt. And so he steals them with his own, placing a chaste goodnight kiss.
One day I'll be sure to bring my family here with us.
Closing his eyes, he joins you in your slumber, hoping to see all that he envisioned in his dreams.

Where Loyalties Lie
(Technoblade X reader)
Tumblr media
Request 3: Can we get a little angsty fic or headcanon of Techno trying to get the reader to leave L’manberg?
Requested By: Anonymous
~~~
     “Tubbo please take a deep breath,” You followed him around the rubble as he paced restlessly.
     “I’m president of a crater (Y/n)!” The boy pulled on his ears with a loud whine, “What am I gonna do. I can’t believe Wilbur blew it up-” He felt your hands touch his own and gently pull them away from his oversensitive goat ears. “What am I gonna do? I-I’m a kid…” You frowned, moving to cup his cheek with your hand. He nuzzled into it desperately, welcoming the comforting touch of someone who he considered family.
     “You’re going to get through it because you’re strong.” You told him, “and so brave little ram.” He flushed pink letting out a whine of protest especially because he was still surrounded by most of his friends.
You watch as Quackity walked over to the both of you and placed his hand on Tubbo’s shoulder squeezing it, “We’ll rebuild. We’ll be right behind you Tubbo.” He smiled at the kid and you couldn’t help but smile over at him.
     “Thank you both. Truly.”
There was one thing that had you were worried you may come to regret, and that was not taking Technoblade’s hand as he fled from the country. You were close almost touching it, he looked like he wanted to beg for you too but one desperate cry from Tubbo had you pulling away. He looked heartbroken but at the same time, you saw understanding in his deep red eyes.
Family came first.
That day he pulled you close pressing a soft kiss on your forehead, “I’ll be back for you.”
You murmured a soft I’m sorry, turning to find Tubbo to make sure he wasn’t injured or dying. The thoughts of the festival replaying in your head, you couldn’t go through that...not again especially because now Tubbo was officially on his last life. Tommy couldn’t fathom how you didn’t blame Technoblade for what happened that day, but to you, two things were clear: one was that Tubbo didn’t blame him which made it easier on your end to forgive him; two Schlatt was manipulative and overwhelming as fuck you can’t blame someone for something they were peer pressured into doing. Speaking of Tommy you ended up finding Tubbo and him in the rubble that day, the taller male was pressing cloth to Tubbo’s bleeding arm desperately, when you took over and Tommy seemed grateful.
However, you had to push your possible regrets aside and focus on the new nation you’d help build, and build it you did. You worked endlessly for months on end creating a lovely new nation for people to live in, Tubbo had dubbed it New L’manburg. You felt his pride and happiness, he just loved seeing everyone together again and happy once again. Finally, the server felt somewhat normal after all that destruction, even if there was a Techno-shaped hole in your heart. Things changed rather quickly when Tubbo was, in your eyes, manipulated to exile Tommy by Dream. You had tried to argue for the boy saying that not only was he Tubbo’s friend but just a kid. You were shut down harshly by not only Dream but Tubbo as well, the look in his eyes was filled with so much loathing and frustration. It’s the first time he ever snapped and was harsh to you, you felt your own frustration bubble up in your chest. You turned on your heel and marched back up into your house, you were not going to put up with this behavior. When you slammed the door shut, and turned around to find Technoblade standing in your living room,  with your cat purring fondly on his shoulders; you almost screamed.
     “Heh- why are you scared it’s just me?” The hybrid complained his nose scrunching up, “Don’t be cringe- oof-” Techno grunted as you threw your arms around his waist, the man flushed to the tips of his ears and looked away from you, Taffy hopped off his shoulders disgruntledly, “Yeah, yeah, I missed you too.” He pet the top of your head tenderly and you looked up at him with a smile.
     “What’re you doing here Tech? If Tubbo finds out he’ll have your head.”
     “Then I guess we’ll just have to make sure he doesn’t find me then huh?” He mused lips, quirking into a smile, and you nodded in agreement. “Other than that just running some errands. I’m in retirement now you know. I have to say that ‘New L’Manburg’ is certainly a name.” He did air quotes around the name and you nudged him,
     “Be nice.”
     “Boo Cringe. I’m a Blood God starlight. I don’t do nice.”
     “Bullshit,” You punched him in the arm, “Tea?”
     “Please.” He cracked a smile as you walked over to your tea kettle heating the water and grabbing some tea bags.
     “So, you came here to run some errands huh? I almost thought you missed me?” Technoblade shuffled a little behind you, how could you read him so perfectly? It was complete and utter bullshit. You heard him click his tongue distastefully behind you and you couldn’t help but smirk cheekily,
     “Get off my back woman.” He stated gruffly as you laughed, “but I guess I do miss you a little bit.” You smiled fondly and softly cooed at him and he let out another scoff,
     “A little bit?”
     “What is this interrogation? You a cop now?” You placed his tea in front of him and he took a sip,
     “Yeah, we’re gonna need to do a strip search. Drop your pants.” Technoblade choked on his drink, face turning the darkest shade of red you’ve ever seen from him. You howled with laughter sliding down in your seat beside the man.
     “I changed my mind. I didn’t miss you at all, you’re a terror.”
     “You love me, admit it.”
     “Yeah, yeah, yeah.” He murmured looking at you with a sudden softness that was out of character for him. You didn’t notice the change but it was there, oh if only you knew how much of what you said was true. He did love you. He ran his tongue across his teeth and reached out to interlock your hands within his own.
     “Come live with me.”
     “Tech…”
     “I’m in retirement now. I’m going to get some turtles hopefully, maybe some other pets while I’m at it. There’s a lot of room...It gets lonely all alone you know. It’d be nice to have you there with me.” He watched hesitance flicker across your face again just like the day Wilbur blew up L’Manburg. Your thoughts went to Tubbo and how much he needed you, especially now that Tommy was exiled. However, you were also brought back to a few moments ago where Tubbo snapped at you for trying to help. You took a ragged breath and pushed his hand away, he frowned sadly bringing his hand back down to his lap.
     “I need to be here for Tubbo. He’s a kid Tech...way over his head. Dreams sniffing around him like a dog looking for his next victim to manipulate. I can’t let that happen, not to him. I know he’s President of this nation and you hate him for that, but he’s my brother and I love him. He’s a tough kid with a lot of fire, but I can’t just leave him in the dust. I love you,” You reached up and cupped his cheek and Technoblade felt his cheeks burn at the implication, “but I can’t leave until Tubbo is safe.”
     “I’ll convince you one day.” Technoblade shot back even though his heart ached, that you wouldn’t be coming home with him. But Technoblade wasn’t known for giving up. He was stubborn as hell, he’d win you over yet. You’d come home with him, he’d confess to you and he’d make you the happiest person in the world. You just...didn’t know it yet.
     “I’m excited for the day you do Tech.” You snickered softly, you both were startled by harsh knocking on the door.
     “That’s my cue. See you soon Starlight,” Technoblade hummed slipping right out the window, you watched him go longingly. You shuffled towards the door and opened it slowly, on the front steps stood Tubbo who was rocking nervously on his feet.
     “Hi…”
     “Hey LR...you okay?” Tilting your head to the side,
     “Is LR supposed to stand for little ram?”
     “Problem?”
     “No…I suppose not.” He murmured before clearing his throat and straightening his back, “I wanted to talk with you.”
     “Oh?” You raised an eyebrow watching him nod his head sternly, you walked outside and closed the door behind you so you could lean on it. “Shoot,”
You watched as Tubbo swallowed thickly, “First off I’m sorry for yelling at you earlier. It wasn’t fair of me to snap.” He watched you nod a little urging him to continue, “however, I am the President now and you have to respect my authority.” Eyebrows furrowing together in frustration you opened your mouth to counter him but he held up his hand, “Dream has an idea of how to rule. He can steer me in a better direction-”
     “Pardon me?” You let out a disbelieving laugh, “A better direction? Tubbo, are you forgetting everything we all fought for, we fought him for independence. He killed us!”
     “He might’ve changed!”
     “He exiled Tommy!”
     “He deserved it!” Tubbo shouted back as your nose scrunched up, “He’ll steer me in a direction that you never could!” He snapped before realizing what he said, he slapped his hands over his mouth eyes widening to the size of saucers. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that-”
     “Go home Tubbo.”
     “(Y/n) please,” He reached out towards you and you held up your hand,
     “Go reset the day. You need rest,” You frowned, turning back into the house “see you tomorrow.” Inside the house you shut the door on him and slid down onto the floor, you brought your hands to your mouth and swallowed thickly. A part of you wished Technoblade was still here just so he could tell you to get over yourself, he wasn’t skilled in the art of comforting others, but he could make you laugh. To keep yourself sane you reminded yourself that Tubbo was a child and needed you now more than ever, especially if he thought Dream was dishing out good advice. But you were hurt and a selfish part of you wished you could just go live in retirement with Technoblade and not worry about the new country forming, but you couldn’t ditch Tubbo.
Running a hand through your hair you sighed loudly, one might wonder what exactly could Tubbo do to make you listen to Technoblade’s offer. Honestly, you had no idea if anything would make you do that unless of course they just started executing people or something ridiculous like that.
Restless was how you’d describe the rest of your night, you tried to sleep but after a few hours of tossing and turning you gave up. You decided to make yourself a ‘healthy’ midnight snack, a small bowl of mac & cheese, you didn’t care, you were sad. You sighed softly scratching behind your cat’s ears, “It’s just you and me against the world Taffy isn’t it?” Her purrs rang in the air as she snuggled against your hand, distracting you just enough to swipe a noddle from your bowl. “You fat bitch!” You hissed as she ran off back up the stairs, you leaned back in your chair and sighed, literally nothing was going your way today. Just as you finished up your snack you heard a soft ping upon your window, turning to the sound you noticed your neighbor Phil awake in his house. He held up a hand and waved at you through it, and with a small smile, you waved back. He shuffled back into his home, I guess you both were insomniacs together, Techno knew how to pick a certain type of friend it seemed.
You walked back up to your bedroom and slid under the covers once more, maybe you were wrong and things were going to get better.
Months went by and nothing seemed to change much to your disappointment. Tubbo and you were still a little rocky, you had forgiven him for his harsh words but he always put Dream’s and even Quackity’s opinion before your own. When you came back from visiting Niki one day and saw wanted posters of Technoblade all around the country you almost had a stroke. You confronted Tubbo about it and only half answered you before running off when Quackity called him. That worried you, he normally didn’t like lying, especially not to you.
The same day you were walking into the market to get some fresh fruit when a hand shot out from the wanted poster and pulled you behind it. You were held flush against someone’s chest who chuckled gruffly, you recognized that chuckle anywhere. “Techno! What’re you doing here?” You asked looking up at him with eyes filled with concern, “don’t you know you’re a wanted man?”
     “I think that just makes this all the more exciting.” Techno mused running his fingers through your hair, “Plus it’s not like anyone here can catch me.”
     “Wrong I could catch you.” He dared to laugh in your face,
     “Sure you could, and I’m half sheep.” Technoblade mused and he watched you huff cutely, “Don’t get all huffy at me you know I’m right.” You only waved him off, “seriously though I’m here to do some trading with Phil.”
     “Oh…” You gave a nod, Will I see you more frequently then?”
     “You could see me all the time if you moved in with me.” Techno joked again and was surprised to see your face fall a little. Are you serious? Was he getting you to crack? “Starlight?”
     “Ask me again in a few months and I might say yes,” You teased brushing the question off swiftly, Technoblade didn’t pry but he could tell you were almost convinced. Just what was going on in this country to make you want to leave your little brother? “Now shoo, go see Phil before he gives up on you.” You gave him a little shove and he stumbled off with a huff sticking his tongue out at you in the process.
After that encounter, you didn’t run into Technoblade for another very long stretch of time. About a month or so after that encounter, Tubbo had shown up at your doorstep a complete nervous wreck. He begged you to help him, claiming he needed diamonds for an upcoming project and wanted you to acquire them for him. “Tubbo I don’t understand why I need to go on this trip? I have diamonds I can just give you. You know I don’t care.”
     “But I feel bad about it,” Tubbo argued with you “please just do this for me.”
     “You know I’ll do anything for you. If you want me to get them this way I’ll do it. I should be back tonight is that okay? Do you need them sooner?” Tubbo looked relieved as he took your hands in his own,
     “No tonight is perfect!” The boy chirped sounding more like himself than he has in months, you couldn’t help but smile. You ruffled his hair a little before kissing his forehead,
     “Then tonight you shall have them, Little Ram.”
Tubbo helped you gather the materials you needed for a trip down into the mines, Tubbo even gave you some fire resistance potions. You thanked him for the potions before putting on your armor and heading down into the tunnels. As you were down in the mine the concept of time was always an illusion, so when you finally found diamonds for Tubbo and you left the cave you were surprised to see the sun was just setting. You hummed softly to yourself walking back into New L’manburg excited to show off to Tubbo you couldn’t help but wonder what he needed them for in the first place. However, when you entered town you were greeted by a gathering going on at the center. Everyone seemed to be there clad in what looked to be butcher’s outfits, your vibe was immediately thrown off eyebrows furrowing in concern. Quackity was giving some sort of speech and that finally drew your eyes towards the podium, locked inside a cage was a fuming Technoblade. You rushed towards the group, pushing past Ghostbur and a blue sheep, and grabbed tightly onto Tubbo’s arm.
     “Tubbo what the fuck is happening?” He tensed turning towards your face. It was no secret that you and Techno were friends, this wasn’t good at all.
     “(Y/n)! You’re back early!” He spoke nervously rubbing his hands together as Quackity turned towards you,
     “Welcome back!” Quackity hopped off the podium with a smirk, “Fundy grab them.”
     “Quackity hey wait a minute-” Tubbo started as Fundy roughly grabbed onto your arms pinning you in place,
     “Ow hey! Watch it! Let go of me!”
     “Get your hands off them!” Technoblade snarled nostrils flaring grabbing the bars of the cage tightly.
     “Quackity you said we’d leave them out of this!” Tubbo argued and your jaw dropped staring at Tubbo, “You promised!”
He waved Tubbo off with a scoff, “they’re just as bad as Phil, Tubbo. She needs to be punished. We can't play favorites when trying to run a country. We’ll execute Techno then deal with the other traitors.”
     “Execute?” You choked, “you can’t be serious! Tubbo you cannot be serious, since when are you okay with public executions?” He refused to look at you, his hair covering his eyes, he only nodded his head in Quackity’s direction.
     “Do it.”
     “Tubbo!” You shrieked watching Quackity grin maliciously, moving over to pull the lever that would allow the anvil to fall and crush the man below it.
What happened next was a cluster fuck, someone began trying to set off TNT, and Quackity pulled the lever. It fell rapidly towards Techno and he pulled something out of his pocket, in a flash of bright colors and bursts of light Technoblade was ripped apart and pulled back together again. He was alive, Technoblade really doesn’t ever die. He hopped on top of the anvil and jumped the bars of the cage, Fundy had long since lost his grip on you, he noticed Dream ushering him inside a cavern and he paused a moment. The hybrid turned towards you holding out his hand one final time, the world seemed to stop a moment and it was just you and him. His face held a desperate look in it, almost pleading you to take his hand within your own. You flashed back to the day Wilbur blew the country up, Tubbo called your name you glanced over your shoulder once towards Little Ram. You reached into your bag and dropped the diamonds you found for him on the ground, you grabbed Technoblade’s hand and squeezed it tightly. Technoblade smiled and yanked you forward, leaving a heartbroken Tubbo in your wake.
Should've just asked - Part 2 - Oscar Diaz
One week, seven days, 168 hours, 10080 minutes, 604800 seconds, since he fucked everything up with y/n. Threw it all away because his own insecurities got the better off him, all because he didn't just ask.
He hadn't seen sad eyes since that day either, leaving him alone to stew in his own bubble of self pity. He hadn't left his home since that day, instead opting to send Cesar to the store when something was needed or delegating his Santo's jobs to other members. The bags that y/n and Sad eyes had left behind in the mall sitting against the wall opposite him, mocking him with their bright colours and smiling logos, he'd looked through them as soon as he'd gotten home, each one filled with balloons, banners, anything you would need to through a birthday, even a badge that read 'birthday king' in big bold letters.
Today was his birthday, his 26th, a day where he should've been out in the yard celebrating with one of his famous Santo's parties with the love of his life by his side but instead he was sat in an empty house, bar his younger brother, wallowing in a pit of self pity.
"You still sulking?" Cesar asked as he watched his brother stare at the blank space by his feet, interrupting his pity party.
"Fuck off." He muttered, reaching for the half smoked joint that had been abandoned in the ashtray an hour ago.
"It's been a week Oscar, you can't sit around moping all the time, yeah you fucked up, I get it, but sitting here isn't helping anything." Cesar sighed, this past week he'd seen a side of his older brother that he couldn't remember seeing before, sad and bitchy Spooky was not a pretty sight.
"You don't get shit." Oscar sighed as he lit his joint, breathing in the smoke before exhaling slowly. "I fucked up the best thing to ever happen to me, to us, I lost mi amor Cesar." He mumbled, his eyes filling with tears that he rapidly tried to blink back.
"I know, I know I've never had anything like what you and y/n have, how about we go to the mall? I need some new trainers for school." Cesar asked, watching Oscars face carefully.
"Can't you take your little groupie with you?" Oscar muttered, stubbing out his joint in the ashtray before leaning back and covering his eyes with his arm.
"Please Oscar, it'll help get your mind of shit." Cesar tried again, desperate to get Oscar out of the house and the hole he was currently wallowing in.
"Fine." He sighed, pulling himself up and heading towards the door, missing Cesar pull out his phone and send a quick text.
He's out.
-------
Just down the street y/n grinned as her phone dinged, the text she'd been waiting for finally coming through.
"Hey Sad eyes!" She called into the spare room where he had been staying for the last week, opting to stay and comfort the upset girl rather than spending nights in his own bed.
"What's up?" He asked as he opened the door, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
"Were you seriously sleeping at 2 in the afternoon?" She asked with an amused smile. "Anyway, Cesar's managed to get Oscar out the house so I'm heading over there now, you coming?" She asked with a smile, excited yet nervous at the thought of seeing Oscar again.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming, just give me two minutes." The man grumbled before going back into the room.
Yes, y/n was still pissed about how Oscar had acted a week ago, calling her out for being a cheat in the middle of the mall after doing nothing more than planning his birthday. But at the same time the last week had been hell, she'd received multiple texts and missed calls from Oscar, all apologising for that day, for making a fool out of all three of them. No matter how badly he had embarrassed her that day he was still the only thing in her heart, the love of her life and she was determined not to throw it all away, they had fixed every other problem that had arose in their relationship and they was going to fix this too. Which is why her and Sad eyes were currently on their way to the Diaz household, ready to throw him the most surprising surprise party there ever was.
"Alright, you start to put the food out and I'll get started with the decorations." Y/n smiled as she went over to the bags sat against the wall, the same ones that her and Sad eyes had gotten at the mall. "I'm surprised he didn't throw this out." She mused, digging through the bags to find the balloons.
"I've told you, the guys borderline obsessed with you." Sad eyes laughed from the kitchen.
An hour later and everything was set up, banners covered the walls, balloons floated through the house and yard alike while the food and drinks tables looked immaculate, thanks to Ruby's help.
Everything was in full swing, music blasting, drinks in people's hands as she received yet another text that she was waiting for.
2 minutes out.
"Alright! Everyone be quiet, he's just coming!" Y/n yelled, the music being cut and the loud laughter turning to hushed murmurs as her nerves grew knowing Oscar was just about to walk through the doors.
The loud slamming of the front door caught everyone's attention as they stood anxiously waiting for the Santos leader, the faint 'what the fuck is this?' Making her chuckle only being able to imagine how confused Oscar must have looked right then.
"Surprise!" Everyone cheered as Oscar and Cesar appeared at the back door, Cesar sporting a grin as Oscars wide eyes roamed the crowd before landing on y/n.
"You did this?" He asked quietly, not yet making a move as his mind tried to decide whether this was real, if she really was stood right in front of him.
"Well." She smiled bashfully. "I had some help." She shrugged as Sad Eyes came from round the corner with two coronas in his hands.
"Happy birthday Spooky." He smiled, holding a bottle out for Oscar to take, smiling and clinking their bottles together once Oscar took one.
"Aye, listen man, I'm, uh, I'm sorry about hitting you, the other day." Oscar sighed, feeling weird having to apologise for punching someone who was basically his brother.
"No worries Spook." Sad eyes chuckled patting his brother on the shoulder. "Now go get your girl." He smirked, nodding towards y/n who was stood a few feet away talking to Cesar and Jamal.
"Hey, uh, can we talk?" Oscar asked walking up to her and rubbing the back of his neck from the nerves.
"Yeah, sure." She smiled, feeling her heart beating through her chest as she looked up into his eyes.
They were both stood staring at each other before Cesar clearing his throat pulled them out of whatever trance they were in.
"Hey Jamal how about we go find Ruby?" Cesar asked, raising his eyebrows at Jamal who just didn't seem to get the hint.
"What? Why? We see him all the time." The young boy shrugged, oblivious to the scowls he was receiving from the Diaz brothers and the amused look from y/n.
"Beat it." Oscar deadpanned, smirking as Jamal quickly turned and walked away leaving Cesar to follow with a chuckle.
"Was there any need for that?" Y/n giggled as she turned back to Oscar, looking up at him with an amused glint in her eye.
"Kid doesn't know when to take a hint." Oscar shrugged, not seeing the issue in how he spoke to Jamal in the slightest.
"Yeah well, he is Jamal." Y/n shrugged with a laugh. "Anyway, what was it you wanted to say?" She asked remembering why the Santo had come to her in the first place.
"I uh, I just wanted to say I'm sorry, ya know, for blowing up on you the other day, I know how stupid I was being and I called you out for bullshit you didn't even do." Oscar sighed, his hand that wasn't holding his beer clenching and unclenching at his side as he tried to find the right words. "Just uh, just the thought that you were out with some other cabrón made me see red, I didn't even think to ask, I just wanted to punch whoever it was in the face." He spoke quietly, y/n only just hearing him over the music that had started up again.
"Oscar, you're right, it was stupid." She snorted making Oscars heart drop his eyes going straight to the floor, it was too late. "But." She started, making his eyes flick back up to her immediately. "But I love you Oscar Diaz, I love you so fucking much that this last week has been killing me. I don't know what to do when I'm not with you Oscar, and I don't ever want to have to do that again." She sighed, a lone tear a sliding down her cheek which he quickly reached up to wipe away.
"I love you too mi amor, I know I get jealous and over protective but that's only because I don't want any one taking you away from me, not now, not ever." He mumbled shaking his head slightly before putting his bottle down on the nearest table.
"I know, baby, I know." Y/n smiled, reaching up taking his face in her hands, thumbs rubbing along his jawline gently. "You know if the roles were reversed I would've done much more to any hyna I thought was coming for you." She giggled, already having thrown hands with one before.
"Trust me, I remember, that shit was hot." Oscar chuckled, wrapping his arms around her waist as hers slid from his face to going around his neck, opting to rub the bottom of his neck rather than jaw line.
"Now what?" Y/n asked, her eyes flickering between his.
"What do you want?" Oscar asked quietly, not wanting to push her into anything that she didn't want.
"What do I want? I want you Oscar Diaz, I want you everyday for the rest of my life, jealousy and temper included." She laughed as he rolled his eyes sarcastically.
"Good." Oscar smirked down at her. "Because I ain't never letting you go." He whispered, pulling her towards him, leaning down and planting his lips on hers for the first time in a week.
"I love you Oscar." She mumbled happily, resting her head on his chest as his arms wrapped around her back.
"I love you too mi amor." He smiled, placing a kiss on her forehead and squeezing her tight.
"Also, watching you punch sad eyes in the face really turned me on." She mumbled with a laugh as she felt Oscar tense slightly.
"Is that right?" He chuckled, looking down at her. "Well it's been a week, we best take care of that." He laughed before pulling away and lifting her over his shoulder before heading into the house landing a swift smack to her backside.
"Woo! Spookys gunna get some!" Was heard as he carried her through to the bedroom, both of them laughing as he threw her onto the bed.
"You're so perfect mi Reina." Oscar whispered leaning over her as he stroked a few stray hairs out of her face.
"If anyone's perfect here it's you." Y/n smiled letting her eyes wonder his beautiful features. "Just promise me something." She mumbled after placing a quick peck to his lips.
"Anything." He answered immediately, ready to give anything and everything to make her happy.
"Next time, just ask." She giggled as he rolled his eyes.
"Putá." He mumbled as he leaned down for a slow kiss.
"But you love me anyway." She whispered.
"Always mi amor."
One week without seeing each other.
Seven days without so much as a smile.
168 hours without a kiss.
10080 minutes without an 'I love you'.
604800 seconds without each other.
One surprise party to fix it all.
Under Pastel Skies - 11
Sugar daddy!Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: Modern!AU Bucky doesn’t need anyone, especially not a sugar baby. He isn’t that desperate… but she smiles so sweetly and she’s endearingly awkward, and he’s so lonely. She’s an artist, a painter, the type of person who always puts others before herself. Throwing caution to the wind Bucky offers her a place to live, a place where she can finally paint whatever her heart desires. He doesn’t need much in return; a friend, a muse.
Word Count: 6,696
Warnings: Unprotected Sex (non explicit)
A/N: And finally... Just a word before, and it’s important, I wanted to put the explicit between two ‘*’ but I settled for one at the end because explicit means different things to different people. So whenever it starts to get too steamy for you, skip to the *. Thank you for reading, I appreciate your support!
Bucky moved behind the kitchen counter when he heard the door close. You and your guests were in the hallway where you took their coats and asked them to remove their shoes. He took a deep breath to calm himself. He had to stay calm, you depended on him tonight.
“It smells nice in here. What did y-”
Bucky straightened himself up and tried to keep a casual, friendly smile on his face as he came face-to-face with Okoye. He had seen enough pictures of your siblings to recognize them.
She looked surprised to find someone else there. He raised his hand and waved, and she frowned at him in confusion. The rest of the guests stopped short when they saw him waving like a dork. You pushed through them and came to his side.
“Guys, this is my friend, Bucky,” you said. “He’s the one who invited you.”
“Thanks for the invite. I hope you like wine,” Scott said, extending his hand as he walked over to Bucky.
“I sure do.”
Then he shook Wanda and Okoye’s hands, telling them how good it was to finally meet them. Your sisters introduced him to their partners, W’Kabi and Edwin who preferred to be called ‘Viz’.
You led them to the living room while Bucky prepared the drinks. W’Kabi decided to stay behind and help Bucky carry the drinks to the living room. He praised Bucky for having such a nice home.
The conversation seemed to flow easily between your siblings, though as Bucky arrived with your drink, he couldn’t help but notice that you were not participating. You took the glass from his hand, smiled then went back to staring at the coffee table. He sat next to you and rubbed soothing strokes on your arm before he reached for his drink.
Okoye was telling everyone that she had decided to return to New York after King T’Chaka’s passing. His son carried the mantle of the Black Panther, surrounding himself with his father’s Dora Milaje, but Okoye wanted to live closer to her own family.
She was a Dora Milaje, loyal to her king, but she was also a sister, loyal to her family. She felt like there were no good choices, and it ate away at her until her king found a solution to her problem. His little sister, Shuri, was starting her own business in the United States and needed her own bodyguards. Okoye accepted and W’Kabi followed her.
Scott didn’t share much. He showed everyone pictures of his little girl, Cassie, and said he was now working at Baskin-Robbins.
Wanda was evasive about her life and whereabouts. She told everyone that she’d been backpacking across Europe and met Viz, a wealthy businessman, on a beautiful sunny day in Berlin. They’d been attached at the hip ever since.
“And of course, you’re all invited to the wedding,” Wanda said while Okoye admired the ring. “It’s going to be a small wedding. I just need my family.”
“Excuse-me,” you said, standing up abruptly. “I think something’s burning.”
Bucky watched you disappear into the kitchen. He glanced at the group again, no one was paying attention so he followed you into the kitchen.
He found you leaning back against the counter, your arms crossed over your chest, staring into nothing. He walked over to you and pulled you into a one-armed hug that you accepted with a pleased sigh.
“I don’t think I can do this,” you said, your voice muffled against his shirt.
“Is it a code ‘flamingo’?”
“No,” you chuckled, pulling away. You took a deep breath and leaned back against the counter again. “It’s just...”
You huffed, unable to find the words and grabbed him by the waist, seeking his warmth again. Bucky let out a surprised laugh as you squeezed him tightly. He wrapped his arm around your shoulders and pressed you against his chest.
“I know it’s hard,” he said, kissing the crown of your head. “It’ll be over soon, angel.”
Bucky rocked you side to side in a slow, soothing rhythm until you were practically melting against him. He felt you take a deep breath, your nose buried in his chest. He didn’t want the moment to end, but you’d been gone for several minutes now, and the others would barge in the kitchen soon.
He pressed a long kiss to your forehead and gently pushed you away, his arm falling to your waist. You smoothed out the wrinkles you had made in his shirt without looking him in the eye.
He could tell you were thinking about something but before he could ask what was on your mind, you kissed the slight cleft in his chin and quickly moved away from him.
He smiled to himself, his heart beating a little faster.
You were transferring the dinner rolls from the pan to the basket when Scott poked his head into the kitchen. Bucky was still smiling to himself like a lovesick idiot.
“Everything okay?” Scott asked, taking a step closer to you. You turned to him and nodded. “It’s kinda weird, isn’t it?”
“What?”
“Seeing each other again after all this time.” He leaned his forearm on the counter next to you and smelled the bread. “Baby Wanda’s getting married. Did you know they flew me first class? And the hotel is incredible. I feel like a prince.”
“Viz seems very nice.”
“I can’t believe Wanda backpacked through Europe,” Scott scoffed. “She hates camping.”
“Yeah, I know.”
Bucky watched as Scott leaned closer and whispered in your ear. “Listen, I wanted to thank you for everything you did for me and for Cassie-” Bucky quietly left the two of you alone. It was a private conversation and he didn’t want to impose himself.
He finished setting the table, and soon everyone joined in. Bucky was sitting with his back to the kitchen, W’Kabi sitting next to him. You took a seat across from him, Wanda sitting next to you. Okoye sat next to Wanda, facing Scott, and Viz took a seat at the end of the table.
The food was good, and everyone complimented Bucky on his cooking skills. He said that you had helped him a lot, but you refused to take credit for chopping up a bunch of vegetables. You gushed about his cooking skills and his delicious recipes. It made them salivate just thinking about it.
“And your house is amazing,” Scott said with a dreamy look on his face. “A place like that...” he sighed, “that must have cost you an arm and a leg.” The whole room fell silent, and something that sounded like a foot hitting a shin made the table jump. “Ouch, why did yo- oh.”
Okoye was looking at him with the widest pair of eyes Bucky had ever seen. She looked furious and exasperated at the same time. The others stared at their plates as the uncomfortable silence grew.
Bucky glanced at you, not surprised to find you smirking. You knew he lived for moments like these, and you knew he already had the perfect comeback. As he watched you bit your lip, trying to contain a little giggle, he couldn’t help but love you even more.
“It was the original price but I’m a good negotiator,” Bucky said. “Only cost me an arm.”
W’Kabi was the first to laugh at his joke, then the whole table broke into fits of laughter. Scott looked equally amused and relieved.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t-”
“No problem,” Bucky cut him off.
“Can’t take you anywhere,” Okoye said with a smile and a shake of her head. She turned to Bucky as everyone calmed down. “So, Bucky, strange name, uh? What do you do for a living?”
“My name is James, Bucky’s just a nickname.” He wiped his mouth and set the napkin down. “I’m a writer.”
“A pretty good one, judging by your apartment.”
“I’m all right.” He shrugged. “Literally.” Scott snickered at the joke.
“He’s too modest,” you said. “His books are best sellers. They’re autobiographical, he’s very sincere and honest and funny. He has a way of making you laugh about things that are pretty awful.”
“Yeah, we saw that,” Wanda said with a grin. “Are you working on anything at the moment?”
Bucky shifted a little in his seat. “Yeah, it’s uh,” he cleared his throat. “It’s a very important one. I don’t really want to talk about it. Don’t wanna jinx it.”
He wasn’t going to tell your family that he was writing a book about how he fell in love with you. That’d be pretty awkward.
“I understand,” Okoye nodded, then looked at you. “You’ve been really quiet tonight.” You shrugged. “I thought you were still living with Natasha. Do you still work at the hotel? Where is it again? Chelsea? That’s one hell of a commute from Brooklyn.”
“I wasn’t exactly living with Natasha,” you said. “I was crashing on her sofa. And no, I quit six months ago. I’m a full time artist now.”
“That’s great,” Scott said, raising his glass toward you in a silent toast. “How’s that working out for you?”
“Not too bad. Bucky’s friend is a professional photographer. He helped me set up my website. The pictures he took are amazing. I sold a few pieces online but I’m struggling to find gallery representation.”
“Hey, as long as it pays the bills.”
“I don’t really have to worry about bills these days.”
“What do you mean?”
The room got quiet again, and Bucky could feel the tension in the air, buzzing like static electricity. All eyes were suddenly on you, waiting for an explanation. Bucky knew you were not going to lie to them. He locked eyes with you, and braced himself for impact.
You set your fork down and folded your hands in your lap.
“Well, Bucky and I have an arrangement.”
“I don’t like where this is going,” Scott cut you off.
“I’m not going to beat around the bush and I’m not going to use pretty words to make it sounds more appealing,” you continued as if you hadn’t heard him. “He’s my sugar daddy.”
“You’re joking. Please, tell me you’re joking.”
“Nope,” you replied smugly, popping the ‘p’.
A chorus of voices rose in protest. Okoye and Scott were shouting while the others kept glancing around wondering what had just happened. Wanda was strangely quiet next to you.
“Oh, shut up!” you shouted. “You left me alone. All of you. We were all grieving our brother but it doesn’t give you the right to fuck off when things get tough. Do you know how fucking terrifying it was when mom started to lose her memories? Or when the police drove her home at three in the morning after one of her spells? No, you don’t know because you weren’t there.”
Bucky had never seen you so upset before, and he didn’t quite know what to do but he felt like you needed to get it off your chest.
“I didn’t have friends or boyfriends. I went to class, then got home, hoping mom hadn’t set the house on fire. I took the first decent job I could find because she needed a new home and professional help. Without Natasha I would have been homeless.” You turned to Bucky. “I’m so sorry, I’ve ruined dinner. You’ve worked so hard.”
“It’s okay,” he replied immediately. “I’m with you.”
“God, you’re so nice,” you sighed, then turned to your siblings. “See? That’s the kind of person he is. I was lonely and lost, and I found him and he’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. He’s kind and sweet, he’s selfless and generous, and you have no right to criticize our relationship.”
Bucky stared at you, his mouth hanging open a little. Slowly he shook himself out of his trance and reached for your hand on the table. He had no idea you thought so highly of him.
“We needed each other,” you continued. “And I don’t care what you think.”
Dinner was officially ruined but Bucky didn’t care. He smiled at you, soft and reassuring, and let go of your hand when you smiled back. He was proud of you for speaking up, for standing up for yourself.
Bucky noticed Wanda and Viz exchanging looks.
“Okay so, since we’re sharing truth bombs,” Wanda said, shifting a bit in her seat. “I wasn’t really traveling through Europe. I went to Sokovia and after that, everything’s kind of a blur. I did things I’m not proud of. I wanted to forget,” she paused and sighed, “everything. I hit rock bottom, pretty hard, and checked myself into a psychiatric hospital. That’s where I met Viz. He helped me send you those postcards. I screwed up, real bad, but I couldn’t tell you guys the truth. I’m not really proud of myself.”
“I got fired from Baskin-Robbins for yelling at a costumer.”
“Okay!” Okoye exclaimed in her big sister voice. “Enough truth bombs.” She pointed at you. “I’m sorry you had to do this alone, it wasn’t right but we’re here now and we won’t let you down. As for the sugar daddy thing... well you’re a grown woman, you can do whatever you want. Bucky seems like a nice guy.” She turned to Wanda. “We are all dealing with our pain in our own way. I’m not judging you. We’re here for you, Wanda.”
“I know,” Wanda said, sniffing.
“And Scott, stop yelling at people.”
“Yeah, good idea.”
Bucky turned to W’Kabi and Viz who looked proud of their girls, albeit a little uncomfortable with the whole situation. Someone started chuckling, he couldn’t tell who it was, but suddenly the whole table broke into a fit of laughter.
“How about some dessert,” he said. “Then you guys can fill me in on some childhood secrets.”
As he walked away from the table, he heard you warn your siblings to keep their mouths shut. They laughed in response, which made Bucky smile. Surely it’d take more than one outburst at a family dinner to fix your broken bond but it was a good start.
During dessert, he learned that everyone called you ‘Splotchy’ because you painted on the living room walls as a child. He learned that you always wanted to play board games with Okoye. Your favourite one was Mystery Date.
“She had a crush on Tyler, the beach date.”
“No, that’s not true, don’t listen to them.”
When they finally left, you spent a few extra moments hugging everyone. Promises were made, and Bucky couldn’t help but smile as he watched you wave goodbye to your siblings.
It was just the two of you again, and the mountain of dirty dishes and silverware. He told you not to worry about the dishes, but you knew if he went to bed he wouldn't be able to sleep, not when the kitchen was such a mess so you cleaned together.
He loved these moments with you. There was something very peaceful about the night; the dark skies, the soft lights, the quiet apartment, knowing people all around town where getting ready for bed. It used to make him feel tiny and isolated but now, with you, the night didn’t seem so frightening anymore.
A few weeks went by, and things were changing a bit. You spent your Saturday mornings with your sisters, bonding, and facetimed with Scott at least once a week.
Bucky also noticed a subtle change in Sam’s behaviour. He seemed happier and he wondered if his friend had already forgotten Natasha.
It was almost June, and the building’s swimming pool reopened as the weather got warmer. Despite living there for several years, he had never gone near that swimming pool until you dragged him out one scorching afternoon.
The rooftop was surprisingly calm, apart for the group of children playing in the pool. There were people sunbathing around the pool, enjoying a good book, socializing. You dropped your bag on the floor and laid out your towel on the reclining chair.
Bucky had never seen you in a bathing suit before and it caught him completely off guard, but what made him literally growl was seeing the little pendant of your necklace rest against your skin. He didn’t know why but it awoke something in him.
You both slathered on sunscreen before you went for a swim. Bucky recognized a few neighbours, and while they all knew he only had one arm, they had never seen him shirtless before. Bucky didn’t mind their inquisitiveness, as long as you were beside him.
“Do you think the kids peed in the water?” you asked as you rested against the edge of the pool.
“Probably,” Bucky cringed. “When I was a kid, my mom told me that there were chemicals that turned the water a different color when someone pees.”
“Ew,” you laughed.
After a while, he lay out in the sun, enjoying the feel of the sun on his skin. He could still hear you playing water polo with the kids when a shadow passed over him. With a frown, he pushed his sunglasses up onto his forehead.
“It’s nice to see you, James,” his neighbour beamed, taking a seat on your unoccupied chair. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you out here.”
“Hi.” He wasn’t surprised when his voice came out hoarse since he had been on the verge of falling asleep. With the grace of a walrus, he propped himself into a sitting position. “Yes, well, swimming pools are more fun when you’re not alone.”
His neighbour turned to look at you. “Congratulations, by the way. I didn’t know you were seeing someone. Must have been serious if you two moved in together. How long has it been since she moved in? Six months?”
“Seven.”
He knew he should have corrected her, you weren’t his girlfriend, but it felt good. It was just a harmless little lie.
“Does she make you happy?”
“I’m the happiest man on earth,” he replied with a bright smile, then slid his sunglasses back on his face.
His neighbour chuckled quietly. “I can see that!”
When you returned to your seat, his neighbour was gone. You hummed to yourself as you settled into your seat, big droplets of water running down your body. Bucky tilted his head down and peered at you over the top of his sunglasses.
“Where did you get that popsicle?”
“Jealous?” You licked your treat without looking at him. “The kids’ mom gave me one as a thank you for looking after her kids.”
“That looks good.”
“So good.”
“Mind sharing it with me?”
You pursed your lips thoughtfully, then held out your popsicle. As Bucky leaned closer, you pulled it away and jumped to your feet. The look he gave you was one of pure betrayal.
“Oh, angel, you should have never done that.”
He grinned to himself when he saw a shiver run through you. When he stood up, you took a step back. He strutted toward you, his grin predatory. The floor was slippery so you couldn’t go very far.
“Are you ready to share now?”
“No!”
The popsicle melted down your hand, creating a mess. You turned your arm and licked the drops of popsicle juice from the inside of your wrist. It distracted you long enough for Bucky to wrap his arm around your waist, pulling you against him. You squealed and grabbed him around the neck to keep from falling while also trying not to smush the popsicle against his chest.
You waved the treat in front of his face and he tried to bite off the tip of your popsicle. It made you laugh, your body sagging against him. His face was close to yours. He was so close he could smell the artificial orange scent of your popsicle.
Your laughter died down and your breath caught in your throat when you saw the way he was looking at you. Without thinking, he went for it. He felt your fingers flex against his skin, urging him closer.
His lips were barely a breath away from yours when one of the kids repeatedly slapped your thigh, obviously oblivious to what the two grownups were about to do.
“Come back! We haven’t finished the game,” the kid whined. “Come on!”
Reluctantly, you let go of Bucky and took a step back. Your exhale came out shaky, and in your almost-kiss-induced trance you handed him the popsicle without saying anything before you followed the kid.
You turned back to look at him, one hand sprawled across your stomach, the other across your chest. He knew you were feeling it too: the butterflies, the racing heartbeat, that pleasant heat going through your body.
The difference between like and love.
A week later, he came home to an empty apartment. He climbed the stairs to your studio but you weren’t there. Instead, he found a canvas stretched out smooth and tight on the floor, and several bowls of paint arranged in a semi-circle around it.
He knew you were home, you wouldn’t leave without your phone or bag. Out of curiosity, he went up on the roof and let out a relieved breath when he found you.
You were sitting on the edge of the rooftop with your knees up to your chin and your arms wrapped loosely around your shins. You looked so beautiful in the golden hue of the setting sun.
He stood there, watching you as if he was looking at a painting in a museum. Entranced. You hadn’t noticed him yet, and a quick glance around the roof told him you were alone.
Slowly, he made his way to you and took in your appearance: a short sleeve white shirt and a pair of denim overalls. The shirt was surprisingly spotless but the overalls were covered in dried paint splatters of different colours.
“I looked everywhere for you,” he spoke softly, trying not to disturb you.
“Did you?”
You straightened up a little but kept your eyes trained on the horizon. Bucky sat close to your feet and let his hand slip under the hem of your jeans to close around your ankle. A sigh slipped past your lips, and he let his fingertips linger for a moment on your smooth skin.
He knew you had a meeting today, and judging by the resigned look on your face, it didn’t go well.
“What’s on your mind, angel?” he said, caressing the top of your foot.
“I was thinking about the night we met. God, I was so nervous,” you said, laughing softly. “I told you that agreeing to meet you was like choosing between a pack of wolves and jumping off a cliff.”
“I remember,” he chuckled.
“I never told you how glad I am that I jumped off that cliff,” you said. “I’d never jumped head first into something, not knowing what was going to happen. Now I think I’m addicted to it. Before I met you, I was living for others. Everything single decision was thoroughly analysed. There was no mystery, fun, or impulsiveness. I put my entire life on hold, and now I see that I can’t do that anymore.”
“What are you going to do?”
You paused, searching for the right words. “I don’t know if I want to turn my passion into a career. Painting is my safe-place, and right now it’s giving me so much anxiety. I haven’t had the inspiration to paint in weeks.” You looked at him and pressed your lips together tightly. “And, if I don’t want to become a full time artist, then I guess our deal is off.”
Bucky stared at you, mouth agape. He really hadn’t seen it coming.
“Please, don’t be angry,” you pleaded. “I don’t want to stop seeing you. When he didn’t answer, you leaned forward and touched his face.
“I could never be angry with you, angel,” he said, kissing the inside of your palm. “I understand, and I’ll help you however I can.”
“I’m not sure yet. I’m still thinking about it.” You looked away from him and stared at the sky. “Do you know that feeling when you stand in a high place and you think about jumping? You don’t want to jump and you don’t do it, but there’s that urge.”
“I think I do.”
“It’s called ‘call of the void’. People say that it’s an affirmation of our will to live. That knowing we’re going to die one day makes us appreciate life even more.” You looked at him. “I want to jump but I can’t. I’m scared.” You lowered your voice. “I don’t want to ruin what we have.”
“You’re scaring me a little. You can’t talk about jumping when we’re sitting on the edge of the roof.”
You chuckled under your breath. “It’s a metaphor.”
“Let’s go home. We’ll make dinner together, put on some music and pretend we’re in a movie.” He got to his feet and held out his hand to you. “Please.”
You took his hand and let him lead you to the staircase.
Once you were inside the apartment, he removed his shoes and you removed yours. Silence settled between the two of you as you entered the kitchen. Bucky moved behind the counter while you stood close to the dining table.
When he chanced a glance at you, he saw you staring into nothing while you played with the charm on your necklace, rolling it back and forth on its chain. You often did that when you were daydreaming.
Bucky walked over to you and placed his hand on top of yours, halting your movements. You let go of the pendant and held his hand instead. He ran his thumb soothingly over your fingers.
“Tell me what you’re thinking,” he spoke softly.
“If I say it, it’s going to change everything.”
He pressed your joined hands against his chest, over his heart. “No, it’ll make it real.”
He let go of your hand and cupped the side of your face. You leaned closer until you were only inches apart. His thumb traced your cheekbone, then moved to trace the outline of your bottom lip.
He let you come to him, let you take that first step, and when your lips brushed against his, he closed his eyes and sighed. He kissed your parted lips; once, twice, three times, tiny little kisses against your trembling lips.
His kiss grew bolder, turning into something so intimate, so passionate and intense that tears gathered in his eyes. He pressed his mouth more firmly against yours, his large hand still cupping the side of your face. His bad shoulder jutted forward as if his missing arm wanted to touch you.
He let out a groan, frustrated that he only had one hand to finally explore your skin. Sensing his inner turmoil, you held onto his bad shoulder and pulled him against you.
His tongue swept into your mouth, moving in a slow and deliberate rhythm. A growl escaped him and he deepened the kiss, tasting, sliding, retreating and entering again. He poured everything he had into the kiss.
“Bucky,” you moaned after your broke the kiss, breathless.
Hearing his name fall from your lips, your voice hoarse with desire, sparked something inside him. He swiped his thumb over your bottom lip, feeling the softness and collecting the moisture that had gathered there.
“You’re so beautiful,” he said, looking positively entranced. “My pretty angel.”
You pulled him in for another kiss and wrapped your arms around his neck, your slightly cold hands felt amazing against his heated skin. He pressed himself against you, letting you feel the rise and fall of his chest, the desperation in the jerky thrust of his hips.
He needed more but he wasn’t going to force you into anything. He was more than happy to stand here and kiss you for hours. He cupped the back of your neck and rubbed the sensitive skin behind your ear with his thumb.
“I’m yours,” he spoke against your lips, his eyes screwed shut.
You pulled back to look him in the eye, searching his face. He opened his eyes and you saw nothing but honesty in the depth of his eyes.
You untangled yourself from him and took his hand. Slowly, you took a step back, then another, his hand still in yours. His eyebrows lifted slightly when you bit your bottom lip and gave him a coy look.
He nearly growled again, the wolf inside him eager to touch you, feel you, claim you. He stood taller, his chest puffed out and breathing fast.
You led him up the stairs to the second floor and turned on the light in the corridor. You slowly made your way down the corridor with him behind you.
But instead of turning left towards his bedroom, you turned right into your studio, and it changed everything. Your studio was your sanctuary, your safe place, and knowing that you were about to bare your soul and body to him tamed his inner wolf.
You hesitated at the threshold of the room and glanced over your shoulder to look at him. Bucky squeezed your hand to encourage you.
“I bought some body paint on my way home,” you said, letting go of his hand to step into the room. “I wanted to try something different, something more personal. I wanted to use my body to express my emotions, to create something raw and messy. My interpretation of somatic art therapy.”
You moved around the darkened room; bent down to adjust the canvas on the floor and made sure the bowls of paint were still full.
“I sat there and thought of my mom and Pietro,” you continued, barefoot on the canvas. “I only feel sadness and anger, and I don’t want to create something that makes me feel sad. And I realized the only thing that keeps me inspired is hope.”
Turning to face him, you held your hand out, palm up, and his eyes widened at your silent request. Without thinking twice, he joined you on the canvas. It was both soft and scratchy under his feet.
Bucky watched as you unbuckled the right strap of your overalls and slipped the second strap off your shoulder. You tugged your jeans down your legs and tossed them aside, leaving you in your underwear and white shirt.
Swallowing thickly, Bucky let his eyes travel up and down your body. He had seen you in your bathing suit before but this was different. Then he reached behind his neck and pulled his shirt over his head, baring his strong chest, hard abdomen and marred skin.
The room was dark; the pastel sky, visible from your studio thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, didn’t provide much light. The light was still on in the corridor, casting a faint golden glow over the room.
You took a step forward to examine his scars more carefully and Bucky took that opportunity to kiss you again, slowly, intimately. He peppered kisses along your jaw and down your neck, then went down on his knees in front of you and continued his journey down your body, pressing soft kisses to your stomach.
He accidentally knocked over two bowls of paint; the dark colours spilled out onto the canvas, chasing each other. His kisses made you light up with desire, your moans music to his ears as your hands came down on the back of his head.
When it all became too much, you gently pushed him into a lying position and helped him out of his jeans. His belt buckle made a faint clink when you pulled it open, and Bucky swore out loud when you planted a wet open-mouthed kiss right below his navel.
In the back of his mind, he knew he wasn’t going to survive the night. He let his head fall back against the canvas and closed his eyes shut. Your talented mouth sent sharp jolts of pleasure through him, making it difficult to breathe.
He could feel the paint stick to his back, creating the shape of his upper body on the canvas. It was strangely exciting.
He moaned, arching his back, and slammed his fist down on the canvas. His fist landed in one of the bowls of paint. It splashed paint everywhere. He looked down at you and saw tiny flecks of paint splayed like freckles on one side of your face.
It made you both giggle. As he pushed himself up into a sitting position, Bucky left a print of his forearm on the canvas. You climbed into his lap, straddling him, then removed your shirt and bra. You wrapped your legs around him, one hand on his upper arm, the other hugging his neck.
Bucky was sitting on the canvas with his legs outstretched and slightly bent at the knees. He held you against his chest, rocking back and forth, his arm around the small of your back. You sighed together, sharing the same breath.
“You have the prettiest nose.” You let your index finger run down the length of his nose, your finger wet with paint. “So pretty.”
Laughing softly, he brushed his nose against yours and kissed you. He changed the angle of his thrusts, catching you by surprise.
“Does that feel good, angel?” he asked, lightly biting your jaw. You answered with a short cry. “Look at me.” You slowly opened your eyes, your movements faltered a little. “You’re so beautiful like this. You drive me crazy, y’know that?”
“Bucky,” you cried out.
He felt you shiver when he moved his hand from your back to your face. He cupped the side of your face and you immediately pressed yourself closer to him, craving the warmth of his touch.
He stopped your movements and looked you in the eye. “I’d do anything for you. Anything. You’re my one and only.”
He laid you down as gently and safely as he could, and once you were lying flat on your back, he sprawled between your thighs. He supported his weight on his forearm, careful not to crush you. Your hands slid up his sides, and as your thumb traced over his ribcage, a violent shiver went through his body.
He had never seen anything more beautiful than watching you come apart; your eyebrows furrowed, your lips parted in a silent ‘o’, the way your body shook in little spams. Absolutely stunning.
Exhausted, he collapsed on top of you and hid his face in the crook of your neck. You wrapped your arms around him and slowly caressed his back.
After he kissed his way down the side of your neck, he straightened himself up into a kneeling position and looked down at you. Your naked body was on display, covered in paint and glistening under the moonlight. He wished he could take a picture, immortalize this memory.
*
He helped you up, and after another passionate kiss he led you to his bathroom, the two of you leaving colourful footprints all over the clean floor.
The bathroom's bright fluorescent light was harsh and unforgiving as you looked at each other in the mirror. Yet you were both glowing, streaks and dots of paint covering your bodies. Bucky turned on the water and waited for it to get hot.
He wrapped his arm around you from behind and rested his chin on your shoulder. “We look like we blew up a rainbow,” he said, smiling wide when it made you chuckle.
In the shower, you took turns washing each other, laughing and kissing until the water turned cold. You pushed his hair out of his eyes and smiled sweetly at him.
“We’re going to catch a cold if we stay here.”
“Mhh,” he replied, kissing your temple. “You’re right. There are clean towels on the shelf. Go, I’ll be right behind you, I still need to take care of my scar.”
“Can I help you?”
Asking for help wasn’t something he was comfortable with, especially after years of being babied by his ex-girlfriend, friends and family. After his accident, he couldn’t do anything on his own. He had to rely on others and it made him feel like a burden, like he was incapable of taking care of himself.
He knew it was all in his head but he couldn’t help it.
“It’s not exactly sexy,” he said.
“I don’t care. I want to help. Tell me what to do and I’ll do it.”
Patiently he guided you step by step through the process of cleaning his stump. You inspected his skin thoroughly, looking for irritation or any signs of infection, then washed it with a mild soap.
He had to admit that watching the woman he loved take such good care of his scar made his stomach fill with butterflies. You looked so focused, so attentive, that he could help but smile and try to kiss you.
“Bucky,” you complained, turning your head away, avoiding his kiss. “This is serious business, stop fooling around.”
He almost said it. I love you. But something was holding him back. He didn’t know what would happen next and it scared him. He didn’t want this to be a one-time thing, but he also realized that things were moving too fast.
“Okay, now you’re shivering,” he said, holding you close, trying to share his body heat with you. “Let’s get out of here.”
He wrapped you in a fluffy bathrobe and patted you dry. Then you carefully dried his scar and applied corticosteroid cream to his shoulder, massaging it gently into his skin. He slipped on his robe and you loosely tied the belt at his waist.
“We should talk about what just happened,” you said, playing with the belt. “What does it mean? What are we going to do? Can we-mph”
He cut you off with a kiss, long and hard and filled with passion. You smiled against his lips and finally pulled away.
“Is that how you’re going to shut me up from now on?” you asked with a grin.
“We’ll talk,” he said, pressing his forehead against yours. “But not tonight.”
“When then?”
“Tomorrow, I promise.”
You looked down at your hands on his belt and nodded. He tilted your head up and lowered his mouth to yours.
“Don’t avoid me tomorrow. Please.”
Your words felt like a knife in his heart, and it left him momentarily speechless. He took one of your hands and pressed it against his heart. “No matter what we decide to do, you’re my angel and I’m yours.”
You shared a long, silent hug before you both decided to call it a night. Once he saw the footprints in the corridor, Bucky felt the urge to clean them. He tried to resist but he knew if he didn't clean he wouldn't be able to sleep.
You understood –you always understood. That’s why he felt so comfortable with you.
Once it was clean, he joined you in the kitchen and made you breakfast for dinner, opening the cupboard and pulling out a couple boxes of cereal you didn’t even know he had.
He told you that he was keeping them for a special occasion. He remembered you telling him that it was your favourite meal as a kid, watching TV with your siblings every Sunday night, eating cereals.
“I can’t believe you remembered that,” you said, tears in your eyes.
The two of you sat on your bed, sharing random thoughts and spoonfuls of cereal. You giggled as milk dribbled down his chin and stained his robe. You wiped at the spot on his chin with your thumb and gave him a chaste kiss.
Your lips tasted sweet. Bucky pulled you in for another kiss, discarding the dirty dishes on your bedside table. You helped each other undress, then slid under the covers where you laid your head on Bucky’s chest.
“Bucky,” your voice cut through the quiet. “Do you mind-”
“Don’t worry, my angel, I’ll wait until you fall asleep.”
“Thank you.”
It's As Real As You And Me
Batsis x Kyle Rayner One-Shot
Word Count: 2.1K Warnings: Explicit Language, Angst,
Author's Note: If you cry while writing, it means you're doing it right...right? -Thorne
**********************************************************************
“Do we have to get out of bed today?” he groaned, silencing the alarm that had been snoozed at least three times before. “I don’t wanna get out of bed today.”
She snorted at him, rolling rather slowly to face his bedside. “I don’t think we have to.” She said. “We’re old. We can do whatever we want.”
He thought for a moment, old eyes trying to focus on the woman beside him; but without his glasses he couldn’t see a damn thing. “Breakfast at Pop’s?”
“That sounds wonderful,” she replied, rising from the bed. “I’m showering first.”
“Oh no you don’t!” he retorted, trying to hurry after her and she laughed, pushing him back onto the bed.
“Stop that, Kyle, before you pop your hip outta place again.”
“Ah, it’ll pop back in, (Y/N). Quit worrying.”
(Y/N) frowned at him, pointing, “You keep on and I’ll talk the kids into putting us into an old folks’ home so I can keep an eye on you better.”
“You wouldn’t do that,” Kyle griped. “We’d lose the only independence we’ve got, and you don’t wanna do that.”
They glared at each other for a minute before smiles split across their faces and they fell into laughter, pressing their foreheads together.
“I love you, Kyle Rayner.”
He gently raised a hand, caressing her cheek. “And I love you more, (Y/N) Rayner.” Pecking her lips three times, he pulled away and she helped him to his feet.
“C’mon. Let’s go get ready.” She said and he gasped dramatically.
“Well, Missus Rayner, you want to fool around in the shower? At our age?” he teased, and she rolled her eyes.
“God, it’s been like seven decades and you’re still the biggest skirt chasing dork ever.”
Kyle grinned at her. “I try.”
***
“Did KJ call you back like he said he was going too?”
“Mhm,” he answered, cutting into the waffles on his plate. “Spoke to him last night. Said he’d call again after he and Thomas get back from Vermont with Sophia and the other grandkids.” He looked at her, putting the fork in his mouth. “Martha Ann call you about Devin?”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes. “Yes. He’s gotten in trouble with GCPD again.” She waved it off, picking up her coffee cup. “I’ve half a mind to tell her to send our grandson to Jason and let him sort that boy out.”
Kyle snorted. “Jason would wear that kid like a slipper.”
“That’s what he needs.” She shot back. “This is the second time in a month that he’s been caught shoplifting. Mark my words, husband of mine, that boy’s a kleptomaniac and if Martha Ann doesn’t do something about it, he’s going to get worse.”
He placed a hand on hers. “You’re getting worked up again. Relax.”
“How many times have I told you not to tell me to relax?”
“I don’t know, how many times have I not listened?”
“Ass.”
“Old lady.”
“I swear I’ve never seen two elderly people more in love and so at odds with one another than I have you two.” They glanced up, seeing Stacy with the coffee pot and another plate of eggs and bacon. “Refills?”
(Y/N) smiled and held out her cup. “Thanks Stacy.”
“Of course!” she looked at her. “You two going anywhere after this?”
Kyle met (Y/N)’s gaze and offered a shrug; she nodded. “I suppose we could take a drive around the countryside. You know, like old people do on Sundays.”
Stacy laughed. “Missus Rayner, you don’t look a day over twenty-five. Now Mister Rayner, I’m afraid that white hair of yours tells me you are more than a few over twenty-five.”
He scowled at the waitress. “If there was ever a time I wish was still in my twenties, it’d be now.” He gestured to the walking cane. “Bum hip. Bum leg.”
“Bum head.” (Y/N) coughed under her breath and he glared at her.
“You think you’re funny.”
“I think I’m adorable.” She smirked, waggling her brows and Stacy merely laughed, wandering back into the kitchen. (Y/N) sighed. “It does make you think though…about the old days.”
Kyle nodded. “I wouldn’t trade our time for anything but...” he squeezed her hand. “I want to be back in that suit just for a minute.”
(Y/N) nodded. “Yeah…patrolling with dad and Dick and the others.” Her eyes started to moisten, and she inhaled sharply, dabbing at her eyes. “Sorry sweetheart.”
His smile held sympathy. “You never have to apologize, muse.” She saw his Adam’s apple bob slightly. “I miss them too.” His voice was rather hoarse, and they sat in silence the rest of the meal, remembering their dearest siblings and friends who’d passed on. Her father Bruce, and oldest brother Dick, both their wives too. And Kyle’s closest friends had all gone on too; Guy, John, and Hal had passed the month before.
The price of getting old, they guessed.
***
“I wish my hands were still able to hold pencils like I once could.”
(Y/N) rested her head on his shoulder, eyes scanning the expanse of the sunset before them. “I know what you mean.” She inhaled the scent of the freshly cut grass beside the shore. “Your painting of this would be beautiful.”
Kyle hummed. “Not as beautiful as you are.”
“I’m ninety-two and you’re telling me that even covered in wrinkles and white hair that I’m prettier than the skyline?”
He nodded. “Always have been.” He shifted until he could see her face. “Always will be, my beautiful muse.”
(Y/N) grinned like the heavens had split and leaned close, pecking his three times lips. “I love you, Kyle Rayner.”
“I love you more, (Y/N) Rayner.”
***
She turned the burner off, pouring the gravy into the boat, before setting it on the small table. “Dinner’s ready.” She called towards the living room. He’d gone into the old study when they’d gotten home and pulled out his art supplies, determined to prove he still had it.
(Y/N) frowned. “Sweetheart, dinner’s ready!” she called a little louder that time and then huffed a laugh. “Fool fell asleep.”
Wandering through the kitchen doorway into the living room, she saw him in his recliner, chin tucked into his chest, eyes closed. She sat on the side of his recliner and touched his shoulder. “Kyle, dinner’s on the table.” He didn’t open his eyes and she bent her head down to look at his face. “Kyle?”
She reached down and took one of his hands, it was cooling. “Sweetheart?” Something tightened in her throat and with her other hand, she gently pressed underneath his jaw, holding for a few seconds before she let out a pained breath. “Oh, Kyle.”
(Y/N) curled her hand tighter around his, leaning down to press her lips to his temple. She couldn’t bring herself to move as she let out a quiet sob, pressing her face into his hair. “I love you,” she whispered. “I hope you know that.” Her lips wobbled and tears cascaded down her cheeks. “I wouldn’t trade our seventy-five years for anything. We lived a beautiful life.”
She pulled away and gently took his glasses off his face, setting them onto the table. Her eyes fell to his lap where his other hand lay, a color pencil still held in it. (Y/N) felt a watery laugh bubble in her chest as she saw the last masterpiece he’d ever made.
A portrait of the sunset they'd been looking at that day. A beautiful blend of red, orange, pink, and purple cascading across the sheet like an explosion of the sky.
Her eyes fell across the words written in white along the edge,
To my beautiful muse. Always and forever.
He still had it.
And it was perfect.
***
“Julia, can you push me out onto the patio?” she asked, looking out the window. “I think I wanna sit outside for a few moments.”
The young woman, no older than twenty-two smiled brightly. “Of course, Miss Rayner!” she happily complied, pushing (Y/N)’s wheelchair out onto the cobblestone patio, sitting her next to the table. “Do you want me to bring your dinner to you?”
(Y/N) nodded. “I’d like that. Thank you.”
“Alright, I’ll be back in a few moments.”
Julia wandered off and she glanced towards the skyline. It had been about six months since she let her children talk her into getting an in-home nurse after he had passed. She had argued, but after falling twice, she knew it was time to have someone look after her. (Y/N) was adamant about not going to a senior citizens home; she wanted to stay in the home her and him had built until she went too.
Her children and grandchildren had visited her the week before, all having to return to their lives once school had started and jobs went back. She understood—(Y/N)’d once been a busy wife and mother too. But it was lonely without him, and she missed him dearly.
Her eyes found the skyline again and she sighed heavily, feeling rather tired all of the sudden. A little nap wouldn’t hurt. And she knew Julia wasn’t the best cook so it’d take a while before dinner would be ready.
Just a few minutes of sleep.
Just a few minutes.
Just a few—
***
A warm breeze blew across her skin, and she cracked her eyes open, glancing out the open window of her bedroom. It felt like a normal Saturday morning. The type of mornings where she’d wake up to Tim or Damian jumping on her bed and telling her to get down to breakfast.
She blinked a few moments, not registering a thing until someone chuckled beside her. “You’ve been sleeping pretty soundly, sweetheart.”
Looking over, her eyes widened as she saw her father before her, young and handsome like he’d once been, sitting on the side of her bed. “Dad?” she breathed, and he smiled.
“Hello (Y/N).”
She shot up in a second, wrapping her arms around his neck, his own winding around her waist. “Dad,” she cried, tears gathering in her eyes. “You’re here.”
“I think it’s you who’s here, (Y/N).”
“What?” she pulled away and looked at him; her eyes drifted to the mirror hanging beside her door and she caught sight of herself—it registered as she lifted her hands to her face, no more wrinkles, no more snow-white hair, no more aches and pains.
“Looks like I fell asleep for more than a few minutes, didn’t I, dad?” she laughed, though she felt a deep sorrow.
He smiled sadly at her. “It’s the best way to go.”
(Y/N)’s eyes filled with tears, and she gazed at him. “I’ve missed you so much, dad.”
“I’ve missed you more, sweetheart.” Bruce replied, gently thumbing her cheek. “All of you.” He smiled again. “But you’re here now…and there’s a lot of people waiting to see you.”
Standing from the bed, he held his hand out to her and she took it, letting him pull her up; he walked over to the door and opened it, pulling her along as he stepped through it.
The scenery shifted from that of her bedroom to the backyard of Wayne Manor and she looked out to a large picnic table and seated around it were all the family and friends she’d lost through the decades. Dick was waving like a maniac, Kori beside him doing the same. They both looked young too. Hal, Guy, and John were sitting on the other side, ribbing Wally, Roy, and Garth over something; they too were young.
“I don’t understand,” she whispered. “Why is everybody young again?”
Bruce hummed. “We all return to the best moments in our lives. When we were our biggest and greatest.” He glanced over her at something and smiled. “There’s someone who’s been waiting for you.”
(Y/N) looked at him with pulled brows then over in the direction he was, and she brought a hand to her mouth. She broke into a dead sprint across the backyard, leaping into his open and waiting arms. He lifted her with ease, like he used to do when he was young. Spinning them around, he buried his face in her hair as she buried hers in his shoulder as she shook with sobs.
“Sorry I wasn’t able to have dinner with you one last time, (Y/N).”
She pulled away and placed her hands on his cheek, putting their foreheads together. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there with you, Kyle.”
He shook his head, smiling at her. “You were there.” He reached up, putting a hand on her cheek. “You look as beautiful as the day I left you.”
(Y/N)’s lips wobbled, but she smiled widely. “I love you, Kyle Rayner.”
“I love you more, (Y/N) Rayner.” He pecked her lips three times. “Forever.”
“First Saturday of the month. You know what that means,” Tony hollered to the Avengers scattered about the Tower.
“Yes!” Thor boomed. “Be prepared to lose.”
“Funny,” Clint laughed with a roll of his eyes. “I was just about to say the same thing to you.”
“What is happening?” you asked, somewhat bewildered, as the heroes came into the room. “What’s significant about Saturday?”
“Oh my gosh, that’s right. You just missed the last one. Every first Saturday of the month we have a game night,” Nat explained.
You’d been part of the team for just under a month, having officially joined on a Sunday. So, it was true that you’d yet to experience their apparently traditional game night. It sounded like a great deal of fun, though, especially because the Avengers had become your second family in the short time you’d known them. Well, you’d actually known Nat and Clint for years, since you all worked for SHIELD. In fact, they were a huge part of the reason you were an Avenger now. A few months ago there was a particularly dangerous crime ring, and they’d specifically requested you as backup. You’d clicked with everyone immediately and, numerous transfer papers later, here you were.
“Sounds exciting!” you told them. “What are we playing first?”
“Well actually,” Bruce said kind of sheepishly, “it’s not that I want you to sit out, but they’re all team games, and we don’t have an even number of people.”
“So we have a team of three,” Nat said, as if it were obvious.
“No way. That’s unfair,” Tony argued.
You bit your lip, feeling like maybe you were intruding on something you shouldn’t be a part of. It was their thing, after all, and perhaps there was simply no room for a newcomer. As they continued to bicker about whether one larger team mattered or not, you considered just slipping away. That’s when you noticed that there was someone missing.
“What about Loki?” you said. “He would make the numbers even.”
Much to your surprise, everyone burst out laughing. You nervously ran your sweaty palms on the legs of your pants and let out a small laugh, though you weren’t quite sure at what. Once their cackling died down, you dared to ask what was so funny.
“My brother never attends these games nights,” Thor informed you. “He isn’t one for group activities, as I’m sure you’ve noticed.”
“Well, have you ever invited him?”
“Once or twice,” Tony said. “Listen, if you want to try to make a social butterfly out of Reindeer Games, be my guest. In the meantime, we’ll work out a feasible way for us all to play.”
You rolled your eyes and scoffed a little, standing up to go find Loki. It was honestly ridiculous that they still treated him the way they did. Sure, he likes to be alone sometimes, but that doesn’t mean he likes being lonely. Not that he’d ever actually admitted to you that he was, but you knew. It was blatantly obvious in the way he sent longing glances toward the rest of the team when you gathered together. You always made sure to ask him over, an invitation he usually accepted. Everyone else had laughed the first time you’d done that, too. They’d only ever asked him a few times, and it was right when he was new and still so lost, so alone, so afraid. Why they took that to just be his permanent disposition, you didn’t know. Regardless of how insensitive they were to his situation, your inclusivity had brought Loki out of his shell a bit, and a friendship had blossomed between you.
A short walk later, you reached his door. You stretched out a hand, but hesitated to knock. Doubt gnawed at the back of your mind. Maybe he truly was not a fan of board games, and then you’d be interrupting his night. After all, he must have a tradition of his own if this happens every first Saturday. Still, you knew that was usually not the case, and steeled yourself against the uncertainty.
“Hello, my little mortal,” he greeted you, opening the door. “Is everything alright?”
“No.”
“What is it? Are you ill? Hurt?” he questioned, jumping into action and shepherding you to his couch.
“No, nothing like that,” you laughed, though you were touched by his concern. “It’s just that it’s game night, and we don’t have an even number of people.”
“Oh? And I suppose that you are asking me to join,” he mused as you nodded. “I am not usually invited, and I am notorious spoiled sport, just ask Thor.”
“Well, people say a lot of things about you, and they’re usually not true.” He shrugged his shoulders. “You don’t have to play if you really don’t want to, but will you? Please. For me?”
“For you, my little mortal, anything. After all, how can I resist those puppy dog eyes?”
You giggled and led the way out of his room, ignoring the thumping of your heart when his hand accidentally brushed yours. Nat and Tony were still bickering about the teams when you arrived, but were quickly stunned into silence when they saw Loki.
“Brother! Good to see you’ve decided to join,” Thor greeted, breaking the somewhat awkward silence. “Shall we begin then?”
First up was Cranium, and you could tell that everyone else was divided into their usual teams: Tony and Bruce, Clint and Nat, Thor and Steve. You rubbed your hands in excitement, ready for some friendly competition.
“Yes!” you shouted a while later, after you and Loki answered the final question right. “We win!”
Everyone else’s jaw hung open, shocked by how serious of a competitor you were. Not to say you were mean-spirited or gloated or anything, but it was obvious you took game night very seriously. Loki was a little surprised too, but he relished in the infectious energy of your feisty spirit. Not to mention he absolutely loved to be on the winning team.
“Congratulations, guys,” Steve said. “Don’t expect to get as lucky in the next game, though.”
The next game, apparently, was charades, which you and Loki absolutely dominated again. The two of you worked as a well-oiled machine, guessing the simple ones like sewing and the more obscure ones like whale watching with ease. Loki was also surprisingly knowledgeable about Midgardian movies and literature. The two of you high fived, having just edged out the competition.
“Wow, good job guys,” Nat congratulated. “Tony and Bruce usually win that one.”
“Way to rub it in,” Tony groaned, flopping back on the couch.
You could tell a part of him wanted to accuse Loki of cheating but, having no real evidence and not wanting to start a fight, restrained himself. Instead, he contented himself with just mumbling how much of an outrage it was. You, however, were on cloud nine.
As the next game was set up, Loki pulled you onto his lap, instilled with confidence after his latest wins. Of course, if anyone were to ask, he would just say he was saving room on the couch. It would have, though, been a lie.
“Ready for a clean sweep, my little mortal?” he whispered, his breath surprising cold on your ear.
“Bring it on!” you whispered back with a wink.
The last game of the night was Pictionary, and by now everyone knew you and Loki were the team to beat. Unfortunately for them, you got this win, too. The Avengers let out a collective sigh as you shouted a victorious whoop and hugged Loki.
“Good game everyone,” you said, starting to help clean up.
“What are you doing, my little mortal?” Loki questioned, half joking. “Do you not know the losers have to clean up?”
“Not sure that’s actually a rule, Rock of Ages,” Tony grumbled.
“Fine, I’ll help,” he replied, placing a singular piece back in the box. “There. Now it is time for our victory lap.”
Then he scooped you up bridal style using his superhuman strength and began running you around the Tower in his arms, both laughing the whole time. He finally brought you to a stop on the balcony of his room.
“You’re ridiculous, you know that right?” you said, still chuckling.
“Perhaps. But we deserved that after an excellent showing.”
“I guess so. As much as it pains me to admit it, we should probably go easy on them next time. We’ll just win one a night, ok?”
“That’s my little mortal,” he happily sighed, wrapping his arms around you. “Always looking out for others. Always looking out for me. Thank you for inviting me along tonight.”
“No problem. It was a lot of fun. We make a pretty good team.”
“Indeed.”
A comfortable silence settled between you, and you rested against Loki, whose arms were still wrapped around you. He felt more relaxed and happy than he had in a while. He knew he’d ask you out someday, but right now he was still too shy, this friendship still too new. One day he would, though, and he couldn’t wait to get there and to every day after.
I Found My Light: Chapter 2 (Kakashi X Reader)
Chapter 1
A/n: Well, I decided to continue! I'm very excited about this. Hope you enjoy it!
Summary: Left confused after last night, you talk with Kurenai over breakfast at your favorite diner.
Word Count: 1400
Warnings: fem!reader, SFW (but might not be later lol)
“You… cuddled?” You could feel Kurenai’s eyes burning into the top of your head as you stared down at the coffee cup between your hands, her tone of disbelief unquestionable.
“I mean, yeah, I don’t know how else to describe it,” you started, nervously biting your lip, “one moment we were under the tree with his arms wrapped around me, and the next I was waking up in my own bed this morning with him nowhere to be found.” It was strange really. You don’t remember even moving from the spot you two were in, so how could you have made it all the way home without waking up? Did he carry you all the way there? Teleport? How does he even know where you live?
“Are you sure you’re not imagining it? Sounds to me like you were just having a realistic dream.” You could see Kurenai’s hand reach out and grab your wrist, giving it a small squeeze. “Didn’t you say you were thinking about him the other day? Maybe he just ended up slipping into your dream because you miss him.”
Looking up from your cup, you meet her sympathetic eyes. Kurenai knows more than anyone else about the feelings you had for Kakashi when you were young, so dreaming about him wouldn’t be a far-fetched idea.
“Listen, I get why you would think that way,” you started, “but I’m telling you, as ridiculous as it sounds, that’s what happened.” You lean back into the booth and fold your arms across your chest, escaping Kurenai’s grasp. There’s absolutely no way you will let anyone take that moment away from you, you decided.
“Alright, alright, I believe you!” Kurenai chuckled with her hands coming up in defense. “If you want I can ask Asuma to tell me if Kakashi says anything about it to him. I mean I highly doubt Kakashi would go around telling people you two had a cuddle session, but who knows? He sounds like a whole new man.”
“Order’s up!” Your waiter exclaimed, bringing three plates of food over to your booth. “Let’s see I have the eggs and bacon,” placing the plate in front of Kurenai, “the veggie scramble, and the pancakes you wanted to share.” Placing the rest of the plates down, you both give him a warm smile and a thank you.
“Mmm yum.” You both say in unison as you begin to eat.
“Honestly, (y/n), you better hurry up and eat that scramble because I am ravenous right now and will finish our pancakes before you even get to them.” Kurenai teased with a mouth full of eggs.
“You eat my half of the pancakes and you can expect a kunai in your back during training today.” You threatened, pointing your butter knife at her.
“Wait,” Kurenai paused and then gasped, “that’s right!”
“What?” You ask, a tad concerned at her excitement.
“Kakashi!”
“Kakashi—”
“Will be at training today!” She exclaimed. You could feel the blood begin to drain from your face. “Yeah since he’s not a member of the Anbu anymore he has time to train with us. Gui finally convinced him to, saying something about taking advantage of the springtime of our youth.”
“Ah, typical Gai.” You spoke flatly, trying to remain as casual as possible, but inside you began to panic. How are you going to face Kakashi so soon? You have absolutely no idea how he feels about last night. I mean, he instigated the cuddle session but left you in your bed this morning without any word. Were you supposed to keep that moment between you a secret? Did you already mess up by telling Kurenai? How could you be so—
“(Y/N)!”
You snapped out of your train of thought and met Kurenai’s concerned eyes, a small smile forming at the corners of her mouth.
“(Y/n), I can feel you spiraling from over here.” She gave you a small chuckle. “You’re going to be fine. If anything, he should be the one nervous to face you. How can he explain what happened last night without admitting he has feelings for you?” She reasoned while taking the last bite of her half of the pancakes.
“Admitting he has feelings for me?” You repeated in disbelief after a pause. “You can’t be serious.”
“Well, how else do you explain it?”
“He’s lonely, or lost.” You begin to think out loud. “Ah, or he needed human connection and I was the only one around, simple as that.” Proud of your answer, you take the last couple bites of your food as well.
“I suppose you could be right,” Kurenai began, “but you're definitely wrong.”
“How am I wrong?”
“Well, to be completely honest with you, if anyone in the world ends up with Kakashi, it’s going to be you,” Kurenai stated matter-of-factly.
“What!” You scoffed. “Absolutely not.”
“Hey, hey, not too fast there with the rejection.” Kurenai reasoned. “Besides Rin, you were the only girl he gave any attention to.”
Rin.
My poor Rin.
I miss her.
“You realize that’s because Rin and I were best friends right? I was only given attention by association. He was close to me because he had to be.” Your voice began to trail off at the end as you could start to feel your throat tighten, Rin’s death still stinging like salt in an open wound. “Don’t forget what happened in the months after Rin’s death.”
“I know,” Kurenai said almost to herself.
You continued anyway, “He avoided me. We crossed paths probably a thousand times at Rin’s grave, no words exchanged. Until one day I told him that I knew what happened and that I didn’t fault him for any of it. Then we exchanged a few words here and there only for it to ultimately fizzle out again. Now here we are, years later, and we’re somehow connected again? Seemingly out of nowhere? It makes no sense.” Damn, maybe I was dreaming.
“Maybe it does.”
“How?”
“Well,” Kurenai sat back and began to play with the ends of her hair, “what if he wants to start over? What if he wants to get back to the way things were before?”
“When we were just little genin?”
“Sure.”
“Or,” you began after a moment, “he feels guilty and wants to clear his conscience.” That sounds more realistic.
“Ah, there you go being a grade-A pessimist again.” Kurenai chuckles with her hand covering her face. “How about we quit the speculation and just find out naturally?”
“Fine.” You sighed, putting your chin in your hand while gazing out the diner window.
“It’s tragic really.” Kurenai pondered, also staring out into the distance.
“What?” You looked at her confused.
“We should’ve gotten two orders of pancakes. I’m still hungry.” She complained.
You stared at her for a moment, unamused while she gave you a big, goofy grin.
Finally feeling yourself break into a smile, you laughed and threw your napkin at her face. “I swear the only things on your mind are Asuma and pancakes. You have a problem.”
“Ugh, not true!” She joked, pretending to be offended. “I also think about how nice it would be if my future maid of honor and Asuma’s future best man were in a happy, fulfilled relationship together.” She stated, wiggling her eyebrows.
“Shut up.”
“Careful, (Y/n),” she smiles, getting up from the table and taking your hand in hers, “at this rate your eyes are gonna roll out of your pretty head.”
“Yeah, yeah.” You mused, putting your arm over Kurenai’s shoulders as you stroll out of the diner, leaving money and a tip for your waiter.
“You never know, (Y/n).” Kurenai spoke as you made it outside. “Just promise me you’ll keep an open mind tonight, okay?”
You sighed, feeling stressed again about the training session.
“Yeah, okay,” you finally answered, turning to face her. “And you promise me you won’t tell anyone else about what happened last night, not even Kakashi can know that you know, okay?”
“I promise to not tell a soul.” She spoke sincerely. “I’ll see you tonight, my love.” She gave you a strong hug, a kiss on the cheek, and walked off in the direction of her apartment making sure to look back and give you a teasing wink.
You smiled and yelled after her, “People are gonna start thinking we’re lesbians if you keep that up!”
“Let them think what they want!” She yelled back without turning around.
And just like that, there you were, one of the strongest kunoichis of the Hidden Leaf, feared by many, standing alone on a busy street terrified to attend your training session tonight because of one silver-haired shinobi.
One very handsome, insanely smart, terrifyingly strong, porn-reading, sharingan-wielding, silver-haired shinobi.
That you cuddled.
Last night.
Shit.
tis the damn season - m. tkachuk
Tumblr media
a/n: as we all know, i am an absolute whore for a christmas fic and when i listened to evermore yesterday i knew this needed to be done. i literally haven’t written anything this fast in forever but i hope you guys like it!! (also tagging @igor-shestyorkin @blueskrugs & @fenwaynightlights for reading this last night and telling me it was good so i’d actually finish it ily)
The second you walked into the party, Matthew’s eyes didn’t leave you. He knew you were coming, but watching you step into his parent’s house with a plate of your famous chocolate chip cookies and a smile that made his heart skip a beat, was almost taunting him. You dated forever ago, the last real relationship Matthew had ever been in, and by the looks of it - it was staying like that. You greeted everyone, down to the biggest hug to his grandparents who swore you were going to be Matthew’s wife one day. That was because that’s just how you were, kind and smart and constantly impressing anyone who Matthew introduced you too. Every teammate he had at the time loved you, and he knew if you were in Calgary his team now would be the same. Brady adored you, even admitting to his brother he still called you for girl advice because if Matthew fumbled the bag when it came to you there was no way Brady should take his advice. Matthew couldn’t even think about your relationship with his sister, or how crushed she was when you broke up. Then there was his parents, his mom swore it would be okay. That it was just Matthew’s first love and eventually he’d find his forever but he knew she was lying. Matthew found forever with you, and he let it implode because his dream was just more important at the time. Now, he could be at the top of the world and none of it mattered because you weren’t by his side.
Matthew just felt dumb now, because you were on to bigger and better things and you weren’t hung up on your high school ex-boyfriend. You went off to college, crushed it, and moved back into St. Louis with a near perfect job offer and success practically radiating off of you. He was standing in his kitchen in the worst Bud Light Christmas sweater like an eighteen year old frat boy and you looked every bit like the goddess Matthew knew you were. The perfect Christmas red dress you were wearing sat on your frame flawless, and it was obvious that red was still your color.
“I can leave if you want me to?” You ask, leaning into Matthew when you finally made your way over to him. Your voice was low, mouth close to Matthew’s ear while you hugged him so no one could hear you ask. You were an infinitely better person than he was, so of course you asked him if it was okay to stay.
“You’re always welcome here, you know that,” Matthew answers, sipping his beer for some liquid courage he desperately needed.
“Just because your mom invites me doesn’t mean I need to be here,” You shrug, “Maybe you’ve got someone here…”
He would never. Matthew had never even considered it, what it would be like to bring someone home that wasn’t you. There wasn’t one person in Calgary who could measure up, and despite the fact that his family loved him and would accept anyone with open arms, deep down Matthew knew you would always be on their minds.
“I don’t,” Matthew says, trying to stop himself from wrapping his arm around your waist while you stand with your chest still pressed against his from your hello hug, “I mean what would be the point? They don’t make cookies like you do.”
Matthew had to joke, cover up the fact that he was never able to let go of what you had and choke it down with beer he was drinking. He liked seeing you, the same times he did every year. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the occasional summer BBQ was something he looked forward to, sometimes he even hoped for an extra reason for you to both be somewhere. He knew you’d come, because you wouldn’t dare deny his mother’s invitation.
“Of course you noticed I made them,” You rolled your eyes, pushing Matthew back jokingly, “Remember when you used to beg me to make them-”
You stopped yourself when you noticed where this was going, you never brought up the before times. The times when Matthew would give you his best puppy dog eyes for you to bake him something, followed by a plea to just look the other way when he devoured the entire plate.
“Maybe it’s best we broke up, I probably never would’ve gotten drafted by eating these,” Matthew teases, sliding past you to grab a cookie off the counter and taking a big bite, “Because fuck these are good.”
Matthew’s moans in delight sent a chill up your spine. You hated that he could still do that to you, because it was the same thing every time. You’d see him, and for a moment you’d think that this would work itself out. You could get back together, and falling in love would be just as sweet a second time, but it wouldn’t work. You were settling into your own, a fresh lease signed in your new apartment you were going to move into after New Year’s, and Matthew was going to go back to Calgary where he was a big deal. That was always the dream, to make it big in the league and make his parents proud. Matthew was doing it, not that you ever doubted him, but you were proud nonetheless.
The thing was, because Matthew was doing the damn thing, he gave up you. It was like a deal he made with the devil when he was seventeen, he could have everything he ever wanted if he didn’t have you to hold him back. You always knew that was why he broke up with you, it was the right person at the wrong time.
“It’s nice to see you Matthew,” You muse, biting the inside of your cheeks to hold back the grin on your face. You stopped the conversation before it started, constantly trying to make this as painless as possible, but it wasn’t always easy.
“Wait, uh, you’re going to be here until Christmas right?” Matthew asks, grabbing your attention before you slipped out of the kitchen. Matthew was hopeful, catching a flight a few days earlier than he usually could and landing before Christmas gave him more time to see you.
“I’ll be at my parents house,” You nod, thinking about your childhood bedroom that was currently covered in moving boxes while you waited to settle into your new place.
“Oh sweet,” Matthew takes another swing of his drink, trying to keep his cool because you were the only person who made him completely uncool.
“Yeah, sweet, I’ll see you around,” You wave, disappearing into the kitchen. Matthew takes a deep breath, collecting his thoughts for a minute until Brady stepped in front of him. His little brother scoffed, a stupid smirk on his face when he finally spoke.
“Dude that was painful to watch.”
***
Matthew had no idea what the fuck he was doing. His feet were just carrying all two hundred and two pounds of his body in the exact direction of your house. He was drunk, well over the limit of how many whiskey shots he could even handle. He looked at his watch, it was almost three in the morning but if he didn’t get it out now when would he ever. He loved you, and all he could think about is what would happen if he could have just had one more night with you. Maybe you’d feel it, you’d always been pretty intuitive with his feelings, because he was awful with them. He had to make his case, did he even have one?
Oh hey Y/N, I know I’m hammered and it’s three in the morning the day before Christmas Eve but I want you to know I’m still in love with you.
That wouldn’t work, and he was going to have to do better than that. He could turn around and go home, but if he had to watch another one of your Instagram stories and pray that whoever was in them wasn’t your boyfriend again - he would lose his mind before he made it to the holidays next year. He snuck past the gate into your yard, not surprised to see your whole house was sleeping quietly. He picked up a few pebbles from your mother’s garden, shaking them in his hand and hoping you remembered the way he let you know he was outside when you’d sneak out in high school.
One.
Two.
Three.
You were woken up by the sound of three pebbles hitting your window, and you rub your eyes in disbelief by what you were hearing. Matthew wasn’t outside your window at three in the morning looking for you, why would he even think about it?
“What the hell are you doing?” You ask, poking your head out the window and crossing your arms to battle the cool air blowing through.
“Come down?” Matthew asks, wiping his palms on the back of his jeans and giving you his best smile. A real one, because you’d always been able to tell when it was fake.
You should’ve closed the window, and pushed Matthew to the back of your mind until you found yourself creeping on his Instagram again. You were always a good listener, and you always tried to do the right thing but Matthew was your vice. He’d always been a little bit a bad boy, but never enough to stop you from coming back for more. So you opened your window a little more, slipping down and scaling down your house just like you used to.
Matthew could have pretended like he didn’t notice, his last name faded on the back of the hoodie you were wearing, but he couldn’t. You looked just as cute in it as you did all of those years before, “Seven was such a good number on you, I wish I could have kept it.”
You could feel the heat on your cheeks, hoping Matthew couldn’t catch it in the moonlight, “Why are you here?”
“I want one more night,” Matthew takes a deep breath, standing his ground, “I, uh fuck-”
Matthew Tkachuk had never been good with words. He put his foot in his mouth, all the time, but his plea was something you never thought you’d hear. It was Christmas, you were lonely, and a part of you wondered the same thing. So you said fuck it and decided that this was your problem later, pressing your lips to Matthew’s. Your hands gripped his shirt, trying to get as close to him as you could. Matthew was dumbfounded, wrapping his arms around your waist, his fingers digging into your sides.
“Can you be quiet?” You ask, pointing at the back door. It was the middle of the night and your parents room was on the first floor but if Matthew was quiet enough you could get him upstairs easily - you used to do it all the time.
Matthew nodded eagerly, following you inside and tip-toeing up the stairs. He was doing a terrible job, either he’d gotten bigger or the floors in your parents house had gotten creakier.
“You said you could be quiet,” You tease, letting Matthew push you against the door, he twisted the lock, smirking at you.
“I’m a lot bigger than I used to be,” Matthew declares, fake puffing out his chest.
“I noticed…” You muse, running over your hands over his shoulders. He’d gotten broader with age, and it wasn’t something that was lost on you. You press your lips to his, throwing your hands around his neck and pulling him closer. Your fingers crept up to his curls, tugging on them slightly. Matthew smirked against your lips, “I missed that.”
“I missed you,” Matthew mutters, wrapping your legs around his waist to bring you to your bed. You squeal, tucking your head into shoulder to stop the noise, “Who’s the loud one now?”
“Well don’t stop kissing me then,” You tease, grabbing Matthew and pulling him on top of you. You worked quickly, a pile of clothes in the corner of your that was going to be addressed later. Matthew’s lips were on your neck, his finger circling your clit while you bit your lip hold back a moan, “Matty please-”
The nickname slipped your lips so easily it was like you never should have stopped calling him that. Matthew took notice, and it was like music to his ears, “Anything you want babe.”
“Fuck me,” You breathe out, desperate for as much of him as you could get. Matthew slipped out of his boxers, pumping himself a few times before he gave you a look. You nodded, giving him the go ahead and pulling his lips back to yours. Matthew slipped inside you, and it’d never felt better.
Matthew was better now, much much better. His hips were snapping into you, a near perfect pace while grunts left his lips. The pleasure was almost too much, and you could feel your nails scratching into his back while you bit into his shoulder to keep yourself quiet. His hand snaked down to your clit, “Cum for me babe, c’mon.”
You clenched around him, the sensation was enough to send Matthew over the edge, spilling into you. He dropped to his elbows, placing lazy kisses on your skin while you basked in the post sex glow. Matthew’s skin was glistening against the moonlight from your window, his breath in your ear while you caught yours and it all felt right.
“You know you have to go now,” You remind him, “My dad will murder you if he catches you up here.”
“I know,” Matthew bumps his nose against yours, pressing one more kiss to your lips, “I’ll see you tomorrow? Or later?”
Later. It had completely slipped your mind that in just a few hours you were going to be forced to run an annual day before Christmas Eve 5k with the Tkachuk’s like you did every year. The idea was somehow worse than doing it on Thanksgiving, and now you had to see Matthew after you let him fuck you in your childhood bedroom. You watched Matthew dress himself, hopping out your window and back to his own house.
Now you just needed some sleep.
***
You felt like shit, and you were missing the iced coffee you didn’t have a chance to get while you trailed behind your parents to meet the Tkachuk’s. You greeted everyone, stopping at Matthew last, you were unsure of how to even greet him after what you’d just done a few hours before. He didn’t think anything of it, wrapping an arm around you and pulling you into his chest.
“Here,” Matthew says, nudging his cup towards you. You assumed it was coffee, but then the taste of a mimosa hit your tongue.
“Jeez,” You choke, coughing while you take down the champagne with just a hint of orange juice.
“Do you think I was going to run this sober? You wore me out last night,” Matthew teases, and he could feel Brady’s gaze on him.
The wheels in Brady’s head were turning. He was suspicious, catching Matthew sneak back into the house early in the morning, and now watching the two of you - it was clear. It became even clearer when they started running, because Brady knew Matthew wasn’t that slow and he didn’t wasn’t going to let Brady beat him. He was though, jogging behind Brady with you and laughing at whatever you said. There was one thing that was clear, Matthew got over his dumb fear of talking to you and finally did. His brother was happy, but he couldn’t help but feel like he was going to watch this explode in your faces in a few days. Matthew would go back to Calgary and just the first time you broke, it was going to be ugly.
***
The winter in St. Louis was brisk, but Matthew’s warm body next to you was enough to fight it. Your head was on his chest, and you were snoring softly. Matthew picked you up a few hours after you got home, driving up to the same lake you snuck off to in high school. He stole Brady’s truck, driving off with a bunch of blankets without giving Brady an answer as to where he was going. It was supposed to be romantic, but you’d always been prone to falling asleep when you were with him.
Matthew didn’t have a complaint in the world, you slept the same way you used to. Your head on his chest, a leg tangled with his and your hands clutched to his shirt so he couldn’t move. He wasn’t going anywhere. Matthew would let you sleep the entire day away if he could have. He carded his hands through your hair, a content sigh leaving his lips.
Matthew often wondered what would have happened if you never broke up. If you’d followed him to Calgary and what that would have been like. Maybe you’d still be together, and after all these years he’d start looking for a ring. If you’d buy a house together, maybe even be that family that houses wayward hockey players just like his parents did. You’d be the person he got to share looks with across the room when he was forced to have conversations he didn’t want to have. He’d get to take you family skates and you’d get to see him play and you’d live happily ever after.
Reality was always much more cruel, and it wasn't pretty. You had a life in St. Louis, one that didn’t include him. You were moving along in your life just fine without him. You didn’t need Matthew and it was dumb of him to think you’d drop it all for him. You never asked him to stay, and it would be unfair to ask you to wait around.
“I can hear you thinking, you might start to malfunction soon bubs,” You whisper, your voice still laced with sleep. You meant to run a hand through his hair, but the palm of your hand just hit his forehead while you moved it back down slowly. Matthew chuckles, the silly nicknames you gave him seemed to come out without a second thought, and it felt good to be called any of them by you.
“Just thinking about you,” Matthew breathes, and you pick up your head. Matthew shoots you a smile, but you knew he was faking it.
“Matty-” You take one deep breath, “Don’t ask me to come with you, you know it’s not fair to me.”
Your voice was cracking, pleading Matthew to just not have this conversation. You weren’t ready for it, because it meant accepting defeat. The universe wasn’t going to allow you to be together, and that’s just how it was going to be.
“I don’t want to go back to Calgary,” Matthew whispers, more to himself than you. He did want to go back, but he wanted to go back with you.
“You have to,” You sit up, a chill running through your body from the loss of Matthew’s body next to yours. You rub your arms to warm up, “You have to because we’re just not going to make it work Matty.”
Matthew nods solemnly, like his heart just broke all over again. You were right, you always were, it just seemed naïve to think you’d both be any different now than you were the first time, “Let me take you home.”
The car ride was awkward. The only thing cutting through the silence was the Christmas music playing on the radio. You sat with your head pressed against the window, counting down the streets until you finally hit yours. Matthew halted the car, and you gave him one more look before you stepped out of the car, “Tell your parents I said Merry Christmas.”
“I will,” Matthew nods, and those were the last words you heard him say before you walked up your stairs. Matthew waited for you to be inside before he drove off, a small part of him hoping you’d run back to the car and tell him you wanted him too. You didn’t, and that was just how it was going to be.
***
Christmas was awful, the past two days seemed to pass were pure agony. You were sad, and knowing Matthew was about three blocks and four houses away wasn’t helping. You were counting down the hours until he was back in Calgary, away from you and you could finally grieve him for the final time. The last nail in the coffin of what was once your first love had yet to be hammered in but once he was gone that would settle it.
You had two more hours until you knew his flight would leave, and you were so close to the finish line you could taste it. You were home alone, your parents still making their way to a few neighbors' houses to spend the last few moments of the holiday with their friends. You were sulking, a wine bottle stolen from your mother’s collection and the Grinch on your TV.
A doorbell was the only thing to interrupt you, and you could see a tuft of curly hair through the window. Matthew was standing outside your door, pacing back and forth while he waited for you to open it. You thought about acting like you weren’t home, maybe he’d leave and never come back. You opened it, not even having a chance to open your mouth before he spoke.
“Come with me,” Matthew pleads, “I love you, I still do and I always have and we’re meant to be together. There isn’t anyone I want more by my side than you, and I know it’ll be hard but I’m not ready to let you slip through my fingers again.”
“Matthew-” You interrupt grabbing his arm to stop his pacing, “Listen to yourself.”
“I am, and I want this, I never wanted to give up you and I just can’t fly back there with people who don’t know when I’m faking a smile or when I don’t want to be somewhere,” Matthew explains, running a hand over his face, “You’re the best I’ll ever have and I want to spend the rest of my life proving that to you.”
“I’ll come until New Year’s,” You agree, Matthew’s face breaking out into a very real smile, “We need to talk about this Matthew.”
“You talk, I’ll listen, you can have whatever you want,” Matthew agrees, because he’d move the sun if he could for you. His lips pressed against yours, pushing you against the same front door he kissed you in front of on your first date. The porch light still flickers the way it used to while Matthew’s hands gripped your face because he was afraid to let you go. You both finally pulled, Matthew mumbling his next words against your lips.
Tis the damn season huh?
Your eyes scanned the University Ballroom, your champagne glass practically ignored in your hand. You hated all these alumni networking galas and avoided going to them as much as possible. Old, sleazy lawyers with much younger women on their arm reliving their best cases with each other and expecting all the new law students to laugh when they were able to get their defendant acquitted because of some dumb technicality. It made you sick.
It didn’t help that you were already going in with a bad attitude. Your ex-boyfriend had dropped by your apartment that morning to pick up the rest of his stuff, and he decided that the best person to help him with that was the girl he had been cheating on you with. You caught them together three weeks ago, and you had been so stressed from midterms that you hadn’t even had the chance to go out, get drunk, and have wildly irresponsible rebound sex.
But you had to suck it up for the night, at least until you were able to get the answer you came for. After that, you could go back to your apartment, replace your too tight and too short dress with some nice pajamas, and watch trashy reality TV until you passed out on your couch.
You scanned the room a few more times until you caught sight of a tall man in a dark suit leaning against the bar. Bingo. You set your champagne flute down and ran over to him as fast as your heels could take you. Once you were just a few steps away, you quickly composed yourself and walked straight into his line of sight.
SSA Aaron Hotchner rarely came to alumni events here at George Washington Law School, citing that he wasn’t even a prosecutor anymore and had much more important work to do back at the BAU, but he was going as favor to his old law school buddy. Plus, it was either coming to this or going out to the bar with the team, and seeing as he had just signed the divorce papers with Haley, he wanted to be somewhere he wasn’t going to be profiled all night. The free champagne was also a bonus.
When you saw that his name was on the RSVP list, you knew that you had to go.
“Agent Hotchner?” you asked, giving him your best straight A student smile.
He refused to look up right away, not giving you the chance to charm him. “I’m not currently on duty. If there is a case you would like the BAU to look over, that’s handled by our media liaison,” he said absently, taking another sip of champagne.
You frowned but kept your hand out for him to shake. “That’s not what I’m here for, I-” You took a breath to compose yourself. “My name is Y/N Y/L/N. I’m a first year here- getting a joint JD and masters in forensic psychology. My goal is to become a prosecutor,” you pressed, and you were rewarded when he perked up in interest. He slid his drink on the table.
“Most law firms don’t usually want a prosecutor who’s going to empathize with the person you’re prosecuting,” he mused, and shook your hand, his grip just tight enough to pass as faux politeness.
You shook your head and clasped your hands behind your back, trying to ignore how warm his hands were. “I think the best prosecutors empathize with the defendants,” you admitted. “Isn’t that how you succeeded as both a prosecutor and as a federal agent? That’s actually why I came to you, I wanted to ask you a question... about my thesis,” you added quickly, figuring that the best way to get him to talk to you.
Aaron’s posture changed from half asleep to maybe listening, and your face went red. Sure, you only came to the event to talk to him, but you never thought that you’d actually get Aaron Hotchner to pay attention to you. “I didn’t empathize with the people I was putting in jail,” he told you, his voice ice cold. “That didn’t come until I worked in the BAU, and even now, I wouldn’t call it empathy. Just understanding of how they became the type of person they are.” He leaned sideways on the bar counter and you felt yourself shrink under his gaze. You shifted slightly and felt the hem of your dress move up your thighs ever so slightly. Aaron noticed too, if the lick of his lips was anything to go by.
You took his silence as your signal to ask your question. “You offered Jessica Michaelson a lesser sentence that had her released in just three years despite the fact that she murdered her brother in cold blood in his sleep. You had the evidence, why didn’t you push for premeditation?” you asked, and his eyebrow quirked upwards. “In the case The People vs. Michaelson,” you added unnecessarily, trying to break the silence.
“I know the case you’re referring to. I was the lead on it,” he reminded you, his voice edging on dangerous. “You know, most people aren’t interested in my days as a lawyer.”
You shrugged, hoping to appear more confident than you felt. “I’m not most people,” you agreed, biting down on your lower lip. His gaze was so intense, and it was affecting you in ways you couldn’t have imagined. It was turning you on, you realized with a start. It had been a while since you had last had sex, and it was driving you only slightly crazy. “But that doesn’t answer my question.”
Aaron grabbed a champagne flute from a server walking by, and shoved it in your direction. You grabbed it cautiously. “Did you read the police report on the case?” he asked, and you nodded wordlessly, taking a sip of the champagne. The alcohol was making you bolder, and you stepped towards him. “Then you’ll know that there was very little physical evidence tying her to the muder. We chose to offer the charge that would have stuck instead of risking her being found not guilty.”
You gritted your teeth together in an effort to calm yourself down. “She murdered four people within the six months after she was released from prison,” you reminded him.
That seemed to have struck a chord with Aaron, and his steely persona seemed to fade ever so slightly. He sighed exasperatedly; you were obviously getting on his nerves. “The prints and DNA that were collected and put into VICAP when she was in prison are what got her caught in the end, and that was the evidence needed to lock her away for life. We wouldn’t have gotten those prints without her original charge. It all worked out.”
You groaned and threw your hands in the air. “You couldn’t have predicted that, though,” you argued. “And people have been found guilty with way less evidence than you had in the original case. I think you just felt bad for her, considering her brother was a real piece of shit.” You were being difficult now, you knew that. But there was something about Aaron Hotcher that was pulling you in, and you wanted to see how far you could push him.
Aaron gave you a predatory grin and he stepped towards you ever so slightly, finishing his drink. He must have had multiple drinks too, judging by the soft flush on his face. “Oh, you do?” He seemed amused now. He slowly raked his eyes from your face, down your neck, and down the rest of your body, and you forgot how to breath. You knew that it was inappropriate and that he was a highly respected FBI agent, even if he was kind of an asshole at the moment. You also knew that the two of you were crossing lines that neither of you should have even been close to, but you shivered under the weight of his gaze all the same.
You shifted back and forth, your brain trying to process what was happening. “Yeah, I do. And I know that you transferred to the FBI after Michaelson was arrested again, which makes me think that this case was your breaking point,” you ranted, your hands becoming more and more animated.
Aaron chuckled, but there was very little amusement behind it. “Are you sure you want to be a lawyer?” he asked, cocking his head to the side. “Because you’re starting to talk like a profiler.”
You arched an eyebrow at him. “No thanks,” you said firmly, and he just shrugged before making a move to walk past you. You sidestepped in front of him, effectively blocking him from going anywhere. But it was obvious that he was done talking about this.
In your mind, you had two options now. You could keep pushing him about a case that he obviously didn’t want to talk to you about, or you could switch gears in your brain and have him help you solve your... other problem. Aaron was attractive, and you were getting tired of guys your age. You noticed the distinct lack of a wedding ring on his finger, but there was still a tan to show that it had been there. So either he was recently separated or just trying to cheat on his wife. You wanted to not care whichever it was, but a pang in your heart told you to be considerate. Besides, you did not want to get involved with another cheater.
“Must be hard to be at these events without your wife here to scare off all the lonely female law students,” you mused cautiously. You didn’t want to come on too strong, but the alcohol in your system was slowly clouding your ability to be subtle.
Aaron cleared his throat, obviously taken aback by the sudden shift in conversation. “I’m not married,” he said, too quickly and too defensively. So he’s separated, you thought, and you stepped closer to him.
His eyebrows furrowed as he tried to figure out your endgame. “Well, I would love to discuss your work as a prosecutor more when there are less… distractions around,” you whispered, your words breathy. “Tell me Agent Hotchner, do I make you nervous?” You sounded a lot more confident than you felt.
Aaron just smirked and grabbed your free hand, covering it in both of his, and the action was surprisingly soft, even if it was way too late for him to try acting suave. His eyes, on the other hand, told a whole other story. His pupils were so dilated that his eyes were practically black. “I face the worst people in society on a daily basis. Desperate law students don’t make me nervous. In fact…” He stepped towards you, looking around to make sure nobody else was looking. Aaron leaned in close, his lips brushing against your ear with every word. “I think that I make you nervous. And more than nervous, I make you very excited.”
Your breath hitched as he pulled back, a smug smile gracing his lips. You yanked your hand back to preserve what little dignity you had left, but it was too late. “Now, if you would like to discuss my prosecuting career more in depth, then you can set up a formal meeting with me at the BAU,” he continued, obviously proud of himself and the effect he was having on you. He pulled out a business card and upon further instruction, you realized that it wasn’t even his. Jennifer Jareu the name read. “Our media liaison will be able to help you organize that. Now if you don’t mind, I am going to retire for the night.”
Aaron finished the rest of his drink and brushed past you while you were still trying to get your thoughts under control. “Oh, and you’ll make a wonderful lawyer someday, I’m sure of it,” he called over his shoulder, and that snapped you back into action.
You followed, running around him and cutting him off. “And if I don’t want to discuss your prosecuting career?” you asked, batting your eyelashes at him. “What if I was interested in a… less formal meeting?”
That was all the permission he needed. Aaron grabbed your hand and pulled you out of the ballroom, the two of you moving so fast that nobody in the room even had a chance to put two and two together. There was an empty hallway just next to the entrance of the room and Aaron pulled you in that direction, pressing you against the wall and kissing you fiercely the second the two of you were alone.
There was nothing gentle about the kiss, but in a strange role reversal, he let you take the lead. It’s certainly not what you expected from Aaron Hotchner who, until now, had been controlling every aspect of your meeting. You realized then that this was his way of making sure you were okay with what was happening- giving you a chance to back out and change your mind. You just answered by tangling your hands in his hair, pulling so that he was at just the right angle to kiss you.
Aaron dug his fingers into your hips, hard enough to make you gasp out. You were definitely going to have bruises the next day, but you couldn’t be bothered to care. He shoved his leg in between yours and tugged on your lip with his teeth, which made you whimper involuntarily. He smirked against your lips, obviously proud of the noises he was drawing from you. You pulled on his hair harder as a sign of irritation, but that seemed to only make him more amused as he pulled away to laugh into your neck.
“Are we just going to make out against a wall like we’re back in high school, or are you going to actually do something worth my time?” you breathe, fighting to keep your voice even and light. It only halfway worked as he dragged his tongue up your neck to your pulse point. And then he bit down, hard.
It took everything in your power to stay quiet, especially as he softly kissed the newly forming bruise. His attack on your neck was relentless as he pulled your hips and back forth against his thigh. You whimpered as you desperately tried to get any friction from the simple movement. Your skirt was now dangerously close to being pushed so far up your legs that you would be completely exposed.
You pulled away first- you had to or your legs were going to completely give out from under you. You desperately tried to get your breathing under control and, to your annoyance, he looked perfectly composed. The only thing giving him away was his slightly swollen lips.
His fingers trailed up your thigh, getting so close to where you want him. “What would you like me to do then?” he asked easily, his voice almost sounding bored. You were speechless, like your brain had just short circuited. There were a lot of things you wanted him to do, but the words were lost on the tip of your tongue. “If you want something, you have to ask for it.” That was a demand, and he punctuated it by pressing his thigh further into you. You were sure he was going to have a wet spot on his slacks. He took the hand not in between your legs and grabbed your jaw forcefully, his thumb resting on your bottom lip. “Use your words, little girl.”
You realize that the two of you were standing on the edge of a cliff, and you had the power to decide whether or not to jump over. It gave you a strange sense of power. Logically, you knew it was a bad idea. He was too old for you, obviously going through some sort of relationship trauma, and wasn’t somebody you could talk to your friends and family about. But the less rational side wanted him so badly it hurt. You wanted him more than you’ve wanted anything or anyone in a long time.
You noticed your strawberry colored lipstick was smudged ever so slightly on the corner of his mouth, and that’s all it took for you to jump off the side of the cliff. “I want you to drag me into the empty classroom just down the hall and fuck me senseless. I want you to use me,” you moan before taking his thumb into your mouth and sucking.
The look on his face is something you’ll never forget. There was a mix of shock and arousal, but also something primitive; His eyes darkened when you told him to use you, and there was a fluttering in your stomach. You couldn’t tell if it was from excitement or dread. Maybe even both.
He removed his hands from your mouth and legs, only to place his hand on the small of your back. He began walking towards the classroom you had pointed out, much too slow for your liking, but he knew exactly what he was doing. “You’re going to regret asking me to use you,” he practically growls in your ear, each word increasing your arousal. “Are you one of those lonely female law students you warned me about? So desperate and needy for a real man to bend you over a table and fuck you until you can’t walk straight? Ready and willing to whore yourself out for the first man who gives you a second glance?”
Your breath hitched as you stuttered out your answer. “Y-yes, Agent Hotchner,” you whispered as he opened the classroom door and guided you in.
As soon as the door was shut and locked, he was back on your lips again, lifting you so that you were sitting on one of the desks with your legs wrapped around his waist. “Call me Aaron,” he mumbled in between kisses, and you were all too happy to oblige.
You were a moaning mess at this point as his hands pushed your dress up to your waist. His hands and lips were somehow everywhere at once and you were so hot and all you could think about was getting your damn dress off, but Aaron seemed to have other plans.
He ran his fingers up your lace covered slit and he just chuckled into your lips. “You’re so wet for me, already,” he groaned and you let out an embarrassingly loud moan. “And I’ve barely touched you. Do my words really have that much effect on you? Do you like it when I call you a whore?”
He hooked his fingers under the waistband of your panties and quickly pulled them down. You could feel his bulge pressing against you and all you could think about was how badly you wanted it. How badly you wanted him. Your hands moved down his chest to make quick work of his belt, and his pants followed after.
“Please, please Aaron,” you begged, desperately trying to create some friction against him. His fingers tangled in your hair and he pulled your head back so that you were looking at him.
“You’re so pretty when you beg.” His fingers slowly ran up your slit, not enough to give you any pleasure. He was teasing you and enjoying every second of it. “And I wish I could take my time with you. The things I want to do to you…” Two of his fingers entered you and you cried out loudly. “But somebody could walk in on us at any second. I’m sure they can all hear you moaning like a dirty whore, all for me. But you’d like that, wouldn’t you? So desperate for my attention and approval.”
His words turned you on more than you would have liked to admit. “Yes, Aaron yes. Please-” you were cut off by Aaron curling his fingers, hitting that spot that made you want to scream out in pleasure. But all too soon, they were gone.
He inspected his fingers, which were now covered in your juices, before bringing them to your mouth. “Suck,” he ordered, and you eagerly complied, wrapping your lips around his fingers and moaning at the taste of yourself. “I’ll just have to fuck you quickly here, and then you’ll be begging for more next time,” he groaned and finally- finally- entered you.
He didn’t give you time to adjust to him, thrusting roughly into you. He removed his fingers from your mouth and brought his hand to your neck. He didn’t put any pressure, but he wanted you to know that he could and would if you decided to get mouthy with him.
Your hands gripped the edge of the desk you were sitting on, your knuckles turning white. Your eyes started to close in pleasure as his hips slammed into yours, but they shot open as he tightened his grip on your throat. “Look at me. I want to see you when you cum,” he ordered, and you nodded the best you could.
“Yes sir!” you cried out, unsure of what else to say.
Seemingly satisfied with your answer, Aaron released your throat and moved his hand down so that he was stimulating your clit. You could feel the coil in your stomach tighten as your legs started to twitch. Aaron took this as motivation to slam into you even harder, relishing each time you gasped out his name.
His pace was unforgiving, leaving you gasping for air. Keeping your eyes open was a challenge, but you were able to do it with his soft mutters of praise. “Even brats like you can be good girls,” he groaned, his thrusts becoming erratic. “You just need somebody to fuck it into you.”
You were unable to respond coherently, so you just settled on begging even more, although you weren’t sure what you were begging for exactly. Aaron seemed to know, and he sped up his fingers against your clit. You wanted to scream out for him, but your voice wasn’t working. “What did I say before?” he asks roughly. “If you want something, ask for it.”
“Please… please can I cum?” you cried out, feeling yourself getting close to the edge. “Please let me cum around your cock!”
He nodded in approval and you had to muffle yourself in his neck to keep quiet. He fucked you through your orgasm, the overstimulation almost too much, but it wasn’t long before he was moaning your name, and you felt him fill you.
The two of you stayed like that for a few moments, both breathing heavily as the situation started to sink in. You just let a guy almost 15 years older than you that you just met fuck you in an empty classroom, and you really enjoyed it. Aaron, on the other hand, looked like he was going through a full crisis.
He pulled out of you slowly, and you winced at the feeling. He pulled up his pants quickly. “Fuck,” he muttered under his breath, looking around the empty classroom. “I don’t have anything good to clean you up with.” A box of kleenex caught his eye and he grabbed a few tissues. It was better than nothing.
You chuckled nervously and waved it off. “It’s fine,” you promised, your voice coming out shakier than you expected, but he ignored you. He wiped the mess dripping down your thighs. You were cold. He must have noticed, because he took off his suit jacket and wrapped it around your shoulders.
“Are you okay?” Aaron asked softly, and it was a full 180 from the way he had just been talking to you.
“I’m great,” you admitted honestly. “Seriously, that was… great.”
Aaron smiled at you- the first real smile he had given you all night. “It wasn’t too much?” he confirmed, and you suddenly remembered what he had said to you earlier. ...then you’ll be begging for more next time. Was he planning on a next time? You wouldn’t have minded it.
You shook your head and slowly slid off the table. You took one of the tissues and wiped up the mess that was left on the table. “Not at all. In fact, I could take more. Next time.” Your voice was light and airy. Aaron watched as you picked your underwear off the floor. There was no way you were putting those back on, not when you had no idea when the floor was last cleaned.
“Don’t make promises you can’t keep,” he teased, eyeing you carefully.
“Well I can’t keep it if I only have your media liaison’s number,” you reminded him, your eyebrow raised. Aaron chuckled and pulled out another business card, except this time it was his. You plucked the card out of his hands and inspected it carefully. “I’ll call you sometime. You can do all those other things we didn’t have time to do.” You were on your tiptoes now, whispering in his ear. “You know… my mouth can do a lot more than just ask for things.” As you spoke, you slipped your panties into his back pocket. You just laughed as you heard a soft gasp escape his lips.
You made your way towards the door, your legs wobbling dangerously underneath you. You were sure that you looked like a mess, but you didn’t care. All that mattered to you was Aaron Hotchner’s eyes glued to your ass. “Get home safe,” he told you and you let yourself smile. Maybe it was a bad idea to start sleeping with a recent divorcee, but the sex was great and you both knew where you stood with the other person. No feelings, just fucking out your frustrations and stress.
Oh yeah, coming to this event was definitely a good call on your part.
