is Mya a self-insert? not judging btw. just curious.

Nope.

She is a fully-fleshed out character. I don’t do self-inserts. The idea wigs me out, a little. (No judgement towards people who self-insert, it’s just not something I’m into. I have never seen the appeal.)

Self-inserts usually feel very much like a wish-fulfillment-fantasy for the canon character that’s been paired up, but if anything, Mya is a Wish-Denial™ character for Timon. She’s his worst nightmare in a lot of ways.

Now, obviously, being her creator, some of “me” might drip through, but that “me-ness” drips through all of my OCs, and even how I write and portray canon characters. They say “write what you know,” and I certainly do that.
