There are so many shows that I’ve watched with almost no fanbase. I’ll be adding more as I go.

“Kirsten Clark, who has been recruited to join a covert government agency, has a special ability. Kirsten is able to be `stitched' into the minds of people who have recently died to use their memories to investigate murders. Taking advantage of Kirsten's ability is Maggie Baptiste, who leads the secret programme in which Kirsten works alongside neuroscientist Cameron Goodkin, who is passionate about the work the group does. Other members of the team include socially awkward communications technician Linus Ahluwalia and Kirsten's roommate, computer science grad student Camille Engelson. When things go well, the team is able to use the `stitching' to solve mysteries that otherwise would have gone to the grave with the victims. “

Recommend only watching the first season cause when the second season starts it has a huge HUGE time skip.

“A secret facility, the Dollhouse, erases the personalities of Echo and her fellow "actives" so they can assume any relevant personas they may be assigned in engagements that cater to the wealthy, powerful and well-connected. After each assignment, the actives are subjected to another personality wipe so they can enter the next scenario with no memory of an earlier one. At least, that's the plan -- but as the series unfolds, Echo's memory begins to return, and she slowly starts piecing together her true identity.”

Hey guys !

Here I am again to talk to you again about a show that I really loved and which ending disappointed me. Not disappointed because it was bad, I was disappointed because the show was sadly canceled. Nevermind, I will get back to that a little later but for now let me present to you: Stitchers.

Let’s start as usual with a synopsis: Kirsten Clark was recently recruited into a government agency to be "stitched" into the memories of people recently deceased in order to help investigate murders and mysteries that otherwise would have gone unsolved. Cameron Goodkin, a brilliant neuro-scientist, will assist Kirsten in the secret program headed by Maggie Baptiste, a skilled covert operator. The program also includes Linus Ahluwalia who works as a bio-electrical engineer and communications technician. Camille Engelson, Kirsten's roommate is a computer science grad student and is also recruited to assist Kirsten to stitch.

So yeah you might think that it’s a detective show -again- and that they all are the same but not this one. I love many detective shows as I already told you but I will not write on the most “basic” ones like Law and Order or CIS even if I do watch and appreciate them. The ones I will write upon will always have that little something special that makes them stand out. So without further due, let’s dive in.

As I mentioned before, the show was sadly cancelled after its third season by Freeform and because of that some questions have been left unanswered. However, even if it is infuriating that they cancel shows with a future and continue to produce shows that should have ended seasons ago -yes I’m talking about you Pretty Little Liars that could have been over after 3 seasons or Grey’s Anatomy who keeps on killing their main and most popular characters, we have had some plotlines and characteristics to feed our thoughts.

First, I want to mention the major chemistry between the six main characters (Kirsten, Cameron, Linus, Camille, Maggie and Fisher). Even if at the beginning of the story, Kirsten doesn’t properly know any of them (even Camille who is her roommate), they quickly learn to work together and support each other. Each of them brings something to the team besides their work. Cameron and Linus are quick thinkers who are both extremely qualified in their fields thus making their reaction timing when facing a problem during a stitch or an investigation quite fast. Camille is very sarcastic to hide her hypersensitivity yet she knows how to get in touch with people through her own feelings making the communications between the team (Cameron, Linus and especially Kirsten) and the outside world easier. Maggie being the one in charge has to be down-to-earth and responsible and thus makes her the “work-mother” of the team. She pairs up with Detective Fisher who is the official face of the team, the liason. He is very protective of the whole team and would rish putting his life on the line to save his co-workers. Finally Kirsten. With all the hardships and science experiments she had to overcome in her youth, she -at first- isn’t able to get in touch with her emotions and thus making social interactions quite complicated. Yet, she counterbalance this inaptitude with a great knowledge in computer science (like Camille) and straight-forward thinking and acting which at times turns out to be quite dangerous and yet an advantage most people would not have because they would overthink everything. Throughout the first season, relations start to bloom between the characters and they soon became their own little family -which is a major theme in the show. Moreover, through the relationships between the characters shines the good atmosphere that reigned on set between the actors. Indeed, we can feel the close friendship that united Kyle Harris and Emma Ishta in the relationship between Cameron and Kirsten or the one between Damon Dayoub and Allison Scagliotti -Fisher and Camille- who were as close and playful as brother and sister can be.

Furthermore, the four main characters’ family relationships are also explored on screen. The main family we get to know is Kirsten’s because a major part of the plot revolves around her. Yet, we also meet Linus’ overprotective parents -and see them in a couple of episodes throughout the seasons, Camille’s troubled big brother -played by Logan Paul, and Cameron’s complicated parents -his mother is a psychologist and his father was sent to jail when he was 10. Thus we get 4 different blood-family patterns who experience love, hurt, betrayal and loss, emotions we ourselves as viewers can also relate to, even if we do not necessarily experience them in the same context. That added to the family that is the team, we have quite a lot of love and affection going around all while dealing with serious matters such as illness, jail, compulsive betrayal and technological and scientific advancement.

Indeed, when I talk about all these experiments and technologies they use, we have quite a technical vocabulary that is always broken down to us through nerdy explanations -usually from Linus, Cameron and sometimes Camille. It makes the show lighter and more understandable for people who aren’t experts in sciences and technologies. However, no matter how well-explained their material is and how far their techniques go, it’s all very fictional and theoretical which -as far as I’m concerned- I find reassuring and a bit sad too. I mean, it’s reassuring that there isn’t a technology that would enable anyone to dive into your thoughts but at the same time, I feel that it could be very useful to solve so criminal cases like they do in the show.

I truly hope this article was not too blurry and that it still made you want to watch the show despite the no-real-ending part.
