A number of the Laika's Comet Fan Discord members came together to create a small birthday zine for the author. The comic is currently on hiatus, so we made a collection of wallpapers for phone and desktop for Willow or other members of the community to use as they like ʚ♡ɞ

It is now time to share my piece for Legend of Link Zine! This is part of a series of other OG Link pieces that tell a story (1. artwork by @zolanort, 2.fic by @zartophski, 3. is my piece :D). Thanks to all who purchased a copy of the zine!

I'm immensely grateful and thankful to all my zine-mates who helped me out in the critique channel! Wouldn't have gotten it to where it is now without them 😘 THANKS!!!!! Now below are close-ups and WIP shots:

It's my usual process of drawing with pencil on paper, then scanning and colouring it digitally. After the second image, it was layering colours and smoothing out everything. I wanted to retain the pencil texture, so I did not go too overboard.

Leave It In The Sun, a Wind Waker Fan Comic

This comic was made in 2021 for @zelink-fanzine. I spent a lot of time in 2020 playing wind waker and listening to the beach boys and i wanted to make something that captured the feeling. I really love Tetra and I really don't love how she gets sidelined in the third act of the game so I wanted to take it in a route that felt more like Tetra. I spent a long time on this comic and the composition and textures and listened to a lot of music. Specifically the dress pose on page 2 and the spiral mural on page 3 were the hardest parts of the comic by far. I wouldn't have been able to make this comic without the friends I talked to on the discord phone while making it. Pretty much every part of this comic I can look at something and remember the conversation I had while drawing that specific thing. I really felt an impulse to "Prove Myself" with this one, and I'm really glad I did! it had a really warm reception and made me feel like I Did It, if you know what i mean.

The name "Leave it in the Sun" is a reference to a Jeff Rosenstock song of the same name. The whole album "NO DREAM" was a really big part of giving me the energy to finish this comic but this song was specifically the big one to me. It may not have been intentionally written to be a love song but i just find the lyrics soo romantic and triumphant. Since this whole comic was about reinterpreting meaning from old texts I felt like it was the only thing I could name this comic! The main part was like

If you knew that I think about you every single day

would it make you feel like I'm too much for you?

Or would you kinda wanna say

"You don't have to feel that way

I've been trying not to think about you too."

[id: It’s a drawing of Maki and Mai when they were younger. They are sharing a bubble bath and laughing together, Maki dumping bubbles on Mai’s head as the bath overflows. The interior of the bathroom is a warm tone with out of frame lights illuminating the girls from above. A single mirror in the back of the bathroom shows the reflection of an older Maki standing in the doorway, the reflection tinted a sickly green that contrasts the warmth of the rest of the scene. Her skin is covered in burn scars, her hair has either been burned or shaved off, and she holds a bloody sword in her hand as she observes the scene and her reflection. /end id]
