Theory that solves(?) "founding of Hyrule" timeline inconsistencies:
Origin of Hyrule no. 1: Skyward Sword. Zelda, Link, and the Skylians settle the surface world at the game's conclusion. Notably, their dress looks nothing like the Zonai era.
Tumblr media
Origin of Hyrule no. 2: Tears of the Kingdom. Rauru and Sonia are the king and queen who founded Hyrule. Notably, Zonai mechanisms and architecture greatly resemble the pre-Skyward-Sword-era Lanayru mining tech and symbolism, though Skyward Sword's art direction is more cartoony than TotK, so that has to be taken into account.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's where it gets cyclical. If TotK's forgotten era came first, then:
Zonai influence should be ALL OVER Skyloft
The Gerudo should not exist, because they're (implied to be) descended from Groose, a Skylian; at the very least, there should have been a whole Gerudo culture in the Sky
Where did the Secret Stones go?
We should have seen Zeldra flying around in the sky, let alone Dinraal, Farosh, and Naydra
But if Skyward Sword came before all things Zonai, then:
The Lanayru Mining Facility (assuming it to be Zonai in origin) should not exist
Hyrule should have already been founded by Rauru's time
Of the two, Skyward Sword being first on the wild surface makes more sense. But if that's the case, there are even more questions:
Where did the Secret Stones come from? Are we to believe that Hylia gave them to the Zonai, since the Golden Trio have already left the Triforce and departed?
What about the Zonai themselves? They supposedly descended from the heavens. Were they just up so high that the Skylians couldn't find them? Did Hylia cleave the ground twice? Did they spontaneously appear up there like mice in grain bins?
Why is there a whole Temple of Time with bells that Rauru, one of two of the LAST of his species, woke up and went to sleep to? In fact, why is there an entire kingdom's worth of structures already built before the Sky Reckoning?
My solution:
The Zonai did exist pre-Skyward Sword, and did descend down from the sky ages ago. They built the Lanayru Mining Facility, utilizing the power of Timeshift Stones in their work. This is not Rauru and Mineru's era.
The Zonai are among the people that stay behind to fight Demise alongside Hylia, while the Skylians were sent up to Skyloft. The people of the Surface are entrusted with the Secret Stones as weapons against Demise, with the caveat that they keep them hidden. That's why they're called Secret Stones despite being well-known to Ganondorf in TotK, it was PARAMOUNT that Demise not know he could get any stronger.
The war ends. Just about every civilization is obliterated by it. The Zonai retreat as far from Demise's seal as they can to lick their wounds. They take the sages' Secret Stones with them, so as to not be caught unawares and lose them to Demise when he eventually reemerges.
Skyward Sword.
The evil is defeated, the Skylians come down to the Surface. That's the signal that it's safe to return now. Shortly after the Skylians officially start to settle, the Zonai, who know how things work, help them build a proper civilization.
Time passes. The Surface is officially a bunch of scattered clans with varying degrees of territory. People are content, though nothing is particularly efficient. The Skylians take on Zonai fashion and building styles as generations pass. The Zonai themselves dwindle.
Rauru, married to the leader of the Hylians, looks to unite the scattered clans under one banner in the name of prosperity and shared resources, idolizing the pre-Skyward era where the gods walked the land. He and Sonia officially name the place Hyrule, and any clan that signs treaty with them is considered within its borders. Mineru, meanwhile, has made her first construct models based on the Lanayru Mine Robots of old, which add to the appeal of joining Hyrule as its subkingdom territories.
Tears of the Kingdom, Zelda's first 12 memories.
Between the Master Sword going back in time and Zeldra's ascent, Zelda and Mineru get to work with as many constructs as possible to protect the Sky Isles they plan to send upwards. They need a TON of Zonaite, and recycling is a priority, leading to the gachapon machines.
Zelda knows enough about her kingdom that she knows where the land is particularly rich is where the people of her time settled, and Zonaite is shown to enrich soil greatly. This is why all the old Zonaite mines are underneath the towns in modern Hyrule, despite changing geography through other eras, and Tarrey Town's new-ness.
Zelda ascends.
The secretive Sheikah clan, having seen the Blood Moon's rise when the Demon King took power, realize that Demise isn't, in fact, all gone. They decide this means that their job serving Hylia isn't truly done, and return to help the fledgling kingdom as best they can. They bring the knowledge of the Master Sword of Skyward Sword days with them.
Ganondorf first shakes the seal he's under without form, leading to the first Calamity and the initial rise of Calamity Ganon. This is 10k years before BotW. This is also the first documented use of the Master Sword to seal the Demon King away, recorded in the tapestry.
The Sheikah are forced to abandon their technology. The Yiga/Sheikah split happens.
Literally all the rest of Hyrulean History happens after this.
Breath of the Wild.
Tears of the Kingdom.

MY ANALYSIS OF THE SCENE BELOW
Gif and photo credit goes to @barbieaemond
A/N: First of all! I want to say these are personal opinions and ideas I have come up with and discussed further on! None of the things I will say are confirmed! I am merely speculating and debating theories! The start is less on topic but it gets more focused the more I talk.
I didn’t want to bother users by directly tagging but there users are there and in some cases links to their posts are added in bold. I also bolded certain quotes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, first of all I want to discuss the words they had playing when they showed this scene before we look into the scene itself. When listening to the voiceover I couldn't tell who it was who was saying the quote, but after putting on the captions I found its Larys Strong which is interesting given his character is pretty much the master of whispers. He's the man who knows everything on everyone the man behind the curtains as shown in season 1 when he manipulated Alicent to make her believe she was responsible for Harrenhals fire and therefore make her guilty enough for her to feel the need to keep Larys in kingslanding where hes at his most powerful. Why go back to Harrenhal and trust his birdies to bring him the information while he sits back when he can do the dirty work himself? That is a key aspect of his character which is why it makes the quote so noteworthy.
The quote itself though is this: The enemy without may be fought with swords. The enemy within is more insidious. Even the use of camera shots which are placed while he's saying that have meaning, as when he says the enemy without its showing Rhaenyra who has lost her daughter, her son, her crown and her throne. And when he says may be fought with swords Aegon shows to be possibly mourning the loss of Jaehaerys, and it's known that after finding out about blood and cheese Aegon went on a rampage killing all ratcatchers in the city. This is showing the shots they’re showing in this line have meaning, meaning we need to take into consideration the scenes/words they show next.
The shot saying The enemy within shows Daemon walking down in a dimly torch lit tunnel somewhere underground with no real indication of where he is. Perhaps they'll play around with blood and cheese by having Daemon come with them to show them the tunnels needed to get to Helaenas chambers, but that would not make sense as it's been highly discussed how Dyana (A maid shown in season 1 who had been a victim of Aegon) would be a part of season 2 for a few episodes, so its much more likely she'll be the one guiding blood and cheese to Helaenas chambers. Though I must say I feel Dyana will most likely be punished and killed for this as she has affectively been part of a plot to kill the innocent son of Helaena. I suspect her guilt will show, and maybe Alicent or maybe even Aegon himself can see that she knows something and questions her, leading to Dyanas confession and death.
Though the scene with Aemond as Larys says is more insidious, that is what caught my eye and no doubt brought you here. We can still that the whole line as part of the reasoning for the use of that scene, as I have discussed with @/anjelicawrites and we have thought of the possibility on this being Aemond crumbling down from his usual, "Tis I the younger brother who studies history and philosophy, it is I who trains with the sword, who rides the largest dragon in the world. It is I who should be-" This is a new side of Aemond. A version of him which we beleive is him finally directly suffering for his actions in the war, AKA killing Luke and indirectly causing the death of Jaehaerys. He looks as though he is becoming something that even he said he would never become as he even says to Criston, as Anjelica mentioned to me, that the two of them were people with morals. It's honestly quite an interesting take as by having the usually stoic Aemond break down in front of this woman, the identity of whom I will talk further on later, shows even he is not safe and that no one is truly immune to the grief of war and that sacrifices must be made by all.
Now we do not know the setting in where the photo takes place but if this truly is a brothel then maybe Aemond went back to the place which truly psychologically hurt him in order to enact punishment on himself, as what punishment can really be done after what Aemond has had to go through. Torture is not an option especially since he's already had to suffer through the major damages of loosing an eye which has already permanently damaged not only Aemonds vision but his whole nervous system. There is a post where a lovely individual goes through the medical side of Aemonds injury which I shall link here for those who would like to take a further look. Going to the brothels as well could be a sign of him becoming what he hates most of all. Aegon. Aegon has always been Aemonds biggest jealousy as he has everything Aemond wants. Aegon has the title of first born son, two eyes, a valyrian wife, heirs, even an actual inheritance and yet he throws it all alway and very easily wanted to when Aegon tried to convince Aemond to allow him to board that boat to wherever he was planning to run off too (Probably Lys when you think about all the people there who have silver hair and the violet eyes.) To see Aemond slowly develop into Aegon would be almost strangely poetic to see as he becomes the epitome of what he hates and wanted most, especially when its just the worst side of Aegon he becomes and not the good parts.
Now onto the context of the scene! The way Aemond is laid on the women suggests intimacy, as he has his hair put down naturally, has his sapphire eye on pure display, and most noticeably of all is naked as the day he was born. He also has his back to the person, which to him especially given his lack of vision on his left side, means he trusts them enough to be vulnerable. People are heavily implying that Aemond is in a brothel, but when you think about how Aemond reacted to the brothel owner in the first season, who it turned out to be the woman who SA'd 10 year old him, I do not believe he would go back there willingly with that much sense of vulnerability around those sort of people. But when you think about the idea of him going back there to punish himself for his misdeeds then it cannot be ruled out as a possibility. Though someone mentioned it didn't seem right how Aemond was the one in the nude while the woman he is laying his head on is still fully dressed, which is certainly odd especially when you remember that when we got a first glimpse of the whores they pretty much walked around the room stark naked with very little clothing. Perhaps Aemond walked in with her naked and demanded she dress in clothing that was either laying about or even brought her clothes for her to wear (possibly Helaenas or even his mothers) we will not know until we watch the scene on screen.
When discussing the position Aemond is in with the woman too like I said earlier defenitely gives an idea on intimacy, possibly bordering on motherly. We know that when Aemond returns from storms end and tells his family of what he had done, 'Queen alicent went pale when she heard what he had done, crying "mother have mercy on us all." nor was ser otto pleased. "you only lost one eye" he is reported to have said. "how could you be so blind?" In the books it is said that since Aemond did kill Luke with intention to kill, he was expecting to revieve pretty much a heroes welcome. But since they changed that and make Lukes death accidently Aemond will no doubt go back to kingslanding feeling grief and regret, with maybe some happiness that he finally in his own way got revenge back for Luke taking his eye. Going back to the almost motherly seeming position he is in, I suggested that perhaps Aemond went to the brothel for a sort of motherly comfort for what he has done as Alicent almost certainly will not be giving it to him for what he has done. Perhaps he went there to get comfort from women but not in a sexual way but in an emotional way so he can feel less at fault for what he has done, even when the physical reminder haunts him daily.
Some people have suggested this to be Alicent who he is with, and whilst that makes sense given the intimacy of the position he's in it does not make much sense to me as why would he be naked with his mother. That to me is more of an Aegon move than an Aemond move. Though it was also brought up how she possibly came into his chambers at night whilst he sleeps nudes which very well could be a possibility so I've decided not to rule out that idea.
Another possible idea on who the woman is is the brothel lady from season 1 who I talked about earlier as being the one who SA’d Aemond when he was 10 years old. When looking at how other people have viewed the picture and came across a user named @/scaly-freaks who gave great insight on this topic which I shall leave a link for here. Firstly they mention how of course CSA is a sensitive topic, I want to mention that first. Though what they further talked about what how in some cases a victim can subconsciously find traits of their abusers in romantic partners (which thinking about it may be why he went for Alys given that she was a much older woman similarly to the brothel worker) or they can return to their abuser even at an older age. I won’t discuss these two points further as consideration for those who may feel triggered with this topic and so I will just say to click on the link for the post and read the rest there. Like I said about Alicent, I will not rule out this brothel woman as a possibility especially as it’s supposedly been confirm that she has filmed some nude scenes for season two. We do not know if she will be the woman in the scene, especially since in the picture the woman is seen wearing clothing, she may have filmed some general brothel scenes involving Aegon. I read another user @/lovelykhaleesiii theory about who the woman was and she said it was the brothel women and that it was her, as possibly Aegon may have taken him to the brothel to celebrate Luke’s death as we’re apparently getting scenes of Aegon at the whore house. This would make a lot of sense given the evidence shown and makes it a lot more believable as to why Aemond is in a brothel in the first place as like I had mentioned earlier it’s a more Aegon thing to do not really an Aemond act. Also a user named @/magnificentdelusionr has spoken out about how apparently the woman Aemond is with and the brothel lady share the same scar, so my belief in this being the woman has increased I’ll tell you that now. Though like I said, I will not rule her out as a possibility. The evidence for the brothel is bellow. I think this may be the most likely theory honestly given all the evidence that has been shown for her to be the one Aemond is with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, this third possibility for who the woman is technically unknown as we do not know who she is. The actress from the scenes shown appears to be a dancer and the theory as it shows in the photo shown bellow is that she may have been sent by Mysaria as a distraction for Aemond. But looking at the scenes (pictures of which are shown in the twitter post down bellow) I don’t believe the scene in the top right is of Aemond and her, purely from the fact Aemond does not wear rings and the fact it looks very similar to Daemons ring. Furthermore the woman looks as though to be a younger Aemma purely from her face shape so that is why I’ve decided to rule out this theory. I will admit that it’s a high possibility that Aemond would be seduced by a dragonseed, as in my mind Aemond wants tradition of his culture. If he could’ve he would’ve married Helaena, as those are the ways of his people and the culture he cares for. He also, as was shown in the scene where Driftmarks inheritance was called into question, is seen to have a great admiration for Daemon who has married two women of Valyrian blood and has fathered technically 6 children (two of which did not survive past the womb). Aemond in my mind if the war never happened would’ve 100% been a sort of student under Daemons wing so in my mind it is not hard to imagine Aemond as wanting to mimic Daemon in his own way, that way being bedding a Valyrian woman. Yet even so when looking at the dragonseed people believe to be the woman Aemond was with I believe she plays a different part of season 2, my belief is that her role of season 2 is to be one of the dragonseeds team black or team green hunt down to try and recruit, as it was said team black went around Westeros finding anyone of dragon blood and offering them a chance of a dragon. So I do not think she is who Aemond is with.
Tumblr media
Now the final idea on who the woman is is Alys Rivers. I have seen people freaking out over the idea of Alys changing her looks to seduce Daemon, and that is who we see in the scene shown at the top left of the twitter post screenshotted above. But that is not Alys style as there is honestly less of a chance she could get shit done with Daemon. What there is though is a chance she could use Aemond given he was younger, more naive and ultimately more emotional and needing an outlet she is happy to become to ensure her freedom. Though in context with the scene, when discussing the idea about Alys with @/anjelicawrites, she brought up the idea about Alys possibly visiting Aemond in a dream. This lead me to think about her doing this which would ultimately force Aemond to come to Harrenhal and fulfil his ‘duty’ of coming to Alys and giving her a son of pale hair. I spoke to her saying how I like the idea of Alys visiting Aemond in his dreams, as this would further the witch allegations. With the context of the scene though I believe she could put this image of a finally calm Aemond who is finally at peace with himself in his mind and make him crave that part of himself. This would ultimately force him to come to Harrenhal in the future. One thing I do want to bring up is this connection that was brought to my attention by user @/boundlessfantasy. They made the connection about Alys possibility being the woman holding Aemond in a dream since Ewan said in the interview with TGC where they discussed three scenes from season 1, that the process of killing Luke haunts his dreams possibly hinting at a dream aspect of the season. This may end up being just a sarcastic comment, but if this actually a hidden Easter egg then I must applaud Ewan for being so sneaky. There is a screenshot of the interview down bellow with the line also a link to the interview here.
Tumblr media
We cannot see the woman’s face therefore we cannot be sure on this woman’s identity, but out of these four main theories on the woman’s identity I think this is most strongest in my opinion. Though us could very well be some random women we’ve never seen in the series before so I very much am not exoecting my theories or anyone else’s to be particularly right. I accept them all (pretty much) but am expecting pretty much for the unexpected.
Some other theories though I would like to take into consideration is the idea it’s Helaena in the picture. I do like that idea as it brings further this idea of Helaemond, a ship I do enjoy personally, especially as they hinted at the idea that Aemond was the father of Helaenas children. The clothing the woman is wearing by the looks of it does seem to be a similar shade of blue that Helaena is usually seen wearing, and there are seem similarities in the hands (this idea was brought to my attention by @/lady-phasma who has talked on this idea on their account) Though I do suggest you click on the photos bellow to see them much more up close as then it’ll be a clearer image. Helaena and Aemond have been shown to be close together so it’s no surprise if he’d want to break down and show weakness with her. It’s a very intimate position as his back is to her showing he in his own way trusts the woman, making it believable this woman could be Helaena. I haven’t made this a main theory as there are some more compelling evidence for the other cases but still I will say this theory is quite strong especially when looking at other theories like the idea the woman is Alicent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the final theory on who the person is which I would like to take into consideration is that the person Aemond is with is Aegon. Now I’m sorry to have to break it to the Aegmond shippers but I do believe out of all these 6 theories I’ve talked about this one is least likely. For one it’s clearly a woman who Aemond is with, given the way the body is shaped, even when we cannot see her breasts. I will admit I have seen people though speculating it’s Aegon which is why I’ve decided to mention it and discuss it. One user named @/cyeco13 has done some incredible art of what it would look like if Aegon was the person Aemond was with and I shall link it here for those who wish to go see it (I do recommend it!)
Okay, out of the six Ive decided to rank those that I believe are most believable to be the woman!
1) The brothel madam
2) Helaena + Alys (as I’m tied with these theories not gonna lie)
3) Alicent
4) The unnamed dancing dragonseed woman in the trailer
5) Aegon
This is all I really can say on the matter as there are constant new theories daily and sad to say I cannot directly talk about them all. Still send me your favourite theories I am interested in hearing and if people would like debating them with me.

Tumblr media
So, did anyone else notice during Memory 4 that the Dueling Peaks is a complete and single mountain?
So that means, at some point between when Zelda arrived and the present day, according to Shay at the Lakeside Stable (in Breath of the Wild), "...legends say that a dragon god split the mountain in half to forge a way through, and that's how how it went from one to two."
It's worth mentioning that he talked about this while also mentioning "the presence of the shadow of a large creature on the surface of Lake Floria," which largely connects this dialogue to Farosh, the dragon often seen diving into the waterfalls near the peak of Mount Floria (in Breath of the Wild). The fact all this information comes from the same source may be the game's way of telling us that Farosh was responsible for the state of the Dueling Peaks.
However, I have a hypothesis to offer (which contains intensive TotK story spoilers, hence the readmore):
The way the camera pans in the memory to show the Dueling Peaks (or peak, rather, in this era), feels somewhat purposeful to me. And knowing that Zelda becomes a dragon in order to help restore the Master Sword over the aeons, I can't help but wonder if she might've been the reason why it happens.
Tumblr media
Not that I blame her of course. She's a newly minted dragon, likely bursting with emotion and pain she doesn't understand or know how to cope with as she's just lost her sense of self. She could've gone mad for a time, flying erratically and ploughing through a mountain in her time of grief before settling into her new draconic existence.
Does this disprove that Farosh, or any of the other three dragons could've been responsible?
No, it doesn't. But I propose the idea that the other three dragons have existed much longer than her. By the nature of their names, they're connected to the three goddesses, Nayru, Farore, and Din, and have likely been around since the world's origin (or very close to it). Further, the Zonai have many carvings and depictions of dragons, meaning that dragons existed during and likely prior to this era, given their longevity.
Tumblr media
Why is this important? We can look to how the three main dragons behave: they have regular patterns of flight, likely formed out of habit or preference, and do not go out of their way to harm people or impact the landscape in any significant way. For the most part, they're high in the sky where little can reach them, save for a hero with a paraglider.
Grant you, their paths have changed since TotK debuted, but the landscape itself has changed, as has the state of the world in general. The depths are now readily accessible, and perhaps there's an obligation on their part to survey it or maintain order wherever they can venture.
But my main point is that the dragons, given time, tend to settle and keep to their own habits and paths. If the three dragons already existed long before Zelda transformed, it's unlikely one of the other three dragons would find reason to deviate from their normal behaviour and plough through a mountain to split it in two.
But the new Light Dragon hasn't settled yet. She's wracked with emotion, grief, and new power she doesn't know how to control. She could almost be considered a newborn in that sense, and what might a newborn with nearly god-like powers do?
Split a mountain in half because it was in her way...
Also, keep in mind the former Temple of Time where Zelda transformed is not all too distant from that once unified Dueling Peak. As well, Zelda's own draconic trailblazing hasn't been consistent either in the present. At the beginning of TotK, she's seen flying in circles near the Great Sky Island before she boldly plunges through the cloud layer to open up Hyrule to Link once he's finished his trials there. As far as dragons go, Zelda doesn't have the same temperament as the other three.
Tumblr media
It's true that there could be another dragon, or being that approximates one, that is responsible for the splitting of the Dueling Peaks. Maybe it was a more nefarious dragon sharing heritage with the likes of Volvagia, Argorok, or some progenitor of the Gleeoks.
Still, I think that it would be interesting to believe that the once gentle Zelda's sacrifice may have had a bigger hand in shaping the future of Hyrule than only her dutiful task of revitalizing the Master Sword. It would further contrast the change between the woman she was and the dragon she became, and emphasize the tragic nature of what she had to do in order for us to finally defeat Ganondorf.

Note
If the prompt event is still going on, Ganondad with Power and Warriors?
It had been a… very long and insane week.
Link was still trying to wrap his head around this delusion he’d somehow ended up in. Because it had to be, right? He’d tried attacking Ganondorf the instant he’d recognized him, he’d fought the woman who claimed to be Zelda but absolutely wasn’t, as well as… well, once he’d seen the Master Sword in someone else’s hands, he’d known that somehow, he was in some nightmare.
Perhaps this is hell, he mused. It seems way too nice, though.
No, it couldn’t be that. He was fairly certain he didn’t actually die from the wound, since Ganondorf himself had been treating him like he’d break at any moment. It was… extremely unnerving.
Or, well, it had been. He was finally accepting that he needed to calm down and observe the situation. He’d already tried to kill the demon at least seven times, including getting himself injured in the process. Ganondorf had only fought enough to defend himself, never actually counterattacking, and it just…
He didn’t know. He didn’t know.
In either case, ever since he’d settled into silence and just acquiescing to everything, life had improved significantly. The new wielder of the Master Sword, also named Link (he tended to just call him Captain, while Link called him King, which he… was not a fan of, but he wouldn’t argue the point), was kind and helpful, roughly around his age but taking on a seemingly older brother role.
It… Link didn’t know what to make of any of it. Sometimes he went along, but sometimes he pushed back. He figured he’d just wake up at some point and find that perhaps he’d hallucinated while he was slowly dying from his neck wound.
But in the meantime, he and the Captain were at the beach, and Ganondorf was eying the sea warily. Link almost laughed from it.
“You two should stay in the shade more,” Ganondorf noted, watching the waves. “Especially you, little prince.”
Link watched him in silence, and then came to a conclusion. He really shouldn’t be rude to the other Hero, but sometimes being babied made him bite back in quiet ways. This entire situation was too weird. But today, with the ocean gently lapping at their heels, he found himself actually relaxed for once.
And, perhaps, a little mischievous.
Link smiled at Captain. It was subtle, just one corner of his lips, but the newer Hero had learned to read his cues, eyes narrowing. Link supposed he had caused enough problems for him that he’d pick up on it. The captain raised an eyebrow, and then he watched as Link sat on the sand, head in his hands.
As predicted, based on the former king’s recent behavior, Ganondorf rose and started heading his way. The captain knelt down beside him.
“What are you up to, King?” He whispered, a hint of amusement making his voice tremble like he was holding back a laugh.
Link glanced up at him from under the hair that covered his face, and simply continued to smile.
Ganondorf reached them both quickly. “What’s wrong?”
Link moaned pathetically, leaning against the captain. Captain held him a little, before looking up at their guardian. “Maybe you should take a look at him.”
Ha! So he did catch on.
Ganondorf bent over, reaching gently towards Link, and he sprang his trap, grabbing the larger man by his wrists and yanking him towards him. He planted his foot firmly in Ganondorf’s chest, rolling and kicking him directly into the ocean.
Captain watched, surprised, before laughing. It was clear Ganondorf wasn’t hurt, just spluttering. Link stood, rubbing sand off his trousers.
He wouldn’t fight the man anymore, but he could still get his jabs in.
Captain elbowed him with a good natured laugh. “You know, perhaps we should team up against him.”
Ganondor rose out of the waves, looking like a drenched cat, face sour. It was clear he was biting back annoyance as he marched towards the pair.
“He does deserve a good kick every once in a while,” Captain continued thoughtfully. “Though… he does care for you, you know.”
Link glanced at him, distracted at the thought. Ganondorf didn’t care. If he had he wouldn’t have tortured him during the war and tried to kill him multiple times. He didn’t even love his own children - how could he even care about Link?
Link didn’t notice the attack, contemplating the captain’s words, until large hands grabbed him under his arms. He yelped as Captain laughed, having succeeded in keeping him preoccupied, while Ganondorf dove back into the sea with Link held hostage in his arms.
The young Hero tried to ignore the way Ganondorf smiled, how it reminded him of the fun they’d had in the Festival of Colors, but he really couldn’t. And, perhaps, for just that afternoon, he actually believed the captain’s words as they all played in the waves.
He’d definitely get Captain back, though.

a new hero, quite the find isn’t it? Chapter 2
chapter 2 here we go
No warnings I think, so enjoy! This ones around 632 words a little short but Chapter 3 is almost done in the making.
Warriors and the new link slowly make their way to a tree  by the edge of the camp. The fire was still lit , and the boys were asleep , no one was awake to hear their conversation.
“So your name must be link hm?”
“Yes we've been through this before, i've given you the proof you need  i thought?”
Wars jumped at this new link's sudden defensiveness.
“ its alright im just asking,” putting his hands up to show he was unarmed.
“Why don't  I come back in the morning? I don't think we'll get much done with  everyone asleep.”
Wars dropped his hands, “ I suppose I can expect you at first light, yes? He raises an eyebrow
The link noticed that war was examining him again , wanting to  see these people again he gave a piece of advice; “ the monsters here are very smart, they wait for a second of vulnerability and attack, please keep yourselfs  safe..”
The link gives wars a nod before turning to leave, he passes by time, the link just so happens to notice a familiar mask with a power and magic that he knows.’i can inquire about that later’ the link thinks and keeps moving.
After he is out of the eyesight of the captain, he thought about just how quick the boy can move. The advice had matched up with the clues they had been finding out the monsters here, the camps being found empty, tracks eventually fading away, not even wolfie could follow the scent after it had faded ‘just how dangerous could these monsters be?..”
Morning arrives, and the chain is bustling like usual, wild on breakfast duty, twilight  and hyrule behind him , the only odd thing is that wars and legend weren't bickering as normal. Wars being found right behind time with a hand on the said man's shoulder whispering something into his ear.
Wars spoke as soft as possible to not startle anyone just in case they were walking by.
“Can we talk for a moment? I think we're gonna have another link in the chain.”
Time gave a slightly shocked look to wars, but kept his composure nonetheless. If wars exclaimed his face further he could see a hint of anger, towards who? Probably hylia.
Time stood up and led them just out of sight and earshot of the camp, still being able to intervene in case something went wrong. As they were leaving he could see wind taking off with the boot legend yet to put on leaving the  two in a game tag. And when he looked back in front of him he was face to face with a slightly grumpy time.
“ Now what's this talk about a new link?”
Wars knew time really didn't have the patience for any beating around the bush.
“Last night  a boy appeared in the trees , he couldn't be much older than the wind. The master sword was strapped to his back,” time grimaced at his own memories of his time with the sword
Wars continued “and green tunic and he even gave me  information one monsters here , we did manage to have a nice  conversation somehow. The last thing he told me is that he would visit back in the morning to talk with all of us I suppose.”
Time seemed to be processing all the new information on the new link they seemed to have.
“ A new link would make sense, this world isn't like any of the ones we've visited before,  and it seems as if this place is very far fledged  in the future based on what we've seen from just walking around.” “ but the fact he came  in the middle of the night rubs me the wrong way.” time seemed to be lost in thought when they heard a tumble in the trees near the camp.

doodles for a tears of the kingdom roleswap au, because those will forever be my jam and i really like the idea of playable zelda. notes/rambling under the cut.
Scavenged Zonai tech instead of Ultrahand (she made it herself??)
idk if the stone stays a necklace or goes on a hand or what
Maybe Zonai glasses? idk
She has an undershirt b/c boobs. Patterned off main padding.
Zonai Survey Team + Hylian Armor (people just give Zelda shit)
Bow of Light - summons freely, acts like Master Sword, powers up with shrines?
Text is readable (Purah: stealing my look! rude!)
And then the general core conceits of Playable TotK Zelda:
Archer - ranged combat focus/optimized
Princess/General - focus on group combat (sages / monster squad / Gerudo Town)
Priestess - Light + Time magic, upgrades
Zonai Researcher - extra knowledge in ruins, can read tet, can do more with scavenging
I need to finish the final boss fight before I decide what entirely Link's role ends up as, but he's sent back in time injured with the broken sword while Zelda is teleported by the Purah Pad away to the Sky Island. IDK if she still has Rauru (or Mineru) as a guide, but even if she does, she's a lot more self sufficient, and scavenges/builds the tech to interface with Zonai devices herself instead of just being given the Ultrahand. I think she still gets the same abilities, but like. She's doing it herself. very stressed out this is fine energy.
Zelda on the sky island is probably more than a little feral researcher. It's her getting used to combat. When we started with the broken master sword, I though the game was going to let you keep it and power it up over time; I'm glad that's not how it went but I do think it would be interesting, so Zelda gets to summon a bow and it levels up over time (probably connected to the shrines system, because Holy Light, but idk how exactly). She can use swords and other weapons, but she definitely defaults more ranged.
Zelda also gets magic, which is obviously the Time Rune stuff, but I think also it would be cool if she had a light power unarmed attack (similar to but weaker than the Yiga Earthwave you can unlock). I like the idea of a playthrough where you never pick up a sword and you just keep light blasting people and dodging even though it is almost certainly the weaker attack. feral untrained self taught mages are and forever will be my jam.
When Zelda returns to Hyrule proper, I think the reactions are very different, because everyone pretty much agrees she's in charge (even if, perhaps, she doesn't). I also think that, well, people are less worried about Link being missing than they are about Zelda - the Lucky Clover isn't running stories about him, y'know? As such it's driven by what Zelda wants - which is to find Link, even if it''s not what others want.
Zelda as princess I think also plays interestingly into the group combat TotK introduces; I think in her game she acts more as general and they're more common. Not that she can't be on front lines, but it'd be pretty easy to play letting the Sages eat up melee while she's sniping. I also think she gets magic that can heal allies, making them more useful in fights to some extent. This would maybe be very messy in a real game but this is a theory baybee!
Although I think that's probably similarly limited / you don't have to drag people around while climbing mountains. Which, to be clear, she still does. It's been like five years and she's clearly been traveling the world with Link still at her side, there's no way that she's not just as feral an adventurer as he is. She's just better as passing as normal.
The big change in exploration is the various ruins, because she actually knows shit. I like to imagine there's some feature Zelda can use to sort of take notes on basically any Zonai or other ancient shit you find anywhere. She doesn't need to run back to Kakariko Village to translate, she's putting stuff together herself. This is maybe manifested by Zonai glasses/mask, which replaces/augments the Camera feature? And then upgrades to help you better see stuff? idk. [let the purah scope zoom in and out. ideal fix. kthxbai]
as for how Zelda interacts with the world...that's kind of complicated but really interesting. she's the beloved princess, but she is the Princess, and for the other four nations, specifically, Not Their Princess. like the dynamic with the Sages definitely changes. There's probably some themes there to parallel Zelda with Rauru but like that means there are Implications and I need to think more on that than 2am.

I just want to say that BOTW/TOTK's Zelda is the first version of the character I've ever loved, and I've been a LoZ fan since OoT. It just frustrates me the way some fans lambast her for being angry at Link in BOTW and also claim she was wasted/fridged/sidelined/reduced to "pure sacrificial maiden" and had her adorable nerd personality stripped away in TOTK (also claiming her sacrifice in TOTK is an attempt to validate Rhoam's treatment of her in BOTW). I thought her arc in TOTK was a wonderful continuation of the one she had in BOTW and showed how much stronger she had grown. Poor gal can't catch a break. What are your thoughts?
….I do not know how long of an answer you expected, but I have so many thoughts. So. Many. Thoughts. And boy do I go on tangents when I should be sleeping. Anyway. Here you go :)
For the most part, I hold a lot of the Zelda’s near and dear to my heart! Though, admittedly, it comes from the fandom’s exploration of these characters rather than just purely canonical content.
But Botw/Totk Zelda…. I don’t need any ‘additional’ content or exploration beyond what we see in the games to make me absolutely love and adore her. She is the most developed Zelda and she has an amazing arc— her complex feelings regarding her own magic, the complicated relationship she had with her father, the realistic exploration of her feelings regarding Link and how they went from jealousy and dislike to acceptance and adoration.
I always find that many complex and well developed characters are nearly always wasted on those who cannot look past mistakes (especially ones that set up future developments and start plot lines). Sometimes, people fixate on the moments writers use to cement that yes, this character is in a very low point of their life and the way they cope is not the ‘good’ way to.
The first memory in botw tells us that Zelda is none too thrilled to have Link as her knight attendant and the Hylian Champion. That she’s using him to project her own frustrations regarding her own failures. Which is the very introduction used to draw us in, make us curious about her history and how Link is tied into any of it.
So many just… can’t see past the reason we are shown this memory, nor why her frustrations led her to yell at Link. Because she was absolutely powerless and unlike Link who has had the Master Sword since he was 12, she had nothing to show. And her character is constantly forced to listen to her father, to heed the teachings she was vaguely given through one-off comments her mother and grandmother said. She was forbidden to pursue her hobbies and give it all up for the sake of the prophecy.
And then, to find out that Zelda awakened her powers through love, love for Link who she initially misjudged and mistreated, is so so powerful. Because she had grown to resent the spirits and herself. But Link. She grew to not only care for Link but to fall in love with him. And that instinct, that belief, that faith, that love. That is what sparked the power within her.
Zelda finally heard the spirit in the sword. She understood her part in this fight. For so long she had struggled to find her power, and she awakened it just in time to save Link, but at the cost of everyone else she held dear.
Something I don’t think a lot of people who criticize and hate Zelda understand is that Zelda’s pure and unwavering faith in Link is her drive to make these sacrifices. She knows it will be worth it. Because she believes in Link. And she supports him in whatever way she can. The reason they don’t understand this is because they can’t see past Zelda’s initial emotions regarding Link. They can’t see how she never believed in herself but she always had unflinching faith in him once she got to know him.
Then to see her accept that her magic has been sapped from its constant, draining use for the last 100 years at the end of botw…. It is a powerful moment. She fought so long to have those powers, ones her father berated her for not having access to, but she can finally accept that she can’t hear the spirit in the sword anymore. That’s development.
And for those who think Zelda’s cute adorable nerdiness was wiped from totk obviously don’t have the greatest history of understanding context clues. Zelda legitimately geeks out in the very first opening sequence of totk.
*totk Spoilers ahead*
She goes on and on about the Imprisoning War and the Zonai, taking pictures and obviously ecstatic about the discovery. She finds the Master Sword’s ability to heal itself fascinating. She founded research teams and build a school to further education in Hyrule. She wasn’t just a nerd. She was the Princess of Nerds.
Her sacrifice in ToTK is at surface level the action of a sacrificial maiden. Those who can’t read beyond that won’t understand it any other way. They won’t see how important it is that Fi sought Zelda thousands of years into the past, when in the beginning of botw she couldn’t even hear the spirits. They won’t understand how Zelda’s unflinching faith in Link parallels Link’s unflinching loyalty to Zelda. ToTK is a zelink centered game. Yep. I said it. We all know it’s true.
The entire plot revolves around, get this, Finding Princess Zelda.
Link’s entire motivation behind this game is to find Zelda. That is quite literally all he truly wants to do. He wants to find her. He isn’t there for duty. He just simply wants to find her.
And she is in the past, ensuring Link has every possible thing to help him secure a future for Hyrule. She went from detesting her place in the prophecy, from being forced to comply to her father’s choices, to embracing her role as the Princess of Hyrule and choosing her own way of aiding Link.
Totk gave Zelda the supportive father figure and guiding mother figure she sorely lack in botw. It showed us and Zelda that despite having the things she didn’t have, they still failed. Sonia was killed. Rauru had to sacrifice himself.
Zelda had to sacrifice herself. She was known for being stubborn, perceptive, analytical, and independent. Now she is known for her kindness, her intelligence, her empathy, and her compassion. And she sacrificed it all just to give Link the Master Sword. Because she had unwavering faith he could defeat Ganondorf.
Zelda is a RIDICULOUSLY complex character who has been through so much. But complexity is lost on those who only look for the simple, easy to understand things. So she is bound to have haters.
But for those who can understand and admire that development, we see Zelda for who she is. And if it’s any consolation, so does Link. While this game didn’t officially make zelink canon, they did make it canon that Link stayed by Zelda’s side after the Calamity. Once she was gone, they again made it canon that he would not stop until she was back with him. His Zelda. The one that rambles and excitedly tells Link that so much has happened.
Botw/totk Zelda is so so complex. And for that reason alone, she will have haters. But they don’t know or understand her. Not in any way that truly matters. Because those who do understand her and love her, well, it’s pretty clear that’s the way to go if Link’s main purpose and the entirety of totk tells us.

A knights honor
Yandere!totk x knight reader
Description: As a royal knight it is your sworn duty to protect those around you and the royal family until the day you die. So why are you suddenly in the past during the imprisoning war with people wanting you as their protector even though you sworn the protect the one who carries the goddesses power.
Warnings: Cursing, gore, possessiveness, A little smut not full blown smut but like making out, and death. Also reader is gender netrual! But it will talk about masculinity.
Adults do not interact meaning do not follow or repost. (Commenting and liking this post is fine)
A/n: i made this because I was annoyed with little totk fanfiction there was and how their were none actually with reader being taller than Ganon or as a knight from the future like zelda 😮‍💨
Words: I dunno man I don't take track of this type of thing 🗿
Chapter 1- The awaking
Tumblr media
You don't like this at all. Traveling down the dark and narrow path of the cave gives you chills. Your hand clutching the very sword that managed to survive during the age of calamity and when you fell alseep for 100 years along with the hero link.
Though it feels awkward because 1 you are walking down a path that feels weird. It felt like it was slowly dragging you down without knowing. Zelda the princess who survive Ganon was egar to do this after finding out that the muck or something you don't really recall what was making the villagers sick. So as a friend and knight you went along with Link who as ever was quiet about this but you could tell he was weary of this also.
Your eyes were focused forward ignoring zeldas excitement as she held the sheka slaight. Suddenly Links master sword bursted into light. You tensed and swallowed meaning that links sword is detecting danger. Zelda looked worried and gripped on your forearm.
Though you didn't notice since you were to busy looking ahead and trying to find the danger Zelda squeezed on your arm admiring how much muscle you have for being a women. You were actually tall taller than a average hylian and taller then a gerudo women. So you were possibly the tallest women Zelda has ever met and the strongest to almost matching links strength.
Both Zelda and you flinched once hearing something scream like it was dying and noticing link was gone. Swallowing your salava again you jogged down with Zelda who followed. Zelda noticed link and went ahead of you to see and ask if link was okay which he was and it was just a simple bat according to him.
Zelda nodded her head and turned it only to awe at what's ahead of her. Her eyes sparkled as she put the sheka to camera and rambled about something. Your eyes moved also and looked at the designed in awe also admiring the detail and time that person who made it took. Although you were interesting in everything you still had that gulch wrenching feeling like something bad was going to happen. Like.....something is supposed to happen.
Yet agian you shook it off thinking it was just you bring paranoid and ventured forward with link and zelda in the front rambling about something but you didn't really care since you were busy trying to ignore the feeling that came back once again. Once hearing zelda gasp softly you looked forward only to make your heart drop when seeing a pit. A very VERY deep pit with a green glowing light that swirled around gently but it was at one single spot whole the red looking smoke danced around everywhere.
"Zelda I do not think it's a good idea to go down there" You said finally speaking during this whole time down here. Zelda looked at you with a caring but determined look. "We must y/n we need to find out what is causing the people to become ill." Zelda said with a determined tone. Link sighed and shook his head knowing that y/n was right since he too had a feeling something bad was going to happen.
Zelda turned and continued walking down the path along with link. You grumbled about how this was a bad idea but followed since you didnt want to be left behind at a place like this. The steps of you, link, and zelda were echoing around the hallow place. Your hands sweated slightly as you finally made it down the final step and was walking down the crumble path.
"What is that?" Zelda suddenly asked. She stopped and slightly moved back once seeing the thing. Your eyes and even links eyes widened seeing a mummy of a man. His hair a deep blood red. His skin for some reason a deep brown color not normal for a decaying mummy. Yet your eyes were focused on the hand thar slowly fell to the side making a gem of some sorts fall off the hand and roll to zelda. Zelda knelt to the ground and hesitantly took the gem off the ground her eyes were focused on the gem them gasped softly when seeing the gem was glowing a golden color.. Your eyes once again snapped towards the mummy when hearing the sickening sound of joints and bones cracking. Zelda flinched and yelped softly once hearing the sound also and stood up, clutching the stone tightly.
The mummy rose up slowly making you flinch at the cracking sound. The mummy soon fell limp and making you hold your breath.
There was dead silence before the mummy snapped its head towards the three of you. Red stuff then shooted out of the mummy like it wad a command and shot towards the three of you more specifically zelda.
Zelda screamed but link managed to block the red things attack while you used your shield to block the up coming attacked that were coming towards you. Grunting you pushed away the red stuff and moved towards zelda protecting her with your sword and shield. Your eyes widened seeing the red stuff destroy links hand. It was coming to fast and you didn't know bit the red stuff then attacked you but not your body but almost half of your face making you scream and clutch the bleeding side.
"Y/n!" Zelda yelled with shock and worried tone. Your eye looked over and gasped seeing that the master sword shattered into pieces and flew everywhere. Including to the mummy.
"Link!" Zelda then called out links name once seeing the damage the red stuff had did to link. Your eye widened was a peice of the master sword grazed your cheek like the top of the shattered sword did to the mummy.
"Was that the blade that seals the darkness? A blade that shatters to easily against my power cannot save you from me." The mummy finally spoke as it slowly rose up looking at the three. Your eye spewed out blood making your hand painted with blood. You took shaky breathed whole looking at the mummy that was now finally at its height and looking at zelda.
"Zelda" It rasped ignoring the sheer fear that held in zeldas eyes. The mummy then turned to link his tone lasing with hatred. "You, that carries that fragile sword...are link" It hissed out. Links face hardened as he breathed heavily and clutching his whole wounded arm with the handle that was once the master sword.
Its rotten and olden face then and finally noticed you. "You........" It rasped his tone calming for odd reason but you didn't care. Clutching the sword you finally put your hand down revealing the eye socket that held nothing anymore. The eyeball shrunken and gone so now that right eye socket was hallow but still spewing out blood as the red stuff slowly crept around your eye.
"Raru placed his faith in you" It hissed out like that name made its blood boil with anger like that name was a name of an enemy. "And that was all ypu can do?" It responded his voice lacing with dissapointment like it was expecting something.
"How do you......know our names" Zelda managed to say her grip on the lighten touch was tight since she felt shame because she couldn't do anything to help y/n and link.
Yet the mummy ignored Zeldas question and shot out the same red stuff and moved it so now it was blasting upwards. The place crumbled as rocks were falling once the triangle peice was moving upwards. "Zelda, link!" You yelled moved zelda away as you used your upper body to push rocks away from the three ignoring the burning and painful feeling that was happening on your right eye.
The ground shook violently. You used tour sword for support while link knelt down finally feeling the intense pain. "Link, y/n!" Zelda called out but screamed when the rock under her fell making her fall. Your eye widened as you immediately jump and holding Zelda closed as you fell. Link soon then jumped and tried catching the bothof you but couldn't. You shut your eyes tightly as you felt wired rush through you and zelda expecting a impact but didn't. There was then a bright light coating you and zelda and made both of you suddenly dissappear.
Before you fell into unconsciousness you saw a small part of a little forest but fell into a darkness. Not knowing that a certain two people noticed both you and zelda unconscious.

Febuwhump Day 6: "I Love You" (Time/Malon)
Ao3
This takes place pre-lu
CW for blood and injury, multiple threats of death, and temporary character death
--------------------------
The worst dreams are always the ones where she can do nothing but watch. The ones where her body is paralyzed, the ground as uncooperative as quicksand. The ones where something terrible occurs. Something so horribly, vibrantly, gory that the only escape she has is to awaken from it, choking on hot, wet tears.
Never before had she realized how lucky she was to have that escape. To be able to curl into her husband’s waiting arms and let the images drift away, carried on the tide of his steadily beating heart.
Malon wishes she could do the same now.
This, however, is anything but a dream. The blood splotched across the ground, the sword lying useless amongst the green grass, the limp form crumpled beside it – it is all too real. As is the tall, lizard-like figure who stalks forward Link’s fallen body.
The Shadow grins and it sends shivers down her spine.
She thrashes again, straining helplessly against her bonds. Coarse ropes dig into her wrists, a tightly tied rag bites her cheeks until they ache. Somewhere behind her, a monster looms, claws slicing into her shoulder. Shards of pain travel down her arms, following the thin trails of blood.
But she has to get away, she has to. Link is right there, only a few feet away, broken and bleeding and helpless. She must reach him.
The Shadow extends talon-tipped fingers and drags Link up by his hair. He slumps in the monster’s grip, eye half-lidded and dazed. Blood dribbles from his mouth and nose and mars his clothing. He coughs and more splatters onto the lawn.
“So, this is the famed Hero of Time.” The Shadow shifts and his very being seems immaterial. Malon can see now how he got his name. “I’ll admit I’m disappointed. You went down so quickly.”
Blood-red eyes flick to Malon. A forked tongue zips out of scaly lips, quick as lightning.
“Love has made you soft.”
His grip tightens and Link lets out a sharp hiss.
“Let her go,” he croaks, “l-let her go or I’ll make you wish you were n-never born.”
The Shadow’s laughter rings out across the lawn, making the horses rear and dart further into the paddock. All except for Epona, who bucks and whinnies, trying desperately to reach her master. But the chain the Shadow had conjured around her ankle remains unmoving as ever.
“Make me wish that I was never born?” He jeers, tightening his grip on his captive. Link falls backward, bumping against his side. “Oh, my dear, dear hero! Are you unaware of your current situation? I recall you being smarter when we last met. Perhaps, you hit your head a tad too hard. That was quite the noise your skull made against my sword.”
The air flickers and suddenly, his ebony sword is back in his hand as though it had never disappeared. He fits it snuggly against Link’s neck, right over his jugular. Malon’s breath hitches.
“No!” She screams, kicking out, blindly. A clawed hand slaps her smartly across the cheek and her head snaps back. Before she can even recover, cool metal nips at her throat. She swallows, tasting icy fear.
“Malon!”
Link jerks in his captor’s hold, terror and fury battling in his gaze. The Shadow yanks him back, tilting his head in calm contemplation.
“Now, let me see. Which one of you should I kill first? I came here to slay the Hero of Time, but to find him with a wife…well, that was a pleasant surprise.” He pauses, that cursed gaze fixing itself firmly onto Malon. “Yes, I believe that is the answer. The wife goes first.”
“No!” The scream tears itself from Link, hoarse and desperate and agonizing, even as the words wash over Malon like spring rain, slowly seeping into her thoughts. With them comes a distant sort of terror, so close it turns her palms clammy, yet so far she hardly knows it is there.
Another monster grabs a hold of Link, claws digging into the wounds already marring his body. And the Shadow stalks towards her.
“Hello, dear,” he croons.
With a taloned finger, he removes the gag, allowing it to flop limply into the dirt. Malon fixes him with a glare.
“What makes you think killing us will help with anything?” She spits, straining to keep the fear from her voice.
He chuckles as he straightens, looking over her like an obsidian statue.
“Your husband is a hero, a blessed one of the gods. And as such, he has only furthered the relentless cycle that grips Hyrule. Without his demise, it will continue, unceasingly.
“As for your death, well — ” He shrugs — “that is merely for my own enjoyment. I wish to see your precious Link’s anguish before I slit his throat.”
“No!” Link screams again, fighting desperately against the monster who holds him fast. Chains have appeared around his wrists now, though Malon cannot remember seeing them before. They sing with every panicked movement.
“Don’t you dare touch her! It’s me you want, not her!”
A tear skitters down his cheek, glittering in the noonday sun. The sight of it breaks Malon’s heart.
Oh, fairy boy.
“I’m the hero,” he chokes, quieter now, defeated before his fate has even been set in stone. He raises his eye to the Shadow, a plea behind the fury in his gaze. “I’m the one who killed Ganondorf. Your vendetta is against me and me only. So, let her go…please, just let…let her go.”
The Shadow grins, all sharp teeth and shifting shapes.
“The Hero of Time groveling. It does me good to see a sight like that. I doubt anyone has seen it before, now, have they? Such a display of weakness is not to be taken lightly.” He gestures to the monster who holds the sword over her neck. “She is every bit as important to him as I hoped. So, go on. Do the deed.”
Something leaden and sickening and absurdly calm settles in Malon’s chest.
This is the end, her mind mourns. This is the end and there is nothing to be done now. Nothing to be done but to accept it.
“Link,” she calls and there is something hopeless in the way she does it. He looks at her, blood draining down his face, chest heaving with every panicked breath, pain and fear bright in his eye. But for a moment, she can see him as he was only this morning, gazing at her as though she is the most precious thing in the world, calloused hands cupping her face as he whispers that he loves her.
She smiles through her tears. His expression shatters.
“I love you.”
The Shadow grins, the monster begins to move its sword…
And the world comes to a screeching halt.
Malon remains still for a beat, waiting for the pain of metal slicing skin, waiting for the sensation of choking on her own blood. It doesn’t come.
The claws holding her are motionless. The weapon held against her neck doesn’t budge. The Shadow stays where he had come to stand, lips parted, fangs glinting, hand outstretched towards her. Off to the side, Epona remains reared up, hooves kicking at the sky, mane flying out in frozen strands of silken white.
The only person that moves in this strange place of living statues is Link.
He stumbles towards her, half-dragging his left leg. Chains still encircle his wrists, but now he holds his gilded sword in one hand. Behind him, a monster stands, a spurt of blood frozen in the space between his neck and chest.
“Link…what?”
She gazes around again, mind stuttering as it tries to catch up. She is no stranger to the oddities of her husband’s powers and adventures but this…this is something she has never seen before, nor heard of. As far as she knows, he has no power over time except by his ocarina. And that currently lies in a locked bedroom drawer.
He looks over her, fast and calculating and bitter. Then, with one swift movement, he drives his sword into the monster behind her. Malon cringes, awaiting a stream of gore that never comes. In fact, the monster doesn’t even budge. Like its companion, it merely remains where it is, gripped by the fate that does not yet have full reign.
Link kneels before her, now, knocking away the weapon that threatens her life, slicing at the ropes that bind her. He pulls and they fall away.
She raises her hands, rubbing dazedly at her aching wrists.
“What is this, fairy boy?” She murmurs, awed and terrified all at once.
“I’ll explain later,” he replies, quickly, shaking his head. And she knows that he will. “But we have time. Only…only a little, but we do.”
He reaches out, knuckles ghosting her cheek. She leans into his touch and draws a shaky breath. To feel him here warm and real is more than she could have hoped for after today’s events. In that terrible moment, she had believed that their only reunion would be in the icy embrace of death.
“They hurt you…again.” His voice cracks, shattering like a piece of pottery. “Malon, I’m…I’m so, so sorry.”
Lifting a hand, Malon rests it over Link’s, fingers intertwining with his.
“Oh, fairy boy, it’s not your fault.”
He gazes at her, broken and vulnerable. Then, slowly, he pulls away and gets to his feet. Holding out a hand, he helps her rise.
“I’ll fix this,” he says, voice growing tight and determined. “I promise you.”
And she has the strangest feeling that she has heard it before, that they have done this before.
What had he said earlier? That they had hurt her again?
“Link.” She steps after him, worry taking hold of her heart once more. Something is strange here. Something is wrong. “You’re keeping something from me. What’s going on? What’re you gonna do?”
He looks back at her, danger and grief in his eye.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers and time jolts back into normality.
No sooner has it done so, than the Shadow rushes forward and slits his neck.

i having something to admit
i never really finished totk!
but yesterday i just finished the game. and wow.
i took a mini break when i was doing the spirit temple, because that temple bored me out. i did finish it though eventually.
after speaking to purah and her telling me to go beat up ganondorf, i was more then ready. if i beat up calamity ganon in botw, can’t be too hard in totk, right?
after that, i quickly got ‘enough’ food and went in super confident. yeah! i can do this, ganondorf can’t be THAT hard? right?
i underprepared and greatly underestimated him.
and… he beat my ass 3 times!
the journey to get to ganondorf was really cool. when i was at the point where the game told me i couldn’t use my sages because i was too far in the depths, that scared me for a moment. the dive down was super cool too.
the first time, he started beating me up around phase 2. after losing, i completely forgot i could use a travel medallion to save my spot. anyways, i cooked some more food.
the second time, i made it to phase 3!! but then i was absolutely flabbergasted when this guy started flurry rushing MY flurry rushes. like what?? then he started destroying all my shields in 1 attack! then i died.
the third time was an okay try… i made it to phase 2 until one of the ganondorf copies killed me. oopsies.
the fourth try, i was super determined. i cooked more food (literally just cooked 1 dish using 5 sundelions) and i was more than ready.
i made it to phase 3 without using any of my dishes the phase before. and within a few seconds all of those dishes were gone.
now… it was just me on 1 heart left, but ganondorf too was close to being defeated.
who won?
ganondorf!
is what i would say if this post wasn’t about me beating totk.
link beat him up of course! by using a gibido bone with an arrow.
(oh and i admit i also suck at flurry rushing timings and i suck at parrying)
this fight was big step up from botw- i ACTUALLY had to get a strategy and prepare, where for calamity ganon, i got help from the champions and just went ‘attack and attack’ with the master sword.
i also loved the demon dragon fight, especially the ost. oh, and that part where the sky and moon turns red? absolutely gorgeous.
the ending was absolutely incredible and emotional, even though i was already spoiled for it.
oh and i find it so funny by how they make complete strip link of all his clothing, they probably saw link in the tinkle or ancient armor and said “never again.”
however…
i still prefer botw though, just personal preference. i could go on an entire ramble about this but i’ll save that for later.

Link’s emotions in Tears of The Kingdom *Spoilers for the Dragon’s Tears quest if you have not gotten them all*
A YouTuber I was watching pointed out that Link’s face at the end of the very last dragon’s tear when he finds the truth about the light dragon and Zelda that Nintendo should’ve let him have shown more emotions or perhaps cried at the last tear instead of the same 😮 face.
I have to say that I agree!! Let the man show some emotions especially for his closest female friend or lover if you’re a Zelink shipper like me.
So, I’ll provide you with my angsty headcannon that he was going to cry but was ambushed by a sneaky Lizaflos so he had to fight it (which had happened to me) and then he went back to their house in Hateno Village (which is what I had done since I wanted to dye my outfit) and when he went to bed he cried himself to sleep looking at her pictures and sleeping in her bed thinking about the last memory.
And then he goes to sit in her little secret room reading her diary, wearing the new champion’s leathers she made for him while looking at the master sword that was previously in her head. Wondering and feeling terrible if it had hurt her when he was pulling it out since she thrashes around a bit.
He then goes to Hateno school she’d built to just sit and watch Symin teach the kids and thinks about Zelda and the one kid that always waits for her, knowing she’s never coming back. He then goes back to the Hateno house to sit by the fire and makes her favorite meal and sits for awhile. At the corner of his eye he sees something and looks to the sky to see her flying above the village and then he begins to cry.
He is absolutely fueling and completely ready to avenge Ganondorf and bring him to his demise. For now he goes and sits with her and watches the sunset as she flies over Hyrule, something they’d done before watching the beautiful sunsets together in Hateno. He lays on her, petting her mane as he cries and quietly mutters an “I’m so sorry.”

Things were quiet, which wasn’t terrible, but you knew a silent Missy was a dangerous one, as with her previous incarnation. So you slipped out of your room, checking the usual places that Missy would be. When you didn’t find her, you sighed and started towards the console room. As you entered the console room, so did she; only she was coming in the front through the tardis doors. The distinct smell of smoke from a fire hits your nose. Her usually pressed and perfect plum skirt was singed along the bottom and higher up; she had a bit of soot on her cheek.
You moved to go take her umbrella, gloves, and hat, putting them where they went. The umbrella in the umbrella rack, the hat on the hat rack, and the gloves on the little shelf nearby. After a moment, she walked over to put her jacket on the rack too. The smell of smoke was heavy; what did she do—skip through a bonfire or something?
“Nice stroll?” You grinned a bit. “Burn down any towns?” you teased, to which Missy raised an eyebrow, but then let a small little smirk escape.
“Only a little one; well, there are going to be a few; I may have accidentally started a teensy little wildfire.” She gave a slight chuckle.
“Missy! Accidently?” You sounded exasperated. “Why would you start a wildfire in Siberia?” you asked.
“Don’t worry, your pretty little head; while I was there, I thought, I haven’t taken you on a proper date lately,” she mused.
It was true, unfortunately. The last date you had got crashed by the Doctor and his companion, and the one before that, she took you to some really unsavory planet, where a plant almost ate you. Before that, it was 1940’s Paris. The one before that you were having dinner at a nice restaurant on Darillium, and Missy had taken you to see the singing towers, The Doctor and a woman had shown up but left you and Missy alone, and she made it a point to leave them alone. It was Christmas after all; that one wasn’t so bad, but still, needless to say, the last few dates had not been good; you both needed a good proper date. You looked at her and nodded. “Oh? Can I pick something this time?” you asked lightly. Missy seemed to think about it for a long time before she nodded.
“Oh! Okay!” you said excitedly, racking your brain. “I want a picnic,” you decided. Missy looked almost offended. Out of everything you could pick, you decided on a mundane picnic? All of time and space, and you wanted to sit on a blanket and eat sandwiches? You were not allowed to pick the date again, but she would give you that.
“What’s wrong with your face?” You asked, crossing your arms.
“A picnic, who do you think I am? The Doctor? A picnic,” she muttered.
“Yes, it would be nice to just sit down and relax, talk, and eat.” You spoke, trying to make your case for a picnic.
“We do that when we eat dinner together.” Missy pointed out as she stalked towards the console past you, leaving you following her. “Why would you want to eat outside, fighting off bugs and the elements for your food….I could always release bugs into the dining room.” She teased, and you made a face.
“You wouldn’t; you don’t like bugs, and you wouldn’t want them to escape into the tardis.” You said.
“Yes, that’s true, but what is your interest in picnics?” She mused, her icy eyes sliding over you.
“It’s romantic,” you said, nodding and leaning against the console next to her, watching Missy as Missy turned her attention back to the console.
“I could think of other romantic things to do that don’t involve picnics.” She mused. “More private things,” she trailed off.
“Mis! Fine, we have a picnic, but you pick the location; is that a fair compromise?” You asked softly, trying to find a middle ground. She was quiet for a few moments before she nodded.
“Deal,” she purred out. “Now go make the lunch... at least pack something good,” she said, her hand grazing your hip as she pushed you off the console.
“No, just because you said that, it’s going to be all jelly babies and crisps.” You laughed and moved away. You walked down the long hall, slipping into the kitchen. You immediately began taking out things to make simple sandwiches; you found some French bread, cheddar, and ham, and you found cream cheese and fruits. Which gave you an idea: you would make some sweet sandwiches and some savory ones.
You would bring some strawberries along, wondering if you could find chocolate to go with them. You really wanted to make this romantic; you knew Missy had a secret soft spot for romantics. Even if she would never admit it, let alone never show it publicly, there had been things she had done for you that made you believe she liked them. Well, it was that or she was using manipulation, but you chose to decide it wasn’t that.
She didn’t show love normally; it was more like a mix between a cat leaving presents and someone who was actually good at seduction. It was a mixed bag, but she kept things interesting. She was also very possessive when she brought you out for adventures; there were so many rules, and god forbid someone looked at you in a way she didn’t like. You had watched her disintegrate no less than six people this way, and she never mentioned it after it happened either.
You made quick work of making the food for the picnic, wrapping everything carefully, searching the kitchen for anything to carry it in, and for once, Missy’s tardis seemed to be on your side because you found the perfect picnic basket. You packed everything you needed. You even snuck in some wine and some jelly babies and crisps, so those would be the first things she pulled out when you sat down. You were pleased by your little joke.
You felt the rumble of the tardis moving; apparently, she had picked out a place. You heard her heels click by the kitchen, heading towards her room, no doubt to change. You should probably do that too; you wanted to look good for the date. You put the basket in the fridge just for now before quickly heading to your room to change into something comfortable since you were going to be outside, but something nice that Missy would be fine with being seen out in public with you. A nice little black summer dress and flats that you could walk in since you knew you would be carrying the picnic basket.
You finished up getting ready. You moved to go fetch the basket, bringing one of your blankets with you and moved to wait in the console room.
You heard the footfall, but no heels. You turned and blinked a few times, opening your mouth as you saw her. She wore a white ruffled top; the shoulders were still puffed but the sleeves were tight against her arms; she wore a pair of black pants; they were tight against her legs; she wore a black corset-like belt; she wore boots, but they weren't heeled. Her hair was pulled up, and a clip held it in a fanned-out ponytail. You had never seen her in anything else but her skirts; you didn't know she owned pants. She knew you were staring, and when you finally looked up to meet her eyes, she was smirking, making a motion with her mouth and hand to tell you to close your mouth as she walked past you to the console.
You closed your mouth and licked your lips subconsciously before you followed her a bit. “Should I put pants on?” That was the stupidest thing that could have slipped out of your mouth, but it was the only thing that wasn’t pining over her or questioning, How come you had never seen her in pants? And why was she so incredibly hot?
Missy snorted at your question, shaking her head. “Now now, my pet, I think your attire is fine. If I wanted you to change, I would tell you to do so, would I not?” She grinned a cat-like grin as she watched you open your mouth a few times to say something, but you shrugged and nodded instead.
“But, um, you usually...” You spoke and pointed a bit at her outfit.
“Something wrong, dove?” She asked, to which you shook your head, and you finally noticed the long black case she had brought with her.
“What’s that?” you asked.
“You know not to ask questions you don’t really want to know the answers to.” She smiled and poked your nose with her red-painted nail. You recoiled a bit and sighed. "Plus, I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise,” she said with a self-satisfied grin. “You wanted a proper date; well, this will be better.” She gave a small nod, like she had picked the perfect location and had the perfect idea to elevate this silly little picnic you wanted her to go on with you.
You frowned a bit but nodded. You would just have to wait and hope whatever it was wasn’t bad, or part of some other plot to destroy the doctor, or take over Earth, or Mars, or whatever Missy decided she wanted to do. It was fascinating watching her plan and scheme because you never knew what you were getting; sometimes she could be playful, and then other times it was very much watching a whole different person working, the intricate planning, and just how brilliant she was. You hoped whatever this was was playful and fun; you really needed a good date.
You shifted the picnic basket and blanket before starting over towards the door. Missy followed after a sort of sway to her steps as if she were mentally rehearsing something; you didn’t question it. You opened the door and slipped out, pausing when you stepped out. It was not the picturesque setting you had hoped for; it was desolate and the sky was clear, but you could see so many stars and a rather large moon, maybe. You felt the air shift behind you. Missy stood behind you, leaning her chin on your shoulder as she looked up.
“Rather pretty, isn’t it?” She breathed into your ear, and you could feel her lips press against your neck before she walked past you. “Kiamet, or what is left of it, but the sky isn’t why we are here.” She moved to motion behind her tardis, which had disguised itself as a lone burned tree. You looked and paused when you saw a large, imposing black castle.
“Spooky,” you breathed out.
“Is it? Oh, come on, maybe there are ghosts, monsters, or Tim Curry in fishnets.” She chuckled and grabbed your hand, pulling you up the hill towards it. You kept up pretty well with her long strides.
“So why are we here for a spooky castle?” You asked her. Her grip on your wrist slid down, so she was holding your hand, but neither one of you acknowledged it.
“Adventure... and the courtyard is nice; we should have a few hours of peace.” She nodded once again. Her movements were swaying as she continued to practice something in her mind.
“A few hours of peace?” You asked lightly.
“Oh yeah, collapsing universe, a double paradox now that I am here, bit sticky, but if I’ve timed it right, we won’t run into them.” She grinned a bit.
“Them?” You breathed out, suddenly not so sure about any of this.
"Oh, the other me’s, long story, silly little play for lives, I am ever so naughty and really can't be trusted even by my selves...don't worry about it, pet.” She nodded, pushing the door open to allow you entry. The castle was decorated in all black. “Don’t mind the decorations; he is so dramatic.” Missy shook her head. “I would have added pops of color—some purples, more red.” She hummed as she led you past rooms; it was like she could feel your questions rising, and she looked over you, her eyes dancing across your features. "Oh, don’t worry about it too much, my dear; I am fairly sure we will have enough time…”
“Okay, one, who is he? Who’s castle is this?” You spoke quietly as you took in the decor; it was very heavy, black, with deep reds and flashes of gold. It felt cold; whoever owned it must be a real –
"Oh, technically mine,” she said. “Well, long story, past regenerations, an arse of a man,” she smirked. “Maybe you remember the short-lived Harold Saxon?”
“The ex-Prime Minster...” You asked, "Wait, you were the Prime Minister?" You shook your head in disbelief.
"Yes, I was incredibly charming, wasn’t I? I said all the right things. Well, I said some right things. Well, I mostly used high-grade, low-frequency mind control to suggest everyone vote for me, but I digress. Yes, you see, I had some adventures, and I was a bit of a naughty boy.” Missy grinned a bit in thought, looking around. “Killed the doctor, then called all my past regenerations here and didn’t invite me, which was so rude, and you know how I feel about manners.” Missy teased.
You were quiet for a few minutes, trying to think of what to say. You decided to skip over the fact that she said she killed the doctor and called previous regenerations, as fun as the thought could be, the implications that she had managed to kill the doctor as Saxon, and then called her past selves to celebrate. Well, not really celebrate; you remember her saying something earlier about stealing lives? and not being able to trust her past selves, paradoxes hurt your head, and you didn't know how Time Lords could handle remembering events during paradoxes.
“Well, I didn’t vote for you.” You smirked a bit watching her reaction; there seemed to be a few moments where she was deciding what to say to you. "Not my prime minister,” you teased in a playful manner.
“Now wait a minute.” She started. “I was pretty decent….did you not find me charming? You find me charming now.” She said, grabbing your arm a bit, slowing the pace of your walk.
“Well, now you are a gorgeous woman, not a baby-faced man.” You nodded.
“Babyfaced? Babyfaced?” She gave the most offended pout, her lips curled down, and an exaggerated frown. “Take that back,” she muttered a bit. You moved to keep walking, not knowing where you were going. “Hey! No, now, pet, you don’t get to walk away from that; only I’m allowed to be mean to my past selves,” she said.
“But, like you were, I mean, not my cup of tea, but you were a golden boy; everyone wanted you; at least that's how people were talking.” You laughed a bit. “Round babyface,” you doubled down, knowing it was a dangerous game, but it was thrilling to be able to tease her.
"Yeah, it was a bit round... None the less, you should say sorry, or I’ll have to punish you.” She grinned.
“You won’t; you like that I have some fight in me.” You replied. “I’m not a meek little thing; I bite.” You nodded softly.
"Yes, I suppose I do like the challenge, as long as you know your place at the end of the day.” She nodded, once again taking the lead and leading you out a large set of doors. You were once again outside; the courtyard was large; there was what looked like what used to be a fountain, but it had long since dried. You figured it might have been a beautiful courtyard at one point, so you decided to put the blanket down there, setting the basket down. You busied yourself fixing the blanket; there was a moment when you felt cold steel against the underside of your chin, forcing your gaze up. Slowly, you looked up, and you found yourself at the end of a rapier. Missy was staring at you with a stoic look until your eyes met, and a small smirk twitched at the corner of her mouth.
“W…what?” you asked. She let the blade tip trail down your throat slowly, not hard enough to hurt but definitely catching your attention as she lightly stopped prodding the middle of your chest, but slightly to your left where your heart sat. “Mis?” you asked.
“Get up.” She said firmly, there was almost a predatory growl at the end. You hurried to your feet as you felt her bump your hand with the hilt of another rapier. Your fingers curled around it, and the moment you took it, she gracefully moved away, spinning away and into a proper stance.
“Missy, I don’t know how to swordfight,” you said quickly.
“Sink or swim, lovely. Nothing like a sexy sword fight to get the blood pumping, don't you agree, my dear?” She grinned, and in a movement, she was on the offensive. Her movements were fluid, like a dance, yet she held such learned power. You held the blade like you had seen in movies, but it didn’t feel right, and her blade crashed down against yours, forcing you to step back sloppily. She tutted at you, and with a gliding move, she swiped up, barely missing your cheek because you had flailed the hand guard up at the last moment. You tried to put space between Missy and yourself, watching her movements. You were not ready for this impromptu sword fight, but you had to admit that watching Missy was definitely doing something for you. While in your thoughts, Missy moved again. This time you saw it and moved to let the blade crash against hers, moving to lunge forward, but she moved her foot around yours, using your momentum against you. She pulled her foot back, causing you to fall forward, but she caught you by the arm, so you didn’t hit the ground. Her blade against your throat for a moment before she laughed. “You are bad at this.”
“I’ve never sword-fought before!” You whined exasperatedly, and as you breathed more rapidly, the cold metal on your throat made you shiver.
“Reset, try again, watch me, follow my moves, calculate, feel the movement, and follow through.” She instructed and moved the blade, letting go of your arm, so you fell the rest of the way. You got back up and brushed yourself off before awkwardly holding the blade in a pose you thought could be proper, which only got an amused look from Missy before her eyes darkened again, and she was moving forward again on the offensive, forcing you into the defensive. The sound of metal whipping together filled the courtyard as you backpedaled, trying to watch her and the blade at the same time, trying to calculate. She was fast and fluid; this felt very one-sided, like a child with a wooden sword fighting Zorro or something. You tried to lunge and swing back, but she easily dodged or blocked; she peddled you all the way to the fountain, forcing you to move onto the lip, backing up more, and she followed gracefully.
You tried to get her to go on the offensive by stabbing at her shoulder, but it didn’t matter; she used the guard to block and the pommel to shove you away from her. You almost fell off the lip of the fountain, but you caught yourself, feeling your ankle almost twist. You stood and were about to try to tap out when you felt a sting against your cheek, and a playfully teasing giggle came from the woman.
You blinked and felt something thicker than water against your cheek; she cut you. How rude. Her smirk made it so much more: "I can't wait to wipe that wicked smirk off of your smug face." You moved forward with a bit more gusto and a lot more anger; your movements were not graceful but much stronger; you actually got her to step back a few times, putting her on the defensive for the first time; you were certainly not using the rapier in the intended fencing way, but that was fine; you had an excuse. “Oh…there she is, think you can? Then come on, wipe it off my face.” You heard Missy tease. "Are you mad? Are you so hurt that I gave you a love tap, my dearest?” She giggled again, "I had to give you a reason to fight back, not be such a scaredy cat... go on, hit me, try it lovely, make me sad and cry.” She said her tone was goading. You made valiant attempts, but she dodged them or parried them away. That was until you caught her arm. You both looked at each other in shock for a moment. Your eyes were wide as a dangerous smirk crossed her lips. "Well, now that we’ve both drawn blood, the fun can really begin.” She said, “This is fun…you are having fun being awful at this, I’m having fun watching you try so hard...now I am really going to play.” She said with a grin. You didn’t like the sound of that; you could tell she hadn’t been really going hard on you, but now you feared what would actually happen when she went after you for real.
It happened so fast. She had locked your blade against hers, forcing you back off the fountain, staying right on you as you tried to keep backing up to unlock your blades. Your back hit the wall hard, and you felt her tighten the blades, pushing harder against you. You forgot how strong she was. The blades slid up almost against your throat. You did the only thing you could do. You leaned forward, suddenly throwing caution to the wind as you crashed your lips against hers. Your eyes closed as you felt her seem to think of what she wanted to do here before she kissed back. It was chaotic and so passionate, but there was biting and tongues. Her free hand grabbed you right above your hip, keeping you pinned as her tongue forced its way past your slightly parted lips. There was a soft sound that escaped your throat as she moved to pin you with her body instead. You managed to get your blade free before you tried to pull back, but she wouldn’t let you go. She let her blade go, and it clattered, causing you to jump. She grabbed yours roughly and yanked it from you. It also clattered on the floor, but then her hand was cupping the side of your neck. Before it slowly moved down, the pads of her fingers traced slow patterns down to your thigh before pushing past the hem of the skirt you wore. There was a moment you assumed she was going to go further, but she didn’t; instead, she stepped back just a bit, licking her lips some as she watched you open your eyes. Your skin was blushing, your body was hot, and your breath was heavy as you stared at her, her hand still lingering on your upper thigh, almost your hip under your skirt.
“That was almost a good strategy,” she said calmly before she slipped her hand away as she moved to sit down on the almost forgotten picnic blanket.
You stood there for a moment and then eventually moved to follow. Sitting down, she grinned at you, "Oh, my dear, you seem flushed. Just wait until I get you back to the Tardis.” She said in a playful tone, but you knew it was anything but playful; it was a promise of something more intimate.
She threw open the picnic basket and paused at the jelly babies and crisps. “You think you are funny,” she said, looking at you, and you nodded with a soft grin.
“I am.” You nodded, ready to have a romantic picnic on a desolate planet in a collapsing universe, trying to race the clock before her past selves showed up. It was so crazy, but you were definitely looking forward to what she had planned for you when you got back to the Tardis.

Remember
Remember
“Don’t look away,” Growled Ganondorf, “you-”
“You don’t remember.” Said the Hylian, Link, frowning at Ganondorf.
“What?” Sneered Ganondorf, livid at being interrupted.
“You don’t remember.” Repeated Link, sighing with the Sages staring at him in confusion, “We’ve been through this time and time and time again. Since the dawn of the world and across the timelines. We know each other, more than you think.”
“I don’t know what your blathering about.” Snarled Ganondorf, as Link quietly pulled a spring from a Zonai capsule.
Link sighed, “Okay, let’s see what you do remember, because I don’t want to fight someone who doesn’t know why he’s the biggest prick in the world.”
Ganondorf went to grab his sword, when the ‘sword of legend’ flashed.
“Calm down, Fi, we’re still going to kill him.” Dismissed Link, frowning at Ganondorf, “You’re still going to die, do you remember being stabbed in the head by a child in green?”
Ganondorf stared at Link, getting another sigh, “Obviously not, how about nearly being disembowelled by an angsty looking wolf?”
Ganondorf just unsheathed his sword.
“Alright, how about drawing your sword from your servant’s chest and vanishing into another plane?” Said Link, drawing the Master Sword.
Ganondorf froze, suddenly finding himself in a throne room launching an orb of energy at a young man in green, while a princess hung in a pink crystal suspended above them. He then felt a searing pain in his chest, the man in green looked different, vastly different, but he could tell it was the same person.
“You’re starting to remember,” Mused Link, readying for the impending battle, “good.”
Ganondorf felt himself getting up from the ground, the man in green different once again, glaring up at him. He glanced at his hand, freezing at the sight of a triangle on the back of it. He shook his head and snarled at Link, “Get out of my head, you welp!”
Link dodged the swing, parrying the blade away from him.
Ganondorf was at the top of a castle, water pouring down around him, fighting two children, a princess aiming a bow at him, while a boy in green launched himself into the hair and ramming his sword in his forehead.
Ganondorf yelled, throwing himself at Link and the Sages.
R
“Link?” Asked Riju, looking at him as they examined Ganondorf’s lifeless body, “Two questions, how did he turn back? I thought the dragon-ifying thing was permanent, and what were you talking about back there?”
“Just some old history Rij.” Dismissed Link, looking at the back of Ganondorf’s right hand, “Things between him and I just span more than one lifetime.”
Zelda prodded Ganondorf’s eye with a stick.
“Zel, I’m waving his hand around, I’m sure he’s dead.” Protested Link, as he accidentally nudged the hilt of a broken sword. Ganondorf’s body twitched, getting a scream from some of the assembled crowd and an arrow to the eye from Tulin.
“For the love of Din, he’s already dead!” Groaned Link, as Tulin looked at him.
“He twitched.”
“He twi- Of course he twitched,” Yelled Link, grabbing the hilt of the broken sword, “He’s got a sword embedded in his nervous system!”
Ganondorf’s body twitched with each movement of the sword.

i just love link so much. no matter the game. the courage he always presents, no matter how young or old he is
how he’s knocked out in the ordon spring and wakes up to ilia and colin both gone, and he immediately sprints, unarmed, into faron. he’s then met with the wall of twiligt, turns into a wolf, is imprisoned, and is thrown into everything he never imagined, and yet he takes it all in stride and never stops looking for the kids and saving hyrule. the little town farmer. goat herder. faux big brother. all of that turned a boy who fought a resurrected skeleton, mastered a city in the sky, defeated the king of another dimension, and sealed away the demon king with a sword through the abdomen
the little kid from kokiri. the boy without a fairy. showing up to mido and learning of his path via the deku tree. taking on the parasite of a big fish and beating a huge dodongo in the depths of a volcano. going on to jump in time seven years, realizing ganondorf wreaked havoc on the world because of it, and working to reseal him.
the school age kid in the sky. who flew birds as a living and was in love with his friend. who saw her get swept away right in front of him and took no hesitation to get to the ground and search for her. who went through the silent realm time after time. who passed through time and fought a creature like ghirahim and eventually demise to save zelda and skyloft / hyrule
the big brother and grandson who lived peacefully on an island with his baby sister and grandmother. who just… hung out. Whose sister was kidnapped and he didn’t waste a second to get on the pirate’s ship to find out where she was taken. his whole determination came from needing to save her. and even when she was, he kept on. killing the helmaroc king and going on to try and kill ganondorf, only to be brought down into hyrule and learn of tetra’s identity, and his own. who, at his young age, put the master sword through ganondorf’s head and turned him to stone
the boy who grew up as seemingly more outspoken, especially around mipha. but he became zelda’s knight, whose goal was to protect her with his life. the thing he took most seriously. the kid who stood up between zelda and multiple guardians, even as he was on the brink of death. the boy who was willing, after getting his arm covered in malice, to dive into nothingness to grab zelda’s hand in an attempt to save her life, not knowing what could greet them at the bottom. who does succeed at grabbing her hand and saving her by the end. who carried her out of the water and continued being what he did best: be her knight
he is just. no matter the game. a little, innocent kid, sometimes not even knowing the part he really plays in the world. and for something to happen; his sister, the love of his life, fellow kids who were his family, he rushes into the face of danger to save them.
theres a reason he has the triforce of courage

Forsaken AU PLOT
Ok, usually I’m like “nah I don’t want to share because I want it to be a surprise!” But let’s be real. Given how many other obsessions I have, and my attention span, and time and energy… who knows if this will ever get written. So I’ll share so we can all be excited about it :)
Anyway. So the basic premise of the Forsaken AU, of course, is that impending doom is coming and Zelda, being the overconfident and eager princess that she is, tries to claim the Triforce for herself to defend her kingdom, and it fractures as a result. She has to find Link, but there are eighty thousand Links in Hyrule, so she has to sort through all of them and she finds Gerudo Link and Mystery Link.
The impending darkness, of course, is Ghirahim, because he’s just goofy and ridiculous enough to fit the vibe of this plot. Mystery accidentally revived him a year or two ago and has been trying to rectify that ever since. Ghirahim, of course, is trying to revive Demise. At first he seeks to do so through Gerudo Link, recognizing that Ganondorf often willingly hosted Demise’s malice. Gerudo’s just like “…dude. No. Why are you being weird.”
Eventually Zelda manages to haul Mystery and Gerudo back to her family, whether it’s before or after she’s realized they both bear Triforce pieces, idk, probably after, maybe they had a confrontation with Ghirahim and it revealed it or something. But the Queen remembers Mystery, of course, and asks him to take up the mantle of Hero once more to save Hyrule from impending darkness.
Mystery. Does NOT. Want to get back into Main Plot land. But he knows he can’t stop it, especially since he freed Ghirahim anyway. He hates it. But he tries to take the Master Sword. But he’s too terrified. So he asks Fi to allow Gerudo to wield the sword as well, and he has Gerudo help him pull the Master Sword from the pedestal before handing it off to him.
Zelda is thrilled, of course, because she was right on BOTH accounts for the Links. The queen is bemused but will accept the sword’s decision. Gerudo is horrified that he got tossed into this “WAIT A SECOND YOU ASKED ME TO HELP YOU PULL IT OUT NOT JUST HAND IT OFF TO ME HANG ON—“
But Mystery? Suddenly he is Full Throttle. He starts training Gerudo Link as hard as he can. They spend a month drilling, and he tells Zelda she better have her magic ready.
And then he vanishes. Zelda’s stunned - surely… surely he didn’t actually just Nope out of there after dumping his responsibility on Gerudo??
In reality, Mystery went to seek out Ghirahim himself. Mystery knows that his own magic is powerful in controlling spirits. He started this mess, and he’ll try to finish it himself, in a way where nobody else is involved. He knows this is either going to work or backfire spectacularly, which is why his backup was to train Gerudo to know exactly how to fight him so he’d kill him if something went wrong.
Instead of being able to confront Ghirahim, though, Mystery comes in as the demon lord is about to sacrifice an entire village to try and resurrect a piece of Demise. Instead, Mystery decides to really take a gambit… he offers himself as a host for Demise.
He has magic to control spirits. He has a piece of the Triforce. Let’s play a little.
Possessed Mystery Link is a terrifying sight to behold, but it saves the village, because Mystery is fighting Demise’s control with every fiber of his being. Unfortunately, Zelda and Gerudo came to confront him about leaving, and now they’re stuck with Demise trying to control Mystery.
Good news is that Demise isn’t the same strength he was when Ghirahim used Hylia to resurrect him - he’s a ghost of his former power, even if that’s still extremely formidable. As such, Mystery does fight Gerudo and Zelda for a while, but he eventually wrestles control over himself enough to kick the malice out of his body, earning himself the right to the full Triforce, and then the real battle begins, with Gerudo using the Master Sword, Zelda using her light arrows, and Mystery using his magic to essentially lasso a leash onto the demonic Ganon form to reel him in. I suppose Ghirahim’s in the midst of this too, maybe Zelda took him out during the initial fight because she deserves to kick his butt >:)
Anyway, the image of Dark Beast Ganon going toe to toe with Zelda, armed with her bow and arrows, Gerudo, armed with the Master Sword, and Mystery, eyes glowing gold with the Triforce on his left hand while he uses a golden leash to bring the beast to heel so the other two can fight it was too cool an image to not mention >:D
