Okay so now that it's confirmed Olek has a twin brother (and a fraught relationship with him to say the least), whom do we think Ling Yi sees coming out of the oil drum and going into the portal in episode 8??

So funny story: I was doomscrolling when I can across a video of someone touring a historical building in Japan, and the background instrumental was weirdly distinct? So after a few minutes of awkward listening and thinking, I realized it was the song that played when Ling Yi was preforming for Lucien. Then, I proceeded to spend an hour trying to get Siri to listen to it over the talking, googling ambiguous titles, and commenting trying to ask people for a title, when I realized I could've just had Siri listen to the clip from 1899... which would've taken a minute, not an hour... and I found the song is call 'Sakura Sakura'. This has no significance, other than the fact it was played for like 2 minutes in the show, but I can now peacefully go on with my day.

Not sure who here is still having 1899 thoughts but I have a theory I'm chewing over

That triangle symbol that's everywhere... Dark taught us that Bo and Jantje like a good symbol with structural significance to the show. So I've been wondering what the triange could indicate, and here's my current proposal

Three keys

You know how in Stranger Things s3 (stay with me) when Joyce and Hopper try and shut down the gate and they need to both turn keys in order to do so, because the system is designed so one person alone can't switch it off? What if the simulation is like that? Maura's key opened one section, but like a puzzle box it's only opened up a new puzzle to open?

I'm playing with the idea that there are two more keys the characters need to find and use to actually break free of the simulation. I just love the idea that to spite Henry's jibe that they keep failing because their emotions get in the way, that actually escape can only be possible with the characters working together.

Just noticed that in this moment (in episode 6) Olek talks to Ling Yi in English for the first time. In the events leading up to it Eyk had also been using English to convey instructions to everyone, but I think Olek was making an extra effort here to try out another language he and Ling Yi could use to communicate. Of course they understood each other implicitly anyway, but I love the gesture 🥹
