a/n lady taniara is @daughterofimladris mellon nin. Please go show her some love- she deserves it. So my friend @sorisooyaa​ convinced me to add in my Erestor headcannon into this story- she also made that moodboard as visual representation- which made me weak in the knees to write this. She also helped me out a lot here! :) Thank you, girlie! So happy to have you back!

A month or more had flown since Tara had arrived in Imladris.

It was a beautiful place.

Lady Taniara and the elleth had gotten closer.

Always glued to the hip as Master Erestor had put it not too long ago.

It was true however- of course he was right.

Tara and Lady Taniara were always seen together- you could know the whereabouts of one if asked the other.

It annoyed Erestor at times- hearing the giggles and quiet whispers of two young elleths in his study.

As much as he was grateful for their friendship- he had seen the many times Lady Taniara only wondering around himself, Glorfindel and Lindir because there weren’t many elves close to her age in Imladris, but now he was happy to see her freely have a friend that was close in age to her- but it still caused him great annoyance.

They would constantly chatter away in his study- Lady Taniara would also help Tara sneak away from work.

But honestly, he couldn’t be mad at that. He hadn’t given the elleth much work anyways- only constantly having to read over his writings for corrections. That is if there was any, but there never was.

But he would be lying if he said he didn’t like to see lady Tara immerse herself into his theories daily- someone who truly appreciated the values of discovering history to make the future brighter.

He had considered her idea of the so-called ‘blue moon’ and the ellon found himself day and night researching it.

Erestor didn’t understand as to why he was doing such a thing but he figured it was the least he could do for the elleth that constantly brought breakfast every morning and left his lunch in his study while he was deep in the aisles of the library or brought him tea when he didn’t even ask for it- but nevertheless needed it.

She acted more as a dutiful wife than an assistant and Erestor had cursed himself for ever thinking that way towards the young elleth.

He wouldn’t have if Glorfindel hadn’t joked about- but since the blonde lord had said it, Erestor did realize Tara sometimes took things into her own hands without thinking what it could bring or how it may look to another- but they were good deeds after all- maybe he can let it slide.

Erestor hissed out a curse and threw his quill away- the left side if his face was starting to hurt.

It usually happened whenever he was thinking too hard or his mind was in chaos.

His jaw locked as he balled his hands into first as the side of pace intensified in pain.

Like past memories came rushing through so did it- it was getting harder and harder to hide it.

He groaned and got up from his desk.

Erestor hoped the shelves of books would be enough to hide him away at this moment.

The pain coursed through his face- underneath his left eye, the top of his cheek and top of his nose to the middle of his forehead- it was becoming very prominent he knew and he could do nothing but hide.

At least he was away from everyone, no one could see.

“I hope don’t mind Lady Taniara wasn’t available-“

But a familiar voice followed by a gasp made him freeze.

He hadn’t seen the elleth kneeing on the ground to stack away books on the lowest shelf until she stood up to speak.

But she stopped speaking the minute their eyes met.

Erestor couldn’t breath for the entire minute her hazel eyes socked it all in- slowly widening in the process.

He turned away to the side covering the left side of his face, forcing the elleth to awkwardly gulp.

She was about to apologize when he asked.

“Did you see it?”

His voice wavered slightly- something the elleth has never witnessed from this ellon.

He seemed . . . he seemed so vulnerable at this point, before his eyes turned a harder shade- a coldness enveloping them.

“I. . .”

She didn’t know what to say.

Tara couldn’t lie when it was clear as daylight that she indeed saw one of his deepest secrets.

“Did you see it, Tara?!”

She gasped out in fear as he grabbed her from her arms and pushed her against the bookshelves.

The shelves rattled, some books falling off it.

Tara shut her eyes closed- but didn’t miss how he addressed her just by her name.

“I. . . “

She tried to speak again, but nothing came out after that.

When she peeked her eyes open, he stood before her- his grip still tight on her.

Erestor took a long breath and the elleth watched as his rose and fell deeply- in all honesty he was trying to control his anger.

“You tell no one about this!”

He warned her and she nodded meekly in response.

He sighed and after letting her away he stomped deeper into the library- not once looking back at her.

The elleth didn’t realize how fast her heart was breathing until he walked far away from her.

She rubbed her chest and tried to calm her heart.

The large scar imprinted on his face was still fresh and flashing before her eyes.

When something on the ground caught her eyes, she bent down to pick it up.

Tara picked up her own quill from the ground and whispered a silent prayer.
