Brenda Put Your Bra On
artist- Ashley McBryde, Caylee Hammack, Pillbox Patti
album- Lindeville
release- 2022
vibe- country/white trash trailer park jams
“Brenda, put your bra on, there's trouble next door
Grab a pack of cigarettes, and meet me on the porch
Marvin baby mama 'bout to catch him with a whore
Brenda, put your bra on (bra on, bra on)
I knew she shouldn't let that bitch watch her baby
I used to work with her at the Krystal
She always got them good shifts just 'cause she had good tits
And cut her shirts off at the middle”

My Tumblr unwrapped:
Medea at Soho Place. Still traumatised. In a good way.
Maggie Smith lands a fashion campaign.
Kristin Scott Thomas doing a terrible cover of You’re Free by Ultra Nate in Lyonesse at the Harold Pinter Theatre. iykyk.
Barbie movie. At the cinema. Twice.
youtube
The Brandi Carlisle- Annie Lennox collab of my dreams.
youtube
Lindeville and Lindeville live. 90% of my Spotify unwrapped was this album and I’m thrilled about it, but also aware those play counts don’t include how often I played it on the record player. It’s a masterpiece. And everyone needs it in their lives. Lindeville stage musical please and thank you.
Jodie Foster and her abs in Nyad. Little baby-queer me at 20 could never have imagined Jodie would play a sports lesbian one day. What a time to be alive!
Row 10 for Shania at the O2. Queen shit.
Hannah Waddingham here there everyfuckingwhere. It fills my heart with joy when theatre stalwarts get the recognition (and the paycheques) they so richly deserve. Absolute goddess, and the undisputed queen of 2023. 👑🎄

Brothers Osborne is an American country music duo consisting of brothers T.J. Osborne (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and John Osborne (lead guitar, background vocals).
Two sons from a working-class family, John and TJ Osborne grew up in the small water town of Deale, Maryland, writing and playing songs for friends and family in their father’s shed. John moved to Nashville first to play in other bands and two years later, TJ joined him. It was then they formed Brothers Osborne as a duo that blends equal parts country and rock into one of the freshest, most identifiable sounds to come out of Nashville in recent years.
The siblings took home their first GRAMMY in 2022, winning Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their song “Younger Me,” inspired by TJ's recent coming out. The song is featured on the deluxe version of their latest release Skeletons, which was also GRAMMY-nominated for Best Country Album. The band has been nominated for 10 GRAMMYs in total, standing as five-time CMA Vocal Duo of the Year, and are three-time ACM Duo of the Year. Overall, they have collected six CMA awards, six ACM trophies and received the ASCAP Vanguard Award in 2019. Their critically acclaimed hit songs have tallied multiple RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications, while surpassing more than 2.5 Billion global streams.
Previously sharing the bill with Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, Little Big Town and Miranda Lambert, Brothers Osborne’s latest headlining We’re Not For Everyone Tour hit more than 50 markets. Last fall, John Osborne produced Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville, and Brothers Osborne contributed the song “Play Ball.” They wrapped 2022 with a limited-edition collaboration with WhistlePig Whiskey, launching the WhistlePig PiggyBack Legends Series: Brothers Osborne Barrel. Three songs – including their brand new single “Nobody’s Nobody” – are out now, serving as the first look at their upcoming fourth studio album, set to release later this year.

// Also most of my ocs live in a small southern us town called Lindeville based on the album of the same name by Ashley McBryde. They're also Heavily affiliated with @storyofwhoiam's Lindeville muses (if you're not already following you're missing out as they're my favourite person ever lol). They are NOT location locked though and I am More than happy to move them around to fit any dynamic or thread!

I have been trying for 3 months to write up my favorite records list for 2022 and have roughly 13 half started blurbs and little else to show for it, so thank you @explosionshark for at least encouraging me to make a little collage and list them. The first 5 are my favorites in order (at least for today), and the rest are in roughly alphabetical order.
Camp Cope - Running With The Hurricane (this might not be in the top spot if they didn't just announce their breakup, but with that context jesus christ what a final statement)
Future Teens - Self Help
Pool Kids - Pool Kids
The Wonder Years - The Hum Goes On Forever
The 1975 - Being Funny In A Foreign Language (I know, I know, and if I ever finish my actual write up I have A LOT of thoughts about this one
Everything else: JER - Bothered/Unbothered Tegan and Sara - Crybaby Soul Glo - Diaspora Problems Gladie - Don't Know What You're In Until You're Out The Beths - Expert In A Dying Field Bartees Strange - Farm To Table Proper. - The Great American Novel Drug Church - Hygiene Hurray for the Riff Raff - Life on Earth Ashley McBryde - Lindeville Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loneliest Time T Swift - Midnights (also, I know, but again if I ever finish writing this shit up, I have a lot of thoughts about the Jack Antanoff of it all in this contrasted with his job on the 1975 record) Les Shirley - More is More MUNA - MUNA Eichlers - My Checkered Future Oceanator - Nothing's Ever Fine Beyoncé - Renaissance Murder By Death - Spell/Bound Coheed and Cambria - Vaxis Act II whatever I'm not looking it up Joyce Manor - 40oz. to Fresno

I want to highlight the AMAZING work Ashley McBryde is doing. "Martha Devine", for example, carries on the fine tradition of the country murder ballad with a twist I've genuinely never heard before.
And her entire Ashely McBryde Presents: Lindeville concept album is by turns haunting and hilarious:
youtube
And just in case you think McBryde is all about the slut shaming based on these two songs, I really do want to underscore that she's a storyteller first, working from a particular tradition, rather than an asshole.
See also: "One Night Standards" and "Styrofoam"

Everyone may *think* they hate country music, but when Jolene, Before He Cheats, Take Me Home Country Roads, or Life is a Highway comes on, everyone is suddenly a liar.
#i grew up on country music#and i hate what commercialized modern country has become#but i love with the more indie artists are doing on the fringes these days#ashley mcbryde#music#country music#Youtube

My Album a Day - Day 93
For today's revisit of last year, I wanted to pick a genre that I haven't listened to too much so far this year: country. I actually grew up listening to a fair amount of country...at least until it got all jingoistic during the Bush years. But I still have my fair share of favorites. So I found this album by just doing a quick google search of best country albums last year, and the blurb for this one stood out to me as something I'd like. And...well, I sure am good at picking things out for me, because I loved this. This was a fun little concept album, with each song featuring a narrative about a different people in a small town. Some of the songs are crass and humorous, and some of them are extremely heartfelt, but all of them were great. I definitely see me revisiting this one.
Favorite Songs: The Girl in the Picture, Play Ball, The Missed Connection Section of the Lindeville Gazette, Gospel Night at the Strip Club
My Enjoyability Rating (not the same as quality): 4.75/5
