"Well she seems pretty upset to me," Orion said, swinging upside down on the bar outside. The world were his monkey bars and he was more than happy to jump around- at least until his mom caught him and told him to get down. "I thought you didn't get caught? Are you in trouble now?"
“I didn’t think I got caught either!” She said, pacing slightly. “But somebody told her because she called me to her rooms to tell me off about sneaking out and running around the city without any protection. Of course someone recognized me, I should’ve used a spell.” She looked just like her mom, if anyone noticed her they probably would’ve realized who she was, even with the makeup she wore. “Do you know where your mom keeps the Grimmerie?” she asked, turning to look at Orion again.

She shrugged. She wasn’t always patient, especially when it came to some things, but she seemed to have endless patience when it came to Orion. “I think it’s just for you. I can be patient in so many ways when it comes to you, you’re family,” she said with a small smile.
Orion smiled. He was okay, not too badly hurt. His big cousin was there with him, and she wouldn't let him get in trouble for his own impulsiveness. "Ninna?" It was a nickname from Orion was learning to talk and the letters in his mouth just wouldn't come out as Linda, but one still affectionate. "How come it's easier for you to be patient then me?"

@thisshadeofred asked:
"Can I hold your hand?" (Thisshadeofred Orion to Linda, cousins be cousining)
affection.
Linda reached over, taking Orion’s hand in hers, swinging their arms as they walked to the park. As usual, they stopped at the candy store and Linda picked out some toffee candy and some taffy for them to snack on. She pulled one of the taffies out of her bag, pulling it open with her teeth and sticking it into her mouth. “Want one?”

[ LAZY ]: sender concedes to receiver's requests for a piggy-back ride home because they don't want to walk anymore, and carries them the rest of the distance home. (REVERSED Thisshadeofred Orion to Linda, big cousin plsssssss carry your baby home?)
carrying things.
Linda rolled her eyes as she crouched down, allowing Orion to crawl up onto her back. “Fine, come on,” she said, smiling despite herself. At this point she thought Orion would be able to walk the distance from the bookshop himself but maybe she miscalculated how tired her cousin was before they set off, even if she had bribed him with a stop for candy.

"What's did you do to piss off Aunt Glinda?" (Thisshadeofred Orion to Linda)
“Nothing!” Linda huffed, crossing her arms. “We were just– just talking about when I left the palace unaccompanied.” She knew she wasn’t allowed to, but she needed some time to herself. She’d dressed in such a way she didn’t think that she’d be recognized but evidently that was not the case and the fact she’d done so had gotten back to her mother.

“I thought so but I heard there’s some big secret about him not being as magical as people thought he was or something,” Linda shrugged. She hadn’t thought too much of it given how long ago it was but she knew that even if he had power, it wasn’t as much as people thought.
“I thought that too,” she added, turning the book back to herself and flipping a few more pages. What she needed was something that would last a few hours and wouldn’t take that long to cast.
"I mean, don't all Wizards have magic?" Orion didn't know much about him, other than he was a jerk to his mom. And that was reason enough not to like him. He swung over some railing in the library, looking at the book while hanging upside down. "Casting time is one hour and it only lasts for an hour. That one doesn't seem worth it, even if it can change your height."

Linda continued flipping through a book, skimming its pages for anything that could help her disguise herself. “Hm?” she murmured before his question sunk in and she glanced at the book in his hands. “Why would you want to learn counterspells?” she asked, closing her book and grabbing another, shoving the first back into the shelf.
Orion also began looking through the books- searching for his favorite one. He still couldn't cast spells intentionally yet, but he loved looking at all the pretty pictures of his mom's abjuration book. When his magic did slip out, it helped to have a picture of what it could look like, to do what he wanted. "Do you think I could do this one?" he asked, no longer paying as much attention to his sister's disguise pursuits, instead looking at spell that could counteract other spells.

Linda watched her cousin navigate the locks with a smile, glad she’d decided to ask him about her Aunt Elphie’s spellbooks. “I’ll figure that out when I can see the spells,” she replied with a smirk, grabbing a book and beginning to leaf through it. Her eyes flicked across the page, looking for some kind of spell that could disguise her.
They headed off to the library where Orion knew exactly where to go. "Mom keeps them behind puzzle locks," he explained, navigating the locks with ease. "But she hasn't changed the puzzles in months. They're really easy now." He smiled, navigating the locks and gears with a practiced ease. It wasn't that he looked at his mom's books often, but when she and Auntie Glinda helped them with magic, he paid attention to things for once. "I don't know what spell would help though," he pouted.

Linda followed Orion across the courtyard toward the library. The library should’ve been her first place to look! There had to be some spellbooks hidden amongst the regular ones. “Wait for me!” she called after him, hurrying her pace.
"Mom's library!" Orion called out, before running out into the courtyard and towards the wind with the library. Mom always kept her spellbook hidden amongst the normal books in a way she thought Orion hadn't noticed. But surely one of her trans- transmut- turning stuff into other stuff book would have something to help Linda!

“Definitely not,” she said, squeezing his hand with a small smile. “And I won’t tell her why either you did,” she added with a small smirk. She swung their hands between them as she walked with him, leading them both towards town.
Orion held her hand tightly, happy at the new proposition. "We don't have to tell Mama I got hurted right?" the six-year-old asked, feeling more than a little shy. It was his fault, but he didn't want to get in trouble for playing on the banisters. He just wanted to get to town faster, that was all!

“Where?” Linda asked, quirking an eyebrow. This definitely wouldn’t be the Grimmerie, but with all the other spell books her Aunt Elphie had, there was sure to be some kind of spell she could use.
Orion thought for a moment. Mom never showed him where she kept the Grimmerie- she only pulled it out when he wasn't looking, afraid he would get himself into trouble. But he did know where her own personal spell book was. "I think I know where we can find something though!"

Linda nodded. “Chocolate makes everything better,” she said with a small smile, standing him up and taking his hand. “Of course we can, I love seeing the butterflies.”
Orion cuddled up to her, feeling better with her hug and the promise of a cupcake. "Can we get chocolate?" he asked, wiping his tears on his sleeve. Chocolate made just about everything better. "And go through the gardens? I wanna see the butterflies again."

“I’m pretty sure a scarecrow would still stand out around a bunch of Ozians.” She stopped pacing, crossing her arms as she thought. “Maybe there’s another spell book somewhere if we can’t find the Grimmerie, something with some kind of disguise spell.”
Orion thought for a moment. "Well, Mom did turn Uncle Fiyero into a scarecrow for a while right? That would change how you looked for sure."

Linda helped him up, looking him over for any serious injuries. He seemed fine, abet a little banged up, so she wrapped her arms around him and gave him a gentle hug. “You’re okay,” she said, patting his back. “You’ll feel better once we get to town and get a cupcake.”
Orion had taken a pretty good tumble down the last bit of stairs, crashing into a set of benches down at the end of the flight. His side hurt pretty bad from where he landed, but he could still move around. Little tears formed in his eyes. "Sissy," he frowned, holding his arms out to her. "Hurts..."

“Yeah, it was,” Linda smiled leaning her head against his momentarily as she walked. “I probably looked at clothes for too long though, didn’t I?” she asked. She knew she made Orion wait for her for a while, but she couldn’t help finding so many good pieces of clothes. “Do you want a hard candy?” She reached into her pocket, pulling out the sweet.
Orion smiled as his big cousin crouched down for him. They'd had a big adventure together out in town today- a very special treat for them both. They'd gotten to look at all kinds of books and toys and even the candy shop. Linda had looked at clothes for soooooo long though and it wore him out on the way back. He had to ask for a piggyback ride. Even if he was getting too big for it. "Today was the best," he said, laying his head on her shoulder.

“My mom knows every makeup spell there is,” Linda said, rolling her eyes. “And I probably know most of them. I need a different spell if I’m going to go out without being recognized. Something that’ll really change how I look. The Grimmerie would have something like that, wouldn’t it?” In all likelihood she wouldn’t even be able to read the book, but it was worth a try, wasn’t it?
Orion watched as his big cousin- realistically his big sister for all intents and purposes- pace back and forth. "Mom says we're not supposed to touch the Grimmerie though! It's only for emergencies!" He'd only seen the book a few times, but he couldn't read it. It wasn't in any language he'd seen anywhere else. He doubted Linda could read it too. "Maybe Mom could help? Doesn't she know makeup spells?"
