TL;DR: This AU is exactly what is sounds like. Everyone gets a happy family.

Feat. Dadmight, and his sons Izuku and Tenko, Big Bro Dabi with his little bro, Shinson and his Dadzawa.

allmight n inko end up dating and tenko n izu are brothers

dabi and tenko are third year ua herocourse students when izu and the others join

tenko is a soft sunshine boy cause izu rubbed off on him a lot

dabi wants to be an underground hero so he'll never be like his father

todoroki takes the entrance exam so inasa and hitoshi are recommendation students

izuku kills the exam because he starts ua being able to use full cowl 5%, breaking allmights record with a whopping 130 points

because consider dabi, shouto, izu, tenko and hitoshi all singing karaoke together, dabi has a tambourine and tenko is violently shaking maracas

izuku and inko dont know toshi is allmight, but tenko and toshi are terrible liars

the first time toshi meets izuku its just tenko presenting him saying "you gotta give it to him dad"

izu is only 5 n still broken up about having no quirk, toshi says he might just be a late bloomer while tenko nods

toshi sneaks izuku his quirk when he turns 7, izuku wakes up n accidentally punches a hole in the ceiling, he n katsuki make up cause izuku has a bomb ass quirk even if it does break his bones

izuku broke allmights record for points scored in the entrance exam but hes still scared he failed

starts as normal students enter, villains arrive kurogiri has an ear piece and is talking with afo directly, some of the 8 prefects goons are there too

hitoshi used his quirk on kurogiri to find out who they are, but is targeted after that and the villains know not to respond

the students are scattered, its izu/tsuyu and hitoshi. they do the whirlpool thing w/o the sitcking, hitoshi instructs them to tread water and not to move

hitoshi is nearing quirk overuse, tsuyu is shaken, izu is pretty much ok

aizawa is fighting the villains as normal, the nomu arrives

hitoshi tries to mind control the nomu, kurogiri attempts to direct one of the nomus punches to hitoshi, aizawa cancels the portal, severing one of the nomus arms. its grows back, aizawa is beaten

izuku charges forward, fighting the nomu with a higher percentage of full cowl than he can safely use but they are evenly matched

todoroki shows up, cant help because the two are moving so fast he cant aim his quirk and not hit mido

he and hitoshi keep kurogiri busy

before allmight arrives, dabi and tenko do, after seeing tenya running towards the school

izuku can barely move, over using his quirk to the point that he has countless micro fractures and the nomu has landed a few punches, and he took others to protect aizawa

tenko yells at dabi to grab izuku, kurogiri mentions that his master killed tenkos family and hes pissed

he cant stand up to the nomu but shouto makes an opening and he and dabi try to damage it as best they can, shouto has to hold izuku down to stop him from joining the fight again

allmight arrives, quickly dispatches the nomu, turns on Kurogiri

so tenko, allmight and a shaky izu are all facing down kurogiri while afo is trying to convince him to keep fighting

reinforcements arrive and kuro nopes out

as soon as the portal closes, izuku collapses and tenko n allmight rush over, shouto is grabbing onto dabi and hitoshi is trying to get aizawa to respond

hitoshi, crying, has to ask dabi to pick up his dad because his arms are shaking to bad hes scared he might drop him

tenko has no gloves anymore and he cant touch izuku and hes just lost, shouto wraps an arm around him and hitoshi n they cry as dabi takes aizawa and allmight takes izuku to recovery girl

aizawa n izu in the same hospital, hitoshi tells him what izuku did n aizawa fucking, breaks out of bed like a jackass to call him a problem child then fucking limps back

less depressingly, happy families dabi and tenko do "get help" from Thor Ragnarok

no matter how many people they date everyone always insists that katsuki and izuku are dating each other

izuku is actually dating shouto but no one believes him for some reason

dabi and hitoshi find it so funny

please consider dabi being the frontrunner of these rumours, like these random first years will come up to izuku while he’s eating lunch with shouto and they’ll be in t e a r s

dabi is in it. hes a full hero at this point but nezu gave him a pass so he could attend

shouto, in a deadpan voice: “good morning girls today i saw katsuki and izuku sharing bread. discuss”

kirishima is one of the most popular fanartists

tenko loves the meme but looking at his brother and bakugo “dating” makes him deeply upset so he breaks in to decay all the art on the walls once a week

he crowds shouto in tears one day

“how are you okay with your boyfriend and your classmate being the subjects of such horrid art”

shouto, deadpan: “it’s just a prank bro”

izuku falls asleep in the common room and toshi carries him back to his room and has to call tenko to unlock the door for him. tenko was in his own dorm on the other side of school.

iida the good boy finishes his essays the week before and hands them in a day early

izuku, the hot mess, procrastinates by training until he cant feel his arms and doing any other subject work than the stuff due, stays up till 4am to finish his essay and doesnt go back to sleep cause its time for his morning run

Tenko finishes his the day before but he gets izuku to read it over

Lessons for the MonsterVerse

I have always been a big fan of Godzilla. I’ve been watching the movies since I was a kid. Now that they’re making new movies again, there’s a lot to be excited about and look forward to. Recently, I re-watched the newest one from the American MonsterVerse, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, as well as the last film from the Millennium era, Godzilla: Final Wars. Both films are big, ambitious, and include some major flaws, one of which they have in common, or at least they have flaws with overlap. While the MonsterVerse, so far, is great and is on track to continue that trend, Final Wars suffered greatest from this shared flaw, and so I am here to set out what the MonsterVerse needs to do to avoid self-destruction: take itself seriously.

Briefly, I want to provide a review and synopsis of King of the Monsters. So spoilers, it’s really good. Five years after Godzilla made landfall in San Francisco and fought against the parasitic MUTOs, Monarch is struggling to figure out what it wants to do with the Titans, as the monsters are now known, while the government and military are pressuring Monarch to kill them all. At the same time, one of their own scientists, Emma Russell, betrays them to assist ecoterrorist Alan Jonah in awakening the Titans with a bioacoustics device called the ORCA so that the Titans can spur regrowth in the environment and undo anthropogenic climate change. They revive Ghidorah in Antarctica, who then awakens all the other Titans still sleeping around the world at once, thus precipitating a conflict with Monarch and Godzilla for the crown. The film sets out to cover a lot of narrative ground while introducing several important elements to the series, and all the while it held together some solid character work for its main cast. Based on the new, expansive mythos that this film lays out—with the many new Titans and the abandoned Hollow Earth society discovered in vast underground caverns which used to live in harmony with the Titans—it looks like things will only get more exciting, and the future of the MonsterVerse is set out effectively and in grand style.

Godzilla: Final Wars is also about a large amount of monsters fighting for control of the Earth, feature monsters trapped in Antarctic ice, and ends with Godzilla fighting Ghidorah, but that’s where the similarities end. Final Wars was released in 2004 as the commemorative 50th anniversary film for the franchise. In it, the Earth has been defended from monsters for decades by the Earth Defense Force, who managed to trap Godzilla in ice in Antarctica years prior. All the other monsters around the world attack at once in the present, and the EDF was unable to keep up until the Xiliens arrived from space, removing the monsters and promising to make a peaceful alliance with humanity. In reality, the Xiliens were invading the Earth in order to herd humans like cattle because they need to eat human mitochondria to survive, and they were secretly controlling the monsters. So the heroes free Godzilla so he can help them fight the aliens and their army of brainwashed monsters. The plot also involved mutant humans and a fake rogue planet that was also somehow an actual asteroid that Godzilla later blows up. It’s a mess of a movie. That aside, it’s clear the film is trying to borrow elements from the three previous eras of Godzilla movies. It took an edgier look from the majority of the Millennium movies (from 1999-2004). The use of serious, formidable super vehicles is like the various super planes from the Heisei era films (1984-1995). However, the element borrowed from the Showa era films (1954-1975) is where it falters: campiness. The difference in this film compared to the Showa films being that they purposefully made Final Wars campy, despite the opportunity they had and despite the tone of the Showa era movies.

The original film, Gojira, is a very serious and tonally heavy film depicting the horrors of the modern era, with rapid industrialization in post-war Japan, the advent of the Cold War arms race, and the reason for that arms race, nuclear weapons, with the one man capable of killing Godzilla horrified by the devastation such an ability would grant. This movie and its first sequel were the only Godzilla films made in black and white, which impacts the way they look and how their special effects come across. After a several year hiatus, Godzilla returned to the screen to fight King Kong, this time in color. Seeing those monster suits and the limited special effects capabilities in 1960 of a B-list sci-fi flick in color really emphasizes how phony it all looked at the time. Throughout the Showa era, Godzilla shifted from an entirely villainous character to an erstwhile hero, and though the movies never stopped being presented as dramatic, they were made with an acknowledgement of how they look despite the drama and seriousness the creators otherwise wanted them to have.

Over time, of course, special effects improved. Starting with the Heisei era of films, Toho was able to produce much better suits and visual effects, and so they resumed making their movies with the kind of drama and seriousness that they had wanted all along. The Millennium era began in response to the 1998 American Godzilla, which depicted the titular monster with CGI, in contrast to the Toho tradition of using suits. The Millennium era was the last hurrah to suitmation effects, and these films, overall, looked great, probably the best that a giant monster movie can look with people in suits. Accordingly, they also hold up the more dramatic tone of the Heisei era while allowing each creative team the freedom to make the standalone Godzilla movie they wanted to make. The exception to this is Final Wars, which, as previously said, was not serious at all. Despite the successes of making serious, dramatic monster movies since 1984 and the ambitions of the Showa era’s large and imaginative canon, Final Wars decided to celebrate five decades of filmmaking by using cheesy comedy, camera work that screams “we had to edit heavily to make our actors look like action stars,” and what may very well be the least convincing acting of the entire series. The only person on set who seemed to understand any of this is alien commander X, who looked like he was being goofy on purpose, instead of on accident like the rest of the cast. Final Wars had the same opportunity as the rest of the Millennium era had to present a serious, dramatic battle for the fate of the Earth, and wasted it with aliens that seem completely unqualified to invade another planet and cramming most of their monsters into throwaway fights with Godzilla that lasted on average less than a minute.

This purposeful camp and goofiness of Final Wars is presumably meant to provide a lightness and humor to the film. This is where it overlaps with King of the Monsters, which ventured into the modern era of ironic, self-aware humor to provide levity. Borrowing from the MCU, King of the Monsters cracks wise during dramatic moments relatively often, in an attempt to lighten them up. Unfortunately, the jokes they go with are the weakest material in the film, and they do more to undermine the dramatic tension than enhance the film or provide levity. It’s like the scene in Thor: Ragnarok when Korg says they can rebuild Asgard, and then it blows up more, so never mind; or Hawkeye explaining how ridiculous his fighting robots with a bow and arrow is to Scarlet Witch in Age of Ultron. Maybe those are funny jokes, but they do more to undermine the dramatic tension than they add in humor, and both have the capacity to turn parts of the audience off by poking holes in the premise. It’s rather insecure and shows a lack of confidence in the work to stand on its own merits despite critics or easy jokes from the peanut gallery. This brand of humor gave us moments in King of the Monsters like Sam Coleman mishearing Ilene Chen saying “Ghidorah” as “gonorrhea.” It’s really not that funny, it wasn’t a moment that needed lightening up, and there’s no reason he would have misheard her since he was standing within ten feet. It ultimately undermines a moment in the film for an Asian woman to demonstrate her expertise by locating vital information about the threat at hand. But yes, Sam, I guess monsters sometimes have slightly silly-sounding names, like Ghidorah, which is based on the Japanese pronunciation of hydra, a very popular and well-respected mythical dragon.

The 2014 Godzilla film that started the MonsterVerse was enjoyable, but didn’t quite live up to its potential. That’s part of the reason I delayed seeing Kong: Skull Island far longer than I should have. When I did see it, I was amazed. I expected it to be good, and I heard great things about it, but it was far better than anything I could have imagined it to be. It was a truly great movie. After seeing it, my hopes and expectations for the MonsterVerse skyrocketed. I don’t think these expectations have been let down yet, and I expect them to be satisfied moving forward. However, the one thing I wanted most going into King of the Monsters was for them to lean into the tone and style of Skull Island more. In certain respects, I think they did, and the ambitious mythos being built here is far more substantial than anything in the Godzilla franchise so far, which usually has stuck to “monsters keep showing up and fighting.” The dramatically absurd tone, though, was what they lost by using the ridiculousness of what’s happening to make quick, weak, sometimes self-aware jokes instead of to highlight the intensity of the drama experienced by the characters. In Skull Island, when the squad had to fly their planes through a permanent thunderstorm, Sam Jackson’s character started quoting a speech about how the righteous men will win by not backing down and so inherit the Earth. The speech makes the whole thing feel even more ridiculous than a permanent thunderstorm already is, and in doing so amps up the drama and tension. This ultimately makes the arrival of a giant gorilla, which the audience is expecting to see, much more impressive and intense. That’s what I wanted for King of the Monsters. Yes, there are ridiculous aspects to giant monster movies, but the characters are living it, not watching it and thinking, “This crazy.”

Having this more serious tone is also important in really hitting the audience with the larger thematic power of the film. In Skull Island, the way Sam Jackson didn’t want to back down from killing Kong, even after seeing that it’s pointless and even detrimental to the troop, is reminiscent of the way America is currently stuck in multiple seemingly never-ending wars. At least part of the reason people don’t want to leave Iraq and Afghanistan is because they don’t want to create another Vietnam, the war that this film centers around on purpose. Having that tension of a dedicated army colonel who was just forced to “abandon” his war amplifies the drama of the other characters wanting to understand the problems of the natives and come to a real solution to their problems, and it all works because of how it resonates in the current political climate. The Godzilla side of the MonsterVerse so far is focusing on climate change, which, while abstract for far too many, is also a very real and pressing concern for a lot of people, paralyzing at times. Seeing the dramatic steps needed to fix the problem almost makes Alan and Emma’s plan in King of the Monsters feel heroic. The film is filled with images of crumbling, flooded American cities, and Ghidorah, an alien creating imbalance in nature a la humanity thinking itself separate from nature, is literally a living hurricane. There’s a lot of strong, serious, intense potential to make such a movie really meaningful. If they had taken themselves more seriously, it would have had this level of impact. It really is sad that they squandered this potential on silly jokes and a story arc for their generic, useless white man hero, Mark Russell. Like I said at the beginning, it’s still a good movie, but I can so clearly see how much better it could have been, too.

To me, dramatic movies making fun of themselves in important scenes always comes across as insecure, like filmmakers can’t simply make their movie first, they also have to preempt the internet to protect their egos. As the MonsterVerse moves forward, my biggest piece of advice is to do what Skull Island did and take itself seriously. We live in a time when a lot of previously niche franchises and genres are getting more spotlight due to the demands of studios wanting more high-action, effects heavy movies to sell huge on the international market. As these genres, once mired in cultural neglect and seen as silly and childish, come into the limelight, they both prove they always were to be taken seriously and poke fun at themselves to prove they know they shouldn’t be. I get the appeal of ironic, self-aware humor and wanting to be silly at dramatic high points, because it can be very fun and, when used properly, be incredibly funny; look to Thor: Ragnarok for an overall great example. But besides issues of improper use, this kind of humor is arguably at saturation at this point. It’s being misused and overused to the detriment of otherwise good movies in an attempt to compete with Marvel, who remains the poster child on this. So MonsterVerse, let Marvel, Disney, and all those imitators try to outdo each other by proving they can make more fun of themselves before Honest Trailers get to them. Just have fun making movies about giant monsters with the kind of drama and seriousness only modern special effect can give them, and use the ridiculousness of it all to amp up that drama instead of undermine it. Get over people calling you a nerd and just do your thing. As they say, being cool is all about confidence.

KNOWING WHAT WE KNOW NOW: ‘THOR: RAGNAROK’ EDITION

Seriously, though, I can’t wait for New Asgard, Norway, to be built and the cute Asgardians to settle in and...somehow...make a living, and then there’s tourists that come, maybe they’ll build a ski resort in the nearby mountains

Would that be a cool premise for a Valkyrie movie, if she’s adjusting to life on earth/protecting New Asgard?

But if they found a different planet it would be fine with me--heck, maybe the surviving Asgardians found somewhere to hide and decide it will be a good place to stay. Maybe there’ll be several different groups of Asgardians going different places.

I hope Thor’s seer/seeing across space ability comes into play in Endgame, and maybe he could share leadership responsibilities with Steve. Too much to ask for? Too much to ask for.

I think in Thor (2011) we took it too much for granted that Odin was a good parent, he’s a king and a god, and he cast out Thor to teach him a lesson and it worked out that Thor DID learn a lesson. In TDW we learned that he isn’t a perfect parent, but maybe at first it seemed like he and Thor were just disagreeing. Perhaps he learned that lesson about valuing life a little too well for Odin’s taste. So Ragnarok really establishes that Odin really was a dysfunctional and controlling parent. Not to mention earlier in his reign he was an ambitious conqueror who did a lot of evil stuff and Hela was exactly the same. Did Odin have a “real” change of heart? To an extent. Did he cover up the truth out of shame or just to go with the change in image? Maybe both.

Hela used Mjolnir as a weapon when she fought at Odin’s side and conquered the Nine Realms with him. Is Mjolnir’s power strictly limited to thunder and lightning? I’m not so sure. Hela can conjure her own weapons at will, and in abundance. Odin tells Thor that Mjolnir was just something to help him control his power. So maybe it was training wheels for Hela also.

Was Mjolnir an absolutely moral judge of character? No. I think Thor was able to pick it up again in his first movie because whatever spell Odin put on it required Thor to at least learn that he wasn’t all-powerful, and somehow standing up to Loki was part of that. During the scene where Thor sacrifices himself to the Destroyer we see Odin in the Odinsleep, and a tear comes out of his eye. Laufey tells Odin as he as about to assassinate him that they say that Odin can still hear what’s going on around him. As Allfather of the Nine Realms, too, he can see just as far and wide across the universe as heimdall can, and we get the impression in Thor during the battle in Puente Antigua that Loki could see really far, too. (Which means Thor has the same abilities, right?) So Odin was somehow conscious enough of what was happening on Midgard to break the spell on Mjolnir from a distance. So being able to pick up Mjolnir might not have much to do with character.

Except with Vision, Thor used his thunderblast on the android while still in the cradle to make sure he didn’t turn into Ultron, but he was probably channeling his own goodness. Thor and Vision are connected through Mjolnir, therefore Vision can use it.

By the ending, at least, it seemed like everything was going to be just fine---

GOSH DARN IT LOKI!

I think it goes to show that even as much as he loves his brother and his people, at the end of the day Loki looks out for himself

But I think in that opening scene in Infinity War Loki genuinely regrets it

I really wish the opening of Infinity War had done something to establish that there were Asgardians who escaped Thanos, if not Valkyrie and Korg, it’s not really enough for me to take the Russo’s word for it. Then again, depicting more of the battle as well as panicking civilians would have meant showing more bloodshed in an already intense PG-13 movie.

Guess who’s back? So I watched Thor: Ragnarok on Thursday and it was awesome! So I decide to made this:3

“Get out!” You shocked for a moment, you were looking for a socks in your twin brother’s drawer, it was so cold outside, you wear a long sleeved and a jacket, a pajama and a blanket while watching Martha Stewart on television.

Even when you already feel a little warm, but you realized your feet is cold and rigid. You forgot to bring your socks to your parent’s house, and you think Tom didn’t bring his socks too, since you are the one who packed his clothes. So you decided to go to your twin brother room, searching for a pair of socks on his drawer.

Your brother is still out with his friends, you didn’t know where, since when you just woke up he already gone, and maybe he will arrived home when you already fall asleep.

You came here because after your birthday and your brother’s birthday of course last week, on the birthday party everyone come, including your parents, but this night they decided to make a dinner with just they family, it was supposed to be yesterday, but your brother said he couldn’t come home on time, so it was canceled by your mother.

Tonight is supposed to be the dinner, but your twin is still out and haven’t come home yet. So you guess that it will be postpone again.

You can’t stay too long because of Tom’s schedule, and you didn’t want to have a dinner without Tom because it’s a family dinner, Tom is your husband so he’s a family too.

You were shocked at your brother entrance, it needs a minute to you to realize he is really talking to you.

You didn’t move an inch, and stay where you stand. His face is flushed, he looks like he is really angry at you, you still think he didn’t mad at you, because you were just looking at his drawer looking for a sock, you didn’t open an underwear drawer too, you open exactly a sock drawer because you know he has many, but still you really are confused.

“Andrew?”

“I said get out! Why are you still here?” Your eyes is now wet, you didn’t believe he did that to you. It just a sock.

“I just trying-” he cut you “GET OUT!”

You get out of his bedroom crying all the way to your bedroom, nobody saw you, after you arrived at your bedroom you throw yourself on the bed, you cover your face in the pillow crying. You still feel cold, but you don’t care you are angry, he just cruel. You just want a sock! A sock! It’s not like you steal from him or you tried to spying him or finding his porn magazine to tell their mom. Well, she doesn’t know if he ever had one.

You just confuse what did you do wrong? Breaking on someone’s bedroom it isn’t polite, but for twenty three years you live with him he never gets mad if you suddenly got into his room. What’s wrong with him now? And he’s home right now, which means the dinner is tonight, but you didn’t want to have a dinner with him, but it can’t be postponed again, can it?

You grab the cover and wrap it all over your body, it is so cold. Seems like your brother still mad, he doesn’t even chase her and tried to chase you.

Your parents and Tom is out buying food for tonight, you offer cooking with your mom, but she says she wants to buy something special so she declined that. Because you and Amdrew is the birthday girl and boy here so they don’t do anything, they just wait until their parents and Tom come back.

Your pillow is wet because you’re crying, the tears continued flowing as you covered your entire body with cover, nothing could be seen, all covered by the brown covers. Some of your hair is also damp, you can’t stop crying, is it too much to cried because your brother snapped at you? No it’s not because we’re twins we are supposed to understand one another’s feeling, but he just suddenly snapped, it hurts.

Just about when you thinking to tell Tom about cancelling the dinner, someone opened the door, you know it must be Tom. His hands sneaked around your hips and hug you while putting his head on the top of your head. He still can’t see you crying because he hasn’t opened the cover yet.

“Hm, you’re the only person I know who wasn’t used to England weather even though you life your entire life here” You don’t answer him, you don’t move, you just stay like that. “Warm enough?” Asked him, but you didn’t answer, you tried your best to stiffled a sob, but now you can’t. You sob until your shoulders shaking, you hiccuped for couple of times. “What’s wrong?”

Tom slowly lift the cover and found you were crying. He removed your tears with his hand, kissing your forehead then caressing your brown hair.

“What happened?” He asked once more, you still trying to hold your crying, and controls your breathing. “I was…….cold”

Tom looking at you attentively, waiting for your next words. “Then I search-” you cried once more, he tried to calm you down and somehow it worked. “I search for a socks”

“In Andrew’s room” you take a deep breath, then continue. “And he snapped at me told me to get out”

“You don’t know how it feels to get snapped by your twins” You continued crying and Tom still hugs you, your chest is hurt, he never act like that if he is in a bad mood or have a problem, it’s the first time you saw your twin like that.

“I’ll try to talk to him, alright?” Tom kissed you once more. “You should prepare yourself for the dinner”

“I just want to ask you to cancel the dinner”

“No, love. I’m sure he has a reason and he really wants to apologise to you” You huffed and cover your face once more. Tom still hugging you and kissing your covered neck. “Stop it”

“Tom!” He doesn’t stop, you can’t move because he still hugging you, you laugh and tell him to stop, but he didn’t. “Alright, you prepare for the dinner and I go talk to Andrew”

Tom knocks Andrew door, after he said ‘come in’ he opened the door. Andrew sighed and put his hands in the air. “I am extremely sorry, okay?”

“Well, tell that to your sister not me” Tom says while closing the door and walking through Andrew. He is sitting on the edge of his bed, looking really depressed. Andrew and Andrea is a twin, so of course they looked alike, both of them has a brown eyes and hair. With pale face, Andrew has a curly hair while Andrea has a wavy hair The difference is the height, Andrew is far more taller than Andrea, though not as tall as Tom.

“What happened? You have some problem? Or?”

“I am going to explain, listen to me carefully until the end, okay?” Tom just nodded. He thought he has to persuade him to explain about what happened.

“So, you know on the birthday party last week she gives me a present, but I didn’t” Tom nodded.

“And trust me I already have my present, but there’s something happened so I can’t give it to her on the birthday party, and until now I continue to postpone the dinner because the present it’s not arrived yet, but today it is and I put it on the drawer where she is looking for a socks”

“I was panicked when she opened it, so uhh you know”

“Still, you should explained it to her, I’m sure she will understand. You also have a present” Tom shrugged. “I thought you’re going to punch me”

“No, Andrea wasn’t going to like that” Tom laugh and he sits beside Andrew. “She said you never act like that before”

“Yeah, if we mad at each other we just don’t talk, that’s all” Andrew sighed, he is guilty for what he has done to his twin sister. “You should prepare for the dinner” Tom pat his shoulder and smile at him, then go out from the bathroom.

“

In your family’s birthday dinner, there won’t be fancy dresses, there only be a fancy food. Everyone just wearing their shirts, you only wear sweaters because it is cold with a pajama. Your father sits on your left side, Tom is beside you. In front of you is Andrew, and beside Andrew is your mother. You look anywhere but Andrew and talking like usual, but when Andrew talks you shut your mouth.

There are so many delicious foods, on the table there are everyone’s favourite food. Start from your favorite fish from the restaurant near the bridge until your mother’s favourite soup from the restaurant near Andrew’s boarding house. You continued talking while eating your food. You can feel Andrew eyes on you, but you ignored him.

“Now it’s time for the cake!” Your mom hold a cheesecake for both of you. You don’t feel like blowing candles when you are mad at him. He can sense your unwillingness too, so he started to talk to you. “I know you’re mad at me”

You are looking at Tom, he smiled encouraging you. “I am so sorry for that, you know on the birthday party last week I haven’t given you present, I already ordered it, but something happened, so I can’t give them last week, that’s why I keep postponing the dinner because The present wasn’t arrived yet, but today it is”

You are looking at your twin now, he looked really guilty. “An I hide it on the socks drawer so when you opened it I was so panicked”

“And I’m so sorry” he smiled at you, his eyes searching yours, search for forgiveness. “It’s okay” you said as you smiled at him.

“This is your present” he handed a small box to you, when you opened it, it’s a rose gold bracelet with leafs around it.

“It is a real diamond you better not lose it”

“Thank you!”

“I designed it myself so you won’t find anything like that, basically it’s a limited edition!” He says it proudly, you just laugh at your brother. “I’m thinking about giving you a necklace but you have one from Tom and if you wear two necklace that’s going to be weird, I want to give you a ring, but I don’t want to marry you, so I give you a bracelet”

You laughing at the marry part, you are so happy you’re finally make up with your twin brother. “Now, you both can blow job the candles”

“MOM!” You and your brother said in unison, Tom and your father laughed loudly, following by you, Andrew, and your mother. “Right, I mean blow out” You and Andrew blow the candles then eat the cake.

Andrew helped you putting the bracelet, it fits perfectly on your wrist. “I am going to borrow you ny sweater too tonight as a peace offering, but you already have one”

“No, actually I still accept your purple sweater” you always mocking him looking like a woman for wearing his purple sweater, actually he didn’t, but you just want to have his purple sweater because it’s cute.

“Ah, how about I borrow you my purple sweater?” You nodded eagerly. He smiled and you and your family continued eating while talking and joking.

You and Tom already get in to your room, Tom is in the bathroom and you already on the bed. Someone knocked your door, you said ‘come in’ it’s Andrew.

“Hi” he sits on the corner of the bed and give you his purple sweater.

“Thank you!”

Tom suddenly come out from the bathroom, you and Andrew looking at him. “Thank god you fully clothed!”

“Andrew!” You hit his shoulder as he laughed. “I was about to, what brings you here?”

Andrew made a disgusted face “I just borrow her my purple sweater”

“Give” you said.

“Alright give” you shocked and hug him instantly. “Thank you! Thank you!” Andrew hugs you back smiling, he would give everything to make his sister happy again. Tom hugs you from behind, so you’re sandwiched between Andrew and Tom. “I am here too you know”

The three of you laughing and stayed like that for a while. “This is so warm” you said and Tom let go of his hug. “Alright, I’m sorry to tell you this but get out Andrew” he pried Andrew hands of your waist.

“I need a time with my wife” Tom said and push Andrew through the door, Andrew muttered things about ‘horny old man’ and said goodnight to his sister.

You put the sweater in one of the drawer and lay your body on the bed. “I can see you’re happy” you nodded and hug Tom. “Of course I am”

“I miss you” Tom kisses you all over your face, you laughing. “I know where this is going”

“This is my parents house” you said as he keep kissing you, your forehead, eyes, cheek, and now your lips. “Andrew’s room is right beside me” he kissed you wrist where the bracelet is.

“I already asked him to sleep onthe guest room downstairs” you looked at him unbelievably. “You didn’t”

“I did”

“Tom” you covered your face, embarrassed. “Just don’t get too loud”

“It is you who usually get loud” Tom smirks as you slapped his shoulder.

Smaug

If there’s a quintessential dragon of modern fantasy, it has to be Smaug from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. The fire-breathing terror threatened Lake Town for generations, until Bilbo Baggins upset the status quo and inflamed the villain’s temper. Brought to life in Peter Jackson’s adaptation by CGI and the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch, the movie version of Smaug has all the gravitas and arrogance one might expect from a seemingly undefeatable old dragon. Thank goodness for Bard the Bowman.

Drogon (Game of Thrones)

In Game of Thrones, based on the books by George R. R. Martin, young bride Daenerys is given a gift of three dragon eggs on the occasion of her wedding. Anyone familiar with the series knows that, while much of Daenerys’s life does not go as planned (and is ruthlessly unhappy), her relationship with her dragons is central to her character. In the final season, two of the three dragons are killed (as is Daenerys), but Drogo survives.

Free of human control, the dragon, who previously brought down King’s Landing, killing thousands, seems to choose a path of less violence and escapes—but not until after he destroys the Throne of Swords. Say what you will about Season 8, melting down the symbol of the entire power struggle is epic.

The Fire Dragon from Muspelheim (Thor: Ragnarok)

Marvel is no stranger to dragons as part of the mythos, especially given that Iron Fist’s powers come from a dragon. But the MCU hasn’t yet featured too many, making the Fire Dragon of Muspelheim a worthy candidate for this list. In Thor: Ragnarok, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is playing at being captured by Surtur, only to interrogate the demon and lord of Muspelheim.

Unfortunately, when Thor defeats Surtur, he frees the Fire Dragon, who immediately pursues the God of Thunder in an epic chase. (The Fire Dragon’s defeat also provides a comedic introduction to Skurge, played by Karl Urban, who’s just trying to impress the ladies as he operates the Bifrost Bridge.)

The Dragons of Dungeons & Dragons

To be charitable, the 2000 movie Dungeons & Dragons was…not great. Though it featured Jeremy Irons and gave nods to the famous tabletop role playing game that loaned its name for the feature, the film itself has a reputation for being a poor adaptation of the spirit of the game.

But filmmakers keep trying! The henchman of Jeremy Irons’s evil wizard returned for a made-for-TV film five years later (Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God), another TV movie followed in 2012 (Dungeons & Dragons: The Book of Vile Darkness), and a total reboot set for 2023. The last has some really encouraging names on the cast list—including Chris Pine, Hugh Grant, Jason Wong, and Michelle Rodriguez—so there’s hope that this new edition will live up to the spirit of the game.

Either way, no list of dragons would be complete without at least a nod to the famous RPG that has spawned so many tabletop dragon adventures.

Goodboy (The Watch)

While the 2021 BBC America series The Watch received mixed reviews, the character of Goodboy, the tiny dragon who becomes pivotal to the success of the heroes in staving off a much larger dragon’s attacks, is a highlight of special effects. Though Goodboy spends most of the series in a dragon carrier, it’s the small draconic character who hints at the eventual solution to the problems of the first season. He also represents some of the best special effects in the entire series. (Goodboy comes from the Terry Pratchett novel, Guards, Guards, Guards in which he earns the nickname Erroll.)

Vermithrax Perjorative (Dragonslayer)

Some dragons you love to hate, and the antagonist for the 1981 fantasy film Dragonslayer has a classic villain dragon, an androgynous creature named Vermithrax Pejorative who likes to eat virgins. Dragonslayer came about because the filmmakers wanted to compete with the special effects of recently popular SF films (like, say, Star Wars) by swapping genres and creating something so large and fantastic at the center of the movie, audiences would be impressed.

Building the Vermithrax Pejorative for the film took 25% of the special effects budget—but the dragon (defeated by a wizard’s apprentice in order to save the princess who was next in the lottery to get eaten) influenced future filmmakers and fantasists, including Guillermo del Toro, George R. R. Martin, and sculptor Bill Basso who helped design…

The Dragons of Reign of Fire

This 2002 adventure film featured Matthew McConaughey as Van Zan, a dragonslayer in a post-apocalyptic world where dragons have decided they don’t like sharing the planet with humans. Van Zan is after the last bull dragon, believing he can wipe out the species and keep dragons from reproducing by slaying the last male, therefore rescuing humanity.

Most of the drama in the film is between humans (particularly McConaughey and Christian Bale, who plays the leader of a group of refugees near where the last bull dragon is thought to live), but the spectacle of fights between humans and dragons gives the film plenty of action—and gives dragons a whole new non-fantasy world to rule (and destroy).

Honorable Mention: The Dragons of Dragon Age: Inquisition

Some of the best dragons are the ones you’d want to be friends with. Others are the type that need to be destroyed. It can be really satisfying to take on the role of dragon slayer yourself, and that’s one of the highlights of Bioware’s Dragon Age: Inquisition. The first time players spot a dragon in the series, it’s a moment of awe… subsequently followed by a fireball when the dragon notices the characters. But as the Inquisitor gains levels, taking on these creatures becomes an exciting challenge, and gamers can earn the Dragon Slayer achievement by defeating them all.

The animation and the mechanics of defeating each one are different, and make for an awesome challenge for gamers (who will look forward to more dragon slaying action in the forthcoming Dragon Age 4).
