I’m not very old (30+) but I get so emotional and warm when I realize how many more queer stories there are for me. The world feels so brutal sometimes and so hateful. There’s still so far to go. But like. When I was a teenager, I really fucking hoped things would be better, and they are. It’s not enough, but. Do you know how amazing that is?? My teenage heart and my now-heart are so warm.

Juliana enrolled in computer science

We finally got a family dynamic with her mother and it seems they are pretty close. She decided to keep living at the house instead of mocing to the campus.

With so many scolarships she got offered, her semester was fully paid for and she even got money in return. Her only requirement was to keep her good grades and join the school's soccer team.

I swear all the sims in this household are so smart. Juliana probably should've graduated early too. She is too focused on her degree for any relationships but I'm hoping her soulmate is somewhere in the campus. Her teen aspiration was goal achiver and I didn't managed to finish it on this save. The cheat wasn't working either. Her limetime aspiration is academic so we are spending too much time with her at uni.

I’m 30+ years old, and this is one of the hardest lessons I’ve ever had to learn, and this is the first time I’ve seen it written in a way that makes sense.

My pain has been dismissed and downplayed my whole life, and I’ve had a tremendous amount and severity of it (from undiagnosed physical and mental disabilities).

My family has always made fun of me for being so emotional; for being a rollercoaster of emotions. Up and down so dramatically. So I stopped feeling better because then it meant my pain was “fake” or that I was just exaggerating it for attention. I stopped feeling good because I couldn’t stop feeling bad, and I had to pick one.

And then it became about punishing myself: I’m not good enough to shower. I don’t deserve to eat. I’m not allowed to have comfort. I’m worthless, so I don’t get to feel good.

I’d like to say right now that I believe me, and I believe you. Your pain and suffering is valid and awful. You still deserve to eat a sandwich. You still deserve your favourite shirt. You still deserve a shower. You still deserve a hug from a friend. You deserve to feel wonderful when you feel terrible. Think of it like provisions for the journey ahead: you’re just stopping for lunch on the side of the road under the shade of a tree. You can go back to defeating monsters after some bread and cheese and music.

Here’s the thing. Practical self-care, such as showering, feeding yourself, talking a walk, cleaning your space, getting rest, ect. will not solve every problem you have. Especially the big, serious ones. But it will solve a ton of smaller problems that are building up, adding to your stress, and using the energy you need to cope with those big serious problems.

You can feel as awful as you want, just eat a sandwich first.

White supremacy, Christianity, and capitalism have brainwashed most of us to believe that suffering is required and moral, because these systems can’t have power over us without our suffering and our guilt.

People will always tell you that life is hard, that that’s just the way it is, or that this is just normal. Normal ≠ inescapable. Normal ≠ good. There’s always a better way; the systems that oppress us just don’t want us to believe that.

re neuroqueer i had a long conversation w my lil sis's girlfriend and one of the things we talked abt is like this idea of ritualized suffering: that everybody just needs to suck it up and deal with the miserable loud noise the miserable gendered behavior the miserable sexual prospects the miserable ritualized fear of others the miserable task performed in the miserable fashion because it is the normal and right thing to do, and doing the ritualized suffering proves you are a good and worthy person.

and like a lot of neuroqueerness and a lot of growth and learning outside of allistic, cis, or heterosexual boundaries is about embracing freedom from suffering and intentional kindness and joy for yourself. and thats like a massive part of why you get pushback against neurodivergent, gender nonconforming, or non-hetero behavior and ideas: nonono you dont understand we Have to do the ritualized suffering, we Must, how come you get to escape it, what do you mean this pillar of my rightness is actually very arbitrary and i did not need to suffer the way that i suffered?

like a lot of the time people who did an awful lot of ritualized suffering and stake their identity on what they won by doing that suffering will absolutely lose their shit and the world falls out from under them when they see people avoiding that suffering and being happy, and especially when those people avoid instant and dire heavenly consequences for their decadence.
