Uhhhh. Sometimes! The comforters have to be layered JUST SO so that I create the exact right dimensions of blanket burrito when I go to bed at night and the pillows have to be in certain places, but sometimes if it was Just So Great, I will admit to rolling myself out of bed and just, keeping it like that lol.

I wish I could say that I'm very attached to a particular one in specific, but I think typically I like 8 and 6, because they're considered nice numbers... also I think a half dozen mini cupcakes is a very enticing offer lol.

I am a plant biologist!

Haha, I'm still in school. I'll probably be in school forever because I'm leaning towards going into academia. One day I'll be Dr. Tav or something! It'll be fun!

Lime Green: Your favourite kind of scene to write

Oh man. I love slice of life one-shots. Although I try and try and try to write a larger, longer overarching story, the truth is, I take the greatest pleasure in doing short 1,500-5,000 word scenes in which the characters enjoy a small adventure, go on a date, have a fight, make love, or some other little slice out of their day that I can explore in detail.

Strawberry Pink: Ship trope you have in your book

Well, depends on which one.

In my fanfic, my obvious ship trope is 'good girl falls for bad boy, bad boy falls for good girl, they end up happily ever after'. You can't tell me Thancred isn't the quintissential bad boy - the rake, the rogue, the liar. Yes, he has a good core and is a hero, but he's also kind of a dick with women to begin with. And while it's not Kali's intention to "redeem" him - it is the end result of their relationship.

In my book, the obvious ship trope is 'fated lovers' - although I should stress that the lovers part is not fated, only the fact that they share a life-long, soul-deep bond, one that trancends lifetimes. This bond has presented itself as a sibling bond, a friend bond, a lover bond, and even, occasionally, a frenemy bond. So the bond itself isn't what makes the characters lovers - that's all sheer animal attraction turned mutual respect. But the soulbond makes it easier for them to actually fall in love with each other.

Daffodil Yellow: Does worldbuilding come easily to you?

Good gods, no. Now, my fanfic has it a little easier, since someone else took on all the effort of building the world from the ground up, but I do occasionally have to branch off into headcanon and speculation because there isn't enough lore to support the world my characters are walking through. (For instance, the sheer amounts of Chiss lore I had to extrapolate or create wholecloth because there is virtually none).

But my book? Building that world is a constant WIP and I'm always second-guessing myself, trying to decide if an idea is too close to a trope, too over-done, accidentally plagiarized, or too obscure or obtuse for the average reader to appreciate or enjoy (I'm not saying people are dumb, I'm saying some worldbuilds are just... stupidly overcomplicated). I'm always changing things, editing things, changing them back - I wish it was easy.

But I suppose it never really is.

Pitch-black, the coins and stones thrown into it had returned no sound. The light shone down it from torches disappeared into the blackness that sent shivers down her spine while the little girl behind her clung to her mother, Nino. Ed and the elders looked grim. The line of jingling bridles over turkey-red paint, and the weary, solemn faces of the men that rode the horses parted. Out came the villagemen carrying a plain white sheep, bound with rope not at the ankles, but across its body like a makeshift harness with a borrowed silver belt.

‘  A year ago,  ‘  Ed said they had found the hole.

The men lowered the animal with thousands of feet of rope. Thousands became tens of thousands, and still they felt no bottom. So they tied the ropes to the one of many boulders scattered around, and went on the next bout of watching and praying quietly.

The next day, they raised the rope with horses. The elders were smoking big, black cigars. But a different smell seemed to waft up from the hole, almost delicious.  The sheep was dead. It looked boiled, or braised, covered head to toe in its skin with its wool fallen off. Its muscles were lean, but surprisingly its belly bulged out, more than it should. Sweetwater pulled her in. After peering up and looking around at the others, he unsheathed his knife and made a long incision, a careful slit across its belly till the roundness of his arms became caked with dried and partly solidified blood – the kind they’d chop into square pieces to eat. He pulled out a lamb by its loosely dangling legs it had, cradling its soft, fragile body and neck. Its mouth openly gasped in air.

He sheared the umbilical cord off. 

Yellow-white with a red tinge of blood over it, the lamb was barely alive. And all over its sickly slick surface were the mounds across its body: tumours, with its womb-blood beginning to pool between them in the large zig-zag lightning grooves. All around them rose a sickly smell. An undescribable stench.

Lorraine startles. Her palm flattens, not on grass, not in the sun or hot wind, not in the rain but under building shade on soft cotton blankets of the bed she sits up in. She listens to the thumping of her own heart clambering – not in relief…  

She reflects drowsily, in the slow swell of birds chirping, the sun glaring through the curtains. The faint sound of a train whistle passes, just like the sounds of Mississippi. And the light from the sun drives in in sheets, basking the floor and bed in a yellow glow. She looks around the hospital room, surrounded by light lime green wallpaper, knowing its only standing screen once she laid eyes on it, that its patients were destined to shiver in the black night, looking down at the pair of feet peeping from under, and up at nothing.

There it is, she begins to realise, what she wanted—tangibly before her a man, unlike the fairy world of a vision’s pantomime.

When she opens her mouth, no sound emerges. Her tongue feels as dry as sandpaper. Her head, slow, rolls away from its horrible place, forward to catch up with words.

So a hobby of mine is introducing GPT-3 to online meme games that didn’t exist when its internet training data was being collected (the training data is currently only up till October 2019). It’s worked out well - without knowledge of the coronavirus pandemic, GPT-3 was able to do a reasonable job generating quarantine houses.

With vaccination underway but caseloads still high in many places, a new cautionary meme has emerged, for example:

So I collected a few of my favorites as examples for GPT-3 to add to. I started with the largest model, DaVinci, which has the highest chance of being able to catch on to the format. I have for you a few of its PSAs:

Being vaccinated does NOT mean you can hang out with bears and wolves and elk and eagles in their weird southern California forest hell. If for some reason you do this type of thing, you definitely can't ride the raptors into battle or utilize their extremely keen eyesight. Not from that particular vaccine.

Being vaccinated does NOT mean you have to rub vanilla crème all over your body and change your species, but it wouldn't be the worst idea, if you’re considering it.

DaVinci’s references work on the surface level only, but upon closer inspection they’re more like references to stories in alternate universes.

I also tried this with the smallest GPT-3 model, Ada, whose idea of a pickup line was “2017 Rugboat 2-tone Neck Tie Shirt”. It has the following cautionary advice:

Why Each MCC 20 Team Deserves to Win

Red Rabbits: Niki first win? also they are super underdogs since sapnap dropped out

Orange Ocelots: Purpled and Elaina can go through their main character arc. Like imagine if they won on their first tournament cuz that would be the first time two newbies have won since like MCC 6. 

Yellow Yaks: big fan of hermits winning also i really like the illumina and sb duo. walmart mcc 9 blue bats lets go.

Look I Made A Thing ... My Academia Aesthetic Favs

I was just playing around and procrastinating, so I decide to create this silly little share-a-majig about my connection to academia aesthetics.

See, I am still a fan of the academia aesthetics, despite a lot of people criticizing them. So I thought I'd share some of my favorite things and traits that I associate with my 4 favorite variations on the aesthetic: Dark, Light, Chaotic and Art.

Some of my favorites are very much "on brand" for academia, but I also wanted to share treasures that I think are very much a part of the aesthetic but rarely get mentioned in memes. And maybe others will see that the aesthetics aren't static, but can be shaped to your own personality and perspective.
