*MOTHERFUCKER* *door slam*
OooooooOOOoo! Look a reference being made from a different piece of media! The horror!!!/obvious sarcasm (tone indicator meant for the lorch goslings)
So what if avatar made a reference? It’s not like they’re the only animated piece that’s referenced that exact scene!
Ok it’s time for another lesson from gobbo about art to educate yall who drink from lilys filthy toxic pond (forgive my spiciness today but it’s validated for this!)
So
What are Easter eggs?
The term that dates back to where else but the 1970s! Arguably the first Easter egg began in a little occult classic that seems to be heavily scrutinized by puritans old and young to this day, the one the only…
Rocky Horror Picture Show!
Yes, what was the egg? Oh a Starbucks cup that was left in the background during filming.
Underwhelming I’m sure but from there there have been more nuanced Easter eggs found in countless films, shows, games and more!
There’s so many unique eggs to reference- oh there’s a word:
Reference
Seems like a prominent word here huh?
Of course with art no matter the medium it may take it all starts with the most important tool we are all born with
Eyes, peepers, lenses, optic orbs!
When we make something we are more often than we are able to subconsciously realize, are pulling from something as a reference.
Reference helps inspire, motivate, and fuel our process to making our craft!
From the implications made in Lily orchards post here we can tell that she is insinuating a form of malicious intent in the purpose. With her track record of painting over positives of a varying values of grey, in other words:
“Clearly atla is unoriginal in its ending see!”
But not to make myself an ass with my analsysis, I can’t be too harsh with my lack of context.
Surely there have been other films that have referenced this scene right?
I mean there’s plenty of things that reference other things in film!
It’s not like there’s a single sequence from a thirty year old movie that’s been made reference to in just about every animated film and show since it first made debuts on the silver screen right?
Right?
“Nope (2023)”
Surely a media reviewer and writer would know all too well about this sorta concept, right?
