Which character that you didn't know were you most intrigued by the submission of? And which first round poll are you watching most excitedly?

wow, there's a lot. like the last tourney here, i'm going to try to get into whatever thing the character that wins is in. (last time I had already watched Utena by the end of the tourney, so I have been making one of my friends watch it (she likes it & likes Nanami))

so these are the characters that I don't know that I am intrigued by: Vash the Stampede - I have heard of Trigun but I don't know what it's about Lewis Smith - at first, I did not care but all the propaganda in the notes has made me Collete Brunel - same thing Macrophage - what a silly premise for a show Emil Västerström - the art is really beautiful I also am interested in getting into Dungeon Meshi and Pale, but I have heard of those characters before and know a bit more about them. As for which poll I am most excited for? It's hard to say. The ones that are fun for me are the ones that get a lot of propaganda and are really close in votes. So of the ones that are already released, the two I have been watching most closely are: -#14 Miyuki Shirogane vs. Tsumugi Takanashi -#20 Lillie vs. Arashi Narukami As for the ones that aren't out yet, I'm honestly more nervous that my matchups are balanced than excited! Because there are still a lot of very popular characters and it's always the hardest to match those ones up. I think poll #50 is just a really dumb matchup like the characters are not really congruent at all so I guess we'll see if that is funny or a disaster. Also excited for/enjoying polls which have fandoms that I had good interactions with in the last tourney -- my top two of those being enstars and wormblr.

I'm also excited for the ones that have my own blorbos that I submitted in them that nobody else did :) some of them are quite obscure and others of them i think will be/are doing well so yay.

This was such a cute and cozy little home!

I really love the layout you have going on with the diagonal walls! It adds an interesting look to it while making the space feel more open. I also love the personality that was put into every nook with all the knickknacks! You can really tell a lot about someone through those kinds of things!

Hope you don't mind Eros munching a bit of the bread you had out. At least it's not Estinien. :3c

I also took a visit to your husband's place, and goodness, that covered painting at the top of the stairway hit me like a bus.

That said, this home is so vibrantly colored and the decor is very nice! It has a lot of charm! I especially love the window upstairs, it was so well-made!

Also, I may have had a peek behind the bookshelves downstairs. I have questions, but I don't know if I want the answers. xD

Ough, this place was SO cute! I absolutely adore what you did with the layout, both with the raised floor upstairs and the bottom of the stairway (I might just have to try that in Ki'to's next house layout!)

Overall, very pretty, pink, and floral! Definitely worth a visit! Honestly, I can't believe I'm the first to hit up the message book!

From the beautiful yard to the stunning interior, it is a very cozy, relaxing little Shirogane getaway! I'm also in love with how the downstairs is set up! The pillar tables are such a fun and unique idea, and being able to enjoy an onsen and a show? This FC has it all. :3c

I also took a walk around all the rooms, and I must say, that FC has some amazing interior designers! It was such a treat to look through them all! <3

What a cute little apartment! I adore the overgrown look to it, there's so much life!

Fantastic choice of BGM as well, it really brought the whole space to life. As if you were wandering around the home of an alchemist, busy at work preparing herbs and other ingredients in the next room.

Another beautiful interior by @entropytea. Your layouts are always absolutely stunning.

This one in particular was so tranquil, and I adored the entryway being turned into a nighttime patio! It was such a lovely use of the space, and made for a great spot to pose!

The rest of the house gave me the vibes of stepping into a ryokan or old Japanese home, and was so peaceful to walk through.

Hey!! Ward neighbors!! Ki'to's place is in the subdivision!

What a vibrant little library you have here! So very colorful and bright! There's a plethora of books, plenty of nooks to read them in, and it gives off a very well-traveled vibe with all the different cultures being mashed up!

Also, I would have left a like in the message book, but I'm not breaking the 69. xD

This apartment was stunning! Cyrenne is a classy lady indeed to be living in such a place!

The low lighting and BGM combo really give it a classy, enchanting feel. I adore how you decorated the space, down to the board over the tub with a wine glass and book. She sure knows how to enjoy her baths!

The balcony area at the back was also an instant fave. Very cleverly done!

And, last but certainly not least, the last of the apartments!

This was such a curious workshop! Needless to say, all the allagan nodes had Eros intrigued after Raha's many rambles.

It's very well-decorated, and has a lot of personality! You can certainly tell the owner has an interest in allagan technology! I wonder what all the nodes are programmed for!

You never disappoint, Crystal, and I love you for it. I was able to go through some stunning homes today!

Also, in case anyone might be wondering 'Orion, why do you only take one picture at obscure angles in each place?' I do so so that you have a reason to come visit yourself! The picture and description are supposed to give you but a taste of what each house is like. It's up to you to come see the rest for yourself!

This house's layout was stunning! Despite it being a small, the use of lofts and partitions made the space seem so much larger!

Not to mention, it's all very beautifully furnished! It looked like I was walking into a designer home! Also, very big fan of the gazebo leading into the house. What a clever use of it!

The apartment was similarly gorgeous. The layout is beyond amazing, and really makes you feel like you're stepping into some sort of woodland hut that maybe you should not have. Cozy, but a little ominous at the same time!

What a lovely FC hall! Very spacious, but at the same time very cozy!

I love all the facilities and how thoughtfully they cater to the company's residents. Even down to the little dressing room leading to the stage downstairs. Very cute.

I also had a toot around the rooms that were open, and I must say, there are a lot of pretty, creative rooms in there! Each one had its own distinct personality, and I loved looking through them all. <3

All I have to say is wow

The interior of this house is so well-done, every nook and cranny is filled with decor that really brings the whole thing together! Along with the BGM, you'd think you were walking into an Ishgardian manor, not a seaside cottage!

I was NOT expecting to be invited to an in-game pizzeria of all things! That said, it was VERY cute!!

It really does give off hometown pizzeria vibes, from the brick interior to the wrought iron-backed chairs. It's extremely charming, and I will definitely be coming back sometime.

But before I left, I had to give my husbuns a little dinner date. <3

HIGHLY recommend everyone to visit at some point! It's a very fun little place! And it even has an arcade!

Just mind the mascots. We've seen too many horror games to trust them...

First off, hello hello! Nice to see you as I rolled through! <3

You made such good use of the space and slots provided in a large! It's hard to do effectively without blocking off a good chunk of it, but it looks very nice! Spacious, but in a cozy way!

I loved how you decorated each space inside, though the warm, cozy study was my favorite.

My second favorite though, was the basement. The floral walls leading to the tables was very nice, and the walls would be a beautiful space to gpose if you need a patterned backdrop.

Overall, very beautiful home! I would highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area!

Another cute FC hall!

I love the look of the cafe downstairs! It's bright and open while still feeling communal and cozy. I could see myself whiling away the time with a good book and a cup of tea down there.

Very clever with the bookshelf upstairs btw! It's a nice way to make the place cohesive while still giving everyone a little hideaway to their rooms!

Speaking of; both of the rooms are nice! The second room having only the bath is amusing, but I also totally get it. Sometimes you just need a hot bath and no thoughts. xD

I only had time to get to so many today, unfortunately, but I plan on getting the rest of Crystal and Primal done tomorrow!

Thank you all for allowing me into your beautiful homes so far! I can't wait to visit the rest!

I tend to always migrate back to what I will always call home. I've rested in various places, with friends and those I would call family, in every conceivable nook and cranny of our star and beyond, but there's nothing that soothes the ache and heals wounds better than the comforts and scents of the familiar.

I've moved my original lodgings from The Mist to Lilly Hills, where I now consider my first and foremost choice of residence.

I also have room and board in my Free Company's small cottage in Shirogane, which I also consider a home away from home.

Both are free to visit, should you desire.

Also, I'm in the market of a cottage of my own, though I haven't quite yet decided where...

Mega’s 2019 Top Anime List

Another year of anime has come and gone. This year I ended up watching a lot less due to the over saturation of Isekai and light novel anime, but there was still plenty to enjoy. As usual I consider any show that ended this year as a contender to be on my list. This is simply my opinion and there will be spoilers below.

1) Pokemon Sun & Moon

Starting this list with a show I watched for 3 years, Pokemon Sun and Moon was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with the Pokemon anime. It took the best aspects of XY and added loose animation to the mix. Ash and friends have never had so much personality as each episode brought the characters to life in new ways with funny facial expressions. As an adaptation of the game, Pokemon SM did better in some areas compared to others. The trials were simplified or restructured to account for Ash’s classmates being trial captains in the game. While the Kahuna battles were spaced out very far apart in the anime. I always thought it was strange that in-between major story battles, Ash barely ever thought about the challenges.

The two major story highlights of the anime are Lusamine’s arc and the Pokemon League. Lusamine’s story was the main plot of SM and it played out almost exactly like the game. Her downfall to her Ultra Beasts obsession and then Lillie knocking some sense back into her mom is still an emotional highlight of the series. In any Pokemon anime, the Pokemon League is what brings meaning to Ash’s entire journey through the region. SM’s league is similar to the game where it’s the first league of the region. The rival pairings and matches were completely predictable, but it ended with two big surprises. First, Ash was actually allowed to win for once (matching your character becoming the first champion in the game), and secondly he had a full 6 v 6 match with Kukui. It spanned 3.5 episodes with Ash’s Litten completing its character arc by reaching its final form during the battle. It was a rare match where both parties are battling it out for fun and it ended with a flashy finale of two hype Z-moves. Pokemon SM will be remembered for its simplicity, yet ambitious approach in always showing something new week after week.

2) Mob Psycho 100 Season 2

Mob-Psycho continues where it left off in season 1. The main protagonists have come away from a battle with Claw and now daily life resumes. This season featured a love story, Reigen’s arc, deeper exploration into psychic powers, and the return of Claw. Just like in season 1, Mob continues to excel in two major areas. First is of course the animation. An average episode of Mob is literally that one stand-out episode of a one cour anime. Psychic power usage is often a reflection of emotions and they are animated in different ways depending on the characters thoughts in a particular scene. There were so many highlights this season that it would be impossible to list them all.

Mob’s second strength is the character writing. In season 1 Mob was a boy struggling to create his own identity. This season Mob actively tries to break out of his shell and become his own unique person. We see this through his efforts with the fitness club, again when he separates from Regien, and again as he shows everyone that having psychic powers is no substitute for personal growth or status. Mob is no longer a timid boy like he was at the start of the series. He can now stand on his own two feet and help others who are struggling to get up. Considering there is still a little more manga left to cover, I can only hope it gets one last season to finish out the story.

3) Kaguya-Sama: Love is War

In order to understand the appeal of Kaguya-Sama, just for a second imagine if Death Note was a romantic comedy. Both of the protagonists are locked into a battle of wits to outsmart the other in the events of daily life. The mere act of choosing a vacation spot, going somewhere, or giving an item to each other suddenly becomes a high stakes duel. Kaguya-sama follows Kaguya herself and Shirogane as they try to avoid being the first to admit their love for each other. The side characters only help to add wildcards to each battle such as Chika being able to change the tide of battle with a single phrase.

I enjoyed seeing how absurd each battle would become week after week. The presentation is simple, yet very effective in this anime. Resources were definitely allocated for use in certain places for maximum impact. The voice acting also helped a ton in selling just how important each battle was in the minds of the characters. Overall, the series knows how to play with your expectations. Some battles turn out as expected, some with a twist, and others end on some kind of middle ground. However, each battle brings them a little closer together. I can’t wait for the next season in April.

4) Run with the Wind

Almost all sports anime revolve around high school students trying to become as good as possible and win nationals before the 3rd years graduate. However, Run with the Wind takes a different approach to this formula. It focuses on a group of college students who, at the start at least, would rather do anything else than run. It takes about half of the show before our group of characters even get on the same page about running. I enjoyed how this anime put us into the heads of each character. Some have personal reasons for not wanting to run, while for others it was something trivial. However, by committing themselves to the team they each gained a new outlook on themselves and those around them. It was quite literally an uphill for the team to reach the level of success they got at the end. The final run brilliantly showed how each character learned from the experience and how the time they spent on the team was a positive life changing moment. Run with the Wind shows that it's never too late to try something new.

5) JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Golden Wind

Jojo is back on the list after an extended break between parts 4 and 5. Compared to previous stories, Part 5 is most similar to part 3. There is a quest to clear and it involves the main group traveling across the land and defeating enemy stand users each step of the way. The differences between part 5 and its previous stories becoming apparent right away. First off, the protagonist is not a traditional Joestar. He is the son of Dio born from when he had Jonathan’s body. Secondly, the group of main characters are not exactly good guys. As mafia members they display a sense of unity, but lack the high integrity of previous Jojo characters. A connection they all share is being looked down upon in society, but placing a place in the world through Bucciarati’s squad.

The aspect that makes or breaks a JoJo story for me is usually the villain. I consider Diavolo to be the weakest of any villain across the various JoJo stories. During the early arcs of the story, Diavolo comes off as an interesting character. He has a mysterious personality and will clearly stop at nothing to keep his identity hidden, including killing his own daughter. The series then adds layer of complexity when we meet his alter ego Doppio. The two personalities are clearly distinctive, but the line between which one is charge can be murky. However, his character intrigue quickly comes crashing down as the final arc fully brings Diavolo into the limelight. The story comes down to who can control the stand arrow, which is a sharp contrast to previous villains who drove the final arc on the back of their eccentric personalities. While JoJo part 5 is still a good anime, it will always come near the bottom of my favorite JoJo parts.

The Year of High Profile Weekly Shonen Jump Anime Adaptations

As the 2016-17 hits from Weekly Shonen Jump have aged up, all of their anime dropped in succession this year. I am a huge fan of the magazine, so here’s a section with some quick thoughts of their anime.

The Promise Neverland - The anime changed the escape arc from a mental battle to a horror series. While animation is definitely better suited to playing with the idea of show don’t tell, the result ended up being telling the story through a different lens. While I appreciated the idea, I feel it came up short. The loss of Posuka Demizu’s art was another major blow to the mood they were trying to create.

Kimetsu no Yaiba - When the manga first began, I never imagined it would become a 1+ Million seller. Ufotable brought their top class digital effects to a manga that at a quick glance would make anyone think it would be the last series to get such treatment. The anime brought a lot to the table and greatly helped to bring the manga to life. It was a great experience from start to finish (episode 19 is a major highlight of the year). I’m looking forward to the upcoming film.

Dr. Stone - Compared to the other Jump anime this year, Dr. Stone’s animation and presentation stuck very close to the manga (if not even inferior to Boichi’s creative spreads at times). The aspect that sold this anime best was the voice cast. They brought so much life into the characters and conveyed the passion each one has for science and learning. I enjoyed seeing Senku create his inventions in animated form.

Bokuben - This might not exactly be considered “high-profile”, but I can’t help but find myself impressed by the anime week after week. It adds a few touches here and there to better tell a cohesive story and occasionally adds a scene or two. I appreciated the heart the anime brought to the series through the seiyuu. Introducing a new seiyuu unit from the cast was also a nice bonus as well.

Best OP/EDs of the year:

1) One Piece Opening 22 - The One Piece anime has changed dramatically under Tatsuya Nagamine. This opening is fast paced and filled with future story teases. It changes the format by cutting the op run time down to 2 minutes and includes clips of the episode. The final sequence of Luffy vs. Kaido always gets me hyped each to watch the episode each week. 

2) Mob Psycho II Opening - This opening feels like a natural continuation of the first season opening. It once again showcases how the show is full of creative animation and unusual characters.

3) Mix Opening 1- Mitsuru Adachi is known for his nuanced writing of giving characters the space to convey their thoughts. This opening fully shows these traits through its sequence of character shots that feel like a natural usage of his writing style. 

4) Kaguya-Sama Chika Ending - Cute song and amazing choreography. There’s a clear reason why this swept across the internet last winter

5) JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 5 Opening 2 - Not only is Traitor’s Requiem a very cool name for a song for this part of the story, but the plot teases are perfectly timed in the song. The opening animation also kept on giving with the villain version and Giorno later recapturing the opening.

The Moments We Share - Part I

Shiro hadn't even noticed it at first, stumbling out of his tent to make his way over to where they had built the larger, covered kitchen area, blearily blinking into the morning sun that was barely just rising above the treetops of the forest near the open meadow where they'd set up camp. Between playing games with his fellow counsellors late into the night and then supervising the vigil at the campfire during his shift he'd barely gotten two hours of sleep. So it wasn't really his fault when he didn't notice anything wrong this morning. At least not until one of the younger girls crawled out of her tent and let out a piercing screech.

"Shiro!", Lilly cried out, tripping over toward the kitchen and almost falling over her untied shoelaces. "Shiro, our banner!"

His still tiredly blinking eyes followed her small but insistently pointing finger over to the flagpole they had erected on the first day of camp, the flagpole that was supposed to fly their banner but that was noticeably naked this morning, except for the tiny rainbow flag Shiro had pinned up there as well. Being the chief had its perks, after all.

"Oh..." He was barely able to bite back the curse that was at the tip of his tongue and turn it into a lame "dang" instead. Before his tired mind could make out the next steps there was another kid crawling out of their tent, a little older than Lilly but just as fast to notice there was something wrong.

"The banner's gone!", Kim cried out and pat the roof of their group’s tent vigorously with the hand that wasn't pulling on their shoes at the moment. "Guys, they got our banner!"

There was a muffled but still horrified "what?" coming from inside and a few moments later the camp was swarming with a whole bunch of half haphazardly dressed kids in various stages of distress or excitement.

Sighing quietly Shiro kissed his chances to sneak in a quiet cup of coffee before the day started goodbye and started his job of wrangling children.

Before he could even try and talk them down, some kids already swearing revenge on whoever had robbed them of their beloved banner, others accusing each other of falling asleep during their turn at the vigil, he heard the familiar voice of one of his co-counsellors. Apparently having been woken earlier than usual from all of the ruckus going on outside of his tent Keith emerged from between the kids, still rumpled but eyes sharp.

"I think we all know who it was", came the low grumble directed at Shiro who couldn't even disagree. There was only one other group close enough to make it over to their campsite for a nightly robbery and considering they always had some kind of rivalry with Saint Andreas it wasn't a hard guess at all. At least their rivalry was friendly, most of the time.

"There's a letter!", one of the kids called, running over to the flagpole to rip off the envelope that was pinned there surprisingly securely. Shiro really should not have left his glasses back in his tent thinking he wouldn't need them to make breakfast. When the kid, Riley, handed him the envelope he did have trouble squinting down at the elegantly curved letters.

To Chief Shirogane

But even through the slight blur that was part sleep deprivation and part near sightedness he recognized the handwriting. Maybe that alone should not have sent an excited shiver down his spine but it did, even though Shiro would never admit it to anyone, least of all Keith who was sidling up close to him to look over his shoulder as Shiro pulled out the letter stuffed inside and started reading it out loud.

"What's up losers", he called out, conveniently skipping the second line of address, the way too personal "(and hey there, handsome)" that made him stutter as his eyes skimmed the line. "I'm not about to say any names but someone got very distracted by scary stories during their night shift and we couldn't ignore that opportunity now, could we? Maybe next time make your banner a bit harder to reach, just a friendly suggestion. Anyway, if you want to see it alive - and I know you do because you just love your traditions - meet us down by the lake at noon. Bring swimming gear and some snacks, our challenges are going to be plenty. See you soon!"

There was another line scrawled below that was, again, supposed to be for Shiro's eyes only. A hastily scribbled addition that read "looking forward to seeing you in swimming trunks, handsome" that made Shiro suck in a stuttering breath. But he couldn't dwell on it for too long when the kids gathered around him erupted in excited chatter and passionate war cries.
