Beach Bunny est un projet indie formé à Chicago en 2015 par Lili Trifilio, rejoins à partir de 2017 par d'autre musiciens pour formé un groupe dynamique au sonorité fraiche et ensoleillé. Forts de deux albums dont le dernier Emotional Creature est sorti en 2022, leur musique à un côté estival avec des mélodie simple mais très efficace qui accompagne à merveille la voix de la chanteuse et ses parole qui parlent d'estime de soi (or lack thereof) et de relations.

Personnellement c'est un groupe qui me donne un bol d'air et qui me donne envie de fermer les yeux et de profiter de l'instant présent.

Beach Bunny’s first EP as a band is overlooked by their more popular songs. You may have heard Lili Trifilio’s voice in viral songs like “Cloud 9” and “Prom Queen”, but her least recognizable yet most notable performances exist in the “Crybaby” EP. Originating in Chicago, Illinois, Beach Bunny is a modern indie surf rock band that will blow you away.

Released in 2017, their song Boys creates the perfect soundtrack for heartbreak, where Lili sings of emotions that you’ve felt, but couldn’t find the words for. Starting with the slightly whirly surf-pop guitar we’re used to in the band’s songs, it immediately feels familiar. Lili begins singing, and it’s seemingly a slower song, but quickly turns into a more alt-rock feel, with a stronger guitar and drums. Slowly, the chorus builds up and we get to be a lucky witness to Lili’s insane vocal range, singing some of the most relatable lyrics that ever graced our ears. “Boys will be boys / But you’re not like the other ones / What will I do without you / When tomorrow comes / All I do is think of you and cry” are the lyrics that speak more than words. Claiming that she’ll never find someone like her love interest who seems to have faded. The second verse clings to the same strong writing that we may not have heard in the first verse - but we definitely see it through the rest of the song. After the next chorus and a short guitar solo, the refrain quickly comes where Lili just sings “All i do is think of you and cry”. The repeat of this lyric can be seen as her expression as how that’s all she really does. She can’t do anything else, she doesn’t know how. Arguably their best song, Boys is a song that will leave a mark on your mind.
