4. what was the last straw that made you finally block that annoying person?

this is so petty, but they didn't follow me back. literally, that's it. they're a wolstinien shipper, we have a bunch of mutuals in common, and i was excited to find another person with similar interests, but they didn't follow me back. so i took that personally. (to be fair, i don't block very often, this particular blog's url is filtered, not blocked)

7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?

i try my best not to admit this very often because i have friends who are ride or die for her but — y'shtola. i'm sorry, but i can't stand her anymore. i was honestly pretty indifferent to her for a long time, but she gets shoved in my face so often that i just can't deal.

this is gonna be a really broad generalization but — bad characterization. i don't mind others having different interpretations of my faves, but "different take" is not the same as "blatantly incorrect." it's why i can't deal with most emet-selch fics. it's really impressive how good this fandom is at nailing his voice, but not his actual character.

21. part of canon you think is overhyped

the scion "deaths" in ultima thule. this was such a good example of "you had me in the first half." i was fully wrecked after thancred and estinien, but once it became obvious that everyone was just gonna sacrifice themselves, i got completely taken out. i knew everyone was going to come back and the whole sequence completely lost its impact for me. i will admit that g'raha's speech just before his sacrifice still got me, but that's because i love him so much.

24. topic that brings up the most rancid discourse

lately? dawntrail msq and its characters. i was almost scared to even answer this honestly because i've seen how sideways this topic can go, but i haven't seen it as often on tumblr, so i'm trusting y'all. but god forbid you're in the camp that didn't like dawntrail for any number of reasons (i legitimately spent the back half of msq pissed off and that only partially had to do with wuk lamat). the discourse around this topic legitimately reminds me of ye olde fandom discourse, people (on both sides) get so incredibly toxic about it. you liked it? fine. you disliked it? fine. IT'S FINE.

Has your WoL/OC ever lost their shit/cool? What was the cause?

She sure has!!! Despite being so positive most of the time, Ehryu actually has a pretty short temper when it comes to things like witnessing injustice. She's definitely lost her shit on villains — and on assholes too petty to be worthy of the name "villain," like Ungust. She lost her shit on Thancred after meeting Ryne and seeing how he was treating her.

One of the hardest things she's ever done was not losing her shit on Quintus after he collared the twins (although she did manage to sneak a moment to very seriously tell the two of them, "If you change your minds and want me to kill him, I think I could avoid hurting too many of the others").

Is there something you historically felt (or still feel) awkard about describing in terms of your character's relationships? Whether sexual acts, bodyparts, pillow talk, romantic declarations or using the "L word". How did you overcome this (if you ever have)?

ah... yes... anything like... involving declaration of feelings or tenderness in a Serious, Heartfelt Way is pretty awkward/difficult for me to write/describe. there's a few scenes in my longfic that i just. have avoided writing bc they're big and daunting for me to tackle in nature. (for instance, i have tried to figure out their first spoken "i love you"s for so long but every time i start to write it i get so Flustered i have to stop lmao)

🏬would they have sex in public? if so, how public is too public?

I think Ariane's the type who would enjoy sex in a place that feels kind of public, just enough for a little thrill, but not public enough where's there's actually much risk of getting caught (or where getting caught would have severe social consequences). So sneaking off to an out-of-the-way spot at a high-society event, sure, she could be into that. In the stacks at a library, probably not. She's pretty good with not having shame about sex itself (she keeps all her shame elsewhere, lol), but there's a lot of social anxiety she's still trying to overcome, and if she's too worried she won't really be able to enjoy it.

If she's with a more adventurous partner, that's going to rub off (heh) on her. Haurchefant is like that. Their first time together is up against the wall in the Intercessory. 😂 No one is actually that likely to interrupt the Commander's private meeting with the Warrior of Light, at least not for anything short of an emergency, and if they did it wouldn't be that big a deal, it'd just be "Oh, Lord Haurchefant and his adventurers!" but it still has that thrill of being illicit.

Whereas Urianger is a lot more reserved, and while she might suggest something if she thinks he'll enjoy it, she'd never push him if he wasn't comfortable.

17. What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic?

man, the fun thing about getting into Assassin's Creed is you learn a lot of shit while you're doing research for fic and roleplay just so you can get the voices and the setting right. for example: Edward Kenway (and Connor, and Haytham, and Shay Cormac, and Arno Dorian) would not know what a dinosaur is! because people only started to recognize dinosaurs as something unique from animals in 1817. like yeah, people knew ancient animals were a thing before then, but dinosaurs weren't classified as dinosaurs back in their day.

another thing: Jacob Frye would almost certainly have met and been friends with Boulton and Park, the crossdressers who were arrested for, essentially, crossdressing. (there were charges of sodomy brought against them but the whole thing has a frisson of "these MEN are wearing DRESSES" which is more than a little familiar, in this day and age. we don't actually know how Boulton and Park, aka Fanny and Stella, identified, gender identity-wise, but at the very least they were visibly queer.) being a bisexual gang leader in the Victorian era, he'd be more than sympathetic to their plight, and in the ACverse when they got arrested almost certainly sought to ensure they got off okay.

and this isn't AssCreed but Hamilton, but I have always loved that Baron von Steuben, the guy who whipped the Revolutionary Army into shape, historically threw pantsless flaming shots parties at Valley Forge. I'm not kidding. he actually did that. also he was almost certainly gay, and, this I found out doing research for AssCreed, he dressed his men in red coats on his first arrival to American shores because he wanted to come in style.

informal: What's your OC's lazy-day look? How do they like to dress when they're winding down?

OC ASKS: CHARACTER DESIGN EDITION (CLOSED)

Ellie doesn't often have lazy days but if she does, it's usually spent at a lover's home, which means she's often probably just wearing bottoms and one of their shirts. If she is at home though, she's probably wearing the same; comfortable tops and bottoms, something non-restricting, though very much far from flattering.

When she can take time to be comfortable outside of armor or public-wear, she tends to go a bit overboard because it's so rare that she can relax in such a state.

What does a relaxing night in look like for them?

Honestly, just sitting in each other's presence and doing their own thing, without even necessarily talking to each other much.

Nigen is a little crafty, she gained a few carving and leatherworking skills while living on the steppe, and occasionally on quiet evenings she'll occupy herself by crafting little trinkets out of scraps of leather and various other materials she collected during her travels. Estinien has yet to find himself a hobby that'll truly engage him so usually he'll be nearby doing maintenance on his armor or making sure his lance is properly cleaned off whatever grim might've gotten on it during an earlier training session/sparring match. Sometimes though he'll just sit there and watch Nigen work, it's nice to observe her doing things with her hands. And sometimes he'll pull her into his lap and watch with his arms wrapped around her and his head over her shoulder, all to get a better look at what she's doing of course. She's not protesting, it certainly is a comfortable place to sit in while being engaged in handiwork.

How do you deal with writing pressure, whether internal or external?

Very badly. I'm my own worst critic, my harshest taskmaster, and my biggest bully. I get extremely annoyed with myself that I can't write like I used to before the oxygen deprivation borked my brain.

External, though... Meh, y'all can't hurt me more than I hurt myself. You wanted something? Sorry, take a number.

All this being said, my best writing comes from improvisation. I can't do it on command. It just... happens.

godless... *whines loudly* and not because i don't want to (trust me, i would love to finish it), but simply because i'm not in the same headspace anymore. it will forever be my "maybe one day..." fic.

what does your wol do to unwind? any hobbies? reading? sewing? croquet? sitting in a dark room in complete silence?

Ehryu is... not very good at unwinding. she's more about pushing herself to exhaustion physically, and relying on distraction mentally. she only knows how to go full throttle!!! she can do "quiet" activities like sewing (she's not a fan of reading specifically) but even then she gets super intense about them. you have to wear her out like a puppy to get her to chill

with one exception: get her really really physically comfortable. she'll melt with a really good massage or the like. physically pull her down onto a nice soft bed and you've got a half-decent shot at getting her to stay there

Nero's place in the story from post-ARR onward is really interesting to me. Unlike Gaius, Nero is never really trying to "redeem" himself, but he is moving on and ahead in his life. It's something that feels incredibly understated by comparison, but it also works for me because, unlike Gaius, I don't think Nero ever really cared about the Empire's ideals.

I'm not sure how to put it, but I actually really like how it's handled. Nero doesn't actually come to any broader conclusion about the hypocrisy of the Empire, he just realizes that his goals and desires are better pursued elsewhere.

Basically, he didn't "become good", but he also didn't have to. People have all sorts of reasons for leaving behind an oppressive regime and even if the reason is selfish, it's still a positive to leave it. Idk, I just like seeing that.

Absolutely! I just hope that the devs continue to create harder content for those who actually want to try it legit. Though the alternative of doing like what WoW did by designing the fights around people needing to use third party tools sounds even worse than just no longer producing Ultimates at all.

(As a side note, Folding Ideas released a REALLY neat video about it a couple of months back and how it affects instrumental play and unspoken community rules. If anyone's got the 1.5 hrs to spare to watch it, it's worth a watch!)
