How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

No but for real, the answer is "Until I'm happy with it." For one-shots, that's usually not more than a couple of passes; for longfic, where there's more likely to be structural revisions, it can take a while!

4. what was the last straw that made you finally block that annoying person?

this is so petty, but they didn't follow me back. literally, that's it. they're a wolstinien shipper, we have a bunch of mutuals in common, and i was excited to find another person with similar interests, but they didn't follow me back. so i took that personally. (to be fair, i don't block very often, this particular blog's url is filtered, not blocked)

7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?

i try my best not to admit this very often because i have friends who are ride or die for her but — y'shtola. i'm sorry, but i can't stand her anymore. i was honestly pretty indifferent to her for a long time, but she gets shoved in my face so often that i just can't deal.

23, which is not all that many, imo.

14. that one thing you see in fics all the time

this is gonna be a really broad generalization but — bad characterization. i don't mind others having different interpretations of my faves, but "different take" is not the same as "blatantly incorrect." it's why i can't deal with most emet-selch fics. it's really impressive how good this fandom is at nailing his voice, but not his actual character.

21. part of canon you think is overhyped

the scion "deaths" in ultima thule. this was such a good example of "you had me in the first half." i was fully wrecked after thancred and estinien, but once it became obvious that everyone was just gonna sacrifice themselves, i got completely taken out. i knew everyone was going to come back and the whole sequence completely lost its impact for me. i will admit that g'raha's speech just before his sacrifice still got me, but that's because i love him so much.

24. topic that brings up the most rancid discourse

lately? dawntrail msq and its characters. i was almost scared to even answer this honestly because i've seen how sideways this topic can go, but i haven't seen it as often on tumblr, so i'm trusting y'all. but god forbid you're in the camp that didn't like dawntrail for any number of reasons (i legitimately spent the back half of msq pissed off and that only partially had to do with wuk lamat). the discourse around this topic legitimately reminds me of ye olde fandom discourse, people (on both sides) get so incredibly toxic about it. you liked it? fine. you disliked it? fine. IT'S FINE.

Has your WoL/OC ever lost their shit/cool? What was the cause?

She sure has!!! Despite being so positive most of the time, Ehryu actually has a pretty short temper when it comes to things like witnessing injustice. She's definitely lost her shit on villains — and on assholes too petty to be worthy of the name "villain," like Ungust. She lost her shit on Thancred after meeting Ryne and seeing how he was treating her.

One of the hardest things she's ever done was not losing her shit on Quintus after he collared the twins (although she did manage to sneak a moment to very seriously tell the two of them, "If you change your minds and want me to kill him, I think I could avoid hurting too many of the others").

Plan on, no because I don't know if there Will be anything coming up in the Death Note fandom (there probably will be) -- WAIT YES ACTUALLY I FORGOT ABOUT NOVEMBER WRITING MONTH, THAT PROBABLY COUNTS. So yes, we're doing that for sure (we've participated every single year since 2018 and we're not going to stop now, who needs an official org for Writing November lol)

But aside from that: would Love To :3 (in particular if there is anything around like, Near's birthday or something. We're probably going to be traveling round that time (@ near why must you have been born late August) BUT! If we can sneak in some drabbles (strict definition), those are a fun challenge we can knock out in a few hours max, so. You know. Compatible with Not At Home life.)

Is there something you historically felt (or still feel) awkard about describing in terms of your character's relationships? Whether sexual acts, bodyparts, pillow talk, romantic declarations or using the "L word". How did you overcome this (if you ever have)?

ah... yes... anything like... involving declaration of feelings or tenderness in a Serious, Heartfelt Way is pretty awkward/difficult for me to write/describe. there's a few scenes in my longfic that i just. have avoided writing bc they're big and daunting for me to tackle in nature. (for instance, i have tried to figure out their first spoken "i love you"s for so long but every time i start to write it i get so Flustered i have to stop lmao)

17. What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic?

man, the fun thing about getting into Assassin's Creed is you learn a lot of shit while you're doing research for fic and roleplay just so you can get the voices and the setting right. for example: Edward Kenway (and Connor, and Haytham, and Shay Cormac, and Arno Dorian) would not know what a dinosaur is! because people only started to recognize dinosaurs as something unique from animals in 1817. like yeah, people knew ancient animals were a thing before then, but dinosaurs weren't classified as dinosaurs back in their day.

another thing: Jacob Frye would almost certainly have met and been friends with Boulton and Park, the crossdressers who were arrested for, essentially, crossdressing. (there were charges of sodomy brought against them but the whole thing has a frisson of "these MEN are wearing DRESSES" which is more than a little familiar, in this day and age. we don't actually know how Boulton and Park, aka Fanny and Stella, identified, gender identity-wise, but at the very least they were visibly queer.) being a bisexual gang leader in the Victorian era, he'd be more than sympathetic to their plight, and in the ACverse when they got arrested almost certainly sought to ensure they got off okay.

and this isn't AssCreed but Hamilton, but I have always loved that Baron von Steuben, the guy who whipped the Revolutionary Army into shape, historically threw pantsless flaming shots parties at Valley Forge. I'm not kidding. he actually did that. also he was almost certainly gay, and, this I found out doing research for AssCreed, he dressed his men in red coats on his first arrival to American shores because he wanted to come in style.

informal: What's your OC's lazy-day look? How do they like to dress when they're winding down?

OC ASKS: CHARACTER DESIGN EDITION (CLOSED)

Ellie doesn't often have lazy days but if she does, it's usually spent at a lover's home, which means she's often probably just wearing bottoms and one of their shirts. If she is at home though, she's probably wearing the same; comfortable tops and bottoms, something non-restricting, though very much far from flattering.

When she can take time to be comfortable outside of armor or public-wear, she tends to go a bit overboard because it's so rare that she can relax in such a state.

How do you deal with writing pressure, whether internal or external?

Very badly. I'm my own worst critic, my harshest taskmaster, and my biggest bully. I get extremely annoyed with myself that I can't write like I used to before the oxygen deprivation borked my brain.

External, though... Meh, y'all can't hurt me more than I hurt myself. You wanted something? Sorry, take a number.

All this being said, my best writing comes from improvisation. I can't do it on command. It just... happens.

[3] What emotion is the hardest for them to deal with?

OC Questions meme!

This was actually kind of a tricky one to answer for Ariane! A lot of her story is about grief... but because of that, grief is an old friend. She lost her first home when she was 12, and friends with it; she lost her second home when she was 22, and her family with it. And yeah, there have been times in her life where grief threatened to destroy her, but it hasn't. I think Ariane's strength there lies in the fact that she doesn't smother her grief or try not to feel it; she screams and sobs and rends her garments, but then she keeps going.

I think what she actually deals with a lot worse is the far more mundane feelings of loneliness, isolation, and rejection (real or perceived). As a socially awkward nerd who always struggled with making friends, Ariane has always leaned heavily on others making overtures of friendship. The problem with that is you can't really expect people to know you want to be friends, or to know what your needs are as a friend, if you don't communicated those things in any way.

Ariane goes through a long period of feeling like an outsider in the Scions, feeling like they don't really see her as one of them, feeling like her talents are more important than who she is as a person... and while there are certainly some things they do and say that contribute to that, there's also a failure on her part to open up to them, to let herself be more than the Warrior of Light in their presence. Her sense of loneliness and isolation is in part self-reinforcing, and at a certain point she has to crawl out from under her own self-pity and learn that if you reach out a hand, you might find one reaching back.

godless... *whines loudly* and not because i don't want to (trust me, i would love to finish it), but simply because i'm not in the same headspace anymore. it will forever be my "maybe one day..." fic.

Hiii thank you for asking!! :3

The answer is no. Love seeing what people come up with, if anything, but making them ourselves requires browsing + selecting + arranging images and that's too many braincells (visual processing, especially of colours/on screens, is super resource-intensive for us -- like we have to have our electronics on grayscale at least 25% of the time & almost always yellow-filtered at minimum brightness, or it hurts). So we're more of a playlist kind of guys!
