so a couple of friends showed me the canon design of the Monkey King in the Sonic universe, and then i was dared to draw my take on him, and thus..... this redesign was born!!
#my art#jttw#sonic#journey to the west#sonic archie comics#sun wukong#monkey king#i wanted to try incorporating tiger stripes into his design bc of the whole tiger pelt thing#hence all the lil stripey bits on him!!#i also tried to copy the masklike stripes shadow has around his eyes and i thiiink i succeeded there?#i felt the teal helped break up the warm tones but wanted to keep it on his face#that way it rly made his eyes stand out#i wanted him to look like he could literally leap onto and balance on his staff at a second's notice#it was a bummer to see the archie comics not incorporate his fiery eyes tbh#i might fiddle with this design again later on but for now i'm happy with it!
