Sevika's Boss ꩜ part 2
hi anon, sevikas boss fanfic got a lot of love a while ago so im happy to write part 2 !! let me know if you enjoyed i threw in some misunderstandings for fun here..maybe kind of angst?? its okay tho you make up very quickly PART 1 , masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You and Sevika hung around eachother a lot, I mean that was normal right? She is your second in command afterall.
Personally, you didn't see a problem with it, and nor did Sevika.
She had grown accustomed to your presence and didn't mind all your small, loving touches and annoying jokes.
And yes, sometimes she went a little overboard for you, like what kind of subordinate stays at their bosses house to tend to them whilst they are injured? Or goes out for drinks every weekend? But maybe your relationship was starting to exceed the bounds of boss and employee.
She has definitely warmed up to you more than she did with Silco. She thinks it was your charming personality, or cute outfits, your smile...
Some people might say you sitting in Sevikas lap while you fixed up her arm might be indecency in the workplace, but you found it to be a simple and innocent task.
But this begs the question, what exactly is your relationship?
This is also a question Jinx was starting to ask herself.
"So uh...whats with you and Sevika?" Jinx asked in an almost singsongy voice.
She flipped her gun around in her hand haphazardly while she was sprawled out on your (Silcos) desk.
"What do you mean whats with us..?" You shook your head, mimicking her movements with your pen.
"I meaaan, you guys act like a married couple or something!" She threw her two hands in the air with a 'duh' kind of look plastered on her face.
You pushed one of her braids to the side to pull out a paper from under it. One of Sevikas reports from a recent trip. Her handwriting was an imperfect cursive. Sighing, you put your face in your hand while you held the paper, staring at it diligently.
Jinx looked at you quizically at your lack of an answer. She sharply pushes the paper down with the tip of her gun, "Hey, are you— Oh," She let out a nasally laugh at the paper, "Damn, you got it bad, huh, toots?"
"What? I have what bad?" You slid the paper away and tilted your head at her.
The blue-haired girl sat up and rested a spindly arm on her knee, "You're so in L word with her." She snickered at you.
"Im in—" Your face flushed at your realization. "I am not in 'L word' with her." You raised your hands to do finger quotes around 'L word.'
"Hmmmm, are you sure?" She teased, putting her gun to her chin and looking up in mock thought "I mean, you practically cling to her, you always walk home with her, and plus you talk about her all the time– hell! You talk to her all the time."
You stared at Jinx, now zoning out in thought. What were you supposed to tell Sevika? Does Sevika even think the same way about you? Would that relationship even be appropriate?
"You know what?" You stood up and pointed in Jinx' face, "Im going to do it—"
She attempted to cut you off with a meek,
"Sevikas—"
"Im going to tell her I love her," You continued, Jinx' half attempt to save your ass fell on deaf ears.
You looked up, finger still in the girls face to make eye contact with a very familiar set of grey eyes. Fuck.
Sevikas gaze faltered, and she cleared her throat, bringing a fist to her mouth, "Um. I came to ask you if you wanted to grab a drink, but it seems like you have better plans."
Holy shit. She didn't know it was about her. Is that good or bad? You only felt a few seconds of relief before Sevika just turned around and walked out. That was bad.
Jinx whistled, still under the pressure of your pointing finger, "You have some explaining to do."
You fumbled over your words before pushing Jinx' forehead back with your finger. "Ughh.. This is your fault."
You drooped back down into the large chair, putting your head in your hand and heaving a sigh.
"Just go tell her while you still have a chance. She's probably going to be moping around the Last Drop," Jinx got up from her spot on the desk, and some papers fell with her.
"That's my queue to leave, though," She hopped out of the office with a little too much energy, probably on her way to cause more mischief.
You sighed and packed up your stuff, picking up stray papers and shoving them into a random drawer on your desk.
Grabbing your bag and slinging it over your shoulder, you pushed open the double doors to your office. It was time to go to the last drop.
poor sevika
Your entrance was signified with the ding of a bell atop the door. Music was playing loudly, and people were swarmed around the bar. Your eyes scanned the nearest areas for Sevika, but as you figures she was nowhere in sight.
She was most definitely in her usual gambling spot. You didn't want to approach her while she was in the middle of a game, so you waited at a nearby table, making sure to stay out of her sight.
You could hear the groans of the men at her table, most definitely losing. Chuckling at this, you watched as a waiter came up to your table asking for your order.
You just asked for a simple whiskey sour, hanging your bag on the back of your chair.
Several minutes (and a few drinks later), you felt someone's eyes on the back of your head. Turning around, you, once again, were met with steely grey eyes. Sevika stood near behind you with her arms crossed. The game had finished.
"You get rejected or something." She deadpanned.
"No—well.. not yet." You turned around in your chair to face her, the metal back of the chair was now settled between your legs.
You held what you thought was your sixth whiskey sour in between your fingers, chin resting on the top of the chair back.
She scoffed at this, turning her head to avoid eye contact. You could have sworn a small blush coated her cheeks. But her frown made you think otherwise, her large forearms tensed before she spoke.
"Oh, so you're waiting for her here."
How cruel of you to profess your love to someone in the place you knew Sevika would be. You probably wanted her to see it, right?
"Yeah, shes already here." You said, still staring at her side profile, tracing the scar on her cheek with your eyes.
The neon lights illuminated her face and brought out every curve and angle. But your thoughts were interrupted by her stern and almost angry voice.
"I should leave then," she started to walk away, but you reached out quickly.
(I dont know why you would do that when she wasn't even in arms length to begin with.) You started to fall forward, you let out a small yelp and held onto the chair, your drink falling onto the ground. You awaited impact, but it never came.
Instead, you were met with strong arms holding the back of your chair up. Sevika was bent over slightly, both mechanical arm and human arm on the metal of the chair. And for the third time, you made eye contact with now very close grey eyes. Her eyebrows were furrowed in shock or frustration- you couldn't tell.
Without another thought, you grabbed her by the collar and pulled her lips into yours. At first, she tried to pull away but eventually melted into the heat of the kiss. She sat your chair back up on four legs, and her elbows lean on the top of the chair, encircling you.
Almost as soon and she relented she pulled away, "What the hell are you doing," She rasped, wiping her mouth with the back of a large hand.
Her lips were still puffy from the kiss, but almost more downturned than before. When you didn't respond she offered a question, "Are you drunk?"
Your lopsided grin told her all she needed to know. She knew she needed to take you home, but she was going to do so reluctantly. Afterall you were going to become someone else's girl, couldn't have her hands all over you like she usually did.
She grabbed you (almost roughly) by the arms and pulled you out of the chair, "How are you going to profess your love now?" She scoffed.
"I just did, was that not enough?" Your words were slurred and you helped her by stepping up with heavy legs.
She furrowed her brows until she came to a not-so-shocking realization. Cursing under her breath she smirked at you. You could almost see the relief wash over her face.
Her thick arm held you by your upper torso as she almost carried you to the doors. She sighed at your stupidness, why not just tell her right away, then you wouldn't have to have gone through all the trouble.
She eyed your glossed over eyes, shaking her head at the dumb smirk that held its place on your face. She could feel the quiver of your body against the cold night wind.
At that she lifted you into her arms, covering you with her cloak. You looked up at her with wide eyes, burying your face in the material. God she wanted to kiss you so bad. But she'd save that for the awkward talk in the morning.

Part 31. Perfect Dichotomy (Midnight Rendezvous, Part A)
< First | < Previous | Next >
Description below the cut
Chat Noir attempts to sit on the rolling chair by Marinette’s computer, but Ladybug pulls his tail and points at the chaise lounge instead.
Ladybug: Over here.  We can sit on the chaise lounge together.
Chat Noir: Oh?  You want me to be closer?
Chat exaggeratedly sprawls out onto Ladybug’s lap, arching his back and flinging his arms above his head.  Ladybug looks down at him with a teasing grin.
Chat Noir: How about this close?
Ladybug: A cat lying on my lap, huh?  That sounds...
Ladybug scratches the top of Chat’s head as he grins with deep pleasure.
Ladybug: Purr-fect.
Chat turns over and hugs Ladybug’s shin while she gives Chat more head scritches and rubs his back.
Ladybug: So… wanna tell me what's got you so spooked about Mayura?
Chat Noir: She and Catwalker… talked.  About me.  She mentioned some things that not many people would know.
Flashback to “Glaciator”: Marinette and Chat Noir rest on the railing of the balcony and look at each other as the moon shines over the city.
Ladybug (voiceover): But Marinette knows?  I suppose you have visited her a fair bit.  It's not all that surprising that you've shared some personal things with her...
Chat looks up at Ladybug and holds his finger and thumb an inch apart.
Chat Noir: It’s a bit more complicated than that.  Though I suppose I am missing some key details...
Ladybug puts her fist on her chin in contemplation (Her other hand continues giving Chat scritches).
Ladybug: So Catwalker’s been hiding things from you too...?
Chat Noir: More like Mayura was being extra cryptic—or lying.  All I really know for sure is that she’s looking for me.
Ladybug: I still don't understand why she cares so much...
Chat holds his hands out in a self-satisfied ‘Oh well!’ gesture.  (Ladybug stops giving him scritches).
Chat Noir: I like getting on villains' nerves, what can I say? I'll just have to keep frustrating her in our little game of 'Cat and Mouse'.
Ladybug pulls out the pillow from under her leg and ‘bonks’ Chat Noir on the head with it as he tries to placate her with a large grin.
Ladybug: Why do you make it sound like you’ve been doing something really stupid?
Chat Noir: Just because my methods are ridiculous, it doesn’t mean they don’t work!
Ladybug: That is not reassuring.
Chat leans against the chaise lounge next to Ladybug, hands clasped.
Chat Noir: Don’t worry, LB.  I’ve got it handled. I think the bigger problem is what prompted you to bring me here.  Wanna tell me what's wrong?
Chat kneels a leg next to Ladybug and places one hand on her arm and the other on her back.
Ladybug: I'm not sure how to explain...
Chat Noir: Start anywhere.  I think I can keep up.
Ladybug closes her eyes and holds her head in her hands with an expression of longing.
Ladybug: It's... Catwalker.  He's too perfect.
Chat Noir: ...You lost me.
A series of flashbacks with events shown pretty much as they occurred:
Flashback to “Kuro Neko”: Catwalker peeks around the corner at Kuro Neko, while Ladybug leans forward, catching her breath.
Ladybug (voiceover): He notices things that I'm too blind to see.
Catwalker (flashback): If that was Chat Noir, don't you think he'd talk to you?
Flashback to Part 6: View of Catwalker and Ladybug from below as they travel across the sky.
Catwalker (flashback): I can’t rule that out, but… my gut says that’s not it.
Ladybug (voiceover): His instincts about akumas are much better than mine.
Flashback to “Kuro Neko”: Ladybug looks at Catwalker as they kneel on a rooftop.
Ladybug (voiceover): It's like he already knows the answer I need.
Catwalker (flashback): Cats sometimes eat grass, it helps them spit out their hairballs.
Flashback to Part 8: A close-up of Ladybug looking right next to a close-up of Catwalker looking left.
Catwalker (flashback): You still have a multitude of people who can help you.
Ladybug (voiceover): And he's just nudging me to think of it myself.
Flashback to Part 18: Ladybug, still falling, throws her yo-yo through one of the holes in the lower conical barrier.  In the cone above, Catwalker places his hand against its barrier.  Both barriers begin to disintegrate.
Ladybug (voiceover): He always finds the right moment to use his powers.
Catwalker (flashback): Cataclysm!
Flashback to Part 26: Ladybug uses her yo-yo to flee as Oni-Chan lunges towards her.  But behind Oni-Chan, Catwalker has backflipped into the room behind her, his finger touching the amok with his Cataclysm.
Ladybug (voiceover): But I just ruin the opportunities he gives me because I never expect him to live up to you.
Flashback to Part 15: Ladybug turns back to looking down at the city below.  Catwalker holds up a hand to offer a friendly suggestion.
Catwalker (flashback): If you’d like to talk about anything, I’d be happy to stay and listen.
Ladybug (voiceover): And even when I can't do anything, he still acts so unbelievably kind...
Flashback to “Kuro Neko”: Catwalker, illuminated by the moon, reaches his hand before him for Ladybug to hold.
Ladybug (voiceover): He's just so... perfect.
Catwalker (flashback): Now I want to take care of you.
Ladybug (voiceover): But then I learned the truth:
Another series of flashbacks, with events depicted slightly off from what actually happened and Catwalker showing more malice.
Flashback to Part 12: Catwalker almost pointedly looks towards Carapace, who looks away guiltily.
Ladybug (voiceover): He lies and bends the truth with ease.
Catwalker (flashback): We only assume Adrien wants to be found.
Flashback to Part 17: Catwalker looks down towards Ladybug, the hand in front of him leaning on one of the barriers between them.
Catwalker (flashback): If he was dead, no one would know.
Ladybug (voiceover): And his lies lead to people suffering.
Flashback to Part 19: Catwalker steps forward, his hands palm upward in front of him, trying to explain himself.
Ladybug (voiceover): He'll use his heroic duty as an excuse to hold back.
Catwalker (flashback): I can't be as lax as Chat Noir was.
Flashback to Part 14: Catwalker grabs the end of Rena’s flute and pulls up the phone screen. Embedded flashback bubble from Part 20: Alya looks away and rubs the back of her neck.
Alya (flashback): He stole my phone number from my flute.
Ladybug (voiceover): But he crosses boundaries he shouldn't with no excuse.
Flashback to “Kuro Neko”: Catwalker pauses as he leaves Ladybug to finish everything on her own.
Ladybug (voiceover): He pretends to do what I want.
Catwalker (flashback): I won't make another move.
Flashback to Part 28: Astrowalker, wrapped tightly in yo-yo string (even his wings have been folded in on themselves and bound), hangs upside-down as Cosmobug points angrily at his face.
Catwalker (flashback): I followed you in case I needed to stay in your way.
Ladybug (voiceover): But he goes rogue once I'm not watching.
Flashback to Part 8: Catwalker lays on his side next to Emilie, reaching away from her.  Embedded flashback bubble from Part 20: Marinette clenches her fists in front of her, looking haunted.
Ladybug (voiceover): I can only guess at what other awful things he's hidden beneath my nose.
Marinette (flashback): What if he used his powers on his mom?
Flashback to Part 4: Catwalker grins at Ladybug with perfect posture, his hands on his lap.
Ladybug (voiceover): His perfection is an illusion.
Catwalker (flashback): I considered what I needed in order to be your 'ideal' partner.
Ladybug (voiceover): And I don't know what prices were paid to uphold his illusion.
Flashbacks end. Chat Noir kneels next to Ladybug on the chaise lounge as they embrace.
Chat Noir: I'm sorry, m'Lady. It's unfair that you've had to go through all of this.  If Catwalker is so wrong... would it be better if I was your Chat Noir again?
Ladybug: I wish I could let you. But I can't let Mayura target you.  Even if you were careful, she'd probably go after your loved ones in retaliation.  I won't let that happen.
Chat Noir: Alright.  Then what's the best way for me to support you?
Ladybug: Tell me how to fix everything?  *sob* I'm sorry, I don't think there's anything you can do.
Chat Noir: You're underestimating me.  And I think that you're underestimating him.  You're right that he's not perfect.  But I do think he's trying to be good.
Ladybug: I wish I had your ability to believe in people.  But Catwalker is too good of a liar.  I can't really know if he cares about anyone.  But I have to keep him as my partner.  I just have no idea how.
Chat Noir stands and rubs his chin in thought as Ladybug looks on.
Chat Noir: What if... What if I showed you the truth about Catwalker?
Ladybug: The... 'truth'?  You don't mean his identity, do you?
Chat Noir: No, of course not.  But this could fundamentally change how you see him—you wouldn't even need his name to trust him again.
Chat smiles down and touches his chest with both hands.
Ladybug: I can't see how that's remotely possible.
Chat Noir: You trust me even though you don't know who I am, don’t you?
Ladybug: Because I know you.
Chat Noir: Because you got to know me.  And if you knew the truth, you could know him too.
Chat scratches his head sheepishly and holds up a finger.  Ladybug turns away with hands raised, exasperated.
Chat Noir: There's just one itty-bitty catch.
Ladybug: Of course there's a catch...
Chat looks away, rubbing his arm.
Chat Noir: If I share this with you...?  My identity would make it dangerously easy to figure out who he is.  And a part of me was kinda hoping that I could show you who I am tonight.
Ladybug’s eyes widen in astonishment.
Ladybug: You wanted to share identities?
Chat Noir: Just mine.  I know his identity, so I shouldn't risk learning yours too anytime soon.
Chat leans down to touch Ladybug’s shoulder and holds up his fist encouragingly.
Chat Noir: But if you want to be absolutely certain of Catwalker's loyalties?  To understand the person who is hiding behind the mask?  I'd need to keep my identity from you a little while longer.
Chat Noir raises both hands to offer two options.  Above his right hand is the image of Catwalker.  Above his left is the image of Adrien Agreste.
Chat Noir: But it’s your choice, Ladybug: Learn the underlying truth about your new partner?  Or learn the civilian identity of your old partner?
Below is the same image as above, only without text:

“Graham.”
Every slice of carrot cut through, the knife hit a grunt against the cutting board. “Mm?”
Wesley held his arms crossed, rubbing at the fuzz of his sweater. “Can I talk to you? Please?” Graham did his best not to fall for the eyes he would always use on their master, pleading and doe like. Trained yet mesmerizing.
“Sure.” He shrugged, sticking his gaze to the task at hand.
Wesley sighed, as if he had a reason to. “Not… right here. In private.” He mumbled, face scrunching up in a wad.
“Well, I’m making dinner.”
From the corner of his vision, Graham caught as Wesley’s expression angered. “Why are you… being so weird? About my hair?” Gripping the edge of the countertop, he did his best to get in Graham’s face, bangs freshly cut and no longer falling into his hard gaze.
Graham sighed this time, nearly slicing through his thumb. “It looks good, okay? I already told you I like it.”
“Yeah, I know Graham, that’s not what I’m asking about and you know it.” He scoffed, before softening, just a smidge. “Are you… mad at me?”
“No I’m-,” his mouth twitched downward. “Why didn’t you ask me?”
“Ask you what?”
“If I could be there when you did it. If I could help.” Then he looked up, hazel eyes meeting brown. “You only ever ask her anymore.”
“I- I mean-,” Wesley spoke with his hands, just a little, before swiping one through his hair, “that’s just how it happened. I didn’t plan it or anything. I just wanted to.”
Chop, chop, chop. “Yeah, but you didn’t think of me at all. You never do anymore. You only think about her, all of the time, like she would get you. Like she knows what you have been through.”
“She literally does!” Wesley huffed a chuckle, arms out wide in disbelief.
“You know what I mean.”
He bit his lip, eyes growing moist. He always cried when he was angry. “Graham, our time with sir was completely different!”
“She doesn’t know you like I do!”
A slice of pain, a drool of red.
Wesley gasped. “Oh, Graham-,”
“I’m fine.” He snapped, reaching for a paper towel.
Wesley crossed around the tight kitchen, arms out and ready. “Let me help-,”
“I’m fine!”
Wesley stumbled back, hand on his chest at the place of impact. It wasn’t a real shove, but enough that it was a stinging shock to the both of them.
Wesley laughed then, quick and low. “I, I thought you were supposed to protect me, huh? Now you’re just gonna shove me around?”
“Well I’m not your fucking- your stupid puppy anymore, okay?” Graham growled, shaking his head and cradling his bleeding finger with a quivering hand.
“So then why are you acting like one trying to follow me everywhere, try- trying to be there for my every move? Being all needy?”
“Because-!” Pounding his fist to the wood, Graham roared, “Beacause I have to! You just don’t get it!”
Wesley’s voice lost it’s edge then, begging, “Then make me get it, Graham.”
“I…,” he swallowed, pausing, brain turning, “It feels like my head is going to- to fucking explode whenever I don’t know where you are because, like, what if you’re hurt or someone’s hurting you, and I hate it because I know you hate it and I just want to be me but my whole life revolves around you-,”
“But, Graham, I just-,” he sputtered a laugh, sour, “I thought you were past all of this, y’know, ‘cause you’re you, and we’re apart all the time now I… I thought you were fine.”
Graham hung his head. “Yeah… I lied. I did. I’m sorry.”
You are nothing without someone to serve.
His expression hardened, grip on his finger twisting. “I am nothing without someone to serve.”
Wesley grazed his arm, yet Graham yanked back. “Don’t- don’t say that-,”
Shaking his head, Graham clenched his fists to his side. “It is true, Wesley. Tell me one thing about me that’s not pet related. One thing.”
One second Wesley’s mouth fell wide, before it snapped shut. “Hey, that, that’s not-,”
“You can’t. Okay, Wesley?”
All you are is some stupid, loyal mutt.
“That’s all I am.”
Wesley’s brown eyes were filled with a moist redness, brows furrowed over them. “Fine. Fine! You tell yourself that and you’re not even trying to get better.” Pushing past the other rescue, he stormed back to their room, slamming the door behind him.
Graham didn’t mean to think it. He did, anyway.
Good.

Hero, Villain God 17
(Prev) (Next) (First)
*Scar's pov*
Poultryman leaves quickly but you can't help but keep feeling suspicious. Nothing concrete and his explanation does make sense but you can't help but feel that It was weird for him to just be there like that...
He said he heard of it but ... How did he do so quickly? And why was he just standing there...menacingly?
You don't get the time to think about it further and quickly forget about it as Cub messages you, the hero association wants to talk to you for some reason and that means something is wrong...
...You are a bit worried.
...
You uh... don't really know what to do, your fight and flight is going off in a way only a council of business people can make it go off.
The council is staring at you, you thought they wanted to tell you something not look at you with... judgement in their eyes for like ten minutes straight.
You try to break the tension by initiating the conversation yourself.
"H-hello?"
...
"You wanted to speak with me?"
They are still silent? Did you say something wrong? You literally just said hi-
"Indeed, a decision has been talen that we believe you should be informed of."
Ok, not silent anymore, that's good... Wait decision? They aren't demoting you or something, right?
"Did something happen?"
They look to eachother...ok...even more worrying. It's fine everything is fine, you are totally calm and chill and not anxious at all.
"No, but something will."
"O-ok?"
Points for being ominous for no reason.
"Hotguy, you cannot continue to work alone. The stakes are growing, it is becoming too dangerous.."
"Oh!"
Oh! Are they making a hero team? You always wanted one of those-
"We are not going to waste heroes on a team"
And just like that your hopes are dashed and crushed. Why are you still here...just to suffer?
"But then-"
"Hotguy, how would you feel about a sidekick?"
A... Sidekick? You don't know how to feel, superheroes are supposed to have them though so It must be a good idea!...Wait.
"W-who's going to be my sidekick? You said you weren't going to waste heroes."
"That has not yet bern decided, we plan to start an hiring process of sorts soon.""
Hiring? What's this? An office job?"
"Do not question us, Hotguy. It is thanks to us you are even here to begin with"
"Right! I am sorry."
"... This is where you come in"
"Huh?"
"A sidekick should not only be capable but should also work well with the hero, you'll have to be the final judge of character "
"Oh that makes sense... So I'll interview the candidates?"
"Not directly, we cannot risk that, you'll just have to prepare some questions for them to answer"
"Oh... Alright! I'll do it"
*Mumbo's pov*
You are in your apartment, Grian is off... somewhere. You have stopped questioning him around the time you walked on him peeling grapes ... You just hope he doesn't randomly die or something, that would be quite unfortunate.
You turn on the tv, not something you do often but it's a good way to pass the time when you aren't working on something which is thinking about it...very rarely. Surely today has been uneventful.
The mayor was kidnapping by his own office and Hotguy is randomly hiring a sidekick.
What in the world has happened today??
*Grian's pov*
So Hotguy is searching for a sidekick, what interesting timing.
Well, you cannot waste this opportunity to have fun, can you.
You prepare an outfit, you even have a perfect name for this.
Cuteguy.
...
You might have too many personas now... nah.

COSMIC ─ ⊹ ⊱ ☆ ⊰ ⊹ ─
Tumblr media
[various!pjo x child of urania!reader]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
CHAPTER ONE : stargazing...petty fights... weird guy who smells of sewer water.
SUMMARY : in typical sibling fashion, your half-sister forces you to engage in bonding activities to get closer to your godparent. however it's 1am, and gods? they never cared anyways.
Tumblr media
YOUR SISTER WAS A WEIRD PERSON, or rather your "half-sister" was the epitome of whimsical shook into a bottle rapidly to create a highly-superstitious woman.
You could say she was obsessed or in her own terminology - a "passionate" astrologer who's hands were blessed by Urania's knowledge of the cosmos. (As she uttered in her theatrical matter, in front of the Hermes table. You wished with clutched hands that Zeus should strike her down with his fearsome lightning.)
Yet, in your own terminology she was a nerd who loved the stars too much she'd disintegrate herself if it ever decides to come near her vicinity. (both literally and metaphorically)
She'd wake you up in the chill-breeze of dawn, hands slapping at your sweat-filled forehead (because being squeezed in the Hermes cabin is definitely anything but cold). Her fingers gesturing to the destroyed window, (a polite gift of the Stolls) with excitement coursing over her star-speckled eyes. With drowsiness choking you by the brain, fogging everything that hurls out of her mouth - the only thing it can make out is your name.
"The constellations!" She sputtered, words spilling from her chapped lips. "They're clearer!"
"Uh...clear, cool. Woah."
"Oh my Olympus," she sighs knocking at your head, "It means Urania is giving us a sign! We need to talk to her or something!"
"Why does it matter if she..." you paused, shifting your crumpled blanket closer to your body. "Or Urania makes the constellations clearer? You know the gods don't care at all. Making up for neglect isn't making stars clearer or whatever." Rolling your eyes, flopping yourself back on the floor.
With a whine of your name, she smacks you (like she always does) "That's our mom, you have to respect her."
"That's a god." You spit out,  "She's probably out there creating more half-siblings to cramp us in this cabin."
"I hope she makes better siblings than you." She huffed, her arms crossed.
"You'll just betray me like that? I was joking, you were supposed to say you're the best ever!"
She gives you a look of disgust, her head shaking rapidly. "In a hypothetical sense, you're doing the betraying here."
You gave an awkward cough, eyes shifting away from her face. With a stiff laugh, you murmured under your breath. "In Capture the Flag... maybe?"
She tilts her head, your words processing in her mind. "Huh- wait! You're not teaming up with me?"
"Well, I wanna win for once."
"You think Clarisse will make you win?" She raises her brows, her face scanning over you like it was a joke.
"Better than be dunked in the toilet that's for sure..."
"We had a plan!"
"I barely have anything to do there," you shake your head, putting the blanket over your head. "It's probably Annabeth saying that Athena always has a plan." Replicating Annabeth's confident tone to perfection as you utter the phrase. "I am practically dummy bait for Clarisse either way."
Your ears pick up on her groan, her back hitting the wall with a loud thump. Under the covers, you shift to turn away. Your mind was on desperate measures, forcing itself to shut off - away from your half- sister's insistent pleads. The thin sheets you slept yourself on was better than lying on prickled grass, the hurls of harpies screaming in the distance, paired with the stories your sister’s would wander about was anything but delightful.
"Just let me sleep," you tell through muffled sheets, moving around the tight space.
"You're so difficult." She murmurs in exasperation, almost tired. "I'm just trying to get us closer, that's what she..." Her tone falters, like the next words were impossible for her to voice out.
You hear the deep breaths she takes in, the sigh she releases - even a clink of the necklace Urania gifted her. The subtle movement of the blanket tells her that you're prodding the next things she'll say, eager to listen.
"Oh," you finally hear her voice after the moments of silence, you find yourself shifting closer to her.
"Oh, i'm sorry Peter," she utters in a soft manner, "Did we wake you?"
Who the hell is Peter?
In a sudden movement, you fling your blanket off. Head emerging from the soft comforts of your dingy pillow to face whoever decided to join the conversation. You swore, there was never a Peter unless it was a spirit that decided to wander in the dead of dawn. But, you also know that your half-sister couldn't see ghosts. You were sure that in the entirety of Camp, only one person could do that - the cabinmate beside you whose snores irritated your ears.
Your head turns to the person, like a crane cranked up in slow motion. Your vision clearing up, the blurred figure of the person fully coming into view.
Ohh, so that's Peter.
You turn to your sibling, then back to him as your memory tries to recollect on who he was. Eyes looking over his closed off form - he's a bit close, you think. His sea-breezed hair has been swept by the constant turns in his sleep (he's restless as well, why were you beside two annoying sleepers?)
He was reminiscent of men who spent their summers lazing in the warm sands, letting the grains supple over their bodies. A man that looked like he thrived with the waves splashing in their hair and the chemical smell of sunscreen that he’d pile on endlessly. You wouldn’t be surprised if his godparent was a related to water (if Poseidon still had children, he'd be top one) or his whoever his parent was, must’ve been an avid surfer.
But, you wished he smelled like the fresh seas or of summer's refreshing taste. Instead a vague scent of rotten sewer water invaded your senses, as you shook your head. Meeting the gaze of your sibling once again, a common understanding of apologizing to him came over the two of you - his squinted eyes seemed to tell you he was irritated.
You sighed, resting your head against the creaking walls (does Chiron even have enough budget to fix this, you wonder) "Sorry Peter, we didn't mean to - "
"It's Percy." He clears up with a rather deadpan tone, his arms clutched around a rather curved object. "Can you tone it down?"
You share a look with your sister. "We're sorry, we'll quiet down."
"Will you?" He questions, hold tightening on the object in his arms. You’re pretty sure that comment was meant to jab at you two, hearing your sister mutter something inaudible.
A few awkward glances is shared between the three of you, the sudden creak of the floorboard disrupts the moment. The shuffles of your sister's footsteps is heard within the empty cabin, all you can do is observe her movements, her body reaching over to a corner.
Rustling is heard from a distance, bunches of papers being smashed into one thing. The heavy thuds of books, she stuffs countless books about astronomy (that she probably let Travis steal from the camp's store) pencils that seem to clack at every moment, pens scattered with vast colors. She slings the filled bag over her shoulder, as she faces the window, fingers nimbly opening the creak. Then with a soft breath, she turns to you two - her mouth moving in a familiar manner. She's ran away from too much cramped sleeping beds in the dead of night for you to immediately understand her.
Don’t tell Luke.
With a lazy nod, you shoo her away - an action that makes her mouth quirk up, a little "you'll pay if you snitch" emerging from her tongue. Then in a blink you find her figure blending into the starry sky, the stars seeming to twinkle a bit brighter when she did.
"Does she do that often?" Percy asks with a tilt of his head. "Isn't that, against the rules?"
"Well," you trail off with an awkward smile. "Rules never bothered her, really."
"The harpies?"
"She's good at avoiding them," shrugging him off. "Got a collection of their feathers, weirdly enough."
Percy doesn't say another word, noticing the chest set beside you — overflowing with the collection.
The nightly-air washes over your body, dancing around you playfully. It’s cool, different from the compacted warmth that Hermes’ cabin offered behind the doors. Leaning your head on the window-still, you see the glowing splatters of the stars glint in your sight. It contrasts against the abyss, like it usually does without fail - despite your reluctance, you do admit it was ethereal.
“Ah, it is clearer,” you mumble in defeat, eyes taking in the constellations that appeared within the etched sky.
Your breath awes at the different collection of constellations that pooled beneath. Immediately catching the bright gleams of common constellations ranging from the Zodiacs, drifting over to beam at Cassiopeia. You stop your observations for a moment, with a furrowed brow. Your dart your eyes to the seemingly duller shine of stars that mixed to create another picture - eyes widening at the newly found connection.
"Perseus," you whisper amongst the silence, awe filling your body - it gleamed beautifully. It took over half of the field, completely stealing the show — a rare constellation appearing?
"Excuse me?" a voice calls out within the silence, confusion evident in their tone. You flinch at the intrusion, seeing Percy look at you with a pursed lip.
"Perseus, the constellation?" Pointing to the sky above, connecting the brightest stars together to show him the picture. “You know, the Greek hero?”
"I know," he states, when you blink you find a presence settled beside you. He's close, you think, the proximity has your mind jump. He focuses his sights on the sky before him. His breath stutters unevenly, you see his throat almost bobble up — his face is a mix of everything. It's dull mostly — like the constellation isn't something he awed at. "Slayed Medusa, saved the princess, happy ending, all that." He spits out, a hard edge to his tone.
"Not a fan, huh?" you tease with a glint of mischief, hugging your knees close to your chest. "Me too," you confess, burying yourself deeper in your knees. "Heroes with a happy ending, seems weird."
"Yeah, real weird," he croaks out, his tone slightly pitched up —lips quivering when he continues to stare.
You observe him quietly, how he clings tight to the material close to him. Hugs it like it's the only warmth, the comfort he's had — it resembles how a child sticks to his mother. It makes your chest tight, your hands clammy.
With a little sigh, your body finds itself shifting closer to him. You come shoulder-to-shoulder to him, his warmth ever so present.
"Man, you do hate him huh?" you utter with a surprised tone, fiddling with your blanket. Bumping his shoulder in a light manner, you linger a bit long. "Don't worry, he doesn't show up all the time," you inform him softly, hoping it'll lift up whatever anger he has directed to him. "You'll mostly find common ones, like the Big Dipper or Cassiopeia here — just don't look too hard and Perseus won't show."
"No," he interrupts you, his eyes back at yours. The closeness has you forced to stare into his pierced gaze — it's clouded almost, like seas crashed with storms and overlapped. "No, I don't hate him."
"Then what?"
"It's just weird," he whispers. "We share a name, I find it weird."
"Perseus?" With a raised brow, you tilt your head. "You share a name with him? Perseus? Who named you that?"
He takes a second to register your question, yet his breath hitches — almost stopping his lungs from functioning.
"My mom," he rasped out, a heavy sigh ; the confession a burden to vocalize. There is a crack entering his words, mourning coloring his very body. The object he's been embracing the whole time is tighter than before, you can see the outline. Curved and pointed, a minotaur horn which was penetrating itself in his chest  — he does not stop ; he continues to press deeper.
Oh.
Minotaur horn, Percy, mother.
Minotaur horn, Percy, mother.
Minotaur horn, Percy, mother...
Then, it finally clinks in your mind ; an echo of previous events emerge within. It's him. You knew of him in the rumors that spread by both campers or by the satyrs who's hands tended the stables. The tale of a new camper brought in the hazing storm, killing the famed minotaur with brute strength — his endeavour marked by the remnant of the horn held by his hands. It was a story that'd be etched in the stars, you imagine the giddy smile your sister wore when she heard of it.
A new legend, she sputters with excitement. A story that the constellations will love.
But, your mind did not think of "legends" or the myth in a making. The boy before you, who's blanket was not neat, who's eyes started to water a bit, and choked with the overwhelming pressure of learning of his heritage — he looked too human to you.
The creation of a legend is never beautiful, it is from harsh treatment — to be attacked mercilessly of battles that the gods force you in.
You were aware of that, every demigod was.
So when you hid yourself deep in the vines that hugged the White House, hearing the worried murmurs and rabid shuffle of pinochle ; hearing news about the newest recruit. Your heart becomes heavy. Grover's tone is shaky, the tin cans that clattered as it crunched underneath his mouth. His reporting is messy, unclear, the quiet sniffles interrupt it from the clarity.
What about his mother? He quietly voices out, it is silent. Mr. D doesn't have some snarky comment nor does Chiron bring out any advice like he'd always do. What are we gonna say about his mom? Grover says, filled with desperation — it's coarse, demanding.
She's gone. He cries out, his tone is weighed in by grief ; a failure, he thinks of himself. The way how utters the words is so similar, bringing you to a moment years ago.
You try to shake off the previous events, focusing on Percy.
"Your mom," you repeat, careful to say it with caution. "She... she must've been cool to name you that."
"She was," he answer back, his tone softer. "She was the best, actually," he whispers tenderly. You feel your chest tighten at how he mentions her. He has a little smile on his face, how his dullness is now shining at every moment he thinks of her positively. He parades his memory of his mother like a cherished gift, a woman he never wants to ever forget.
You never thought it was possible to think of your own mother that way, to hold her tightly to your heart.
You give him a reassuring nod, taking in the softness that surrounded him briefly.
"Hm," you hummed, fingers playing amongst the gathering dust at the window. "Naming you after Perseus, names are pretty strong thing here, you know?"
"Grover said the same thing," he says confused. "When I almost said Diony — Mr. D's real name. What's that about?"
"Uh, my sister says it kind of seals your destiny," you trail off. "If you're named after something, your fate's gonna be written out for you." But you put a shushing motion to your mouth, "I don't believe whatever she says — she's ultra superstitious, really. It might be her fear-mongering again."
"But," you continue. "Your mother must've loved you a lot for you to be named after a hero who gets a happy ending."
He squints his eyes, wondering what you were trying to imply.
"If we do take my sister's words, she wants a happy ending for you," you say slow, thinking of how to convince him. "Then you should follow that destiny, let yourself reach a happy ending that you want," you ramble off to him, hoping he'd listen. "I mean, that's why you were brought here? You must've felt outcasted, like most of us — and now, you're not different anymore, you're just you."
You take a breather, the next words crashing on you. "That's something happy isn't it? To finally be with people who understand, — here you don't have to be scared. You can do everything without fear of judgement."
"Will I?" he spoke in a hushed tone, insecurity evident. "I mean, I did get dunked in a toilet first day in, very welcoming." He uses a sarcastic tone, the displease is displayed loudly.
That alone makes you laugh, "So Clarisse did that to you, that's why you smell weird."
"H-huh, I don't..." leaning down to sniff a part of his clothes, "I wasn't even wet by the toilet water!"
You were a bit stunned at his claims, shaking it off quickly. "Well I can still smell it!"
"Are you messing with me?"
"Well, we are in the Hermes cabin, try guessing," you cheekily reply, using your elbow to nudge him. He playfully shoves you off with a huff, making you smile.
"It's hard to read your face — it's a blurred mix," he scoffs at your words.
"Blurred mix? That's a new one," you expressed amusement, shaking your head. "Has camp been mentioning that again?"
"Well, it's not a joke, it is kinda blu —"
"Well, since you faced Clarisse's toilet ritual" you cut off his words, reaching out to pat his shoulder. "You definitely will, you'll belong here just fine."
You'll belong here just fine.
Percy pauses, your hands still placed on him — you flinch, immediately removing it. He mulls over your words, blooming something within him — you think that after being kicked out almost every year, that he'll never find a place to be. Everywhere he steps in, trouble catches up and is ready to grab his collars and sink him deeper into the pits.
To himself, he is an outcast — he has never belonged, he is the kid a Nancy Bobofit like-persona would pick on every chance, the weird kid who couldn't do well in school. A trouble-maker who'd burdened everyone.
Yet, Camp Half-blood entered his life — and everyone shares the same story. He isn't alone anymore, he's not different, he's everyone else — just like he'd dream.
Okay, I'll belong here, just fine. Percy thinks deep inside, giving you a half-smile. A shared silence falls between you two, turning your attention back to the beaming stars. You hear a stifled yawn beside you, Percy body sways like the calm winds — sleepiness overcoming his every being.
He crawls back, uttering a curt goodnight. His snores now adding on to the never-ending piles of sleepy campers — it's annoying, but it's starting to lull you to your own sense of slumber.
"Goodnight, Percy," you reply back, already finding his body deep within the covers. You observe how his face flinches, before coming down to a little smile - he was thinking of his mom. You come closer to his side.
"May the stars guide you,"  you whisper, it's unfamiliar on your tongue. It better suits your sister, however you wished the words wrapped the nightmares that plagued him. It worked when your sister uttered them when you tossed and turned at sleepless nights, gentle hands soothing you down.
You pray to that the boy beside you, who's face shone brightly at the mention of his mother. That he would not succumb to the horrors being a demigod would bring him. The grief that weighed on your , the flashes of other campers before him, who crumbled under the gods.
Do they even care?
You hope they will, someday. Turning over to observe the brightest star, a speckle of hope in your heart.
"Goodnight..."
Your voice halts at what you want to say next - "mom." Shaking your head, you return the blanket over your heaving chest.
"You really did make the stars nicer," you blurt out, a tinge of frustration in your tone. "It's not that bad." you snicker mockingly, hoping it'll anger her a bit.
Maybe, if you squinted hard enough, the star twinkled back for a brief moment. Urania's weird way of scolding, you wished - but the gods never cared, do they?

A year was not so long after all. He prepared her for the day when he would leave. But when the moment came, he found himself less prepared than she. For the first time in his life, Spock thought about returning from a mission, wondered whether or not he would survive. She had no one else, and that was a disturbing thought.
Back on board the Enterprise, he opened his case to unpack his few belongings and found things not quite as he’d left them. Tucked in at the bottom under all the folded clothes, Saavik had hidden away her knife. Spock stood in the privacy of his cabin turning it in his hand, remembering every word of their good-bye.
Some small doodles based on the above passages :)

I saw someone mentioning this on Twitter and I just. can't stop thinking about it.
So at the start of Journal 3 we find an entry about giant "vampire" bats.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ford, buddy, you aren't fooling anyone.
I think tasting your own blood when you get a minor injury and it bleeds is a pretty common thing, so I'm not sure why he's trying to convince us he's never tried it?????? Like, my guy, you didn't have to make it suspicious, but you did anyway. Now I'm concerned.
(Also, a really bad job of convincing us he never tasted human blood. If you're going to erase that part, maybe erase the whole sentence altogether. Like, with just "human blood tasted" we can guess where this is going.)
And I guess having opinions about how good human blood tastes is kinda weird, but knowing the guy it isn't the weirdest thing he's ever thought or done. He burns his own face because it's faster than shaving, for fuck's sake.
AND THEN IT GETS EVEN WORSE.
Tumblr media
MORE THAN USUAL?
WHAT DO YOU MEAN MORE THAN USUAL?????? WHAT THE FUCK.
And the worst part is that they weren't even vampire bats... they were fruit bats... Like he wasn't becoming a vampire or getting weird symptoms from the bite, his brain was just being weird about it.
Actually no, the worst part is that it implies that the desire to taste blood is something he gets... sometimes. Just sometimes though, no need to overanalyze it /j.

Au idea I'll probably never write:
Steve as seven au, BUT he escapes at the same time as El in season 1. They get separated after Benny's, when seven tells eleven to run and definitely kills a couple government agents to give her more time.
So the a plot of will being missing and Mike finding El? Standard canon except El is ALSO looking for her brother and is worried about him. She sees that he's mostly safe and tries to help find will but also insists she go to her brother soon.
B plot of barb and Nancy...idk I haven't really thought about how that'd work without Steve's kickback. Maybe they go to a party (like actual party not the five person hangout) together and get separated and no one notices barb disappear from the edge of the lawn. Idk
The C plot is seven, kinda bloody and definitely cold, wandering out into the middle of the street, and one Robin Buckley almost running him over with her bike. She immediately clocks "guy who seems pretty fucked up" about him, and offers him a ride to her house. But Robin has never been the most coordinated of people and biking with a(admittedly probably too skinny) teenage boy sitting in her package rack is hard, and combine that with a guy driving like the devil's after him, they end up swerving of the road.
Eddie steps out, apologizes profusely, and offers them a ride. seven is sceptical, especially when both of them pause when he tells them his name, but does end up in the van. He finally gets a chance to breathe once they get to the Buckleys', and Robin gets him some leftovers.
He sits in front of the tv set to a blank station, tucks his head into his shirt instead of blindfolds, and tries to see El.
He sees her older, with flowers braided through long hair, laughing. Too far. He sees her with short curls, a patterned button down, eating something in a cone beside a mustachioed man. Too far again. He sees her tiny, scared, holding his own small hand. Not far enough.
Finally, finally, he sees her as she knows her now, mostly, standing beside a group of children and in front of a monster in a large room.
Eddie and Robin have no idea why their new friend? Has turned the tv on to static and is hiding in his shirt, but figure he's had a rough day. He pops his head back out, blood dripping from his nose, and grins, telling them he knows where his sister will be.
Anyways blah blah blah El sees where people ARE Steve sees where people have been/will be (based on where/who they are right now. Futura is constantly in motion etc).
Idk season 2 would happen very similar as canon minus stancy break up (they never date and are just friends) (also Steve tells Robin and Eddie he and El are safe and they pass it on to the kids) El finds Kali, Steve fights demodogs, etc etc.
But I want a (pre?) season 3 scene where Robin and Steve are hanging out as soulmates do, door closed because they are discussing Sensitive Subjects (gay shit) and giggling like schoolgirls. Hopper, in all his disappointed dad glory, opens the door and starts in on a rant about keeping the door open three inches.
Steve, bitch that he is, just tilts his head to the side and says "but that is for when we are with people we date. I am not dating Robin."
Hopper, not yet picking up what's happening, sighs. "Kid. It's about propriety. You can't be alone with Robin, because what if you do start dating. Then it's. You have to set an example for El!"(it would be a nice move bringing up Older Brother Responsibility, except...well.)
"but we aren't. I am dating someone else?"
"still need the door open three inches, pal. When El is home, at least"(El is almost always home)
"we do! And you complain about the loud music!"
"wait. Who are you dating? I thought Nancy was dating Jonathan still. She barely comes over." Hopper please pick up what Steve is putting down oh my god.
(hop has forgotten Robin is there and she is trying very hard not to make noise but Steve keeps meeting her eye sometimes because dear god. truly an iconic moment in friendship history.)
"yeah obviously. Eddie comes over all the time, though."
"what does Ed- oooh. Ah. I see. That's why you keep the door open even though he complains."
Steve nods like Hopper is the dumbest man on the planet. He might just be. "Yes. Because you said El had to and she asked why I didn't have to so then I started to leave it open when Eddie was over. At least Eddie doesn't laugh at you to your face"
"Eddie laughs behind my back?"
"he said you didn't know we were dating but I told him of course you knew, the door is open three inches."
Hopper clasps Steve's shoulders and looks him in the eye. "Steve, I need you to keep telling him that. And not mention this very awkward conversation we had."
"because he was right."
"he doesn't need to know that."
That's all I got lmao (also check the tag ramble I added lol)

I wouldn’t fuck with the Courier on like a normal play through but especially not after they go through the Sierra Madre.
I know for a fact that after that, anytime someone tries to fuck with them they just give them “I will kill you with a hammer” stare. Cause in all fairness an experience like that would make me want to kill someone with a hammer too.

Another snippet from my Flipping the Coin au. Probably won’t make it into the actual fic, but I’ve been obsessed with these two and keep finding myself writing moments like this ^^
Mordred was sprawled over Arthur’s chest, with his thumb tucked in his mouth, and blue eyes serious as he listened to the story with the gravity of a judge. The two of them are slumped in their favorite armchair, the red velvet blotchy from numerous spilled drinks, sticky snacks, and misguided attempts at crafts. It was too warm for a fire, but in the dim evening, with the lone table lamp for light and the window cracked open for a breath of air, it took Arthur back to countless evenings spent in another room. One built of stone and lit only by candle flame.
Aloud, Arthur read, “Because he was the king…”
Personally, it wasn’t his favorite retelling, but Mordred had seen his name on the cover and insisted on hearing it, so he had conceded. Maybe he should’ve waited until Mordred was older before telling him that there were stories about characters who shared their names, but in these last few years, the events from long ago had been so close to mind Arthur had wanted to share it. He assumed Mordred would fixate on the sword fighting and tournaments. Instead, Mordred had picked a book that started with babies being sent out to sea.
“Two by two, he carried—“
Mordred pulled his thumb out of his mouth. “Did you really do that?”
“No.” Arthur marked his spot with a finger and ruffled the thick, black curls. Still damp from the bath, they were in need of a comb. And soon, if Arthur hoped to avoid dealing with tangles. “I never did that.” Dipping his fingers to tickle the back of Mordred’s neck, he smiled as Mordred giggled and tried to escape. “I could never.”
Sitting up, Mordred’s knobby limbs found all of Arthur’s soft spots as he settled knees first on top of Arthur’s chest. “If you had to, could you?”
“Would you,” Arthur automatically corrected.
“Would I?” Mordred’s pitch went comically high. “Nooooooo! Would you!”
Arthur gave him a look, one that Mordred immediately leaned in and mimicked with a giggle. “Would I, Arthur Penn, a man far removed from the ancient past, cast a boat full of babies into the ocean? Absolutely not.”
“What if Merlin told you to?”
He’d never had to. History hadn’t played out like that. But Arthur couldn’t tell his young son that he definitely knew it hadn’t happened because he couldn’t even explain his own past and all that entailed. All Mordred knew was that his father was named after King Arthur, so that meant he’d been named after Mordred. Because they were father and son and that was how it was supposed to be. He didn’t know that in another life they hadn’t been related and that the first time Merlin met Mordred he had helped save him.
“Nope.” Arthur popped the ‘p’. Out of Mordred’s sight, he set the book on the ground. It was time for a better story anyway. “Not even then.”
“What if Merlin did it?”
“Listen, let me tell you about the—“ He almost said ‘the Mordred I knew’ but luckily stopped. Instead, he says, “—the story I heard. It took place when Uther was still king. The first time Arthur met Mordred he was only a little boy…”
