Mickey Looking at Ian
(yet another Noel Fisher appreciation post)
No because LOOK at the way he's looking at Ian. But not just Ian, Ian's hair. Noel has made continuity with specific Mickey gestures, and that's just one of the many reasons why I adore Mickey as a character, and Noel as an actor. It's all of the subtleties of a human that make him such a raw character, fascinating to admire in terms of performance. It's becoming a broken record at this point but every time you watch a scene you just catch these little things that make him the standout character he is, thanks to Noel.
I present you three different scenes where Mickey's eyes flicker from Ian to his hair, almost like on instinct, cause this is the man of his dreams apparently. No one else does it for him like Ian. The insane amount of love and desire he has for his ginger soulmate is outstanding.
Tumblr media
« I like fucking carrot tops, like with the freckles and the pale skin... fucking alien looking?? »
Yeah you do Mick, yeah you do.
EDIT: Adding the scene from prison cause and someone in the tags mentioned it, it's just so cute, cause I keep thinking of Mickey nagging him to get the buzzcut again, so Ian's response to Fiona about the hair was an excuse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is so grossly in love with this redhead.

it is like. both fascinating and infuriating to me when people downplay Liam's overdose at the end of season four
1.) I don't expect to hold addicts 100% accountable for their behavior while on drugs i think there's some play in culpability. HOWEVER:
2.) I do think that people who completely write this off and excuse this for the benefit of Fiona are pretty racist or at least have the biggest racism blinders on BECAUSE
2a.) like point blank comparing this specific act of neglect to other acts of neglect (which were no doubt terrible and traumatizing) is one thing. acting like they are on the same level or that say, monica's neglect of Carl is somehow worse is literally just racism
2b.) The choice in drug, as my girlfriend pointed out for a white caregiver to expose a black toddler in her care to, is intentional. You are meant to think about the racial dynamic at play here in regards to conversations and behavior around drug use for the last fifty plus years. Liam is a fucking BABY and you still cannot muster pretend imaginary sympathy for him? How racist do you have to be to react to this arc in this way. Has it been over a month since you called a black drug user a cr*ckhead be honest
3.) Lip losing his shit on fiona while this was happening was not an example of him "perpetuating Frank's cycle of abuse omfg
3a.) I'm not going to say Lip's behavior towards Fiona while she was being incarcerated was completely justified of course but that was their little brother who they both love dearly who might die and Lip is justifiably freaking the fuck out. this is categorically not the same thing as an abusive father yelling in order to exercise control
3b.) Your baby brother does not have the power required to exercise an abusive dynamic over you. Of course he can replicate abusive behavior as anyone who was raised by an abusive parent or otherwise can. The line of thinking that Lip is "abusing" Fiona here shows an irresponsible and, in the wrong hands, entirely dangerous misunderstanding of how and when abusive dynamics come to be
3c.) that is not even Frank's brand of abuse. I can count on one hand the amount of times that Frank uses yelling as a tactic. The name of his game is manipulation and he usually exercises it by acting overly kind to the youngest gallaghers in order to get them to participate in his insane schemes. We see him doing this to Carl and Debbie and Liam and we even hear of him doing this to lip when he was younger. He only hits Ian once and we have reason to believe that is the only time he has hit one of his children. textually. He understands he can't control Lip Ian and Fiona by series start and as such he moslty leaves them alone and occasionally even pals around with them. We SEE him discard Debbie and Carl when they begin to question him and argue against his hair brained ethically heinous schemes
4.)the narrative is indeed asking you to engage with the theme of cycles of abuse being replicated by people who mean well. During this specific arc is asking you to do so with FIONA, not Lip, FIONA, who is liam's legal guardian who she is in this moment recklessly endangering. Even if you pretend the race thing isn't there (which is extremely difficult because its place in the narrative is, as I've pointed out, intentional) Fiona still allowed a baby to eat cocaine through her neglect. You are supposed to be thinking about this. You are supposed to be comparing i in your mind to Carl's childhood injuries and Frank using drugs as a sleep sedative for infants. At all times throughout the show you are meant to be examining how many steps away each character is from being "just as bad as frank"
I know fandom is specifically designed to stomp out critical analysis but omfg.

Alright so I’m on season 4 of Shameless and have officially accepted its hyperfixation status
So here’s my incredibly detailed thoughts on some of these jerks, enjoy
Lip
He’s the whole reason I got into Shameless. I’m trying to go for the full Jeremy Allen White IMDb page (11/27), so I was instantly attached to him, he’s my little shithead
He wants to take care of his family so so bad. He’s insanely loyal to the little ones specifically, but he doesn’t care about the long term, he’s more terrified about the short term. That’s why he’s so against college for a while: his absence would set them back for years before it ever gave them a leg up
Yes he’s absurdly knowledgeable, but until he knows he’s in real shit, he just digs his claws into whatever he wants to do. I’ve been thinking of it as a lack of impulse control, but he can shut it off, cut the smartassery, even the anger issues he can manage to some degree, but if he thinks he can dodge consequences, he’ll be as destructive as he wants
If he’s given a responsibility, he’s going to take care of it. That’s why early on, he dodged things about college and gets annoyed by Fiona trying to put that on him to support the rest of them, but eventually, he accepts that if he wants good things for his family, that’s the way to do it. It’s also why he goes all in, dropping out and everything, when Karen’s pregnant because he thinks it’s his responsibility.
He’s so so latched on to Karen in a way that’s really interesting to me. It’s clear he wanted an actual relationship with her, but her turning around and fucking Frank really did mess Lip up as Kevin said. He went so all in with the baby and that loss fucked him up so bad that it instantly gives him commitment issues. He didn’t seem bothered by Mandy until Kevin called her his “ghetto wife” and Lip freaked out and tried to get as distant from her as he could
But now in season 4, he takes taking care of Liam and the other kids as his responsibility along with going to MIT to support everyone financially. He puts his everything into those too, but I’m wondering how much responsibility he can take before his destructive impulses ruin something for him
Debbie
All of you need to calm the fuck down, she’s my baby
She cares too hard. She hasn’t started hiding it like her older siblings have, and it hurts to watch her forgive and forgive and forgive until she’s beating the shit out of Frank with a bag of bar soaps, and then start forgiving again but never really getting over it
She wants to follow in Fiona’s footsteps so so bad, destroying herself for others when she’s still so little
She babysits the whole summer then gets outcast the whole school year. It’s a lot to have on your shoulders, and I almost get relieved when she complains about boy problems or not getting her period yet because that’s her getting to be a normal preteen girl
It’s always fascinating to me when she gets violent. We think of sensitive as being nonviolent, but people can hurt her more easily than they can others, and it’s not great, but it’s understandable to want them to hurt back
She changes a lot for season 4, but even in trying to distance herself from Fiona, she’s still following in her footsteps. After so many years of rejection, she needs to be wanted so so bad by whoever will give it to her. One of the only characters I actively hate is Matty for pulling some will they won’t they shit with her. Please just cut her off dude. But I can see her starting to fake nonchalance toward her family while reaching out for anyone to give her what they won’t, and it’s devastating what everything is starting to do to her
Ian
He’s kind of best to talk about before and after he left home
Before, he sort of got lost in whatever came up to him. Kash wanted him, so he became loyal to Kash, always trying to be more mature than he should have to be and being a pillar of support for him at 15. Then, Mickey comes along, and he gets pulled into him too, fighting to get closer and closer. Happens with Ned too I think when Mickey’s in juvie for a bit, playing mature again. To be a Gallagher is to be desperate, and Ian wants sex from whatever guy will have him
In his family, he’s much more quiet, always standing beside Lip and letting him do the talking. Even if he flips him off whenever he can, Ian doesn’t really fight back against Frank. He never tells anyone what’s going on with him because he knows everything is kind of a mess, and doesn’t want anyone to tell him to stop. He doesn’t want to go against what his family wants from him so he hides it when he does
Something I really like about his earlier seasons characterization is that he’s kinda rough and tumble manly army guy that mixes perfectly with his being gay. Watching him be with someone that’s a lot like him, that he gets to roughhouse with and share this particular brand of strength and masculinity or die type of culture, is so fascinating to watch. To quote Jeremy Allen White, “Whenever they beat the shit out of each other and then fuck, that’s like- that’s awesome.”
And then, when Mickey gets married and he only learns about the engagement from Mandy, that everything he put into Mickey gets fucked over, and the only person he’s ever felt this connected to has rejected him. He can’t deal with seeing him, so he does anything he can think of to get himself into the army and away from everything here that has hurt him
Now for season 4 Ian. He’s been so quiet, so bound to never disappointing anyone that when he starts experiencing bipolar symptoms, he leans hard into it right away. He tries to steal a helicopter, he’s done being controlled by others, he’s going to run away and be as free as he can get
He wants sex, so he’s going to have as much of it as possible. He feels in control even if he isn’t. He goes and goes and goes. He works out all morning then fucks all night, he’s high out of his mind, and he still has too much energy. He decides this is what freedom is
When his family and Mickey start trying to drag him back home, he tries to dig his heels in. He feels good and in control here, so why should he go back. When he finally does head home, he tries to keep his rush going, going for runs and making pancakes before the sun comes up, but when he sees Mickey with his son and his wife, he starts to spiral
Ian wants him to be free like he is, to feel as good as he did
Mickey coming out was a massive risk, much bigger than it ever was for Ian, and that sacrifice gets Ian to set aside his betrayal again and protect Mickey. With all his army muscle and manic energy, he goes apeshit on Terry Milkovich, not holding back in any way
But the next day, his months of going and going and going finally catch up him and throws his ass fully into a depressive episode
So yeah, I want to do tier lists with them, but no categories fully describe my feelings toward them. I worry about them. I care about them. I’m scared for the next time they’ll fuck up. The most interesting thing for a character to be is desperate, and they all need something so so bad, even if it’s just enough money to keep the lights on. I’ll probably do more characters, they’re all fascinating

i wanted to talk about something that fascinated me about kamen's character in scavenger's reign. so spoilers for episode 4.
it is precisely this scene
we've mainly seen kamen in the conditions of having to survive in an alien planet and a bit of how he was in the demeter. but he is so different in this scene
his expression, his gestures, his voice, his hands. its all sooo soft. he seems to still be just talking about himself, which seems like a big thing in their relationship
if that softness is natural and not some fucked up manipulation technique, it says a lot about his relationship with fiona: how he is this "vulnerable" (i dont know how to put any of this into the right words, but i hope you get it) around her and maybe shows the trust he has with her
i think it makes the character very interesting. this scene made me feel pretty weird. specially since it comes right after this

inchrested actually to compare shameless characters thru the lens of who happens 2 really like kids... fiona kind of doesn't. in general. despite taking disproportionately good care of kids As a kid. but like so she doesn't want bad things to happen but i think it's very involuntary when she's charmed by babies & she really wishes they'd be able to handle their own shit. + the fact she grows later to resent being needed despite how badly she emotionally needs to be needed. vs lip and ian and debbie being the way they are.
maybe misogyny means people don't notice debbie liking kids as much as a character trait bc it's assumed default for a girl but from the get go she has this intense seriousness with the baby doll in s1 ("ginger kept me up all night with diarrheaaaaa" was funny as fuck for being so Unnecessary but also so telling) that follows through.. that is Not matched in other female characters so it's obviously a debbie thing not a misogyny in writing thing.
also like generally i agree that debbie becoming a teen mom on purpose wasn't a great idea but it is so fascinating for being Her choice on Purpose. she's a very impatient person too. Also you can't tell people Not to have kids that's fucked up.
really enjoy v's weird thing about wanting her own children being like. not such a direct instinct but she wants that life with kevin and she Can love her kids but it's not natural and easy. it's a lil tough to watch her Not get it bc i also worry about babies but i think a smart choice. also to contrast to kevin who's such a "i can't wait to teach them to throw a football" type dude
^also this with the gender on Guys Who Want Kids... i genuinely think it's super sweet i'm very charmed by guys who are hyped to be dads (& i kind of think kids can tell when a parent really really wanted them vs just being ok with it) but there's also ways that that's informed by misogyny & something women don't get credit for because it's Expected. i get that tami was a late seasons addition and v was busy but i wonder if she'd feel better if she knew she wasn't the first person we knew who'd been through this.
& the sense that svetlana Gets it easily when it comes to caring abt kids but i don't think has a really innate urge to Be A Parent. would've liked to hear if she'd been interested in having kids before she was introduced but i think the ambiguity also does something for her. bc she's really not the linger in the past type like well this wasn't planned but it's the Case now. & the way she's really not emotionally moved abt her surrogacy the way carol was. like her love for yevgeny being immediate in that way when he obviously wasn't planned but being able to disconnect from that other kid. & the way she's worried about amy and gemma not really seeming Emotional About Kids motivated but "dude they're just kids" motivated. fun that svetlanas capacity both for kindness and for underhandedness come from pragmatism
ummm i think carls interesting for his disinterest in babies while also being a very protective Person. so it's directed towards like liam but also to like anyone he thinks like. sort of needs it or didnt do anything wrong esp. anyone who is kind towards him. so. trans kid i forget if was named (also: carl says he didnt mean to defend a trans person or didnt know it didnt mean transfer to school but follows that up defending a trans woman later, meaning that was a lie and he did know? to protect himself or his image from like the idea that someone thinks he cares about trans people?🤔🤔🤔) & ester. something something, carl having a stronger apparent fondness for old people and debbie liking both babies and old people which i think is more common
anywayyyyy. kind of cool how mandy has no understanding of kids but seems to reject the idea of Not caring or wanting your own so outright when it comes to her resentment of karen (also could be Bitch eating crackers syndrome) & her weird like. attitude abt mickey getting shotgun married to annoyance at his disconnect from attending svetlana in the hospital even though she knows by then he's gay & maybe inferred that the circumstances were Shit. & she relates well to younger characters but in a way that maybe she's treating debbie Too much like a peer bc she can't separate "there's a young girl" from "this person is like me" <- maybe also ties into her dislike of karen. sort of a "why are you not acting the way i think i would ideally in that situation" bc she doesn't understand that karen is different from her. hm. i don't think she'd want kids at all but i think her ego can't allow her to see that she would be anything other than hypothetically great with kids even with no evidence just bc she thinks that's how she's supposed to be. -> the fact that she thinks mickey should care more about yevgeny but also she doesn't give a fuuuuuck about yevgeny contrasted to how ian is about having a niece or nephew. Cool
also. fun how mickey is fond of kids. it gets overshadowed by ian being mr baby fever & mickey being so stressed with the idea of his Own current or hypothetical future child(ren) but he likes them. always slightly offended when people imply that he's so fond of franny because she's a redhead like ian or some shit when like... debbie is his friend. he likes kids. he's entertained by people being rambunctious and loud and franny is a Very rambunctious child. it's not like ian invented red hair or anything 😭 debbie and franny are very much their own people

Ok so continuing on the head canons abt "hoo characters but theyre peculiar" the one for today is Annabeth!! I love her sm so imma have fun staying up to do this (aiming for staying up to at least 1am bc I've decided that my sleep schedule isn't fucked enough)
So first,backstory!!
Ok so basically her mom just left her dad without knowing she was pregnant, so when her mom found out after she had Annabeth she just left her on Annie's dad's doorstep. Anyways after her biological mom left her, her dad married another women who already had 2 kids. The women was like that mean but she never believed anything Annabeth said like that she had nightmares or that she sometimes saw random shadows and stuff like that. So anyways long story short when she was 7 she ran away and miss p found her and took her in .
More stuff now/powers/headcanons
Ok so for Annabeth its kinda complicated
Bc she's like the only one who doesn't have a actual power
So we're gonna make one that fits her (I saw someone give an oc this power and I love it)
So what her peculiar is, is that she can create any weapon from the materials around her
Which sounds like something Leo would have but imma give it to her bc she loves designing stuff!
This would also rlly come in handy IN LIKE EVERY BOOK BC THEY NEVER HAVE WEAPONS
Anyways
Miss P loves her
Emma and her are like kinda mutual
Claire and Olive love her
Enoch and her have a mutual respect for eachother but they never rlly talk to each other
Her and Horace are besties. I have no reason I just feel like they would be
Fiona and Annie are also besties bc Annabeth loves to talk abt architecture and stuff and Fiona already listens to Hugh and Millard ramble on so she's fine with it (I feel like Fiona is the kind of person that is like ur others are happy she's happy or like she doesn't like to talk abt herself but loves to hear abt others. )
hugh and her are pretty good friends actually! Annabeth made a beehive for Hugh's bees and they've been friends ever since
annabeth and Millard are literally the best of besties and I don't think I need to explain
When Jacob arrived she was absolutely fascinated by the modern world
And her reaction to Jacob: she literally searched him like a cat, examining his clothes and stuff
bromwyn is hella over protective of Annie as well
Victor and her were rlly good friends before he died
She's hella confused on what Emma and Jacobs relationship status is bc they keep saying their taking a break from dating and then the next day they're making out (me 2 Annie)
Fugh is her otp and she always squeals whenever she sees they together lol
She still has ADHD and is still rlly good at planing :)

mercymorn the first
send me a character and i’ll list:
favorite thing about them: mercymorn victim of misogyny 10 thousand years post civilization as we know it i see you and i recognize your struggle... i love her absolute insistence on being consistently irritating to the people who refuse to give her dignity despite her equal intellectual and necromantic ability, she's arguably the most human of the lyctors and she was hashtag keeping it real even pre resurrection. i completely understand why she is the way she is, if i had to spend that long with podcast dudebro 1 and 2 i would lose my fucking marbles. above all else i like that even after centuries of immortality she still cares about the things she really cares about, even if its in her own peculiar way. i also love and respect her commitment to her various bits
least favorite thing about them: i don't really spend enough time thinking about her to really dislike much about her, sorry. i think a lot of people mischaracterize her as some sort of girlboss but she's just as corrupted and pathetic as the rest of the lyctors so i guess my moderate ambient dislike of them extends to her
favorite line: everything she says kills me so i have several: "alecto! alecto! alecto!" (it's just cool and impactful shoutout repetition) specifically the end of the acid rant: "i often think about this." "you’re on amphetamines. you are on coke. you are on amphetamines and coke"
brOTP: her and ianthe should not be allowed in the same room but it is really funny when they are
OTP: i neeeeed to know more about her and cristabel
nOTP: i don't really care because all of her relationships are toxic you can't live for ten thousand years and be normal about your relationships. i guess i don't really care about her and augustine but it's fascinating for sure. like bugs
random headcanon: she seems like she would be really into complicated cocktails i think she'd fuck with an espresso martini... also i think pre-resurrection she had an iguana
unpopular opinion: i don't have any
song i associate with them: under the table by fiona apple, you were right by built to spill, dead disco by metric
favorite picture of them: this fanart! https://www.tumblr.com/green446004/745313823836258304/the-saint-of-joy-prints-patreon?source=share

Cam watches Shameless UK (so you don't have to)
TLDR STATS:
similarity to shameless US: 99% it's almost word for word only replace Canada with France
was mickey in this episode? No
who was the main Gallagher this episode? Frank
who was MY favorite character this episode? Hmmm probably Debbie, tied with Kev.
Final McAvoy Count: 8
Frank speeches: 3.5
ONWARD!!!!
Season 1 Episode 2
Okay so franks iconic speech from episode one where he goes through each kid happens at the beginning of each episode
No meta recap jokes tho
Oooh Fiona narration
MCAVOY x1
The alibi is called the jockey lmao
The Gallagher's are watching the news I respect it
Debbie being willing to hit Frank with a leg of lamb lmao.
I miss William h Macy
MCAVOY x2
Some of the editing on this show is seriously weird
"ey you seen my dad? No SINCE Diana died-" 😂
Vee and Kev are hilarious
MCAVOY x3
Kevs not quite as much of a himbo as he is in America so far
MCAVOY x4
I wonder... If he didn't take him to Canada...
......
Is Frank in fucking Scotland or some shit
There's BIG fuck cops energy here and this is from 2004
FRANK iS IN FRANCE LMAOOOOOOOO
Seriously the editing in this show is wild
MCAVOY x5
Fiona kicked his ASS lmao and he deserved him
Debbie has only had like three lines again but she did get to scream her ass off.
Ah tony lmao
MCAVOY x6
I wonder if Debbie has the same arc as she does in America
MCAVOY x7
Frank pisses me off more than American Frank...
According to some friends on my discord server after season 8 the show starts focusing on this version of the milkoviches and tbh I'm fascinated by that idea.
This is a long ass Frank speech
Ah Eddie, you do this to yourself
I STILL miss joan cusack
In the preview for this episode they showed sheilas more graphic side...
Frank sounds quite a lot like David Tennant's British accent if David Tennant slurred every third word
I'm gonna start skipping the sex scenes I think
Oh yeah sheilas a nut
MCAVOY x8
Oh good lord
Frank and Sheila were an underrated dynamic
Seriously this show is wild

actually fuck it ik literally no one asked but here r some concepts for the fucked up roommates au aka scourge and fiona become roomies w surge and kit (mostly just some background info on how the wound up in the idwverse + the characters relationships/dynamics w each other)
so BASICALLY im thinking that the super genesis wave that forced the archie comics to reboot didnt actually DESTROY the multiverse, or at least not all of it; but it did cause the multiverse to shatter, and for certain characters to get scattered around and wind up in universes that r not their own. but ofc, scourge and fiona are used to this. what theyre NOT used to is not being in control of their own dimension-hopping and being unable to get back, especially since their homeworld as they knew it was essentially destroyed. they have nowhere else to go and just wander around trying to figure out where they are. ofc, when they find out that sonic exists in this world too, they become EXTREMELY annoyed. scourge in particular wants revenge, and if he cant have revenge on archie!sonic, he may as well have revenge on this worlds sonic.
thats when they somehow stumble across surge and kit (havent figured out how exactly they meet yet lol) and quickly find out they share the same goal. they actually get into a fight at first, but end up having to call it a draw due to their similar strengths. they eventually get to talking abt how much they fucking hate sonic and this leads to them deciding to team up--for now.
surge is, at first, frustrated to learn that theres another sonic. but ofc, when he tells her abt his world and what hes trying to accomplish, she realizes how similar they are and agrees to form a team w him. theyre basically frienemies and each of them plans to betray the other at some point since they each want to be the one to kill sonic, but for now theyre making ends meet. meanwhile, surge and fiona have kind of a weird flirty thing going on. at first, surge isnt sure how to respond to fiona flirting with her, since thats never happened to her before, but she quickly starts to return the flirting simply bc it pisses scourge off. this has lead to her and scourge getting into more than a few fights, but it never escalates to anything super devastating....at least, not yet it hasnt.
scourge, as i said before, is primarily motivated by revenge. he knows he most likely wont be able to return to his homeworld, or the world that archie!sonic comes from, so hes decided to make lemons into lemonade and try a fresh start w a new quest for power. he respects surge’s abilities and thinks its hilarious how she almost killed sonic. he sees her as a powerful ally, even if, again, he plans on betraying her once he gets close to killing sonic. it pisses him off how she and fiona flirt with each other tho, but fiona assures him its just teasing and that shes still loyal to him. he mostly ignores kit, seeing him as a doormat who just happens to have a very useful power. he knows not to mess w him in front of surge, and mostly just talks to her abt anything he might want kit to know. he doesnt see kit as being as important as surge and views him more as an asset than anything else.
fiona is fascinated by this new world and, like scourge, wants an opportunity to try again at the whole “taking over the multiverse” thing. shes largely amused by surge and kit as a group, but has different opinions on each of them individually. she flirts with surge mostly bc she likes to make scourge jealous (bc shes a toxic girlboss and likes when hes possessive over her), but she would be lying if she said she didnt have at least some romantic interest in her. but she assures scourge that shes still loyal, and she has no plans to actually act on her interest in surge beyond playful teasing. kit, however, she is the most amused by. she likes to bully him (behind surges back ofc) bc he reminds her of tails--or, at least, her universe’s version of tails, when she knew him. she often calls him things like “twerp” and “brat” and talks down to him. she knows kit wont tell on her bc he doesnt want to ruin the alliance bc its important to surge, and she exploits that. unknown to surge and kit, shes been trying to search for the rest of the destructix, but she hasnt had any luck in finding them; its currently unknown whether they even survived the super genesis wave, let alone wound up in the same universe as them.
kit does not like scourge and fiona, but bc surge doesnt seem to mind them, he ofc does nothing abt his dislike of them bc he doesnt want to disappoint surge. hes better at brushing off scourge’s treatment of him bc he doesnt go out of his way to bully him like fiona does. hes especially nervous abt fiona, but he again wont tell surge abt her behavior bc he knows surge is romantically interested in her. overall he distrusts scourge and fiona heavily, but bc he trusts surge more than anyone else in the world, he puts his faith in her, does what she says, and tries his best to toughen up and ignore their rudeness. poor kit is just kind of the doormat of the group unfortunately :(

First of all, Nosho‘s twin, I am very grateful for you sharing your cod lore knowledge with me. 💗
I tried to come up with a cute nickname for you, but all I came up with was Nosho and Nushi, but then unfortunately I realized it sounds almost like muschi and I am very very sorry. Can you help me out and pick a nickname I can call you? Again I am very sorry
Second of all, THIS IS FASCINATING. The world building! The characters! Their back story! Incredible
I feel like I could see both Ian and Mickey in both. But I have to say that the whole killing ghost’s entire family makes me lean into Ian=ghost simply because I don’t see Mickey going full ptsd from his family dying, but I can totally see Ian losing it and dedicating his life to complete the task he got. Also the Mohawk Soap got is so Mickey.
Mickey has always been great at scams and figuring an escape route so I think it’s not a far stretch for him to be Soap, you know?
Nosho’s twin I need clarification please- fandom tends to portray him as the calm one -> ghost (aka Ian so far) is the calm one but touch repulsed and soap (aka Mickey so far) is touch starved? (I mean in canon Mickey both repulsed but incredible touch starved). What do we know about Soap’s background? Why did he join this force?
Okay Nosho hear me out - I kinda like Ian joining the army in s3 post wedding , Mickey is heart broken, gets in trouble, gets in prison, escape prison to Mexico , works for cartel, hears about Ian’s “death” , loses his mind and talks to the FBI because he doesn’t believe Ian is dead (?) someone notices his potential and offers him to become a part of this special force and reunites him with Ian? with the energy of the prison reunion scene. Maybe I don’t know enough about the character to know if this would fit their story, but I tried ✌🏻
Ian losing the Gallaghers would make him so dedicated to the force that he might lose some of his Ian qualities, you know? And Mickey would remind him to be human? To feel something? To love someone? Is this too sappy for a violent video game? Probably
My issues- Soap is the sunshiniest of the group. this clashes with my theory that Soap is Mickey, because Ian is a literal walking talking ray of fucking sunshine. However, if we think s11 Ian and Mickey, I could get convinces with a bit of "Oh yay we're getting pizza? I'm starving!" vibe and a sprinkle of the great gun cleaning façade...
Ghost is extremely keen on his privacy -> Does this work for Ian play what cool Gallagher? Hmm. I guess Ian did hide being gay / Kash / being with Mickey very well. I am not sure if that's just the vibe I'm getting or if it's true but Ghost is higher up than Soap? He's giving a lot of Maverick vibes, and kinda Gay Jesus vibes.
SOS Nosho’s twin! Has Soap seen Ghost’s face in cod canon?
Also please can I hear more about alejandro x rudolpho? Or are they like a side ship without much info / backstory?
- no clue why it dawned on me, but i could picture jimmy-steve in here somewhere. or the brother of cup guy, the one who gave fiona the coke? Hahaha I feel like Jimmy-Steve doesn't stand a chance next to these guys! What do you think he would do in this force? I LOVE how collectively no one remembers the cup guy's name! I feel like I don't understand what people do besides kill so give me more info and we'll figure their roll out hahaha svetlana as some iteration of valeria? Yep yep. it's stealling the alibi all over again.
mickey getting kidnapped in an ambush? ian raising all heavens and hells to a) find him, b) get back at those who got ahold of him in the first place? sold, sold and sold. Ian would stop at nothing.
Also I saw this TikTok (bromance my ass, this is fine flirting if I’ve ever seen it!) the jokes 😩 (guest womb anyone?)
Tumblr media
i gotta head to the store and run some errands, in the meanwhile-
are we thinking the same? 👀
I-, I didnt know it was-, I’m-… Nosho. I know nothing about call of duty, like literally nothing. And now I discovered there’s a gay lore to cod? Why the fuck didn’t anybody tell me? I guess all my friends are fucking fake bitches because I should have been notified long fucking time ago.
Please tell me everything I need to know about Soap(?) and Johnny(?) apparently known as ghostsoap (?) soapghost (?) I just got suggestions like this and holy shit. Ghost Ian and soap Mickey?
ps is soap wearing a choker or am I imagining?

I am so close to writing a pretentious essay on the complexity of fiona’s character with citations and a thesis statement and everything and. yet I can’t gather the motivation to complete any of my missing physics assignments <3

Hey guys, here is Fiona Dourif cause I have found myself thinking about Chucky lately. The killer doll and the franchise around him, which started as Child's Play but then due to rights issues dropped that name and became the whatever of Chucky, a good decision either way since when I was a kid the killers were the important thing. Oh, we all knew the right name but kids wanted to see a Jason movie or a Freddy movie. We know what the point is so just making Chucky movies have Chucky in the name was smart. Also interesting is that it is a franchise driven by one man's vision really, a strange thing in any long running movie series but especially horror. It's not perfect, a lot of ups and downs but it does make it a fascinating artifact. Anyway, that got me thinking about Fiona Dourif who didn't show up until Cult of Chucky and I know I have posted her before and if I were to guess it would be after seeing that because she was fantastic in it. Honestly, she's just really good in everything I have seen. It might be genetic, her dad is an Oscar Nominee after all (oh, if you don't know, Chucky, the killer doll, is and always has been played by an Oscar Nominee) and like her dad she is mainly a character actor no one notices or thinks about and that strikes me as a shame cause she's been so good in what I have seen her in. Now, she's in a lot, so it isn't like she's hurting for work but I do think someone whose only really starring roles involve CHucky, who is again, a killer doll, means she is likely to go mostly unappreciated. Of course, there's a lot of that cause Jennifer Tilly is maybe the greatest thing in the world in these movies and I will love her forever because of how game and how all in she is but no one is throwing nominations at her either. But she did get her Oscar nom as well before she became the Bride of Chucky. Anyway, Fiona Dourif is also not just talented, I always think she is really attractive. Thus I am posting her. Today I want to fuck Fiona Dourif.

Hello! What are your thoughts on the conversation Baz had with Nicodemus towards the end of AWTWB about drinking human blood vs. animal blood. Do you think hair loss is a legit thing, or do you think Nico said that to make Baz paranoid? Also, do you think that because if this, Bas will start drinking human blood?
thanks for the ask @curious-writer-nobody! I am excited to talk about this one, so apologies in advance for getting wordy!
I think the conversations Baz has with Nicodemus are fascinating in the context of what he learned from Lamb in Las Vegas and also as an example of love finding a way, even twenty years later, between Nico and Fiona. The vampire hunter and the vampire.
The question of immortality has been weighing on Baz. He's referenced it at various times through the series, but I think Wayward Son gave him proof with Lamb and that shook him. He knows so little about the inner workings of being a vampire. He received valuable knowledge from Lamb (the fact that Baz can eat and does so on multiple occasions, with other people present, in AWTWB honestly made me tear up more than once) but he didn't get the whole story. Not about Turning, not about "sipping", not about the details of immortality.
Nicodemus is an interesting character for a great many reasons that I won't get into right now, but the idea of him becoming part of Baz's family with his marriage to Fiona brings a whole new context to their relationship. He's a defanged vampire and a mage who's been stricken from the Book. But he's still a vampire and a mage. Like Baz.
Baz may not want to ask him the questions that burn inside of him but he does in this instance and I have a feeling he may do so again in the future. As he gets to know Nicodemus and interact with him more, he may find a different sort of "mentor" in him. One who keenly understands the world Baz lives in and what it means to be in a relationship with someone who's not a vampire.
So let’s look at the conversation you referenced in your ask:
“I’m not gonna Turn your aunty,” Nico says. “Is that what you’re worried about? If I were gonna Turn Fiona, I woulda done it already. I wouldn’t put a scratch on her.”
“That’s cold comfort for all the people you murder.”
“I don’t—” He sets his tea down, and pulls an e-cigarette out of his pocket. He takes a hit off it. “I’m done with all that. Fi’s made me go vegan.””
“Vegan?” I say, genuinely surprised.
He rolls his hand in the air. “You know … Rats, cats, bats. Nothing that talks back to me. I feel like shit, and now I can look forward to losing my hair, but I reckon it doesn’t matter. Don’t wanna live forever without Fiona, at any rate.”
I sit up. What does he—
Does that mean—
I refuse to ask Nicodemus Petty any vampire questions. But …
“Do you mean…” I say, “that it affects you? Not having … people?”
“You fucking with me?” He sneers. “You think you can find immortality at the bottom of, what the shit, a squirrel?”
That’s a lot of info in one short interaction.
So the part Baz hones in on is the bit on the aging. He’s mentioned already that Nico looks about 20 and Baz knows he’s close to 40 in reality. He gets the info here that immortality isn’t innate for vampires. It’s a result of the intake of human blood. The aging process slows down with that intake. And even more surprisingly aging starts back up again with a lack of human blood.
This is a huge deal. It’s a key piece of the puzzle for Baz.
I think Nico is taking the piss about the hair loss. For all we know his family has a history of male pattern baldness and he knows he’s doomed once he lets himself start aging. He’s just grousing about it, I think.
As for your other question: I don’t think this will make Baz drink human blood. Baz wants to spend his life with Simon. In my view he has no interest in immortality–no interest in a life without Simon in it. Baz has a recurring recoil when Simon mentions him drinking his blood. He’s asked Simon not to bring it up again and he seems to be firm on that request. Baz very much ties his humanity into the act of refraining from drinking human blood. It’s inextricably tied to his issues of self-loathing and self-worth and how he manages his feelings about this monstrous side of him.
But going along with that question about drinking human blood in a general sense. It seems to me from what Nico says that it’s a steady intake of human blood that determines the immortality. Not a single sip, but a sustained diet of it. Like the Las Vegas vampires. Like Lamb.
But there is an interesting bit of dialogue between Baz and Fiona that I’ve not seen mentioned anywhere that I would like to highlight:
“I was angry,” she says. “But the truth is . . . he makes me happy. He always did.” She huffs. “Are you going to turn me in?”
“Does he still drink people?”
“No…” She rocks her head from side to side, like she’s equivocating. “Not in the traditional sense.”
Not in the traditional sense.
What does that mean? This is a bit of a qualified “no” rather than a full-stop “no.” She’s not saying he’s gone vegan either. Nico says that later. This is a direct question about drinking people and Baz uses the word equivocating in regard to his description of Fiona here. Meaning it may be a deliberately ambiguous statement she’s making. Why would that be? Maybe Nico doesn’t drink people anymore but perhaps he intermittently has access to a person?
One specific person.
I’m probably reading way too much into this sentence and the way she phrases it, but it is something to ponder.
Then again, I wouldn’t put a blood bank heist past Fiona.

Your trevor meta is making me realize how weird it is that the writers and cast were so insistent that mickey wasn't coming back, because I don't think theyve ever really known what to do with ian's story without him. They put him in these lukewarm relationships and tell us they're so much better and healthier, but then have ian straight up admit that he still loves mickey and nobody else has made him feel the same way. How do they set that up and then have him go back to trevor? They set up ian moving on with "I'm not that person anymore" and follow up with season 8. It's like okay...who he is now is gay Jesus? Lmao. He's always been the shows forgotten middle child and after they wrote mickey off "for good" they could have taken him in a million directions but they chose one so shitty it basically made cam leave lmao. Sometimes it feels like fan insistence kind of forced mickey back but in actuality, the seasons where he's gone just hammer home that he was always the inevitable end to ian's story. So bizarre how little the showrunners understand their own story sometimes.
Ok. I’m going to be a little more Doylist here than I usually am, because we’re talking about what the writers are thinking. And I’m also going to take this opportunity to share this fascinating article from the AV Club in 2016: When Fan Engagement Goes Wrong. Everyone beware, it contains significant spoilers for The 100. But it’s also largely about Gallavich, the fact that online promotion of Shameless leaned hard into the popularity of the couple, and were up against it when Noel left. I’ll quote:
“[Supervising Producer Shelia] Callaghan’s choice to be honest and straightforward when engaging with fans is admirable, and yet also on some level futile. She can’t tell them exactly why Fisher chose to leave, she is (logically) unwilling to spoil future storylines outright, and she can only speak her own mind as part of a collaborative process over which she holds only some influence. So while many fans respect her effort to maintain the connection to this now marginalized community, others attack, reinforcing that attempting to manage these situations is a full-time job that no one has been properly trained for.”
This article links some tweets and the one I find the most interesting is this one:
“But the actor left.  So...what to do? Have them just break up?? Felt way less true to me than a forced separation!”
That tweet is from Krista Vernoff, who wanted to convey that they tried really hard to come up with what they do with Ian now that he’d lost Mickey. And I’m sure they did try really hard. And.... People hated it. Mostly.
Here’s what I think, based on what I’ve read and the interviews I’ve seen, on deleted tweets and Tumblr rumours and YouTube clips: The show didn’t want Mickey to leave the canvas. At all. Noel wanted more money. The show could not come up with both that money and the money they needed for everyone else. The show let him go. And hoped they could solve the creative problem their budgetary problem had dumped in their lap.
I actually think Ian’s story in season six is decent. I miss Mickey, of course. I find the last scene with him really painful -- but it’s not painful because the show is trying to diminish him. They write and then cut together a scene where Mickey is DEMONSTRATIVELY still deeply in love with Ian. He’s carved his name in his chest. He is looking at Ian like he’s the most beautiful creature ever given breath. And Ian can barely meet his gaze. They tell us Mickey is being sent away for 16 years but when we see the last of Mickey Milkovich in season six I think “God, this is so sad. They love each other so much and this is so fucked up.”
I do NOT think “We are NEVER EVER EVER getting back together.”
The show always knew what it had with Ian and Mickey. They leaned into it promotionally. They gave meaty storylines to the characters, particularly given that Ian was the fourth lead on a family dramedy built around six children. John Wells replaced Aaron Sorkin on The West Wing. He knows how hard it is to follow a phenomenon.
The more I think about it, honestly? I don’t think they tried. I think they knew that they couldn’t bring in Mickey Milkovich, the sequel in season six, so they brought in Caleb. And maybe they meant for him to be a LITTLE more viable than he was... but I think there’s a pretty good chance they were just throwing something at the wall to see if it stuck, while being fully aware that the important storyline in season six was getting Ian from despair to a fulfilling career. Caleb was just there as a catalyst.
Season seven if more interesting, because Trevor is brought on and it’s very much... “Hey, let’s do something new. Let’s bring on a transmasc character and put him into a relationship with Ian and explore those complications.”
“Great! Put it up on the board!”
“Also. Let’s call Noel Fisher’s people and see what we can work out because we can do better with Mickey’s send off and people are yelling at me on the street about it.”
Quite honestly, these are not equal tasks for his writer’s room. You have one story -- Create a whole ass new character. The only thing we know is that he’s trans. Figure out the romance from there. You have six episodes to get them together as an established couple.
Then: Bring back the well-established and beloved character for an epic romantic two-episode arc where he reunites with his true love and they run away together and then ultimately realize it cannot be, and say goodbye and it all feels like I Will Always Love You should be playing in the background. They actors worked together for five years. They have a great professional partnership. They like working together. They have a ton of history so there’s lots of juicy subtext. The longing and sexual tension comes pre-established. See what you can do.
HOW do you make both those things work out so that they are equal? You need lightening to strike. And that already happened on How I Met Your Mother. They squandered their good luck and now there is none left for Shameless. I do not disparage Elliot Fletcher at all when I say that for Trevor and Ian to really work he’d have had to have come with scorching chemistry with Cam, rich material that really gave them a good opportunity to build rapport between the characters, and A wizard standing by to cast spells in the wings. They had SIX episodes, a pretty average connection between the actors, and the “these are the LGBTQ+ people in your neighbourhood” scene.
I just can’t believe that someone with as many years of TV writing under his belt as John Wells has expected that to work. He hoped the Trevor story might be good, and was certainly going to break some ground in terms of telling trans stories. And the Mickey story was going to be the highlight, because he knew people wanted it and he also knew that they’d had something pretty special to start with. Which is why people were yelling at him at Comic-Con. I DO think he hoped it might placate fans a bit. But... he wasn’t going to completely close the door on Mickey this time, either.
So... I don’t really think the show every intended to write Mickey off “for good”. I think they wrote him off “for now, and we’ll see what happens...” -- and they did that with Karen, Shelia, Jody, Steve and Fiona, too. They only brought a few of those people back... They brought Mickey back three times. They ended Gallavich FOUR times. Noel is in ever season except eight. I don’t think they wanted Mickey gone -- but I KNOW the fans also made it pretty hard for them not to know his value, so absolutely I think that played a role. But when you create something people love and you get that lightening in a bottle like they did with this story, I think writers are always going to be excited to get that back. They like praise! They like people to be excited about their show. And Gallavich was always one of the things that got people excited about Shameless.
I think they also wanted Gay Jesus to be a great story. But that’s why the lightening in the bottle is so valuable. You can’t just get it anywhere.

did no one send you zuko for the ask game? cause uh zuko
ironically you are the first to say zuko for the ask game <3
a song that reminds me of them: i have SO MANY. both taob playlists and a whole zuko playlist how could you do this to me. my main ones (and this is killing me to narrow down) are 'broken crown' by mumford and sons, 'heirloom' by sleeping at last, 'newspaper' by fiona apple and of course the iconic 'achilles come down' by gang of youths
what they smell like: it's a knee-jerk impulse of mine to constantly bully zuko but i've gotta admit the mf probably smells AMAZING. all smokey and shit. walking yankee candle
an otp: zukka!!! i will die on this hill
a notp: zuko/toph feels very icky even in timeskips like?? they are bros!!!
favorite platonic/familial relationships: katara and zuko's friendship where it's just katara bullying him and he's just grateful for her company >>>>>, also while it's not necessarily happy/healthy i think his relationship with azula is one of the most fascinating ones of all time and it's SO interesting to write
a headcanon that is popular in the fandom but that i disagree with: that one part of fandom that are so stupidly protective of zuko and refuse to let any of the characters say a bad word about him even if it's literally them holding him accountable that's SO WEIRD AND EMBARRASSING OF YOU. also on that note portrayals of zuko that have him be like 'uwu soft growly boy' make me want to throw up. he's awkward and he earns his redemption yes but simultaneously he is incredibly strong and has done Fucked Up Shit this is not the soft boy you want. get a refund and stop babying him he's FINE
the position they sleep in: i just think he needs to be held
a crossover au i’d love to see them in: am i allowed to say yuri on ice zukka au again... @half-a-hetero i promise i'm not pressuring you here i quite simply am in love with your brain
my favorite outfit they’ve ever worn: OUTTA MY WAY SKINNY
