oh no i'm realising my two special interests of medieval Christianity and spirituality, and 19th century boating disasters leading to exposure and cannibalism would dovetail into a really coherent story
#my posts#like imagine.... some monks sail to ?greenland to try and do missionary work and get stranded on an artic icecap#and slowly start to lose humanity and there's themes all about what is divine#and nature is cruel and merciless and how does that shape up against a paternalistic god#and then the flesh!! THE FLESH!!#all the things about temptation of the flesh and eucharistic devotion get literalised when we (inevitably) get to the cannibalism#like when the last guy is saved and everyone asks how he survived and he's like 'i was sustained by the bread of the lord'#like???
