I honestly don't get why people are surprised that Kevin didn't recognize Neil. Like I've seen so many people makes jokes about the power of hair dye and plot amor but you wanna know what does have a lot of power? Time.
It had been like 8 years since Kevin had seen Neil and he met him one time. It's literally been like a year and I literally don't recognize people I've known for like 9 years. A person's appearance changes A LOT from 10 to 18, I would honestly be shocked if kevin WAS able to recognize him.
#like yeah he saw Neil's dad slowly kill someone but he also only was around him for one day#like without the hair dye and eye color there IS a good chance kevin would recognize him#but not because he remembered nathaniel#probobly he would remember Nathan#yeah I just didn't get why people thought kevin would recognize neil#aftg#all for the game#neil josten#aftg fandom#kevin day#nathaniel wesninski

"Saturday morning, jumped out of bed and put on my best suit. Got in my car and raced like a jet all the way to you. Knocked on your door with my heart in my hands, to ask you a question, 'cause I know that you're an old-fashioned man. Yeah."
Billy was freshly graduated, working as a lifeguard whilst his girlfriend worked her own job, both saving up for their chance to ditch Hawkins and move to California. Sweet Cali. Billy was excited to show the love of his life around the place he called home. Though, physically, he left the salty ocean and windy beach behind, the place never truly left him.
You could see it in his eyes. The waves crashing in his blue orbs. He swore the scent had just barely clung to his belongings; the smell of the tangy air that followed a majority of the state. Working at a pool was the closest he got to the memory of California. Chlorine was most certainly not the salted ocean waters, but with the circumstances, he decided it'd do.
The way his face lit up whenever he talked about his home...it made Y/n more and more excited to see it. His girlfriend had grown up in Hawkins, stayed there her whole life. Never once did the Hoppers leave Hawkins.
But the second that was introduced to Billy, he knew it had to change.
Although they were saving for a big move, Billy had...other things in mind with what to do with his first large pay-check (or series, rather. Working as a lifeguard didn't pay well with just one check). He began to work more shifts to make up for the money he'd spent, and one day after calling in for a day off, he decided to put his plan into action.
"Billy, stop messing with the tie."
"It's annoying." Hands slapped away his attempts of adjusting the black silk tie.
"Well it won't stop being annoying if you keep fucking it up."
For the first time in a long time, Neil Hargrove was calm. Not happy, not amused, not pissed off for some unjust reason- just calm. He wasn't wreaking havoc and he wasn't being an asshole to his son. Billy hadn't seen this side of his dad in quite some time, in fact, he thought something important was going on and he was about to fuck it all up. And then, Susan retreated to the living room with a camera and a freshly ironed suit.
"You're not putting me in that."
"And who asked for your opinion?" Neil deflected with a raised brow. One heavy sigh later and Billy was leaving the bathroom, dawning the whole black and white getup.
Susan clasped her hands over her mouth, a tear leaving her eye, "You look so handsome! Just like your dad!"
Billy rolled his eyes, "Great."
However, his careless attitude was swept under the rug when the blue Camaro pulled up to the police station, interrupting a clearly distressed Chief Hopper bickering with his daughter. Billy had to get himself together before stepping out of the car, jaw slack after seeing the beauty he got to call his date.
"Hello Mr-"
"Don't even try play nice with me, Hargrove. She's not going anywhere with you. End of story." Hopper kept his eyes trained on the blond, body tense like a snake preparing to strike it's prey.
Y/n grabbed Billy's arm, slowly directing him to the car, "And in the sequel, we find out I am going with Billy. End of that story."
"There is no 'sequel.' The writer got drunk and lazy." She paused, turning to face her father who stood tall, arms crossed and face unamused.
"So his daughter picked up where her father left off, and then the sequel was published and the two lived happily ever after, the end."
While her dad attempted to search for a line that would better hers and force her to stay, she pushed Billy toward the driver's side and slid into the car as fast as she could, rolling down the window as Billy started it up. "Bye! I'll be back before midnight!"
The two drove off toward the school, leaving behind a trail of dust and very, very, pissed off Hopper.
Prom was better than Billy thought it would be. He didn't want to go at first, but after Max found out and spoke to her mom about it (the little redhead a cupid-in-the-making), Neil pushed him to go (as he was "doing something else besides being a lazy-no-good rebel"). It was then that he called Y/n and asked if she'd be going.
The suit came in handy. Clashing with his rocker aesthetic, he put it back on once more. The once-annoying tie proved to be somewhat okay in the end.
Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life? Say yes, say yes, 'cause I need to know. You say I'll never get your blessing "till the day I die, tough luck my friend, but the answer is no!"
Why you gotta be so rude? Don't you know I'm human too? Why you gotta be so rude? I'm gonna marry her anyway. Marry that girl, marry her anyway! Marry that girl, yeah, no matter what you say! Marry that girl, and we'll be a family! Why you gotta be so rude?
With a deep breath, he ran-over the conversation in his head once more. Like a script for an actor, he had thought of every possible outcome and every possible line for him to face it with. He almost chickened out as his fist rose to the door, but it was too late, for his knuckles rapped against it before he realized he was even knocking.
El opened the door, eyes wide when she saw the familiar mullet and button-down. "Papa..." She muttered as she backed away and out of view.
Hopper traded places with her, his lazy expression sobering up instantaneously, replaced with a grumpy scowl. "Hargrove."
"Mr. Hopper, sir."
"What are you doing on my front porch?"
He swallowed roughly, palms sweaty against his sides. "I was wondering if I could talk to you."
"You seem to be doing just that right now, Hargrove." Hop crossed his arms and clenched his jaw.
Well, this was certainly not something Billy had thought of. He was on panic mode internally, attempting to find any response that could save his hide and accomplish what he set out to do. Unfortunately, the word-vomit button seemed to be misplaced under the button labeled "help".
"I'd like to marry your daughter, sir."
Hop's eyes grew just as big in size as El's had when she opened the door. He choked on his own surprise, coughing it off, then glaring at the boy in front of him. "Over my dead body, Hargrove. If that's all, I'd strongly advise you to get off of my fucking porch while you're still alive."
I hate to do this, you leave no choice; can't live without her. Love me or hate me, we will be boys- standing at that alter. And we will fly away, to another galaxy, you know. You know she's in love with me, she will go anywhere I go-
"Billy, he's just stubborn."
"No, no, I don't think he likes me."
Y/n sighed, rubbing her boyfriend's back. He hadn't told her of his proposal plans, only that Hop seemed to have it out for him. "It'll take time, but he'll warm up to you!"
"It's been how many years since he's met me?"
"To be fair, your reputation wasn't doing you any good until now..."
"It's not like that was fucking obvious." He slouched further down in the front seat of his Camaro. To Billy, all hope was lost. If he couldn't get Hopper to give him his blessing, he was sure he'd lose his goddamned mind.
Y/n frowned. Her frown flipped around as an idea popped into her head, her lips finding Billy's knuckles and quirking his attention. "Even if he never likes you, I'm not going anywhere."
Billy laughed softly, "he'll fucking kill me if you go against him."
"Eh, that's only if he can catch us."
"You're out of your fucking mind, Y/n Hopper."
"I know."
The rest of the night was spent in the Camaro, of course, doing one of Billy's favorite pastimes. By the time the sun rose, Billy was sneaking a kiss to a giggling Y/n before dropping from her window in the cabin and running to his car, parked far enough that Hop or El wouldn't notice. He blew her one more kiss, which she pretended to catch, then he broke into a sprint.
Maybe, he thought, just maybe; there was still a chance.
His knuckles hit the door again, shifting on his feet nervously. It swung open to reveal Hopper, an unimpressed look bringing no surprise Billy's way. It was quite expected, honestly.
"What." His tone made it clear he wasn't up for fucking around.
"Mr. Hopper, if you just give me one chance to prove to you that-"
"No, no, no, no, no. Let me make it very clear to you that I want you to have nothing to do with my daughter whatsoever. No marriage, no friendship, I don't even approve of you guys fucking or whatever-"
"We're in a serious relationship, sir. It's nothing like you think it is."
This made Hop laugh. He continued to do so, holding his stomach, until he realized Billy was unamused. "Oh, you're serious?... My answer is still no, Hargrove. My answer will always be no. Go find someone else's daughter's heart to break. You're not hurting mine."
"It's not like-"
Before he could even get the words out, he was met with a door in his face. Turned down, again.
Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life? Say yes, say yes, 'cause I need to know. You say I'll never get your blessing "till the day I die, tough luck my friend, 'cause the answer's still no!"
Why you gotta be so rude? Don't you know I'm human too? Why you gotta be so rude? I'm gonna marry her anyway. Marry that girl, marry her anyway! Marry that girl, yeah, no matter what you say! Marry that girl, and we'll be a family! Why you gotta be so rude, rude?
Again, again, and again, Billy incessantly pleaded with Hopper. Different tactics were all met with the same answer; rejection.
He held up a sign outside the cabin, only for Hopper to close the curtain and chuckle as he sipped his coffee.
He asked at the door again, only for Hop to threaten to give him a black eye (which was met with "aren't you the sheriff? Isn't that illegal?").
He raced past the police station, Max leaning out the window with another sign, only for Hop to threaten them with holding cells.
He even went as far as to ask Max and El to help, but Hopper had none of that, and sent Max home with a rant full of nos.
However, if Jim Hopper thought any of it would get it into Billy's head that getting his blessing was just not happening- he was as wrong as Nancy when she claimed not to have feelings for Jonathan.
Billy had another plan in mind, and this one was impossible to say no to.
Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life? Say yes, say yes, 'cause I need to know. You say I'll never get your blessing "till the day I die, tough luck my friend- but no still means no!"
"Hopper." Billy stood before his desk, interrupting his nice date with a delicious doughnut, and earning a very annoyed glare. "I got Miss Byer's blessing. Aren't you two a thing?"
"You son of a-"
"I got Eleven's too."
"Hargrove, I'm gonna-"
"Before you cuss me out, I think you should know that I've got a stable job, an interview with a mechanic so I have a job when the pool closes for the winter, and I've got a house on the market I'm looking at. I'm devoted to your daughter and she's devoted to me. You may not like me, but I think you're a great dad, better than the one I was unfortunately stuck with. You raised a strong and amazing woman. She's incredible and I admit, she deserves better than me-"
"You don't have to say that twice." Hopper huffed, crossing his arms.
"I know she deserves so much better than me, I'm surprised she's even with me too. But she loves me, and I think you can see that. I love her too. I would never, in a million years, break her heart."
Jim stayed silent for a few minutes. The silence brought uneasiness to Billy, but that was intentional on Hopper's behalf. He finally piped up with a cough, clearing his throat, before his piercing eyes met Billy's blue orbs.
"I'll hold you to that, Hargrove."
Why you gotta be so rude?
Bonus:
(after the wedding)
"What was that about a no?" Billy quipped with his infamous smirk.
"You're lucky I'm sheriff, Hargrove."
Why you gotta be so rude?

Paparazzi
“Kurt, you need to get on the internet right now.”
Kurt, who was staring at his computer screen and trying to come up with an idea to fix a dress he was working on, sighed and removed Alec from speaker phone. “What?”
“So, they’ve figured it out.”
“Who has figured out what?”
“Your fandom has figured out who Blaine is. His full name and they know you two are engaged.” Alec said. “Eric saw it on Facebook. It broke out on Tumblr apparently. Now that they’ve got his name, well… you know people with blogs and social media.”
“They know his name and that we’re engaged. They would have found out his name when we legally changed our names anyway.” Kurt tilted his head, staring at his screen.
“Someone posted where he works. Address and all.”
“Fuck.” Kurt hung up, calling Blaine.
“Kurt, what is going on? I mean I know I made my social media profiles public after Harvard but I have 3,000 friend requests on Facebook, 5,000 new followers on Instagram, and I’m even getting notifications for a Tumblr I had open when I was fifteen.” Blaine said as soon as he answered.
“I don’t know. Alec just called and told me; thats why I’m calling. What do I need to do?”
“This picture is from, like, my twelfth birthday party. What in the actual hell?” Blaine sounded like he was half paying attention to Kurt. “Why would anyone let me have my hair that short? It’s disgusting.”
“Blaine, can you pay attention to me?” Kurt opened his internet browser, googling ‘Blaine Anderson Kurt Hummel.’ “Oh fuck.”
“I know, right? I mean I know there have been pictures of me with you floating around since you made it big but they’ve never known my full name and honestly, they never even hinted at us maybe being together. And now they know my full name, that we’re engaged, and where I work at? I’ve also gotten ten things of flowers from random men which is flattering but creepy.”
“They’re mailing you stuff? Nobody mails me stuff.” Kurt scoffed.
“Little league soccer pictures? Pictures from the Sadie’s Hawkins dance in high school? Trigger warning would have been nice, just saying. I feel like I need to take a restraining order out on your entire fandom.” Blaine sighed. “I don’t even remember those skinny jeans.”
“People you went to school with before Dalton are probably uploading pictures now… geeze, Blaine. I’m surprised your sperm even took after those skinny jeans.” Kurt gasped. “What do we need to do?”
“I don’t think there’s anything we can do at this point. It’s just old pictures making rounds and there’s no personal pictures of us posted yet; just the same ones that the paparazzi uploads when we go to the gym or out to eat.” Blaine closed the internet from his computer.
“I am so sorry.” Kurt sighed. “They didn’t even act this crazy over me when they found my social media accounts.”
“Well they found your professional ones… I don’t have professional ones to have filtered.” Blaine responded. “But you better go and make your other one unsearchable because we’re listed as engaged so… so that’s how they know. Have you checked your personal Facebook, Kurt?”
“Oh, God.” Kurt sighed, pulling out his personal cell phone and pulling it up. “Apparently I’ve got so many friend requests nobody can request me anymore… on my personal one. So, it’s only a matter of time before pictures of us together, very clearly together, pop up.”
“This is fine. I mean, it’s not like you’re Matt Bomber or Neil Patrick Harris, okay?”
“This is three weeks after the New York show and London’s is next month. These are the first big shows I’ve done solo. Oh, God. Jason was right. She said this would happen but I didn’t think it would.”
“What?”
“He said once they caught wind of who you were, that we’d end up a power couple for the LGBT community. I don’t want to be a power couple. I don’t even wear good clothes to work anymore. I don’t like public speaking or having my picture taken or anything.”
“Relax, Kurt. This doesn’t mean we’re going to end up being a power couple.” Blaine interrupted his impending freak out.
“We’re getting married in three months. We’re having twins in five months. I can’t have a crazy fandom following, okay? It’s hard enough to remember to brush my teeth before bed some nights.” Kurt rambled on. “Oh my God.”
“What?” Blaine asked, sounding alarmed.
“There’s a picture of us shirtless and kissing from the beach trip we took after we got engaged. Oh my God, I’m so white. And you just look perfect. Great.” Kurt whined.
“Who the hell took it then?”
“I feel unclean.” Kurt whimpered. “I need to call a lawyer. Yeah, I should get a lawyer. And have these taken down because if my Dad sees this, he’s going to be so obnoxious for a year. He’ll mail copies to us and we’ll go home in and our room will be wallpapered in it.”
“Uhm… you’re marrying a lawyer.” Blaine said slowly.
Kurt looked at his phone when he got a text.
Looks like you’ve got a problem, kid. There’s a reporter here asking all about you and Blaine.
“They’re at Dad’s house. They are at Dad’s house.” Kurt yelped. “Blaine!”
“This will all blow over. I mean, we’re boring. You take an hour getting ready for bed and I can’t put lids on coffee cups. We are not interesting enough to hold attention that long.” Blaine said, voice gentle and reassuring.
“Y-you’re right.” Kurt took a deep breath. “We’re pretty boring. Surely it’ll blow over… right?”
Blaine didn’t answer and Kurt could hear someone, likely Adrian, saying, “Goddamn, Blaine. Could those pants have been any tighter?”
“Bob’s going to kill me.”

HC for Billy would handle y/n being pregnant?
So this is more of a little blurb about what happens after (Y/N) tells Billy she’s pregnant. This just flowed real well but if you want another one talking about Billy during (Y/N)’s pregnancy let me know. Also, once again not spellchecked ! Until then, enjoy :
_________
Rain is poruing down from the heavens, as chief Hopper sits by the counter of the diner, his coffee long gone lukewarm and resting forgotten before him.
His eyes are trained on the boy in the corner booth. He’s been sitting there for hours, just slowly sipping on a glass of coke and smoking one cigarette after another, like a goddamn chimney.
He knows the boy, knows of the boy. There’s been a few complaints about his reckless driving and then there’s — complaints about yelling and crying coming from the house. Hopper has had the pleasure of getting to know Neil Hargrove when he decided to investigate yet another complaint about screaming and banging coming from the household.
The wife, of course, said it was just a misunderstanding that things were — just fine. They always say that. She smiled at Hopp and he could tell it was forced. They always smile. But there was nothing he could do then other than throw a stern look at Neil and tell him to keep it down. Knowing that there’s two kids in this home makes him feel uneasy, makes him feel a rage burning in his stomach.
“ Maggie, what’s with the kid ? “ he asks the waitress of the diner as she passes him, pouring him another drop of (hot) coffee.
“ Don’t ask me, usually coems around with his girlfriend. Think something might’ve happened he looks real down in the dumps. “
Hopper nods as she walks away, takes one sip of coffee, then pushes away from the counter and walks over to Billy. He plops down on the red plastic cushions of the booth, that’s bursting at ever seam.
Billy glances up at him and Hopper can just make out a fainting hue of blue and red and purple around the boy’s right eye.
“ Can I help you ? “ Billy groans.
“ Can I help you ? “
Billy shakes his head “ don’t think so. “
Hopper prides himself with being a good cop, what he has a problem with though, is talking. It’s getting people to talk. Showing empathy. It’s not that he doesn’t care. Lord knows he does, he just doesn’t know how to start, how to word his worries.
“ Maybe uh — maybe tell me what’s wrong and we’ll see if I can help “ Hopper starts and he knows, this doesn’t work on a teen but it’s always worth a try, right ?
“ How about you mind you own business, old man ? “
This, he can deal with. Teenagers being snappy? No big deal.
“ Disrespecting authority ? thin ice kid. “
Billy even has the audacity to chuckle. Hopper likes the kid, he know he shouldn’t with all his reckless driving and property damage and shit, he does anyway.
“ Hargrove, I know shit at home isn’t easy. If you tell me, I can help “
Billy looks up almost in shock, then averts his gaze again. Hopper knows he’s not gonna talk. They hardly ever do.
The kid takes a last drag of his cigarette then immediately fumbles another one from the pack stuffed into the pocket of his denim jacket.
“ That’s a bad vice to have. Shit’s gonna kill you eventually. “ The words sound hyporitical coming from Hopp of all people. He swears he’s heard someone say them to him before.
“ Yeah well can’t do it at home anymore. “ It’s a vague answer but at least the kid is talking.
“ Why’s that? “
Billy just takes another drag then shakes his head. He’s not gonna talk.
“ Alright well If you need anything I’ll be over by the counter, still gotta finish my coffee “
He gets a mere 2 steps away before Billy speaks up again “ You got a kid, right ? “
Hopper’s family history is — complicated. But he’s not gonna get into that with Billy right now so he just nods and slides back into the booth “ yeah, a daughter. Why ? “
Billy takes a sip from his coke and stubs the cigarette out in the ashtray. “ How did you — react like, when you knew you were gonan be a “ he gulps “ a dad”.
With El things were different so Hopp tries to think back to when he first hear about Sarah. When his wife told him they were gonna have a baby.
“ I was terrified”
The boy nods “ yeah. “
It’s then when it suddenly clicks for Hopper “ Is this about your girlfriend ? “
There’s a smile pulling at Billy’s lips though it’s not a happy smile. It’s one that says “It’s ironic isn’t it ?! “
“ She told me this morning and I just left. Bolted outta there like a huge fucking asshole. But what else can you expect from me ? How am I supposed to raise a kid ? I never had a dad to look up to. God I can’t end up like him. I can’t do that to them. I love them. “
Them. The girl and the baby.
“ Let me tell you something, Billy. That fear of fucking up ? That’s never gonna go away. And you will fuck up at some point. You’ll do or say the wrong thing once or twice or twenty times. Good thing is kids are forgiving. And the fact that you care so much already, that you care about fucking up. That shows me you’re not gonna be like your dad. “
Billy looks up and for the first time he looks like the scared teenage boy he is. Soft eyes and fear instead of sharp edges and scowls.
“ What if I do ? “
“ You won’t. Would that girl be with you if she thought so ? “
“ Probably not “
“ You can’t let your parents faults define you as a person. You as a father. Step up and be the best dad you possibly can be. It’s what I try to do. “
“ How’s that working ? “
Hopp shrugs “ She only hates me sometimes and still watches Miami Vice with me every time it’s on. “
Billy takes another sip then reaches into his jacket and places a piece of paper and some bundle of fabric on the table.
“ That’s my kid “ he says and holds the picture out to Hopp. “ I know it’s just a grey blob and you can’t see shit but, that’s my kid “
His voice is filled with unshead tears. Hopper thinks this boy probably hasn’t had anyone else to tell the news to. No one who’d be happy for him at least. No support. So he smiles at him and Billy ? Billy smiles back.
“ What’s that ? “
Billy takes the bundle and unfolds it. It’s a tiny onesie that says “ I was born to rock out to Metallica with my dad” and Hopper can’t suppress a laugh.
“ Saw this while driving around. Had to get it. “
There’s a radiance about Billy now, a glow that seems all consuming when he’s talking about the baby. His baby. Hopper knows that whatever happens Billy is not gonna be like Neil. He’s gonna do good. Hopper thinks Billy should know this.
“ Hey Hargrove? “
“ Hmm ? “
“ You’re doing good “
Billy looks back down to the sonogram picture and nods “ I hope so “ and he smiles.

Little curiosity notes: Hey guys! We’re on chapter 9 now! If everything goes according to plan the story will end in the next chapter! I might do an additional short epilogue after, but the plan is only to continue until chapter 10! Thank you so much for reading until here and as always: Feel free to reach out!
Thank you!
Candy (08/20/2020)
Neil Chapter 9 part 1- First, do no harm
1933
-Cliff- I said as I walked from the back room of the diner I helped to manage now- you’re running low on soda, you know!
-Geez- He said, finishing up cleaning a table and running towards me- I’m awful with this inventory stuff ya know, MC. Mind seeing everything we’re missing?
I smiled, gently hitting him on the head with the papers I was holding- Glad to help.
-Neil coming in today? Just got his new bourbon stash this morning!
-Im sure he’ll pop by later when the nanny is home. How’s everything going with you?
-It’s fine, me and Jane just moved in together- He crossed his arms , blushing a little and giving me that big smile of his.
-So you finally settled down. Next thing you know you’ll have little Conways running around the place
-Maybe in a few years- He turned around when somebody called his name- Alright, duty calls. Have fun in there!
-I always have- I waved at him and returned the back room to count our stock, manage prices, and do basically everything I did at the Ice Box. I enjoyed doing the same job alongside the same people without having the risk. Our past evolved into a better future than most of what the other mob bosses had.
Suddenly, I heard the lock click. My initial shock soon turned into dark memories I wanted to forget. Impulsively I tried open the door only to find out I was actually locked in
-Hey...! Hey!- I knocked on the door- Hey, let me out! Somebody locked me in- I wasn’t scared of enclosed places. It was the sound of the lock clicking and the inability to open it from the inside that haunted me.
I hated being locked in.
-MC- The door opened after a few knocks. Vince was there- Sorry, just came in and thought somebody left it open
-It’s alright-My cheeks were colored red, but besides that I kept my posture- I’ll just do the inventory outside
1926
I opened my eyes, waking up from my sleep. I could feel no sign of light besides the faint, artificial one. I sighed heavily realizing nothing had changed. In my new found experience, not being in the sun for three weeks messes with you head. It makes you tired and empty. A crippling force tells you to accept your fate to remain there.
I sat up, only to find Vera already awake on the mattress besides mine- Did you check the day today?- I asked
-Yeah. The holidays are approaching fast. How are you?
I rubbed my stomach which now had started to show more. Vera had asked the mayor, in one of the times he came in, for new clothes. She had some in the bedroom they used to share. It was refreshing to say the least and her clothes, that were slightly bigger on me, helped me hide my condition from him. It was a light and loose salmon colored shirt that went down until my hip, and a beige skirt that went to my calf, along with white stockings. It was nothing I’d normally wear, but I wasn’t in the position to be picky.
-I feel fine- I said- I don’t feel too sick anymore. I haven’t gotten any movements yet
-How far along are you?
-Hm... I went to the doctor last month... Must be around 13 or 14 weeks.
-It’s still early. Mine didn’t move until about 17 weeks
I looked at her, genuinely surprised- You have kids?
-Oh yes, Frank and I have our children. They’re all grown and moved on to different parts of the country. My oldest one is a little older than you.
-What’s her name?
-His, actually. His name is Robert. He’s 21 now, he got a job out west and comes back to visit when he can.
-Who are the others?
-Oh, May is 18. She’s with her aunt in Florida. I sent her when things got too complicated here. She wouldn’t listen to us.
I chuckled- I know how she feels.
-Then there’s Matt. He’s 16.
-What’s going on with Matt?
-He’s in New York as an apprentice to his grandfather. My ex-husband’s dad. He wants to teach him how to run the business he owns
-Seems like they’ve got it all figured out
-Yes. Well, I know the feeling of having your first kid. I was but a bit older than you are right now. Although- She pointed to her surroundings- I had a more adequate stay
I laughed, but there was no humor in my voice- Adler’s gonna bring our city down under his total power if we don’t do something
-You don’t think your men are trying to save you or figure it out?
-Trying is the key word. Vince...-I sighed, with a heavy heart- Well, Adler shot him... He must be dead right now. That means Cliff and Uncle Charlie must be a mess. On top of it, for my uncle, there’s the fact that I disappeared. That also messes with Neil who, I can’t even imagine what he must be feeling but it’s nothing good. Then Donovan isn’t close enough with them to put everybody’s head together. Julius, Cleo, Sofia and Andrew... Im sure they’re trying to help but...- I sighed- I’m the head of the Ice Box. Im the queen on the chess board. They need me- I said as I realized it myself- I can’t spend any more time waiting for something to happen or counting days.
-You already tried everything, remember?
-Not everything- I got up, exercising my need to move my legs- You know Adler’s schedule better than anyone. When is he out for a long time?
-He’s always at the office from noon to six on weekdays.
-Then thats our time to escape. We’ll wait an hour just to be sure, then leave.
-Yes, but you’re leaving out the important part— How are we gonna leave?
-Last night, before I went to bed, I was looking around your things to see if I could find something useful
-You went through my stuff?!-She said visibly irritated
-If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have found this- I opened my hand to show her the few bobby pins I had in my possession
-How is pinning your hair up helping us?
-Oh Vera, dig a little deeper. It’s for opening the door. I can pick it!
-With those? I think you might be a little too optimistic
-Thankfully- I said cheering up- I had plenty of training sneaking back in my house, and hiding from Momma and Poppa. I have yet to meet a lock that could stop me.
She looked at me for a few seconds and sighed- Alright, I’ll bite. One in the afternoon then.
-Thats right!-I hid it once I heard the door open. They were bringing breakfast down.
____
We heard Adler leave. We heard everything until there was nothing else to hear. The anticipation was so overwhelming that when Vera’s little clock hit twelve-thirty, we were on out way up the stairs.
I got two bobby pins and started to work on unlocking the door. In a few minutes, it clicked and it opened right up to the now dark living room
-You know- She whispered- For the three weeks you were here, you could’ve tried that sooner.
-I didn’t know you had these!- I whispered too, but in an angrier tone- And you’re welcome!
I pushed the door out slowly, as if someone would head. The dark immensity of the house spread before my eyes. Without a single soul there it seemed peaceful, but in a way that unsettled you, like something was waiting to jump out from the dark. The negativity soon disappeared as I got lost in my thoughts for a second and walked over to the big window, letting the sun hit my face. The warmth of the natural light, warmed up my heart along with it. The joy of finally breaking free made me forget for an instant I had to walk out the front door.
-Miss Granger, let’s go!-Vera hurried me up
-Yeah, right- I walked up to the front of the house. By the door there was a table. I noticed keys on top of it- This is for his Ford, isn’t it?- I grabbed them-Nifty! We just got out escape vehicle
-I can’t drive- She looked at me uncertain
-Well, I’ve been learning- I replied opening the door- Now, let’s scram
___
I had to go through two Fords to find the one the keys belonged too, within myself we could taste the flavor of freedom.
Opening the door, I made my way in. It was then everything was ruined by a single shot that went right through the window on my side. When I looked back, Adler stood a few yards away with a gun aimed in my direction, along with his two goons.
-Go, Vera! Inside!-I yelled at the top of my lungs closing my door and turning on the car. I stepped on the gas and went as fast as the car would allow me to.
Soon, down the streets of Chicago we went. The bright sun and the streets filled with people would normally be cause for celebration, but my currently situation prevented me from enjoying it. I heard more shots coming our way and noticed that Adler was following us in his own car
To make everything better, Vera was freaking out in the passenger seat
-Woaaaaaaaaah, be careeeful! Waaaait, you’re going tooooo faaaaast!
-Vera!- I yelled back, driving and swerving as much as my experience would allow- If I don’t drive fast he’s gonna catch up to us—Ah!- I yelped when another shot came right in between us, making a hole in the windshield
-You’re gonna kills uuuus!-Her voice got louder and more annoying- I’m not ready to die!- She continued, letting out her “Oh!”s And “Oh my god!”s And her loud screams that were worse than the shots for me. At this point, I tried my best to ignore them since our lives depended on it
She yelled even louder when his car bumped into our rear and sent our bodies forward. I heard continuous shots that shattered our windows and I couldn’t go any faster. I had to think of something quickly, but all the stimulation from the outside made the task harder.
That’s when I saw it and hope ushered back into me. The little red convertible from the corner of my eyes, driving right ahead of us. Vince drove with ease on the wheel, while, surprisingly, our most experienced shooter, Donovan, fired back in the mayor’s direction from the passenger seat.
Seeing them, I let out a relieved little laugh. Fear was substituted with the urge to go faster, so I gained some distance on them. On the other side the trusty green Studebaker had Cliff, Uncle Charlie and Julius in it. Cliff drove, Uncle tried to steal glances my way, and Julius had a pistol, and helped Donovan by firing back. Sometimes Vince would keep one hand on the wheel and use pearl to fire as well. What I thought was going to be hell quickly turned into an exhilarating thrill.
And then, time slowed down as a third car showed up. The darker colored vehicle that belong not just to any man, but to the man I had longed to see all this time— Neil Dresner. I recognized the car but I couldn’t see him since he drove ahead of me. It might seem silly, but the importance of that moment couldn’t be just understood, it had to be felt. The whole world brightened up again just to know he was near. I knew then I wasn’t alone, and I never would be again.
And then everything came back to me in a second, when Vera’s shouting became deafening and another shot came right by us
-We’re going to die! Jesus!- She kept having her panic attacks
-MC!-I heard a voice from Vince in his car- To the docks! Go to the docks!
I nodded, better now that I had a direction in mind,so I sped up towards my new destination.
The city passed by us in a blur, I didn’t allow myself to focus on anything else but getting there. I’m sure everyone else had a plan and in my mind I started formulating the beginning of my own.
I turned into the road that led to the docks and swerving the car faster than it could handle, I stopped abruptly, hitting a few of the many giant boxes piled around, ready to be transported. The side of the car caved in, but we came out unscathed in the front
-What are you thinking?! We could have died! We could hav-
-Vera!- I yelled, looking at her, panting. The adrenaline hadn’t left my body and I knew it wouldn’t for a long time- you’re a chatter-mag bitch- I said in an unusual calm tone, still trying to catch my breath
-Excuse me?-She gave me that look she usually did when she disapproved of something
I was going to reply, but then I heard a car and shots again- Go Vera! Out of the car!- I pushed her out her way and pulled her to hide behind the boxes laid out nearby.
I heard more tires and assumed my gang had arrived to rescue us. I smiled realizing I was right when I saw Vince throwing me my trusty revolver- Let’s take car of em, boss.
-Don’t call me that- I grabbed it, feeling an immense power I hadn’t felt in a long time. I pointed it to my target, my enemies, those who sided with Adler...
...And fired.

Prompt: Killer
Sometimes people disappeared in Hawkins. The police never found any rhyme or reason, and since no bodies were ever discovered, no murders could be proven.
People just disappeared sometimes, just up and left without a word. At least, that was the general tone surrounding the mystery, so that the people of Hawkins could continue sleeping at night.
When Billy came to town, he heard as much but didn't think anything of it. After all, he would be one of those names soon enough; someone who disappeared out of Hawkins without a single goodbye, headed back west.
-
That was the reason he had nearly been caught in his dad’s truck. Neil was pissed at Billy for something or another and had taken his keys. Billy needed his keys to go out looking for work to earn money for his escape. After being unable to find his keys in the house, he’d started poking around the carport and Neil’s truck.
A moment of panic when he heard footsteps had him hiding under the tarp in the bed of the truck. Billy had no idea where Neil was going, couldn’t see anything and only had a small idea that they were out towards the woods when the truck pulled off to the side.
It was dark out, so Billy thought if he held very still then he wouldn’t be caught.
Then he heard another car pull up. He heard his dad talking, he couldn’t make out words but knew the low and threatening tone. Just as he started to strain his hearing, try and make out what was being said, there was a loud thump.
Neil groaned but it was quickly cut off. It was a wet sound, hard but also muted, but Billy had been in enough fights to have an idea of what it could be.
Slowly, he raised his head, peeking out over the side of the truck. In the twilight of the day, he almost didn’t believe what he was seeing.
There was the sound like ocean waves overtaking his hearing, like the white noise he’d heard of when someone was in a state of shock. The sound of the ocean seemed fitting when he saw Steve Harrington’s eyes: dead and black like a shark.
The look on his face was similar to the night at the Byers house, and the bat he was wielding looked to be the same one Max used to threaten him. Steve wasn’t threatening though. He was calmly, serenely even, bringing it down on a still and bloody Neil Hargrove’s head.
Then Steve paused mid-swing, rested the bat on his shoulder, and he looked directly at Billy with the tiniest smile.
“Here,” Steve bent down and snatched up the keys that Neil dropped. He tossed them into the truck next to Billy. “Drive home. I’ll clean up.”
His bat was dripping. He’d used it to murder a grown man in less than two minutes. Billy slowly reached for the keys while keeping his eyes locked on Steve. But there was no other reaction to him, not when Billy got out of the back, not when he climbed into the front seat, and not when he drove off.
-
When someone witnessed a murder, they were supposed to go to the police. But Billy never had faith in the cops, from the way they tended to hassle him about his clothes and earring, to the way they failed to care about his injuries as a child.
He went home, quietly parked the truck, got out and looked at the house. The windows were dark, Susan probably still had Max out shopping.
Billy went inside and put the keys on the table. Two hours later, he feigned ignorance when Susan came.
Forty-eight hours later, he feigned ignorance when the cops came.
Close to the end of the week, when no body or evidence was found, Neil Hargrove’s name was added to the list. Just another person who disappeared.
During all of that time, Steve seemed completely normal when Billy saw him around school. He still moped, still jumped, still made weird faces and would break into mumbled song every now and then. Nothing about him hinted at what Billy had seen that night.
Right up until Steve paused in the locker room, looking at Billy. Something about his face was off and Billy tensed, feeling very aware that the closest witness was on the other side of the room.
“Can we talk?” Steve asked.
Billy forced a half-smile. “Anything for you, princess,” he said with a wink. Steve walked away without reacting, and Billy left school that day without seeing Steve again.
-
The front door was unlocked when he got home. For an instant, Billy thought Max had beaten him back and hadn’t locked it. But as he started to push it open, he realized that it wouldn’t be possible for Max to beat him home without passing him on the road.
He didn’t step inside as the door slowly swung open. From the doorway he saw Steve sitting in the middle of the couch, the spiked bat resting across his lap.
“Hey Billy,” Steve greeted him as if nothing in the world was wrong. He smiled, just this side of goofy, and tilted his head. “Do you know how much money it costs to be allowed to kill someone?”
Billy watched him warily, but Steve made no move to stand.
“It’s a trick question,” Steve continued. “It depends on who you have to pay.”
“How much did you pay this time?” Billy asked, gauging how fast he could make it back to his car. If Steve gave chase, Billy might not escape completely.
“That’s up to you,” Steve said. “How much would you charge me?”
He’d thought many times that he wished Neil would disappear. But at the same time, Neil was his father and the devil he knew. Where would he go if Susan didn’t want him there? Billy didn’t have the money to get back to California.
“I have to figure it out. How much it would cost to go back.” He couldn’t help but watch Steve’s face, noting the deep brown of his eyes that made them look so much warmer than before. “But I won’t tell. Haven’t yet.”
“Mm, I noticed you don’t seem to like the cops here.”
“All cops are bastards,” Billy said out of habit. “But so was my dad.”
“Did you cry?” Steve asked with his eyes big and alive.
Billy hadn’t. After the shock wore off, all he felt was relief. His life had been thrown into chaos, he didn’t know how he would live since his only family was dead.
But it hadn’t hurt. In a way, both of his parents had been dead to him since his mom told him she was never coming back, and he had the rude awakening that he would never have the sort of family he saw on TV.
“No.”
“Good,” Steve sighed. “I didn’t do it to hurt you.”
Billy hadn’t really considered Steve’s motive. He readily accepted the idea that Steve was just a psycho. He wasn’t sure what sort of face he made that Steve took it as an invitation to step closer.
“I did it because he hurt you.” Steve lifted his head, and the only reason Billy left his cheek be cupped was because Steve’s other hand was still holding his bat. “The cops don’t always protect people. And if they won’t,” he trailed off, looking at Billy in the same way Billy had seen him look at those stupid kids.
“After everything?” Billy asked curiously.
“It was different between you and me,” Steve frowned. It felt sort of nice when he stroked Billy’s cheek with his thumb. “I saw him, a couple weeks ago, at the lumberyard.”
Billy remembered the episode at the lumberyard. Neil said he was moving too slow, said Billy didn’t care about the family home, said all sorts of shit to which Billy had simply answered, “yes, sir.”
And when they didn’t have an audience, Billy got a backhand across the face and a punch to the gut, before Neil told him not to roll his eyes.
“You fought back with me,” Steve finished.
“Were you really fighting back?” Billy couldn’t help but ask.
“I’m not great without this,” Steve grinned and lifted the bat, but he lowered it when he felt Billy flinch. “I’m not going to hurt you.”
“You killed my dad.”
“To protect you,” Billy was close enough to watch the change in Steve’s eyes, to see as the shark took over. “I’m protecting people.”
People.
Billy gulped at the insinuation. He covered Steve’s hand on his cheek before those eyes went entirely black. “I know,” he said lowly, his mouth felt so dry. “I know, Harrington. Thank you.”
Steve smiled, and Billy felt it like the sun hitting his face. “Let me know how much you need when you figure it out, okay?”
“Yeah.”
“See you around, Billy.”
Steve strolled around him, singing the song from Risky Business under his breath as he closed the front behind him. Billy let out a breath and sank onto the couch. The sound of the ocean was back in his ears.
#HarringroveHalloween#killer!Steve#got it into his mind that he needs to protect people#from monsters#from other people who act like monsters#here is a peek at what I've been sort of working on for Steve as a killer#I feel like he justified it in his mind#and will become distressed if it feels challenged#hence his distress at Billy

Steve surprises Billy
Fuck work today sucks, so here is a little something I wrote cause I'm listening to Def Leppard and the plot bunnies wont seize. Here we go
It had been a long day at Scoops. The telltale announcement came on, that Starcourt would be closing and Steve sighed relived. Crazy kids, screaming mothers and cocky teens had kept him busy his whole shift. He was going to tear his hair out if he would have to stay any minute longer. At this point all he wanted to do was go down to the quarry or maybe lounge by his pool. Grab a six pack and some cigarettes, with Billy at his side.
They had been going steady, ever since the end of summer. After some chance encounters, awkward apologies and closure of the biblical kind. Billy was the first to apologize. He admitted that his anger towards him was based on his inability to have him. From the first moment he heard about the great King Steve, he had wanted him. He had built a façade of a macho character to keep his dad at bay. But even that didn’t seize the physical and emotional abuse that Neil Hargrove inflicted on him. He’d mentioned that he didn’t care what his dad thought of him, he had stopped caring a long time ago. He was just glad that Steve had given him a chance and that they were together now.
Just the thought of him being with Billy made his skin tingle, so deliciously. A good ol toss around the sack sounded peachy as well. It had been a couple days since he’d even seen Billy. This was Steve’s third closing shift in a row, and it was only Wednesday. He wouldn’t hear the end of it either if he saw him.
Billy had taken up a summer job at the public pool as a lifeguard. With his Californian experience and swimming skills, he was a no questions asked shoe in. So his work schedule consisted of early morning to mid afternoon when the pool would close. By that time around Steve was already at Scoops, so they rarely saw each other. That would change once the busy season stopped, and everyone was back in school.
“You ready to go space cadet”, Robin came around the counter that he had been so busy wiping down. He hadn’t realized how lost in thought he was when she smacked him in the face with her sailors’ hat.
“Fuck yeah! let’s go, I’m so completely done with today.” He grabbed his bomber jacket and made his way out of the glass entrance before Robin locked the place down. He unceremoniously took his own sailor’s hat off and stuffed it into his jacket pocket. They made their way together along with some other mall workers, out towards the parking lot. They talked about how insane the day was and how crazy busy it had been for a Wednesday night.
They had fallen into a nice friendship. They'd been attracted to each other, and Steve had even taken the chance of asking her out. Robin had admitted to having an attraction for him, but she was also very much into Jenny from her summer English class. A tall pretty girl with fiery curls. Steve definitely understood. He too was into a young Adonis who's blonde curls caught the sun's rays. His description of Billy when he had told Robin about his secret crush.
“Seriously I almost lost my collective shit when that lady called you an incompetent idiot.” she cackled.
“I literally only told her that sprinkles would be extra. It was a total waste too, since her idiot kid dropped the damn cone before he could finish it.” He sighed and rolled his eyes at Robin for effectively still laughing at his expense. As soon as they made it past the double doors to the parking lot, they were pulled out of their conversation by a low whistle to their left. Steve’s head turned like whiplash at the familiar sound. His eyes meeting ocean blue in an instant and being greeted by a 10-watt smile. He felt his knee’s go weak, and he could instantly hear his boyfriend say ‘plant your feet, babe’ in his head. What Billy didn’t know was that it was impossible, when Steve was so infatuated already.
To say that their relationship was going good was an understatement. Billy made Steve so incredibly happy. Sure, he could still be an asshole at times, but he was better now. They were far more similar than they let on. Billy had apologized to the kids and was practically part of the party, minus the obvious nerd knowledge he so severely lacked. Countless times now he would play chaperone to the nerds and he would just mention to Steve, ‘how do you keep up with them?’. Steve would just tilt his head back with a roll of his eyes and laugh. Truth was, he loved the kids and he would go back into certain death over and over for them if it meant that he could be around them and they'd be safe.
“Hey Bills!”, Robin was the first to break the silence. She half ran and skipped towards Billy and bumped fists. “Came to pick up your boyfriend?”, she waggled her eyebrows. Steve was now making his way over to them. He admired their quick friendship, after all Robin was the one to set them up. She was the one to tell Billy to cut the bullshit.
“As a matter of fact, yea I did.”
Billy was giving Steve a look, and oh he knew that look. Half lidded eyes and cocky smirk, almost hungry. He’d be damned if he didn’t say he felt a heat pool in his lower abdomen. Apparently, Steve wasn’t the only one who could tell. Robin made a coughing sound, “I get it you pervs, I’m outta here before you start ripping into each other. I’ll see you later Steve, Night Billy!”.
They waved her off and once the coast was clear, they closed the gap between them. Billy pulled Steve towards the wall next to the double doors, kissed him with a hunger that only comes with a three day absence. “Holy shit, someone missed me”, Steve chuckled between kisses only pulling up for necessary air.
“You bet your ass I did, sweetheart”, Billy kissed down Steve’s neck. Slowly running his tongue up again, just the way he knew drove him insane. All the stress of the day was left in the past, his thoughts were technicolor now. Non coherent, except for Billy’s face in the multicolored hue of his fantasy. He held his face tenderly in his hands, rubbing his thumbs on Billy’s cheekbone to try and have him relax a bit. If only to coax him from attacking him and being able to see his beautiful face.
“I missed you too, baby.” Billy loved it when Steve gave him pet names. He turned to total mush and relaxed into Steve’s embrace.
“Your closing shifts are killing me, the kids miss you like crazy. I will seriously slit my wrists if I have to listen to them bitch and moan at the pool. They have opted to following me around now. I'm still getting use to this.”
Steve's heart swelled. Billy wasn't one to receive a lot of affection. So for the kids to be doting on his every word pulled at his heartstrings. His Billy was finally receiving the affection he was deprived of so long. When Billy had made a mind of apologizing to the kids, it had taken them a while to warm up to him. Dustin was the first to accept that if he made Steve happy, then he was okay to have around. Dustin knew that Steve needed to hang out with people his own age and that Steve would be good for Billy. They were both broken people, they could mend each other. He was still far from being the designated favorite, but apparently not too far anymore.
“I'm sorry, I know that our hours have been nuts. You would think that with school approaching, things would slow down.”
Billy looked at him, those piercing blue eyes of his bore deep into Steve. It made him melt and his senses heighten. Touch, taste, anything that was with Billy felt far more profound. More genuine. He couldn't hide anything from him.
“I'll try to request some time off, how does that sound?”
“Can you afford too? I mean I know you don’t like mooching off your dad, but you're with me and I can provide for you", Billy smirked and waggled his eyebrow at him.
“I'm fine, and no I can live without my dad's help. However, I won't deny you treating me to a date night”, Steve smirked back with that last statement.
Billy took that smirk as an invite, specially with how Steve bit his bottom lip. He leaned in to kiss him again.
“Date night? Sounds like a plan. Got any place in mind?”, Billy asked.
It kind of caught Steve off by surprise. He wasn’t expecting to have to choose the location. He tried wracking his brain as to where they could go. He couldn’t think of a place where two young men in love could be see together and not be unfortunately judged. Hawkins was your total, ordinary hick town. They didn’t hear about two men being together without hearing the slightest slur. Steve knew what he wanted, he'd known for a while. He was proud of being with Billy, but he wasn’t stupid and he knew the risks that they're relationship faced.
“hmm-m let's rain check that, okay. I would need to think this one through. Cause I don’t want to be cooped up at home. I mean, movie nights are awesome but I'd like to go out.”
“Okay, well- think about it and let me know. I’ll walk you to your car, weirdly enough it’s kind of chilly out. Summer's here are so weird", he pecked his cheek and held out his hand for Steve to take and thread their fingers together. They walked back towards the front and Steve caught eye of an ad stuck to a store front window.
The sign was for a Def Leppard concert happening in Chicago. Apparently another date that had been added to their Pyromania tour cross the U.S, and it was the last night to catch them. Steve knew right then and there what he wanted to do. He knew very well that Def Leppard was one of Billy’s favorite bands. He couldn’t pass this up.
“Hey babe? Umm, you wanna go to Chicago?”
Billy turned his eyes towards Steve.
“Chicago huh? Any particular reason?”
Steve stayed quiet, just shrugged his shoulders. This was going to be a surprise and he had to think quick on his toes for cover.
“Just thought, we could get out of Hawkins for a weekend. Spend sometime alone, where no one knows us and we can go out in public. Where I can actually hold your hand and not be so heavily scrutinized for it.”
“Okay-okay sweetheart. Don’t loose your shit. I get it and you're right, I’m all for it. You're planning this out right, I’ve never been so I would be a lousy tour guide.”
Steve totally had this in control, he'd been to the city several times with his parents on business. So he knew his way around.
“Don’t worry baby, I got this. We leave this Friday”
Second part is coming
Excuse my story telling, I'm trying to not get caught lol
