"You know they can't read subtitles." Burn lol. But as a USian, I have to admit you're right. I personally love subtitles and it's so true. People say it's because it's distracting and for a few people with processing issues, it makes sense. Their brain can't handle multiple things at a time so quickly. But not everyone has them. Like, the more you do something, the easier it gets. Just admit you're lazy and don't know how to read and move on 🤣.

plus you could also dub things over in english like plenty of other places do for any foreign language it's not like there's a terrible lack of actors who could lend their voices

and tbh for best accessibility films should include both

#pie replies #like we all remember bong joon ho shading at the oscars bc that was great #now obviously for some people it would be distracting to read #and not everyone can read well but that is something that won't get better without practice #but for those that genuinely cannot follow well with subtitles there should be dubs #plus if you have the option of listening to a foreign language it helps with learning #with subtitles in your own or in the target language depending on level #basically I am just encouraging ppl to watch more foreign films etc
