this isn’t cancel culture, if you’re chalking it up to that you’re not paying a speck of attention or you just don’t care about things outside of your own worldview.

first the way some of you defend caity is gross. i feel like you’d commit a crime for her just as long as she likes your tweet. 

i think the thing that irritates me most is that so many people think this is just fandom drama or cancel culture. you’re so quick to just write this off as caity having an opinion that’s different from our own and that all she said was that she wanted people to get along. like pls stop pretending to be so clueless. caity is in such a place of privilege where she has the luxury to just see this as “fighting over politics”. like way to completely dismiss and downplay what’s actually going on here. trump keeping kids in cages isn’t politics, trump calling white male terrorists with tiki torches great guys but calling kaepernick a son of a bitch isn’t politics, trump raping and sexually assaulting women and girls- not politics, trump trying to take the rights away from lgbtq people, and those with a uterus isn’t politics- these are peoples lives. and caity thinks she’s brave for sitting there on her fancy yacht with her new house and her celebrity career and her white skin, and cis and presumably straight body and telling people to get along and go have a conversation with your neighbor?? this also is the exact opposite of what she posted only a couple months ago when she went to a BLM protest. it’s the lack of self awarness, the performative allyship, the hypocrisy, and cluelessness for me. 

from caity’s recent tweets, it’s clear that the outcome of this election is not going to have any affect on her whatsoever. not in the way that it will affect those who are trans, black, brown, poor, undocumented, disabled, don’t have money for great healthcare/insurance, etc. the fact that caity is so damn privileged that she was able to tweet these things while ignoring what everyone was telling her is the issue. she fucked up. she wanted to have the conversation but didn’t want to be challenged, called out or take any of the responsibility. she’s a fuckin child, too damn comfortable in her lifestyle to realize that we all don’t live like her or have the same identity that allows us to be so cavalier. this is life and death for a lot of people. this is losing their rights, and losing their family members to deportation, and losing trans and lgbtq people to possible suicide because they’re no longer seen as human. if you can’t understand these things at stake for people, don’t even enter the conversation about it. also to those of you who think we all should just be nice and sing kumbaya, try this quote on for size. Mull it over if you have to and crawl out of caity’s ass while you’re at it.
