I get liking the joke of "if we wanted people to buy Barbie not being pretty, casting directors shouldn't have gone for Margot Robbie". It's funny. The narrator's delivery of it is really clean. It's the kind of jab I'd lean over to my sibling and make, which is precisely why I waffled on whether or not i liked it for so long. But tbh, the dig completely sucks the air out of an emotional moment (that Margot Robbie and America Ferrera are killing btw) and, more importantly, it misses the whole point. As America/the mother's whole speech delivered mere moments later gets at, being a woman is being held to an impossible standard: you're never enough. It doesn't matter how skinny you are, you're made to feel fat. It doesn't matter how many smart you are, you're made to feel stupid. It doesn't matter how well you do your job, you're made to feel a fraud. Even woman who look like they've got it all put together - the business owners, the beauty models, the doctors and lawyers - can't win because the goal post is always moving. Because they can smile more, can't they? Be better at makeup, or dress more flattering. Be more clever with their words or actions. Be more and more and more. It doesn't matter where you're at, the goal post is always twenty yards ahead.

So i wish they'd just left that scene as it was. Let professionally made-up, stunning Margot Robbie say, "I'm not pretty" with no setup for a quick punchline. Let the audience question how that can't be right - that Margot Robbie is classic Holywood beautiful. Keep the close-up on Margot's face of utter despair because, yes, even she's been made to feel like she's not pretty.

After pondering on it for several days, I have officially decided I did not like the direction of KFP4 and have banished it from my brain. It is no longer canon. KFP4? What's that? Don't know what you're talking about.

No, but why am I emotionally unstable and affection starved enough to literally be brought to tears after watching The Wild Robot in the cinema today?!!

I was literally sitting in the back with tears forming in my eyes and my throat started choking up, until I realized I had an indifferent and calm demeanor to maintain and couldn't afford to break down crying while the 4 year olds were giggling.

Like the idea of missing out on love and acceptance because of having to prioritize fitting in and abiding to societal expectations to survive!

Being ostracized, then finding people you relate to only to realize maybe they don't need you, don't want you, either; constantly questioning where you should go, what you should do with yourself, if you even have a purpose to begin with! And now you feel even more isolated and unloved because now you know what you're missing! Learning to love, only to have to learn to live without it! And the sentimental music composition wasn't helping either!

Fuck.

Like I've literally been emotionally on edge for months, unable to feel anything genuine and this is what pushes me over it? And I couldn't even cry to experience the catharsis!!!

Watched Mutant Mayhem! It's pretty good, didn't re-write my brain chemistry or anything, but it does some novel stuff that I thought was interesting.

My only advice is to not watch it in 3D, lmao, it actively detracts from the experience

August chuckled as Beau came around to refill both Dorian and August's glasses (the Burke patriarch having decided to be daring enough to have a glass of wine with dinner). Smiling as slyly as the young master, Beau replied, "Only here and there-I knew what Mr. and Mrs. Gracey expected of their son, and so I tried to keep him in the classroom as much as I could, learning the violin, French, cursive, all lessons they wanted me to teach him...but what good was having a young friend on the estate if they couldn't play together?"

"A very good point," August admitted-all work and no play never did a young mind any good, he felt, and so he could get behind Beau allowing his young charge to run free and enjoy his childhood, especially with his grandson. It had to have been a pleasant change of pace for the both of them, given the lives they both led.

"And besides, Dorian didn't need my help in his delinquency," Beau chuckled. "Even before he met Randall, he was always very clever at sneaking out when I had my back turned and taking off down the hall to find some sweets and hole up somewhere I couldn't find him. Between the two of them, Dorian was easily the brains of the operation."

"Guilty as charged!" Dorian grinned, raising his hand as he added, "If anything, Randall did his best to keep us out of trouble, while I was the one trying to make trouble in the first place!"

date night! James and I went to go see the new Ninja Turtles movie in gold class and we were the only ones in the cinema!....... until like 2 minutes after the bumpers started and a family walked in lol-- but it was really good!

I hope we can make this our go-to date idea so we can slowly use up this $200 gift card we've been sitting on for like 2 years now lmao
