The One That Got Away

Ghost x Reader (Chapter I)

You were in your parents home, getting unpacked and prepping your room for stay over holidays. Dusting around some of family pictures and smiling, remembering each and every moment they were taken at.

You didn't visit your old home town much since your work was important and you didn't get much free time, so this holiday season you decided to go back, spend some time with your parents and your siblings who were yet to arrive.

Snow was already falling slowly and lazily outside so the holiday spirit was at its peak.

As you were strolling over some of the old highschool books you noticed a dusty highschool yearbook, it was from your tenth grade.

You sat on your squeaky bed and opened it, gliding your eyes over some familiar and not so familiar faces.

Your eyes stopped at one particular name and your heart felt heavy, beating fast in your chest you bit your lip and blushed a bit, his name revoking some old memories. His picture was missing, but in your mind you could see him clearly, every single line of his face..

"Simon Riley"

It hot outside, even the breeze of September was warm. You wore your school uniform, having your trusty black school bag hanging on your shoulder, your honey blonde hair tied up in a bit messy ponytail with a little bow clip on the side of your head.

It was your first day of tenth grade and you already missed the summer and vacation remembering how well filled your free time was, every day being out with your friends, laughing, taking pictures and having pool parties.

You took a deep sigh and looked around the high school yard your eyes searching for your best friend, she was late as usual so you decided to sit on one of the free benches near the parking lot.

Slowly folding your skirt, not wanting it to get all messed up, you sat down, crossing your legs and placing your bag next to you, saving place for your friend when she eventually arrives.

Loud sound of some kind of engine caught your attention and your blue eyes darted towards the parking lot.

A guy in black leather jacket that had British flag on shoulder, and dark blue jeans that had a few cuts parked his black big bike. He had his helmet on, it was black aswell, with some stickers of skulls on the side.

He turned the engine off and got off the bike, putting the brake down as he did. The bike was one of them oldies, but it was shining on the sun, it looked dangerous.

He removed the hamlet now, and you could clearly see his face.

He was about your age, even though he was tall and kinda bulked up. He had brownish hair and soft face lines, but before you could see his eyes he reached out to his pocket and thew dark "Ray Ban" shades over them.

You realised that you were staring now at this point, and not wanting to be caught you quickly turned around, pulling out your cell and going into your gallery, pretending to be looking at something.

But, in a matter of mere seconds your bag was in your lap, and the guy was now sitting next to you not giving single care that you were obviously saving the seat for someone.

You darted your eyes towards him but he was unbothered, instead he reached for his pocket on the jacket, and pulled out pack of cigars and zippo lighter, taking one cig between his lips and lighting it up, inhaling the smoke deeply before he returned the lighter into his pocket.

You were now furious, it was obviously prohibited to smoke on school grounds.

"Excuse me, could you put that smoke out? You are killing me along with yourself"

You said with stern and annoyed voice, he looked at you and smirked, raising his eyebrow. He even chew a gum, to make him look more like an complete asshole.

Boy leaned in towards you, slowly, and you blushed leaning back away from him. Next thing you knew you were choking in the ciggarete smoke that he blew into your face, laughing at the face you made along with the coughing sounds.

"How rude! You really don't have any shame!" You screamed at him now, furiously , which only ignited louder laugher inside of the boy.

You furrowed your eyebrows and stood up, taking your school bag and throwing it over your shoulder

"You have no manners and you are such a simpleton!" You spat the words, turning around on your heels, and almost jogging into the school hoping to never see him again.

After few overly boring classes, it was lunch time and you were in canteen with your friend, waiting in queue with her so she can get her lunch, you already had your packed since school food was, well it was questionable at most and full of carbs you didn't need.

"I need to go to washroom, I'll be right back Susanna" you said to your friend before you pecked her cheek and turned around to head your way, but you were met with a loud crash and something cold ran down your white shirt.

"What the-" you said loudly before you looked up and saw the same guy who now had his shades off, his hazel eyes looking down at you and resting on your chest.

"I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU-" you shouted and whole canteen looked at you. Your eyes filled with tears from embarrassment and your cheeks were red as an apple.

You pushed the guy away and ran towards the girls washroom that was just around the corner.

You looked into the mirror, your eyes full of tears, now red. Neatly ironed uniform that you wore was now covered with dark cola stains that rested over your chest.

Humiliated. Thats how you felt. Of course you didn't have reserve shirt, and of course you didn't know how the hell will you go back and face all of the people who saw that exchange few minutes ago.

A loud knock on the washroom door pulled you out of your panic state,

"Susanne do you have a shirt please? I can't go like this around the school, everyone will laugh!"

You yelled and the doors opened but your friend didn't say anything, instead you heard the doors closing.

"I don't have a shirt, but I might be able to help with your situation doll"

A man's voice could be heard and you panicked even more. "What the hell?" You thought

You turned towards the doors and saw him- that wretched human who just couldn't leave you alone this day it seemed.

"I think you've done enough, now please leave, this is a girls washroom or I'll scream and you'll get suspended or even better expelled."

You spat at him with low voice, turning away, but instead of answer, something hit you on the head, blocking your vision, it was warm and dark.

"Its the least I can do..and just so you know I am not a huge "share" guy, so you are welcome you stuck up.."

You grabbed the fabric that was over your head and pulled it down, having your vision back.

You held the jacket in your hands and glared at the guy.

"I wouldn't want to be found dead wearing this around! Its tasteless and it smells like cigarette factory! People will think that I am a loser or even worse that I am with someone like you!"

You threw the jacket back to him and he caught it with ease raising his dark eyebrow at you.

"Are you really that concerned about what will the poosh scum in this school say or think about you?"

You were now furious, you just wanted him gone, away from you, away from this room. You wished this whole day was just a nightmare and that you were still in bed, dreaming. Your mum will come upstairs to wake you up and see you off. But, the problem was that the whole morning and day were very real, and he was real and he wasn't leaving.

"Do I care? Yes, I care. These people love me, they care about me, they think highly of me and they respect me. Why would I even need to explain that to you, newcomer who is trying so hard to be tough and macho, thinking that you can just roll in with your shiny bike and make new rules?! Well guess what, no one will ever like you or accept you here because of your shitty behaviour, your mum should've raised you better and I absolutely am disgusted by you.

Now leave. I wont tell you the third time."

You let your rage get better of you and you didn't even think about the words that you were saying, wether they hurt him or not, and deep inside you knew that but you couldn't stop your tongue for spitting venom into his direction.

He just stood there, looking at you softly, before turning around and nodding his head. He didn't seem to be hurt by the words.

You didn't want to look at him so you turned away, looking at the mirror and trying to clean your shirt with some cold water when you heard doors being opened but before you could relax you realised that the door never closed instead you heard his voice again.

"You know, they were laughing when you ran away.." guy sad and the doors were shut. You were alone in the washroom again, the soothing sound of the water from the sink pulling you into deep thoughts.

"What? There is no way..he is a liar. They all love me, they were all probably concerned about me when I left in panic.." your thoughts were everywhere and you shut your eyes close, splashing your face with cold water.

"They were..right?" You thought again and opened your eyes, looking towards the doors.

There on the hanger was a black leather jacket, hanging and you took a deep breath, he left it for you, and the sting of regret pinched you on your chest - you really said some fucked up things.

Girl sighed and walked towards the hanger, taking the black jacket and sliding her arms inside. It was still warm. She zipped it up so that it would cover the stain on her chest and to her surprise she grabbed the collar and smelled it which caused her to cough- yeah it did smell like cigars after all. She smiled to herself and the bell for the next period rang, it was time to face people, again.

The class what unusually quiet, your friend didn't say much about what happened after you left, but you knew her well enough to know that she loved you and didn't want to hurt your feelings probably.

"What the hell are you wearing? Dont tell me that you and that guy are a thing!" Susanne said with angry but hushed voice, she didn't want the jocks at the back to hear your conversation even though the entire time they were eying you and giving you dirty looks.

"What?! No! How could you think something like that, are you crazy? I ordered him to give me this and of course that he obeyed. I didn't have a spare shirt.. and I can't walk around looking like Carry when she forgot to adjust her pad.."

You were lying, of course you were, and you wanted to stop but you couldn't, you didn't want your friend to think less of you and your authority you had in the school.

Your image that you were building all this time couldn't be crumbled now, when you only had one year left in this place, now when you were one of the most popular girls in the school, at the peak of being main cheerleader, but you could hear the whispers and laughs that were present.

Jeff was showing something to the others at the back of the classroom, you could see his phone in his hand and everyone he offered the peek at the screen was looking at you with sly smile that lingered on their lips.

You buried your head in your hands, just praying that class will be over soon so you could go home and by tomorrow, something else will happen and everyone will forget about what happened, and your prayers were answered- the bell rang and you packed quickly, saying your goodbyes to Susanne as you darted towards the classroom doors- it will be over at last.. but things aren't always so simple are they?

"So (y/n), you and the new guy in a bathroom?" You heard stupid Jeff's voice and you stopped in your tracks, turning around to face him, your cheeks getting red a bit.

"Excuse me?" You said while furrowing your eyebrows, will this day ever end?

"Carry saw you two inside there, no wonder you have his jacket. First day of new year and you already hop on the new guy? Thought it will take more time to forget me.."

Oh yeah, you forgot to mention that Jeff was your ex who broke up with you over the text on the summer vacation while you were away with your friends. Yeah, Jeff is a persona non grata in your life, his stupid blue eyes and stupid blonde hair.

"What the hell are you talking about Jeff? I don't even know him, did you hit your head on football practice or something?" You said and whole class watched the exchange, all of the girls eying you with judging look in their eyes, you friend Susanne staying quiet.

Jeff took his phone from the pocket and unlocked it with sly grin on his face, his fingers tapping over screen before he pushed the screen in front of your face. It was a picture of you and the guy in the bathroom, took as it looks like through the slightly opened washroom door.

You now blushed uncontrollably, your eyes getting filled with tears, you were never in this situation before, they all loved you, they never judged you, they never picked on you. How is this happening to you, the belle of the school? Usually you would be the one to laugh at someone because of some stupid picture, how did all the world turn on you? Was this karma?

As first tears started rolling down your reddened cheek, you felt hand on your shoulder that pulled you against someone. You could feel his breathing on your back, it was not regular, as if the person that held you was angry .

"Yes, she is with me, what will you do about that you twat?" The familiar voice spoke and you couldn't help but smile on the inside, it was him, where the hell did he come from? "Is he a stalker? Please, no, anything but that.."

"The used goods suit your style Riley. Not that I am bragging but.." Jeff was now furious, trying to humiliate both of them, throwing around insults that he knew were not true. "Riley? Was that his name? How the hell does Jeff know him?"

"Yeah, well, I like fixing broken things mate, what can I say.." Riley said with a smile on his face and pulled you out of the classroom.

"Lets go doll, I have a huge problem, and only you can fix it" you looked up at him confused and a bit disoriented. What the hell was happening?

As he was basically almost carrying you out on the front doors you pouted and kicked at him

"What the hell was that? Me fixing your shit?! You were the one who put me in this position at the first place you arse! Let me go!"

You squiled as the guy that dragged you laughed "Or what? Will you run to the principal? What will you say? Oh ,sir ,this man just saved me from humiliation infront of the whole class and not just once but twice! Can you believe how good of a lad he is?" Riley now teased you, changing his voice into his best version of femine voice.

Your head was spinning, you just wanted to go home and sleep. You were angry, sad and happy at the same time. You reminisced on the day when Riley finally stopped dragging you around, when you looked around you were on the parking lot, next to his bike- right where all this madness started.

You were quiet, looking down, avoiding his gaze that was fixed on your face. You twirled your skirt in your hands before looking up at him finally.

"I wont go to principal..and yes you were right. Is that what you wanted me to say? That all this" you pointed at school building behind you and then at your ponytail that was now sad looking "is fake? Okay fine, I'll admit it. Its fake, all of it. They hate me and I hate them, I can't stand them. There, you win, Riley"

You were now fired up ,angry with yourself and felt defeated. This hazel-eyed guy in front of you turned your whole world upside down in just one day and you didn't have any control over it, you didn't have any control over your choices and it scared you, you never felt that way.

"I don't want to win, I just want you to open your pretty eyes and see the world as it is. Now, are you gonna linger there and yell at me more or are we going?"

He smiled at you and wiggled his eyebrows, you took a deep breath and then furrowed your eyebrows at him once more.

"We? We are not going anywhere. I am going home and thats it."

You said, crossing your hands over your chest looking away from him.

Riley mounted his bike and chuckled at you

"Come on, I'll get ya home, I owe you that much for all of the crap that happened today.." he patted seat behind him and you pouted, weighing your options.

"Okay, but if you miss any of the directions I am about to give you I am jumping off and calling the coppers. Are we clear?"

Riley laughed at your statement and gave you the helmet and you mounted the bike.

You softly laid your hands on his back and he chucked as he started the bike.

"You'll have to grab better if you don't want to fly off on the first corner we take ,doll"

You blushed under the helmet and warped your hands around his waist, holding him tightly and resting your head on his back. You just now noticed how nice he actually smelled, it was some mixture of that "replay" perfume you really liked.

Riley pulled the bike break and you two drove off the dreadful parking lot.

After some yelling at him and wanting to push him off the motorcycle , you two were now two houses away from your own. You told him to stop and he did.

You almost fell off trying to get off the bike for some reason and you could hear his laughter, it was cheerful and it suited his calming and a bit raspy voice.

You hanged your bag over the shoulder and gave him back his helmet.

"I suppose I should thank you?" You blinked at him and even let a small smile linger on your lips. He was looking at your face, your eyes especially.

"No need... It was my pleasure doll.",

You could now see that he was staring at your face and you blushed.

"What are you looking at? Do I look that bad?",

you questioned and he averted his gaze, looking down at the pavement, still having huge smile over his face. You noticed that he had dimples on his cheeks when he smiled like that, and well.. He was cute.

"No, nothing like that. Its just..this is the first time I saw you smile since I met you this morning..", he said and ran his hand through his messy hair.

"Yeah, well... I didn't have much to smile at today did I?", you bit your lower lip and averted gaze away from him.

He said slowly nodded his head in approval to your words.

"Well.. Guess I'll see you tomorrow..", you said and waved at him, starting to walk away to your home before you remembered one important thing. You could hear that he started his bike already.

"WAIT! I mean.. Wait!"

You yelled, running back towards the bike, he raised his visor of the helmet he already put on and blinked at you.

"Whats your name?", you asked him and tugged hair that was in your face away behind the ears.

"Simon.. Simon Riley. And you?"

He said and you bit your lip smiling at him,

"Its (y/n)..", you said shyly now and he the gas of his bike looking at you.

"Well, see ya 'morrow, (y/n)."

He said and winked at you before lowering the visor and driving off, not even waiting for your response.

You stood on the pavement and smiled to yourself.

"Simon. A name to match that crazy personality of his and..", you thought to yourself before facepalming in the middle of the street.

You realised that you were still wearing his black jacket.

"That cheeky bastard plans everything in advance doesn't he..?"

maybe talk about a few games, shows, movies, pieces of media in general that you’re looking forward to coming up? or stuff you've been meaning to check out

hmmm okay

the obvious first, arrowverse stuff is coming back in a few months… for a long time i didn’t watch much tv, let alone tv as it was airing, so being in a fandom that does is kind of exciting! anyway. im most EXCITED for legends, because everything about s4 sounds great so far. arrow��. is going to exist. and i will have to watch some of it. and while im less invested in the flash, it is nice to talk to my sister about it when it’s airing. soo i am looking forward to the fall

let’s see, what games am i looking forward to… death stranding, obviously. everyone knows im hype about that at this point. uhhh, the new assassin’s creed looks VERY interesting. i was into dragon age for a while, and ubisoft taking nods from bioware when bioware steps back on that is… interesting. TLOU2 looks good, and TWAU2 is coming out someday, right? what else from e3… uh

im also looking forward to heaven will be mine, which is by the same people who did we know the devil, which i loved. thats not high on anyone’s radars, but im looking forward to it

also new mainline pokemon game some…. day….? even if i don’t actually play much of the new games, i love the hype of learning about a new gen!

oh i am obligated to add that the new wow expansion is coming out soon! battle for azeroth aka BOFA (or BFA, i guess, if you’re boring). some things ive seen have made me a bit worried, especially since we’re just coming off of a really GOOD xpac, but there are some things im very excited for. expect me to be just gone for like 3 days in august when it drops,

movies, movies… i want to see ocean’s 8 but i am not sure i am gonna get a chance while it’s still in theaters. maybe later. i am also weirdly looking forward to destination wedding? it looks funny is a very particular way. also some of the horror things like suspiria and hell even the nun (annabelle 2 was pretty good, and the nuns looks… okay, but sometimes okay is all you need)

i’m hesitantly hopefuly about birds of prey! thats a while off, but… i have hope in the DCEU because it feels like it’s just having an identity crisis. a little bit like pre-avengers mcu, which was very hit or miss. dceu is uh, maybe a bit more miss, but. wonder woman was good! and justice league was okay. so i feel like if the dceu just hunkers down and gets more down to earth, it can turn it around. plus the idea of a birds of prey movie is exciting (even if harley’s involved? whatever. it could work). im not as familiar with the comics as i should be, but.. the possibility of black canary or even huntress on the big screen! i hope the roster they pick doesn’t end up being weird. but as long as they do it right (and a female director? and a smaller budget seems like a good sign) i think it could be big. the dceu’s biggest advantage rn is the fact they DID get out a female solo film before marvel, and it was really fucking good. if they can pull out a good female team film, that gives them a lot of cred imo

i guess i’m hesitantly interested in aquaman, but i wasn’t too impressed with him in justice league. well, maybe a solo film can turn that around.

on a lighter note, the great british baking show is airing right now! i like to watch that with my parents sometime. i like cooking shows when i’m not feeling well, and this one is very…. feel good. they dont ramp up the tension and drama like a lot of other food shows do (which isnt necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes you want to watch cutthroat kitchen and sometimes you don’t). and since it’s baking there’s lots of pastries and sweet things that i am actually invested in thinking look good. its one of those comfort shows, tbh

i feel like theres more but i am, inevitably, forgetting

COMIC TEA PARTY- THURSDAY BOOK CLUB START!

Good evening, everyone~! This week’s Thursday Book Club is officially beginning! Today we are discussing Chasing Little Lights by Evelyn Shi~! (http://www.cllcomic.com/)

Remember that Thursday discussions are completely freeform! However, every 30 minutes I will drop in OPTIONAL discussion questions in case you’d like a bit of a prompt. If you miss out on one of these prompts, you can find them pinned for the chat’s duration. Additionally, remember that while constructive criticism is allowed, our focus is fun and respectfully appreciating the comic. All that said, let’s begin!

QUESTION 1. What is your favorite scene in the comic so far and why?

my favorite scene so far is probably...well okay its not really a scene so much as a moment in a scene. but when soren is walking around with valentin and noticing that valentin already has like 1 billion friends. i can just severely relate to soren in that moment. it has some fantastic facial expression and i just love the panel framing too. theres kind of this sense of isolation whenever you see valentin interact. and even though soren is there, you get this sense he is the one out of place. and i just really think the visual aspects alone express that kind of loner thing he has going on

i'm really glad you took note of that scene! i wanted to capture their different personalities - they are friends and get closer as the comic progresses, but soren is quite shy and valentin is a classic extrovert! i think valentin doesn't intend to single out people sometimes but he can give off that vibe

actually honestly i really love valentin and soren's interactions. theyre very different people, and usually when you have an extrovert and an introvert they kind of butt heads. but nah, in this case valentin is like "hey buddy lets get bubble tea" and to me thats just super refreshing to see.

another scene i really like was the fencing scene. it played out exactly how i imagined it would: elena got her arrogant butt beaten by someone with infinite more years experience. but what i like more is that she doesnt expect this. instead to retreats further into her belief that she just wasnt on her a-game. cause i feel this is a moment that is true to how a real person would act.

and i also like how it preps for future drama

that's great!! yeah i wanted valentin to be a good hearted person inside, even if he gives off an absentmindedly popular vibe! but of course there will be fights between the characters>:)

mhm! for me the fencing scene got quite tedious actually, as i wanted to have the action play out in maybe a few weeks, rather than dragging on for over a month. but i can only make a page per week with school and all, so i'm glad you enjoyed that!

all the characters are good people despite their flaws- elena's is arrogance obviously. we'll see how her character growth plays out in the future!

yeah theres no doubt in my mind theyre good people. but i love all their flaws because theyre poignant and feel super realistic. not to mention i really enjoy a lot of the elements that stress them out cause to a degree it helps to make them feel their age.

mhm, in future chapters - especially chapter 4, which is coming up soon, there will be more dramatic/challenging obstacles in the plot that will test their innocence as kids

i wanted to emphasize the coming of age aspect in the story because some challenges force you to grow up

exactly what im hoping for. cause these kids are def in a situation where their innocence is gonna be tested. what with all the air pollution.

can i ask where you got the idea of a setting with air pollution sickness?

Rebel - I kind of liked that scene with Valentin having all the friends, but I think what I liked more was kind of the follow-up, when Kasen sees Soren with Valentin and thinks, geez, that guy's already got a friend. Kind of a perspective shift.

i live in Shanghai, China, and air pollution has been a pretty big issue here! it has gotten better over the past few years but it's still very polluted. air pollution is also quite bad in areas like mongolia and india and other parts of asia

QUESTION 2. The comic’s setting is one where air pollution can be rampant enough to cause a fatal sickness called contamina. Given Valentin’s blood-filled coughing, do you believe he has contracted contamina? Why do you believe he is so intent on hiding his symptoms, especially from Elena? If Valentin does have contamina, do you believe he’d come to accept it or continue to live in denial? Whether he has contamina or not, how do you believe the others will react to finding out about the coughing? Overall, do you think Valentin’s health problems will change the group’s opinions on how normalized the air pollution is? How might this change their future goals?

mathtans - to add on i think soren and kasen are more similar in personality than elena and val, defnitely! but they face very different challenges, so i think it makes them different in that way too:))

i am also a high school student! so i think CLL is at least semi-autobiographical in many ways

I've been reading most of your little author notes btw eleviken. I think it's very cool that you're using your location as a setting. (Also, your field trip to Mongolia sounds really interesting, possibly more interesting than it was, I dunno.)

I think Valentin is hiding the symptoms for a couple reasons. One, if people start talking about it, that makes it "real" and harder to deny to himself. Second, since his parents died due to pollution, he doesn't want his sister to have to go through the same kind of thing again.

what really!!! i love leaving the author notes as a record to what i'm up to that week, but i didn't expect too many people to take note! my trip was a culture/service trip and it was definitely interesting, as it was quite different from the big city life in Shanghai

I wonder if on some level, like subconsciously, Valentin is hoping for a breakthrough that helps out his own health. And Elena's dismissal of his attempts at research may not be helping with that (though I get why she does it).

eleviken: Yup, I'm one of those readers who tends to check out Q&As and Author Notes and stuff. In particular I was interested because I've never been to China or anywhere in the far East. Cool!

(I'm also a high school teacher, so there's that side of me, pleased to see students doing creative things. )

i honestly feel the denial is more for valentin's sake than elena's sake. because hes what, 14? 14 is not the age where youre ready to accept mortality. 14 is the age where you believe youre super invincible and nothing ever bad will happen to you ever. can do whatever you want for you are the immortal one. and to accept he has contamina is to accept that whatever he had planned in his future is now kaput. and i just dont think hes ready for that, thus the hiding.

not to mention denial is the first stage of the 5 stages of grief

valentin is definitely an optimist, and as the creator it even makes /me/ sad to see (or make lol) him suffer. he's definitely holding out hope for a miracle about his health, whether it turns out to be contamina or not. he is definitely at a point of denial, by filling his life with fun and his new friends to forget about the problem!

eh i feel that the hiding it from others goes along with hiding it from himself. cause i get more the impression hes hiding it from the others to protect himself more than to protect the others. cause if he told elena, shes going to make a fuss and treat him like hes dying. and he cant very well live in denial about dying if everyone treats him like hes dying.

val and elena definitely have the petty sibling dynamic, but with their parents gone they are also looking out for each other. elena isn't good at expressing her emotions, though, so it's not directly stated that she's protective! i think part of his not-wearing-a-mask-stupidity is denial as well. as someone who's inclined to be happy, Val really wants to hold on to that happiness!

Ah soren's grade issue is quite important too! i think the pressure to achieve perfect grades is a reality for many students, and i especially see it at my school.

Speaking as a teacher, I feel like society (well, North American society at least) is starting to put way too much emphasis on grades, and not enough emphasis on, y'know, actually learning stuff. Students tend to ask me "how can I get an 80%" not "how can I understand this unit better".

Rebel: Good point. It's said to not be contagious, but if people think that only poorer types who can't afford to replace their masks get the disease, that might be part of it.

fffuuunnnyy story, asuka is actually (heavily) based on vhawks.. he’s the one that i slapped vhawks onto when i decided i liked him too much to keep him as a bnha rp character.. he does have a couple things changed abt him tho!!! #1 he Obviously doesn’t have wings and that... kind of does affect him Big Time aaand #2 his Tragic Backstory will be ... a lot better than hawks’ and also very different...

i actually wanted to play with some of the dynamics that hawks has in the rp, so i do have characters that are loosely (looooosely... very loosely...) based off of people in his life.. im playing with the idea of putting danny in the younger brother position (kisses mono), particularly because i think it would be interesting to tie asuka into quin & rins arc (holy shit!) but i’ll talk abt that when i get to quin.. my baby... the loml...

also G is definitely a character who came from me wanting to replicate someone in asukas life being above him and being someone they’re desperate for approval from among other things... except g spiralled the FUCK out of control and is now just a fucking mess and ... hoo.... hoooooooo.... i love them they’re.... HOO. . . i’ll talk abt them someday...

eran is ,, stupid rich murder baby... there’s a few different parts of his family... he’s rins stupid idiot cousin, and rins area ISNT the most wealthy (because his fathers a fucking idiot) but erans IIIISSSSSSS.... but i wont get into that because i don’t have it all sorted...

my FAVOURITE eran fact is that he 100000% tries to at least significantly maim someone at every family reunion, and he always ALWAYS manages to start a fight. one year he starts one with one of my wonderful beautiful girls athena and gets his ass beat by her... that’s what he deserves.

eran likes to be very high and mighty a lot... he has a big superiority complex and that would be FINE if he had traits to make it like... justifiable? he’s generally pretty average for the resources he had. yes he WAS academically successful, but also he had access to... all of the tutors and private lessons and private schools and private everything... all of it.. in the world. that was VERY MUCH expected of him, and he lived up to it, because he had to and he had nothing better to do. but aside from that he doesn’t have any particular talents? unless being an idiot counts?

he’s disconnected emotionally unless it’s his emotions. like he can’t connect that he feels this anger so the other person feels the same anger. it doesn’t happen. and it makes him very..!! disconnected in every single way... i’m not sure if he even cares tho... he’s prolly just like :/ haha oh well, guess i’m just better than them because i’m not so over reactive.. his parents didn’t like it a whole lot because they figured he’d be the next successful leader but they didn’t want such a confused kid who didn’t understand peoples needs being the Leader... so they moved on to his siblings... of which i will some day figure out... altho he definitely has sisters.. i know that.

so, anyways, i made a WHOLE oc just for him to bond with, and that’s D and someday i might give him a name but atm i dont care enough. anyways, D surrounds himself with red neon signs and after they start Working Together, because erans bored and decides visiting ... big crime areas would be a good idea and it turns into a BIG FUCKING MESS, eran is like... exiled. and he whines for 5 minutes before turning around and going back to being to wonderful murder boy he was always meant to be...

also he has bright red hair.

and QUIN my baby boy, the light of my life, the wonderful beautiful kid, who has a name that switches rapidly between two n’s and one n, and also who bleaches his hair because he’s jsut so stupid... he never fixes his roots either... dumbass.

QUINS A BASKETBALL PLAYER, he’s big and tall and lanky and happy and !!! generally really pleasant ! he’s dannys best friend in the world and they’re In Gays or whatever, maybe, not really but IN SPIRIT....

he comes into the story Big Time because of involvement with Rin and his big thing with... doing whatever he’s doing idfk anymore.. but they are ??? a partnership of sorts. which is what makes having danny and asuka know each other interesting! D and G are both involved with each other, specifically because of clashing personalities and views and everything, and they hate each other SO FUCKING MUCH!!! and it’s just wonderful, they hang out a lot. so asuka and eran would, inevitably, end up meeting. of fucking course the entire family is widely known-when asuka meets eran it wouldn’t be a secret that he’s the family outcast (bro they have like 12 family namejshgfd) and he’d KNOW he’s related to rin, and then danny and quin would talk and they’ve just... got nice connections with each other...its sexy. (danny and quin knwing Lots of family secrets and how that’d mess w quins view on rin andddd... how rin would feel if he found out his perfect lil cohort was hanging out with his awful evil cousin.... oh yes.... )

anyways quin has a nice arc which i want to keep somehow where wings literally uhhh grow out of his back very very violently and its gory and gross and painful and it ruins him and idk how i’ll incorporate it but i’ll fucking do it! watch me! he’s perfect and has never done a single thing wrong in his life ever.

I grew up like an old timey kid, I didn’t watch much tv, I played outside all the time, when the whole family was together the kids roamed free and nobody knew what we were doing, and all that was great, so in that sense, yes, i had a happy childhood. But i also struggled a lot with my parents divorce, and i remember experiencing depression first when i was 12, so in those senses, it wasn’t entirely happy. but isn’t everyone’s childhood (and life really) a combination?

I love this quote because I feel like its something we could all do with remembering these days. We get so caught up in who’s from what country, and who’s what religion, but the thing is that none of it matters. It doesn’t matter if we’re different ethnicities or different religions as long as we’re all open to each other and we all want the same things, if we all want peace.

Bands: talk about a song/band/lyric that has affected your life in some way.

Two years ago, I had a particularly difficult few months, in which I lost four family members in the span of three months, some very unexpectedly. about a month and a half later, patd released doab, and impossible year in particular was somewhat of a respite, and i listened to it constantly for a while.

Grunge: who in the world would you most like to receive a letter from and what would you want it to say?

sillier answer - it’d be great to get a letter from my crush saying he’s madly in love with me.

more serious answer - from someone dead, idk my aunt or one of my grandparents, just idk telling me things are going to be okay, that they’re proud of me, giving me advice? just anything really, just to hear from them. if it has to be someone living, then i guess from my ex, saying that everything that happened is okay, that he forgives me. i was young and still having a lot of trouble dealing with some of my issues, and it affected our relationship in negative ways, and being older and wiser now, i know that a lot of it wasnt healthy or fair, and it would be nice to know that its okay, no hard feelings.

Lightning: what’s the worst thing you’ve ever done while drunk or high?

BUCKLE YOUR SEATBELTS, ITS STORY TIME. I’ve got two different stories and one is more funny embarrassing kind of worst and the other is like shit show kind of worst.

Story #1. It’s sophomore year of college, Halloween, and I have a 9am flight back home in the morning, but my friend convinces me to go to the frats with her anyway, and we proceed to get shitfaced, and it should be known that I’m banned from using my phone when drunk because I have an embarrassing tendency to text anyone I can manage to open a conversation with “omg you’re so hot”. Except on this particular night, my friend decided to hook up with one of the frat guys, and me, not wanting to abandon her in a frat house, decided to park my ass in the hallway at like, the opposite end of the hall. But of course, then I’m bored as well as plastered, so I whip out my phone because aha there’s no one to stop me anymore, and I start talking to this guy in my class that I sort of had a thing for. And it’s going pretty well, we’re chatting, and I’m rapidly becoming more incoherent as the alcohol kicks in, and he asks me “how is it possible that you’ve become completely incoherent in such a short time span” to which my answer, i shit you not, was “idkkkk but you’re hottttt” perfectly executed, not a single letter out of place. i dont remember what his answer was because what really stands out is that apparently i also decided to try to send this message to my mother at 3:00 in the morning. which of course prompted her to try to call me at 4am because she got a completely unintelligible text message and obviously she thought i was being kidnapped.

Story #2. when i was in morocco, a bunch of university kids decided to throw a fourth of july party for the american students, and so they rented a house and got lots of beer and liquor and assorted drugs and really whatever they could get their hands on. so we’re partying and having fun, and i decide i want a little bit of a buzz, so my friend and i decide to go try to find some weed to smoke, except what they dont teach you in language classes is how to ask for weed, so we’re trying to mime this to some guys and idk eventually we think we’re all on the same page, so she and i start smoking with them, and we smoke a lot, like seriously, large quantities of weed, and naturally i make out with one of the guys in return for the weed, and this guy that i sort of liked walked in on us, which was kind of awk, and so then i went after him and told him that it should’ve been him i was making out with, could still be him if he wanted (why i thought that was a good idea i’ll never know), anyway, at some point i went upstairs, talked to this other guy who is super awesome, but he’s drinking out of a bowl which is very confusing to my mind so i ask about it and he says its magic soup, and im like holy shit magic soup thats fucking awesome, and he gives it to me to try and im like wtf dude that is not magic soup thats fucking beer, i spend some time talking to people, the whole time i cant seem to decide which language i want to speak like im switching back and forth every other sentence. i go back downstairs and am hanging out (i may have smoked some more, i dont remember?) and then i decide to go upstairs, and someone else also goes upstairs, but at this point the paranoia starts to set in and i decide that the other person is following me, so i fucking run upstairs, crying, and find my sober friend, and cant manage to explain whats wrong so my friend is just kind of like okay how bout some sleep and helps me get settled, except the poor guy has to also take care of our other friend who’s vomiting, but i start sobbing every time im left alone, so its a fucking mess, and then somebody says the police are coming, so we all fucking run for it, except its like 2-3am and our university is closed campus, and the gates are locked until 6am, so we cant go back, so we find a park and decide to sleep there, and which point i’m a royal pain in the ass, and magic soup guy has to give me is button down and backpack so i can sleep comfortably on my bench, and then at 6am we went back to campus, got out stuff, and met the bus for an 8 hour drive to the fucking desert and let me tell you ive never wanted someone to kill me more than i did on that fucking bus ride. and that’s when i found out that it wasn’t weed we’d been smoking at all it was hasish, and long story short don’t ever smoke hashish like its weed because it will fuck you up

Once, a long time ago. He used to say there was a difference between loving someone and being in love with someone. I don’t know when I realized I was in love with him though, to be honest. It was such a long dance for us - first I hated him, then we were friends, then we were trading off liking each other while seeing other people. I guess… I guess there were two moments when I knew, kind of related. The first was shortly before we started dating. I wore a claddagh ring, one that I’d gotten in a flea market for like $10, but I never took it off, except when I was swimming. One day, I’d been at his house and we’d gone swimming, and I accidentally left my ring there, and I was freaking out when I realized, He wore it for a few days until he could get it back to me, and we had an in depth conversation about why it was so important to me, and I told him that it was symbolic but the actual physical ring meant nothing, and he told me that when he went to ireland a month later he wanted to get me a new one, so that i’d have one that meant something to me, not just symbolically. it was really touching, the fact that he paid attention to how important it was to me, and he wanted to do something to make it even more special. and to not even expect anything in return, i just remember feeling so special, like i was precious to someone else, irreplaceable, and it was an amazing feeling. the second time was i guess a little less than two months after we started dating, he was playing with the ring and made a comment about one day getting married, and he wouldn’t get me a diamond ring, he’d get me sapphire. it’s such a small thing, but it was… he knew me so well. i dont like diamonds, never really have, they’re too glittery and fancy for my taste, but anyway, idk just being with someone who knew me well enough to know that about me without me ever saying it, or ever really thinking about it, it just, idk, i felt like i was whole, complete. i felt like he was my other half, and it was just a very warm and fuzzy feeling, idk.
