tell me what you thought about season 3 of bridgerton. I also had really mixed feelings about the Michaela/Michael thing (like the last person) but overall the season was really okay for me. it felt like the PR was more than we got but otherwise I liked most it. i could have done without the Mondrich storyline and the 8 Benedict sex scenes but it was good.
I agree: The season was generally good. I liked it and have watched it several times now. (That is 90% my Nicola Coughlan obsession speaking, but nonetheless.)
Things that I thought were OUTSTANDING:
Agatha/Violet scenes - I fucking love them. Agatha is my fav character in the whole show, and that friendship is amazing. I am an Agatha, Charlotte, and Penelope girly as my top 3.
That scene outside of Genevieve's ("What good am I to you?") because fuck yes, Penelope. - Put that man in his place. Sometimes your only need for a man is to want him there because you love him.
Colin crying - 'nuff said.
Kanthony - there could have been more, but I understand.
Francesca & John - so relatable. I know you talked about Michaela being contentious, but I am excited for her. Again, I didn't read the books. I just want wlw. I loved John's interactions with the boys.
"You Belong With Me" for their wedding dance??? It's THEIR SONG, and I was so happy about it!
Lord Anderson - I am looking forward to him and Violet "gardening" in s4.
the Featheringtons and their character growth.
Nicola Coughlan's perfect breasts. 🥵😍
Things I DID NOT LIKE/WANTED MORE OF:
Not enough Polin scenes. Just in general there were not enough. Spicy would have been fine, but I am in the same camp as many that say they wanted more happy married life before the baby was born.
Colin accusing Penelope of trapping him and then never apologizing for it.
Colin telling Penelope she "has no say" in how the LW blackmail thing got handled. Like 🛑. You are JUST a man, Colin.
Luke Newton's wig for the wedding specifically (but it made other appearances).
Pen's wedding dress could have been more fairytale (but I do love how it highlighted her complexion, etc.).
Not enough Lord Debling/he didn't go with Cressida. I know she was the pt 2 villain, but like...he will be gone for three years.
Eloise was incredibly annoying without Pen. I didn't realize how Pen changed her and maybe softened her in ways. Her without that person to maybe not tame but guide her really showed that.
Too much Mondrichs. I think it would be cool if their son fell in love with Hyacinth and it was another friends to lovers we got to see evolve over time, but besides the ball and finally giving up the club, I feel like maybe 3 scenes in total would have been fine.
Too many Benedict sex scenes. The last was my fav by far, but for the most part they were fillers and didn't drive the plot. If they did it would have been different.
There's probably more, but that's all I've got.
I do think this is my favorite season yet because of Penelope, but there could have been changes. I hope they drop those deleted scenes, but even if they don't i am pretty satisfied with what we got. 💛

Bridgerton Season 3 Is Completely Out - Here's My Thoughts (Not Spoiler Free!)
Tumblr media
I never expected myself to become a sucker for Bridgerton yet here we are. It started after promotion for Season 3 began earlier this year. They began to drop the snippets, specifically the infamous "your eyes are the most remarkable shade of blue" scene. So, as soon as these scenes dropped, I felt some appeal. However, Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton really PULLED me into the trap. The PR and their genuine friendship brought me so much comfort and idealization. I still feel like an imposter in this fandom as I haven't watched the show from beginning to end. I'm hesitant to start it. I've already found myself being emotionally attached to these characters and their actors. It's formed a hyperfixation so that's a great new addition to my shelf of many fixations. But with that comes, a lot of dread to start a series in fear of me disliking their characters in previous seasons or feeling no appeal to other characters. I don't want to be that person.
Yet I still watched Season 3. I may not know every character and have a basic rundown of what's happened in previous seasons but I've enjoyed what I've seen. The first part of Season 3 focused on establishing the friends-to-lovers phenomenon between Colin and Penelope. Some aspects felt rushed but to me, it was pretty well done. However, when it comes to covering a book, there should definitely be more aspects of the book included. Many things were excluded, some for completely valid reasonings and others that didn't make sense. As many of the dearest gentle readers watched the second half of the season, many have echoed the same disappointment. Where was his declaration of love from the books? Why was there more anger than happy scenes? Why did they seem to skip many events from the book adaption?
Before we delve into this deeper, if you haven't read the original book (Romancing Mister Bridgerton: Penelope & Colin's Story by Julia Quinn), this is what we as a fandom are referring to:
“I love you,” he said, his voice low and fervent. “I love you with everything I am, everything I've been, and everything I hope to be.” “I love you with my past, and I love you for my future.” He bent forward and kissed her, once, softly, on the lips.
In many ways, we technically got something similar to this towards the end of Episode 8 but most longtime readers and watchers were looking forward to this moment. Not only that but the almost reversed sequence of events. However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. After all, this is a live-action adaption of the novelization. The novelization will forever reign superior.
Stlll, Luke and Nicola brought these characters to life with their blood, sweat, and tears. You can see through their art how serious and important these characters are to them. I think it's fair to say that I cannot wait to see them in future seasons, even though, they will no longer be the leads. I think that's another reason I dreaded the end of this season. I've enjoyed all the press, interviews, photoshoots, and friends made along the way.
To finish this off, I would like to applaud Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton. Not only did they provide us with happiness and joy but they showed their close friendship, highlighting their immense respect for each other. You don't see things like this in this business often. Of course, they played into some aspects of the PR but their friendship was never PR despite sites like DeuxMoi wanting to claim.
And with that dearest gentle readers, this is where we part. Not literally but this season has been an amazing journey for us all. I can't wait to see what the future has in store. I hope and pray that Nicola and Luke remain friends through all hate and rumors, as well. This won't be the last you hear of my Bridgerton ranting and rambling as I hope to actually start from beginning to end. I hope you all enjoyed this season as much as I have, even with some of the hurdles with the second half.

Wouldn't You Like to Know, Ch. 7
Seven
“Wait a minute, you’re going to the Bridgerton’s Sunday Dinner?” Philippa looked aghast when Penelope told her.
Penelope nodded. The two of them were taking a walk-through Central Park. It was something they had started doing when Penelope had started writing full time. Philippa worked at a fashion magazine as a receptionist, and she had related to Penelope a lot more once Penelope had told her she was an “assistant”. Funnily enough, Philippa was also obsessed with Lulu Rochester. She said she related to the way Lulu wrote outsiders, but Penelope couldn’t understand why.
Philippa had always been friends with Cressida Cowper, one of the most popular girls at their school. While she hadn’t had a lot of attention from boys, she had gone out on dates and Penelope could never remember anyone making fun of her except for her being a bit dense about things sometimes. But that was because Philippa cared more about fashion than about most of the rest of the things going on in the world.
“I don’t know,” Penelope said, “I’m sure Colin only invited me to be nice. He wasn’t expecting to see me there. He came to drop off papers for my boss.”
Philippa smiled. “So, it’s really happening? Wallflowers is being made into a movie?”
            Penelope nodded. “Yeah.”
“Oh---although it will be weird, watching it with someone we know in it. I never really thought of Colin as heartthrob material.”
Philippa had never watched Colin shirtless at lacrosse practice, unlike Penelope, who used to study by the field in the bleachers on purpose so she could watch him. God, how obsessed had she been with him? Now, he was back in her life, and making her feel that way again.
She hated how much he made her feel like a schoolgirl.
“I think that’s just because we grew up with him,” said Penelope, “but he seems excited about it. I think the whole thing will be great.”
“Exciting. What does your boss think?” Philippa said.
“She’s happy about the money she’s going to make,” Penelope replied.
Philippa smirked. “You know, it would be cute if the two of them ended up dating. Thin of how amazing that would be?”
Penelope shook her head and crossed her arms over her chest. It was late fall, and she had a jacket on. “Lulu likes to be left alone. She’s not one for publicity.”
Philippa shrugged. “Maybe Colin will do one of those fake, PR relationships with his co-star then. That could be fun.”
Penelope hated all of those ideas. Really, she hated any idea that anyone else but her would get to be with Colin. But it didn’t matter. To Colin Bridgerton, she would always be a charity case. The girl his mother forced him to dance with at prom because they’re families were friends and Violet Bridgerton felt sorry for her. Someone like Colin could never fall in love with a girl like her.
Philippa nudged her. “Promise me one thing.”
            “What’s that?” Penelope asked.
“Promise me that you aren’t going to get all attached to him again like you were when you were a teenager. You used to do everything for him and he treated you like dirt…but that’s kind of how it’s always been with them.  They view us as people that work for them and not really friends.”
Penelope shrugged. “Maybe. But you don’t have anything to worry about, Phil. My guess is that when I go over for dinner, Eloise will be mad at me, and I’ll get kicked out or something. I only hope it’s not before the eclairs.”
Philippa nodded. “Those eclairs are fucking amazing. I swear, Violet doesn’t put cream in there, she puts fucking crack. Will you steal me one, please?”
Penelope smiled. “I’ll see what I can do. I won’t have mom there this time watching me and making sure that I only eat one.”
Philippa squeezed her shoulder. “But I’m serious. The Bridgerton’s are very good at making you feel like you are the best thing since sliced bread one minute and then they can turn on you. You remember how they were when they found out about Dad. They treated us like we were the enemy too.”
“I mean…dad did steal from them, Phil. I’m not saying its right but I understand the anger that they must have felt. They were supposed to be able to trust him and look where it got us?”
Philippa glared at Penelope. “Don’t let mom ever hear you say that. She’ll disown you in a minute.”
Penelope opened her mouth almost to say that she didn’t need Portia Featherington’s money.  But Philippa knew that the two of them had both struggled on their own living in New York, and that every once and a while, their mom had helped them foot the bill. It wasn’t something Penelope particularly relished in, but New York was a bitch. “I’m not little Pen anymore, Philippa. I’m an adult. With a real job, and a brownstone. I’m not going to let Colin Bridgerton----or any of the Bridgerton’s----completely turn my head. I’ll be okay.”
Philippa nodded. “Okay. But please don’t let Eloise talk you into working for the New York Times. Journalists would eat you alive.”
“Hey!” Penelope said. “I’m tough enough I could be a journalist if I wanted to.”
            “Do you want to?”
Penelope shook her head. “No. Not really.”
“That’s what I thought. Eloise was always good at talking you into things. Remember that year you both thought it was a good idea to get perms?’
She winced. “Don’t remind me. Worst decision I have ever made in my entire life. And that includes the time that I asked Colin to prom thinking that he actually liked me.”
Phillippa shrugged. “Well, you’re both adults. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong and the two of you can be mature about this whole thing. I don’t want to see you have a broken heart, though.”
            “Thanks, Phila.”
            “Anytime, Pen.”

I hope you don’t mind if I share what’s been on my mind since June.
It’s love instead of hate but also … basic empathy.
This was his first major lead role / project. He worked his ass off for a year to film, another 6 months of PR. He talked about how excited he was to see the fans’ reactions and openly showed his nerves during the tour. He created art, put himself totally into it, met Nicola take for take with an incredible performance…
And has met so much hate.
It started in part one when “Colin gave everyone the ick” (because people don’t understand basic media literacy and missed that that was the point, he acted phenomenally). He admitted this hurt him while they were still doing press.
Then part two dropped and instead of praise for his work ethic, his incredible performance, the nuance and depth he gave Colin when he didn’t have near as much screen time as he deserved, the hate intensified.
How is his heart not broken? Could you imagine this? Spending years of your life creating art for the world and not getting one iota of credit for it because people are mad at you for not living up to a fantasy they have in their heads?
Luke Newton killed his role as Colin. He worked his literal ass off just AS MUCH as Nicola! He carried the tour with her. He dedicated his life to this for over a year. And he gave us some of the best acting we’ve seen on Bridgerton yet! His facial expressions, his delivery, the depth and the nuances.
I’m not speaking to wanting to show appreciation for him for anything other than his professional work. (I could, but this isn’t the place and time). Like the basic empathy to not shit on someone and start and flame a hate campaign when the work itself was top shelf just blows my mind. He deserves so much better. And I’m just so tired of seeing people pit him against Nicola like they are besties, like they didn’t work their asses off together. How you said, op, then this leads to more hate? I don’t get it!
I just can’t understand how broken and miserable people must be to not even have enough basic empathy and human decency to not hate this poor guy bc he did his job. This should be a high time for him, the highlight of his career, and the fans are being such wankers about it. I hope he is knows his performance is adored and he lets this shit wash off his back, but since he openly admitted how he was hurt, I have a feeling he’s probably struggling. I know I would be. And I hope he stays off sm, bc we clearly do not deserve access to him.
Anyways, I ranted, sorry. It’s just so nice to see a post come across my dash that has basic human decency attached to it. Fandom isn’t fun when it’s so hateful!
The more hate I read, the more I feel the need to say something about it.
Hate says much more about the people who spew it than about the person it is directed at.
People who think they have the right to publicly embarrass others are usually unhappy with themselves and feel bad about themselves, so to compensate they make other people feel bad too.
I always wonder what kind of satisfaction that is supposed to be.
I would much rather make people happy.
But what I understand even less is why do you spew hate at an actor you don't even know personally?
It's easy and there's no consequence to be expected.
It's spineless!
This hate is causing L to be just as reluctant to engage in SM as he has been for the past few weeks AND this hate is causing N to apparently feel compelled to defend him, which then leads to more hate. What's wrong with the world?
Love more!♥️ Love is so much easier and more beautiful than hate and feels so good when giving!
We need more love in the world, because hate leads to war and I thought we already had enough of that in real life
