i constantly flip back and forth between wanting the cats to be just feral cats to be just feral cats, wanting the cats to be feral cats with a society and little magic, or completely leaning into the magic

i had an idea to call them sub-cats bc yk normal cats can't/don't do stuff Clan cats do, but i feel like that's me shoving my speculative biology interest everywhere (i don't regret it)
