☆ boyfriend - cyj
synopsis - he remembers it too well, he doesn't know how to act properly around you, even after being friends, he keeps thinking about it.
-> yeonjun x reader
-> songfic, strangers to friends to lovers, kissing, slow burn, college au, drunken confessions.
-> warnings! alcohol is involved, you and yeonjun just started college, i don't know much about college but.. please bare with me.. written in yeonjun's perspective!
-> notes! ahhh yeonjun's new ost had me giggling and kicking my feet 😭😭 his vocal range is so fascinating + some parts are inspired by seasons of lovesome!
⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ call me back when you're sober
this was stupid, he regretted coming to this orientation programme made for the freshmen students. yeonjun stared into blank space, laughing at some joke one of the seniors cracked.
"aww come on! yeonjun, you barely had any of this soju. it's real good" one of the seniors slurred, grabbing onto the neck of the soju bottle, ready to tip some into the solo cup yeonjun was holding.
"haha, it's fine, i'm not that much of a drinker.." he chuckled nervously, shaking his head. his senior looked at him with a frown before singing happily to a song that was blasting in the speakers. yeonjun sighed, wanting to get out of the cramped k-bbq store and get some fresh air.
his phone suddenly started buzzing, causing him to take it out of his pocket, staring at the string of messages yeji sent.
yeji : come out of the store, i need help.
yeonjun : are you kidnapping me? freak..
yeji : shut the fuck up and come out.
yeonjun turned off his phone, slipping it into his picket before heading out of the store, running his hand through his hair.
"psst, here" at the sound of that, yeonjun almost shrieked.
"what the fuck?? why are you hiding in the alley—" his words were cut short when he noticed someone slouched beside yeji, completely drunk.
"this is yn, from the fine arts course, she was drinking a lot, so i decided to pull her here to prevent something worse from happening." yeji explained.
"then why am i here..?" yeonjun quirked an eyebrow, staring down at the two.
"so like, i gotta head out of here. my partner texted me, telling that we should leave together." she pointed to her phone, showing yeonjun her messages she had with her partner.
"alright. but you owe me one" yeonjun sighed, watching yeji jump up, giving him a thumbs up before leaving the alley. he turned down, looking at you stumble when yeji left, your only pillar of support had left. you turned up, staring at yeonjun through hazy eyes. you got up slowly with the aid of the wall. yeonjun was quick to grab your arm, helping you regain your balance.
⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ i'm afraid i might've never loved ya
maybe it was the alcohol in your system, maybe it was because there was an extremely attractive male standing infront of you, but your felt more bold, you didn't even know the guy. without a single thought, your arms were wrapped around yeonjun's neck, pulling him down to your level. his eyes widened, shocked and flustered, his heart racing. your messy hair and disshelved clothing made you more.. attractive in his eyes.
he was then met with a sudden kiss on his lips. usually he would push the person off, but it was weird, there was something about you that he was interested in. he pulled away quickly, holding onto your waist as he forced your arm over his shoulders, allowing you to put your entire body weight on him. this was stupid.
⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ when you fill my head full of a thousand thoughts
he didn't expect it. you were coincidentally in the same art history elective as him. since when was there a common class between the dance majors and the fine art majors? he looks around the lecture theatre, the only seat available was the one beside you. he quietly slide into the seat, nodding at you as a greeting. you copied the action.
it seemed like you couldn't recall the events that happened last night, but yeonjun clearly did. while you were focused on scribbling the notes down into your notebook, yeonjun was copying down the notes, with his head empty, only filled with thoughts from the night before.
⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ so why you looking at me like i'm your boyfriend, boyfriend
the class ended, yeonjun doesn't even know what the teacher talked about during the entire lecture. he glanced at you packing up your study materials. he mentally groaned at the fact that you can't seem to remember anything. he wants to know if you actually didn't know or if you are an expert at hiding your feelings. yeonjun carried his bag over his shoulder.
"yeonjun! can you teach me that one move you did in class?" a guy walked up to yeonjun, practically begging.
"yeah, sure." yeonjun nodded his head, about to head out of the lecture theatre until he came to a halt, "ah, hold on."
he noticed that you were still packing up your bags, shoving a notebook down into your bag. he knocked against the table, making you look up at him, startled.
"choi yeonjun, from the dance course. try to remember next time alright?" yeonjun smiled at you.
"oh, yn ln from fine arts.." you looked up at him, still confused at the current situation. yeonjun gave you a quick nod before walking away with his friends who were staring with shocked eyes. whispers immediately became more evident.
"i've never seen choi yeonjun flirt with anyone before."
"so he does have an interest in girls.."
"this guy has been hiding his power all along."
yeonjun scoffed at the murmuring, walking out of the lecture theatre. no one knew, not even you, only him.
⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ why you lookin' at me like i'm–
days slowly turned into weeks, you became friends with yeji, something you have been hoping for ever since she chugged your drink down at the freshman orientation party. yet the most unexpected thing happened, choi yeonjun.
ever since he introduced himself to you, you've been seeing him almost everywhere, in the hallways, in the secluded cafe at the college that barely anyone goes to, and even the library. of course he noticed this, he has been purposely sitting beside you, striking a conversation with you every now and then when you're studying.
"yn! you really like this cafe huh?" yeonjun laughed, sliding in the seat beside you.
"yea, no one really comes here so it gives me a better environment to study in." i nod my head, removing a side of my airpods from my ear. he hummed, taking out his own study materials too. the both of you studied in silence, whether it was comfortable or awkward, it was quiet. it was killing yeonjun, the way his heart raced, how he can smell the perfume you were wearing. he is in too deep.
"are you studying art history?" you suddenly asked, disrupting yeonjun's train of thought.
"huh? oh! yes i am. why?" he made himself look like a fool infront of you.
"can you.. help me, i didn't understand the last lecture." you requested sheepishly, shifting closer to him as you pointed to the slides on your laptop.
"oh yeah sure. do you need everything or just a certain section of the lecture?" he asked, scrolling through the slides.
"everything, i'm so sorry." you apologised, feeling embarrassed for requesting something so big.
"don't apologise, that's what friends are for right?" yeonjun smiled, flipping over his notebook to the notes he took down during that lecture.
"friends..? yea, friends." you nod your head, clicking your pen. your heart raced, the same fluttery feeling you felt when he first introduced himself to you.
⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ why you lookin' at me like i'm boyfriend, boyfriend.
it has been a regular occurrence now, visiting the cafe together to study together despite your different courses. yeonjun feels as if he has gotten closer to you, he feels like he understands you better now. he knows your favourite colour, your favourite type of flowers and your favourite food. such basic things to know about another person, yet it meant so much to him.
yeonjun doesn't know if he's delusional, or reading too much into things. the way you looked at him, the way your fingers accidentally brush against his while you're studying, or the way you talk to him. he doesn't know what to feel.
some people (yeji) told him that you're interested in him, absolutely smitten. he doesn't believe it. no way you'd like him, right? that drunken kiss you gave him the first time you saw him, was just on accident.. right? drunk words or actions mean sober thoughts.. right? he's confused.
do you feel the same unusual feelings?? do you feel the way just like he does? or are you just friendly? then why are you looking at him like he's your boyfriend. it's infuriating. everytime you talk to him, it goes in and out of his head instantly, he's not listening to you. your words turn into sweet melodies for him to listen to. he wants you so fucking bad.
⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ we would be something more than just friends i'll be honest
yeonjun's phone started ringing, he was in the midst of wrapping up with his dance practice. he grabbed his phone looking at the caller id, it was you. in an instant he picked up.
"yn..?" he mumbled, not wanting to distract the rest who were in the same practice room as him. he slowly packed up his stuff, waiting for you to answer.
"can you come?" your words were slurred, you're drinking again.
"where? the bar or your apartment?" yeonjun sighed, slinging his bag over his shoulder as he made his way out of the practice room after waving goodbye to his friends.
"apartment.." you replied, feeling slightly dizzy.
yeonjun sighed, murmuring a quick, 'see you' before ending the call. he practically teleported to your apartment, knocking on the door, waiting for you to answer.
"yn, open up. i bought some food for you." yeonjun knocked again, trying to make his presence known. soon enough, you opened the door. you looked sluggish and reeked of alcohol.
"how much did you drink..? why did you even drink?" yeonjun looked at you, slightly concerned as he walked into your apartment, locking the front door behind him.
"my grades came out.. real bad.. got a B." you explained. yeonjun frowned, knowing that you were an overachiever and you wouldn't settle for anything lesser than an A.
"it's fine, this isn't your final grade, there's always room for improvement." yeonjun comforted, rubbing your back as he guided you back into your room, placing the food in the kitchen on the way. you sat on the edge of your bed, looking at yeonjun placing his stuff down on the ground. he made eye contact with you.
⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ i can't make a life without you
"i remember." you mumbled.
"what?" yeonjun's heart started racing.
"the first time i met you, i kissed you.. i remember it." you paused for a while, before continuing. " 'm sorry for suddenly doing that to you. if you feel uncomfortable, we can stop being friends."
yeonjun's eyes widened as he heard your words, he walked towards you, his hand placed on your head.
"what nonsense are you saying, if i was uncomfortable i wouldn't have introduced myself to you in the first place." yeonjun reassured, looking into your glistening eyes. you kept quiet, still feeling guilty for coming onto him that night.
"stop feeling guilty about yourself yn." yeonjun rubbed your hands.
⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ be there for you, treat you right.
"i like you"
"huh?"
"i like you yeonjun, i didn't know i liked you until you introduced yourself to me. i've always remembered that night, i just didn't want to tell you.. scared that you'd hate me." you stated, rubbing your teary eyes. yeonjun couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"you're drunk yn, are you sure you like me?" yeonjun blatantly asked, it was the first thought in his mind.
"i am! i'm drunk but i know how i feel for you. i've always felt like this but i'm scared of rejection. that's another reason why i drank and called you, i felt more bold. if not, we would always be dancing around the more than friends less than lovers. i hated that! i was so confused–" you rambled, your tears flowing out of your eyes, your heart was hammering against your chest. you were so scared of rejection. yet, why was he suddenly pulling you close? his lips met yours, his hands placed on the small of your back.
you melted into the kiss, kissing him back. it was so electrifying, yeonjun's ears were red as he pulled away, looking straight into your eyes.
"does.. does that answer your question?" yeonjun mumbled, staring at your face, his eyes darting back to your swollen lips.
"mhm.." you hiccuped, wiping away your tears.
"i've always thought that you actually forgot about that incident, i just decided to play it cool, maybe figure out a way for you to like me back. that's why i found out the cafe you always went to from yeji, purposely going there to bump into you." yeonjun explained, using his thumb to wipe your tears before he continued,
⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ i ain't like the other guys
"can i be your boyfriend? i'll treat you right, better than any of your past relationships. i'll always be there for you, i won't make you feel confused anymore, my heart beats only for you yn." yeonjun smiled, his words were genuine and sincere. you nod your head, feeling completely estatic.
"good, now let's get you sobered up, i don't want you to have a headache in the morning." yeonjun chuckled, holding onto your hands as he dragged you into the kitchen to eat the food he left on the counter that was now cold.
"you want me to heat it up for you?" he asked. you shook your head, sitting on the chair, struggling to unwrap the bag. yeonjun immediately noticed and placed the cup of water beside you, he grabbed a chair and unwrapped the plastic bag and removed the lid of the food container.
"thank you.." you mumbled, shoving food into your mouth. yeonjun hummed, watching you slowly eat your food in contentment.
⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ what you like, know it like i know you.
it has been months since you confessed to yeonjun, he has been treating you as if you're glass, always afraid to hurt you, always there to tend to your needs. god you loved him so much just as much as he loved you. finally you could stare at him ramble about anything without him getting suspicious on whether you liked him or not.
⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ why you looking at me like i'm your boyfriend, boyfriend.

Rejoice, children, for I have decided that an unhinged rant is in order
I have come to the conclusion that, despite what much of the fandom would like to think, Legolas is, in fact, not a prince. My reasoning to back this up is based on two main pillars: the Woodland Realm’s monarchy system and Legolas’ lack of royal title throughout the books.
In regards to the Woodland Realm/Eryn Galen/Eryn Lasgalen: it was founded when Oropher and Thranduil arrived at the Greenwood with a handful of people and integrated into Silvan society, with the Silvan later making Oropher their king. Now, I can’t find the exact passage that describes Oropher becoming king. It’s not in the Unfinished tales of the Appendix B of The Return of the King; it might be in The Peoples of Middle Earth, but I can’t find a pdf of it to save my life. However, the Tolkien Gateway describes his ascension as him being “taken up by the Elves of the wood as their king” and “taken by the Silvan Elves as their lord” in the pages for Oropher and Mirkwood, respectively. The Thranduil page also uses very similar phrasing.
The implication here is that the Silvan chose Oropher as king, rather than he declaring himself as such, which led me to think that this could very well be taken as Oropher being elected king; and therefore the Woodland Realm would have an elective monarchy. In regards to Thranduil being king after Oropher, I’d chalk it up to a mere coincidence. After Oropher’s death at Dagorlad, Thranduil led Greenwood’s armies for almost the full 7 years of the Last Alliance, so it’d only make sense if he were the one elected as the next king.
In an elective system, only the person who’s elected holds the title that they’ve been elected for, so there is no Royal Family, or titles adjacent to that of king. In the case of Oropher becoming king, only he would hold a royal title, which means Thranduil would be the son of the king, but not a prince. Later, that same pattern would repeat itself when Thranduil is elected king. Legolas is the king’s son, but that doesn’t grant him any titles or authority.
In fact, Legolas’ lack of titles is something that stands out quite a bit in the books. Despite him being introduced as the son of Thranduil, he’s never once called a prince, and his parentage is never acknowledged by any other character. Even when Aragorn introduces him in Rohan, he does so by calling him “Legolas of the Woodland Realm”, once again ignoring who his father is, and foregoing any weight or influence of name dropping the Elvenking. Sure, it can be argued that in this instance, Aragorn wasn’t sure of where Rohan stands in regards to the war, so revealing Legolas is the child of someone important might be risky, as well as that he emphasised the Woodland Realm to differentiate Legolas from the elves of Lothlórien, whom the people of Rohan distrust; still, it’s quite interesting.
“But what about the queen?” No queen. “Oh, but Thranduil had a child, so he must have had a wife!” Why? Because you believe in the myth of the nuclear family? Can a single man with not a drop of mental health not raise a child alone as though it’s his emotional support crusty white dog? He even followed the guidelines: adopt, don’t shop. “Oh, but the movies!” The Hobbit movies have dealt irreparable damage to Thranduil’s character and nothing they said matters to me. I was in this fandom before they came out, I remember the glory days of Thranduil’s tag on Tumblr and AO3 and, yes, I’m bitter.
Anyway, even if Thranduil were married to whatever “heart of gold, died tragically” OC the fandom has lined up, she wasn’t voted in, so no royal title for her.
But yeah, Legolas isn’t a prince, he’s just some guy who happens to have a very powerful dad and no authority of his own.
#legolas#thranduil#oropher#this has been living in my rent head free for at least a month#legolas the nepobaby#(he's adopted if you didn't catch my drift)

Kazuha x F! Reader
Warnings: Angst and death mentions
Word Count: 985
A/n: ANGST TIME 😈
───♡─────────────
As Kazuha sat by the window, watching the raindrops cascade down the glass, her thoughts wandered to Y/n. She could feel their pain etched in every word, every strained attempt to shield her from the depth of their sorrow.
Y/n, curled up in their own world of grief, seemed both near and so far away. The distance between them was more profound than mere physical space. It was an emotional chasm that Kazuha felt helpless to bridge.
She saw the struggle in their eyes, the silent tears that fell when they thought no one was watching. Every night, Y/n would try to conceal their anguish, to spare her from the weight of their pain. But Kazuha sensed it all too keenly, like a symphony of sorrow playing in the quiet moments between their words.
It tore at her heart to witness Y/n crumbling under the weight of loss, yearning for someone she could never replace. Despite her love and unwavering support, she knew she couldn't fill the void left by the one they mourned so deeply.
In the dimly lit room, Kazuha felt a sense of powerlessness. She longed to erase the agony etched on Y/n's face, to absorb their sorrow and offer solace. But some wounds couldn't be healed by mere presence or affection. Some grief demanded solitude, time, and the slow, arduous process of healing.
So, she sat by, a silent guardian, offering comfort in her quietude, understanding in her patient gaze. She couldn't take away Y/n's pain, but she could hold space for their sorrow, offering an anchor in the storm of emotions.
In those moments, Kazuha realized that love wasn't always about fixing or mending. Sometimes, it was about standing steadfast in the face of someone's agony, allowing them to hurt, to grieve, and to heal at their own pace.
And so, she vowed to be there, a constant presence in Y/n's life, ready to offer support when they were ready to reach out, understanding that healing took time, and that her love was an unwavering beacon in their darkest moments.
In a moment of vulnerability, Y/n had poured her emotions into a letter, a heartfelt confession meant for eyes other than Kazuha's. It was an inadvertent discovery—an unsealed envelope, its contents a testament to a love that lingered in Y/n's heart for someone no longer present.
Kazuha, stumbling upon the letter by chance, felt a pang of guilt wash over her as she realized the depth of Y/n's enduring feelings. The words within carried the weight of unspoken sentiments, a testament to a love that had not faded despite the passing of time.
My Love,
It’s been 156 days since you departed from this world, and every single day feels like an eternity without you. Kazuha has been a pillar of support, trying so hard to fill the void you left behind. But oh, my heart aches in ways I can't even describe, for she's unable to replace the unique presence you've always had in my life.
I can feel her heart breaking alongside mine as I unintentionally distance myself from her. It's tearing us both apart, and the pain is unbearable. I love Kazuha dearly, please know that, but the chasm you've left is vast, and no one else can quite fill it. She's aware of how much I still long for you, how I find myself drowning in tears every night since the cruel moment I learned you were no longer here with us.
I attempt to conceal my anguish, to shield Kazuha from the full extent of my grief. I can't bear to burden her further, although I know she understands more than she lets on. Her patience and understanding are boundless, but I'm aware I'm asking for more than anyone should endure. She won't admit how much it hurts her to witness my pain, but I see it in the corners of her eyes, in the way she tries to be strong for me.
I yearn for your comforting presence, to hear your voice tell me that one favorite story you promised to share endlessly. I ache to feel your embrace, to have you by my side once more, but the cruel truth remains—you're gone, far beyond my reach.
I cling to the hope of seeing you again in my dreams, if only to catch a fleeting glimpse of your familiar face. I know, in time, I'll have to come to terms with your absence, to accept the harsh reality that you're no longer here. But please know, beyond any doubt, that I love you dearly, that I miss you beyond words, and I'm trying so desperately to find the strength to carry on.
Until we meet again, please watch over me.
With all my love,
Y/n
Reading Y/n's intimate thoughts meant for another shattered Kazuha's heart into even smaller fragments. She understood the complexity of grief, the struggle to let go when the heart held on so tightly. Y/n's unwavering affection for the person in the letter was a poignant reminder of the lingering pain woven into their journey of healing.
As much as Kazuha wished to erase the ache Y/n felt, she knew she couldn't erase the remnants of a love that had once bloomed so fervently. It was a delicate balance between wanting to offer comfort and respecting the depth of Y/n's emotions, even if it meant she couldn't fully fill the void left by the person in the letter.
The revelation stung, yet Kazuha made a conscious effort to conceal her own heartbreak, understanding that Y/n's healing required tenderness and space. She carried the weight of this newfound knowledge in her heart, a silent witness to Y/n's ongoing struggle between holding on and letting go, all while offering her steadfast support in their shared present.

AU concept: King Callum
The assassination was successful for whatever reason and both Harrow and Ezran have died. That leaves Callum as the next rightful heir. How does Callum grapple with his enormous loss and also the new weight of the crown placed on his shoulders that he was in no way expecting nor prepared for? How does Viren feel about this and what might he try and do? What’s Rayla up to (is she okay?)? Claudia? etc.
- food for thought. >:)
King or regent Callum is something I usually don't engage too much in bc it feels a lil bit too much like displacing Ezran (and he's our one dark skinned character of colour in the main cast - also i Love him too much that thinking of him being dead-dead hurts my heart) however:
It would depend on where the divergence happened. Has he already met Rayla and they've found the egg, and Ezran dies to Runaan on the battlements? (In which case I don't think much would change, i.e. Callum would still leave to bring the egg home but now it's particularly heavy because it's what Ez wanted - and he and Rayla would develop a much more like, jaded but still ride or die kind of bond? Basically S4-ish Callum but with extra layers of grief and probably more anger toward her initially because it's gotta go somewhere, and then guilt because he does like her and there are moments of happiness, etc etc)
But in a world where Ez never found the egg, two alternatives:
1) Ez dies and Callum assumes the throne as the surviving heir. Not discovering the egg means he has no reason to not trust Viren. Callum refuses to have a regent outright (the throne is all he has left of his family and he desperately wants to feel in control) but it doesn't keep Viren from whispering in his ear or from growing closer to Claudia, even as the two mages are more aware than ever that if Callum ever discovers they kept the Dragon Prince alive, he'll have their heads. Thus, Callum walks a razor's edge of being furious with Xadia, probably too cautious to launch anything full scale but maybe being willing to seriously encroach on the border and send in minimal troops, just to test things out, and become a brutal strategist child king.
He never entirely loses his good heart, of course - but he's far less trusting (ironically saving him from falling to Viren's influence entirely) and far less willing to listen to said heart (again, like S4 redux but with zero support system). I think Opeli would look after him, but he'd resent that too in a way, feeling like she's treating him like a child (which he is) but very much feels like he is not, after what he's been through
Assuming Rayla is here, I think it could go a similar route as @zuppizup's excellent fic "purgatory" of her being unknowingly imprisoned before being discovered, somehow, or escaping loosely on her own. It would certainly be a stilted alliance to begin with and a lot of lingering hurt / anger on both sides, but I do think eventually they'd come to work together in an odd sort of "almost no one else is as fucked up as we are" partnership that becomes more jovial and benevolent over time
2) Ez survives but being young and reeling from grief, Callum becomes regent in an effort to shield him. This leaves Callum with one strong pillar and still the possibility of the egg being discovered (as Ez is still familiar with the tunnels) even if past the point it was found in show. This means the role of king is probably split roughly 60% (Callum) - 40% (Ezran) between the brothers and they become their own team, even if Callum may be even more over protective with no way to ensure that people wouldn't come back for Ez. Hence why he insists on being king-regent in his brother's stead, probably, and Ez is tired and unsure enough to let him (without thinking through the full consequences, maybe). This could lead to a rift as they get older as Ezran wants to acquire more power but Callum continues to be over protective. This also means Viren has significantly less influence and is constantly tempered by Ez and Callum's influence on each other, leading to more frustration and perhaps more back handed attempts to get rid of the brothers. Perhaps an imprisoned Rayla (or an older Rayla who missed out on the first mission, and has been sent to finish the job years later as repayment) could enter the story as a surprising protector? And having to put up with Callum's sharp tongue after years of learning how to handle things diplomatically, perhaps being more back handed himself in terms of getting information, etc.
Either scenario would bring Callum's snake boi tendencies out in full though, I think 👀
There's a lot of ways it could go and these are just my first thoughts, but I hope you enjoyed 'em! I always love a good canon divergence

sky — my birth experience
hello, everyone! i'll be sharing my journey of becoming a mum and welcoming my little bundle of joy, sky, into this world. let's take a trip down memory lane as i recount the beautiful birth experience and the roller coaster of emotions that followed.
the early signs of labor
it all began at 5:30 am last tuesday when i felt what i thought were typical third-trimester contractions. as the contractions continued and intensified every 20 minutes, i had a strong hunch that labor had begun. it was both exciting and nerve-wracking, knowing that the moment we've been waiting for was finally here. i remember trying to time the contractions and feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety as the realization hit me that my baby's arrival was imminent.
the rush to the clinic
by 1 pm, the contractions were getting more intense and closer together. it was time to head to the clinic. i was filled with a whirlwind of emotions - anticipation, nervousness, and overwhelming love for the little life growing inside me. upon arrival, the medical team quickly assessed me, and to my surprise, i was already 8 cm dilated! admitted immediately, my heart swelled with anticipation and a mix of emotions. the reality that i was about to meet my baby for the first time sank in, and i couldn't wait to hold him in my arms.
the intense labor and sky's arrival
for the next 3 hours, i experienced labor pains like i had never felt before. it was undoubtedly one of the most challenging and painful experiences of my life. the contractions came in waves, and in between each one, i gathered my strength and resolve, thinking of the beautiful little life that was about to grace this world. with every push, i knew i was getting closer to meeting my precious little one. and finally, at 3:32 pm, the world welcomed sky, and i wept tears of joy as his first cry filled the room. how can a cry sound that magical? in that moment, my heart felt full beyond measure.
the first week and its challenge
the first week of motherhood was both rewarding and challenging. recovering from childbirth was tough, and i'm forever grateful to my partner and mommy for being my pillars of support during this time. my body was healing, and i had to take it slow, which wasn't easy for someone as active as i used to be. but their constant care gave me the strength to focus on taking care of myself and baby sky. each day brought new challenges and learning experiences, but seeing sky's bright eyes and feeling his tiny fingers wrapped around mine made it all worth it.
breastfeeding
as a first-time mom, i embarked on the journey of exclusive breastfeeding. kid you not, it was SO painful. no one really prepared me for how intense it could be. but i knew it was crucial for sky's health and bonding. every latch was a mix of pain and joy, as i felt the responsibility of nourishing my little one with my own body. each feeding session was an emotional roller coaster, but knowing that i was providing him with the best possible nutrition kept me going. every day presented a new set of challenges, from sore nipples to latching issues, but seeing my little one thriving made it all worthwhile.
embracing motherhood
i realized how self-doubt and postpartum depression could creep in at any moment. the responsibility of caring for this tiny human was both awe-inspiring and daunting. at times, i would find myself crying in the middle of the night, questioning if i was doing everything right for sky. was i meeting all his needs? was he happy and comfortable? the weight of these thoughts would occasionally feel overwhelming. but thanks to micoh, my partner, who has been a constant source of strength and support, i know i'm not alone in this journey. he's been there to reassure me, share the parenting responsibilities, and remind me that i'm doing a great job as a mom.
despite the challenges, every day brings a sense of contentment and fulfillment. watching sky grow and thrive fills my heart with immense joy. the sleepless nights and moments of self-doubt pale in comparison to the happiness he brings into my life. i can't help but express my gratitude to the lord for blessing me with this incredible gift of motherhood. every milestone, every giggle, and even every tear have become cherished memories that i'll hold close to my heart forever. welcome, sky, to a world filled with love and warmth.

wc: 1.2k ++
note: another post for zuzu my beloved <33 I sort of just realised I haven't written for him in super long soo here's something that kinda just kabonked into my mind and I finished writing this on the same day I start hohoho. as always I hope you guys enjoy,, feel free to tell me if i needa add anything and likes and rbs are greatly appreciated <3
It hits you like a train.
You were just out with your friends when you started to feel that way. It took everything in you to maintain that smiley facade, the genuine happiness having been drained out of you hours ago.
You didn't want to bring down the mood, not when everyone was this happy. How could you spoil the mood just because you weren't feeling it?
So you waited. You waited till the outing was over. Waving a cheery goodbye before turning back to go towards the subway station, the opposite direction of where your friends were heading to.
You quickly put on your earbuds, cranking up the music to drown out the surrounding noises. Every sound, every voice. Everything was just too much to handle right now.
The train ride felt like the longest one you've been on. The walk home? Overbearing. Seeing everyone chattering away and the booming music from the clubs that were just starting to open for business just made you feel even worse than before.
And by the time you got home? You were about to break down in tears. You wanted to laze on your bed and sleep till the next day. You wanted to take a scalding hot shower and rid yourself of whatever pain you were feeling. You wanted a piping hot home cooked meal, maybe a steaming bowl of soup or a hot plate full of fried rice.
To your surprise however, you were greeted by kazuha sitting on the couch, the tv currently playing some random show.
You hadn't expected him to be over at your apartment tonight since he said he had an upcoming project and was going to stay cooped up in his own house to finish up the final touches.
"Oh, hey y/n. How was your day... y/n love?"
You think that that was your final straw. Because next thing you knew, you were dragging your feet towards him, your body moving on its own plopping itself down onto the sofa then kazuha before you broke down in his embrace.
He could only describe it as heart retching. the most painful of sobs and whimpers he's heard in a long time. As a matter of fact, kazuha doesn't even think he's heard crying this gut wrenching.
He dared not ask what was going on at that point in time. Just letting you cry on his shoulder, wrapping his sturdy arms around you in a somewhat awkward manner because of the position you guys were in. No words were exchanged as you continued to cry to your heart's content while kazuha stayed silent, acting as pillar of strength, supporting you.
When you were done crying, did kazuha finally ask what was going on.
You told him everything. How your day was going absolutely fine and you having so much fun hanging out with your friends until that one moment. Nothing awful or bad in particular happened in that moment while you were with your friends. They didn't say anything triggering, and yet, you suddenly couldn't talk. Feeling a heavy weight on your chest followed by your stomach and heart dropping.
It just hurts zuzu you complained. You didn't understand what happened but it hurt and you didn't know what to do.
"Would you like some advice, my love?" Kazuha asked softly, like he was afraid to scare you away.
You nodded, making yourself more comfortable in his arms before he started to talk.
"I think you simply just burnt out. you've been studying so much for all your exams up till recently when you finished. And now that all the stress is suddenly gone you're finally feeling the effect of it." Kazuha spoke. His voice soothing you as you lean your head on his shoulder.
"Would you like to take a shower together? We can go to bed straight after." He suggested, to which you nodded.
It's not like you hadn't showered together before. You've both seen each other in your best and worst forms, holding each other tightly as you let the warm water cascade down your bodies. No words were spoken during this time. Not because you two were awkward no no. You guys just didn't need words to communicate, the unspoken words passing through the both of you with ease.
This time was no different. A peaceful silence hung in the air as kazuha lathered your hair with soap before moving on to wash you back, you doing the same for him before you guys stepped out to dry yourselves off.
"Do you want some hot milk? I think it'll help you sleep easier." He asks gently, coming up from behind you after putting on some clothes.
You nod again. Holding onto his hand as you pad to the kitchen with him holding your hand. you take a seat on the chair while he went around the corner, taking milk, honey and two mugs along with him. He mixed them together, popping the mugs into the microwave before handing you the steaming warm mug of heaven.
Again the comfortable silence ensued. The television was turned on and playing some news while the both of you just enjoyed the presence of each other as you guys sipped on the warm milk.
It was nice, getting to spend time with him in a setting where there wasn't any pressure. Knowing that you'd never need to put up a facade in front him. Knowing that you can be yourself whenever you're with him alone. It brought some peace to your mind knowing that you could always rely on him in times like this.
"Thank you zuzu." You said sleepily, moving yourself so that you were perched on his lap, hugging him as you did so.
"There's nothing you need to thank me for love. I'm just doing what a boyfriend should do." He hugged you back, wrapping his arms around your torso and letting them slide to your back, pressing you against his chest.
Comfy. You thought. It felt so warm and fuzzy being held by him. You felt grounded. You felt so much better than before. You felt like whatever you were feeling hours ago never happened. Your mind finally at ease as your body followed suit, slowly but surely drifting off to sleep, cradled by your beloved boyfriend.
Once kazuha was positive you had fallen asleep, he gingerly wrapped your legs around his torso before lifting you up off the sofa. Slowly, he made his way to your bedroom where your bed was, laying you down before he got on and wrapped himself around you.
He kissed your forehead affectionately before murmuring a set of words you didn't catch "I'm so proud of you, love, I love you. More than you'll ever know." Before he kissed your nose, pulling the blanket securely over the both of you before he too, fell asleep, cradling you in his arms as he did so.

crashing down
Summary: When a heist goes horribly wrong, Jesper and Y/N are trapped underneath the rubble.
`A/N: looks like i’m writing for my murder children now. I have zero regrets
Jesper Fahey x platonic!reader
In hindsight, they probably shouldn’t have hung around to steal the brooch. And they probably shouldn’t have even decided to rob the place in the first instance but, hey, when someone brags about the treasures they own and tell you exactly where in their tiny, second house they were hidden, they were practically asking you to steal them.
And besides, Jesper loved a good old fashioned shoot out too much to simply run away from one. And Y/N loved her friend too much to leave him to fight on his own.
Jesper ducked behind the pillar as another bullet whizzed past his head, imbedding itself in the wall behind Y/N.
“I’m blaming you entirely, Jesper,” Y/N muttered, handing him a load pistol in exchange for his empty one. “It was your idea.”
“You’re the one who spotted the damn thing,” Jesper replied, leaning around the pillar and firing three shots, all hitting their targets. “You’re like a bloody magpie.”
“Just because I went ‘ooo, shiny item,’ doesn’t mean you have to steal it!” Y/N hissed. “Now, because of you, Kaz is probably wondering where we are and will likely murder both of us for ruining the plan.”
Something exploded from outside, the orange flames lighting up the corridor as they billowed into the sky. The men attacking them all yelled as they realised that Y/N and Jesper weren’t alone in the building. More footsteps echoed on the stairs in front of them as the rest of the guards ran outside to see what was happening.
Jesper and Y/N shared a look. “Wylan.”
“Well, good to know that part of the plan is going to... well, plan,” Y/N replied. She looked down at the pouch of bullets she had and swore. It was empty. “Jesper,” Y/N said, hitting his leg to attract his attention, “Jesper, we’re out.”
“Ah.”
“Yes, ah.” Y/N threw the pouch and looked at him. “What do we do? There’s no way we’re getting out of here with them blocking the door.”
As if proving her point, the guards began shooting again. The hail of bullets pinged around them and Y/N dove into Jesper, both of them ducking down and shielding the other. The bullets stopped for a second and Jesper moved quickly, grabbing his pistols and putting them back in their holster and yanking Y/N to her feet, pulling her around the corner and towards the back of the building.
Y/N gripped Jesper’s hand tightly as they ran down the corridor and into a side room full of crates. Jesper slammed the door shut behind them and shoved a crate up against it to block anyone trying to break in.
There was a small window high up on the wall with metal bars running across it, far too small for either one of them to be able to squeeze through.
“What plan is this? Run and hide?” Y/N exclaimed as Jesper began ripping open crates.
“Yes but hiding in the room that, hopefully, has bullets,” He muttered, tossing the paper that was protecting the contents out the crate dramatically. “HA!”
Y/N turned around and saw Jesper brandishing an open box of bullets with a huge grin on his face. She felt herself smiling too, despite the life threatening situation they were currently in.
Jesper gently handed one of his treasured pistols to Y/N, his eyes staring at her intently. She gently took the handle of it and looked up at Jesper, looking into his eyes.
“I know,” she said, nodding as she moved the pistol to her other hand and grabbed his hand, squeezing it. “I know.”
It was likely the next few minutes would be their last. They were outnumbered and on their own with limited gunfire. Even if by some saintforsaken chance Inej or Nina or even Matthias turned up to rescue them, they’d probably both be riddled with bullet holes before they got to them.
“No mourners,” Jesper said softly as he let go of Y/N’s hand and spun his pistol around his finger.
“No funerals,” she replied, gripping the handle of her pistol tightly.
Jesper pushed the crate blocking the door out of the way and swung open the door, pistol drawn.
No one was waiting for them.
Y/N matched Jesper’s frown and slowly stepped out into the corridor behind him suspicious. There was a good quiet and then there was a bad quiet.
And this was a bad quiet.
“Where -”
Y/N’s question was cut off as a large explosion rocked the entire building. She reached out and grabbed Jesper’s arm as she lost her balance and Jesper steadied her as best he could. Dust and chunks of plaster rained down around them and several paintings and expensive vases smashed onto the floor.
“That wasn’t Wylan!” Y/N exclaimed as the building stopped shaking for a moment.
“Come on!” Jesper yelled, grabbing Y/N’s hand and pulling her down the corridor towards their exit.
Something was wrong, the entire building was empty and there was no one around. Jesper and Y/N skidded around the corner and spied the door that was their exit and put on a sudden burst of speed.
The door suddenly blew in, a cloud of dust following after it. The explosion threw Jesper and Y/N back into a wall. Y/N felt her head smack the wall and suddenly everything felt odd.
She opened her eyes and saw Jesper yelling at her but couldn’t hear him. Her eyes were ringing and everything felt distorted - like she’d had too many Kerch whiskeys. Jesper pulled her to her feet and she stumbled into him, her legs wobbling and shaking and unable to support her weight. Before either one of them could hobble out the door, another explosion occurred and the entire building began to crumble down around them.
Windows smashed, beams came crashing down and pipes burst as the building collapsed in on itself.
Y/N vaguely registered Jesper wrap his arms around her and pull her down to the ground as the building buried them alive.
Kaz checked his pocket watch again. “They’re late.”
“Yes, but Jesper’s always late,” Nina replied, trying to hide her nerves. She’d been frantically looking to the street near the house every second, waiting and hoping for Y/N’s figure to come running up to them, a flustered and excited Jesper chasing after her.
“Not when he’s with Y/N,” Inej muttered, looking behind her at the building they’d escaped from.
Kaz looked down at his watch and then up at the house again. He wasn’t about to betray just how nervous and concerned he was. But it wasn’t usual for Y/N to be running late - even if Jesper did his usual thing of causing complete and utter chaos.
Wylan was sitting on the edge of a wall, fidgeting with a dummy bomb, his leg bouncing up and down nervously.
“They’ll be fine,” Nina said, looking at Matthias. “They’ll be fine.”
As she uttered the words, an almighty explosion rocked the alleyway they had convened in. Smoke billowed up from the building Jesper and Y/N were inside as bricks, beams and glass all crashed down on top of another in a messy symphony. The walls collapsed down like a house of cards and a nearby flock of pigeons flapped away from the chaos.
The five remaining Crows stared in silence.
Kaz felt as if he might keel over. He stared at the pile of rubble, gripping his cane tightly, the beak of the crow’s head digging into his hand through his gloves. Jesper. Y/N. Both of them were under the rubble that had once been a merchant’s second home. Someone had blown them up.
Somehow, Matthias snapped into action first, grabbing Nina’s arm and pulling her with him, towards the pile of rubble. Wylan scrambled after them, determined to find his friends.
“Kaz, come on,” Inej said softly, hovering beside him. “We need to go look for them.”
Kaz nodded once, a muscle in his jaw jumping as he clenched it, swallowing his emotions down. He limped after the rest of his gang, his cane clicking loudly on the cobblestones, breaking the eerie, deathly silence that had descended upon the street.
Matthias and Wylan had begun removing beams and chunks of brick from the pile, trying to find a way to get inside. Kaz wanted to help, but couldn’t bring himself to be so close to anyone, so he resorted to stay out the way, watching out for any of the Stadwatch.
Nina was trying her best to locate Jesper and Y/N but the pile of rubble was muffling any sound of their heartbeats. Well, that’s what she was telling herself. She didn’t want to even think about the other reality.
Jesper groaned loudly as he suddenly awoke. His head was pounding and he was being crushed by something heavy and wide. He blinked and the world came into view again and he realised what had happened.
A large, wooden beam was lying across his chest and he was sprawled awkwardly across piles of bricks. He could move, however. The rubble had formed a small pocket around them, the beams that had supported the roof supporting a ton of rubble above them.
Jesper carefully slid out from underneath the beam, trying not to nudge it or move it incase he took the entire thing out and crushed himself to death. He somehow slid down the rubble and further into the pocket and let out a heavy exhale as he caught his breath.
He looked around and froze as he spotted the familiar sight of Y/N’s hair and jacket from underneath what was once a door.
“Y/N!” Jesper exclaimed, clambering over bricks, keeping his head down and folding in on himself as he squeezed through a gap to get to her. “Y/N?”
Y/N lay scarily still, blood trickling down the side of her head, a splintered, heavy oak door lying across her bottom half. Her arm was flung across the bricks and her skin was littered with cuts.
Jesper shoved the door off her with a grunt, his eyes running up and down her body to see if anything was broken. He couldn’t tell if she was breathing or not. He crawled closer and grabbed her hand, wrapping his fingers around her wrist and waiting.
For a moment, a long, painful moment, he felt nothing. His heart dropped and he genuinely felt as if he might be sick. She couldn’t be dead. She wasn’t allowed to die. She couldn’t die.
But then he felt a slight beat, followed by another and then another. It was slow, slower than it should be, but it was still going which meant Y/N was still alive.
Jesper forced himself to pause and breathe. They were trapped under a pile of rubble which could collapse at any moment. Y/N was unconscious and potentially dying which meant Jesper had to find a way out to safety and to the rest of the Crows. He glanced down at Y/N again, his fingers were still wrapped around her wrist, the feeling of her slow, sluggish pulse helping calm him down. She was still alive.
Dust rained down on Jesper as he nudged a pile of bricks, seeking out the gap in the rubble that was letting the light in. There was a single ray of light shining through from somewhere - it was orange like the street lamps that dotted the streets of Ketterdam and its mere colour filled Jesper with a bizarre sense of hope.
If the light could get in, then they could get out.
He began by carefully moving bricks, stopping each time to make sure the beams keeping the worst of the rubble above them weren’t about to collapse. The broken glass cut into his hands and every movement sent sharp, searing pain through his head.
But he kept going.
Jesper took a risk and moved a large piece of a door. Above him the beams groaned and buckled and a shower of dust rained down as bricks and rubble fell down. Jesper dove across Y/N, shielding her from the falling debris.
Bricks and stones fell down but the beams stayed up, supporting the majority of the rubble and keeping their little pocket safe.
Jesper lifted himself of Y/N and grabbed her wrist, checking her pulse again and making sure her chest was still rising and falling. He reached out a hand and gently brushed off the dust and tiny pieces of debris on her face and sighed.
“Well, at least we’re both still alive,” Jesper muttered, trying to think of something positive. It’s what Y/N would do, she was always positive even if the situation was anything but positive. It drove Kaz insane.
“You could sound a little happier about that, Jes.”
Jesper jumped as Y/N’s voice, croaky and barely more than a whisper, broke his internal monologue of doom. She was looking up at him with the faintest hint of a smile on her pale, dust streaked face.
“Thank the Saints,” Jesper muttered, dropping his head on to the top of Y/N’s head, his shoulders slumping. “I thought you were...”
Jesper trailed off, not wanting to finish his sentence. Y/N, who seemed capable of reading the minds of everyone, even Kaz, grabbed his hand and squeezed it weakly.
“I feel like shit but I’m alive, Jesper,” Y/N said quietly, coughing slightly. “Now, how do we get out of here?”
Jesper looked around again, hoping the new found relief he felt at Y/N having woken up would clear his head. All he could see were wooden beams, pipes, bricks and smashed glass and no exit.
“We’re stuck, then,” Y/N said softly, noticing her friends silence. She winced as she shifted on the floor, trying to move so that she could lean against the large piece of wall behind her. Jesper noticed and came back to her side, grabbing her hand and guiding her up until she felt the wall against her back.
“You good?” Jesper asked, his eyes full of concern, his hands clinging on to Y/N.
She nodded, her eyes shut as she felt the overwhelming wave of pain. She opened her eyes again and looked up. “If the street light is getting in,” she began turning her head with a grunt, “then there has to be a way out.”
“That’s what I thought but I can’t find a way to shift anything without risking bringing the entire building down on us.”
Y/N exhaled softly, slowly turning her head to look at the other end of the pocket they were in. They were well and truly trapped.
“I’m sorry.”
Y/N frowned and turned back to face Jesper. “Why?”
“If we hadn’t gone back for that brooch and if I hadn’t -”
“Jesper.”
“ - been so determined to show off and -”
“Jesper.”
“ - we would have been at the rendezvous point in time and we wouldn’t -”
Y/N frowned as she heard the rubble shift above them. She tried to focus on the noise and her frown deepened as she realised that there were voices above them.
“Jesper, shut up a minute,” Y/N snapped, hitting him on the arm to cut off his rambling. “Listen.”
Jesper’s hurt expression at being told to be quiet quickly changed into a defensive one as he heard the rubble shifting and the indistinct sound of voices. He picked up his pistols from the ground and slowly clicked the safety off.
“Good or bad?” Y/N asked, wincing as she shifted herself onto her knees and moved behind Jesper.
“Either,” Jesper replied, his face hardening as the voices got closer. He aimed one pistol at the gap in the rubble where the sound was coming from, his other hand moving to rest on Y/N’s arm, reminding himself that she wasn’t dead, but alive.
Neither one spoke as they watched the rubble intently, bracing themselves for whoever appeared.
A head appeared in the gap and the person elegantly slid into their pocket, feet landing so silently that it could only be one person.
“Oh, Saints, Inej,” Jesper muttered, holstering his pistols and instantly relaxing.
Y/N felt her energy and resolve disappear at the reassuring sight of Inej, all the pain and exhaustion she was feeling return. She fell to the side, barely catching herself before she smacked her head on the floor.
“Saints, Y/N,” Inej said, climbing over to her as Jesper sat Y/N up against a broken piece of concrete.
“I’m good,” she said softly, wincing.
“And I’m a sun summoner,” Jesper replied sarcastically, disbelief written on his face at how much Y/N was playing off her injuries.
“Can you move?” Inej asked. “It’s not far to go until you’re outside.”
Y/N nodded. “Yeah.”
She pushed herself up to her knees, gripping a wooden beam for support. The wooden beam held her weight for a moment before it collapsed to the side.
“Shit,” Jesper muttered as the entire building above them groaned loudly.
“Go,” Inej exclaimed, guiding Y/N up and inside the gap and then shoving Jesper after her as the building came crashing down into what had been their pocket.
Y/N kept crawling and began to panic as the darkness began to feel claustrophobic and tight and she was scared she was going to collapse in the tunnel, her vision coming and going in waves, her heart pounding.
But then someone grabbed her hand and gently pulled her out the rubble and into the open, catching her as her limbs decided to stop working, sending her crashing to the ground
“Hey, hey, you’re alright,” Matthias said, holding her up against him as she clung to his jacket, her entire body shaking.
“Thank Saints,” Y/N whispered, dropping her head onto Matthias shoulder, ignoring the way he stiffened at the sudden, unexpected close contact. He’d never admit it but he had a soft spot for the girl and, after a moment of surprise, gently wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“Y/N!” Nina exclaimed, rushing over to her as Inej and Jesper emerged from within the tunnel. “Jesper, are you two alright?”
“Well, we’re alive,” Y/N replied, smiling tiredly. “Much to Jesper’s disappointment.”
“I’m not disappointed that we’re alive,” Jesper retorted.
“You sounded disappointed,” Y/N countered back. “We survive being crushed to death by an entire building and he’s disappointed.”
“Again, I wasn’t disappointed,” Jesper grumbled.
Wylan looked between Jesper and Y/N. “Are they concussed?” He asked, genuine concern for them clear on his face.
“No. Unfortunately, that’s normal Y/N and Jesper behaviour,” Kaz replied, his cane clicking on the cobbles as he walked up to them. He looked Jesper up and down and then Y/N, his eyes running over them both.
“We’re fine, boss,” Jesper replied, sensing Kaz’s unspoken question.
“Good,” Kaz said, nodding. “Come on, we need to move we’re behind schedule.”
And with that he limped off down the street.
Y/N let out a scoff of laughter. She was still holding onto Matthias as Nina grabbed her hand softly and began healing her. “Jesper’s the reason we’re behind.”
Jesper gasped loudly, hand flying to his chest as his mouth opened in mock horror. “How dare you! I found that brooch for you!”
“Just because I see something sparkly and go ‘ooo’ doesn’t mean you have to pick it up!” Y/N exclaimed. “You’re not a magpie!”
“The gratitude I get, I swear,” Jesper muttered, stomping off purposefully after Kaz.
Y/N closed her eyes for a moment and sighed softly, Nina’s magic working its way through her system. They were a band of misfits and criminals, the dregs of society, but to her they were family.

I have a request
Levi's wife y/n and 4 or 5 year old son get kidnapped by kenny and the military police. They get taken to the crystal cave with eren and historia. So when levi comes to save them he is livid and is quickly taking down every mp in his way. Luckily both y/n and her son make it out safely with levi and his squad.
Levi, y/n, and their son have a soft moment and they all hug and give kisses 😚😚😚 and day squad teases them
(I added my own little spin to this where Y/N is playfully argumentative and sometimes wild with Levi. Hope that's ok! I also thought it would be cute if Levi and Y/N’s son was named after Levi’s late friend Farlen.)
"We have more than just Historia and Eren now." Levi grunted, facing Hange. "My son and Y/N were taken as well."
"We can't wait then. We'll leave as soon as possible."
Levi squeezed the paper Hange had given him earlier in his grasp as his squad whooped and hollered behind him. Kenny probably wouldn't kill them, they were insurance after all. Which was that much worse for Levi.
He already knew if he didn't manage to calm himself before they got to Kenny he would lash out recklessly. The one thing he'd told his wife and son to never allow themselves to do.
~~~~
"Oi." Levi stepped closer, concern etched onto his face. His eyebrows scrunched where he looked into his wife's eyes. "If you continue moping around our child's health will be at risk and yours. The doctor already told you that."
She turned, eyes narrowed and lips tight where they were pulled into a frown. "What else am I supposed to feel? The father of my baby is running around dodging death. Am I supposed to be happy Levi?"
Levi rolled his eyes, his hand already coming up to the bridge of his nose in expectation for the upcoming brawl of sorts. "I'll be alive for the birth of our son."
"Will you though?" She stepped closer, challenge rising in her tone and eyes.
"I'm not leaving you or the soon to be kid we've made. And you already know that." He fought back. "I'd sooner go back to the underground."
Her hands ran up to his collar tugging him closer. And he let her, let every bit of fury trapped beneath those stone cold eyes run over his spine like a flash of lightning all with the same neutral expression.
"I'm so serious you wouldn't even believe. If you don't come back one of these days and I have to raise this baby all on my own. I'm gonna bring you back to life just so I can kill you again. Do you hear me Levi Ackerman?"
Levi let out a little huff and a small smirk ran over his lips. She let him go and he straightened out his collar. "You get scarier everyday." He remarked "Way scarier than any damn titan."
He grabbed her wrist, pulling her down the mostly empty corridor. "You saw the doctor again today right? Tell me what happened."
"We've got a healthy Ackerman on our hands. He's grown bigger than he's supposed to be at this stage actually." She smiled softly as she placed a hand on her belly. "Probably cause he has your blood."
"Tch, moron. He's already his mother. Constantly kicking every time I touch your belly. He's gonna be a brat just like you."
"I hope he gets my height and not yours."
"For his sake your height instead of your mouth would be good."
"My mouth has gotten you through many long nights so I wouldn't complain if I were you."
Levi playfully rolled his eyes as Y/N's soft laugh filled the corridor. Her eyes shining brighter than they had her whole pregnancy. It was weird Levi had always heard about new parents being scared but he barely was.
When he'd found out he'd been more surprised than anything but he'd barely even had the time to over analyze the situation until that night. This unbelievably wild girl was the mother of his child. What more could he want.
Fear did dawn on him. Knowing he'd have something new in this world that needed his protection. Something so precious and small to protect. But another part of him knew that kid would be safer if he got his mother's fighting spirit.
"Hey, you better not be thinking about other girls." Y/N huffed as she poked at Levi's forehead.
Levi grabbed her finger. "Dumbass, no one else would be able to handle you if I left."
"Just sounds like you're making excuses so that you don't have to tell me, you adore me and could never find anyone else who brings you this much joy."
"No." That barely even scratched the surface..
~~~~
"Do you have a location on them?" Hange asked
"There're a whole bunch of military police and Kenny's squad is surrounding the entire area. But no sign of Kenny himself or any of the people who were taken." Sasha replied
Levi huffed, brain not wanting to retreat to the worst possible scenario. Besides the conversation currently developing in front of him there was a sort of quiet drifting in the atmosphere.
"We have a plan right?" Armin suddenly asked
And Hange nodded, "You're gonna need these." Her hands clasped around the cool metal of the signal flares.
"Signal flares??" Jean stared in disbelief
"Don't worry, we're getting out of here alive hostages and all." Hange stated before turning to Levi. "They're ok."
Levi blinked, slowly but surely uncurling his fists. He looked around to the others their faces a mix of concern and in certain cases glee. But they all had the same sentiment.
"Put the plan into motion." Levi stood
~~~~
It went surprisingly quickly. From the barrels they'd deployed to the signal flares being shot off. Sasha and Mikasa taking out the military police like no one's business but Levi could already feel his Ackerman rage growing.
Where the hell was Kenny? He thought.
His question was soon answered when a bullet flew past his cheek immediately drawing blood. The next bullet striking an ice pillar with a hard crack as he ducked for cover behind it.
Levi paused repositioning himself to jump and land behind one another of the thick pillars searching for the source of the bullets. "Where the hell are they?" He grunted voice raspy, thick and loud where he called to the only person that would be behind this.
Kenny's laugh was boisterous, heavy where it bounced between each pillar. The amount of sweat that had collected on Levi's palms had his weapon slippery in his grip and the vein in his forehead was close to popping.
"I think you have other things here you should be concerning yourself with."
In the blink of an eye Levi's head shot backwards, Jean's scream mixed with the heart shattering sound of Hange hitting one of the pillars caught his attention. A bullet releasing her blood as she slipped and rolled over against the ground like a discarded toy.
"Tch!"
"Levi! Oi you should be worried about me. After all. Your little family dies by my call!"
If Levi was boiling before his blood was erupting now. With incredible skill and speed he bounced his way around the pillars dodging each bullet as Kenny shot them out. His agility raised as he flipped over Kenny's form and behind him. In an instant Levi was tossing a bag full of flammable liquid in time to meet his next shot.
When the bag tore open Levi flew forward, through burning flames created by Kenny's gun tossing his blade. The motion caught Kenny off guard but he managed to dodge it, his hat flying off into a nearby pillar along with Levi's blade to hold it up there.
Levi's heart was hammering taking the advantage he'd managed to get he flew at Kenny with incredible speed slicing through his torso almost like it was butter. In the heat of adrenaline Levi watched as Kenny's body fell to the ground of the cool cavern.
He landed with a hard breath before retracting the odm gears hooks. He couldn't wait any longer. He couldn't stop himself from running forward no matter how stupid and dangerous it was.
He heard bits and pieces of speech behind him. "Follow Captain!" And "Wait, hold on!" But none of it stopped his feet.
He skidded in his pace as he heard soft calls of, "Dad! Dad!"
And he was immediately headed for it. A bit of relief flooding his chest as he heard the faint sounds of odm gear clanging behind him. His squad clearly keeping good pace.
When he arrived he instantly locked eyes with his five year old son and wife.
"Dad!" Farlen's voice echoed. He didn't look injured from what Levi could tell and neither did Y/N. Farlen's hair tosseled as if he'd merely been running outside.
"Where are Historia and Eren?!" Mikasa called as she ran up behind Levi.
"Guys!" Historia's voice boomed. She slunk forward barely supporting Eren's weight. His shirt gone and his face covered in blood.
Levi quickly ran to untie Y/N and Farlen immediately embracing Farlen when he jumped into his arms. If he were any other kid Levi would probably be questioning why he hadn't shit his pants and why his face was tearless. But he definitely wasn't any other five year old.
"Geez, you guys took forever." Y/N remarked, stretching her hands above her head. "I was about to wreck all these Military brats butts for you." She said with a smirk at Levi.
Levi huffed, rubbing his son's back. "Next time you can save yourself then." He remarked giving Farlen a soft head rub.
"Ugggh Mom.. Dad not now.." he sighed
"There won't be a next time!" Y/N fought back. "I'll never get caught up like that again."
"Tch, whatever."
"Are you challenging me Mr. Ackerman?"
"You're a brat, Ms. Ackerman."
"How about I show you how much of a brat I can really be?" She chuckled with a dark smile etching over her features. She pulled him closer, hugging his and Farlen's form with a firm hand on Levi's lower back.
"Don't start something you can't finish." Levi whispered back.
"Ewwwwww.." Farlen mock gagged between them.
Y/N just laughed loudly. "You'll understand when you have someone you love to hate, Farlen."
"Yeah.. I'm with Farlen. That's eww." Connie remarked with a shake of his head.
The others soon joined in with their own little laughs and teasing words. "I can't believe how soft Captain can be." And "They're such a cute family I hope I get that some day."
Levi repositioned Farlen on one arm ignoring all the chatter. Though his cheeks bloomed a rosy color that was extremely unmistakable "Historia, where's your father?"
"He escaped before you guys got here. He's headed toward the wall." She replied
"We've gotta hurry then."
(I'm so sick of people on the internet rn I swear🙄)
He’s Not Here
More masquerade content but what’s this at the end???
In the grand castle ballroom, surrounded by soft golden light and the countless nobles clad in shimmering fabric, King Arthur was so bored he could cry.
This wasn’t what this night should have been; it was a masquerade party, an opportunity to hide away his identity and mingle among the people 一 okay, the nobility, but he would take what he could get 一 like he was a person instead of a king. Finally he had a chance to dance around until his legs ached, to eat food without worrying about the repercussions to his image should he dare speak with his mouth full or use the wrong spoon, to hold conversations that weren’t about politics or finances or how he was doing the best-or-worst job looking after an entire kingdom with a myriad of people with different needs and opinions.
So how was it that, out of everyone in that room, he was stuck listening to some dull-voiced stag drone on and on about the rising price of grain?
“This is why pricing is tricky, you have to account for the pests before you ship it out and…”
Arthur fought the urge to dash away, but the instant he tried, he knew he would give himself away. His speed was renowned throughout the land, alongside his golden armor and brilliant blue spines. Those, at least, he had taken care of; Merlina had spent the better part of an hour adjusting his coloring to a warm orange and growing out his spines to disguise him beyond the limits of a simple mask. She had tried so hard to give him a chance to have a night off without people instantly worrying for his favor or trying to get something from him… only for him to be trapped all over again.
Arthur would have happily made an excuse to leave, if the stag would only let him get a single word in. His conversation “partner” seemed not to need to breathe, droning on and on in an endless monotone, offset by the cheerful music and bright lights and flashy costumes.
I’ll never be free of this.
“And now that the price is rising, it leaves me in a strange spot, you see. On the one hand, I sympathize with the people who cannot afford my wares, but on the other hand, it means more profit for myself and my own family.”
Chaos above, Arthur wished he hadn’t bumped into this man. His fingers tapped restlessly against his leg, mildly quelling the urge he had to just flee, to drop everything and everyone he had ever known and flee into the night and into the unknown.
“Not to mention, the cost of labor--”
“Mind if I cut in?”
Arthur’s head snapped over to the new voice, endlessly relieved at the interruption, though the stag continued to drone on, the odious voice still grating his ears even as the king faced the bold newcomer.
It was a tiger clad in elegant black clothing with silver accents, extending a hand out to him, and even though Arthur was eager to take it and be whisked away from this living nightmare, something about him made him take pause. His eyes took in the white fur streaked with blue, the slowly flicking tail that reminded him of Sir Percival 一 was it common among all cats? 一 and the eyes looking gently back at him.
He trusted those eyes. It was the look that they held, a look that reminded him of…
Arthur mentally slapped himself. He’s not here, he reminded himself as he finally took the hand offered to him.
“Yes, please.”
The tiger seemed to brighten just a fraction at his approval, and he led him away from the trappings of boring conversation to the dancefloor, and Arthur had to try hard not to think about how this felt like being rescued by a knight. Especially not…
He’s not here.
The king was jostled from his thoughts as his new partner started to fit him into a hold, and a brand new anxiety washed down upon him as he tried to remember how to reciprocate the hold. Dancing lessons had never been high on the list of priorities when it came to running a kingdom, and yet somehow Arthur was expected to be able to social dance like a pro when his days were filled from dawn to dusk with meetings and drafting decrees and submitting notices of approval until he passed out on his bed. Arthur swallowed, trying to remind himself that stumbling during a dance was still preferable to listening to that one-sided conversation…
...but his partner didn’t dance like a professional. Well… he did, there was no denying his grace and timing, but he didn’t dance like he expected Arthur to be one as well. The steps were simple, the turns basic, and Arthur’s mind swam in relief as he realized that, somehow, this stranger was leading him through steps that he had managed to pick up on through trial and error.
This chance encounter was proving to be everything he needed.
The stranger led him carefully around the floor, maneuvering slowly around other people rather than weaving expertly between them like so many other couples did. If Arthur closed his eyes, he could easily pretend that he was practicing his basic steps with his brother, or his friends, or his--
He’s not here.
And yet…
Yet it was so easy to picture it, even as the peals of laughter surrounded him and washed into his subconsciousness like a spark of delight for him to enjoy. The strong hold, the careful footwork, the calculated rhythm…
Lancelot…
Arthur’s eyes opened, and though he saw stripes they were the wrong ones, and the bittersweet feeling of missing someone dear to him almost caused him to heave a sigh.
He had it bad, and he knew it. His greatest knight and closest ally and dear friend… Sir Lancelot was beyond compare. From questing as youths to his coronation, and in every disaster thereafter, Lancelot had been there, his pillar of strength in a tumultuous world, always standing nearby to passionately defend him or to spare him a quiet gesture of support. Lancelot had protected him from danger, defended his honor, strived to keep his spirits up for years and years…
Arthur had never considered himself one for romance, but as years went by, Lancelot had claimed more and more of his thoughts, attention and affection until the knight unknowingly held the king’s heart firmly in his hands. Too many times to count had Arthur been struck by the urge to grasp his hands, to sing out the words in his heart to him, to draw him close and see if he could make such a powerful knight’s knees buckle below him with a kiss alone…
One song changed into the next, and Arthur, too swept up in his fantasy, didn’t let go of the stranger, didn’t notice the slight lull in their dance, and so the dream kept going.
Lancelot wasn’t there, but Arthur could lean into this stranger’s hold on him, follow his dance, focus on his attire, concentrate on the energy he exuded, energy that reminded him so strongly of his Lancelot, and Arthur’s mind could so easily turn his dream into something more substantial. An illusion for him to drown in, just like this masquerade offered.
The music kept swelling, the sweet notes tickling his ears and driving him even deeper into his dream like he was in a trance. He kept dancing with the man that reminded him so much of his beloved that a second dance turned into a third, and Arthur clung on to his dream, not even registering that it might seem strange until--
“I mean no offense, but surely there are others who would want to dance with you?”
Arthur blinked, and the dream shattered as the man in his arms shifted back into a stranger. The king’s feet stilled, his gaze dropping to his feet. Arthur had to fight back waves of embarrassment and disgust at himself before he could answer.
“Forgive me, but the way you dance…”
HE’S NOT HERE!
“...it reminds me of someone dear to me.”
“O-Oh.”
His companion seemed at a loss, and Arthur held back another sigh, counting the beats in his head before pulling him along for the next dance, leading him in a very basic, repetitive step around the floor.
“I apologize,” Arthur murmured, knowing that there wasn’t much he could do to salvage the situation. At this point, he could only offer his apologies and an explanation. “I know it’s not fair on you, to imagine you are someone else, but…”
A look of hurt passed over his dance partner’s face, and goodness, even that reminded him painfully of Lancelot.
“...but you remind me so much of him.”
Arthur’s eyes swept over his partner, taking in the paradoxical way that he looked completely unfamiliar and yet he still somehow managed to feel so much like his dear knight. Perhaps the dream hadn’t fled from him quite yet, because now Arthur’s yearning mind was searching for any and every chance to convince himself that this was, somehow, Lancelot whom he was dancing with.
“You dance like he does,” Arthur thought aloud, as his partner remained silent. “Careful and precise.”
Your movements… I know them like I know my own.
“Pardon my asking,” the stranger returned, “but why do you not dance with him tonight?”
Like a weight to his soul that would never truly leave, Arthur’s melancholy came back to embrace him. “Ah… he isn’t here.”
He’s not here he’s not here he’s not here--
“Or at least…”
Arthur looked into the stranger’s eyes, his desperation to go back to his dream nearly choking him with emotion as the tiger’s eyes widened at the sudden look directed at him.
“...I haven’t recognized him, yet.”
Arthur knew it was terrible to put such a fantasy on a stranger at a party, but he wanted so badly to believe that this man was Lancelot. Arthur wanted to believe the ludicrous ideas his mind was supplying him with, that somehow this was Lancelot in front of him, disguised beyond all normal means. The tiger in front of him appeared to fluster, his mouth parting as though wishing to speak, though no words came forth.
“You have stripes like he does, too,” Arthur murmured softly, thoughtfully, and yes, he truly was reaching for every last detail in his pathetic attempt to turn what he had in front of him into what he wanted to see.
“If it pleases you,” the tiger finally said as the third song changed into a fourth one, “I… am not opposed to you pretending that I am he.”
Arthur smiled at that, feeling suddenly hesitant at the idea, now that the stranger, as kind and helpful as he had been, had given him his consent to mentally transform him into someone else, to be a player in this dream of his. It was sad, and unfair, but Arthur knew sadness and injustice. He tried to battle it every day, slowly changing and updating laws as they became outdated, but everything went so slowly and people only kept crying out in pain and Arthur wanted just one day, just one, to take ahold of something that he wanted and to cherish it.
“Thank you,” Arthur whispered as he stepped further into the stranger’s hold, feeling warmth overtake him as he confessed his truth. “I have loved him for a great long time and… perhaps this is the closest I shall get to what I dream of.”
Because that was all this would ever be: a dream.
He’s not here.
Arthur’s eyes closed as his head dipped down to rest on the tiger’s shoulder, a soft smile spreading over his muzzle as he noticed that he was of a similar height to Lancelot, and the dream came back in full swing. Arthur’s arms wrapped around his partner, blocking out any consideration to the lack of spines on his back, and the king focused on his heartbeat as it hammered in and out of sync with the other’s.
“I understand the sentiment,” his partner whispered in response, and Arthur had to hold back what was either a laugh or a sob, morphing it into a hum on its way out.
You speak like him, too.
And so the king held his partner as tightly and tenderly as he would a lover, humming along to the song as the masquerade around him faded into nothing. There was nothing, nothing in his dream, but himself and his Lancelot as they spun around slowly.
He’s here. He’s here, I can feel it.
Arthur’s dream permeated his mind, overtaking his consciousness, and as the fourth song faded into oblivion, he finally let out the sigh he had been carrying all night.
“Lancelot…”
Two pairs of feet stilled as both parties realized what had just been said, and one final word jolted the king from his dream.
“A… Arthur?”
He was here all along.
hello! can you write scenario for akashi, aomine, kise, and kagami where their s/o is jealous of all the attention they're getting from other girls?
awwww. adorbs! certainly ^_^ 🖤
Jealous S/O
Akashi
It’s not a surprise that he was popular.
Akashi was smart, handsome, rich. Great at academics, and sports, and the youngest student council president in the history of Rakuzan. You didn’t believe in people being perfect, but if ever someone was going to get close it would be Akashi. He really lived up to the ‘Emperor’ nickname.
And what was an Emperor without his court.
“What’s wrong [Y/N]?” You look up from the pavement as you walked to class to see Akashi staring at you. His gaze focused, but soft & concerned. “You seem distracted.”
“Oh…it’s nothing.” You tuck your hair behind your ear. Prepared to let this go. Of course, Akashi wouldn’t let it though. He continued to stare at you until you finally broke down and told him. “It’s just them.”
The red head turned to look where you had jutted your chin towards the girls, huddled behind one of the pillars in the court yard whispering & staring, and your boyfriend let out a sigh. “Ah yes. Them.” He doesn’t seem surprised by their presence. Nor their borderline stalking. You should have guessed that he knew they were there. “I just choose to ignore them. However, if they are making you uncomfortable, I can order them to stop.”
You shook your head. You didn’t want to cause trouble. And although it was annoying, you didn’t want to break another girl’s heart over their rejected feelings. “It’s not a big deal. It’s the burden of dating the ‘Emperor’ I guess.” His lips scrunch. Though the nickname stuck over time, you know he doesn’t actually care for that title. “I just feel a little bit like one of those women in a historical K-drama. You know, like someone is waiting in the wings to knock me off so they can take my place near the emperor.” Sometimes you kind of feel like I should start checking my lunch for poison or glass.
Akashi scoffed a little. Then leaned in to kiss your cheek. “That’s never going to happen.” He assured you. “My heart belongs to only you. And, if anyone were to hurt you, I’d gouge their eyes out.”
Perhaps it’s poor form to giggle at such a threat, but you do. He really was so protective of you. You really had no reason to be jealous, because no one was going to take Akashi away from you.
You continue on your way to class. The ‘court’ suspiciously hanging back more than usual after that day.
Aomine
The street ball court was a buzz as usual whenever Aomine played.
His ‘quick game’ with the challenges on the court had turned into a full basketball brawl that had lasted for hours. One-on-one after one after another.
Not that you minded. Watching Aomine play, and seeing him happy, was always thrilling. He always looked so cool when he played; giving his all, even against weaker players. You chuckle to yourself. He really was a terrible guy to take such joy in crushing people. But then what did that say about you when you were so turned on by it?
“That dark skin guy is so hot! Do you think he’s foreign?”
You turn away from the court to a gaggle of girls, some your age, some older, watching the game as well from the side lines. Some had noticed the game and come to watch. Others had come with their own boyfriends. You frown a little as they continue to whisper and gush over your boyfriend. Getting moodier by the second.
“Yo, what’s up?” You look up from glaring at the lines on the court; just in time to see Aomine place his ball he was holding in one hand against your head. “You look pissed. Are you not having fun?”
“Not really.” You confess, batting his hand away. You weren’t having fun now. He was talking to you, but those girls still couldn’t take their eyes off them. “Can we go now?”
“What?? But things are just getting started.” He lifted his shirt up as he whined to wipe the sweat from his brow and you could practically hear the siren like squeals from those thirsty ass bitches.
“I don’t like the crowd here.”
Aomine seemed to catch on, and looked to the side to see who was annoying you. You have to assume he expected to see some guy making you uncomfortable, based on his expression, but looked surprised when he saw it was just a bunch of girls; totally playing it off like they weren’t staring at him a moment ago. “What can I say babe? I can’t help it if girls think I’m super hot and junk.” His cockiness and smirk were not attractive at the moment.
You continue to pout, but just long enough for Aomine to lean in and give you a peck on said pout. “Let me kick this guys ass and then we can go. ‘Less you wanna stick around and make ‘em jealous back. We can do gross couple stuff until they get weirded out and leave.”
You chuckle again at the offer. Appreciating the gesture he was trying to make. “Go play your game and then we can go. If we’re going to do ‘gross couple stuff’, I’d rather do it in private where we can enjoy it.”
Aomine gave you a big grin, followed by a loud, “yes ma’m!”
Of course, he slaughtered the guy in the next game. Leaving him to sulk off back to his own girlfriend; who was indeed in the pack and not looking too happy about it. You both leave after that to finish your date. Aomine proud as a peacock for the rest of the afternoon from the ego boost.
Kise
It was hard, dating a model.
You knew of Kise’s profession before you started dating, of course, but you had no idea how hard it would be on your relationship.
Girls stopped him every chance they got to ask for his autograph, or gush over his new photobook. He of course was courteous and polite. Turning on that model charm. He always thanked them for their patronage of his work and they promised to always support him. It had been bad before, but ever since his game was televised this past season, it had grown into a circus. Not only was he the beautiful blonde-haired boy they all admired, but now he was also the super-hot jock they all drooled over. You could barely go out on a proper date anymore without being accosted by some female vying for his attention.
“[Y/N]-cchi, what’s wrong? You look upset.”
“This is ridiculous!” You told him, and you weren’t just talking about his huge sunglasses & stupid hat he was wearing to try and be ‘incognito’. It wasn’t working even a little bit, so now it was just doubly stupid. “Why can’t they leave you alone for 10 minutes?!”
“They’re my fans [Y/N]-cchi. I can’t disappoint them!”
“Right. Don’t disappoint them. Why don’t you hang out with them today then?” You mutter sullenly. Prepared to leave.
Kise seemed to realize what was going on, and just how upset you were, as he reached out to grab you hand. “I don’t want to hang out with them [Y/N].” You turn back around when he said your name like a real person. Not the cute little way he did it as part of his act. “I don’t want anyone else but you. They only like me because I’m handsome and a model.” Humble too, you think to yourself. “They don’t really care about me. You do! I don’t want to lose that. Please forgive me.”
He did genuinely look hurt, and you have to believe that he meant it. You sigh. It wasn’t totally Kise’s fault. “It’s alright Ryouta.” You tell him. He seemed to perk up a little at that. “If you could maybe not lay it on so thick for them in the future, I would appreciate it.”
“Of course [Y/N]-cchi!” He cheered with a beaming smile. Already back to his normal self. “I’d do anything for you!”
It doesn’t stop of course. But Kise kept true to his word and politely asked to be left in peace. Most respected that. Some weren’t as understanding of his needs. You just appreciated that he was trying to keep them at bay. Fangirls were weird.
Kagami
After practice, you and Kagami went to Maji Burger, as per usual. And, as per usual, people were staring at your table.
Most of the time they were staring at the loud, tall teen scarfing down his body weight in hamburgers. Amazed at his own personal eating contest. However, more recently, the people staring were girls from your school who had also come here. And they were staring at Kagami only.
He was completely oblivious to it, but Kagami was actually really popular; even before Serin started wining so much. He was tall, athletic, built. He’d come from America, which was so cool for a lot of the students around here. Plus, he had this whole ‘bad boy basketball star’ vibe going. If they only knew how much of a sweet heart he really was. Actually, scratch that. If they knew that would only make it worse.
“Hey, what’s up [Y/N]? You’re not eating. Do you not like your food?”
You look up from your own, normal portion on the tray, then back down as you play with your food. “It’s just hard to eat when people are staring.”
Kagami blinked. Then looked around to see what you were talking about. “I don’t see anybody.”
“Of course you don’t….” You mutter under your breath. He never did.
“What does it matter?” He asked. “It’s not like I can stop people from looking at me. They have eyeballs. It’s a free country.”
“That’s not the point Kagami. It’s not that they’re looking at you. It’s the fact that they’re looking at you.” You’re trying to be discrete here, but subtle or discretion never really got through to Kagami. “They wanna fuck you.”
Kagami choked on his burger halfway devoured in his mouth. “Don’t say that!” He scolded you. Once he’d recovered from his near-death experience.
“Well, it’s true. Maybe that’s a bit much, but they definitely look at you that way, and it’s annoying.”
“How can you even tell?”
“Because it’s how I look at you.” You muttered under our breath again. Fidgeting with our soda straw to avoid eye contact.
Kagami heard you again though and now you were both blushing in the booth. “Well…the only one I’m interested in looking at me that way is you.” He muttered back. “The only one I’m interested in looking at that way is you.” His leg moved forward under the table to touch yours. Simple, secret, intimate.
You smile softly as you realize it was stupid to be jealous. Kagami had no guile. He was honest to a fault, which was another of his amazing qualities. He genuinely didn’t see those other girls because he was only focused on you. So let them stare. There was no way they were going to take him away from you.
The child is very young.
The child is so young, in fact, that it is difficult to distinguish color from sound, warmth from texture, voice from heartbeat. The world is a distorted thing, it expands and narrows - is at once small and so very large. The child cannot track night and day, dark and light, moon and sun - indeed, can hardly focus its eyes to tell. But the child can well remember.
There are things from before that used to take up all the space in this child’s world which now have ceased to be. A deep, gentle voice which once rumbled through the child’s body in a calming wave - large, warm hands against its face. Gold like sunlight. A speck of red. Dark, adoring eyes.
The child remembers another voice, soft and happy like the birdsong from the gardens, the chiming of the bell gripped in its tiny fist. The smell of flowers in bloom. The warmth of spring. The child had known then, deep in its bones - its being - that this was Mother. The child knows now, in its tiny fledgling heart, that Mother is gone.
The world shifts and spins, and the child drifts in its tide - a new voice every time it wakes, a new hand, a new face. The child aches for what it has lost. It does not understand why its world has changed so quickly and so completely. The sounds are all wrong, the shapes all blending together. The child wails for large warm hands, screams for what was Mother.
And then, relief.
The world slows. Large warm hands hold the child close. A low voice hums from beneath, and the smell of spring once again fills the child's nose, with a touch of rain. The rain tastes bitter, like salt.
It is not perfect. It is not what was lost. But it is close. A soft voice lulls the child to sleep. Large warm hands hold the child close and never let go.
~.~
The child's name is A-Ling, and A-Ling is three.
The colors of Lotus Pier’s vibrant summer blur around him as he runs, painted under a blanket of sunlight, bright and blinding in his dark eyes. It is A-Ling’s second summer in the birthplace of Mother, but it is the earliest one he will remember in the distant years to come.
His little feet ring hollow across the pale warm wood of the bridges and walkways which piece Lotus Pier together, bouncing off the rippling water below and echoing across a river in bloom. He does not know where he is going, only that anywhere he goes he will be okay - because Jiu-Jiu lives here, and wherever Jiu-Jiu is, A-Ling is always safe.
As the summer sun glints across the water, shifting and flashing amongst the lotuses, A-Ling slows to a stop and turns his face away, gazing instead to the very end of the pier. There, beneath the shelter of a pale wood pavilion stands a familiar shadow, spine straight and shoulders tense, staring out across the river as the lavender silk drapes twist and brush against his robes in the breeze. The pavilion is far removed from the rest of Lotus Pier, quiet and isolated - the perfect place to sit and watch the lotuses bloom.
A-Ling has been here many times himself, to sit and play alone in the shade when the duties of the day take up the attention of his caregivers and the child is left to himself. They scold him for wandering so far, when they find him. He keeps going back.
A-Ling has never seen his Jiu-Jiu here before.
Heart overflowing with excitement, A-Ling thinks perhaps his Jiu-Jiu has come to play with him, and scampers across the wood with a wide grin. He does not stop until he has collided with the solid pillar of his uncle’s leg, wrapping his little arms around it and pressing his face into layers of violet silk.
But A-Ling’s Jiu-Jiu does not move. Confused, he lifts his head, gripping violet robes tightly in his fists. His Jiu-Jiu stares out across the river, unmoving, and even as young as he is, A-Ling has long learned to recognize the weight in his expression, as if the world was pressing down on him - unheard and unseen, but so very heavy.
‘Jiu-Jiu is raining,’ he thinks. After a moment, he feels gentle hands on his head, running through his hair. Long into the afternoon, A-Ling will hug his uncle tight, and never let go.
~.~
The child’s name is Jin Ling, and Jin Ling is twelve.
The forest is calm in the hushing dusk, but the quiet is a tense creature, deadly still. Three feet away lies his father’s sword, two feet away is the creature which had nearly killed him, and gripping his arm hard enough to bruise is his uncle.
Jiang Cheng stands as still as a statue, his eyes narrowed into deadly focus. There’s a wild look to him - in the way his hair frames his face, in the pinch of his brow - something almost desperate. Jin Ling dips his head, shame coiling in his gut. The gash on his leg from the creature’s claws stings, but he ignores it.
He swallows thickly. “Uncle,” he begins, “I’m so-“
“Stupid boy,” Jiang Cheng hisses, jerking his arm once, twice. “Don’t you realize what could have - ”
“Sorry,” Jin Ling says again, staring at the ground.
Slowly, the fingers digging into his arm loosen, become nearly soft. Then they pull, urging him up. “Come on, then,” Jiang Cheng says, gruff and unpleasant, but not unkind. “Let’s get a healer to look at that.”
As Jin Ling stands unsteadily, his uncle’s arm winds around him in support, strong and immovable as a stubborn old tree, it’s roots anchored deep. Jin Ling clutches back, leans against his shoulder just enough to notice their slight tremble, and lets himself relax into his hold. He never lets go.
~.~
The child’s name is Jin-Zongzhu, and at just sixteen, the title weighs upon his shoulders alongside heavy ornate robes much too large for his small frame to fill.
The world has tossed and heaved once more, pulled out from under him in one sharp tug he hadn’t been able to foresee. All at once, he’d lost an uncle he thought had loved him, had gained an uncle who loved him all along, and had an entire sect in turmoil thrust into his inexperienced hands.
Amongst it all, the uncle he’s always known drifts, as if lost. It is humbling, Jin Ling thinks, to know he’s not the only one who’s entire world has been thrown off center in past weeks. Sandu Shengshou, always the piller, always so tall and proud and unstoppable, could not stand fast against the tide of truth.
His uncle stands before him now, having watched as he was ceremoniously given the title which chains him down, gray eyes deep and unreadable. Jin Ling thinks he’s never seen his severe face look so raw, so full of emotion. Not since they had stood and watched as Wei Wuxian walked away, disappearing into the world as suddenly as he had entered it.
Jin Ling stands up straighter - wants to be strong, steady, something his uncle can be proud of. With a deep, steadying breath, he bows, as perfect as he can manage in all the heavy finery of his robes. “Jiang-Zongzhu - ”
He breaks off with a sharp gasp as he is roughly pulled into a bone crushing hug. Suddenly, he is not Jin Ling, nor is he Jin-Zongzhu. Suddenly, he is -
“A-Ling,” his uncle says quietly into his hair, gripping the back of his neck to hold him in place. A long moment passes wherein Jin Ling can hardly bring himself to breathe in fear of ruining the moment, can hardly blink for fear that it will have been in his head all along. He cannot remember the last time his uncle hugged him.
“Your mother would be proud,” his uncle says, and just like that, Jin Ling’s careful diligence melts away.
With a half-choked sob, he throws his arms around his uncle, gripping the back of his robes as tightly as he can and burying his face into a violet shoulder. “Jiu-Jiu,” he gasps, and finds he is unable to say anything else.
The child is young and fragile, but strong arms hold him tight.
The child is three and naive, but the man he clings to will always be there for him.
The child is twelve and careless, and the hands who hold him up will always protect him.
The child is sixteen, is a man, is just three again, and his uncle will be there - has been there - for all of it, always.
“I’m proud of you.” Just four words, whispered into his hair, and Jin Ling’s world stops spinning, slowly rights itself again.
“I know,” he says, and breathes.
Soon, this will end. Soon, his uncle will leave, and Jin Ling will be left to Lanling alone. But for now… for now, he holds him tightly, holds him close, and never lets go.
missed smiles (draco malfoy x reader)
missed smiles (draco malfoy x fem!reader)
request: could you do a Draco imagine where the reader gets injured somehow (like falls down the stairs) after a fight (angst) and then he gets all protective (fluff)? tysm!
Warnings: kind hints towards depression but it’s minor. half blood prince level draco angst because I'm in one of those moods mentions of war, family pressures etc, fighting and injury.
Authors note: I skimped so hard on the fluff this is basically just angst pls forgive me.
..
The late November snow crunches aggressively underfoot as (Y/N) storms back towards the castle, Draco's footsteps echoing her own not far behind her as he calls after her. She lets out a harsh breath, not daring to look back in case her anger slips into something else and the tightness in her throat gives way to the sob she's been holding back.
"(Y/N), please." He pleads. "Let me explain."
She comes to a stop, breath shaking as it leaves her lips and forming wispy streams of condensation as it meets the cool air. She knows she needs to turn around, but she can't look at him right now, she can't look at him without seeing it again on his arm, the inky mark of the wizarding world's dark past and looming future.
It was revealed after what was a perfect date. She was so happy to see him smiling, that grin that was becoming so rare these days, she was sure it was the start of better things for this school year. Then she saw it, seeping through a wet patch on his shirt when he peeled off his coat to layer on top of her own due to the aftermath of an impromptu snowball fight. Ominous and taunting, the dark mark stared back at her.
Now, she finds herself turning slowly to face him, glad momentarily to find he's covered the incriminating tattoo, that she can't see it directly, with all its cruel implications. However, the knowledge of it has engraved itself in the centre of her thoughts, torturous and vile.
"How do you even begin to explain that, Draco?" She demands through gritted teeth. "How?"
He gulps under her harsh look despite knowing it's a quickly crumbling façade, watching her bottom lip tremble and her eyes well with reluctant tears. Words tumble out so quickly he's not even sure they make sense, a panicked onslaught of barely coherent apologies as he steps closer.
"No, Draco." She whimpers, stepping back. "No."
Her eyes clench shut and forces the escape of reluctant tears that she lifts her shaking hand to hide. The logical bit of her, the bit that tells her he doesn't want this, that knows him well enough to know his hand must have been forced in the matter, is hidden behind the bitterly betrayed part of her conscience.
"I can't do this right now." She exhales shakily.
His jaw slackens in defeat, explanations left hanging on the tip of his tongue while he watches her leave, ascending the steps to the castle. The weight of it all settles once again on his chest as it has all year, heavy on his lungs until he's forced to breathe manually under the pressure. He watches her go, convinced that's it, that his one perfect thing is gone for good.
His eyes cast downwards with shame and he's about to turn to walk away himself, to find somewhere to think everything through when he hears her yelp. He's too late in turning to help, instead staring wide-eyed and her crumbled figure at the bottom of the icy steps.
"(Y/N)!"
.
(Y/N) groans softly as she struggles to open her eyes, frown fixing itself on her face at the her unfamiliar surroundings. She doesn't register herself as being in the hospital wing until she hears the gentle tut of Madam Pomfrey from the foot of her bed.
"Miss (Y/L/N)." She greets. "Finally awake I see."
"Finally?"
Her voice is hoarse and quiet, forcing her to wonder just how long she's been out for. Madam Pomfrey gives her an understanding look and gives her a sympathetic smile. The older woman steps around her bed to (Y/N)'s side and gently pushes her into an upright position in order to manoeuvre the pillows in her aid.
"You had quite a tumble down the stairs, my dear." She informs. "Quite the concussion I'm afraid, so don't worry if it takes a moment to remember- I'm sure Mr Malfoy will be able to help once he wakes up too."
The nurse gesture with a slight smirk towards the head of blonde hair resting face down on the edge of the mattress, just by (Y/N)'s legs. The sight of him is enough to have the memories flooding back, heart aching at the memory.
"I'll be back to check on you in a few." Madam Pomfrey informs.
"Thanks." (Y/N) gulps.
Once the older woman is gone, footsteps placing her well in the distance, (Y/N) turns back to the sleeping boy by her side. He looks small here, curled by her side, so sweet it's hard to believe what he's hiding underneath his cool façade and long sleeves. She finds herself reaching a hand out tiredly for his hair, curling her fingers in it gently and watching him stir.
He wakes as groggily as she did, with the same confused frown. Then, eyes meeting hers, they widen and a sigh of sheer relief escapes his lips. He looks exhausted, with ashy grey circles hanging under his eyes, although she's sure they've been like that for months now.
"Thank goodness you're awake, (Y/N)." He exhales. "God, I was so worried."
"How long?"
"About a day." He informs. "You hit you're head really hard-"
"Not that." She corrects in a whisper. "How long have you had t-the mark?"
The light brought to his face from her recovery dies at the question, eyes dropping instantly. She almost feels bad, but she needs to know, she needs to understand this all before she can allow herself to look at him the same.
"The summer." He admits. "Just before the start of term."
She inhales loudly, sharply as she take it in. She pulls her hand back from where he'd clutched it in relief when he first woke. The betrayal bites bitterly at her heart and tugs her brows into a disbelieving frown.
"I know." He whispers.
She pinches the bridge of her nose and sighs aloud, causing him to shift guiltily. The logical part of her is back, reminding her that she knows him, knows this is not something he would do if given the option not to.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
Her words throw him off and he stares at her in disbelief. Where he expects the furrowed brows of an angry glare, he finds her expression full of concern. His confusion over her reaction manifest itself as a frown.
"I'm a- a deatheater, (Y/N)."
His voice is hushed, cautious of the fact only the thin layer of the curtain around her bed shields them from the rest of the hospital wing, from listening ears. She lets out a sigh, clenching her eyes shut and shaking her head in response.
"No you're not." She sighs, an almost desperate edge to her voice, as if she's trying to convince herself. "You're not, Draco."
"I took the mark, (Y/N)." He corrects. "I'm sorry."
"There's no way you wanted this." She argues. "This has your father written all over it. I know this isn't you-"
"How do you always do that?"
She can see him trying to keep himself together, fists clenched so tightly they shake and his eyes brimming with tears he's begging to stay put. He lets out a sharp sigh, turning away from her to hide how his mask is crumbling, how he's so quickly beginning to come undone.
"What?"
"What do you see that no one else does?"
His voice cracks. Red rimmed eyes meet (Y/N)'s, so full of raw emotion that she finds herself letting out the smallest of sniffles as her fingers reach out for his closed fists, loosening them enough to grasp his hand in hers.
"I see my boyfriend frowning more than he smiles." She begins, voice trembling. "I see him losing all motivation for his hobbies, I see him sneaking off when he thinks I'm not looking and telling me he's fine when he's not."
She squeezes his hand, begging him to understand, to understand that she's worried, she so worried for him that it hurts. She worried when his smile didn't meet his eyes on the train, and when he asked to stay curled together in his dorm room the day of the first Hogsmeade trip when they would usually go to Honeydukes together. She’s worried all year.
"I was so relieved yesterday to see you smile." She continues. "I miss your smiles so much, Draco."
He lets out an inaudible apology, fixing his tear filled eyes on their joined hands, gasping under the pressure to keep himself together. It's like she's pulled out the last thread, the one that was keeping him in one piece and as if any sudden movement will rip him apart now.
"I know you're a good person." She concludes. "I know you don't want this."
"I don't." He admits through a raspy, quiet sob. "I don't want this but I had to- I had to for my family."
"Your dad?" She asks sadly.
"Father made a mistake, but it's H-He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named who chose me, to amend my family's names in his eyes." He shakes his head. "It was the only decision that could be made."
"Draco..."
"You know what he did to Cedric Diggory." He explains. "I have to do this to keep us safe."
"You're just a kid, Draco." (Y/N) whimpers. "We're just kid and this isn't supposed to be our battle... I'm so sorry that it's ended up yours"
"Don't apologise to me." He pleads. "Don't., (Y/N)"
"Someone needs to, Draco." She argue. "This isn't fair on you."
Her voice finally cracks and tears rolls down her cheeks. She sighs in frustration when he looks up in concern. She's supposed to the pillar of support right now, hospital bed or not. The tears plough downward regardless though.
"Don't upset yourself." He begs.
"I'm angry, Draco!" She exclaims. "No at you- at this whole thing."
"(Y/N) please, you shouldn't stress yourself after the fall." He gulps. "You'll still have a concussion."
She's almost forgotten where they are, and why they're here in the first place. She lifts her free hand to the newly thumping pain in her head and grimaces. He shuffles closer, lifting a hand to tilt her head for inspection when she swats it away.
"No, I'm the patient so you have to listen to me."
She gives him a stubborn frown that has him sinking back like a scolded child to listen to her. She extends her bandaged arm out and pokes a finger against his chest sternly, his eyes widening at the serious look in her watery eyes.
"We're going to fix this." She states firmly. "We're going to fix this together and you and your family are going to be safe again."
"H-how?"
"I don't know but we will."
She drops her hand to find his once again, squeezing his fingers with a sigh. He stares at her in silence for so long she's worried he's angry, but then his lips twitch into the slightest of smiles and a breathless chuckles falls from his lips.
"Thought I was supposed to be looking after you." He explains softly.
"I only fell, Draco." She assures. "I'm fine."
"(Y/N), you have no idea how terrifying it was so see you on the ground like that." He shakes his head. "Not moving, not waking up, and all I could think was I drove you away and you hurt yourself."
"Draco..." She sighs. "I was surprised, I didn't know what to do when I saw that thing on your arm and ran when I shouldn't have."
"This isn't your fault."
"It isn't yours either."
He lets out another laugh behind a poorly disguised sob, shaking his head again in surprise, perplexed again by her reactions. Always seeing the good in him, even when everyone is convinced it's not, when he himself has lost hold of it.
"I love you." He exhales.
"I love you too." She smiles sadly. "We're going to work this out, I promise."
He lift's the linked hands to his lips and kisses her knuckles gently. He believes her, something in his heart clinging to the assurance in her voice and the hope in her eyes. She's pulled that last thread, allowed him to fall apart at the seams in order to sew him back together again, gently and patiently, starting with the first stitch.
"I'm going to see that smile again."
Ad Victoriam
Finally got off my ass and started the fic I've been wanting to do for weeks. Maybe months? I'll be doing it chapter by chapter and eventually putting it up on Ao3.
I've made it GN as I want sole to be as relatable to you or your OC as possible.
Chapter I - warnings: None.
Chapter I
Arrival of the mechanical birds
The tangerine sunset always looked gorgeous from the Castle; the sparkling glimmers skipping over the restless sea, making it appear crisp and clean – disguising the usual sickly green hue of the salted waves. But the Minutemen weren’t able to take a moment to take in the beautiful daily view they were blessed with. The usual peaceful bliss they felt in their fortress this time of day was today filled with unease, anxiety and even a little fear among the less informed.
“General. Here they come.” Preston’s familiar voice muttered from close behind his leader.
The familiar tone that seemed a lot more welcome than usual. Preston had always been a great guide to Y/N, and more-so a great friend. And as their heart fluttered at the sight of the vertibirds in the distance, heading towards the ancient garrison, his voice helped hold the glue of their stoic expression as their men and women gathered outside of the main gate to greet the guests for the evening. Preston Garvey was their pillar of strength. Always there when they needed an extra pair of shoulders to unload some weight upon. And of course, the favour was always returned.
A chilled breeze whipped around the small gathering, all eyes up towards the old Boston airport across the shimmering sea – the giant, metal, killing machines looking a lot smaller than they were in reality as they made their journey.
Five. They think to themselves, arms behind their back. They would never allow themselves to show fear in front of their soldiers. Five of them. Why would he need five?
Their trust in Elder Maxson had recently begun to dwindle, due to a few reasons. Reasons they'd went over in the confines of their room over and over again. Planning every move for as many scenarios they could possibly think of. If this were a trap – they would be ready.
A whiff of cigarette smoke filled their nostrils, the disgust of the scent still not faltering their spine of steel stance as the ebony sheen of the metal birds grew bigger by the second.
“So, what’s the deal with this guy?” Hancock asks as he inhales his hit of nicotine, gold plated flip-lighter being tucked back into his crimson pocket with an equally coral colored hand. “How much time have you spent with him? What’s his vibe?”
“I’ve spent a decent amount with him.” They reply, eyes blinking but not moving from the airport. “I’ve worked under him for a while now. He trusts me.”
“But, do you trust him?” He gestures with his hand, pointing the smouldering end of his white stick towards the incoming cavalry. “Because I don’t think many here do.” His voice was lowered so only they and Preston could hear him. Hancock is smart. He read the situation pretty well.
“We’ll see.” Their tone is soft, quiet. Their mind ticking.
Preston glances between his General and the Ghoul. “Whatever the case, it’s too late to be speculating that now. I’m sure the General has thought of every possible outcome. After all, they didn’t bring us this far by throwing caution to the wind.”
Their perfect lips part slightly in a small laugh. “That’s exactly how I got us here.”
“Okay... bad example.” He shrugs, head dipping to the right as if shaking off unwanted information. “But... whatever you did, it’s working. So, I trust your judgment.”
“I don’t.” A third voice chimes in quietly, a lilt of light-heartedness in the tone. “They once dragged me to a museum saying it would be fun. ...Tha---t place had a Deathclaw nesting inside.”
MacCready held out his hand to Hancock without even setting eyes upon him. “But, they did get us out alive, I'll give them that.”
Hancock’s beady black eyes roll as he sinks his hand into the inside of his coat, pulling out his box of cigarettes'. “You know, a ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ one of these days would be appreciated.”
“Well, I didn’t ask to be dragged to some old witchcraft creep-fest. So why would I say please and thanks?”
Hancock let’s out a gruff sigh of exasperation as he tucks his cardboard back inside. “Know what? No. No cigarette for you.”
MacCready’s broken nose crinkles. “What? Aw, c’mon! Was it something I said?”
The vertibirds were audible now; the droning hums that once filled the General with pride as they fought alongside their brothers and sisters, now transmuting into a strange dread.
“What the hell does he want?” Mac isn’t as good at hiding his unease as the rest of them, getting visibly agitated. “You know, I could take him out from the wall.”
“And have twelve to fifteen angry men in power Armour charge at us? Use your damn brain.” Preston scolds.
“I’m still a Paladin.” Y/N reminds them. “He’s still my Elder.”
“But, you’re a minuteman first, right?” Preston asks, large brown eyes pouring with his usual adorable innocence.
He’s answered with a single nod as the ground begins to vibrate; the five choppers now close enough to push Hancock to slap his hand over his hat to prevent it flying away; the strong gust of wind blowing the end of his cig off from the rest of the stick.
The landing gear deploys, a mechanical groan emitting from the machines as the engines switch off, all five of them landing in a small semi-circle around the group of gawping minutemen and their leaders.
The ground shakes as large and loud booms emit from the BoS soldiers leaping onto the soil in their robot-like suits; their faceless helmets instantly snapping to look at the group they’ve been ordered to greet.
“Paladin.” One nods to Y/N through his speaker.
They weren't sure who it was but it didn’t matter. From his armour, they knew his rank.
“Knight.” Was their reply with a curt nod as the Elder himself dismounts his personal ride; all eyes instantly gluing themselves to his stiff and proud form.
A Paladin followed – unknown identity thanks to his power armour.
“Ah Paladin.” Maxson’s authoritive voice greets as he makes his way up to the awestruck group – his eyes not once leaving Y/N's form. “I’m glad you agreed to this meeting. From what I hear, you’ve been making positive waves across the Commonwealth. I wanted to see what my underling was doing for myself. And even offer our assistance at ridding the filth that infests us.”
Underling. A power move already? They think as they remain stone-faced, falling into the salute of the Brotherhood. “Elder. It’s an honour to have you at the Castle.”
Preston frowns at their words – gloved hands gripping his laser rifle a little tighter than intended.
“Like wise.” He returns the salute, his eyes looking... well, they couldn’t quite place their finger on it. It was a look they'd never seen from him before, yet still seemed like a familiar expression. At least from his tone, he seemed pleased. “My men here will remain outside. Only Paladin Danse will be accompanying me. I don’t want to... impose.”
“Danse?” Y/N blinks at the Paladin behind Maxson.
“L/N.” He replies with a nod.
“Ah yes. I thought it would be fitting to bring your sponsor along with us. You seem to work great together on the field.” Maxson smirks – y/n knew that was his usual smile. You’d never catch the Elder in a full-blown beam of happiness.
Y/N felt a lot better for a moment that Danse was with them. Then it came crashing down when they realised that man would run into hell for his Elder. Support from him if things went wrong probably wasn't on the cards.
“Okay, well then... shall we?” Y/N gestures towards the Castle that was now quickly falling into the shadow of twilight.
Maxon nods before turning to his small army. “Remember, we are guests here. On your best behaviour soldiers.”
A unison, robotic chant of “Yes sir!” chimed through the air before Maxson turned back to follow the General.
“It seems we have a lot to talk about.” He comments as they begin their stride.
Something in the way he said that fuelled the sense of dread that brewed deep within Y/N's stomach. Their instincts were usually right – and they were screaming that something wasn’t entirely how it seemed to be.
poisoned apples
pairing: levi x reader- grad school/boxer au summary: you tell your parents about levi and they aren’t too happy. so you do the logical thing and break up with him. word count: 4039 warnings: blood, fighting, angst, oc’s family is very annoying (her family is against her and levi being together), levi is lowkey creepy for like 1% of this story, SMUT AT THE END (18+) a/n: another installment of perpendicular heavily inspired by the first gen experience and dating...enjoy. and ty to @bbygrgu for catching when i made dad a mafia boss by accident
The first time you had told Levi that your parents wouldn’t approve of him, he had shrugged it off. What did it matter, anyway? He’s never known you to care very much about what other people think.
But your parents’ approval was different.
You’ve always been the apple of their eye, their youngest princess who could and would do no wrong. Even when you kept your grades up in high school, when you were the picture perfect daughter- they didn’t know what you were up to. You had maintained your image of innocence until the moment you could move out for college.
They didn’t know what you were up to behind the scenes in college. And now, in graduate school.
They didn’t know that you smoked with your boyfriend, that your boyfriend had split knuckles from boxing more often than not. But they also don’t know that your boyfriend works two jobs to support his sick mother, that he’s in the top ten percent of his masters in computer science program and will surely have a job lined up after graduation.
They don’t know that you love him. They don’t know how much he loves you- how he’d walk the ends of the earth for you. How he’s your pillar, your person. They don’t know that despite the cold steel of his eyes, he has the biggest beating heart of anyone you know.
Because you haven’t told them. You know your parents better than anyone- that they’ll judge him before they know him.
You’ve been together officially for the better part of nearly a year. And officially, it’s been a little longer. Levi can tell when something’s on your mind by this point- from how your pout turns a little thoughtful and your eyes are far away.
He wraps an arm around your shoulders and rubs your upper arm. “What is it?” Levi asks quietly.
“Huh?” You ask, breaking out of your reverie and turning your gaze towards him. A fading bruise sits on his jaw, and you thumb the area around it tenderly.
“You’re quiet today.”
“Maybe I’m just tired.”
Levi raises his eyebrow at you, as if to wordlessly say “really?”
You’re silent for a few moments before sighing and leaning into his chest. “I think I want to tell my parents about you.”
Levi will never pressure you about things like that- he knows where he stands with you and you know where you stand with him. But he won’t deny the small upturn of his lips.
“I’ve already met your mom and your uncle,” You continue softly, “I think I’ll tell them.”
You’ve told Levi about your parents before- about how you had to secretly and cleverly maneuver through the invisible rules they had you under. How you still find trouble spreading your wings. How most of your childhood was mainly you being told not to bring trouble, that your parents had it hard as it was-
“Always knew it.”
“What did you know?” You roll your eyes at him.
“You’re naughty,” Levi smirks, “You put up this pretty princess persona. But I know you. You’re smart and vicious and not afraid to get dirty.”
“You sure? You know it’s nothin’ to me if you wanna wait,” Levi murmurs, nose in your hair.
“Yeah,” You nod, “I think it’s about time. I… want them to know you.
“I love you,” You say almost shyly and Levi drops a slow kiss to your lips in response.
And that’s that.
Needless to say, the next time you saw your parents a few weeks later you were planning on telling them about Levi. Nerves seized you- despite your attempts at convincing yourself that they’d be happy for you- that you’d found someone who loves you wholly and completely…. You can’t help but think that something is about to go wrong.
It’s over dinner that you’re planning on telling them. Your older brother and older sister are in town as well, and are helping Mom with setting the table as you wash the pots and pans.
This is where you grew up, and yet you’ve never felt so uncomfortable.
Once there are five plates of hot food and glasses of water in front of your parents and your siblings, you take a deep breath.
“I have something to tell you,” You say clearly, resisting the urge to pick at the hem of your brown corduroy skirt.
Four pairs of eyes turn to you curiously and expectantly.
“I’m seeing someone,” You say, your voice a little less confident than before. Mom gasps excitedly, bringing a moment of relief to your senses. Your siblings stare at you unnervingly, as if they can see right through you. Dad only looks at you with wide eyes.
You don’t know what to think.
“Tell us about them!” Mom says eagerly.
“Umm… well,” You stammer with heated cheeks, “He treats me well. We go to the same school, he’s doing a masters in computer science…”
That makes Mom and Dad’s eyes light up. You roll your eyes. Still, your siblings say nothing.
“Show me a picture,” Mom demands, stretching her hand out for your phone. Desperation for her approval clings to your heart like a synapse that never stopped surging.
“He looks oddly familiar…” Mom murmurs with narrowed eyes, “Do you know him? Where do I know him from...” She turns her head to your brother and sister.
They’ve never been particularly good at lying. Or rather, this time- they just didn’t want to.
“That’s the guy,” Your sister says, not meeting your eyes, “The one we saw her with. The one we told you is in a fight club-”
Your jaw drops, and no noise comes out of your throat. Horror lines your tongue and you have to squeeze your nails into your palms to stop panic from flooding your veins.
But your brother is shameless and always has been. He looks you dead in the face, something cruel spinning in his irises and says, “His name’s Levi. Ackerman. We saw-”
“So you’re spying on me now?” You hiss, the full weight of their actions not quite hitting you, “You both don’t have anything fuckin’ better to do?”
Mom gasps at your language. You scoff at her, throwing a nasty look her way. She deflates only slightly- because she’s never seen such a look on your face before.
“You’re our baby sister,” Your brother says, and you stand abruptly from the table, pointing an accusing finger at him. “We only want you safe.”
“I don’t need your concern!” You hiss at him, eyes narrowed to slits and flames licking your words.
“If it wasn’t for us, you’d be parading around with a washout who boxes illegally! You should be thanking us,” Your sister says, returning your fire.
“No,” You seethe as tears of frustration spring into your eyes, “He treats me well, he’s so good to me. He respects me, isn’t that what matters?”
Before anyone can counter you-
“Enough!” Dad bellows as he stands from his seat. The heat in your belly extinguishes, but only barely. You tear your blazing eyes away from your siblings and to your father, about to scream right back at him.
“If this is true,” Dad continues, “If this Levi boxes illegally-”
“He doesn’t have money either, Dad,” Your sister supplies.
“Oh my god,” You screech, “You’re such a-”
“If this is true, you won’t be seeing him anymore. I don’t want to hear about this again. And if you think about seeing him behind our backs… we’ll know. And you won’t be getting that tuition money for school anymore.”
You’ve never hated them as much as you did right at that moment.
Your heart hasn’t felt the same since you were home that weekend. It’s been a few days, and you haven’t reached out to Levi yet.
You need to break up with him, you know it. You won’t risk your education on him, no matter how awful it is for your parents to very much blackmail you with it.
It hurts that you don’t have their approval.
You’re delaying the inevitable. So when Levi shows up to your apartment on the following Wednesday with your dinner from your favorite Thai restaurant, you feel your heart shattering already.
“Hey, princess,” Levi says smoothly, dropping the food to the dining table and trying to pull you into his arms for a kiss. You turn your cheek at the last minute, not able to look him in the eye.
Levi immediately knows something is wrong- you’re never this silent. Your hands are pressed against his chest, almost holding him away from you.
In the last year and change that he’s known you, he’s never known you to reject his touch. Not like this.
“What’s wrong?” Levi asks, cradling your cheek. Your lips are parted, a shaky exhale expelling from them. Your eyes are a little red and puffy.
You’ve been crying. You’ve been crying and he had no idea.
“Levi,” You mumble in a small voice. As if you’re trying to memorize the way his name feels on your tongue.
“Princess,” Levi replies, worry beginning to creep into him.
“I told my parents about us,” You mumble, the confession adding to the tension of the room, “And my brother and sister.”
He stays quiet, waiting for you to continue.
“I can’t… they said I can’t be with you. They said they won’t help me with school if I’m with you,” You mutter, feeling foolish as the words slip from your lips, “They don’t want me to be with you.”
Levi steps back from you exactly two steps and it feels like he’s plunged a knife into your chest. The loss of his touch echoes in the emptiness of your hands. You cross your arms across your chest unsurely. He stares at you in silence for a few deafening moments. Your ears might bleed from the silence.
“So what are you saying?” He finally asks after a minute.
“That I can’t be with you. I-I’m… I’m breaking up with you, Levi,” You finally muster out. Unshed tears sit in your eyes and Levi is too in love with you to resist comforting you when you’re this distressed- even if you’re breaking up with him and breaking his heart.
Levi gathers you in his arms and thumbs away your falling tears. You broke up with him, and he’s comforting you- the thought makes you choke out another sob.
You both stand like that for a few minutes, your tears staining his black coat. The silence between you both is palpable and suffocating.
The only viable option you see is letting him go. But you don’t want to, god, you don’t want to- not when this man is your other half. When he’s your best friend, your favorite person, not when he gives meaning to the word love.
Levi finally speaks.
“I won’t tell you what to do. But just know I’ll treat you right and you’ll never feel caged with me,” Levi murmurs, tendrils of adoration tinting his words, “I love you.”
He presses a long kiss to your forehead before leaving your apartment. His kiss feels unfamiliar, and when your knees buckle and you’re on the floor, a sobbing mess, you realize why-
It tasted like goodbye.
One month. Two month. Then three.
You’ve never been the girl helplessly in love. You’ve never been the girl who wouldn’t be able to get by without the reciprocated love from your lover. You’ve never been the type to spiral recklessly. You’ve always been fine after breakups and dates that had gone sideways.
You can live without Levi, but you don’t want to.
But loving and losing Levi hurts worse than any kind of pain. You see him everywhere on campus- a tuft of silky, black hair here, a glance of a similar looking backpack there… You even think you see him at the coffee shop that you met him at. If you were stronger, you’d avoid that coffee shop altogether. But you don’t want to let go of the memory of your first time meeting him, and you don’t want to let go of the opportunity to watch you both in your mind’s eye.
Everything reminds you of him. Everything brings tears to your eyes. You’re just a stupid girl in love with a man you can’t have.
You haven’t spoken to your siblings since that day, despite their many attempts to reach out to you. Texts, claiming that they were just looking out for you and that they loved you, went unanswered by you.
You can’t bear to speak to them. You think if you’d ever muster the courage to reach out to him again… You wonder what you might do. A small part of you hates that your family still has this grip over you- that you’re in love with a man who respects and loves you and protects you, and because they don’t approve- you can’t be with him.
You hate it. You hate that you succumbed to it. You hate that you hurt him- the heartbroken kiss he had given you has been replaying in your mind every day. Every night.
It still hurts as if it’s fresh, as if three months haven’t gone by since you broke up with him. You often wonder what Levi is doing-
After all, he hadn’t put up any type of fight for you. But you don’t allow those thoughts to get very far. It’s not like you had positioned it as something to discuss. You had made the final call and pulled the trigger on your relationship.
It was because of you. Was it worth it? To break up with him? For your family’s perceived happiness?
The questions leave a dull ache in your heart. You feel as if you’ve been spoiled with his love, and you had carelessly ripped his heart into shreds.
Today, you’re walking to one of your exams in your building and you swear you catch sight of Levi’s hair in the atrium of the building. But it’s gone as quick as it comes. And you head inside, putting thoughts of Levi behind you to focus on your exam.
Levi has been distracted for the last three months. Even if it doesn’t show- even if he’s doing spectacular in school, even if he’s on a new win streak in the boxing ring- his mind is almost always elsewhere.
His mind is always on you. What are you doing? Do you miss him? Is your relationship with your family improving? Is it worth it?
He’ll never tell you what to do, or what decisions to make. He only wants you to make a decision with no regrets, if that decision is truly what you want.
But damn, he wonders if you regret this decision. Levi has always been good at compartmentalizing- he lives by the same philosophy. Make a choice with no regrets. He’ll never regret following your lead and giving you what you want.
But what if you hadn’t wanted it? And what if… he hadn’t wanted it either?
Levi sees you more and more in the last month or so- showing up to places that you both used to frequent as a couple and places on campus. The coffee shop, some of your lecture hall buildings. He remains in the background, as a shadow. Only to catch a glimpse of you. Are you happy?
Your eyes are sullen, your smile dimmed. But he’s sure nobody can tell. Because you’re good at that- being the perfect princess.
He feels like a ghost in his own life. Is this living?
Levi has to move on. He loves you, his love for you still burns as bright as it did months ago. But he has to move on.
Erwin tells you that there’s a boxing match tonight. It’s the finals of whatever the equivalent of playoffs in the boxing world is-
“He’d like it if you were there,” Erwin says, voice uncharacteristically soft.
“So he can tell me himself,” You say somewhat bitterly, “We’re not...together anymore.”
You choke.
“You and I both know he won’t tell you himself. Not when you broke up with him.”
“So it’s my fault then?” You exclaim. Erwin only watches you with wary, calm eyes.
“I’m only telling you what’s true. You don’t have to come, but he’d like it if you were there.”
Over the last few weeks, really since the first night without Levi, regret has been settling in your bones. Had you made the right decision? Was it worth it, to be this unhappy? Just to maintain harmony with your family? You think if you hadn’t rushed to break up with him, you could have talked about it. Levi has always been level-headed, almost too level-headed (like the way he had just accepted you breaking up with him).
You think you could conquer anything with Levi standing next to you.
You can’t stay away. So you’re in the stands of the ring, watching Levi warily. He looks good- he’s bulked up a little. But you can see the lines of weariness beneath his eyes.
You still ache for him. You are still his. Seeing him this close only solidifies what you already knew.
You are undisputedly his. And he is yours.
Watching him, throw punch after punch, and sidestep jab after jab… All for his mother. To support his family.
Tears well up in your eyes. You want to be part of his family. The epiphany hits you like a freight train- but it’s a welcome one.
You want to love him the way you know how. You want him to love you.
You wait in the locker room for him, anticipation surging up your spine as you pace around the locker room.
Erwin looks like he’s got a stick up his ass, and Levi doesn’t hesitate to mention it. Levi rolls his eyes and walks into the men’s locker room.
But nothing prepares him for the sight he sees in front of him.
It’s you.
It’s you, sitting on the bench, looking as pretty as ever. Gold hoops hang from your ears, a sunflower yellow blouse with the top three buttons unbuttoned and a plum colored skirt hugs your hips.
You bite your bottom lip, tearing through your skin mercilessly. Your heart slams right out of your ribcage. His eyes are narrowed at you, drinking you in.
He’s a man dehydrated and you are his oasis.
Before you can whisper his name, he beats you to it. “Why are you here?” Levi asks sharply. His voice is flat, but you can hear the undercurrent of anger in his voice. Hurt masked by anger.
“Yeah, I missed you, too,” You mutter, standing up from the bench. You keep your distance from him, feeling the iciness in his glare. “Erwin told me you were fighting today. Somethin’ about the playoffs. Just...wanted to see you.”
He quirks a thin eyebrow at you. “Wanted to see me three months later?”
You immediately get defensive, “It’s not like you were dying to see me, either.”
A flicker of annoyance, “And what’s that supposed to mean?”
“You just let me go- you could’ve… You could’ve fought for me! You just fuckin’ let me go,” You exclaim in frustration, tears pricking your eyes.
“Don’t- you picked your family,” Levi says harshly, “When we could’ve figured it out together, you chose to be alone. Don’t put that on me.”
“I didn’t know what else to do! I thought I was doing the right thing,” You hiss, tears falling down your cheeks openly now. You’ve never been good at hiding your feelings from Levi. “You just let me go. As if the last year meant nothing to you-”
“The last year meant nothing to me?” Levi asks, his voice perfectly level. He takes a few steps closer to you and your breath hitches.
Your head is spinning. He hasn’t been this close to you in months- and yet it feels like no time has passed.
“I love you,” Levi says quietly, “We would’ve figured it out. If the last year meant nothing to me then, this,” Levi darts out, grabbing your hand and pressing it to his bare left pec, “Wouldn’t be yours. It’s always yours, princess. But damn, baby. It hurt.”
“Levi,” Your voice is strangled, in pain, “I’m sorry, my love-”
“You made a choice,” Levi says pointedly, “Do you regret it?”
“Yes,” You breathe, “But I’m scared for us, for you-”
“We’ll figure it out,” Levi promises, cradling your face in his rough hands. He catches your stray tears with his thumb and presses his forehead to yours.
“I missed you,” You choke out with a sob, “So fuckin’ much. I’m sorry, I hurt you. I hurt us. I love you, I love you, I love you. I know we have so much to work through. But I love you, and I believe in you.”
“Let’s go home,” Levi mumbles, resisting the urge to drop kisses to your forehead, your cheek, your lips.
“Will you let me love you,” Levi rasps, cupping your cheek as he rocks into you slowly. The head of his cock brushes against your walls prettily, as if no time has passed since the last time.
He belongs here, inside of you like this. You mold to him and he molds to you.
Levi squeezes your waist, dipping his head for a harsh kiss. He kisses you as if he’s loved you for a thousand years, and he’ll love you for a thousand more. He peppers soft kisses to your face and you moan into his touch, notes of his name escaping your lips.
“I love you,” Levi grunts as he rolls his hips into yours in movements of honey.
He’s not usually this talkative. But he knows you both need it. Levi sucks a mark, then another, over your tits and you tug your hands through his hair.
“Baby,” You whine, “Wanna give you everything...Love you, I love you, fuck, I’m sorry I hurt you-”
“You are everything,” Levi says, his nose in your neck, “Gonna give you everything, princess. Fuck-”
Levi nearly loses his rhythm at the gush of wetness that floods his cock. He groans and looks between you both, at the way his cock pushes into your wet pussy. This is where he belongs, in between your soft thighs.
You take Levi’s hand in between yours and squeeze. You think you could stay like this forever, with him moving so unhurriedly above you. His hips melting with yours, the broad expanse of his back pliant under your nails.
“Be mine again,” You beg, “Please, baby, be mine again-”
“Will you let me love you,” Levi asks again, gazing deep into your eyes.
“Yes, yes,” You moan, “Like that, baby- fuck, o-oh- Levi…” You wrap your legs around his waist, pulling him even closer to you as your tits brush against his glistening chest. You see the moon gazing at you through his irises.
You want everything, and he is everything.
You’re boneless in his arms, tucked into his side with the sheets covering your bare body. A leg is thrown over his waist and you rub mindless circles over his chest as he holds you close. Not wanting to let you go.
Your breaths are soft against his warmed skin. Your eyes are still puffy, from crying but Levi always thinks you’re pretty.
And having you in his arms, in his bed, after three months is an added plus.
“I meant it,” You mumble sleepily, “I love you.”
“What about your family?” Levi asks, squeezing the hand resting on his chest.
“I don’t know,” You say shakily, “I’m scared. But wanna figure it out with you. For you, it’s worth it. For you, everything is worth it.”
Levi only answers you with a soft kiss that makes your toes curl. He doesn’t know what tomorrow might bring, but he has you today. After this long, he has you for today.
And tomorrow will come, the sun and moon will rise separately, but you’ll get through it together.
