thinking of the “two humans who don’t vibe in the same party” + the “you can’t just have one, you need three or four humans” quote from one of your first human kink posts. trying to not only “tame” your party’s humans for yourself but also trying to socialize them so they can stand each other lmao

Humans are unpredictable. That's the thing. No matter how many guides and books you read to try and understand them, the only lesson you'll end up with is "do not try and put humans in a mould, they never fit."

I had past friends that I shared nothing in common with, some I met by pure chance and stupid coincidences. While the "friends" that were right for me that went to the same school and shared my ideas, never worked out for younger me.

You don't get to choose what you like, otherwise you'll just choose liking everything. Sometimes you just hate a person for no reason and nothing can change that, their whole being annoys you no matter how much you try and understand them. I feel unspeakable rage when I eat mint chocolate whilst others worship it like the sun.

The other races certainly could try to get the humans to get along, it will just annoy both humans. Because when two people hate each other mutually they avoid the other, forcing them to stay in the same place will funnel their wrath at you instead.

Maybe even the two humans will work together to get rid of you since you've became a bigger annoyance. You'd think this would get them to learn how to get along in some reverse psychology bullshit but it doesn't, they still despise the other, they just want you to stop pushing them.

The easiest way to ruin a human harem is to force them to do something they don't want to. Take their free will away away and add expectations and the humans start biting. No other race values their individuality as much as we do.

Like a drow matron who got too cocky and ordered her human consorts to get along. Sure she is worried a bit about their lack of socialising but that's a general statement, some humans prefer being alone or the company of other races. Push too much and you'll end up with a broken arm because nothing is budging them, they're verstile and adaptable to their own terms not yours.

I'd imagine if she kept trying to force them to become friends, they end up leaking her military and defence information to another house just to her off of their back.

Don't get too greedy, don't underestimate humanity and treat it as a docile petting zoo for you to mix and match your future pets from.

Some humans like sharing with others, some humans like being around other humans more. Some refuse anything but absolute devotion to them, others get annoyed by other humans and human cities.

Humans have certain social structures, an invisible layer of social rules and politeness that we get so accustomed to we can't even see anymore. No matter how casual you are with others, if you have a criteria to what would be weird behaviour around you then you follow certain social rules.

Humanity is an endless masquerade. The philosophy of each person wearing three masks. Each mask is part of you, yet not fully you. Each mask is a lie but a truth on its own. Not even you can view the real you.

It's simply too vulnerable and raw. We have to layer and viel our hearts and souls even from our own wandering eyes. We are always the first to dig our nails in our tender balms if we mess up after all.

Other races don't comprehend it and aren't required to play along. If another human touched my hair without permission I'd yell at them and become angered, if a dragonborn or a hafling does it then I'll be less weirded out and more curious.

Because of that lack of social rules, you're not expected to preform either. You can put down the mask, you can be weird without feeling cringe or shame, and that's why certian humans like not mixing with other humans.

It's freeing, not dancing along to the melody of social rules, you get too comfortable. Another human around you breaks that illusion and makes you unconsciously put the chains of expectations back on.

We can't help it, it's nurture and nature to us. We raised our kids that way and we are born with pattern recognition and advanced social comprehension. Our whole frontal lobe is dedicated to purly that.

Humans are insanely complicated, a whole ocean of emotions, deserts of thoughts where every single grain of sand is a single thought we had for a second, a realisation, a memory, a promise, everything that shaped who we are.

But on the surface, we are plain, simple, easy to swallow, and take the shape of anything around us much like water. It gives the false impression that we can be "tamed" or "socialised" akin to the dogs we kept as pets.

Funny how we are the ones who took the wolves and made dogs out of them, and yet they expect to do the same to us without us realising it? We immediately pick up on any hints of manipulation, your gut feeling isn't there for show and other races probably lack it.

Aniwye

[Welcome to Creature Codex: World Tour! It’s been a while since I’ve done a dedicated block of mythological/folkloric entities, and my theme this time around is “no theme in particular”. I’m going to be spending a month on each of the six (inhabited) continents, with the hope of highlighting some cultures and traditions that I’ve otherwise neglected. For example, the Australasia chunk will contain monsters from New Zealand, Melanesia and Polynesia in addition to mainland Australia. I also will be using this opportunity for more “if I ran the zoo” monsters; new stat blocks for monsters I don’t like the official Paizo versions of.

First up is North America, and we’re starting with the aniwye, a giant killer skunk from the Anishinaabe people. This image has been circulating around for a while representing the aniwye, but as near as I can figure, was originally intended to be a honey badger inspired monster. Brent Hollowell’s original art blog is gone, and although most pieces from it have reappeared on his newer official web presence, this one has not. There is an aniwye in D&D 5e through Tome of Beasts 2 by Kobold Press: that one is a shapeshifter, inspired by versions where an ogre is turned into a skunk after he is killed. My version draws from a Cree version of the story where Wolverine kills Aniwye, in which Aniwye has supernatural tracking abilities.]

Aniwye CR 10 LE Magical Beast This creature appears like a skunk the size of an elephant. It has long flat claws on its forelegs, an array of fangs, and a white stripe running along its back. Its stench is eye-watering.

The aniwye is a giant skunk that behaves more like a dragon. They are overlords of wide ranges of woodland territory, demanding fealty and tribute. The domain of an aniwye may have little outward indication of ownership, although aniwye do decorate trailheads and landmarks with trophies taken from their victims. Most aniwye are so territorial that they demand no other sapient creature cross their path, and if they find that one has, will track it down to kill it in retribution. Aniwye are phenomenal trackers, able to follow a trail at top speed without penalty, and gaining supernatural knowledge of the creatures they are tracking.

In combat, an aniwye uses its corrosive blast as much as it can. Its glandular secretions are so powerful that an aniwye stinks without spraying, but the spray is blinding and can corrode through stone, wood and flesh. In between blasts, an aniwye fights with its claws and teeth. They are stubborn combatants, and in defense of their territory typically fight to the death, spraying to the last breath.

Aniwye are voracious omnivores that consume primarily meat, fruit and berries. They have a special fondness for venomous animals and poisonous plants. The tribute they demand of other creatures often takes the form of foods rather than more permanent goods, especially baked, fermented or otherwise prepared. A single male aniwye tends to rule over a larger territory, with several smaller female territories within it. The females remain dispersed except during the winter, when the whole harem typically gathers together. Aniwye are typically less active during the winter, although they do not hibernate.

A creature that takes acid damage from an aniwye’s corrosive blast must succeed a DC 21 Fortitude save or be blinded for 1d10 minutes. The save DC is Constitution based. Death Burst (Su) When it takes damage that would kill it, an aniwye may use its corrosive blast as an immediate action. If its corrosive blast has not recharged, this blast deals minimum damage (15 on a failed save). Predictive Tracker (Su) When it uses Survival to follow a creature’s tracks, an aniwye learns that creature’s species, age, gender, alignment, class and level or Hit Dice. It may also designate a creature identified in this fashion as its quarry, even if it does not have line of sight to that creature. Quarry (Ex) As a standard action, an aniwye may denote one target within its line of sight, or that it has identified with its predictive tracker ability, as its quarry. Whenever the aniwye is following the tracks of its quarry, it can take 10 on his Survival skill checks while moving at normal speed without penalty. In addition, it receives a +2 insight bonus on attack rolls and damage rolls made against his quarry, and all critical threats are automatically confirmed. It can dismiss this effect at any time as a free action, but it then cannot select a new quarry for 24 hours. If the aniwye sees proof that its quarry is dead, it can select a new quarry after waiting 1 hour.

Brothers Conflict (Passion Pink) Part 4 - Asahina Tsubaki Route

Time for Tsubaki, yay! Aww, it's kinda cute how passionate Subaru and Yusuke are rooting for their respective basketball teams lol. I love how Azusa and Tsubaki invited Ema to their event, and I loved how Ema gave a lot of thought into her answers when they asked her how the event was. It was really cute how she felt proud that they were her brothers when people really liked the event and praised them hahaha. On the other hand, lmao at Tsubaki wanting to jump into her arms every time she said something cute, and lolll at Juli getting annoyed at Tsubaki getting so close to Ema. It was hilarious when Tsubaki told Ema to leave the squirrel behind next time there's an event since it's so noisy😂😂 Aww I love the aquarium date where Tsubaki touches her cheek saying she's cold, and Ema touches his hand to say he's cold too, that's pretty adorable, they even seemed to hold hands for a bit?!🥲 I also really liked how he guided her like a prince/butler to the horse riding part of the zoo haha, it's never boring with Tsubaki and his antics.

Loll at Rui getting heatstroke after building a sandcastle🤣 Wow, Azusa and Tsubaki can drive a boat? Dangg. Aww, I love how they both reassured Ema that they'll definitely protect her (when it started raining and the boat engine "broke down") and held her hand to show their conviction and give her warmth since it was cold. I knewww Tsubaki was lying about the engine! Poor Ema. She was so worried. I'm kinda sad that Tsubaki doesn't get an individual moment on the holiday with Ema though! Tsubaki picking clothes for Ema during a shopping date is the best~ I love how encouraging he is and how he earnestly loves dressing her up and wanting to match with her, it's so cute haha. It's so adorable how happy Tsubaki was to eat Ema's handmade bento, lmao when he kept telling her to feed him loll. Okay, lmao at if Ema stays to watch Tsubaki and Azusa and see them "confess their love" to each other with the roses CG hahahaha. They were pretty into it (for their acting)😂 At least Tsubaki was pretty upfront with her that a guy and a girl in the same room sleeping together would make him think about things hahaha, it's cute how he gave her a kiss on the forehead~ and I guess he gave her one on the lips too when she was "asleep". Wow, he even kissed her in the morning lol! I guess he's really going to try his best to make her realise she likes him too lol. Ohh woww, he kissed her in the bed and then asked to kiss her in other places loll, too bad Ema still wants to just treat him as an older brother even though as Tsubaki said, they've done things that have crossed the line ages ago lol. Anyway, lmao how when Ema can't fall asleep, instead of counting sheep, Tsubaki counts Azusas😂😂😂

I wonder why Tsubaki seems to be worried or sad over Azusa? Anyway, as I said before (in Hikaru's post), I really liked how Tsubaki convinced Ema to go back and talk to her dad (when she found out she was adopted) and told her that she's become someone important to him and not just a "moe" little sister to him, and that these thoughts didn't need actual ties of blood, so her dad should treasure her too regardless of their blood ties. LMAO at Ema shooing Juli out into the hallway because she wanted to concentrate on the game she was playing with Tsubaki and not hear Juli nagging and telling her to study lolol. I see...so Tsubaki feels like he's inferior to Azusa in terms of acting and everything, and it doesn't help that Azusa actually started voice acting stuff later than him and mainly did it because Tsubaki felt like something was missing when he went to classes without Azusa. I guess it's kinda like that with siblings who are "better" than you. You'll always feel a bit jealous, but having them beside you makes you happy so it's a pretty conflicting feeling. Awww, I loved how Ema was really good at the game and the strategies etc, and Tsubaki told her to make him "fall for her" with her strategies hahaha.

I honestly didn't think a depressed Tsubaki would make my heart break so much. It was so sad that Tsubaki was dropped from the audition for the lead of the anime series he always wanted to be in, it was basically his dream...and it wasn't because he lacked anything, it's just that the producers (I think?) decided on Azusa already. I'm glad Ema told him what she thought and how Azusa was really worried too but didn't want to hurt his feelings. Omgg when he asked her to stay overnight because he didn't want to be alone and wanted to be with her🥺 Lmaoo at Ema the pro gamer ordering Natsume, Tsubaki and Azusa around, she's such a leader when it comes to games. I find it hilarious that Natsume even said not many people in his company have played as many hours as her😂 It's so funny how they're all so shocked that her personality changes when she's playing games😂 Lmao at Azusa asking Ema to go with Tsubaki to the shops because he doesn't trust him and basically calls him a kid with an income so he probably can't control himself during Christmas time😂😂 I really liked how Tsubaki thanked her for her encouragement and made him think it's okay to be him, and move forward as his energetic self because everyone loves that part of him I guess? Okay, I did not expect Tsubaki to hold Ema's hands and blow on them to keep them warm because that was super cuteee! Awww and he put her hand in his pocket so she wouldn't be cold!

Honestly, seeing Tsubaki break down over the collapsed Azusa was really heartbreaking. Suzumura Kenichi (Tsubaki's VA) was so good here, because I could really feel Tsubaki's desperation and pain, and how much guilt he felt afterwards (at the hospital when he refused to leave until he saw Azusa) for being "selfish" at being absorbed by his feelings and forgetting that everyone else is worried and scared too. I really loved Ema at the hospital, she convinced and really helped Tsubaki realise that his worried and dejected face would not be what Azusa would like to see, and that he needs to go to the company and tell them about Azusa's condition so they can rearrange his jobs etc. I knew Azusa's condition would lead to Tsubaki being able to finally take on the lead of that robot anime role he always wanted, but yeah I think Tsubaki's complicated feelings about it are understandable. This role is his dream, but he doesn't feel like he earned it, and is merely Azusa's replacement and I think that's a saddening way to achieve your dream. But at the same time, I'm sure Ema and his fans will be able to show him that this isn't pity and underserved, that he's not a replacement and is his own person. And I really liked how Ema did it! She told him she liked Tsubaki's voice, so there was no point copying Azusa, and that even though they may be twins, they are their own person, and that both their voices are different and are wonderful in their own ways and have their respective charms. I think I really liked it when Ema said she wanted to hear HIS voice. I liked how he ended up asking her what else she liked about him aside from his voice hahaha. Awww he gave her a kiss! Omggg he totally went for it and kept giving her kisses! Woww, hahaha, Ema wasn't the most comfortable because she still wants to think of him as a brother and this was in the living room, but she was definitely just embarrassed.

I'm soo happy Tsubaki finally told Azusa about how he always had a inferiority complex towards him but now he’s decided to face himself and understand he has his own qualities. I'm sure that's a relief to Azusa as well since Azusa was also worried and didn't know what he should do. I can't believe Azusa had to stay in the hospital for a whole month though! And he's going to work again the day after?? He's so hard-working. Aww nooo, Azusa actually told Ema he likes her but knows that her heart is with Tsubaki😭 I'm sad that Tsubaki had to say that he found someone more important to him than Azusa because I loveee Azusa and Tsubaki, however I can understand that they are probably way too attached to each other and it's inevitable that they'll find other people they will love. Anyway, I loved how Tsubaki told Ema how much he appreciates her, loves her and wanted her to be his girlfriend~ And I'm glad Ema could finallyyyy accept his feelings hahaha. They're honestly soo cute as a couple and I love how she practises his lines with him but I hope he still practises with Azusa every now and then because I think those are very precious moments they should continue to cherish~ Omggg at him telling her the room was soundproof hahaha. The CG was niceeee. Omgggg at the twins ending? Harem ending? Hahahah. I mean, I definitely wouldn't mind Azusa and Tsubaki...because I love them both too lolll. Ema is so lucky🥺

Overall, I loved Tsubaki's route. Definitely my favourite route right now. It has great romance development with Ema AND I loved his personal struggles with work and his love for Azusa, but also his inferiority complex towards him. I think these were portrayed really well, and I honestly really felt for Tsubaki's emotions and his ups and downs. I really liked seeing the "other side" to Tsubaki where he gets down about stuff, but at the same time acknowledging that the energetic and cheerful Tsubaki is who he is and what everyone loves. I think Ema supported Tsubaki really well in this route and also showed how strong of a person she was too. I thought I would have to resist from loving Azusa too much, but as Tsubaki realised in the end, Tsubaki definitely has his own charms and I totally fell for them. He's loving, sweet and unafraid to show his emotions and his love to Ema and I think there's a great balance of him showing his physical affection towards her as well as the emotional connection he feels for her. I definitely enjoyed every moment of it, every time I think about Tsubaki and everything that happened in this route, my heart just feels so warm and happy haha🥲🥲

 Whiskey and Sunset Nights by T.L. Anderson

Single Dad’s Series

 Emotions aplenty as I read this book. I was swept in and stayed invested throughout this short heartfelt deeply moving book.

 What I liked:

* Gray: such a good person, loving father, grief-stricken widow, wonderful son and brother, great friend, skilled builder ~ a man who endures and lives his life to the fullest no matter what comes his way.

* Ella: five-six year old daughter that misses her mother, is filled with love and life and joy, very active, accepting, a great character.

* Missy: The deceased wife of Gray and the best friend of Lily – a woman I admired and was sorry had died too soon. She was a bright light and enduring positive presence in more than one life.

* Lily: bookstore owner, best friend of Lily, good friend of Gray’s, friend to Grays brother and father, open and caring and giving and helpful ~ She was perfect as a person and character and love interest in this story.

* Asher: Gray’s younger brother, caterer, fun-loving, supportive ~ liked him

* Gray’s father: an anchor and safe place to land for Gray when he needed to change things after Missy died.

* The small town setting

* That there was no great drama but instead a slow warm friendship that grows into so much more.

* The way the aspect of grief was handled

* That it felt “real” and believable

* That there was a happy ending

 What I didn’t like:

* That Missy died…and being reminded that too many people are taken by cancer long before they and their loved ones are ready to have them leave.

 Did I enjoy this book? Yes

Would I read more by this author? Yes

 My dad takes a sip of his coffee, listening intently as Ella tells him about all the stops her and Uncle Ash took. Apparently, they stopped at a rest stop that had a gigantic rubber band ball in a case, and it had over 3,000 rubber bands wrapped around it. “That’s pretty neat there, kid. I bet it was fun taking all those stops with Uncle Ash. Did you see any animals while you were driving here?” Dad asks her.

           “We did!” She looks at her hands, her eyebrows drawn down as she counts off her fingers. “We saw cows and pigs. Oh, and horses!”

           “Don’t forget the llama,” Asher chimes in as he enters the kitchen. I glance up at him while taking a sip of my coffee and freeze mid-sip as I see who’s standing next to him. My heart races as my stomach drops out.

           “Hey there, Gray.” Lily Dean stands before me.

           My heart stops as I see the only other woman who can shatter me to pieces again. Something inside of me wants to let her. Seeing her makes me feel something besides numbness. Something raw and visceral.

           Her brown hair hangs down her back in thick curls, and her blue eyes are hesitant as she stands off to the side of Asher with her hands clasped in front of her. She’s wearing a pair of cutoff jean shorts and a plain white T-shirt, which makes her tanned skin pop.

           Asher walks over to Ella, picking her up and placing her on his shoulders. “Come on, kid, let’s go see your new room.” Without another word, they head out of the kitchen.

           My dad pushes up from his seat, coffee mug still in hand. “I’m going to go help them before they cause too much chaos.” He stops next to Lily and kisses her on the cheek in a fatherly way. “It’s good to see you, Lils.”

           She breaks eye contact with me to look at my dad, her gaze filled with gratitude. “Good to see you too, Mr. Pierce.”

           “I told you call me Jack. You’re not the scraggly little ten year old anymore. We’re all friends here,” Dad calls out as he disappears from the room.

           “Lily,” I breathe out. The last time I saw her was at Missy’s funeral. Lily and Missy were inseparable. She’d come and visit us out east every year and stay for a few weeks, and she and Missy would stay up late to catch up on gossip from back home. When she showed up to the funeral, it felt like my heart was being ripped out yet again. It was always Missy and Lily. So how am I supposed to look at her now without seeing the absence of my dead wife?

           She clears her throat while shifting from one foot to the other. “I didn’t mean to intrude. I was just stopping by to drop your dad off some old truck manuals I found for him. He’s been fixing up that old 1972 Chevy parked in the garage. It needs a lot of work, but I think he’ll get it running again soon.” She’s rambling on about the truck, and all I can do is stare at her. “Anyways, so I didn’t realize you’d be here today. I mean I knew you were coming back home, but I didn’t know it was today. I better get going so you all can get settled in.” She fiddles with the hem of her shirt, a nervous habit she’s had since she was a kid.

           “It’s fine. Stay for dinner with us.” My mouth blurts out the invitation before my brain can think through if this is a good idea or bad.

           Her eyes widen. “Oh no, I can’t intrude. Ella needs time to get comfortable, and I’m sure she’ll want to spend time with Jack.”

           Just at that moment Ella comes running into the room. “Lily, if you stay for dinner, we can have a tea party after!” She squeals with excitement as she puts her hand in Lily’s catching her off guard.

    Lily looks between Ella and me. I can see the conflict written in her features as she tries to keep her distance from me, but also not let Ella down. “Oh Ells, I’d love to…”

           Before she can say anything else I cut her off, “Perfect. Ell, go wash up and you can help me and Lily cook some dinner. How about hotdogs and burgers on the grill?”

           She starts jumping up and down. “Yay! I’ll be right back. Don’t start without me!” she yells while running down the hall to the bathroom.

           Lily doesn’t move. She bites her lip between her bottom teeth before speaking. “I don’t want to be a burden, Gray. I don’t want to replace…”

| 2017 Personal Rewind |

for two hours over here, actually. But it’s time for me to ramble about it! But I won’t make you scroll over it for an endless time, instead I’m offering you to read it by clicking keep reading ;)

FANDOMS

Okay, so fandom-wise, this year has been quite Cartoon-dominated. I think I watched like 10 cartoons, but only 2 anime. And that’s with someone who actually called cartoons out for how childish they can be and how they don’t fit my humour (I’m all about them anime-humour apparantly). So I myself was surprised when I noticed how many cartoons I watched this year:

Steven Universe I watched this one before 2017, and 2017 had the longest hiatus for SU ever, so uhhh yeah it wasn’t the best year but we had the Zoo and Abduction Arcs SOOOO yay? Like most, I have noticed a drop in excitement, but I still love this show for things it does so I can’t be too mad.

Star vs the forces of evil I am not sure if I watched season 1+2 this year or last (damn my memory), but I know I wasn’t too fond of this show. I didn’t think it was bad, it simply didn’t fascinate me the same way SU did. Even with battle for Mewni, I only liked the Eclipsa and Moon Parts and not much beyond that. In the new season I’ve grown to really like Tomstar for some reason, but I still think the episodes are too random at times and there is sometimes too little connection between them. But maybe I’m just too used to SU being slow-paced that I can’t handle how fast Star is jumping between events.

Voltron I'm not sure if S2 was this year or last year, but any way Voltron has been part of my 2017. I’ve had a phase where I really shipped Plance due to the Ouran High School Host Club Vibes it gave me back when I watched S1 and this year it decided to come back at me.  Else, the material has been great! I love the series, and how serious it is and how it doesn’t focus on romantic love AT ALL. I really like that, even if I started this Section with saying what I shipped. I’m so hyped Matt is back and the Keith almost-sacrifice scene really got me like I actually thought they were gonna do it. They never get me with almost-deaths. NEVER. 

Wakfu As Season 3 came closer so grew my expectations. When I finally watched it, I was blown away. I won’t sugar-coat that the Time-Paradox thing was 1000% Bullshit, but it won’t stop me from loving this season, even if it had it’s weak elements. But I just loved the rest too much and while I am picky with it, I can’t get myself to not enjoy it (which I’m really happy about because I hate it when some elements ruin something for me). Miraculous Oh I have a love-hate relationship with this show. I can see the potential and all, but it’s just too episodic for me, relies a bit too much on the cute love-square that changes progress every episode. The characters don’t always feel like what is established about them (for example, Adrien loved Ladybug, yet in the new season he KEEPS being overly nice to Marinette like dude sure you’re a bit oblivious but ughhh) and there are no conflicts present for more than one episode.  I really don’t like how they lured me in with the first episode being story-heavy and then keeping nothing happening for like 5 episodes. The only episodes I can even remember what actually really happened were “The Collector” bc of the obvious Gabriel-Adrien-Drama, the episode where her aunt (?) visits bc I heard she’s plot-relevant, but I don’t see how tbh; the episode with the Owl because it actually went out of the usual formular for an episode and Robustus because it had some story I guess in the last few seconds.  I really hope the season picks up soon, I’m like 10% invested haha.

Tangled The Series Holy fucking shit. Like I started watching it while doing other stuff and I started right before “Queen for a day” aired, so by the time I caught up, I could actually watch that episode and what can I say? The animation is beautiful, and you think it’d be a cute little series and suddenly there’s death and everyone’s hopeless and betraying and ??? WHAT HAPPENED. Varian and Cass are super enjoyable and I love the way the series is going! I’m super sad it’s going to end so soon! If you wanna know more of my thoughts, go here.

Teen Titans I BINGE-WATCHED THIS IN LIKE 1-2 WEEK/S. While I had to study so yas. Well I have to thank Tangled for the short hiatus I guess, because I was like “Man I need something else to watch then” and was like “I could just watch 1 or 2 episodes of Teen Titans each Saturday, I wanted to start that for a while!” and suddenly I was 10 episodes in. I love the characters, I love Raven, I love Star and I love Robstar as you probably noticed. I was surprised how much plot the show actually had (and how brutal Robin could be if he wanted) and I never really found episodes annoying except the ones that focussed extremely on other teams or superheroes, I’m just not invested enough in the DC Universe to care about these guys haha. I thought S3 and S5 were kinda weak and it also bothered my how Characters sometimes really shift in their characterstics SOMETIMES to further the plot. But it never got to the point that it annoyed me extremely.  Also it doesn’t even feel like “Stranded” happened at all in S5 cri hahahahaha. Also I don’t know where to place Trouble in Tokyo but I wasn’t too fond of the movie anyway so I guesssss it doesn’t matter. I liked it, I really did, but it felt a little too straight forward sometimes and depending on the placement to the seasons, it doesn’t fit a lot either. BUT that’s nitpicking.

So yeah, anime-wise, I don’t even know what I watched this year and what was last year. I just remember Akatsuki no Yona, which was fine I guess. Reverse-Harem for the win! Though it’s the first time I actually found the main love interest so unlikeable I ended up rooting for someone else completely even though I know who was going to be end-game. I’m honestly just sick of these man-ly, seducing men who play hard and are all like STRANGE honestly?? Like I wouldn’t want to be treated like he treats Yona. I ended up really liking her and the guy who looks like a girl (Yoon) together; I just loved how Yona influenced him and made him stand up for them on the boat and everything.

PERSONAL LIFE

 This year, especially the second half, has been quite hard on me. My family has been horrible the whole year and I finally feel like it gets to me. I’m just... tired. I’m just numb. I’m so good at pretending I’m happy --- even to myself. But it tired me out and I finally start to notice it. I’m selfish, I know that, but I couldn’t even get myself to be sad - and that’s... an excuse. I know that. I just don’t want to actually be sad. I wanna enjoy my life, I don’t wanna drag myself down, but where did get me?

Anyway, on a more friends-based level, I guess it went good? It was a good year. It was one where I found new friends, deepened some other friendships... and feel like I’ve lost another one... Maybe some of you noticed the time when I got together with a friend for a short amount of time because we both felt like it was where we wanted to go. It went good, really good - at least that’s what I thought. It was slow sure, but for the most part I realized that what I really want is someone close, not necessarily a romantic interest.

More or less out of the blue that ended per text message. And after that, I half fell apart and half felt like it was no problem. And then I really began to get socially paranoid. I was paranoid before, don’t get me wrong. But suddenly I felt like everyone (especially he) was avoiding me, like they pretended to like me. And always when I wanted to express it to him, it stopped. It was like he was playing with me, but I know it couldn’t have been that, because he couldn’t read my thoughts after all. It got better in like November/December too and I hope it stays that way, and maybe one year to do in 2018 is to actually address my feelings -- even if it may end up making everything even more awkward and maybe ruining how good we have gotten.

On the bright side, I’ve gotten closer to two other friends and have made like 3 new friends this year whom I hope to grow closer to in 2018. 

ALL IN ALL

I can’t say this has been the best year, especially the second half. There were too many self-doubts, too many crisis, too many thoughts I’d like to stop, too much school-stress and too much emotional garbage. But at the same time, there was many to balance it out. Most of that being friends, old and new ones.

What Anime Is Worth Watching This Season?

Hello Anime Internet! Welcome to another exciting passage of StumperPumper, the blog where “opinionated guy watches anime then talks about it.” So that you, the reader, can decide if you want to watch ‘said anime’ or not. This week we’re talking about the current Spring 2017 animes, and which ones in the pack are worth your time. Of course, I’ve reserved on writing this to give these series some time to develop before suggesting them to you, I don’t really believe in recommending after just one episode after all. So this is coming after watching about 4-5 episodes of each anime, so I can say with confidence that each of these animes has the potential to be really good this season. Now, let’s get on with it. 

Akashic Records of Bastard Magical Instructor

First, let’s cover some history. Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor was a Japanese light novel series written by Tarō Hitsuji (his only true brain child as of the current date) and illustrated by Kurone Mishima (the same artist behind the original character designs for KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!), which published into eight volumes (starting back in July of 2014). The manga adaptation, with art by Aosa Tsunemi, began serialization in Monthly Shōnen Ace back in March 26, 2015, and has been collected in two tankōbon volumes. Now, the anime television series adaptation by Liden Films (the people behind both Senyu and, one of my personal favorite short-animes, Sekko Boys) is out, and it premiered in April (2017). The main character Glen is voiced by Sōma Saitō, who recently voiced Adlet Mayer in Rokka no Yūsha back in 2015.

I had to put this anime up first because it’s truly the first one to catch me off guard this season. I went in with really low expectations after watching through Clockwork Planet and KADO: The Right Answer, which were both laughable at best in my opinion. On the one hand, we could blame my low expectations for making me think this animes so good, but I really don’t think that’s the case. What this anime has, that few other animes this season do, is CHARACTER. So far, I’ve seen very few animes demonstrate such capability in forming a great character. Glen, in this anime, certainly fits the bill though, he’s an incredible character thus far and we’ve barely just met. He’s so damned interesting, funny, and even mysterious. 

Unlike a lot of animes this one doesn’t just blow its load all over you on episode one. A little problem I’m calling Premature Anime Ejaculation, the symptoms being mainly that ‘said anime’ tries to introduce you to every character, the plot, the world, everything, all in episode one; all while blowing most of their budget to do so. Not only does this more or less not work because it’s overwhelming for the viewer, but it also creates a trend of series drop off where viewers often expect to become disenfranchised after episode one due to a loss in quality. But this anime is steady, episode one does what it’s meant to, and the series shows an obvious awareness that they have 12 episodes (at least) to develop the things the want too. This anime doesn’t rush, but rather strives to tackle things as they need to be addressed. 

Overall I think this anime merits watching this season, keep an eye on it. I think it’ll probably shape up to a 7/10 and be the most incredibly average anime of the season. It’s certainly no ERASED or Re: Zero, but I think it’s definitely as good as an anime like Joker Game from last year. I’ll be watching this myself, mostly because I love Glen and ship him hard with some of the other characters. It’s got some decent feels, and I definitely think the way the magic works in the anime is one of the coolest I’ve seen in a while. Watch for sure if you like magic, a bit of a harem, light fan-service, light comedy mixed with well animated action and fight scenes. Story seems to be shaping up nice too, and the soundtracks not too shabby. 

My Hero Academia

History time! My Hero Academia is a Japanese superhero manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi (author of another manga titles Oumagadoki Zoo, if you didn’t already know). It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump (the best-selling manga magazine, as well as one of the longest-running, in short “a damn good place to serialize”) since July 2014, and 12 volumes have been collected in tankōbon format. The series has been licensed for English-language release by Viz Media, and began serialization in their weekly digital manga anthology Weekly Shonen Jump (the English version of the magazine above) on February 9, 2015. The manga was adapted into an anime series; the first season aired from April 3 to June 26, 2016, and the second season premiered on April 1, 2017. The anime is directed by Kenji Nagasaki (who also directed No. 6, you’re welcome for that sweet bit of trivia btw), written by Yōsuke Kuroda (the screen-writer for other good animes: Honey and Clover, Highschool of the Dead, and Drifters), and features character designs by Yoshikiko Umakoshi (Mushi-Shi’s Character Designer, and Chief Animation Director) and music composed by Yuki Hayashi (who did music for both Death Parade (2015) a damn fine anime, and Kiznaiver in 2016). On top of that this comes from Studio Bones, one of my favorite studios who also produced an anime you may have heard of… Fullmetal Alchemist, and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (not to mention MANY other great animes). Essentially this animes got an all-star cast of stuff.

I almost hesitated to even mention this since it’s so damned obvious. My Hero Academia is back, and it’s obviously amazing. If you haven’t heard of this anime already then start watching now! I think it’s likely this will be on my list for anime of the year, because I’m a sucker for superhero shit. Regardless, this is great, the soundtrack is nice too. The animation is stellar. If I had to make a complaint I’d have to throw a fit about the ridiculous amount of flashbacks. I’m talking One Piece levels of flashbacks, like Christ. I get a certain amount of this because this is definitely for all age groups and it’s popular and a LOT of people are watching on simulcast. Which certainly calls for a certain amount of flashbackery to keep everyone on the same page, I’m just saying maybe not as much. 

The story is still cool, the massive amount of interesting Quirks is cool, the whole animes cool. I can’t exactly rate this series at all or even project a rating since it’s going for the long haul and probably has many more episodes to come. I think overall what makes this anime work so well is the setting of it all, coupled with really consistent quality animation. We all love the thought of super hero powers, and the variety of them in this show and how the society in the anime addresses it is just plain fun to watch. It feels like the Saturday morning cartoons from my youth. If you like shounens, superheros, action, or just a good ol’ lighthearted anime about a rising underdog then this is for you. 

Love Tyrant

A bit of history… Love Tyrant, also known as The Very Lovely Tyrant of Love, is a Japanese comedy manga series by Megane Mihoshi, serialized online since 2012 in Aplix's Comic Meteor website. It has been collected in seven tankōbon volumes. Most notable to me is the screen-writer Natsuko Takahashi (who wrote the screenplay for Bleach), she’s doing good work here. The main protagonist is voiced by Kenshō Ono, who voiced Slaine Troyard in Aldnoah.Zero and more recently Phichit Chulanont in Yuri!!! on Ice. You might notice the history on this is relatively small… That’s mostly due to the series being young and a lot of the people working on it are performing their specific functions for the first time. As such, the history isn’t as long. But this doesn’t detract from how well the whole crew is doing on this anime in the slightest.

I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned this on the blog but I consider myself a sort of connoisseur of quality harems. Frankly even I think the genre is sort of (overall) a lower quality type of anime. Mostly because it often substitutes good plot devices, character development, and delicate setting for male fantasies and petty fan-service tropes. That said, who fucking cares? I like to watch it, I fucking consume this garbage. Love Tyrant is obviously on my watch-list this season, it’s a hilarious harem. 

It parodies Deathnote and has a lot of references to other animes that make for a good laugh. Lots of Yandere quality in here too, which is always fun to watch. The plot is actually quite good too, especially considering it’s a harem. Its on the level of The World God Only Knows, in the manner that it has more to offer than typical tropes and fan-service. It’s unique and obvious in it’s sources for inspiration. It’s an honest anime, it doesn’t try to be anything it’s not. They’re very blatant when they do something “tropey” or parody another anime. It makes the anime unique rather than coming off as a copy or whatever. It’s just a good time to watch all around. 

In terms of characters there really isn’t much to be had, we’ve got a boy, a Tsundere, a Yandere, etc. Other than titles there’s not much CHARACTER to be had, typical harem. The soundtrack is whatever, the animation quality is sub-par. Overall the pacing seems rushed or otherwise a bit off in my opinion, I personally think Love Tyrant simply lends itself more to the manga medium. I think the pacing just got a bit off when moving from the literary context over to the cinematic context. It happens and isn’t a big deal, just a small gripe. This anime more than makes up for it in quality screen-writing, good voice acting, and a generous helping of comedy and over the top screenplay. I think it’s shaping up to be a solid 6 or 7 out of 10. Watch for sure if you LOVE harems or dating animes, parodies, comedies, or yandere nonsense. 

To conclude, that’s it for now. I haven’t had a chance to go through everything for this season yet, and I’ll make sure I post again if I find something I’d like to recommend. Celebrating mother's day by watching nategeo wild’s mothers day stuff. Honestly there are some things in them i don’t like ( namely certain words and phrases the narrator says or humans being in them at all ). Generally what i dislike about most animal/wildlife documentaries which i believe would be way better with no humans in them at all and no one narrating it. So while i sit here and watch this natgeo mother's day special i am also agitated . What is most annoying about these specials is the narrator who keeps comparing animal moms to human mom's/human parents. As well as how they keep going to humans who are in a line of work that is cruel to animals and they seem to be highlighting zoo’s. Zoo’s , aquariums , animal/marine parks and sanctuaries and other places are famous for all being cruel to animals. Not only are some of the animals taken from the wild and never able to go back , when animals are born in captivity and spend their whole lives in captivity they never know what it’s like to be in the wild and truly be a wild animal and live as they are suppose to and never know true happiness.Then you have to consider the terrible diet they are being fed and terrible healthcare they are given , and other factors that make those places all around terrible.Also another annoying thing about this one particular episode is how  the narrator says supposedly humans are related to primates ( which i have read and seen so many times it just gets more annoying ),which i don’t believe at all being how humans are so stupid evil cruel and monstrous that in my mind humans can’t register as being related to any awesome intelligent animals. Also animal moms are amazing , human moms however are not amazing and most if not all human moms are terrible moms/parents who should have never had children. Many human moms cannot raise their children right and do not actually love them . A lot of human moms will also abandon their children. Being that a lot of the human moms who should have never been having children are the people i refer to as being sheep they do a terrible job at being a mom and raise their kid to also be a sheep like their mom. Many of these sheep human moms incorrectly mate/breed because they are convinced humans are monogamous when in fact by nature humans are naturally promiscuous/polygamous . If more people bred the way humans are actually suppose to we would be raised in a harem situation or with a single-mother raising us and no father around. In both ways through the mom stays around , and does not abandon their child. My mom abandoned me and decided she wasn't going to love me and raise me right . So instead she left me with the dad i wasn't suppose to know or have unless it’s a harem situation and even after she left me she was still my favorite parent for years. I was stuck with dad but i feel like he certainly didn't raise me and i mostly raised myself. Now when i’m an adult she wants to try and be a mom when it’s kinda too late. If reincarnation and past lives is actually real then i hope if i’m born a human again in a next life that things will be better and that my life will be a breeze in comparison to how it is now. That i will have the dream mom i wish for and we will have a near perfect little family. Having a sibling or two wouldn't be bad just so long as we had mom , even being raised by mom and her sister or her mom would be great. A actually loving mom who does not abandon me and is my ideal mother is the one i dream about. Sometimes i wonder if the past lives/reincarnation stuff is real did i ask to be human? Did i ask to be born a human? If i did ask then why did i? I wish i was never born a human , i hate being a human in this life so why would i want to be human in the next one? Was i human in my past lives and is being human again now means it’s some sort of punishment for something i did as a human in a past life? Surely being human in the next life is a worse case scenario for me and ultimately i’d like to never be human again. Another thing that has been bothering me is these past lives readings and past lives stuff on this spiritual site called creepyhollows. They have these in your blood readings , means like you get to find that somewhere in your cruel evil monstrous human of a bloodline you might find their is a non-human entity you are “related” to. I don’t even believe humans are animals and that are humans are related to animals so of course i don’t believe something as cruel evil and monstrous as a human could be related to a non-human entity like a demon or etc. Or that a human could have been a non-human being in their past lives , it’s extremely silly to think of grandma as having been a horned owl in her past life or a turtle. With how evil cruel monstrous and stupid she is and how most ppl are i would say that is most likely impossible. Anyway , this is just thoughts and info plus the way i just spent mother's day which included me trying to sleep but failing because it was too noisy. I might watch some mom themed horror movies later if i feel in the mood.
