hi hi, i love your blog and really appreciate that you're trying to write for readers that often aren't written forā¤ this has very quickly become a comfort blog hehe. um, if requests are open, may i request some headcanons (or whatever you're comfortable writing honestly) about how tauriel would react to a gender-neutral fellow guard crushing on her? in a kind of sudden way, like they were just friends for a while, but then guard reader trips and falls flat into the realization that they really melt when she smiles or gets excited about things in a way that's not platonic. if you can't do the request, no worries; thanks for being awesomeāœØ
Oh hello! šŸ„ŗ Thank you so much; this really means a lot to me!!
I kind of put posting this off for a while because I have A Problem with Tauriel and that's what the studios did to her character so this is the AU of maybe Kiliel didn't happen or timeline-wise, we aren't there yet:
Tauriel x GN Reader
I think while Tauriel doesn't care about gender, she is kind of into the hair (re: KĆli) so the more hair (thickness, length, braiding patterns, etc.), the better.Ā
She is viciously protective of her partner. Like, feral overprotective. In the words of @sanisse's blog: KNIFE WIFE KNIFE WIFE KNIFE WIFE
I don't really hc that Tauriel understands romantic love or has had it before. I don't think she's young per se - I hc her in the same age range as Legolas, whichever that may be - but maybe sheltered in a militant way unintentionally. She's spent most of her life fighting Sauron's encroaching forces in her forest and her family is gone leaving her as a ward of the King. I see her as very single-focused on freeing her home and has a hard time relaxing and letting go for events like celebrations. In the movies, this leads to her interest re: sudden infatuation in KĆli. And while I do love them as a couple and think they're actually super sweet together, I don't think it allowed time for Tauriel to find love. And I think this is a big part of her personality.Ā
Much like the reader, Tauriel didn't realize she was in love because she was so focused on protecting the borders and the reader, that she dismissed any concern over their well-being during a fight as being normal and typical for them. I think only after they confess does Tauriel realize that there is another option for the type of relationship that they have. That maybe the sheer terror she has when her more than friend? gets cornered by spiders is different than the worry, but manageable stress she has when Legolas or Ferdan does.Ā
I know you meant it colloquially, but I think for their friendship, it would really make more sense for GN to legitimately fall while doing drills in the courtyard and feel that shift when Tauriel throws her head back and laughs at their misfortune and teases them over their battle prowess. It's odd, because this has happened a thousand times, but something about the way the autumn light reflects the exact shade of her hair in the setting sun or the way she smells like the leaves strewn about the forest floor. Maybe it was because for one of the first times since they joined the Guard, they were separated from each other while Tauriel was sent on a scouting mission to Dol Guldur and the thought that she might not come back, that she might be in combat without them was excruciating. Sure, the other Guardmembers are capable of protecting her, but are they the reader? No. It was a realization after a long time of having those feelings.Ā
And Tauriel is perceptive even if she's not experienced in relationships so she notices that the way you treat her has changed. She's also impulsive so after several months of you being more hesitant or focused on her, she confronts you and demands you tell her what's wrong. Of course, you don't expect Tauriel to reciprocate, which is good because I think she genuinely doesn't at first! Or rather, she's not sure what to do about the potentiality of a bonded relationship when she devotes herself to the Guard. I think it takes her a while before she realizes that her love for you is so instinctual that it makes more sense for you two to be together than not. I think it's a very gradual relationship, a true elven courtship over many years, as you change your typical ways of fitting together in a way that's more intimate. Also, as the years go on and forest grows darker, there is unfortunately less time spent in direct contact as you're both on patrol quite often. However, your Ć³sanwĆ« bond gets quite good over that time!Ā
In the elvish way of marriage, I think it's likely to happen either on the eve of a big battle or post a brutal battle in which you're both reminded of your mortality in violence and decide that you don't wish to be parted from each other that way again.

masterlist / ask/request
I think he knows his footprints
On the sidewalk
Lead to where I can't stop
Go there every night
If I knew anything at all, it was that Spencer knew how I felt about him. Iā€™d follow him blindly anywhere if he only asked me to. It was like I could constantly hear his footsteps, and I could see the prints everywhere that he walked, carpets and sidewalks and tile soaked with this thick black ink that called me to go where he goes. My coworkers teased that I often followed him around like a lost puppy dog; floating around behind him like a cartoon character with my hands clasped at my chest and hearts for eyes. Even if he knew and felt the same way as our coworkers did, he went out of his way to ensure I didnā€™t feel bad about it. He seemed quite content having me follow him around, hanging off of his every word. He never looked at me with disdain, or annoyance, but only with love and kindness as he always had. Little did I know the rest of the team teased him about as much as they teased me.Ā
I think he knows his hands around
A cold glass
Make me wanna know that body
Like it's mine
I could sit and watch him as we all sat at our favourite bar for hours. His longer fingers wrapped around a virtually untouched glass of whisky that Rossi had insisted he try, a single ice cube slowly melting and tainting the expensive liquid. The condensation wet the pads of his fingers and I found myself having to tear my eyes away from his hands before somebody noticed. It was shameless the way I stared sometimes, and it was a wonder that he hadnā€™t called me out yet. It was hard to keep the picture of his fingers and hands out of my mind; how they would feel on my body, the fabric of my clothes, my skin. A shiver tore through my body as I blinked twice, hard, trying to rid myself of the image.Ā
He got that boyish look that I like in a man
I am an architect, I'm drawing up the plans
ā€œYou need a refill?ā€Ā
His voice took me out of my cyclical thoughts of infatuation, and my head snapped up as Spencer moved to stand in front of me, towering over where I sat at the table. I glanced down at my nearly empty drink, feeling my face flush as he reached across me to pick it up. Looking back up at him, he watched me expectantly with raised eyebrows and I nodded fervently.Ā
ā€œCome with me,ā€ he added, holding both our drinks in his hands. I stood up quickly at his demand and immediately stumbled back slightly at our sudden proximity. My nose was practically pressed in between his collarbones, and the smell of his cologne intoxicated me as I took a clumsy step back. He quickly grabbed the fabric of my dress at my waist, steadying me with only two fingers and I felt a shiver run through me again. As we made our way to the bar, I couldnā€™t help but notice the small shadow of a smirk pass over his face as he led me away from the table.Ā
I admired him as I walked behind him. There was something about Spencer that was just so intoxicating. He looked so handsome in his sweater vest, the top few buttons of his shirt undone and a loose-fitting blazer with the sleeves rolled up made him look like the professor you have in university that you end up writing fan-fiction about. He was so young, so sweet and innocent, and yet had an air of dominance about him. And god, he was so tall.Ā
It's like I'm seventeen, nobody understands
No one understands
I felt like a school girl with a crush all over again. I watched him order my drink, leaning down to speak with the bartender over the loud music. His hand was still on my waist, his fingers moving slightly as he moved back to me while the bartender started on our drinks, reaching into his pocket with his other hand to grab a twenty dollar bill. I looked up at him, standing so close to me that I had to lean my head all the way back just to capture his full face in my brain.Ā
ā€œAre you having a good time?ā€ He asked absently, glancing down at my blushing face. I nodded again.
ā€œYeah,ā€ I replied. ā€œAre you?ā€
ā€œI always have a good time with you,ā€ Spencer said with a small smile, pinching my waist lightly where his hand sat. I squealed quietly, reaching down and wrapping my fingers around his to stop him from tickling me.Ā
ā€œShut up, Spence,ā€ I laughed, and I felt my heart stop in my chest as he maneuvered our hands so our fingers were locked together.Ā
ā€œIā€™m serious, Y/N,ā€ he replied, his tone changing suddenly.Ā
I looked up at him again, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He reached up again with his free hand and gently pressed his thumb into the crease between my brows, something he had done almost as long as we had known each other. I smiled slightly and tried to relax my brows, but I couldnā€™t shake the nervous feeling that had overcome my body at his sudden confession.Ā
We stared at each other in the flashing lights of the crowded bar, trying desperately to read each otherā€™s expressions. He was looking deep into my eyes, scanning for something, but I just wasnā€™t sure exactly what. My heart was beating so hard in my chest I was scared he could hear it over the thumping music.Ā
ā€œY/N, Iā€¦ā€ He started, interrupted by the bartender sliding our drinks towards him, and he quickly handed the guy the money he had been holding, clearing his throat and thanking him with a nod.Ā
ā€œYou what?ā€ I asked, tugging at the hem of his blazer urgently as he picked up our drinks. He leaned down until his mouth was near my ear. His hair tickled my face as it fell forward, having to tilt his head down quite far in order to reach my ear. I felt my breath catch in my throat.Ā
ā€œI know.ā€ He said finally, his lips brushing by earlobe and causing me to shiver for the third time that night.Ā
And I ain't gotta tell him
I think he knows
I think he knows
I think he knows
ā€œI need some air.ā€ I gasped, stepping back from him and nearly bumping into the people behind me. My mind was going a million miles a minute and I felt like I may faint. I wasnā€™t sure how much time had passed since he had said it, but it couldnā€™t have been long: he was still holding both of our drinks, head tilted towards me as he pulled back slightly with a concerned look on his face. I couldnā€™t bear to look at him any longer, and I turned quickly, scanning for the nearest escape. I spotted the exit to the small smokerā€™s pit in the corner of the bar and began making my way towards it as quickly as I could, ignoring Spencer calling my name behind me.Ā
It felt deafeningly hot, suffocating, and I couldnā€™t breathe until I broke outside into the fenced area full of people smoking cigarettes and vapes around me.Ā
Despite the harsh smell of tobacco around me, I was deeply relieved to take a deep, heaving breath of the cold outside air. To say I was terrified was an understatement. I knew exactly what Spencer had meant when he told me he knows. I had no clue what he meant exactly by it, if he felt the same way, if he was rejecting me, or why he had even decided to tell me at such an odd time.Ā
ā€œCan I bum one of those?ā€ I asked a woman as I made my way further into the pit, and she nodded, shaking one out of her pack and handing it to me.Ā
ā€œNeed a light?ā€ She asked, reaching up with her lighter to help me. I wasnā€™t a smoker by any means, but with the amount of stress I was feeling, and the fact that I had abandoned my alcoholic saviour in Spencerā€™s hand back inside, it was the best next thing.Ā
I knew Spencer wasnā€™t gonna let me just disappear and leave it alone, and I had approximately 30 seconds at most before he found me among the crowd of smokers.Ā
I took a long drag of the cigarette, trying not to scrunch my nose in distaste at the flavour. I closed my eyes and prayed somehow Spencer hadnā€™t seen me beeline out to this door and that somehow he wouldnā€™t find me.Ā
The thing I liked about smokers is that they never felt the need to stand around making conversation as they smoked. I stood in the peaceful quiet of the pit, feeling my body begin to calm down and my heart rate begin to level out.Ā
That is, until I saw the door across the pit push open harshly, banging against the outside of the bar and causing people to jump. I knew it was Spencer instantly, not only from the aggressive door action, but the fact that he towered over virtually everyone else outside. It wasnā€™t hard to spot his mussed brown hair over the other heads of the crowd, which meant it wouldnā€™t take him long to spot me with his vantage point either. I cursed under my breath and turned to face the fence enclosing the smokerā€™s pit, looking out over the crowded parking lot and wincing as I heard my name again.Ā
ā€œY/N!ā€ He exclaimed, his voice loud behind me now. I sighed slightly, flicking the ash off the cigarette and shaking my head, not turning around.Ā
ā€œSpencer, please donā€™t do this right now.ā€ I said quietly.Ā
ā€œAre you smoking?!ā€ He huffed loudly, grabbing my arm and gently tugging me to face him. ā€œY/N, what the hell?ā€Ā
I looked up at him with as blank of a face I could muster and threw the cigarette at our feet, stomping on it with my high-heeled foot while not breaking eye contact. He crossed his arms, watching me with an eyebrow raised.Ā
ā€œSeriously?ā€Ā
ā€œI donā€™t wanna talk, Spencer.ā€Ā
ā€œToo bad.ā€ He growled, pulling me again out of the fenced area and into the parking lot. He turned to face me finally, letting go of my arm.Ā
I could feel the emotions bubbling back up inside me, and I inwardly cursed him for finding me as I felt tears welling in my eyes.Ā
ā€œPlease, donā€™t.ā€ I begged quietly, my voice cracking. ā€œIā€™m embarrassed enough.ā€Ā
ā€œDonā€™t what?ā€ He asked, his tone and expression softening as he took in my face, taking a step towards me. I took a step back, crossing my arms over my body and trying to swallow away the lump in my throat. ā€œHey,ā€ he whispered.Ā
ā€œI canā€™tā€¦ I canā€™t handle you rejecting me. So, please. Just pretend you donā€™t know, okay? Please donā€™t say anything.ā€ It was hard to get the words out without sobbing, and I hugged myself tighter as I felt my chin quiver.Ā
ā€œY/N, my Godā€¦ā€ he whispered, stepping closer to me again. ā€œPlease, just listen, okay?ā€Ā
I was face-to-face with his chest as he got closer to me, and he reached up to press his thumb between my eyebrows again, looking down at me with sad eyes.Ā
ā€œI was not planning on rejecting you,ā€ he started. ā€œI-in fact, I, I was planning on telling you thatā€¦ I feel the same way.ā€ He relaxed his hand against my face, his palm cupping my cheek as he gently ran his thumb over my eyebrow, his fingers tickling my hair at the nape of my neck.Ā
When we get all alone
I'll make myself at home
And he'll want me to stay
ā€œI love you, Y/N. I have for so long.ā€ He was scanning my face, eyes desperate, as he whispered his confession. My tears were running down my cheeks, his hand against my face catching them as they fell.Ā
I couldnā€™t bring myself to say anything, and I was sure I would need a defibrillator to restart my heart after this interaction. My mouth was agape as I looked up at him with teary eyes, the dim lights in the parking lot shining down and making him look like an angel. He leaned down and brushed his lips against mine, so lightly I was sure I was imagining it, and I felt my eyes flutter closed as he wiped my tears off my face with his hand, sliding it back to tangle his fingers into my hair and tilting my head back ever so gently to gain better access as he towered over me. I lifted my feet slightly, my 4-inch heels coming off the ground as I stood on the balls of my feet, attempting to get closer to him as he deepened the kiss. His mouth was intoxicating, and I could taste the salt of my tears mingled into our kiss. He tasted so sweet, and there was a tinge of bitterness on his tongue, no doubt from the whisky that I would guess he had downed before coming out to find me. I hoped I didnā€™t taste too much like cigarettes.Ā
His other arm had snaked around my waist now, and he was holding me up on my tiptoes as he kissed me hungrily. I moved my hands from where they had been gripping onto his clothes for support and wrapped my arms around his neck fully, bringing us as close as I possibly could. He was grunting and moaning into my mouth, and his need for me was tangible, as mine was for him. Our kiss was full of years of built up repressed feelings, and it was enough to make me weak in the knees.Ā
Spencer was fully holding me up by the time we finally pulled apart for air, both gasping hard as he held me against him.Ā
ā€œSpencer,ā€ I whispered, my chest heaving against his in perfect time.Ā
ā€œI love you,ā€ he whispered, his voice raspy as he kissed the corner of my mouth, and then my cheek, and then my ear. ā€œI love you, god, so much.ā€Ā
ā€œI love you, Spence.ā€ I said softly, running my hands over his shoulders and down his chest.Ā
ā€œI know,ā€ he pressed a chaste kiss to my neck as I felt him smile against my skin.
So where we gonna go?
I whisper in the dark
Where we gonna go?
I think he knows

Adorably awkward when talking to their crush:
Tamaki, Haruhi
Tamaki
He deems everything you do as adorable beyond belief. Even a simple smile will bring heat to his cheeks, you donā€™t even have to try. Heā€™s able to talk to you just fine, that is, until you do something cute. Heā€™ll stumble on his words a bit, simultaneously losing his train of thought. Heā€™ll get so red, he brings life to the phrase ā€œas red as a tomato.ā€ And donā€™t attempt to purposefully tease/make him blush. Oh no. You might just stop his heart šŸ„ŗ
Haruhi
Dense as all that is holy. Might take her a while to realize that she even likes you, until one day your smile has suddenly managed to make her smile. All of a sudden sheā€™s happier, like sheā€™s on a high. Sheā€™ll find herself thinking of you more often than sheā€™d like to admit, until it just hits her like a ton of bricks. Now sheā€™s blushing at how close the both of you had gotten to each other, the brush of each otherā€™s hand sending chills down her spine. Would end up covering her face to avoid embarrassment, hiding the blush on her cheeks. And you teasing her about it would only make it worse. Normally, though, sheā€™s got a good grasp on her composure.
Smooth af when talking to their crush:
Kyoya, Kaoru, Hani
Kyoya
Heā€™s done his research. He knows everything there is to know about you, and heā€™ll be damned if he doesnā€™t use it to his advantage. Will ā€œcoincidentallyā€ show up where you are. Next thing you know, youā€™re out at this fancy restaurant, and you wonā€™t have even realized it was a date until after youā€™d gotten home. Heā€™ll keep you on your toes, providing you with just enough attention in order to keep you coming back for more, essentially bating you into approaching him. Itā€™s easier that way, and itā€™s cute humorous to watch. Would end up *inconspicuously* creating reasons for you to have to come to him.
ā€œOh you need my advice on this dilemma that I purposefully created? I guess I could spare some time to help you.ā€
Slick bastard.
Kaoru
Kaoru is suave, heā€™s not a shy stammering mess like most may portray him to be in headcanons. Heā€™s reserved, but when he likes someone, heā€™s hooked. Like the ā€œI daydream about you, chin in hand, mesmerized gaze from across the roomā€ kind of hooked. Rest assured that if he truly liked you, not just shallow infatuation, he would literally go out and get you. Heā€™ll plaster that cheeky smile, casually engage in conversation, and heā€™ll look at you with a sparkle in his eye. And the next thing you know, you look down and youā€™re both holding hands. Kaoru has game, and you will fall for him.
Hani
This guy doesnā€™t get flustered, at least not that Iā€™ve seen. Maybe once in a full moon heā€™ll blush, but normally heā€™s the one making you blush. And he enjoys it. He knows heā€™s cute. Heā€™ll tease you endlessly, although in an innocent way so that you canā€™t really call him out on it. And then heā€™ll play dumb. Heā€™ll make you chase him. Hani will reel you in, make it obvious that he likes you, then somehow youā€™ll end up being the one to ask him out.
Canā€™t form a cohesive sentence when talking to their crush:
Hikaru
This crush thing kind of just hits him all at once. One minute, he didnā€™t like you and you both were able to have normal, casual flowing conversations. The next, heā€™s a blundering mess with an array of overflowing emotions, ultimately screwing up his ability to form coherent sentences. He tries, but maybe half of the time he succeeds. He probably blushes at everything you do, silently cursing himself for even thinking you looked cute while picking up that pencil. How can someone look so cute picking up a pencil??? Yeah, youā€™ll need to help this boy out, heā€™s so down bad for you.
Looks up zodiac compatibility for their crush:
Tamaki, Kyoya, Hikaru
Tamaki
You already know. You already know this boy asked you when your birthday was, then proceeded to look up how compatible you both were in every aspect of life. And he takes it seriously too. Heā€™ll use that as a way to convince you that you both are just simply destined to be together.
ā€œThis article says our marriage would be 98% successful, I think thatā€™s a sign!ā€
ā€œThis says communication may be lacking :O Letā€™s spend the rest of the week getting to know each other, inside and out.ā€
ā€œWhat do you mean this stuff isnā€™t real? The stars donā€™t lie.ā€
Kyoya
Okay, hear me out. Kyoya knows everything about everything. He knows your favorite subject, what shows you watch, your preferred drink, miscellaneous facts about your life you probably donā€™t even remember. Might even know your blood type. Heā€™s not a stalker, heā€™s just up to date on everyone, and he likes to be informed. So youā€™d better believe if youā€™re someone heā€™s actually managed to develop feelings for, especially if heā€™s accepted those feelings (and managed to not end up in a state of denial) that heā€™s up to date on your birthday + what zodiac sign you are. And heā€™s checked the stars to see if you both align. For informational purposes of course.
Hikaru
He may have found himself awfully bored in his room one night and curiosity... kind of got the best of him? He doesnā€™t necessarily believe in that stuff, but he does find it humorous that you both are said to be ā€œstar-crossed lovers.ā€ It makes his heart flutter just thinking about it. Might absentmindedly mention it to Kaoru, only to be mildly embarrassed at how silly he sounds. Wouldnā€™t admit it, but he secretly hopes youā€™ve checked to see just how compatible you both are as well.
Thinks theyā€™re smooth but really isnā€™t with their crush:
Hikaru, Mori
Hikaru
Thinks heā€™s smooth. Smoother than the cream cheese you spread on your bagel. But then he opens his mouth and a bunch of nonsense comes pouring out. Flattering his guests, whom he has absolutely no romantic feelings for, has managed to give him this false narrative. His words donā€™t flow, his legs are weak, and he just spilled coffee all over you.
Mori
Yes, it is true that this tall glass of water doesnā€™t have to say much to make the girls go crazy. Since he doesnā€™t relay much through words, a very perceptive person is needed to understand what heā€™s feeling through his actions. And if he likes them enough, his actions will reveal his nervousness. A stumble here, a dropped item there. All is well until heā€™s actually around them. Itā€™s not that heā€™s not smooth, heā€™s just a little more clumsy than heā€™d like to admit. When he does speak, though, his words are simple but actually convey a lot.

Hellooo~ are requests open? I was going going to your masterlist a few days ago and I just canā€™t shake my mind off of Mammon courting MC and i thought of maybe asking you for the same hc with Lucifer šŸ„ŗ
Lucifer Courting a GN!MC
Realizing he loved you was a long process, at first he thought it was just a fondness for how well you were able to manage in a realm full of demons or your ability to tame the chaos that was his brothers.
It didnā€™t dawn on him just how infatuated he actually was with you until the late hours of the night when you became all he could think about.
It distracted him from his paperwork so much so that he decided to act on it, expressing his love in small ways hoping heā€™d earn the same in return.
Lucifer isnā€™t exactly known to express his feelings in public spaces so instead he started asking you to come to his office more often, even putting down his paperwork for a while to listen to vinyls and drink tea with you.
He began going out of his way to make sure he was the one you got information from instead of his brothers, such as texting you for breakfast or letting you know first when Lord Diavolo was holding another event.
The first born even began escorting you to class whenever he could before giving you a small nod and going to his office.
He wasnā€™t super obvious in his actions but the sudden shift in his behavior and the small lovestruck look on his face (despite his best efforts to hide it) definitely gave him away
Otherwise Lucifer kept his feelings to himself until you noticed how he kept sighing while doing his paperwork and asked what was on his mind.
He thought for a moment before turning to you and admitting, ā€œY/N I like you, way more than I thought was possible.ā€ He looked up to you searching your eyes for your response hoping that perhaps you felt the same.
Whether you did however was completely up to you and neither would he hold any grudges no matter your answer.

could you do a imagine with chishiya but the reader is so soft and smiley? pleaseešŸ„ŗšŸŒøāœØšŸ’ž
ā€œ CHRYSANTHEMUM ā€
Tumblr media
tw/cw - none.
Tumblr media
chishiya shuntaro blinked in surprise at seeing an unfamiliar face appear right in front of his, upside down with their legs hanging from the tree's branch. their hair stuck out as they blinked at him, a soft smile stretching their lips.
"have you seen a cat anywhere?" they asked, tilting their head towards the side.
it was not what he was expecting, but then again he rarely encountered students hanging from trees, looking for cats no less. he looked back down at his book, putting his answer simply, "no."
"are you sure? she sticks out like a sore thumb, and i swore i saw her around here." they pressed on, glancing around as their hair swished along with the movement.
"i haven't seen your stupid cat." he replied, getting irritated at the fact that they wouldn't stop bothering him.
they giggled, like his insult was funny, "she is a little slow, maybe that's why i couldn't find her in the common room earlier. she's always getting lost."
chishiya just huffed in response, turning the page in his book. maybe if he pretended they weren't there they'd leave him alone.
quickly they reached up and flipped over so their legs dangled over the grass. they then released their grip and dropped to the ground, brushing the green leaves that had accumulated from their clothes. it was now that chishiya noticed the yellow tie peeking out from under their vest, as well as the small crest of their house. of course this stranger was a hufflepuff, nothing else could explain the strange happiness of those sorted into the blindingly bright colored theme. the same happiness that was slowly getting on his nerves.
and unfortunately they didn't leave. instead they crouched down, eyes scanning the book in his hand, "oh! what are you reading?" they leaned in closer and instinctively chishiya leaned back, not liking the sudden close proximity.
"none of your business." he muttered.
they pucker their lips out in a pout, but very quickly their attention was lost on him and instead on the bed of flowers right next to the tree. their eyes brighten as they hop over his legs, crouching down once more and peering intently at the pink petals.
chishiya internally rolled his eyes at their strange infatuation with the plant. another thing about hufflepuffs was that they had this weird obsession with plants. maybe because the head of their house was the herbology teacher and he was sure their common room was covered with the stuff. but what was the point? it was going to die anyways, squished or picked by a student. why care for something that was going to perish in a couple days time? quickly he went back to reading his book, deciding to ignore this stranger's presence.
they had other plans however as he could feel their fingers brush against his ears, quickly retreating their hands back just as quick as they had been there. he glared at them, his own fingers unconsciously reaching up to touch where they had been.
he blinked in surprise at feeling the soft petals of a flower, stem tucked behind his ear and keeping his hair back from his face.
"it's a chrysanthemum. they represent happiness. really pretty right?" they gave a soft smile, waiting for him to agree he was sure.
he turned away. he didn't want to give them what they thought they'd get out of him, "i don't care about flowers or their meanings." but still, despite his words he found himself keeping the plant there. only because his hair wasn't in his face anymore.
they laughed once more, not at all phased by his harsh tone, "take good care of it okay?" they pushed themselves up, giving chishiya a short wave, "i'll see you around!"
with that they turned and began running through the grass, soft giggles and an easy going expression permanent on their face. chishiya didn't understand how someone could be so happy, so lively like that. was it just a hufflepuff thing? well, he didn't care, as long as they stayed far away from him from now on and stopped climbing the trees he would sit under.
chishiya rarely ever ran late for anything. he made sure he was punctual, despite not caring about the classes that he attended. it was more like something to keep his mind busy, because god forbid he was left with nothing to do.
but of course his teacher had asked him to bring something to another staff member, and of course he had never even heard of the professor's name. so of course he didn't know where the classroom was, resulting in him being lost.
what could you expect? it was a large castle, with stairs always moving and the paintings and ghosts he encountered were no help, despite him asking as nicely as humanly possible.
after yet another ghost had ignore him he let out another air of frustration, walking down the hall that looked just as similar as the one he passed through just a couple minutes before. he was close to giving up when he collided with something, stumbling back and blinking at the figure he had run into.
they also blinked in surprise until their eyes widened in recognition, smile stretching their lips as they pointed at him, "oh! it's you from before!"
he reached out and pushed their hand down, "it's rude to point at people."
this time their smile was apologetic, instead using their hand to rub the back of their neck bashfully, "ah, sorry." their eyes glanced over his body, clearly looking for something, "did you keep the flower?"
he thought back to the pink petal that had clipped his hair back a couple weeks ago, "no."
"aw really? well, it probably died huh? maybe next time i should cast a spell to make it last longer." they thought out loud.
"i don't want your flowers." he replied bluntly, turning away and walking down the hall.
they followed after him however, hands clasped behind their back, "but it did something! look! you seem happier now." they reached over and pinched both his cheeks, tugging it upwards into a smile.
he swatted their hands away, "don't touch me."
they laughed softly, once more clasping their hands back together, "ah, alright then," they were silent for a moment before their face brightened, and for a moment chishiya was scared of the stupid thing that they were about to speak, "say, let's be friends!"
very stupid indeed. he didn't understand why hufflepuffs were so friendly. didn't they realize that some people'd rather be left alone? "no."
"come on! i really want a slytherin friend. you know what they say, our houses go really good together." they pressed on, causing chishiya to roll his eyes in annoyance.
"no one says that." he replied. it was true. slytherins were known for their bad reputation after all, and so many of the other students tended to stay away. and there was no point in someone so lively to become friends with someone like him.
"then let's prove it to them! that hufflepuffs and slytherins can be good friends!" they stopped in front of him, preventing him from continuing on in his path.
as he stared at their stupid smile chishiya remembered why he had always stayed away from the honey badger house. they could be so annoying, and way too much to handle. and so he brushed past them without another word, not noticing that somehow he had made it to where he needed to be. he didn't even realize where he was going, he was just trying to get away from them after all. but he pushed the thought away and entered the classroom, leaving them behind the door.
one of the only things chishiya liked about hogwarts was the food there.
it always appeared during the same time everyday, a feast that he could appreciate. it was something he looked forward to in the mornings especially, where he could get there extra early and avoid running into anyone that he didn't feel like talking to, enough to eat his food in peace and go to class.
but for some reason his alarm had gone off late that day, and so he didn't get to enjoy the quiet morning with his tea and bread, nor did he get to eat at all actually. he had run late enough that as punishment his teacher didn't allow him to go to lunch without cleaning the cupboard with the books for class and washing the potion bottles until there wasn't a speck of dust on them.
he wouldn't have minded it he wasn't so hungry, stomach rumbling every second to prove his point. really he could just leave, his teacher wasn't even around anymore, but he knew the consequences of leaving things half done. and his teacher wasn't one to bend the rules no matter how good his grades were.
hands dried the glass bottle as he sat in silence, the only sound being the ticking clock and the birds from the open window. a new sound entered his ears however, and he turned to see a mess of hair and that familiar yellow tie, head peeking into the room before settling on him. they smiled, before opening the door fully and clicking it closed, skipping over to where he sat.
"what are you doing here. you're missing lunch." he mumbled, going back to his work.
they ignored him however, instead placing down a small box right in front of him. he glanced up at them curiously, and they waited for him to open it. when he realized they weren't going to leave he sighed before putting down the glass bottle and removing the lid, surprised to see the abundance of food tucked neatly into the container.
"i noticed you weren't at breakfast today so i figured you'd be hungry." they explained, smile growing wider.
he pushed the box away, "i didn't ask you to do this."
"i know. i just wanted to is all." they pushed it back before walking around the table to stand by him, their sweet flowery scent filling his senses as they began drying the rest of the bottles, humming a soft tune.
"stop that." he muttered, trying to grab back the potion bottles and the rag. he hated having other people help him, especially when he didn't ask for it.
instead they turned so he couldn't grab the materials from where he was seated, "come on, just eat your food. i won't tell professor that i helped alright? i'll be gone as quickly as i was here."
he wanted to argue further but before he could speak they had shoved a piece of bread into his mouth, successfully shutting him up. he glared at them but they just smiled, resuming the cleaning. chishiya grumbled but despite his earlier thoughts of hating receiving help his stomach began to grumble once more. he really was hungry, and the food his smelled so good. he figured, just this once, he'd let them. and so he began eating, finally easing the hunger that had bothered him all day. he also watched silently as they put away the books and organized the potion bottles, all while humming that soft tune that tickled his ears quite nicely. he hadn't heard it before, but their voice was soft and quiet enough that it didn't bother him too much, and so he let them finish as he ate his food.
hogwarts had many places that was good for hiding.
it was perfect for chishiya really, he enjoyed being alone and although no one really bothered him in the common room there were times when the 1st and 2nd years would get rowdy, and as his last year at hogwarts he wanted things to just go by quietly. no interruptions and most importantly peace and quiet.
so he found himself wandering the halls more often than not, mainly during the night and avoiding any teachers on night patrol. luckily he was good at avoiding them, and tonight was one of those nights as he walked down the long corridors, the only sound being his feet taking each step and the flickering fire of the torches. despite modern technology they kept a lot of the old decorations, and he wasn't necessarily complaining since it made it easier to avoid being caught in the dark past bedtime hours.
he turned the corner, brown eyes watching the courtyard that usually buzzed with activity during the daytime. it was quiet this time, just the soft blowing of the trees from the wind and the small creaking of crickets. he would've turned his direction there if it wasn't for the sight of a shadow just across, holding up their wand with the light spell.
quickly and quietly he opened one of the doors, closing it and waiting with a beating heart for the footsteps to disappear. when they did, he let out a small breath in relief, turning around to see which room he had found himself in.
he blinked in surprise at seeing the hufflepuff here, hair thick with dirt and face covered in the same substance. they pushed their headphones down to rest on their shoulders, lowering the water can held in their grasp.
and of course, they greeted him with a soft smile, giving a small wave as well.
chishiya didn't feel like asking what they were doing here. the answer was pretty obvious, and he didn't want to stay longer than necessary. he gave them a short nod in acknowledgement, about to turn when he heard the footsteps again. quietly he stepped back towards them, watching the door and hoping that they'd leave.
"i'm surprised you're still awake." they whispered softly, a small giggle escaping their lips.
"can't sleep." he bluntly replied, turning back around to look at them.
they reached up and brushed their hands against their cheek, probably to wipe the sweat that had gathered there but really it only put more dirt on their face. laughable really.
"the flowers are going to bloom soon," they spoke, holding up their watering can and tipping it over so the crystal clear liquid washed over the soil, darkening all that was touched, "not many of the students are good at keeping them healthy, and our professor has a lot of other ones to take care of. so i come here during the night to help out from time to time."
chishiya didn't remember asking about why they were here, but he didn't bother telling them that. instead he directed his attention to look around the small greenhouse, the fresh scent of soil and rainwater and the flowery scent that they always wore. that explained why whenever they crossed paths he would smell it.
he looked back down at feeling them tug at his sleeve, bringing him to crouch down right beside them. he gave them a weird look before glancing at one of the pots, realizing that slowly the stem was peeking out of the soil. it continued to grow until it bloomed, petals of a deep red forming. even more surprisingly the flower began to sway, almost like a small dance.
they laughed in excitement at the small performance, giving him another look to gauze his reaction.
"i don't think they're supposed to grow that fast." he said. he wasn't really experienced in herbology, he much preferred defense against the dark arts class material, but even through his lack of knowledge he had never seen a flower grow so quickly.
"well they're magic of course," they laughed softly, before leaning forward and inspecting the other pots that remained blank, "looks like none of the others will bloom tonight. so consider this your lucky day."
once more they smiled, face lit up and basking in the soft moonlight that peeked through the leaves above and the window panes. he was starting to grow used to their constant energy, although the dark of night didn't do those soft smiles any justice.
quickly he turned away, bothered at the thought that had entered his mind, "right." without another word he went back towards the door, not even checking if the professor was still nearby before leaving them alone in the greenhouse, with only the plants and stars as company.
eventually the soft colors of autumn turned to winter, where many things died under the harsh conditions and the cold came to replace the heat. with harsh winds and snowfall several feet deep, everything slow and boring and everything chishiya hated.
and with those skies came the school trip, to a town not far over. chishiya usually opted out of the annual field trip, not caring for it and plus there was too many possibilities of running into people he knew. but alas, despite arguments his father had still signed that slip, forcing him to join his classmates in the cold and in an unknown area.
he trudged through the snow covered paths, hating the amount of students laughing and bumping into him as he walked. the candy store was too crowded, so he didn't go there despite wanting a strawberry based treat and the store with toys was not really to his liking, despite the pranks that he could use. if anything he'd rather use hexes and curses to punish those 'for fun' as they called it. it was much more exciting that way.
so he continued onward, until he spotted a familiar head peeking through the crowd, bundled up nicely in a yellow scarf and dressed in their black robes. without thinking he walked closer to them, confirming that it really was who he had expected it to be.
they turned around and smiled upon seeing him, bright and warm enough to melt the snow that fell around them. he wished it would, he didn't like the cold, especially with how hard it was snowing right now. they must have noticed his discomfort because they grabbed his hand and tugged him through the crowd, with very little complaints coming from his mouth much to his surprise before they entered a small restaurant. it was crowded with students from school, exactly what he was trying to avoid but before he could actually complain this time they were already dragging him to a booth, successfully obscuring any weird stares that they were receiving.
they sat across from him, resting their cheek in the palm of their hand, "i didn't think you liked these sort of events."
"i don't." he was quick to reply, still upset at having been dragged here by the teachers.
they just laughed at his bluntness, reaching forward and tapping the menu in front of him, "the butterbeer is really good. have you ever had any?"
brown eyes glance down at the picture, not recognizing it, "i've never been here before."
their eyes widened, excitement buzzing in their bones, "oh! you should definitely try it. here, i'll order for us."
so after much small talk with mostly them doing the talking their drinks arrived, two glasses set in front of the two. excitedly they reached forward and took a sip, just as quickly leaning back and fanning their tongue as the beverage was too hot.
chishiya could feel a small laugh rumble in his throat before taking a sip himself, quite liking the sweet taste. believe it or not the male had a sweet tooth, and the drink warmed his body like the tea he enjoyed sipping. it definitely helped rival the cold temperatures from outside.
he watched as they took another sip, this time blowing on it softly before doing so. and once again chishiya could feel the laugh threatening to burst from his mouth at seeing the sweet foam cover their upper lips, them clearly oblivious to what had happened.
they cocked their head to the side, eyes looking at him curiously, "what?"
quickly he cleared his throat, masking the amusement on his face, "nothing."
they narrowed their eyes at him before reaching a gloved hand up towards their lips. he could tell they had grown embarrassed as they looked away, shifting their body away from him as they took another sip.
eventually they got up and left, walking around the small town. chishiya wasn't sure why he continued to follow them around, he liked being alone after all. but for some reason they seemed to be the only person he could withstand despite the lingering irritation he felt being around them. well, with a personality like that he was sure he'd always be annoyed, but he had grown to tolerate it over the course of their 7th year together.
he paused when they stopped in the middle of the bridge, hands gripping the side as they looked up towards the sky. he walked back so he stood right beside them, watching as the soft flakes of snow hit their nose and settled on their lashes. that smile, the one they always wore was of course present on their face, gloved hand extended out towards the fallen flakes and trying to catch them in their hands. they then extended out their tongue, clapping excitedly when one had landed on the appendage and they turned towards him, smile even brighter than before. and once again chishiya felt like the expression, it could melt down even the coldest of places, ones that had never even known what warmth had felt like before.
that night he sat near his window, the students sharing the dorm with him fast asleep as he was leaning against the cool glass. in his hands lay a small flower, beyond wilted from the many months that it had been taken from its place in the ground. but despite that, he kept it. delicate and still pretty in his eyes. perhaps because it reminded him of the day he met that strange hufflepuff, the one who never stopped smiling and was way too soft for someone like him. who pushed people away and preferred to be alone. but despite that they continued to stick around, and was even the same person who had warmed the coldness of his heart.
even more surprisingly he felt himself smile, closing his palms over the flower and leaning his head back against the wall. he let himself think about them, enjoying how they contradicted the harsh cold of winter with their soft smiles and their warm gaze, that melted his entire being as if it was still summer, with green grass and chrysanthemum flowers.

top five chonces books šŸ’›
screams šŸ˜‚
1 - high school story + class act - i don't think i need to explain it further than "i am in love with michael harrison and ajay bhandari". look, it's a fun, light-hearted, no high stakes book (the most intense thing being the whole isa chase in book 2) i have a deep love for the app "high school story" (and hollywood u, still kinda salty that got turned into rcd but anyways) it's just fun. my theatre children are close to my heart lol
2 - the royal romance series - don't get me wrong, i'm aware they're milking this cow for all it's worth, but my god, i love liam x mc. maybe it's because i've poured so much time and effort into them, but ugh, love them. and then there's the whole friend group (olivia ily) and how they interact with one another feels believable. sure, i wish that they'd stop making each book practically the same with "mc and co. go around to the different kingdoms to woo them over, have a ball and then have a cliffhanger ending" (trr3 withstanding) and i wish that liam would use his backbone more but it's still near and dear to me
3 - a very scandalous proposal - look. i had vip, and i spent most of that time replaying old books/catching up on books that were coming out bc i couldn't be bothered to play them. but then i played the vip books and i wished i had played them earlier (hot couture not so much but eh) simon/ava x mc are adorable and real. it's not a sudden infatuation with mc and their progression feels natural (the end of chapter 1 excluded lol) + the fact that he hears mc out after the scandal breaks instead of just dismissing her? love that
4 - perfect match - damien nazario šŸ„ŗ honestly didn't think i'd like this series as much as i did. i only originally started playing it bc my friend chloe wanted someone to talk about it with, and i loved it. i thought that bc hayden was meant to be mc's literal perfect match, i was gonna dislike him bc i thought he'd be so forced and become annoying, but they worked, so well. and then damien was an option, and i was 100% ready to drop hayden (fjsjs sorry ily) and then sloane! the fact that it's a healthy poly book bumped it up a bit too lol but they all work well together and ugh nadia and steve šŸ„ŗšŸ„ŗšŸ„ŗ
5 - ms. match - ...yes, another vip book, but the romance/tension between jack/jaqueline and mc? give me more of that. the "forbidden love" aspect of it? more pls (you're thrown into a matchmaker job + the competition for ceo and you're not allowed to date coworkers) yes, i'm aware i sound like a broken record, but the romance between these two is so goooooood šŸ„ŗ the big fight and make up had me šŸ„ŗ they're so good with each other. the sarcasm and banter? ugh so goooood
