I've been doing a lot of thinking on Lady Jane Hatt bc due to Luna and Oscar being actively raised by Sir Topham Hatt and his wife, she becomes so much more prominent in this au and like. Oh my god I love her??? I have very little memory of her actual canon self but the version I've built of her for this au is so good to me. She's a wonderful wife and mother, she lives a comfortable life thanks to her husband's job, but when she's introduced to her two interdimensional babies (though she doesn't know that her adopted daughter is from another dimension just yet, seeing as Luz/Luna is human) she goes through this whole thing of like. She's already watched two of her kids grow up and had to let go, but she's not going to abandon these babies, they're hers now, and she's their mom now. Jane has had brief conversations with the engines sometimes, with Gordon most of those times, solemn ones that happen late at night or early in the evening. Gordon would wheesh a bit of steam, Jane is standing next to him in a long dress that flows in the wind. She's watching Oscar play around with her grandkids. "You're not going to be able to keep him forever." Gordon mumbles. "I already know that children grow up, Gordon." She speaks back in just as low of a voice. "No, I mean...Jane, just look at him. He's not human. He's not of our world. He's not of the magical places we know. He belongs somewhere else..." Gordon sighs. "I know he does. But he's not there now. He's here. Unless his family somehow finds a way to get here, he is my son. And he'll stay on this island if he so pleases." Jane stiffens as she speaks, but she can't fight off the nagging feeling that Gordon is right.

Oscar has an impeccable memory of when he was a newborn, not perfect, but he remembers many tiny details. He remembers hatching from an egg on the night of a full moon, he remembers looking up and seeing a strange symbol that partially blocked said moon, he remembers bits and pieces of his first few days of life, barely being able to see and being care for by a stone creature. He remembers the roar of his father. He can just barely remember the gentle whispers of a feminine voice that can only be assumed to be his mother's voice. He's a strange little creature from another world, he was important to someone, and who knows what he'll look like when he grows up? How big he'll be? And what if his family does come looking for him?

It's a lot for her to handle, so she puts it out of her mind the best that she can. Oscar may have fur and horns and a tail and a skull for a head, but he's her son. Whatever his old name was and wherever his parents are doesn't matter now, what matters to her is the present, what matters to her is him.

Omg I loved this one!! buckle up, there's a lot of little details and a lot to point out

I suspected we might not get an update on Luz and the rest of the owl house members and the suspense there is killing me ngl...

I can already see it, both groups meet and both are like "we have SO much to tell you you're not gonna believe this-"

anyways, baby Willow and baby Gus my beloveds

I love their relationship. they were there for each other before anyone else was, and you can see how deeply they care for one another

Gus is a scary good illusionist, it must be frightening to have that happen

ahh good ol' breathing exercises, always worth a shot

I ADORE that Bump allows more kids to try multi track magic, and Matt got into illusion magic! aww

Among Luz's messages was "don't scare him(them?) away" I think she was referring to Hunter. it's sweet she took the time to write that, but god I hope she's safe

I enjoyed Willow and Amity's plot as well! Amity trying to protect her because he values having her back vs Willow wanting her to see that she is strong and can fight alongside her!

it's both sweet and heartbreaking that 1) he thought of hexside as a safe place to hide and 2) he's wearing the Flyer Derby outfit. he really had a good time being a normal kid for a day :')

Adrian. I like his style but I did NOT buy his act. How horrifying that he was tricking students into getting sigils by pretending he was helping them not get sigils. messed up

they really made him a pretentious director. I love it. both he and Terra are scary and full of personality, very fun antagonists to see

Loved the concept of a trippy labyrinth of familiar places too

once again Hunter parallels another character. Gus is trusting by nature, which has led to him getting hurt, while Hunter grew up in a competitive, hostile environment where the only person he trusted blindly ended up being a monster. He is being extra cautious. But Gus won't hurt him

God, Belos sent a search party and is pretending like he's all worried. he hasn't told anyone he ran away. but we know what'll happen if he goes back to the castle *shudders*

the acting and animation for the panic attack, the breathing and the hesitation were done with a lot of care. I also like that it's in "Gus' room"

I love how this episode demonstrates how illusions isnt just about funny conjured images. Its about altering the perspective of what you see around you and also performance

I wish the illusionist coven head wasnt a little bastard man, but we had to check fruity and theater kid villain off our list

Gotta love Gus knowing how to make glyphs and just pulling it out while Hunter distracts them. Luz's influence from Through The Looking Glass Ruins when she gave him glyphs and he didnt know which was which but now he KNOWS the fire one

Hunter literally shaking when they question why he isnt in uniform 🥺 baby is so scared

The pictures on Gus' bedroom wall, the one with Matholomule, my heart cant take it

Hunter not knowing what a high five is and flinching, no baby it's a good thing dont worry

Also the fact that fake Willow was immediately distrustful of Hunter but real Willow immediately stood up for him

Hunter has only known Willow for a like half a day but he (in contrast with Amity which I find interesting) KNOWS this girl isnt one to be frightened easily

The little blush when he thought he saw Willow, he down bad

Another little detail is fake Willow calling Gus "Augustus" because Gus was the "human nickname" Luz gave him

"That's not the captain" Hunter still calling Willow captain

"Have you ever seen her play flyer derby, theres no way she'd be afraid of me" and Gus being like oh wait he right

"The note inside the note" dysywyducjfu this man

Hunter immediately freezing at the Belos illusion, like noooo the baby is traumatized dont do that!

Honestly the whole fight scene is awesome, everyone helping eachother. Emira healing, Amity and Willow combo, just Bump fighting at all looks awesome.

"Are you listening? This is my monologue" little theater kid man, as a theater kid myself this hits home

"I was looking for the gaulderstones, they'd make great gifts for the emperor" flashbacks to grimwalkers needing a gaulderstone for the heart & power source

"Oh dont be so dramatic" says the drama queen

Oh, Hunter having to see his worst memories dont double traumatise him. I noticed while most of them were from Hollow Mind there was also the one from Any Sport In a Storm, when Willow and the others are locked in a jail cell.

Hunter trying to do the breathing exercise again and it whistling when he exhales because of his lil tooth gap. He needs to be protected

Also Hunter doesnt know what a hug is but he is a little blushy boy, even his ears!

Also Bumps "then you better get started", they better set Hunter up with an actual proper room in the school

So Hexide and it's students are gonna be an active part in the rebellion now huh

This episode was amazing! Even the side characters with barely a few lines like Skara and Matholomule (still dont know how to spell his name) were very in character and entertaining. The episode focused on the school, Amity & Willow's friendship, Gus, Hunter's situation and it makes it work! Hunter now having a safe place at Hexide, my little heart cant take it. Definitely one of my favourite episodes.

Keeping Up A-fear-ance's Thoughts

I finished writing this shortly after 3 am after watching the new episode like three times because I simply had too much energy about it and I have so many thoughts because I simply live for clawthornes and also I tried to break it up with more photos this time sorry not sorry if it's a lot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

YOUNG EDA!! let me just say I am quite a fan of opening with a flashback like we've done here and the last episode

anyways we've only really seen young Eda as a wild and confident and happy little child so I appreciate seeing this side of her with the anxiety and fear she's feeling here. I love seeing what the curse stuff was like for her as a kid

I'm guessing this is their backyard or just some woods behind their house?? wonder if the portal was placed there by another elder family member.

lmao I can't even begin to imagine what small Eda experiencing the human realm was like for the first time

ok I side with Eda here more than Luz and Lilith. just because Luz misses her mother, or Lilith hasn’t seen their mom in so long doesn’t mean Eda has to feel all grateful for the presence of Gwen, especially if the woman has caused her a lot of trouble over the years

I feel like the fact that its actually both Lilith and Gwendolyn have spent their whole lives dedicated to trying to find a cure could probably have held some kind of weight on Eda at some point. Even though she shouldn't feel guilty or responsible for that, I still feel like it's gotta suck knowing these people have spent so much time on something you know is likely never gonna happen, all for you.
