Random thoughts/Au ideas I had:

Rev and Rip are aliens who came to Acmetropolis before invasion of their spices, and the meteor could happen, and Tech is a scientist along with Mallory studying Rev and unaware Rip even exists. Tech and Rev later fall in love because I can't help but make them a thing- (I probably draw this one at some point.)

Yandere/Crazed Tech because I can't help but think if WB did make Loonatics more like Looney Tunes and have had Tech obsessed with Rev in some way I think I would be more "Holy shit I'm obsessed with you and love you" type of way instead of the "I'm going to eat you" type of way. Plus, Tech is kind of a cannibal. (I'm not sure if he ate someone like Ace or Lexi it accounts as cannibalism so-)

Ace gets deer antlers after the meteor crashes, and now he looks like a jackalope, or he gets then after "The Wrold Is My Circus" and Tech just can't fix it for unknown reasons

Lexi gets stranded on Apocalypso when she was a baby and raised by the Apocazons with Queen Athena as her adoupted mother, meaning once the meteor hits she was able to keep her plant powers.

There aren't enough Slam writings out there for loonatics, so how about something with him and breakfast!

Slam normally is a bit hard to write because normally I’m a dialogue heavy person and Slam not much for dialogue. 

That said, I like how this one came out.

It was one of those days that Slam was up early. He wasn't normally a early riser but today was just one of those days. Even if he tried to go back to sleep it just was not happening at all. He was up for the day. So he decided today was a good morning to make breakfast for the rest of the team.

Slam was better at making breakfast then some people who did not know him assumed. Besides liking food, he could cook it very well too.

It was a side effect of after leaving wrestling. When he would wrestle he had a certain diet he needed to follow for staying at the right health and weight for wrestling. Now he was a bit more lax with his diet. And part of that had included getting back into cooking.

Slam had made breakfast for the team before. More often it was more a fend for yourself plan when it came to breakfast. Dinner was where at least two of the team members would be scheduled to handle dinner on certain nights.

That said, tonight was not a Slam making dinner night so he knew cooking anything today would come as a pleasant surprise this morning.

Rev was already up, every bit a early bird, getting orange juice from the kitchen, when Slam entered the kitchen.

Most roadrunners walked a line when it came to sugar. Too much sugar for a normal roadrunner lead to being very anxious and getting twitches, so not suggested to eat too much of it for them. But Rev's high metabolism due to his even faster then a normal roadrunner's super speed did much better at handling sugar. So the sugar in orange juice was not a issue for him.

Slam knew Ace had been in here too, given the mug with the rabbit pattern on it that Ace had gotten as a joke gift one year during a gift exchange but unironically loved, was in the sink. There was the slightest drops of coffee still left in the bottom of the mug.

Knowing Ace he was going over some mission based information or training. He would probably be busy with it for a couple of hours. Plenty of time.

Rev noticed Slam's presence and smiled.

"Hey Slam! Didn't expect to see you up so early." Rev said.

Slam grunted back in greeting.

Rev downed the rest of the orange juice in the glass. As he did Slam started going through the cupboards, gathering pancake ingredients and a pan. With these things and the amount of ingredients ,Rev caught on to what Slam's plans were for the morning.

"Group breakfast day? That's great! I love your cooking Do you need any help?" Rev asked.

Slam shook his head.

"You want to do it yourself? Gotcha. I'll go leave you to it then." Rev said.

Rev sped out of the kitchen. Now left in the kitchen alone, Slam set to starting on breakfast.

The choices for what to make for breakfast were many but Slam quickly settled on pancakes. 

Pancakes were a good choice for breakfast because they were simple enough to make but also versatile in what he put in them. Some of the team members had their own preferences when it came to how their pancakes were. Less picky of the group when it came to pancakes were honestly Tech and Slam himself. Duck could be a bit demanding but not beyond unreasonable thankfully. Just a little picky.

Everyone else did have their preferences but they were as simple of adding in different ingredients.

Slam kept it all in mind as he cooked in a tornado of moment around the kitchen.

Two hours later, as Slam had guessed, Ace was done was training and walked into the kitchen, probably told about breakfast by Rev. Most of the others woke up not too much later. Duck was the only one not present at the moment, still in bed. That was fairly normal.

Duck if allowed was not one to wake up in single digit hours. Slam knew this about him. So ahead of time he had put a sizeable stack of pancakes aside and set them on a food warmer, to keep them at the perfect eating temperature.

Everyone else gathered around the table.

"Slam made breakfast today? Loving that." Lexi said, taking her seat.

Everyone else agreed. Tech even looked up from a reading tablet he had brought to the table as he was one of those who read while he ate. 

Once everyone was settle Slam set everyone's pancakes in front of them.

Lexi's have blueberries in them. Ace's had a face on top of his pancake stack with eyes made of butter pats and the syrup a smile, with extra syrup near by to pour on. Rev had bird seed mixed into the batter of him.

Tech's and Slam's were the only ones that were completely plain besides the syrup.

Food down on the table, everyone dug in. 

Around noon Duck did drag himself out of bed. He was probably driven to the kitchen by the lingering smell of breakfast past. Once in the kitchen he took one look at the evidence of there been being a big breakfast in the sink then looked to Slam.

"I don't suppose there's anything left." Duck said.

Slam took the plate of left over that was sitting on food warmer, waiting for Duck.

"Ta-dahh!" Slam said.

Duck seemed a bit surprised by the fact that food had been set aside for him.

"Well, that's a pleasant surprise." Duck said.

After a long moment of pause he said "Thanks."

With the plate of food Duck wandered off to the living room to eat his food in front of the t.v.

"Oh hey! You even pre cut it and got the syrup to pancake ratio right!" Duck called from the living room not long after.

Slam grinned, happy to know that breakfast had been a success.

I finished watching Loonatics Unleashed and I have Some Thoughts. I guess this is like a part 2 to the other post I made about the show so yeah.

I swear I don’t intend for everything I write to be an essay but whatever. It’s all under the cut. No massive story spoilers, but I will talk about episodes and will warn accordingly. (But who actually cares about being spoiled on the plot of Loonatics Unleashed?)

Alright so I finally figured out why Ace has laser vision. ...It’s kinda dumb but it’s because rabbits eat carrots(in cartoons). It’s... a reason at least. Still kinda sucks that it’s his only power when everyone else got 2 and some change. Kickass swords don’t count, even if they are magic. Seriously; Transformation. Duplication. Imitation. Tons of other “ation”s. They could’ve leaned into his trickster side but no. He eats carrots... so he got laser vision. Also he only ate carrots like three times in the show so wtf...

Okay so the pacing... improved somewhat in season 2. Don’t get me wrong there were still problems in some episodes but at least they learned how to build the stakes until the climax. They still sometimes went from zero to eighty after the opening credits, but at least it wasn’t zero to a hundred. Much less whiplash was had is what I’m saying. 

I don’t think I really mentioned the villains before but they’re uh... generally not very good. They’ve got cool gimmicks but most of the time they’re just two stereotypes and a cliche in a trench coat. Season 2 brought back classic anthro characters to be villains a few times, and while they still weren’t well written and just referenced old bits half the time... at least they weren’t dehumanized humans. 

I also don’t think I mentioned the animation so... it’s fine. It’s got cut corners but all cartoons do. Sometimes fight scenes look cool, sometimes they’re stiff. Sometimes the slapstick is well timed, sometimes it’s not. Sometimes the facial expressions match the voice acting, sometimes they don’t. Speaking of voice acting, it’s good. There’s not really anything stand out to perform in the first place but everyone does a good job with what they have. 

Okay random note before getting deeper into things... the intro themes were... not good. I swear the first song ended on a note that it wasn’t supposed to. The second song fixed that but added people announcing the characters which... is just worse to me. Not much else to say because I skipped them after the first few times. 

(Very mild spoilers for the general plots of episodes past this point.)

Ace and Lexi improved a little in the second season, but I still find them kinda bland. Ace still just feels like zero calorie Bugs Bunny. His wit is confined to being the leader, snarky comebacks, and some decent sleuthing skills... and that’s really it. He doesn’t really play around with the villains the way Bugs would. Ace was also supposed to have an arc learning to use his magic sword which... didn’t really happen. Lexi’s defining trait outside of her powers is still that she’s “the girl” which... sucks... Uh... she upgraded to Gamer Girl in the second season which while neat, amounted to nothing outside that one episode. At the very least she was never kidnapped for more than 5 seconds?(That “honor” goes to Zadavia) They also never really brought up their backstories in a meaningful way again, which sucks. 

I still like the rest of the team. Slam got an episode about wrestling that built on his backstory and was fun to watch. Duck discovered that his egg powers work differently in water which was neat and matched him being a waterfowl.(Lexi’s powers work differently in water too but it’s never brought up again). Rev is still Rev and I still love him. He got an episode about his family and struggle to impress them(specifically his parents) despite his career choice which was also neat, but I will be coming back to this episode later. Tech is also still Tech and I also still love him. But uh, every character and also me wanted to see him get out of the lab more, and then he got like a nibble of an episode to get out of the lab, and then the show was over. Oof.

Speaking of Tech, it might be for the best he hardly ever left the lab because his powers are... possibly way too effective against all the robots and machines the team fights. Now, him being “overpowered” could’ve been used as a fun writing challenge. Robot goons aren’t a good option for villains anymore. Fighting against him in a city filled with metal is harder. Villains can’t rely on simply killing him thanks to his regeneration. Fight scenes including Tech would have to be handled in a fun and interesting way. But... no. In a team with two tech guys, the one with super speed and flight comes with while the one who can control metal and literally can’t die stays behind. Oh well. Doubt they could’ve added him into more fights without accidentally dumbing him down anyway. 

Oh crap I forgot to talk about Zadavia! Uh... she exists. She’s the team’s boss who sends them out on missions. Uh... I can’t talk too much about her without spoiling what little overarching plot this show has, but just know that she’s neat, but affected by the usual sexism going on in the show’s writing.

You know, for being The Loonatics the main cast wasn’t very loony. You know who were though? Basically all the villains. Yeah I don’t wanna go there but oops here I go anyway. It’s pretty messed up that all the main characters’ zany traits were dialed down, while the defining feature of practically every villain (besides their stereotypes)is that they’re insane. I mean, if you’re looking for good mental illness rep in The Looney Tunes you’re gonna be disappointed, but at least in the shorts almost every character was a little unhinged and a bit of an asshole, making none of them stand out for those traits specifically. 

Also messed up is that a lot of the villains are disfigured and made fun of for it by the main cast. Hot take of the century, but I think making fun of people for having a big head or only one eye is... bad. Oh and if they’re a woman then they’re also judged on how hot they are. Actually all women in the show are subjected to sexist writing. I remember like one episode where women were treated with a sliver of respect for a split second and that was in the obligatory “the cast comes across an island of amazon women” episode. However since most of the time was spent painting them as villains until the “actually sexism is bad” ending, there was hardly a moment of reprieve from the bullshit if a woman was on screen. 

I’m not the best person to speak on this but uh... it’s fucked up that since literally every notable human is a villain, all the people of color are bad guys, right? Like, obviously it’s not as bad as some of the shit the old shorts pulled, but that’s like saying getting punched is not as bad as getting stabbed. It’s true... but I’m sure most people would prefer neither. 

And here’s where I bring up that Rev episode I mentioned earlier. Rev’s parents are racist against coyotes (cartoons sure love to make carnivores allegories for black people don’t they?) and obviously with Tech E. Coyote being his close friend, that causes trouble. ...Right? Uh, no. They say some racist crap to Tech, and that’s it. There is not even an attempt to correct their behavior from anyone. It’s just treated as some unfortunate quirk. In fact the episode’s conflict actually revolves around Rev’s brother, Rip. Honestly, I doubt that they could’ve handled a decent “racism is bad” episode anyway. But they could’ve also... just not brought up racism if they couldn’t handle it? I’m sure having no racism topic at all would be better than having Tech just take the parents’ racist bull crap lying down and then help Rev impress them with an invention he doesn’t get credit for. Also at one point Rev says if Tech wasn’t a coyote and a guy he’d kiss him, which has two uncomfortable implications, but this section is already too long.

Overall... yeah the show’s not very good. Of course it wasn’t. It was always going to be a little garbage. And no not because of the darker style or strange setting or any of that superficial crap. Team dynamic shows are popular and with Teen Titans doing so well WB probably thought they might as well shove out a 2 season Looney Tunes version to grab a little more cash, probably minimizing the budget to squeeze out as much profit as possible. If anyone working on the show was passionate about it, I doubt they had the budget or time to act on most their ideas. 

Still, there were things to like. There are some funny jokes throughout the show, a few of which even managed to come out of Ace’s mouth. Danger Duck was literally just Daffy and he’s always great. Ironically, Rev and Tech were the most fun to listen to, and also to watch interacting in general. Slam didn’t do much but was a sweetheart who deserves success. There managed to be some decently twisty twist villains, if only because Disney ruined my brain with their ceaseless and lazy attempts at them, and I wasn’t looking out for them in this show. And, while almost nothing was properly developed, at least the concepts and characters are fun to think about?

I can’t say I’d recommend this show to everybody, but uh... if you’re a Furry with low standards and too much free time like me, maybe you’ll like it? Just go in with low expectations so when nice things happen you’re decently surprised.

Random Loonatics Unleashed drabble that came to mind that also involves one of my oc’s Dazzle.

The sound of the t.v in the main room were low but unmistakable. So was the sound of horror movie level screams from said t.v.

In his bed, Duck attempted to ignore the noises for a time, still in that zone of comfort where he didn't want to drag himself out of bed to deal with it. He also had hoped someone else would handle it. But when fifteen minutes had passed by and there was no stopping the sounds of horror from the t.v, Duck got up.

He had only one guess of who was watching horror movies at two in the morning.

Duck trudged into the living room and saw what he expected.

Tech's sister was over at the headquarters. She seemed to be around more since the reveal of her powers. Not part of the team officially but she was there. Tech was glad for the chance to hang out with his younger sister time to time, so it wasn't a problem. Though at this very moment she was being a problem to Duck.

Dazzle was huddled up on the couch, a bowl of popcorn set next to her and her eyes set on the t.v screen. The t.v currently had a old B horror movie playing and the plot seemed to involve vampires given the amount of fangs and capes on screen.

Duck cleared his throat loudly. The sound was barely registered by Dazzle, so Duck had to make the throat clearing sound again.

Dazzle only now noticed Duck's presence. She picked up the remote and paused the movie. The sound of horror stopped for now.

"Oh hey. Didn't know that the movie was that loud that it would wake anyone up." Dazzle said.

"The sound of screams does tend to get one out of a sound sleep, yes." Duck said.

Dazzle did look a bit sheepish even as she shrugged a bit.

"Sorry, but these older movies are better with the volume up." Dazzle said.

Duck glared at Dazzle still.

"Fine, fine. I'll turn it down. But the scene with the vampire's chasing the assistant to the scientist who is trying to cure vampires is coming up. It's shot so badly for a moment it looks like it's day time when it's really still night and the assistants hair is in a whole different hair style in one shot." Dazzle said.

"Right..."

Duck took another look at the screen. 

"Why do you like these movies anyways?" Duck asked.

Dazzle shrugged, taking a drink of her soda before she spoke.

"I don't know. Maybe I think the world needs a few vampires. Or at least the nicer ones. Granted the vampire as protagonist genre didn't have that many entries up until-"

"Stop, stop. You're just as nerdy as your brother. Just about horror movies." Duck interrupted.

"Hey." Dazzle said. "Give me credit. I have a lot of other things I'm nerdy about."

Duck rolled his eyes. He would had gone back to bed by this point but now he was too awake to go right back to sleep. He ended up sitting down on the couch to watch the movie.

"Move over. And give me some popcorn. Consider it waking me up tax." Duck said.

Dazzle held up the popcorn bowl, then paused.

"Actually.."

One hand still was holding the popcorn bowl while she waved the other hand over the bowl twice. That tell tale sparkle of magic came to her fingers and eyes as she quickly recited a phrase to make the magic work as she pleased.

"Double double, toil and trouble." she said twice.

The bowl of popcorn became two bowls. 

"Here you go." Dazzle said, handing over the double of the bowl.

"This isn't.. going to have magic glitter junk or turn me into something if I eat it, right?" Duck asked.

"That's never happened before to me so I doubt it will to you." Dazzle said.

Duck stared at the double of the bowl awhile. Then he shrugged and ate some of the popcorn. It tasted just fine and did not turn him into anything. With that done, soon the two were enthralled by the plot and silliness of the movie.

There were scenes in the movie that Duck had to comment on. Mainly about the romance in the movie.

"Ugh, so very forced and is it me or is he always saying something that's insulting his girlfriend?" Duck asked.

Dazzle nodded.

"It's a really, really old film. That kind of thing happened a lot in older movies like this." Dazzle said.

"Well, it's still annoying." Duck muttered.

"Tell me about it. I've seen so many movies that have that gross trope I lost count." Dazzle said.

In the movie the lead vampire loomed over the hero. The hero was trapped by the wall up at his back. It looked as if the hero was doomed.

"Yeah! Bite him for all the sexist remarks he made earlier!" Dazzle said.

"And for the forced romance!" Duck added in.

The lead vampire leaned in, fangs so close to the hero's neck.

"Bite him! Bite him!" they chanted.

The lights to the living room turned on. Dazzle and Duck both yelped in shock. Once use to the light and Dazzle paused the movie, they looked back over the couch to see Tech by the light switch.

"We were a little loud, huh?" Dazzle said.

Tech nodded. Dazzle knew that older brother stern look on his face. Not something that mattered often any more as Dazzle was a grown adult now. But some habits died hard and Dazzle felt sheepish.

"Sorry. Didn't mean to wake anyone up." Dazzle said.

"I kind of helped with that." Duck admitted.

"If you think this is the first time my sister has woken me up because she was watching old horror movies, you would be mistaken." Tech said.

Dazzle only shrugged at that. 

"So umm.. join us in watching the movie?" Duck asked.

"I've seen this movie at least fifty times. So no thank you." Tech said.

"I say the movie only gets better in the fifty first time but whatever you say." Dazzle said,

Tech shook his head, but allowed himself a small smile.

"Just keep it down please." Tech said.

Tech turned off the lights again on his way out. A cue to hit start again. No more chanting. Though they softly booed and threw some popcorn at the t.v screen when the hero punched the head vampire in the jaw.
