As it goes with every new brainrot I have, it’s time for Kirby crossover again :)

Kirby in one piece! With one piece’s strong focus on dreams and found family, I thought it would fit for Kirby to be a pirate that dreams of sailing to the stars and beyond. Not that this is very achievable by normal means, but we know that it’s at least possible with Eneru and the Skypiea arc :D

Kirby has the devil fruit power of the copy-copy fruit! A paramecia activated by contact and only able to copy one fruit at a time. It can copy logias and paramecias with no problems, though actual ability using the fruit’s powers is up to Kirby to practice and figure out. Zoans can only be copied to partial transformations and cannot be awakened. Kirby doesn’t have much of a mind for haki but has a lot of latent conquerer’s haki that he doesn’t realize— it’s one of the reasons he’s able to make friends so effortlessly.

Meta Knight in this AU is a retired marine, between Captain and Rear Admiral level. He has a bat model zoan fruit that allows him to grow wings, and is a skilled swordsman. He’s retired from the marines but acts a his own separate party that is neither revolutionary, marine, nor pirate, keeping his own fleet known as the Meta-Knights. Their actions are similar to pirates despite not flying a Jolly Roger. They claim territory to protect and occasionally fight other pirate crews, and they claim no allegiance to the world government. They simply go where they are needed. Meta Knight will sometimes sail with Kirby on his small ship, the Popstar, just to keep Kirby out of trouble and make sure the ship is well stocked and well-maintained and able to be seaworthy.

Dedede is the king to one of the small countries that isn’t represented at the Reverie. That means he has a lot more freedom to do his own thing, including setting sail while taking a crew of Dees with him and leaving the country in the hands of some administrative Dees. Dedede splits his time between exploring and sailing and returning home to run his country, with the help of his trusty second in command, Bandanna Dee. Dedede has a penguin model Zoan fruit, and Bandanna doesn’t have any devil fruit but is proficient in coating their spear in haki. They’re the designated save-the-fruit-user-from-drowning person when they’re on deck.

Kirby’s crew changes because a lot of the people he recruits tend to have their own responsibilities. His crew is also full of people he’s beaten. It’s not uncommon for Kirby to sail alone, though he gets into more scrapes than usual with bad weather and rough waves. It can hardly be called a pirate crew, but Kirby has collected all the most heinous criminals under his banner and as such, the world government treats it as a threat.

Complaining abt Suicide Squad yet again but the fact that they have Waller exposing the alien community to space racist attacks and talking abt how she got to her position through deceit and being a terrible person and stuff is just. Ahsfiwueh JUST SAY YOU DONT KNOW WALLER.

Anyways literally the 3rd mission of the Squad ever (and the first framed as smth Waller picked and not orders from above) was the Squad discrediting and stopping a rogue vigilante who was only arresting POC and funneling white people into white supremacy groups (of which he was the most prominent member) in SUICIDE SQUAD #4. and it's explicitly framed as this mission being personal for Waller that she's hiding from the government bc its illegal like. Guys. Please why are we having her incite (space bc comics) racist attacks now

Also the whole "Amanda got her position through deceit and being a terrible person" NO. she KEPT her position through being shitty and playing complicated political games!!! She wasn't always that way like there is a difference and it is IMPORTANT ppl PLEASEEEE. In Secret Origins #14 we learn Amanda's backstory and she used to be a normal, caring person! Like even after she entered into working in government and politics she wasn't automatically morally bankrupt like please people. She was originally given control of the Squad by Reagan (*sigh* 80s comics...) to distract and get rid of her because she was so successful at pushing progressive social policy in Congress. Acting like she's this static pillar of evil is such a waste of her character and so fucking uninteresting and disrespectful to her arc it drives me MAD.

Like I am NOT saying Waller is all sunshine and rainbows, she fucking SUCKS (said w love <3) but like there's a human being there. It's a progression, she has a character arc like please, DC, please!!! They've fucked up Waller so bad and made her so opaque and uninteresting she can't even be the protagonist of her own story for fucks sake!

Like I don't know how many times I have to scream it until DC hears me or remembers but WALLER IS THE MAIN CHARACTER OF SUICIDE SQUAD. ITS HER BOOK. yet right now she's a cutout to be used as the villain wherever the writers please. Even in her book we get none of her perspective really displayed, no exploration of her thoughts with any kind of understanding of the role she traditionally has played and was made to play in the story.

The concept of queerbaiting annoys me. I was told that it refers to a work of fiction pretending to cater to a queer audience but then pulling back from it to avoid alienating homophobes, which is an incredibly specific thing. But a lot of people seem to think that it instead means "any time there's any gay subtex, metaphor, or ambiguity" or "whenever something from 1995-2012 was being a normal amount of homophobic for the era."

Not to be annoying or anything but while this seems like two very similar pieces if you don’t know anything about the history of the kind of sculpture on the left, they do seem more different when you actually do know the context, mainly:

The work on the right is very clearly created for sexual/titillating purposes first. I don’t mean this as a value judgement, I just mean that the work was created mainly to evoke sexual feelings and thus choices made in this work were made for this purpose

This means that the features of the body on the right, ie, the big boobs, the pose, and less clothing were made in a sexual context. All of this of course in a modern, likely western or at least western inspired context.

The work on the left however, was made in a much different context for a different purpose. Can’t ID this work specifically but I would say that this work was very likely due to religious reasons, likely decorating a Buddhist or Jain complex of some sort, but also possibly a Hindu temple of sorts. This of course doesn’t mean it was devoid of sexual connotations, and in fact sexuality and religion can often intersect in art. However, the primary purpose was likely not to evoke sexual feelings but rather to depict a mythical figure, mythological event, etc etc

While again, not devoid of sexuality, this kind of depiction would not necessarily read as overtly sexual as the left image reads in modern western context. This is actually a pretty common depiction of the female figure in ancient and medieval North Indian art, tbh maybe even South Asian sculpture as a whole. This specially to me, is very reminiscent of Ajanta sculpture, and Ellora sculpture. If you look at the women in these sculptures, you can notice a lot of similarities between the figures there and this one. Bare large breasts and large hips were more normalized in this style of sculpture, and while not unsexual, certainly did not necessarily have the hypersexual connotations that the piece on the right has.

The pose struck in the sculpture in the left is tribunga/tribhanga, commonly used in Indian sculpture when depicting men and women and derived from certain styles of Indian dance. While again, this wasn’t devoid of sexuality, it also had other connotations such as youthfulness, energy, etc.

Anyways TLDR while these seem superficially very similar, they actually read differently in their respective contexts. Interesting look into how bodies are perceived within different cultural contexts yada yada

warframe spoilers: the new war & whispers in the walls !

this is just speculation, but now that it has been basically confirmed that the operator is not gonna be doing the romance in the new quest, i think it's safe to assume we will play as someone else? not arthur either, so perhaps drifter?

i'm really curious and excited to see how they'll connect the story!

the new war was really fun and unique in giving us the choice who to play as - i know a lot of people prefer the drifter due to their maturity, but i personally chose the operator, because i feel like my traumatized inner child needed the closure lol.

and it just felt right in the story - this used and betrayed and abandoned child got to prove themselves finally in the end, they got to save Lotus - someone who they have kinda complicated relationship with but is ultimately very important (and to finally properly revenge Umbra, at least in my heart).

i know we then get to choose gameplay wise, whether to use the drifter or the operator, but i assume witw was from the point of operator no matter who you chose? (correct me if im wrong). and despite being quite passive/ quiet in the story, i feel like that's an important detail still!

so how will the drifter fall into this puzzle?? what happens that the operator has to stay behind? will the drifter have the same emotional stakes that we built up with the operator in witw???

i dont know but i am so so excited to learn what they have in store for us, and if it is a drifter story indeed then i am even more excited! I'm happy about my choices in the new war, but having a story revolving around our other us would be just amazing and connect us (operator & drifter) in even more meaningful ways!!!

the "cabaret" currently on in london shouldn't be as expensive as it is, it's about a cabaret (amongst other things), that thing where a bunch of queers and freaks hang out and do performance and avant garde weird shit and lament the rise of fascism and sure there are hustlers and rich punters, but it's not an exclusive club, me and my friends do that shit for each other to raise money for top surgeries, that's how you should put on a modern day "cabaret" performance, or make it a small local fucked up little venue that's a bit drafty and nobody's a great singer or dancer, but everyone's a fantastic actor. get the feeling this version is probably an Extravaganza and that's just... incorrect
